All right, welcome in. It'sa Cincy three sixty, a service of

(01:55):
Skyline Chili right here on the Homeof the Bengals. ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
spar station, or via the iHeartRadioapp. Leave us a talkback, give
us a call today five one, three seven, fifteen thirty. Thank you
for joining us, and thank youThere Austin to Allan Jackson who got us
kicked off? And I think away that maybe a lot of Reds fans
are feeling right now. Yep,you know gates of hell gates and they're

(02:17):
open, and now they're just invitingyou to come on inside and bask and
sit in this literal hell on earthright now. That is the Reds offense.
Hell hath no fury like a Redsoffense right now? Oh my gosh,
abysmal, brutal, disgusting works inthe opposite way. But yes,

(02:38):
it's terrible, not good. Andas Alan just said, the gates of
hell have opened wide. Man righthere with the offense of the Cincinnati Reds
inviting us to step inside. He'llbe a friend. We all need a
friend right now after watching nine inningsof what the Reds have done lately,
pain and suffering at the dish, will it ever end? You? Tell

(03:00):
us today I've won three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty.
As we get into the show,I do need to tell you we're a
service of our friends here. Insegment one of Klaus roofing k R Sincy
with a y dot com Austin thosestorms last night, Oh wicked. Yep.
I know. I've seen a lotof pictures, a lot of posts
of damage to roofs or other thingswith your property. Give Klausroofing a call

(03:25):
KRS since with a y dot comcheck them out and they'll get you helped
out. You know, it's weird, Austin. Now, I don't want
to start the show as we're talkingabout hell and the reds offense and just
throw some meteorologists in there as well. Do you remember a couple of weeks
ago when I was so stressed andso nervous during this show. I left,

(03:46):
I got everyone in my family totake their cars up to a garage
that we found to protect the carsfrom the hail, the impending hail and
storms that were coming. And wegot like a passing shower. Yeah.
And then yesterday it was like, hey, you might get some rain,
some storms later, could be aheavy downpour at times. No talk of

(04:08):
tornado sirens. That's not true. Not on the weather apps yesterday they said,
and our friend Jennifer catch Mark inthe nine first Morning Weather Center said
there is an increased chance of tornadoesthis evening. They said, it basically
all the same stuff. They saida couple of weeks ago. Oh it
wasn't dad mildout. It didn't getas much pub Why because the last time

(04:30):
they were because they cried wolf.Maybe they were slightly inaccurate unbelievable. This
time they said, listen, it'sstill gonna be bad, big chance of
natives. Yeah, it wasn't great, especially like you get the kids down,
they fall asleep, and then thesirens go off. You gotta get
down to the basement. That's whathappened to me last night. I was
like, you know how you canjust like barely keep your eyes open.

(04:54):
Yep. That's where I was at. And I was just about to just
turn over and say let's call ita night, and I heard yep.
I was like, uh, oh, hopefully all those listening stayed safe last
night. Yes, you need anew roof, clous you need a new
roof called Clouds Roofing. We're gonnaspend a lot of time an hour number
one on the reds because I don'tknow where to turn with this. We're

(05:15):
going to take your calls. Maybeyou can help us. Five one,
three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty. It's now the longest
losing streak easily in baseball six ina row, and pretty much all the
good deeds done by that. Rememberthe first winning April since how long I
don't even remember the date, butyou know, we're talking nearly a week

(05:36):
ago of what the Reds have doneto get started and not put themselves behind
the eight ball. Right the firstwinning April thirteen years had just completed,
and here comes May and the Redshave yet to win a game in the
month of May. Quite frankly, the Reds offense is yet to be competitive

(05:58):
in the month of a month ofMay. We'll get the good, the
bad, and the ugly from lastnight. We'll hear some David Bell on
what they could possibly do to turnthis offense around. We'll look across the
standings what's next for the Reds. It's not all doom and gloom everywhere in
baseball, though Austin. There arethere are cities in Major League Baseball that
are going through some fun times rightnow. You know, it was tough

(06:19):
last night to finish up that Red'sbeat down and go watch other baseball games
and see how much fun other peoplewere having. Cubs walked off the Padres
in the bottom of the ninth Icouldn't watch it for very long. It
was fun. The Milwaukee Brewers lastnight calling their shot. Who who hit

(06:42):
the home run in the ninth willWilli Adamas? He called his shot Austin.
I didn't see that, so hewas. He was talking to a
Royals fan behind the Milwaukee dugout allgame now, both sides said it was
good natured ribbing carrying on both sides. Brewers took a lead, Kansas City

(07:02):
battled back. They took a tworun into two run lead into the ninth,
and Adama said, I'm about togo hit a three run home run
here. Unbelievable, Andy Mack, how about that? How about that for
fun? A team scoring more thanlike two runs and also winning a game
and come from behind fashion hitting ahomer with people on base. You know

(07:26):
it's also fun. Oakland Athletics earlierthis week hit twenty runs in a game.
Now they lost yesterday, but theystill scored eight runs. That'd be
fun, that's so true. Texasput up fifteen, Detroit put up eleven.
The Guardians and a loss put upseven. The red hot Philadelphia Phillies
scored ten runs last night. TheAngels, who have no one on their

(07:46):
team scored nine. Last night,Yankees added ten, Mariners added ten.
Mets. The Mets, of allteams, won seven to five. And
the Dodgers. You know, yesterdayyou were kind of saying the Mets stink,
and you just said that again. The Mets are pretty good. By
the way, they're eighteen. Well, I guess by our scales. Now,
I guess they're good. Eighteen andeighteen. The Mets are a solid

(08:07):
team. They're not, you know, they're not eight and twenty seven like
some teams. Dodgers beat the Marlinseven though the Marlins and a guy that
our guy DJ Hodge mentioned yesterday,Jazz chisholm let off the game with the
home run. It was really funnymoment on MLB Network last night. Fantastic
Greg Amsinger. They do MLB tonightand they always have no hitter alerts when

(08:31):
somebody has a no hitter through fiveor six innings, and with Yoshinobu Yamamoto
going on the mound for the Dodgersup against the hapless Marlins, Greg Amsinger
said, you know what, let'sgo ahead and do a no hitter alert
before the game even starts. Sogood, first pitch of the game,
chism goes deep, Marlins are upone nothing. That was a great moment.

(08:54):
See you later again, We'll getto a bunch of the Cincinnati Reds
in the NBA last night, twogames that were not close at all and
in different ways. The Boston Celticspretty much led comfortably from the start.
They beat the Calves one twenty toninety five Austin. The Calves have yet
to win a playoff game on theroad this playoffs, and they've also not

(09:16):
even come close on the road. It's really really easy to root against teams
from Cleveland. Yes, it's ajoy to see them fail, and I
hope that they get swept and swiftly, swiftly swept. Yes. Okay.
Also, by the way, lastnight, if if Derek White continues to
score like he does, no oneis going to beat the Boston Celtics the

(09:37):
other game last night. I've gothigh hopes for this series, and I'm
hoping that last night was just afeeling out type of game for the Mavericks
because the Oklahoma City Thunder ran awayfrom the Mavericks one seventeen to ninety five.
Now, the Mavericks had this withintwo in the third quarter. I
would venture to say Austin, muchlike the Timberwolves, there's a large contingent

(09:58):
of normal NBA fans that may havenot watched a ton of Thunder or Timberwolves
games, and they are being turnedonto a whole different brand of basketball,
the youth movement, defensive intensity, the length that these teams play with Thunder
is there is no smoking mirrors behindthem getting the number one overall seed.
They are a good, good teamand they are a lot of fun to

(10:22):
watch. Thunder beat the MAVs oneseventeen to ninety five, and then of
course tonight, as we'll talk aboutwith our guy Mowagger and quick hits and
locks of the night game two NixDelta blow yesterday. Mitchell Robinson's gonna miss
a lot of time six to eightweeks, so the Knicks are even more
shorthanded against the Pacers Madison Square Gardentonight. That a game to watch for

(10:46):
as well one other or two otherthings in the NBA. Rudy Gobert,
for the fourth time has been namedDefensive Player of the Year. A lot
of controversy on this one because hisside by side stats to like Victor Webbin
Yama aren't close. I know thatthat would made me mad because I was
tailing the Moegger NBA futures on uhWimby and that one didn't hit. Felt

(11:07):
like he was robbed. Not abig fan of that. Pretty mad about
it. Thought that was a Ireally thought that was an easy winner.
Yeah, and listen to this,Austin. Mike Greenberg tweeted out about this.
Jamal Murray has been fined for hisactions in Game two. Now.
He threw a towel towards a refand then he threw a heat pack that

(11:28):
went on the floor and came veryclose to getting underneath where players were jumping.
That is a reckless act. Austin, Yes, and it's dangerous.
Mike Greenberg tweeted out Jamal Murray isfined no suspension, and Greenberg pointed out
he was fined approximately zero point threepercent of his annual salary. That I'll
teach him. Yeah, nothing fora league with a bunch of guaranteed contracts.

(11:52):
Crazy, don't. I don't knowhow you don't suspend him. Crazy.
We're gonna talk more about this leaguelater in the show. Because Austin
Rivers ran his mouth and said thathe could get thirty NBA guys to go
play in the NFL right now,But you can't get thirty NFL guys to
go play in the NBA. Sowe're gonna have some little something for Austin
Rivers. Later in this show,we're gonna talk about. Yeah, we're
gonna talk about an eighteen games schedulepossibility later in the show. Schedule release

(12:13):
is a week from today. Let'sgo week from today. We'll talk about
the schedule release today. I havemy mock schedule. Let's go. I'm
ready. Rashi Rice? Who uh? Is he gonna be playing football this
year for the Kansas City Chiefs? What is he doing? What a bozo?
A bunch of bad stuff? You'reYou're already in this whole altercation where

(12:33):
you wreck a car, leave thescene. And I would imagine that those
representing Rashi Rice, or maybe thosearound him, are like, hey,
a lot of stuff going on.Just stay low right now, lay low,
stay clean. Uh. Rashi Riceis the suspect in an a legend
assault, a llegenedd assault that injureda man in a Dallas nightclub earlier this
week. What is this guy doing? Well? Like, I just I

(12:56):
don't you got everything right there onthe palm of your hands. You had
a really good rookie year on thefield, you won a Super Bowl.
You're coming into year two and youcan't stay out of your own way.
It's actually sad, but a brutal, brutal misstep from Rashid Rice of the
Kansas City Chiefs. Did I missanything in all that, Austin? I

(13:18):
think you've got it at all?The hoopo we said yesterday, hell is
real? And if you listen tothe start of the show today, what
better time than the Hell is Realrivalry to come then at a time where
it does feel like hell on Earthright now? Well, hell is real
because we're in it. Yeah, right now. If you're a sports fan
right now, yep, yeah, yeah. Primarily if you're a Reds fan.

(13:39):
Round one. It's gotta be toughfor those people that are like just
Reds fans and not Bengals fans.Oh no, you know, at least
the Bengals are giving you something tobe excited about, something to believe in.
How about that smart move by themto say, hey, we're not
going to put the Leaping Tiger atmidfield, but here's Joe Burrow. Yeah,
everybody forgot about that real quick, didn't they? Or you know,
hey, we're not gonna the leapingTiger, but hey, look the Reds

(14:01):
aren't scoring any runs, so don'tworry about us. By the way,
round one of Hell is Reel isin Columbus, so you'd have to make
the drive north and then you seethat sign on the side of the road
hell is Reel and it's got allthe commandments after that, but you only
see the sign heading south. IfI'm not mistaken, No, I think
you see it north, do you? Yeah? Because you're you're going towards

(14:22):
Columbus and if you go in further, that's why hell is yah, because
you're getting into those areas. Oops. All right, let's get our first.
Think they like renovated that thing, didn't Yes? Yeah, renovations to
the sign. They dumped somebody intoit, the red Hot squad from FC
Cincinnati Red Hot. You know whatI always struggle? Can I just be

(14:43):
honest real quick? Just say whateveryou want, Tony. I always struggle
because with sports teams, I thinkof like city and then like the mascot
or the team name. You know, Columbus Crew, Yes, Cincinnati BENGALSINTI
red, I get it. Ialways struggle because I'm like f C Cincinnati
and then i just say something likethe orange and blue because I'm used to

(15:07):
having something right after f C Cincinnati. Right, why is that? Well,
you know, I think overseas, that's how most of those Uh that's
a soccer thing. Yeah, okay, yeah, okay, So I mean
I'm trying to think of Baltimore Orioles. Right. Well, there's a lot
of soccer teams that are you know, Manchester United. It's it's Manchester,

(15:31):
you know, that's the city thatthey're in, Manchester City. That would
make sense. Those are just theirnames, you know, f C,
SC whatever. Yeah. FC Cincinnatiis a little bit unique, but there
are a lot of those FC orscs followed by the city around soccer,

(15:52):
gotcha. Okay, that's it's notuncommon globally, it's uncommon for you who
you know, you don't try toYou don't like to leave the state of
homee right right right right here?Don't like the the uh yeah, you
don't like straying away from the norm, right, yeah, you're right.
Uncomfortable, You're right. Here's whatwe're gonna do. Uh, we're gonna

(16:14):
recap the Reds game last night whenwe come back. We have to after
that, around twelve thirty, we'regonna take phone calls. And here's what
we're gonna do, Austin. Iknow it's only May eighth, it's not
December, but we'll have our ownmany Reds Festivus today, the airing of
grievances. If you need to getyour grievances out with the Cincinnati Reds,
this is a safe place for youto call in our number one today five

(16:36):
one, three, seven, fournine, fifteen thirty. Now after our
number one we pick up steam. We're full speed ahead. We're not gonna
get to as many of the grievancesbecause we're a glass half full show.
So we're gonna allow that negativity alittle bit to be aired in the first
hour. You can air it duringtalkbacks. But after that, we got

(16:56):
to find positives. Five one, three, seven four, fifteen thirty.
We'll do that when we get back. Since he three sixty a service of
Skyline Chile on ESPN fifteen thirty CincinnatiSports Station. Now your chance to win
one thousand dollars entered this nationwide keywordon our website bank. That's the bank.
You enter it now. Hey,hey, Alexa, what's going on
in baseball? Getting ESPN fifteen thirtyfrom iHeartRadio. Drives the step back pitch

(17:25):
to the light and it was liftedhigh and beating the Dick center field long
run. Carelly's back to the wall. That's gone. So Jonathan India has
hit a solo shot with two outshere in the seventh and the reds are
off the side. It is sixtyone Diamond Bank there it was. How

(17:48):
about that for some excitement last night. That's special. Jonathan India with a
solo home run. Tyler Stevenson alsohad a solo home run last night.
Tyler Stevenson one oh one off thebat. Yeah, watch working big,
here come the bats, Watch outman. They are gonna wake up eventually.
Yeah. Then they're gonna go ona run. Yep, they might
win fifteen to twenty straight. Okay, there's a uh, there's a lot

(18:17):
from from last night. One.You know, remember Corbyn Carroll took the
baseball road by storm last year,Rookie of the Year, Rookie of the
Year. He's only hitting now afterlast night, two eleven on the season.
He came into the game last nightwith one home run and seven RBIs
on this season. See Baseball's hardthat's in. That's in thirty five games

(18:37):
going into last night. Now,the problem is last night he had a
home run and five RBIs. Uh, so almost doubled his r RBI output
from the season in one game.Doesn't that give you hope that eventually the
worm will turn for the Rets.Gotta hope, so, you would think.
But they just need a lot ofworms. Nobody suck forever. They
need a lot of worms to turn. Also, didn't realize last night that
Ehio Suarez, Tucker Barnhart, andKevin Newman are all playing for the Arizona

(19:00):
Get and they lit the reds upTarker Barnhardts hitting two twenty nine. I'd
be a welcome sight right now aboutTucky long balls. Huh? A couple
of gold gloves to his name, still in the league. Yeah, let's
see it where in Tuck? Allright, here's what I wrote down last
night, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Okay, for
the good, it's good. Iknow he went over fourth the plate,
but it's good seeing TJ Friedel backin the leadoff spot. Yes, also

(19:22):
made a couple of good plays outin center field. Good to see other
good John's an Indian Tyler Stevenson withthe home run. Yes, any run
at this point is a great thingfor this Cincinnati Reds team. And then,
finally, for many reasons, FrankieMuntoss. Last night Austin went six,
four hits, one earned run, struck out seven, and only walked

(19:44):
one. He threw eighty seven pitches. I think he had ninety nine on
the radar gun last night. Helooked very good. He looked great.
Yeah, absolutely phenomenal. That's allthe good. Did I miss any good
from last night? There? Youknow, I'm gonna say that they struck
out less than ten times. Okay, they only struck out eight times.
I'm gonna say that's good. Okay, that's a good start. Two of

(20:08):
them were one player, Will Benson. Here's what I had lost. Yeah,
here's what I have as the bad. Ellie committed his seventh are of
the season on a very easy playto make with Tucker Barnhart running not a
good air. That's his seventh thereon the season. And then can I
also say this about Ellie day LaCruz Sure hitting one ninety in his last

(20:30):
seven game. Yeah, yes, eleven strikeouts last twenty six at bats.
This is again part of the adjustmentsto the adjustments. How will Ellie adjust?
Again? Speaking of those adjustments tothe adjustments, Austin, I asked
you this maybe a week or more. Over his last thirty games, Spencer
Steers hitting one eighty three nine overhis last fifteen. His average is all

(20:53):
the way down to two forty thisyear. Again, they've got to find
ways as a whole to start makingadjustments to find some type of confidence out
the plate. So that is that'smy bad and my other bad. And
you could argue, Austin that thisis borderline ugly. The Reds earlier this

(21:15):
week made the decision to put Sammall down in Louisville. Sam maul is
easily the best left handed pitcher theReds have out of the bullpen right now,
and I get he was the onlyone outside of Fernando Cruz and Alexis
Diaz that has options to be sentdown to Triple A. So the talk
is, well, he's the onlyguy you can send down. I disagree

(21:40):
because, as you mentioned this week, Austin, sending Sam Mall down doesn't
it just delay the inevitable that he'seventually going to take someone's spot pretty much,
that you're going to have to moveon from someone. And last night,
I want to say the the frustratingpart about last night is Justin Wilson

(22:03):
was the pitcher you turned to asa left handed reliever to come in in
a game where it's only two nothing, so you're still in the game.
You bring Justin Wilson in and hegives up four runs in an inning.
That's your go to for your lefthanded reliever out of the pen, not
Sam Mall, who you sent downto Louisville. Justin Wilson was bad last
night, and it makes the decisionto send Sam Mall down to Triple A

(22:26):
even worse now. The ugly it'seasy, it's the offense as a whole.
Three hits last night. The teambatting averages down to two to oh
seven on the season. Lance McAllistertweeted this out today. The Reds are
eight days away or eight days removedfrom a winning April, first one in

(22:48):
thirteen years, and since then, since the winning April, they've scored four
two, one, one zero andtwo runs in their six games. They've
lost all six of those, andin those six losses the team is hitting
one forty one. How much moreworse can it get? How much more
ugly can it get? From there? Austin? Not really? You know

(23:11):
you you asked me something earlier, and I'll ask it to you now on
the air and you can answer it. You talk now about I believe you
said that you're going to give themto the end of the week. You
got to see signs of life bythe end of the week. Yeah,
what I mean. But what areyou defining as a sign of life at
this point? Because if they goout and win today two to one,

(23:33):
that's a great win. Is thatreally a sign of life? What is
a sign of life to you withthis offense? That's what I'm trying to
figure out, because you know,I'm at the point now where I dread
watching them. I'm not interested.I don't find any joy in watching this
baseball team, and I don't wantto go through the entire summer being pissed

(23:56):
off about what they're doing every night. And so I'm very close to just
cutting ties with the feelings on theentire thing because this is embarrassing. But
if there's something they can do bythe end of this week. Once we
get past that twenty five percent markthrough the season, then I'll start to

(24:18):
maybe I'll stick around, maybe ifthey show me signs of life by the
end of this week. But Idon't know what signs of life would be.
Is it that they score ten runsover the course of a three game
series. Is it that somebody inthe lineup has a multi hit game.
Is it that they finally win aclose game. Is it that they simply
get off the schneide? Is itthat they score six runs in an inning?

(24:44):
What is it that would make mefeel good about them in terms of
signs of life by the end ofthis week, Because ultimately, the conversation
really isn't that different today than itwas yesterday or two days ago, which
is that there's still a lot ofbaseball to be played. They're struggling,
something needs to be done. Buthow long can you say that? How

(25:06):
long can you rely on there's stilla lot of baseball to be played?
And because now they're five games backin the National League Central correct, they
might be a couple of games backin the wild Card and that's cool,
But I don't think the rest ofthose teams vying with the Reds in the
NL Wild Card are going to beplaying at the pace the Reds are at
right now for very long. Iknow the term urgency gets thrown around a

(25:30):
lot in sports, but the lastcouple of years Austin, it's not been
a long season. And last yearwas the exception. But it's not been
a long season because before the seasonessentially even gets underway, you feel like
you've dug yourself too big of ahole. Here's my concern, because the
pushback that I constantly get, thepushback on the red As so early in
the season. Just relax. There'sa lot of baseball left. Well,

(25:52):
guess what here comes for the CincinnatiReds. You finish out this series against
the Arizona Diamondbacks, then you headto San Francisco. Then you had two
Arizona, then you head to LosAngeles, San Diego, Los Angeles,
Saint Louis, Chicago. Here's thedeal. You can preach to me all

(26:12):
you want about a long season. If you don't figure out the offense in
the next couple weeks, there isno long season. Yeah, the season
is over the end of this month, and then we get to have.
You know what what June in Julywould be, they go on a five
or six or seven game winning streak, and what do we say, Man,
they're playing well. If only theyjust hadn't went through that stretch in

(26:33):
May, if only they hadn't donethat. This this franchise has been haunted
in recent years by the start ofthe year where they just get so far
behind the eight ball that all youdo the whole year is well, if
you take away the start of theyear they're playing this baseball, you can't
do that. It's not how thisis measured. Urgency is now needed with
this offense. And also, Imean you can apply the same thing to

(26:55):
last year. They started off reallyslow. You heard Mark Sheldon talk about
that team players only meeting that theyhad and then you know, by the
time June and July whatever it is, rolls around, they win twelve games
in a row and they barely missedthe playoffs. Think about this for just
sec They were eighty two and eightylast year and they went on a twelve
game win streak. Twelve game winstreaks don't happen very often. So more

(27:19):
realistically, what was this team? You know cut that in half make them
six and six over that stretch, right, Sure, that's more like the
team that they're playing right now. It's not to say that this team can't
go on a twelve game win streak. A lot of the same parts are
still there. Yeah, but thattwelve game win streak saved their season.

(27:41):
A twelve game losing streak can dothe same thing. On the opposite end
of the spectrum, it can tankyour season. They're halfway there. Yeah,
By the way, mention the teambatting am you have to wear the
wig if they lose ten in arow. Oh, we haven't decided that
yet, but with the schedule comingup, I'm a little nervous about that.
Yeah. Talked about the batting averagebeing worst in baseball. Ellie de

(28:03):
la Cruz in his seven heirs nowtied for the most in baseball with O'Neil
Cruz of the Pittsburgh Pirates and JoseCavallero of the Tampa Bay Ray. So
something to watch there. Again,Ellie's been great. Seven airs that air
last night not great. We haveDavid bell Audio We'll get to as we
move on. But do you knowwhat happens tonight? What's that they're going
up against the left hander. Ohgreat, and probably the most coveted free

(28:27):
agent patrol, Yeah Montgomery. JordanMontgomery has not been great in sixteen innings,
has a five point six y threee R. But this team struggles
against left eas didn't he join themlate as well, like right before the
season. That's correct? Okay? How about this jam Or Candelario in ten
at bats against Jordan Montgomery hitless great. Ellie de la Cruz zero for three.

(28:48):
Okay. Santiago espin Al has hada little bit of success. He's
batting three seventy five and then seenat bats against him, Stuart Fairchild took
him deep once, He's won four. He's got faced him six times as
a three thirty three batting average.Jake Frayley's oh for three against him.
Tyler Stevenson has crushed him in hiscareer. Spencer Steer hitting two fifty off

(29:11):
of him, Luke Maylee hitting fourhundred off of him. Bang Jonathan India
hitting two eighty six off Here,we come seven at bats, so maybe
just maybe I'm picking up the time. All right, here's what we'll do.
Uh, your phone calls when weget back. This is a safe
place. Five, one, three, seven, four nine, fifteen thirty,
The gates of Hell have swung openwide, inviting you to step inside.

On ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of Skyline Chile.
What on the Ends? Fifteen thirtyfrom iHeartRadio, Hey, welcome back since

(29:59):
he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty,Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of Skyline.
Chill in a safe place for youtoday to air out your concerns with
the Cincinnati Reds and this current rosterhitting the ball, which, by the
way, Austin. According to ourguy on Twitter, Justin, he said,
the Reds have wasted now five straightquality starts from the pitching staff.

(30:22):
Ough not what you want to bewasting. Nope, because like many things
in the game, those things willeven out at some point during the season.
Yeah, doesn't it feel like oncethe bats come around then the pitching
will struggle absolutely, which is worse. I feel like when the bats are
on though, you feel like youalways got a chance, right Like,
do you remember last year when theReds were on that run, It literally

(30:44):
felt like even if they were downthree, they would come back and win.
Didn't matter. Right now, itfeels like if they're down one or
two, it feels like eight nothing. Yep. That's a terrible feeling.
And at least when the bats arethere, you don't feel like you're ever
out of a game. Two nothing. Last night, I felt like it
was over. Not a good wayto feel. Uh, Mark, maybe
you can help us out. What'sup? Mark? Hey? You know

(31:07):
I'm kind of I'm kind of lostto I ain't see this one coming.
I can't. I can't complain aboutthat line up last night. I mean
that was a cop of the lineupon Vapor. I would have made one.
I would like to see one changein it. I would take India
and Freedom and bat them back toback at the top of the line up

(31:30):
and let them be the table setters, you know, either either first or
second, either or but I wouldI would hit them too at the top.
And I brought this point last year. I would take Spencer's steer and
drop him down to either fifth orsix. He hits better when he's in
the back end of the middle ofthe lineup. He does it too well
when he's beat him at the topof the lineup. I understand that there

(31:53):
are just some guys that hit betterA little lower in the lineup, and
that it feels like that is Spencer'syear, and yeah, yeah, you
gotta bat him in the middle,in the middle of the lineup. He
doesn't hear well at the top.And then I will make them two tweets
and then go from there. Butto me, when in life, when
you struggle at anything, it's allabout the fundamentals. You got to go

(32:15):
back to the fundamentals and build yourselfback up from there. So I think
when they come to the to thelineup, the consistent thing I'm seeing is
they're taking that first pitch for astrike. Most of the batters in that
lineup they take the first pitch fora strike and they're constantly hitting from behind

(32:37):
in the cow. I mean,Elie swings at that first pitch, and
I think that's a good thing withhim, but I think most of them
they get out their slum. Theyneed to start swinging at that first pitch
yet and then kind of go fromthere. So I'll get off and then
see what the other callers got thesame, right, Mark, I appreciate

(32:59):
that. Thank you. You know, there is this to Austin, and
I'm with you. I I thoughtthat the lineup last night is constructed in
the way that you need to seeand want to see this Red's lineup going
forward. Obviously Matt McClean being backand Noeve Marte would be a welcome side
as well. You also can't discount, and I know it gets magnified because

(33:23):
they've lost five in a row andthe offense has been terrible. Sometimes you
also have to understand you're you're goingup against a guy and Zach Gallen who's
really good. Yeah, you know, I mean that. I was thinking
about that last night too. It'slike, listen, if they hadn't lost
five in a row. Yeah, you go up like last night, it's
like, man, you tip yourcap to that gin. You go up

(33:43):
and you're like, man, ZachAllen's good. Yep. Try to get
the next two, yep. Butwhen you've scored four to one, one
zero two and you're about in oneforty one over your last six, a
series win, by the way, would qualify as a sign of life.
Agreed, winning the next two,Yes, that's a good start. Uh
see Wick, what's up? Hey, Tony? What's going on? Addie?

(34:05):
I guess says I am, Iam on the ledge. I'm ready
to jell. What can what broughtme down? Austin brought me down saying
let's get a week. Wait, what can the Reds do? What?
What can the Reds do to letthe man talk? To make you feel
better about that? I want eightto twelve hits, like three out of

(34:27):
four games or something like who hitsthree hits? Four hits? That's all
they do. We don't ever,We can't have eight hits in the game.
We didn't even have eight hits ina series right now? Doel m
McKeith or whatever his name is.He's cheeks, Terry Bradshaw cheeks, Tim
LaMonte cheats, David Bell cheat,Freddy Binnavie's cheeks. And I feel sorry

(34:53):
for j R. House and calGill. I guess these guys don't like
him. They don't want to comevisit him. Guys coaches on the basis
or something, right, maybe it'ssomething against them. I mean, they
gotta do something. I mean, when did Tony Perez got fired right around
here? Right like? You gottado something with the HITTI pitch? Yeah,

(35:16):
that that's I guess. I guess. I guess see what that's my
next thing is in a year wherethe expectations are no longer to just quote
be ahead of schedule. How longdo you allow this type of offense or
this type of at bats? Howlong do you let that linger before you
have to do something something to tryto jump start this offense. You said,

(35:40):
if they lose ten, you mightput on the wig. I hope
not. I think you should puton the shirt. Oh, the shirt
and the wig would be we mighthave to put an n SFW label on
that though. Uh see way, thank you man. You guys are awesome.

(36:00):
Appreciate Wick, appreciate. Seawick wasthe one who brought you this.
Yeah, I know, I know. And it's crazy because you know now
that Seawick has bought me that shirt. Now I have to let him finish
a sentence. You you didn't evenlet him make his point. No,
no, I had I had to. I had to interject. And we're

(36:21):
on like me on the weekend, and we're on different lanes right now,
me and Seawick's let me tell youthis right now, say it. It's
gonna it's gonna have to be alot more than a ten game losing streak
to get me in that shirt. No what it is yet but it's gonna
be a lot longer than a tengame. Look, okay, let's let's
workshop that. You know. Isit ten games under five hundred? That's
what. That's something we're gonna haveto put a lot more time into than

(36:44):
a thirty second workshop. Okay,I'm gonna get one more phone call.
I'm gonna get us to a break. What's up, Mike? Hey,
Hey, guys. I enjoy thediscourse regarding the it's early crap. No,
I can't stand it. I'm sotired of hearing this my whole life.
It's early. Why is a gamein August more important than a game

(37:07):
in April? It's not? Arethey? Are they saying pable that it
could be? It's impossible? Doyou think in Miami right now they're like,
hey, you know what, it'sa long season because they're ten and
twenty eight. No, the're season'sover. The Colorado Rockets their season is
over. The White Sox, theirseason is over. None of this.
There's still so much time left.If you don't figure your stuff out now,

(37:30):
June, July, August, it'snot even gonna matter for you.
Oh it's not, and games areit's it's not even logically possible that a
game in September is more important thana game than April, because it's just
a numbers game, right right. So I've just people would just back off
that because it's kind of a crappyexcuse. Yeah. I get the long
season. I get that it's agrind and and and you're going to go

(37:53):
through ups and downs. But ifyou don't keep yourself afloat now, it
won't matter matter what you do.And all we'll do in June July is
in August. And say, youknow, had they not just done that
in May, they would be ina good spot. And then you'd wish
you could come back and say itwasn't just another game. But these games
do have a lot of meaning rightnow. Yeah. I mean my wife

(38:14):
used to say, hey, it'searly, honey, you know what I'm
saying. And I had to changethat issue because it's early. Wasn't satisfying
mama. There you go, Therewe go. That's all I got.
Guys, have a great one, thanks, Mike, take a break,
Austin. We just play a littleDavid Bell and let's see what the manager

(38:36):
has to say. I look forwardto about this, uh, this slump
I'm sure I have not, andI've not heard it yet. I'm assuming
it's going to be something about, well, we're gonna come out of this
really soon and everything's going to beokay. I would imagine it's, you
know, him saying, if wedon't fix this soon, I'm going to
lose my mind. Yeah, okay, I'd like to see David Bell go
as his team bye, he goesit up fires if he says that,

(39:00):
I'll put the shirt on when weget back. Or A service of Skyline

ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.A service of our good friends at Skyline

(39:23):
Chili, anytime you're feeling good andhungry at Skyline Time Austin. Before we
get to our number two, dowe have a little David Bell from last
night? We sure do, Tom, I'm sure, as we mentioned before,
this is him going at the playersand telling him to wake up and
what they need to have you everseen Angels in the outfield, I have
that scene when the manager loses hismind in the clubhouse. Yes, this

(39:45):
is pretty similar stuff here, David. That's separating everything. I mean tonight,
I know, we all know we'vebeen struggling offensively over the last you
know, since we've been home here, So tonight, you know, just
keeping it. It was about tonight. It was a new day for us.
We came out and uh, youknow, we weren't able to get

(40:05):
it done tonight offensively. Zach Allenhad a lot to do with that.
So just it's one pitch at atime, one game at a time.
We come back tomorrow and do itall over again, and that's that's how
we'll get through this. Frankie seemedto be in a rhythm from the start,
and uh, you know, hisvelocity was up. What did you
see from him? Really good?I mean the velocity was back for sure,

(40:30):
but good split, good two seam, four seam, good cutter.
I mean he was he was reallygood. I know, first time back,
he had had a two week layoff, so wouldn't go too deep in
the game, but he got uspretty deep into it. And thought of
that had to do with just howgood his stuff was and how he fishing.
He was. Yeah, I don'tthink you guys had to lead like

(40:52):
forty two winnings. How important wouldbe just get destract one morn or two
runs play with for sure and it'sgoing to happen. Yeah, I mean
you want to play with the leadfor sure. You know we've come back
in our sheriff of games over thelast couple of years. But but yeah,

(41:15):
I mean, anything like that couldbe helpful, and you know,
just to to take some of thepressure off. But they're that the pressure
is always going to be there. So whatever we need to do to win
games, and you know, we'reagain doing doing what it takes. But
tonight was tonight and we'll come backtomorrow. Tonight was tonight and we'll come

(41:37):

That's what I strive for every dayin my family. Today tonight,

(43:30):
we'll get to a couple of callshere in just a minute. You mentioned
Jordan Montgomery pitching tonight for the ArizonaDiamondbacks Austin. It's Graham Ashcraft for the
Cincinnati Reads. Grand Ashcraft a slowstart to the season, but against Texas

(43:52):
on the twenty sixth, he wentsix and a third gave up just one
run. Against San Diego on Mayfirst, he went six innings and didn't
allow an earned run. He's alsohad a five and two third outing against
the White Sox where he only gaveup one earned run, and against the
Phillies in a loss, he wentsix innings and gave up two earned runs.

(44:15):
Four of Graham ashcraft six starts thisyear have been quality starts turned in
by the right hander for the CincinnatiReds. We often talk about streak stoppers
in sports, Right who's gonna getthe ball and take the mound today and
say enough's enough? Six games isenough? Can Graham Ashcraft be that player

(44:37):
today? Because you essentially wanted tobe a guy in the rotation right because
the batting order, one guy can'thave as much of a say. And
unless you look what Corbyn Carrol didlast night or Bryce Harper did against the
Reds earlier in the year. Butfrom a pitcher standpoint, and I know
what you're saying, they've wasted sixstraight quality starts. Can Graham Ashcraft be
the guy tonight to take the moundand go six or seven innings, I

(45:00):
give up a run and give thisteam a legitimate chance to go win a
baseball game. We'll see. Austinmentioned earlier. Reds are now five games
out in the n AL Central. They owned the longest losing streak in all
of Major League Baseball. Crazy stat. Outside of the Reds, who have

(45:20):
lost six straight games, the nextlongest losing streak is the Saint Louis Cardinals
at four and then two or threeother teams with three in a row.
Outside of that, those are thelongest losing streaks. The Reds possess it.
How about the Cardinals what they didlast night? Oh with their catcher
Wilson Contreras. Yeah, so theythey weren't getting enough low strike calls when

(45:43):
Wilson Contreras was catching, so theyinstructed him to move up closer to the
plate, and I don't know whowas hitting, but someone swung the bat
and hit it right into Wilson.Contreras's forearm in a ton of pain left
the game immediately. Can you imaginethat? I mean, you're gonna talk
about things going from bad to worse. Your catcher gets hit by a ball

(46:07):
and you're already six and a halfgames out in the NL Central Crazy.
You were talking, by the way, about Graham Ashcraft. Earlier. I
talked about Jordan Montgomery his career numbersagainst the guys on the Reds. There
are four, count them, fourArizona Diamondbacks with an ops plus or excuse

(46:27):
me, an ops over one thousandagainst Graham Ashcraft. Cotel Marqua at one
point two, Lordus Gorriel Junior atone point six, who has a home
run off of Ashcraft, Randall Gritchukat one thousand. Even Corbyn Carrol his
OPS against Ashcraft in just three atbats is two thousand. Pretty damn good.

(46:53):
Every player on the team that hasfaced Graham ash is all but three.
All but three Diamondbacks have faced GrahamAshcraft, and all but two of
those have hits against him. Youyou mentioned earlier Dar in our pre show
a stat that Lance McAllister had givenas well about batting averages. Yeah,

(47:15):
so I kept citing this going intothe season, about how I thought the
Reds were going to be good andhow I thought it was a great stat
that Lance came up with all theguys that had left this team this offseason
that had accounted for twenty one percentof there at bats last year. Yes,

(47:36):
So, guys on this list includeNixon, Zel, Kevin Newman,
Joey Vado, Jose Berrero, WillMyers, Kurt Casally, Henry Ramos,
Jason Vossler, TJ Hopkins, HunterRenfroe, and Harrison Bader. The all
those guys last year were twenty onepercent of the Reds played appearances. They
went two eighty for one, threeand forty nine. That is a batting

(48:00):
average of two oh seven. Wow. The twenty twenty four Cincinnati Reds without
every single guy I just named, have a batting average of two oh seven.
Unbelievable. That like, that's almostso ridiculous that it gives me hope
to think there's no way the currentiteration of the Reds is as bad as

(48:23):
that list of guys I just gaveyou, And there's no way that they'll
continue this trend of being that badfor that long. One can sure as
hell hope not. I mean onecan hope not. I mean, come
on, Sponge, Steve is callingin, Steve, what's up Hey doing
manin Charlotte? You know, Southtrying to hold it down here with the

(48:45):
Bengals fan God's Country. Yes,Flash Plashot still have a single Stephen tickets
for the Bengals the game hang outthe Grail. But I think I think
the losing streak at black Ball,uh, because my friends called me schwet
rock. I go to a gametall man. Uh, what's the Philadelphia

(49:07):
game? Uh? Not too longago. But if we had bases loaded,
uh seventh inning, it couldn't score. Uh. And I'm like,
you know, so I think Ineed to come up there and visit one
more game, and that way Ican relieve the slump for everybody. Yes,
yeah, I think so too.And the seconds. So the Bengals,
Uh, I'm really looking forward toseeing that. Say that the schedule

(49:30):
come out next Wednesday, because hopefullythey're coming down here to Charlotte hopefully,
and the Panthers have a home gamein Munich. Any any idea on you
know, if we're possible to geta home you know, get that game
in Munich with the Panthers. Iknow we got a game with them cus
the Cave. Are you guys travelingto that? I know I am.

(49:52):
Yeah. And then on the lastweek the guy yesterday, that's the guy
who was telling Joseph the short armsand the clock and uh, I must
wreck the band. Yes, that'sfunny. I mean I think sometimes he's
got he won yesterday the longtime liftterguys, I'll call him in. But

(50:15):
uh, I appreciate the show. And you got that, you got that,
thank you, Uh schlep Rock,Steve, thank you appreciate that.
Very good. I don't believe theBengals will being Germany Austin. Yeah,
I think, Uh, there's apossibility because of the uh Panthers the rest

(50:36):
of their home schedule. UH,if you give me just a second to
pull this up. I had readPeter King talked about this a little bit
a few months ago prior to hisretirement. Uh. But their home schedule
outside of their division, and theNFL does not like to put division games
overseas. Uh, they play theGiants, Cowboys, Cardinals, Chief Chargers,

(51:01):
Bengals. The Chiefs, Cowboys andBengals would be considered like big time
draws for Carolina because of how goodthose teams are, and Carolina's just knock
and the Panthers will not be willingto give up a home game, especially
for the Cowboys or the Chiefs. The Bengals, I think are among that

(51:22):
list, are the least likely, the most likely to go overseas. We're
gonna do that a little bit tomorrow. I might I might have a prediction
for which week that'll be. TheGiants, Chargers, and Cardinals make more
sense to send them over there,I think, But it's not out of
the realm of possibility. If youhad to add, if you had,

(51:44):
if I had to guess which ofthose six teams I would rank the Giants
is the most likely, then theChargers, then the Cardinals and the Bengals.
You know, if they were togo, which week I would want
it to be? Uh? Whenthey might have week nine? Get it?

(52:04):
Yeah, it's a German thing nine. Uh, Greg, Panthers would
probably fly you out though, rightabsolutely, I would be a guest of
the Panthers for that game, rightif it were against the Bengals, what's
up Greg so much? Hey,as we know, the Padres went out
and got Lewis or Roz over theweekend. Yep uh, you know,
a great deal house obviously for them. But you know the first thing Fernando

(52:27):
to Teeth said, Wow, thisis great. We're getting the best enter
in baseball. He gets on allthe time. You know what, We're
gonna score a lot more runs andwe're gonna we're gonna win a lot more
games. So anyway, like youwould point out about the positive last night,
well, you know, Indy hita home run, Stevenson hit a
home run, which I agree withyou is positive. But single home runs

(52:49):
nobody on another loss. So Idon't know what would you do about it.
But as far as maybe we won'thave any other guys on other intreedle
that can get on I don't know. But because it comes to a point
with that hitting coach and David Bellsay we want more guys to try and
get on base, or do wego out maybe get a couple of guys

(53:13):
that can get on base. Yeah, I would at least try to go
get somebody that that's going to togive you more opportunities on base. And
again someone that maybe would would kindof strike up some confidence or change the
the attitude right now going on inthis clubhouse, which is obviously negative from
a hitting standpoint. And you knowanother thing, of course, I think

(53:36):
I've kind of thought about this foryears. I just think whether it's the
Reds or the opposing players, teams, they kind of play into the great
American small park. And that's whatI see with the Reds after almost forty
games, it's it's either a homerun or a strikeout. And I don't
know, and I'll tell you this. Last year we finished games over five

(54:01):
We were five hundred, I meanfive games under at home, and here
after twenty games, we're already twogames under five hundred. So obviously what
we're putting out there on a dailybasis is winning on our own ballpark.
Yeah, that you got it.You gotta find ways to hold serve at
home. Greg, thank you forthe call. I appreciate that. Uh,

(54:22):
I'm on board it. If they'regonna go get someone, go do
it. We we've talked and wementioned a little bit yesterday. We'll talk
about a little more today, aguy like Jazz Chisholm right now, Austin,
Uh, the Marlins are apparently inin cell mode. They've already moved
on from their multiple time All Starsecond basement. And right now jas Chisham

(54:44):
he's a guy that's under control fora couple more years. And if you
slid him in right now, Austin, he's batt in two forty three,
that'd be good enough for the secondbest average on the team. Wow at
two forty three. But again, young talented player, seems like he would
fit right in. There's a lotof different names we could throw out there,
but uh, that is certainly one. Did you watch the end of

(55:06):
the game last night with the Reds. Uh? Yeah, when Jonathan India
or Tyler Stevenson hit that home run. Did they put on the Viking helmet?
Do you do that when you're downsix to one or six to two.
I don't know if they did ornot. I feel like they did,
because normally they post a picture ofit on They didn't post a picture
from the social media account. Thatgood, very good, because I'm not

(55:30):
sure I want to see people inthe Viking helmet when you're down six to
one. I do you do?I don't? Oh? Tone? What
breaking? Breaking news? What happened? Stand by what Mike Ford? Tone?

(55:52):
Oh? John Hayman is reporting John, of course, the base fall
calumnist for the New York Post andan insider ram LB network, Mike Ford
has agreed to a major league dealwith the Cincinnati Red. Let's go Mike

(56:13):
Ford coming back to Cincinnati. Idon't know what the corresponding move will be,
Man, but Mike Ford is goingback to the Cincinnati Red. Help
is on the way. According toJohn Hayman of MLB nets, Wow,
what a move, Just the movewe needed this team to make. Also,

(56:37):
if I'm not mistaken, John wastweeting that the White Sox have traded
one of their good young players tothe Houston or excuse me, the Texas
Rangers have reacquired Robbie Grossman from theWhite Sox. So there's another team that's
selling. All right, let's puta list of these teams out there and
maybe get a little more aggressive.By the way, I think, Okay,

(57:00):
that was galous. Someone tweeted usto go get Gavin Sheets from the
White Sox, so maybe they're ina situation where they're looking to sell as
well. I would. I wouldimagine, you know, Jerks and Profar
signed a one year one Oh mygoodness, he signed a one year,
one million dollar deal with the uhthe Padres. It's I think it's eleven

(57:24):
million dollar deal the Padres with thePadres. Yeah, but he's he's playing
pretty well. It's pretty good. All right. We will be right back.

Okay, over the last five games, we know the Reds offense sucks,
but listen to this. Last fivegames, the Reds have scored six runs.
Last five games. For f CCincinnati, they've scored seven goals.
Okay, Over the last three games, the Reds have scored only four times.

(01:09:51):
have We've waited Austin. We talkedabout doing this Monday, huh, and
then a lot of things happened rightdoing this yesterday, and well, you
know, you just kind of getcaught up in the heat of the battle,
the heat of the moment, andnext thing you know, it's Wednesday,
and we haven't got to the storythat we were going to get to

(01:10:11):
on Monday. And I think it'sfascinating on many different accounts. Maybe it
goes into the team chemistry aspect, but please tell tell the story of what
happened over the weekend. Yeah.I was actually going to tell this story
on Sunday extra innings, but Ididn't didn't get around to it. We
pushed it back all this time tothis point. Now. On Sunday,

(01:10:38):
the Reds did their annual like highschool showcase thing where they bring in a
bunch of high school teams and theyget to go down on the field and
walk around, and they get abunch of tickets and they you know,
pep places from all over the youknow, Moler and all sorts of other
high schools around were there. Andone of the high schools that was there
was my high school, Sydney HighSchool. So the Sydney baseball team was

(01:11:01):
there and they got to go andthey got to hang out on the field
and walk around, showed them onthe jumbo tron, got tickets whole nine
yards, So got to see thesecond best team record wise in all of
baseball, that's correct. Yeah, and the team lead and the major league
leaders and homers. Ye. Soas the game is advancing to the middle

(01:11:23):
to later innings, some of theyou know, players from the Sydney team
are walking around and they go downto the visitors dugout, which is right
there next to the sun deck outand right field moon deck at night time
where you can watch the opposing team'spitchers warm up. And so you know,
they got the Sydney jerseys on andall this other stuff, and they're

(01:11:45):
kind of, you know, hasslingthe Orioles pitchers. And finally one of
the Orioles bullpen arms comes over andsays, hey, can we borrow your
shoe that we needed? This ballis stuck? Weird assd as ask,
right, but where was the ballstuck? I don't know. This is
this is where I'm fuzzy on thedetails. I got it secondhand, but

(01:12:09):
you know, being a young highschool kid eager to help out a big
leaguer, of course, yeah, here you can use my shoe. So
this young man by the name ofEthan new a very athletic, great young
man at Sydney. He is,you know, shirt off his back type
of guy. And he takes theshoe off of his right foot, throws

(01:12:30):
it down to the bullpen, tothe orioles. Orioles take it over,
and the shoe is not to bereturned. Now. So now before we
evance, are we talking a youknow, is this a lawn cutting shoe?
Is this a nice wear around shoe? Is it? So? From
the images that I received, itseems to be a pretty nice Nike shoe.

(01:12:51):
You know, it's not like youknow, it's not the the you
know, mud kickers or whatever youwant to call it. Uh, this
is a I'm looking at the ginright, here's just a nice Nike shoe,
like a training shoe, tennis shoe, great shoe. So throws it
down to the orioles. Orioles say, nah, we're good, We're not
giving you this back. And youcan imagine how a young man might feel

(01:13:15):
that he's now shoeless, right, and the Orioles have his shoe and not
really understanding what this is about.Well, apparently the Baltimore Orioles have this
thing that they do tone where theyhave a mannequin in their clubhouse and they
try to get as many pieces ofclothing articles of clothing as they can on

(01:13:38):
the road to dress this mannequin. And they were in need of a right
shoe wow, and they got itfrom Ethan new Wow. So some time
goes by and they're you know,he's trying to get his shoe back,
and the Orioles are basically telling himto pound sand. Incredible, you can't
have your shoe. You were dumbenough to throw it down here to us.

(01:13:59):
We're not giving you your shoe back. I mean I would be pissed,
absolutely, I would be furious. Here I am trying to help these
guys. Yeah, I'm trying tobe a decent human being. You've kicked
my team's ass for the last threedays, and I'm trying to help you.
And so finally he says, canI at least get a signed baseball
or something? And so the Oriolesgrab a ball and they pass it around

(01:14:21):
the bullpen and it is inscribed thankyou for your right shoe, and then
signed by the entire Orioles bullpen. Now that probably makes it worse. And
they threw it up to him.Okay, and I'll tweet the photo out
right now, great photo of theyoung man and incredible jaw line. I
think this kid's a quarterback for Sydney, so he's a beast. Anyways,

(01:14:45):
Yeah, maybe his decision making. This is a chance to improve that before.
This is a chance to improve thatbefore football rolls around. But is
it worth it to give up yourright shoe man for an autographed baseball from
the Orioles bullpen? I think howmany members of the Orioles bullpen can you
name outside of Craig. I wasgonna say that pretty much starts and stops

(01:15:09):
with me at Craig Timbrel, eventhough they all got to be pretty pretty
good based on what I watched thisthe previous weekend. A couple of things.
One, I'm a little concerned yousaid the guy that threw a shoes
name is what. I'm a littleconfused and concerned with Ethan's decision making in

(01:15:30):
the sense that everyone in that bullpenalready has shoes on. They could have
taken one of theirs off to getthe ball or whatever. We're stuck.
But I get it. You're inthe heat of the moment. Here are
these big leaguers saying, hey,can we borrow this so we can do
something? Absolutely okay, I'll helptwo. I mean, they got baseballs
down there, they got bats, they probably don't have bats. They got

(01:15:53):
everything you probably need to get somethingunstuck. Correct. Now, what I
do think is cool is unique memorabilia. And he now has a piece of
unique memorabilia that I would venture tosay, no one else out there has.
That's a that's a true one ofone. You know. I always
wanted a league of their own.Tom Hanks, Jimmy Dugan, the character

(01:16:16):
he played. Yeah, they're gettingon the bus getting ready to go to
a game, and these kids comeup to Jimmy Dugan and they say,
mister Dugan, can you sign thisball? And he signs it and they
look at him and it said avoidthe clap, Jimmy Dugan. And I
was always like, man, ifI ever met Tom Hanks, I would
want him to sign a ball likethat. Sure, And so Ethan now
has a true. One of one. It's true. That's I think the

(01:16:40):
positive. Also, I'd love toget inside the clubhouse and see what that
mannequin looks like. Yeah, soI was. I was searching for that
over the weekend. I haven't founda photo of it. I hadn't done
it. Maybe they've done a goodjob of keeping it hush hush, yeah,
because you don't want people to know, because then you'll never get anything
right. I haven't like found anarticle about it or anything. Man,

(01:17:03):
But yeah, decision making, contextclues, logical, you know it just
logic really was out the window forEthan. I think he got caught up
in the moment trying to be abig leaguer. Yeah, and next thing
you know, he's without a shoeand he's got a baseball. He had
to walk all the way back tothe car. He had to go an
hour and forty minutes back to Sydneywith no shoe. Incredible, pretty funny,

(01:17:26):
absolutely incredible. Yes, And nowthe out of the Orioles, because
that story, that's hilarious. Maybethat's why they're winning. Maybe the team
chemistry in the locker room is sogood, and maybe they're maybe they're battling
with the you know, the theclubhouse or the the and you think about
this, like the amount of placesthat team goes on the road, right
imagine within their own division. Yep, Like you get ruffed up in Boston,

(01:17:51):
you get ruffed up in New York. And if that just makes it
a little bit easier to steal fromthose people. Man, man, incredible,
I like that, incredible, incrediblestory. Glad we got to it.
Now we're at the end of ournumber two. All right, look,
wow, we wasted ten minutes onthat story. Our number three,
here's what we got. Bob Manjenis going to join us. Mulager will

(01:18:14):
join us for quick hits and locksof the night. And there's a couple
of things going on. We gota NFL schedule just coming out a week
from today something like that. We'regoing to talk a little bit about some
mock scheduling. And there's this NFLNBA crossover conversation that's happening. Austin Rivers
started this, I have to jumpin on it. We'll get to that

(01:18:36):
in our number three as well.Essentially, if you're not familiar yet and
you want to prime yourself up,Austin Rivers said, he could take thirty
NBA players right now and put himon an NFL field. You can't take
thirty NFL players and put them ona basketball court. We'll get to that
and more when we get back. Our two is done thanks to our friends
at Cincy Shirts. This is Sincythree sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati sport

(01:18:58):
Welcome back. You heard it rightthere. Number three on Cincy three sixty,
A service of our friends at PennStation. As we get this third
and final hour underway on ESPN fifteenthirty Cincinnati Sports Station, we'll do so
right now. With the National Directorof Sports Physical Therapy Clinical Residency for novacare
our good friend who joins us eachand every week, Bob Manjean. What's
up, Bob Tony? How I'mgood? How are you beautiful till the

(01:19:23):
storms come? Yes? Yes,look, Bob, here's what I want
to get to today. Over theweekend, on Sunday twenty six point two
miles were run by a ton ofpeople in Cincinnati and those coming into Cincinnati
for what is known as the FlyingPig Marathon. From a training aspect,
how different is the training that goesinto a marathon versus the normal sports that

(01:19:49):
that we usually talk about in thissegment. Well, parrathons a unique situation,
Tony, because you are trying torun, you know, twenty six
plus miles and you know that's justnot I'll use the word normal for a
lot of people who ran the halfmarathon, and again, they just have

(01:20:12):
to get into certain conditions. Youhave to ramp up slowly, you have
to make sure prior to the dayyou're running that you're hydrated, You've got
enough you know, nutritional content inyour system. You've got to pace it
to the point where you know thatI can make it to mile five,
and that I can you know there'llbe people there with water breaks. I

(01:20:33):
can make it to mile ten andthere's people there panting water out. So
that you kind of condition yourself toget to that distance. And the rule
of thumb generally is that if youcan get to seventy to eighty percent of
your day the twenty sixth miles, you can usually complete complete the marathon.

(01:20:57):
My hat goes off too, andvery few people thanks these individuals. Is
I was at the finish line withthe University of Cincinnati emergency room staff,
the nurses, all kinds of peoplefrom every hospital in the region had people
down there to help with the nursingstaff, the flebottomists, the athletic trainers,

(01:21:19):
the fiscal therapists, and let metell you, it was a half
marathon where you know, they werereally working on a lot of people,
a lot of cold tubs, youknow, people coming in with cramps.
And my hat goes off to thosepeople because they give up a Saturday and
Sunday in their life to help peopleout. And you know, people don't

(01:21:44):
you know, people don't respect themenough for what they do quite honestly in
healthcare. But the people training reallyneed to ramp it up. And then
on the day of the competition, within forty eight hours the competition really start
to eat, make sure they're eatingthe high carbs and making sure they're hydrating
well, and then know how farthey go before they have to take that

(01:22:08):
next hydration break or the next nutritionalbreak. That's that's the thing people just
assume, all right, you're runninga marathon, all you got to do
to train is just run long distances. But it's more than that. It's
your diet. It's probably different typesof strength and conditioning training other than just
going out there and running. There'sa lot of different things that go into

(01:22:28):
getting ready to compete. To gorun twenty six point two miles. Oh
yeah, you've got to. There'ssome days you need to do airical work
instead of distance work in yourself. There are some days you need to run
on different surfaces to sort of saveyour knees and your hips. You know,
running is not for everybody. Youknow, my favorite saying with people
with early arthritic changes is not everybodywas built with michelins. And you know

(01:22:55):
running running is hard, and it'scompressive loading on your knees that can be
as high as eight times your bodyweight, and if you do that too
many times, you're going to startgetting breakdown. And you know, some
of these people are coming in andthe next day, I'm sure with knee
soreness and hips soreness and stiffness andaching, and they really have to take

(01:23:17):
care of themselves and make sure theystretch day the night of the day after
and work themselves into the recovery phase. But you're right about one other thing,
and that is that they have toreally work on strengths training as well.
So it's not just the running,it's also lifting it's mobility exercises.

(01:23:38):
It's on love to tell people allthe time, take up yoga. It's
great mobility exercise, especially in myrecreational population, but even our basketball team
and the coach Rafel, you know, we'll do some yoga sessions in the
course of the year. Bob,you mentioned the finish line. You see

(01:23:59):
it all the time, and thatthat people before they crossed the finish line
are cramping up or unable to finish. You see people cross the line and
collapse. What what are these racers? What are these runners going through?
Not just immediately following the race, but the days after the race ends.
Well, you build up a lotof like tate ass in your system,

(01:24:20):
which is what caused the delayed onsetof muscle sore on us. They end
up getting dehydrated and you end upwith a chemical imbalance with your creat and
some of the other markers that welook at, and then they break down.
They break down the protein within themuscle, you know, like remember

(01:24:42):
when you use the lift here andwe would have the Gatorade protein shape,
yes, right as you were superheavy, ye, and so when you
lifted, we made you drink oneor two protein shakes because you were breaking
down muscle when you were lifting, and we wanted that immediate. Can't start
giving you the protein shakes, Andthese people really need to make sure that

(01:25:03):
you know, in this first threeor four days after the marathon that they're
taking in the you know, firstof all, they got to drink water,
because water, water water. They'vewasted a lot of water, which
one of the reasons you get thattechnical imbalance and you start getting the cramping.
But once they're dehydrated and that proteinbuilds up and lactate acid builds up

(01:25:26):
in the system, the muscle justsays, hey, we're done, So
we're going to send you a littlebit of a warning. That warning is
going to be cramping. And thensome people try to push through that and
then the next thing, you know, they start to you know, they
go down and they start to becomelethargic, and you see all kinds of
different symptoms with it. But youknow that when you get to that point,

(01:25:46):
your core body temperature is high, and you've got to get into the
cold tanks or you've got to icedown when you're done so that you can
bring your core temperature back down, because that's whatever being get that's when it
gets dangerous. Your body is constantlytrying to tell you you need to listen
to it at any chance you're you'reable to. Uh. That is a

(01:26:08):
Bob Manjean uh from from novacare thenational director of Sports Physical Therapy Clinical Residency
for novacare As. We get connectedeach and every week. Bob, appreciate
the time this week. Next week, I want to spend some time on
the foundation, the Matthew Man JeanJunior Foundation and everything coming up with that.
Uh. We always appreciate your timethis week and we'll talk next week.

(01:26:29):
Buddy, Tony, thank you.And it's getting close to the golf
sighting and you and I are paradox. Let's go, so you better,
you better be warm, different readyto go. I'm ready to go.
And Uh, if my body startsto fail, I know you'll be there
to help me. You got it? Yeah, water, never mind,
I won't say what will be drinking. That won't be all water. That's
it. Thank you, Bob isthat's a Bob Man Jean from novacare To

(01:26:54):
kick us off an hour number threewhen we come back. Uh. The
schedule release from the National Football Leagueis coming out to have a conversation about
the schedule release, and we stillhave to have a conversation about this NFL
NBA crossover. I've got thoughts. Those thoughts will be had here in our
number three along with Mowager for quickhits and locks of the night on Cincy
three sixty thanks to Penn Station onthe Home of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen

(01:27:16):
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. The threesixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati's Sports station. Welcome back ourthree Sincy three sixty, a service of

(01:27:40):
Penn Station, as we move alonghere on this Wednesday afternoon on the Home
of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's Sports Station. We learned last
night Austin, we are now todaya week away from the NFL schedule release,
and that as everything else in theUH, the Bengals off season and

(01:28:03):
the NFL offseason has become a reasonto get together and celebrate, and it's
become the last big thing yeah beforetraining camp. You know, It's like
it gets to the point where Ilook forward to this day so much because

(01:28:23):
of what the social media departments foreach team can do. Yeah, like
there's nothing better next week than watchingeach and every franchise uniquely unveil their schedule
and the end that's the schedule getsit, but by how the teams do
it creatively, and the Bengals evenput a teaser out, I believe.
Yesterday yeah, with Patrick from SpongeBobcorrect, he kept taking calls at the

(01:28:47):
Krusty krab and it was when's theschedule release coming? And Patrick was getting
very angry. I hope that theirunveiling of the schedule is SpongeBob teamed man,
just as somebody who's speaks the languageof the sponge Yeah, I hope
that it is SpongeBob themes. Andyou know what's unique about as the schedule

(01:29:08):
will be released next week is thatJoe Burrow spoke about the possibilities of the
eighteen game schedule yesterday. Listen tosome of these if you didn't catch it
yesterday. Joe Burrow said in responseto the possibility of an eighteen game season,
he said, eighteen games is abig ask. That's not easy.

(01:29:29):
Adding that extra game obviously it's greatfor revenue, but I feel like adding
that bye week if you're going tohave an eighteen game schedule is pretty critical
for our bodies. He went onto say this, Austin, if you
keep that first bye week, someteams have the first bye week week five
to six, and then you're goingtwelve thirteen games in a row. That's
not easy through a Thursday night gamein there. But he also trotted out
the idea of doing something like thefirst bye week how it is now,

(01:29:53):
and then you make a second byeweek where everyone has it at once,
almost like you know, Pro Bowlweek or All Star week for the NBA.
Yeah, you know, and Burrowssome people get paid a lot more
money to figure this stuff out.But I like that idea. That's my
thought with with how let's call itwhat it is, no one cares about

(01:30:15):
the Pro Bowl. No, withwhere the Pro Bowl is, would the
NFL be better off to do sometype of mid season bye week or off
week where you could celebrate something likethat In a sense, I don't know
that you would be able to reallystill call it the Pro Bowl if players
aren't there, and players will notwant to spend that time off playing flag

(01:30:39):
football, nor should they. Couldyou find anything to put there? Yes,
you can find something to put there. This is the NFL for God's
sakes, but it's a good ideafor mine. You can find something to
put there. Yeah, I likethat idea. That makes more sense.
Give everybody a week off. Youcan fill that time with shit and assessing

(01:31:00):
it and whatever, and you canturn that into something, find a name
for it. It's a bunch ofjust people analyzing the season to this point,
whatever it might be. I thinkthat's a great idea. Find a
way for tv TV to basically sellthat. So maybe you have an hour

(01:31:20):
long show on each network that Sundayand they'll have a couple of head coaches
on, or they'll have a GMor a quarterback on, and then Monday
night on ESPN will be a primetimeversion of the same thing. So something
along those lines where you're still gettinga football fix and you're leaning into those
TV networks so they still have abig audience. So something along those lines.

(01:31:42):
That's the number one thing. TVnetworks run this league as they do
every league, and they are notgoing to want a second by week where
they have a week in schedule. Now for them, it might just be
more beneficial to say we'll take acrappy schedule rather than a week where nobody
he's playing right, But then you'dhave to look at bye weeks as a
whole because, like again, asBurrow said, some teams have bye week

(01:32:04):
Week five, yeah, week six, and then you're playing a seventeen game
slate. That's a long stretch ifyou're going to the playoffs as well.
So that's something to watch out for. We have a little mock scheduling that
we can do even as a segmenttomorrow, where we can kind of look
at the opponents and we'll do ourbest. And then what we'll do is

(01:32:27):
we'll I thought we were doing thatright now. Well, I was gonna
I want to I have to talkabout this NBA thing. Yeah, well
we're going to talk about talking aboutthese NBA players. But I don't have
I don't have all my schedule ready. Oh see, I see, I
felt lied to. I had Ihave eighteen games. I had seventeen games
right order, and I got televisionnetworks starting times all of it. I

(01:32:49):
saw that, and I knew Iwasn't ready. Oh but did you did
you? Did you give win losseswith all yours as well? No,
I haven't done that. Because whatwe'll do we'll announce our mock schedules tomorrow.
We'll keep them here in studio andwe'll see how many we actually get.
Right. Yes, I thought thatwas the whole of what we were
doing. Right, rumors, andthis is now for the next week.

(01:33:11):
This is what you'll get for thenext week, is rumors of I'm hearing
that the Ravens and Chiefs are startingthe season. Oh, it's the best
thing ever. I'm hearing that thisgame is a done deal. Yeah,
they'll announce a couple of them aheadof time. They're smart. Now,
you did say I got the Bengals. I'll say this, I got the
Bengals as three. Okay, countthem three. I'm gonna tell you right

(01:33:31):
now, they're getting more than that. You said earlier though, that you
think the delay and the schedule releaseis due to what Christmas. I thought
it was interesting earlier today Boomera Sizonon his show said that don't be surprised
if the NFL and Netflix get togetherfor Christmas games. From what I've heard

(01:33:55):
and I listened to Mike Florio alittle bit today on his show this morning,
Basically, during the draft, theteams were told to be expecting the
schedule release like today or tomorrow, and then recently yesterday they were sent out
a notice from the league that saysit's going to be on the fifteenth,

(01:34:16):
so be ready for it on thefifteenth. Florio said he doesn't know what's
holding it up. I've heard fromBoomer and maybe some others that perhaps Christmas
games are throwing a wrench in thisentire thing, which I think Christmas is
on like a Wednesday this year orsomething like that, and the NFL loved
how good that has gone the lastfew years, so they're going to try

(01:34:40):
to make it work on a Christmasgame this year. Christmas games this year.
Yes, So if you think aboutthat, they're going to have a
Friday game in Brazil, They're gonnahave Black Friday games, They're gonna have
Christmas games, not to mention theregular Sunday Monday Thursdays. The NFL is
crazy, I asked Mode this lastweek. Is there a point where the

(01:35:03):
NFL becomes too big for its owngood? I don't think so, because
I think that's kind of what's happeningwith college football right now, like it
became too big and the networks becametoo powerful that it kind of toppled up
over over itself. Now, theNC Double A is a train wreck to
begin with. That didn't help.It was already a wobbly foundation that they

(01:35:28):
were on and now all of asudden, Yeah, it's just it's a
mess. The NFL is much moresturdy than that. But I don't know.
So there's that in NFL news.We do know who the Bengals are
playing next year. Yes, outsideof the AFC North they Yeah, And

(01:35:48):
like I think it was Big Catthat said yesterday we got a announcement of
the date of the announcement. That'show the NFL rules. Yes, but
we already know who they're playing. The Angles at home next year. Baltimore,
Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Denver Broncos,Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles,
Washington Commanders, New England Patriots.Pretty weak home schedules. Philadelphia will be

(01:36:11):
the Markeee game. There the awayschedule, Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh,
they go to Dallas, to KansasCity, to the LA Chargers. Hello
at the New York Giants, atthe Carolina Panthers, at the Tennessee Titans
in the Tyler Boyd revenge games.I just think that the Bengals have done
so well with primetime games in Cincinnati, they'll get two of those, and

(01:36:32):
I think two of those road gameswill be primetime as well. So you're
saying four yep. Okay. Also, this happened yesterday. Austin, Please
don't Austin Rivers. Oh boy,Austin Rivers. Austin Rivers, Austin,
where do we even start? AustinRivers went on podcast yesterday and he said,

(01:36:53):
are we gonna do this? Inanother segment, I was gonna tease,
okay, but we're gonna. Ihave to lay this. Austin Rivers
said that essentially he could take thirtyNBA players right now and get him on
a football field in the NFL.He said, you cannot take thirty NFL
players right now and get him inthe NBA. I have thoughts on this,

(01:37:15):
as have many that we will getto when we get back. As

Okay, welcome on back sincey threeto sixty, ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station and a service of PennStation Mugger Quick Kids, Locks of the
Night coming up in just a fewminutes. But before any of that,
we got to address what started yesterday, and it's it's taken a lot of
social media by storm. Here Austin. Austin Rivers, son of Doc Rivers.

(01:39:18):
Austin is no longer playing or notat least currently playing in the NBA,
but Austin Rivers is in the newstoday because of something that he decided
to say yesterday, and it hasI would say it has sent many many

(01:39:39):
folks into a tailstorm? Is atailstormer word? What's the word I'm using
for? You're looking for tizzy?Tizzy that we could use tizzy send people
into a tizzy. Sure, wecould do any of that, But essentially
what happened is that yesterday Austin Riverssaid that he could get thirty NBA players

(01:40:02):
right now to go play in theNFL. And you just simply can't take
thirty NFL players and put them inthe NBA. He did it on the
Pat McAfee show yesterday. Rivers claimedthat the NBA players, and look,

(01:40:24):
here's where we'll start this. I'veseen a lot of NBA games. Lebron
could be a tight end in theNFL. Body wise. It matches up
right, You look at these guyson a basketball court. There's six six,
sixty seven sixty eight. They're running, they're strong, they're physical.
Very easy to say, all right, just take that and switch that over.
I get just from the physicality standpoint, why you could think that the

(01:40:46):
clop back that I've seen and thatI've had and most of the other folks
that I've seen is the grueling natureof the National Football League. Chris Long
came out on his podcast, andChris Long's main response was essentially, this

(01:41:08):
conversation would start and stop with NFLtraining camp. On Green Light with Chris
Long, he said, Look, this isn't like, hey, coach,
what time do we need to showup at shoot around? Said Chris Long,
this is eight am. You gota full padded practice and you're going
to have right when that practice getsstarted, you're going to do some inside
run and pads are on and there'sno load management through a month long training

(01:41:30):
camp. There's no load management throughthe NFL season. The physicality of it.
There's a reason that so many massagetherapists are on staff at NFL stadiums
because the physicality of the sport.Oh, by the way, you're not
getting out of meeting sometimes until nineor ten o'clock. It's different, said
Chris Long, than just getting toshoot around, getting to work out in
and getting on the field. It'salso different. It looks like from a

(01:41:55):
coaching standpoint, these coaches. Yougo to do an NFL practice, these
coaches are yelling, they're screaming, they're they're expecting more. That's not really
the NBA style. That's not reallythe head coaching style. It's analytics.
It's what are you do in thissituation? When do you call the time
out? And I'm not taking anythingaway from the NBA game, but from
a sheer physicality standpoint, I don'tthink many of the NBA guys would want

(01:42:19):
to make that transition. And thereare already players Austin that have played basketball
at a very high level and footballand have talked about the grueling nature of
football. So don't say that youcan't take guys on an NFL field and

(01:42:39):
put them on a basketball field.Antonio Gates talked about a long time for
his ability to play basketball. JimmyGraham, Julius Peppers, Tony Gonzalez are
all guys that played in the NFLthat I think could play or have played
in the National Basketball Association Austin.Have you ever seen t Higgins mixtape for

(01:43:00):
basketball? Uh huh He's incredible.Yeah, unbelievable. And Joe Burrows as
well. I've seen first hand TravisKelsey play basketball. Now, are they
gonna go be a star in basketball? Not? Not gonna be a thirty
play, thirty point per game typeguy. But for as many NBA guys
that are six six six seven, six eight and can run, go down

(01:43:23):
to a Bengals training camp practice thisyear and look at the size and athleticism
and see how fast those guys arerunning. So one the physicality standpoint doesn't
add up because both sides, bothsports have physical, very impressive players.
NBA is guaranteed money. Football isnot just not a cross over you make

(01:43:45):
if you're the NBA. Anyway,if you're really getting technical about it,
you're not leaving guaranteed money in theNBA to go play in the NFL as
opposed to the NFL. Sure,I can get all my contract guaranteed,
I'll go to the NBA. Ijust I know that common like this are
made to start conversations like this.I just think going NBA to NFL would

(01:44:08):
be a heck of a lot easier, I'm sorry. NFL to NBA would
be a heck of a lot easierfrom a physicality standpoint, from a growing
standpoint, than NBA to NFL.I think a couple of things about this.
Number One, I don't think youcould find thirty players from either league
to switch leagues. I think youmight be able to find a couple.

(01:44:29):
And I do think the transition fromthe NFL to the NBA would be easier.
You never hear about the grind ofthe NBA practice or the NBA training
camp. You hear a lot aboutthe grind of the season, but that's
all kind of been washed out withload management. And I do think from

(01:44:49):
a cardiovascular standpoint, from an endurancestandpoint, you absolutely have to give that
edge to the NBA. And Ithink to an extent, quickness goes to
the NBA as well. Well, they are so good, and I think
there's so much bigger than you think. On the basketball court, the length
that those guys have, creating space, getting a shot whenever you can you

(01:45:12):
can, that's really really hard todo. That's what separates the NBA from
the different levels of basketball, andthere's there may not be a bigger gap
in any sport than college basketball tothe NBA. It's humongous and so on
the flip side of that, thesheer physicality, the grind of an NFL
season, the grind of NFL practices, and so on. I mean,

(01:45:33):
you do hear about veterans that don'tpractice midweek, but the reason that is
is because their bodies are still recoveringfrom the games a couple of days before,
and so just the sheer physicality ofthe NFL I don't think can be
understated. And I do think thatChris Long is correct about the way that

(01:45:55):
you're coached is different, and theway that you have expectations from people is
different. The NBA is really popularand those guys are unbelievably good, but
I think I could find more footballplayers that could adapt easier to the NBA
game than I could NBA players thatcould adapt to the NFL game. I

(01:46:17):
mean, if even if you lookat the guys in the NBA for years
that were they had the biggest sizeand they were the strongest. Those dudes
have been phased out of the game. The center position is not nearly what
it used to be. And thatis what basically everybody in the NFL is
is that sort of size and strength. I mean, did you want Micah

(01:46:38):
Parsons killed the Celebrity Game. BukaNakuwa killed it in the Celebrity Game.
The way the games are officiated aredifferent. And I thought Mike Golick the
quote that stood out to me yesterday. Mike Golick said this, Austin,
there's contact in the NBA. Thereare collisions in the NFL. The physicality
is it's not the same. Yeah, you can't put it on the same
lane. I thought it was funnybecause everyone chimed in on this yesterday on

(01:47:01):
on social media. Obviously, JJWatt clop back at Austin Rivers. He
said, you don't have a jobin either right now. Go ahead and
try it. But how about RossTucker, Austin. I love Ross Tucker,
friend of the show Jams Shams tweetedthis out yesterday, says Nick Mitchell
Robinson sustained a stress injury to hisleft ankle and will be reevaluated in six
to eight weeks. Did you seeRoss Tucker's tweet? What did he say?

(01:47:25):
He said? What incredible timing.I know several NFL guys who've played
through multiple Pro football games with thisinjury, with this injury CC at Austin
Rivers twenty five. Don't know ifthat's fair to compare that, but I
like the way he's thinking. Thisis This is a class example. If
you've watched any of ESPN's NBA coverage, Yeah, it's very obvious what they

(01:47:47):
are trying to do with Austin Rivers. They are trying to make him the
next big thing. That his mugis all over the place. He carved
out a decent NBA career. Ithink you played for ten years. Obviously
the son of Doc helps him getin the door at ESPN. Well it
is, but now he's got arecognizable name. He's a good looking dude.
He played at Duke Like these areall the boxes that you check off

(01:48:11):
of being in a basketball analyst atESPN. Now how do you get him
now? They are putting him outthere and he's the one that's just saying
the craziest stuff. And if youwatch any of this stuff, I always
find myself going, huh uh.So this is another example of that.
And good for Austin Rivers. Goalmission accomplished there. It is but a

(01:48:31):
fun conversation to have, nonetheless, and waiting on you to say, you
could go average ten and ten inthe NBA. I could if I if
I got this, if I gotthe shot attempts. All right, that's
enough. There was This was anbut this was a conversation that happens in
every college around. Like when Iwas playing at UC you get with the
basketball guys, it's like, oh, I could go, but I could

(01:48:51):
do I could go to that.I'm out here doing two a days for
six hours. You guys are shootingshots in the gym. It's just it's
it's the competitive nature that it is. It's just now in today's world of
social media, it's a really funconversation to have. Uh. But very
easily NFL players translate into the NBAeasier than NBA to the NFL. We

(01:49:12):
got to get a break Moeger isstanding by eagerly waiting, eggerly egerly for
quick hits and locks of the night. That'll wrap up today's edition of Sincy
three sixty right here on ESPN fifteenthirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks to
Penn Station from the Brown Heating tempstock us on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's
Sports station. It's time for Cincythree sixty Quick Hits on ESPN fifteen thirty.

(01:49:39):
Yes, indeed, it is Welcomeback to Sincy three to sixty.
Here on ESPN fifteen thirty. Iam Austin Elmore, and you know,
sometimes life gets in the way,and Tony had to step out early to
go be a father. So we'regoing to allow him to do that,
and we are going to talk toMoeger as he prepares for the Moegger Show

(01:50:00):
right now on ESPN fifteen thirty.High Mo, Hello, Mo, Moe's
talking, Taren, can you goget Moe's attention. Moe's just typing.
I don't think he can hear me. But the news of the day is
that Christian Incarnassion Strand has been puton the injured list by the Cincinnati Reds.

(01:50:21):
That is the breaking news happening rightnow on Quick Hits is Christian incarnassion
Strand has been placed on the tenday injured list by the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds have then signed infielder MikeFord as we talked about earlier, and
transferred to the sixty day injured listleft hander Brandon Williamson. So that's the

(01:50:45):
big news. Christian and karnassion Strand, who got hit by a pitch on
the hand a week and a halfor so ago, he is now on
the injured list. Moe, yourreaction upon seeing such news, Oh,
man, Well, where do youwant to begin? I guess the first
one would be why was he playing? To begin with? Right, he
got hit on the hand a weekand a half ago, missed a couple

(01:51:08):
of games, came back, wasnot effective, not like he was really
hitting before. But I have neverheard of this particular injury, so I'm
not going to pretend to be anexpert on it. But why was he
playing? And if I remember correctly, when he had the X rays,
it came back negative for what theythought it was, but it revealed an

(01:51:29):
old fracture. Yeah, is thisthe old fracture? Is this a new
fracture? That's these are the questionswe don't have the answers to. I
don't know. I mean, like, on one hand, just from an
availability standpoint, On one hand, you know this this hurts him, It
hurts his development in an ideal world, Christian and Karnasi on strand is getting
at bats and getting better. Onthe other hand, it's not like he

(01:51:51):
was really helping the team. Butmore than anything, it just it just
it makes you wonder, what dothey do? Yeah, and I don't
One of my least favorite tropes isblame the training staff, blame the medical
staff. I think it's you know, I don't blame my doctor when I
get a cold. At the sametime, this feels weird like you had

(01:52:14):
a guy who had an injury thatgoes back to a week and a half
ago, and you decided to havehim go play, Like what are we
doing? The other part that doesn'tquite make sense to me is that he
told the Reds that he didn't knowwhen that fracture would have happened. Yeah,
and that it was a pain tolerancething. But at the same time,

(01:52:38):
he has been absolutely completely not productiveright at all this season or in
spring training. So I would putthe clues together to access to come up
with the idea that something happened. He probably knew about it, didn't want
to tell anybody, and now hisperformance has suffered until he actually got hit

(01:52:58):
and revealed the actual thing. That'sjust my guess as to what's as my
speculation as to what is happening. My guess is he went to that bar
downtown and punched Aaron Boupenza. Ohmy gosh, could you imagine? Could
you imagine? I wish that wouldhave happened two months ago, so we
would have had some sort of explanationfor all this. No, I don't.
By the way, the ulna isthe outside as somebody who has broken

(01:53:19):
that bone before. It is theoutside bone in your arm. Okay,
so that connects to the wrist iswhere they say his fracture is. I
don't get it, Like I don't. I don't get it. But like,
here's my thing. Now, it'sgonna be another log on the old

(01:53:40):
old Hurt guys coming back are gonnabe the best trade deadline acquisitions fire that
is already starting to burn, right, Yeah, hurt guy. It's my
one of my favorites. Hurt guyscoming back going to be the best trade
deadline acquisition, so I guess. And then you add to it the Mike
Ford thing, right, Mike Ford. Mike Ford's back which said he was

(01:54:00):
supposed to go fishing with his dadtoday, but he said this is a
better place to be. I don'tknow if that's true. I don't know,
man, I'm not a big fishingguy. Got to go in general.
I mean, you'd be quiet betterbatting average Mike Ford in the big
leagues or Mike Ford bass fishing.I've never seen him bass fishing. If
you like fishing, awesome, butyou talk about like activities that I have

(01:54:24):
no interest in fishing. I believethe Kentucky State Bass Fishing Championships are today.
I saw like area high schools havebass fishing teams. Oh yeah,
this did not exist when I wasin high school. That in esports.
Uh, that didn't exist when Iwas in high school either. I've been
fishing once in my life. Actuallythat's not true. I went deep sea

(01:54:45):
fishing once and that was one ofthe coolest experiences that I've always heard that
and I didn't catch a thing.But I went like to a lake with
somebody fishing once and I'm like, cool, I'll go all right, great,
we'll pick you up at four thirtyin the morning to go We're going
fishing, right like ten minutes fromyour house. We're going fishing. Yeah.
So no, not my chat again. All right? What else should

(01:55:08):
we cover? The NFL schedules comingout a week from now, it is.
That's exciting. I'm looking forward tothat. I think schedule release night
is one of the coolest nights insports because there are no losers. It's
a big event. Even like thedraft, people get upset. Does anybody
get mad on schedule release night?Lance did one year? Oh really,

(01:55:29):
because he was mad the NFL's outto get the Bengals. Like, okay,
Pal, you're trying. I getit. No, nobody's out to
get the Bengals. No, it'sit's uh, it's sort of like the
last piece of the puzzle r ofthe off season, right. Yeah,
that's what I said to Tony earlier. It's like the last thing to look
forward to before training came, right. And and so you know, if
you're the type of fan that likesto make a road trip or go see
the team on the road, oryou know, you've got to arrange childcare

(01:55:50):
to go to games or that sortof thing, or you're just looking at
a handful of games that you maywant to go to. Whatever it is,
you can start to do that,it feels like it gets later and
later. I'm intrigued as to whetheror not the Bengals are going to be
one of the teams playing on Christmas. I'm intrigued as to whether or not
the Bengals are going to be oneof the teams playing on Christmas at home,
And I'm intrigued about what reaction I'llget when I inform my seven year

(01:56:13):
old daughter, Hey, Christmas morning, I'm gonna go a football game.
That'd be fun. Boomeras Eisen saidon his radio show this morning that he
thinks the NFL and Netflix will teamup for Christmas Day games. What do
you make of that? Okay, does is it like a Wednesday? This
year? It's a Wednesday, whichis causing the complication because the teams that

(01:56:35):
play on Christmas also now have toplay the previous Saturday. The NFL streams
games on Amazon, They've got agame on Peacock, which is part of
their NBC deal. Are they goingto create another another package for Netflix.
What did you make of Joe Burrowsaying they could have an NBA style All

(01:56:56):
Star break bye week thing if theyadd an appreciate him thinking outside the box.
I don't think the league wants that. Now. What I think would
be interesting is because we have theexpanded college football Playoff. If the NFL,
in conjunction with that said, allright, what we're going to do
is take a week off to giveour players the extra bye week and get

(01:57:18):
them ready to go for the stretchdrive, and then the college football Playoff.
Let's say the quarterfinal games could bespread out across the course of an
entire weekend. Now, the NFLhas no real interest in college football,
and the College Football Playoff might haveno real vested interest in the NFL.
But we've had in the past,Like the NBA never plays a game on

(01:57:40):
the night of the college basketball nationaltitle game. The NFL famously so used
to never play Sunday night football thenight of Game two of the World Series.
So there have been things done beforeto accommodate other leagues or other sports
entities. I don't know that anyreal NFL fan wants the league as an
entirety to go away for a week. But if you could fill the void

(01:58:04):
with it's not going to be eightbecause we have first round bys, but
what six college football playoff quarterfinal gamesand that's with the field at twelve.
Could there be something done then wherethe NFL gets its week off, players
get their week off, everybody getsa week of rest right before the most
important games, and the void getsfilled by the college football playoff. I

(01:58:26):
could see that being something that Iwould be interested in, and that would
be at least somewhat plausible. Yeah, I agree. Let's check out Locks
of the Night had degenerates. It'stime for Locks of the Night presented by
since He Shirts. Visit either storein Hyde Park or on Dixie Highway in
Fort Mitchell and always online at sincehe shirts dot Com. Now let's make

(01:58:46):
you some money. Mike forda RedKnicks in action tonight MO victor Winbinyana Yama
was robbed from the Defensive Player ofthe Year award. Rudy Gobert. Yep,
what do you got tonight? SoKnicks Pacers? I think the winner
of tonight's game wins the series. Now that seems rather obvious, like if

(01:59:09):
New York wins their up to tooh right, obvious. Obviously things would
slide dramatically in their favor if MitchellRobinson's now out for the rest of the
postseason. Indiana got this series playedat their pace in Game one. They
have more players now Halliburton's not onehundred percent. I'd find the series price
on the Pacers right now. Ithink there's value there. I say that

(01:59:31):
as a Knicks fan. Game twofrom that standpoint is a bit of a
stay away. I do like MilesTurner over seventeen and a half points.
This scares me. Without without MitchellRobinson, you can only you can only
do so much to a team beforeit just the they're playing five and a
half guys and they're asking one guyto do so much. At some point,

(01:59:54):
Jalen Brunson's going to not score fortypoints. If you think tonight is
going to be that night, takethe four and a half points. I
think there's value there. I've hadthree people since you and I talked about
this earlier today that have told methe Nicks are going to win, and
so I'm now I'm questioning myself. But I'd buy Indiana at the series price.
And if you're gonna do that,go ahead and buy the win game

(02:00:14):
two, because if you think they'regonna win the series, do you think
