You felt it today, didn't you, Austin, when you left

(00:49):
the house.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
That day to be a little day.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
I can tell you that that little chill in the air,
football weather. Looking ahead to next week where the temperatures
will dip down into the sixties a little bit as
a high. There's just a lot of things to look
forward to. And the best part about this is, you know,
from now until next Friday, I don't see an inkling
of rain on the radar. Sunny skies for the foreseeable futures.

(01:11):
What could happen Sonny sky for the foreseeable future. Thank
you for listening to ESPN fifteen thirty. It's a Cincinnati
sports station. Russell Home of the Bengals are via the
iHeartRadio app. You can use the app to leave us
a talkback, which we'll get to in the second segment
of our number two. Speaking of our number two today,
Zach Taylor his Wednesday weekly press conference will carry that

(01:33):
at one o'clock and in that press conference ideally get
some updates on some moves that were made today. Miles Murphy,
McKinley Jackson both cleared and the returning off the ir
Now there's a window, what is it, a twenty five
day window, twenty one day window that opens up where
they do not count against the fifty three man roster.

(01:54):
How quick they're able to get back into form is
yet to be seen, but help is officially on the
way in the form of defensive line help. With Miles
Murphy and McKinley Jackson, Zach Taylor will discuss that. We'll
talk more about Zach Taylor today we have to dive
into the Bengals today, and as we do on Wednesdays,
we'll start to shift our focus from the Carolina game

(02:16):
to the Baltimore Ravens game this week. Some statistics of
how good the Ravens have been and how how maybe
the Bengals can find a way to get a win
this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. There's also some audio
of Paul Dayner Junior who joined Moeger yesterday on Jordan Battle,

(02:40):
and some reps in that secondary. We'll get to all
of that as it relates to the Cincinnati Bengals. I
already said we'll have talkbacks. Mowggor will join us quare
Kits and logs the night and at two o'clock from
Local twelve covering sports right here in Cincinnati. Richard Skinner, Skinny,
we'll join us at two pm today. Outside of that,
your phone calls five, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty

(03:02):
phone lines are open to you to be a part
of today's show. This this is a special day, Austin.
Have you seen the statistic as it relates to today
in the game of football. No, today is the last
day without football for fifty five straight days. Man, how

(03:24):
about that? That's exciting, you know, because next Tuesday you
start to get in some Tuesday and Wednesday college football action.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
I'm assuming there's Friday college football as well.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Friday college football, Saturday college football, Thursday, NFL football, Sunday football,
Monday night football, Tuesday, Wednesday. It's just unbelievable for the
next fifty five days. So what we're saying is all
you need to do is get through today. I bet
playing in the middle of the week is miserable. As

(03:57):
a football player out of Mexico. Got to be awful,
I bet that is. And there's just there's never any
like it's never sold out, there's never a ton of
fans in the stands, you got it. I just can't
imagine what it does like from a practice schedule standpoint.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
It might help you with class, sure, it might be
easier to get your stuff done.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Sure, but it's.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Probably practicing on Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, but then you're
you're lugging yourself around a class and you're exhausted and
you're sore and you're tired. I'm not a huge fan
of it. I don't think it's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Now if you're wondering, okay, well, then what what can
we do?

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Do?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
You watch a lot of midweek maction? Watch football the time,
I don't ever feel like I do. Action is always
good for something crazy to come up.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Yeah, but we're also in October now, which means playoff baseball,
and we got a taste of that yesterday and we'll
get another taste today. Four games yesterday for today. Yesterday
the Detroit Tigers winners over the Astros three to one.
How about the game in Baltimore, Kansas City wins one
nothing that on a Bobby wit Junior a. The Mets

(05:03):
go down early to the Brewers, and then behind Jesse
Winker gets the Mets on the board early with a
two run triple. Mets beat the Brewers eight to four.
And then the San Diego Padres, the red hot San
Diego Padres knock off the Atlanta Braves yesterday as well.

(05:23):
So those four games happened, and it was a bottom
of the first home run from Fernando Tatis that got
things going for the Padres.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
But those no go ahead sorry.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Well, those four games today mean that those four teams
will play again today and it is a best of
three series. So those teams that lost will need to
win today to force a game three. From a playoff.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Standpoint, yeah, three road teams win yesterday. How about the
Milwaukee Brewers. They have lost ten of their last eleven
postseason games, which is kind of creaty to consider considering
that team is almost always in the playoffs, it feels like,
but they never seem to get past that opening round.
Do you think three games is enough in the opening

(06:11):
round in the wild card round?

Speaker 7 (06:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I do, okay, because it it feels like your season
can be over so quickly. Yeah, I like that better
than the one game playoff. Yeah, I do too, But
it almost feels like five would be the sweet spot.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
But I guess not.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
It does put an emphasis on that that three game set,
and I understand that. The argument too is you play
the one hundred and sixty two games slate. Yeah yeah, yeah,
and you come up short.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
But also, just to me, puts crazy emphasis on being
able to get a top two seed. Yep, because like,
how do you think the Brewers are feeling right now?
How do you think the Astros are feeling right now?
We're at home and we have to win the next
two yep.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
But at the same time take care of business during
the regular season.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
All right, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Let's look at everything else that was happening yesterday and
review the top sports stories. That's brought to you by
Class Roofing System of Cincinnati. They are the trusted local
roofing and gutter company. So visit krssincy dot com. That's
KRS since he with a y dot com. A lot
going on outside of just the MLB playoffs, and again
those get back in action today while we're on air.

(07:15):
Will be the first pitch two thirty two, says Austin
Tigers Astros. Again, they'll go in the same order of
play as they did yesterday, and then, of course, if necessary,
tomorrow those four teams would play again impossible Game three
and deciding games.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
So the Fernando Tattis Junior home run yesterday in San Diego,
that was awesome. Like that team right is so fun
to watch right now? That ballpark is crazy, especially like
it's like that during the regular season man postseason. It's
just like I get so jealous this time of year. Yep,

(07:55):
I get so jealous. Be nice anytime to feel something
like that. And also ton the first Domino of the
Reds offseason to fall Fall. Have you heard about what's
going on with the Reds and their TV partner? No, Well,
this is actually across all of Major League Baseball. So
if you remember Diamond Sports Group, they're the people that
own Bally Sports. There's a subsidiary of Bally Sports. They

(08:20):
announced today in their bankruptcy hearing, which they filed a
while back, that they are ending all of their broadcasts
of every major league team except the Atlanta Braves. So
Bally Sports will not broadcast any other major League teams
besides the Atlanta Braves. Major League Baseball said that this

(08:43):
was the first time they've heard of this and that
they were quote sandbagged by it, according to Evan Drelich
of The Athletic So, we don't know who is going
to be putting the Reds on TV next year. Could
go to like the in house options that a lot
of the other teams, including the Padres, have done, which
is you basically put the games on MLB TV and
you pay for them. Yeah, or they could you know,

(09:06):
put him off to somebody else, could try to come
in and make the deal. I don't know, but you
gotta imagine with this team and their track record, people
lining up. I'm sure, but that is the first domino
to fall. We'll see what happens when they figure out
who's going to be watching their or broadcasting their games
on TV. Just makes me thankful for radio correct around

(09:29):
the NFL, because us here at iHeartMedia will have all
one and sixty two plus playoffs next year.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Plus the playoffs. You hear that, plus the playoffs right
opening day coverage, Austin's birthday party. Yeah, everything. You don't
get that on TV. Nope. Von Miller is he still relevant?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
I guess.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
I mean they interviewed him before the Monday night game
the other day and I was confused.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Yeah, like why I don't really notice him when he's playing. Yeah,
and now you're not going to know him for the
next four weeks. He's been suspended four games for violating
policy in the National Football League.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
How is Von Miller suspended and Rashi Rice isn't great question?
It's a great question. Also, I'd have no problem with
Vaughn being suspended, but sure Rae Rice should also be suspended.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Also, Dan Campbell made things right and gave Jared Golf
a game.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Ball shout out to Dan Campbell.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
All right, shout out to Dan Campbell. Odell Beckham is
practicing with the Dolphins for the first time. That's a
big deal, Odel, Not really. And the Jets and the
Saints two teams right now high on the list of
who Davante Adams.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
You want to talk about an irrelevant individual? Odell Beckham Junior.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Yeah, Now, Davante Adams is not irrelevant. No, he's a beast,
but since going to the Raiders, he kind of has
been irrelevant. Still good statistically, but not the peak that
you saw him in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers. So
now there's this conversation that the Raiders are interested in
a trade. They're willing to listen to offers. The Jets

(11:02):
the Saints are both high on Davante Adams wish list.
There is one team that no one around wants to
see Davante Adams land with, and that's the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I would be surprised if if that was the case,
would you though, because it's the Chiefs and it's what
they've done. Yeah, I would be surprised if the Raiders
do that. I don't think they would, especially if you remember,
the Raiders GM now used to be the GM of
the Chargers, so he's very familiar with this division. I

(11:30):
don't think he would do that. Do you know how
we all got here?

Speaker 8 (11:35):
Like?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Do you know like the story behind this? That kind
of put Adams over the edge. He just wasn't happy.

Speaker 9 (11:40):
No.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Apparently there was an Instagram post it said something about
this could be DeVante Adams may have pay played his
last down for the Las Vegas Raiders, and that Instagram
post was liked by Antonio Pierce. Oh, the head coach
of the Law Vegas Raiders come and so nobody says

(12:03):
this is talked about in social media and on sports
talk radio and stuff like that, and nobody from the
Raiders says anything to Devonte Adams, including Antonio Pierce. So
when Adam's availability comes around, he obviously is asked about it,
and he says, nobody has said a word to me.

(12:25):
Nobody from the Raiders has said a word to me
about this. That is completely, completely a failure by their
PR people, by their public relations people, by anybody in
that organization to not get out in front of this
and cater to one of your best players and talk
to him about something that you know is going to happen.

Speaker 8 (12:45):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
And now with all the other stuff he's had to
deal with since he's been there, I guess they said,
all right, listen, we're open to being traded.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Yeah. That is ah. That is a huge miss by
the Raiders and by Antonio Piers as well. FC Cincinnati's
back in action tonight against New York City FCFC Cincinnati
now third in the Eastern Conference standings after that loss
over the weekend to la FC so FC trying to
right the ship and get some positive momentum. Even though

(13:15):
they're third in the Eastern Conference standings, it feels like
they're trending in the wrong direction.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
FC Cincinnati will be right here on ESPN fifteen thirty
this afternoon or this evening airtimes seven pm. It'll be
Tommy g and Ray Gaddis on a call for the
Orange and Blue. Okay, speaking of the Orange and Blue,
Miles Robinson was called up to the United States men's
national team. This is not going to cause him to

(13:39):
miss any time with the Orange and Blue, thankfully, but
it is a big deal for Miles because it is
the first camp with the new coach of the United
States men's national team. So for him to get a
call during that obviously says about how how highly thought
of he is by the new staff for US Soccer.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
There was something happened last night as well at Fifth
Third Arena. It was the Cincinnati basketball tip off event,
and I didn't go to it, but I watched some
videos from it. Wes Miller brought Roy Williams in the house. Yes,
and by all accounts, it was an amazing night. I
looked at some photos. The crowd was amazing. It got
me thinking the buzz in the anticipation. I mean, Austin,

(14:22):
we are. October eighteenth is the exhibition game against Ohio State.
We're that close to the start of college basketball. And
you know, I talked about this a little bit when
we went to dinner over the weekend in Texas in Lubbock.
Because I'm watching We're talking about football, and we're talking

(14:43):
about basketball and how long I've been a fan and
this and that, and the conversation came up about this
year's UC team. I said, I don't remember a year
that I've been this excited going into a season like
it feels like it's one of the best Skinsedules they've
ever had from a toughness standpoint in the team, so
that they're going to play. But here we are close.

(15:04):
The tip off event was exciting. There's a buzz around that.
There's also a buzz around Xavier, who released just an
hour ago Austin. They're full, full schedule for this upcoming season.
They have non conference games against Texas, Southern indianap IU, Indianapolis,
not Indiana, Jackson State, Wake Forest, Siena, South Carolina, Michigan
or Virginia Tech, South Carolina State, TCU, Morgan State, and

(15:27):
Cincinnati before entering Big East play. So there's a buzz
around the Muskies. There's a buzz around the Cincinnati Bearcats
and basketball very very close to getting back to starting.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
So January twenty fifth is a Saturday in Much the
Muskies host Connecticut at the Centas Center. Will Dan Hurley
stick around oh for the AFC Championship game the following Sunday?
You gotta think, so, you gotta think. So, let's take
all the maybe Bengals Ravens AFC Championship game.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Let's take our first break of the show.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
How about all the tar Heels in attendance last night
at the Tips star Studed. You had Marty Brenneman, Star Studed,
Roy Williams, Wes Miller. That's a good school to be
aligned with. Good colors too. Future Final four matchup, question
Mark Bearcats Tar Heels. Yeah, deal, let's break, Let's come back.
We'll get to some phone calls as we go. Five, one, three, seven, fifty.

(16:30):
Wait on the other side, let's shift our focus out
of segment one here, Let's shift our focus to the
Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
And as we do, so, what a segment to start.
We'll move that focus to the Baltimore Ravens. We'll tell
you more about the Ravens when we get back on

Speaker 4 (17:57):
All right, welcome back. It's since e three to sixty
thanks to Skyline Chili and for Football in the NATI.
Let's talk about the opponent for the Cincinnati Bengals coming
into Cincinnati this weekend, and it is the Baltimore Ravens.
We talked a little bit about this pre show today Austin,
But this is a Ravens team coming in. If you
remember a couple of weeks ago, we are sitting on

(18:19):
this show and we're saying, and the Ravens lose the
Kansas City Week one, and then they blow the big
lead against the Raiders. And at the time, Baltimore was
sitting there at oh and two with a trip to
Dallas and then hosting the undefeated Buffalo Bills at home,
and the thought was, could Baltimore come in oh to four?
Could the Bengals lay an early knockout punch on the

(18:43):
Baltimore Ravens in Week five of the NFL season? And
since then that question has been debunked, And it was
debunked because the Ravens figured out who they were, you know,
the uh, the backs against the wall mentality. When they
were down oh and two where they were owed to,
they they got back to what they do and against

(19:05):
the Dallas Cowboys, for the Baltimore Ravens, getting back to
what they do was very simple. It was running the
rock at ZH to two and a trip to the
Dallas to the Cowboys on the line. They ran the rock,
and they ran the rock for two hundred and seventy
four yards one hundred and fifty one of those coming
from Derrek Henry, another eighty seven from Lamar Jackson that

(19:26):
was over six yards of carry. Now, they did let
Dallas back in that game late, things did get a
little dicey, but nonetheless they went into Dallas and with
a strong running game, they dominated. And we talked a
lot Austin about the balance that the Bengals showed on
Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, they ran at thirty one

(19:46):
times and they threw at thirty one times. Against the
Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore ran it forty five times and they
threw at fifteen. Seventy five percent of their offense was
running the ball, and when they did throw at fifteen times,
Lamar Jackson completed twelve of those fifteen. Fast forward to

(20:07):
this past weekend again, Sunday Night Football, red hot three
and zero Buffalo Bills, who have looked the part every
step of the way. Eighteen pass attempts, thirty four rush attempts,
two hundred and seventy one yards eight yards of carry.

(20:27):
So in the most important stretch of the season already
for Baltimore, facing zero to three, they got back to
what they do best. They ran the ball seventy five
percent of the time against the Dallas Cowboys. They ran
the ball much more than fifty percent of the time
against the Buffalo Bills, a game that they won thirty
five to ten. Lamar Jackson again thirteen of eighteen with

(20:48):
two touchdowns. Derreck Henry ran it for a buck ninety nine.
Lamar added fifty four. They know now who they were.
Remember when they lost to Kansas City in Week one, Austin,
we were here on that Friday and we said, if
you got Derek Henry, the thought process is to feed
him early and then late in the game you wear
defenses down. And they didn't go to him in the

(21:10):
third and fourth quarter. Well they have figured that out
now and now they come into Cincinnati boasting the best
offense in football from a yards per game standpoint. The
Baltimore Ravens lead all of the NFL with four hundred
and twenty nine yards per game. That is sixteen yards
clear of the next closest San Francisco forty nine ers

(21:33):
at four thirteen. For what it's worth, the Bengals come
in at three hundred and thirty eight yards per game.
And that's not enough. They also boast the top rushing
attack in the game of football, and that also, Houstin
is not close. The Packers run it for one hundred
and seventy four yards a game. That's good for second
two twenty for the Baltimore Ravens. Like everyone is kind

(21:56):
of like bunched up, right, you'd like Commanders won sixty nine,
Eagles one fifty three, Lions one fifty one, and then
boom two hundred and twenty yards.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
It's not even close.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
From a statistical standpoint, they are the best team in
football right now running the ball. They are the best
team in football from an overall offensive yardage standpoint in
football as well. You can take it a step further
points per game. They rank fifth at twenty six and
a half, but that's only one point more than where

(22:29):
the Bengals rank at twenty five and a half percent.
The difference with this Ravens team is it's not a
top five, a top ten defense like it has been
in years past. Do you do you feel like Austin
that this Ravens defense they lose Mike McDonald has more
vulnerabilities than maybe Ravens.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Of the past. Yeah, maybe so especially through the air.
I think it's interesting how this game can we always
joke about throwing the records out the windows. There's a
lot neither one of these team teams knows about each other.
Like the Bengals have a new offensive coordinator, the Ravens
have new coordinators on both sides of the ball. They
have a bunch of new personnel on the offensive side

(23:09):
of the ball, and on the defensive side of the ball,
Mike McDonald obviously not being there anymore. The Bengals entire
identity is essentially changed on offense. Geno Stone now plays
for Cincinnati on their side and led the AFC in
interceptions last year. So, like we always talk about how
these games are tough, sloppy, low scoring games, I kind

(23:30):
of feel like this could be a shootout. Yeah, And
you know, mostly because the Bengals are struggling to stop
the run and I think Baltimore will have a lot
of chunk plays. But if the Bengals offense can keep
up like this could be a really really a lot
of fireworks in this game.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
I think that as well because of what you mentioned
and the way that that Baltimore is just not as
strong yet from what they're giving up in the air,
you know, I mean, this is a Ravens team right
now giving up two hundred and fifty seven yards per game.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
That's bottom four in football.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
So if you look at what the Bengals do really
well and you look at what the Ravens don't do
really well, then you start to think, okay, maybe there
is a path forward here for the Cincinnati Bengals, at
least on offense, to have some success against this Ravens team.
You know it's going to be a battle right now.

(24:28):
From a rushing standpoint, Austin, they're really good. They give
up fifty seven yards per game on the ground, but
some of that has contributed to a twenty eight nothing
you or a big lead they had against Dallas where
Dallas couldn't really turn to the running game. They were
big on the Buffalo Bills, so the Bills didn't run
the ball a ton. So while they are giving up

(24:49):
a lot of yardage in the air, they're also only
giving up under sixty yards rushing. So my question for you, then, Austin,
if you are Dan Pitcher and you go into a
g and you say, okay, statistically through four weeks, this
Ravens team has been really good against the run, they've
been weak against the pass. You also have to navigate

(25:11):
and juggle that running the ball helps your own defense,
which isn't very good. So do you continue to try
to run the ball or do you say, Okay, we
are going to say that this Ravens team is deficient
against the pass and we're gonna let Joe Burrow in
this game throw at fifty times or are you trying
to still push that balance to have it on offense,
but to also have it recognizing how bad this defense

(25:33):
is Like that to me, for Dan Pitcher and Zach Taylor,
that's the question. Do you attack them in a weakness
that they have and risk a couple in completions to
where it's a quick three and out of now your
defense is back out there. Or do you continue to
try to be balanced? Do you continue to try to
be that fifty to fifty split of run verse pass.

(25:54):
I think that's going to be fascinating. Yeah, and really
for the first time to see if the Bengals defici
and see on defense changes how they approach a game
like this.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Do you think it should?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
I think I don't know.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
If you've been this successful, and you have this new
identity with all these different multiple looks that you can
give a defense, and you're averaging among the best, the
most points in per game in the NFL, and that's
including one stinker in Week one where you scored ten.
Should you change based on your defense as in ability

(26:29):
or should you just keep going and keep scoring as
much as you can.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
I'm going to try in the first two or three
drives to see if I can be as balanced as
they were last week.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Can you afford to do that, though, knowing how bad
your defense is.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Well, that's why I think taking the ball would be
sure a better you know, a better deal here, because
you know, if you come out for a series or
two and you can't get much going on the ground,
you're not going to have the time to try to
get it going as the game goes on. Then you
become more one dimensional. But because Chase Brown and Zach
Moss have been so good and the old line has
been so good, I don't want to go into a

(27:04):
game and say, well, just because tatistically they're good against
the run, we're not gonna try. I think you have
to try. But I also think you have to be
very quick with that. You know, one a one B
game plan of Okay, we tried, but let's go with
this team is bad at and that's passing the ball. Yeah,
I think that's gonna be an interesting back and forth
on Sunday. I just any way that I slice this

(27:26):
and we'll talk about how do you beat the raven
But anyway that this is sliced, I don't see how
they stop the Ravens on defense. Yes, that's my biggest
concern because you don't have the opportunity right now. Like
defense sometimes is complimentary. If you've got a couple shutdown corners,
but you struggle against the run, what do you do?
You just load the box. They haven't been good in

(27:46):
the secondary, so the second you load the box, you
run the risk of missing a gap and Lamar Jackson
gashing you, or Lamar Jackson gashing you in the passing game.
And if you're just gonna rush for you know, we've
said for years Austin when he was with the Titans,
how you beat Derrick Henry as you win the front

(28:08):
four because you don't let him get a full head
of steam. If you're getting beat up front and he's
got speed, to the linebackers, good luck, good luck trying
to tackle him. I just I can't find the scenario
now where the Bengals slow the Ravens down enough offensively
and that puts an immense amount of pressure on the
offense for the Bengals. Yeah, let's take a break, let's

(28:31):
come back. We'll take a couple of phone calls five, one, three, seven,
four nine, fifteen thirty. We'll talk more about the snap
count for the Cincinnati Bengals as well, a little conversation
that Paul Danner Junior had with Moegor yesterday on Jordan
Battle and much more on sincey three to sixty on
the Home of the Bengals Cincinnati is ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station, in a service of Skyline Chile.

Speaker 10 (28:50):
You've been listening to football in thenetti on the official
home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty. The Bengals
wrestle the Ravens. Coverage starts Sunday morning at nine on
ESPN fifteen thirty, the official home of the Bengals.

Speaker 11 (29:09):
Her time of the payoff pitch swinging a lighter down
the right field line at the base hit and.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
It may well tie the game.

Speaker 12 (29:14):
Biento's around third, he scores, Mike Starbaugh.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
Gives the green light to Alonzo as the ball got
dug out of the corner.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
The relay throw is bubbled and the.

Speaker 13 (29:23):
Massive tied the game as Jesse Winker slides into third man.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
How about that former Reds getting it done. What I
liked most about that Jesse Winker triple. And I don't
know what these two have going on, but Willie Domas
and Winker were drawing back and forth. But as Winker
was running the bases, he was trash talking to Domas. Yeah,
like the end, They're like, I'll see in the parking

(29:50):
lot after the game. I mean, it was intense stuff.
It's playoff baseball, baby, And that that from Jesse Winker
makes him our power player of yesterday's game. SEO, we
got to do here now, Austin because the Reds let
us down and didn't make the playoffs, is we've got
to find former Reds to give out the power player
of yesterday's game too. That's why Jesse Winker is our

(30:11):
power Player of yesterday's game. That is, of course, brought
to you by Cincinnati Tax Resolution, powered by our good
friend toaf Sheldon, don't live in fear tof is here.
Let's grab a quick phone call and then I want
to move on to some more Cincinnati Bengals as well.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
What's happening Mark.

Speaker 14 (30:29):
Oh Man?

Speaker 15 (30:31):
You know the Pee Rose story that kind of threw
me off yesterday on the question that I wanted to
call in and ask. But I'll be real quick. I
got a prediction for the game. I think Ravens thirty one,
Bengals twenty eight. Justin Tucker make a field go at
the end of the game, the Ravens will get the
ball last, and then they'll make a couple of Keith

(30:54):
third downs. Converter couple of Keith third downs because I
I just think up they'll run the ball a little
bit better, they'll commit to it more, and then when
then they have to pass it, I think they'll convert
when they need to. I just don't think the Bengals
defense can really stop nobody when they really have to.

(31:15):
They need to offer the formula after watching the Carolina game,
the formula to them winning the game. The offense gotta
gotta help stop and stop themselves, like they gotta get
off schedule with a penalty drop a couple of passes.
You know, Carolina receivers dropped a couple of.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Passes, a couple receivers third downs.

Speaker 15 (31:36):
Yeah, yeah, you know, something like that has to happen,
you know, if the offense is executing. I just don't
think the Bingles defense can stop. No can can stop
for good offense. I wanted to make a comment about
that U see game Saturday. You know, you might be
done talking about it, but when I watched that game,

(31:58):
that last series with the quarterback's lead and two guys
hit them, I'm still trying to figure out how that's
not a personal foul unnecessary roughness penalty, you and me both,
I didn't get that. I think you see got screwed
on that last drive with them ten second runoffs, and
that should have been a extra fifteen yard penalty. So

(32:22):
you know, that was my comment and I'll get off,
you know, listen to the rest of the show.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Appreciate that, mark, Thank you. I do agree. I think
there were times Carolina did stop themselves, so you know
that's a key part of that as well. But we've
talked about the Bearcat play. I've watched it. I still
don't know how it whether it's targeting or unnecessary roughness.
I don't understand how that becomes a ten second runoff.

(32:49):
But you can't go back now, you got to go
forward if you are the Cincinnati Bearcats real quick. I
want to get to this audio McKinley Jackson, and we'll
hear about this from Zachlor Austin. I believe he only
had like three practices before he got hurt, right.

Speaker 5 (33:04):
Something along those lines, So you.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Would expect it's probably gonna take him a little bit
longer to round into shape. I just don't know how.
I don't I wouldn't expect him to be back out
there this week.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Well, I don't know that. I would say that there's
a chance just because they need bodies. Yeah, I don't
know that he's going to play, you know, fifteen twenty snaps,
but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he's activated.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Let me ask you one other question before we get
to this. Paul Danner Junior audio with MO what would
you feel if this was someone from the Bengals. I
don't know if you've seen this or not, but times
in Philly are rough right now. I mean, there was
a lot of panic around the Philadelphia Eagles, and after
their most recent loss to Tampa Bay, Darius Slay went

(33:48):
on Micah Parsons podcast, Oh My Gosh and laughing it up,
talking a little bit about CJ. Garner Johnson giving up
a touchdown. As a fan, would you have a problem
seeing Jamar Chase on a Baltimore Ravens players podcast during
the season.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
No, I don't care about that. I care about the content.
Are we making fun of one of my teammates?

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Right?

Speaker 3 (34:15):
If you're making fun of you're one of your teammates,
which he's kind of laughing at CJ. Garner Johnson or
not necessarily taking the situation serious, then I have a
problem with that. I don't care if he goes on
a podcast.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Yeah, like if it's after a win, but it's the
context after a game they were just dominated by Tampa.
Here's one of your better players laughing it up with
one of your rivals and talking about a player on
your team getting beat. I don't think that would go
over very well. But it's a New World, New Technology podcast.

(34:46):
Are the big things?

Speaker 16 (34:47):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
Baltimore Ravens are going to run the ball. They're going
to continue to run the ball for four quarters against
the Cincinnati Bengals, and last year, according to Pro Football Focus,
Austin Jordan Battle was the twelfth best safety in football
against the run, graded out very well as a as
a safety against the run, and quite frankly, what they've

(35:10):
done at safety this year, albeit I know Von Beld
just had an interception. Gino Stone hasn't been great, the
angles haven't been great, Von Bell hasn't been great. So
the question continues to be Okay, we saw DJ Turner
get the reps when Cam Taylor Britt struggled win.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
When is Jordan Battle gonna get the reps?

Speaker 4 (35:28):
And Moe talked with Paul Dayner Junior yesterday about this,
and we have a little audio from that.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
Heard time of the payoff picks swinging out.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Nope, that's not it. That is a line down right
here we go.

Speaker 12 (35:41):
How much closer is Jordan Battle to seeing significant playing time?

Speaker 5 (35:46):
I don't think that closed.

Speaker 13 (35:47):
I mean, judging by you know what we'd heard in
the weeks leading up to this, and then lose response
to that, to the question about it yesterday, I just
not the most ringing.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Endorsement yesterday, No, and out that he was slow to
start for whatever reason. Yeah, okay, so not getting into it.

Speaker 17 (36:06):
But he can't slow to start the angles Geno Stone,
that's fair the guy that I was most excited about them.
So yeah, yeah, you know it's it's not just slow
to start, is slow to finish and slow to tackle
and so you yeah, the Geno So the Geno Stone thing,
the one worry of coming from.

Speaker 13 (36:27):
Coming over was gonna be Okay, well, you're giving up
a little bit as a tackler, but you're not going
Nick Scott, right, You're where you feel like you're getting
the payoff and coverage and anticipation in creating turnovers that
you thought you were in. Now we haven't seen that
as much. We have seen the mistackles in the bad angle.

(36:47):
I mean that covered angle is one of the worst
you'll see a safety take. Yeah, that's the stuff that
just kills you. And that was supposed to be with you.
That's not speed, I mean speed, but that's understanding where
you're going. And you know that's the one thing you're
supposed to have, is knowing where to go and knowing

(37:08):
the anglesy by going with the veteran no ball safeties,
that's supposed to be what the one thing you're supposed
to be able to count on, so that that's obviously troubling.
I can I still believe that one there's reverberations from
last year that I think there was more error being

(37:31):
committed by Jordan Battle that we don't really know about
because of all the communication and actual like logistics of
how the defense operates that you wouldn't see if you're
grading or if you're just watching it. You see the
splash plays, right, and those the ones where you know
he's coming up, he's making the tackle, he's attacking, like

(37:53):
all of that stuff is worthwhile.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
But I just think there's still a lot of memories.

Speaker 13 (37:59):
Of last year in the back of Lou's head, not
wanting to go to that where guys don't know where
they're going and the communications not good enough, and so
for that reason, until something changes dramatically behind the scenes
with Jordan Battle taking more steps or progress or whatever
it was called yesterday, I mean, I think that they're

(38:20):
content for right now to stick with these guys.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
Well, I'm all right, so that is Paul Daner Junior
with Mowager. I just don't like the word at the end,
content content with staying who it is because right now
it's not been good enough. And I guess my only
question to that because there there obviously is something there.
Did they not have any year two jump from Jordan Battle?

Speaker 14 (38:43):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Because I could, I could certainly see, like, okay, in
the grading process, maybe you don't realize the calls that
were missed or where he had other guys in the
wrong spot, and you know that the splash plays were there,
but he was still graded out really high. So okay,
if there's other things that weren't there yet as a rookie,
is the concern now he just did not take the
step in year two. And if that's the case, if

(39:06):
you're a guy that graded out really well in year
one but can't get on the field for anything on
a very bad defense, especially a tackling defense right now,
well doesn't that speak volumes about Jordan Battle and and
how poorly he's seen right now in the locker room
that's concerning that that is worrisome to me for the

(39:26):
Cincinnati Bengals. How different is it really from a Jermaine
Burton that I mean, that's that's that would be my
question is that how bad it is right now? And
like that he came in year one and and graded
out really well, and then he went to the offseason
and he showed up in year two and there just
hasn't been anything.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
Well.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
I will take the PFF grade with the grain of
salt because they don't know what the you know, calls
are on a play by play basis. But the ability
to tackle and that defense stunk. Yeah, And I think
that point right there of like, if there's one thing
you know, he's good at, his ability to tackle, his
ability to you know, for the most part, put himself

(40:05):
in the right position. And coming off of a game
in which Cam Taylor Britt was brought to the sidelines, yes,
and essentially benched. And it's not like you're paying Geno
Stone an absurd amount of money that basically forces you
to play him. He signed like a seven million dollar deal. Sure,
Von Miller is a very very small deals or Von

(40:28):
Bell is playing on a very small deal as well.
So the financial thing doesn't make sense. And the way
that Lewis treated this and talked about how nobody has
room for poor play anymore, that tells me. And knowing
Paul and knowing that he is very well sourced when

(40:49):
it comes to this stuff. He wouldn't just say this
tells me that there's clearly an issue with Jordan Battle
and lou An Arumo that doesn't seem like it's close
to being resolved. I don't know how you could look
at this and say that there's not like the defense
is awful. He was good at tackling last year. This
team can't tackle right now, and he's not even getting

(41:10):
a series here and there.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
That to me is is speaking volumes. We've got plenty
more that we will get to on the Cincinnati Bengals.
We'll wrap up the first hour when we get back,
and then we will throw it down to pay Court
Stadium where Zach Taylor. Zach Taylor.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Will be speaking to members of the media. You've also
got some breaking news involving Davante Adams when we get back.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
More on that on the Home of the Bengals, ESPN

friends at Skyline, Chile.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
Hey, it's Mulegger.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
If you're This is Cinci Shirts since e three to
sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Cinci Shirts.
Cinci Shirts all since the all Day This is ESPN

Speaker 4 (42:00):
All right, let's do it. Our number two thanks to
our friends at Cincy's Shirts. By the way, the folks

(42:22):
We are appreciative of them for all that they do
for us. Without any further ado. On Wednesdays, on a
normal week, we get to hear from the head coach
of the Cincinnati Bengals. Starting now, our number two that
is now here is Zach Taylor speaking to the media.

Speaker 18 (42:37):
Ranks Murphy and mckillane.

Speaker 16 (42:39):
What do you what'd you like? Best practice? See where
it goes from there.

Speaker 12 (42:44):
I was already shot they could plays.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
To handle the North this year.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
Then I think our quarterback man back helps That goes
along the way for it, you know. And so again
this division has always been about turnover battles. Every time
you're in these games. It really is as simple as that,
and so a lot of times these aren't These aren't
major possession games, big possession games, so the turnover has
become critical. And you know, we we always expect to

(43:13):
get our best from our players that we know the opponent,
they know us. So exciting exciting week for us.

Speaker 13 (43:21):
Is there a style that you have to be able
to play or or is there you know, is that
just depending on the team and game plan to win
this division?

Speaker 4 (43:31):
You know what I mean, you do, but you do yep.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
I think that that's one thing you find out having
been in this division for for a good number of
years now that maybe I didn't quite understand as much
when I got here, and so that is a big
part of it. I think, you know, we we've seen
in the past other divisions that come play this division
to see that and then walk away from it. That's
something they feel and and uh again, our players are

(43:57):
battle tests, have been through this before, so they know
how physical and tends these games will be.

Speaker 3 (44:01):
When you say, because we hear that all of the time,
does that.

Speaker 16 (44:04):
Start the trenches? Yeah, I mean yeah, it's every it's
all eleven on both sides of the ball. It really does.
It ramps up.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
You know, just the style of play when when you
face these teams that there's been big investments up front
on both sides. There's also features great skill players you know,
all over the map too. Every every time you get
in his matchups, so you know, there's just a lot
of good football players walk on the field, you know
when when these divisional games occur.

Speaker 16 (44:32):
I was developed from Cole Hale.

Speaker 18 (44:35):
How he's tind of progress, made that defense even work
post Maybe.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
He was a tremendous player, you know, and does a
lot for them, So they clearly think highly of him
with the amount of responsibility they put on his plate.
And I say he answers the bill.

Speaker 16 (44:48):
Obviously that can coordinator on defense for them.

Speaker 11 (44:50):
How do you watch them the wall for four weeks
and obviously play play their best game against Yeah.

Speaker 16 (44:55):
They I mean they've got.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
They've played good football before Buffalo, but they've got a
lot of players returning, They've got some players they've started
to integrate into their defense. And so again you you
watch the tape, it's a lot of a lot of
the same guys doing a lot of the same things.
And then they've added a couple of pieces in there,
some young players some veterans, so you can tell. I mean,

(45:18):
the coordinator's been there obviously a number of years, so
he came up in that system. And so there's I'm
sure there's ways that they evolve, but a lot of
similarities that we've seen over the years as well.

Speaker 19 (45:29):
Often use the term explosive as how you want your
offensive identity to be here with the players that you
have on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 5 (45:37):
When you and Loup in the off season.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
Go through your your personnel and what you want your
plan to be for the upcoming season, what do you
feel like you guys really wanted this year's.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
Bangals defense to be.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
Well, we always want to be tough. We always been relentless.
You know, when you turn on a tape, it's relentless effort.
And so that that carries over to stopping the run,
pass rush, coverage down the field. I think that that
covers a lot of ground. When you're talking about the.

Speaker 7 (46:02):
Defense, how have you characterize see in terms of prioritize
what you want to see.

Speaker 20 (46:09):
In your defense?

Speaker 2 (46:10):
Well, it's certainly part of it, you know. And there's
a physicality, there's a speed. If you can find that
the biggest fastest human being put them out there, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 16 (46:19):
So there's a balance.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
I think we've We've got a fair amount of of
all the different things that I think fit into to
a good style of defense. And smart players as well.
You know that that factors in as well, you know,
being able to diagnose a play before it even happens
and put yourself and others in position to where maybe
you don't have to use the two extra steps of
speed to get yourself in that position because you've got
the awareness and the recognition to be able to play

(46:45):
a little bit calmer and a little bit faster with
with the.

Speaker 16 (46:48):
Speed of gap. How wouldj Sheldon doing coming along?

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Yeah, we'll see where the week goes. Again, I've said
DJ's a little bit further long than Sheldon, but encourage
So we'll see where the he goes with both.

Speaker 16 (47:01):
Of us guys.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Joe said, he expects me to be store after.

Speaker 21 (47:04):
Getting stepped on.

Speaker 16 (47:05):
Is he all day? He hasn't said anything to me
about it, but he may have a different answer for you.

Speaker 18 (47:11):
Gonna pull bowl players at ever leveled with their defense,
the defense excent you already now is the defense better?
It's a combination of both of me. They do such
a great job as I've drafted people that did them
so well.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
But I mean, when you've got great players, I believe
in what they're doing, you know, and they communicate really well,
you can see that. And so they've got time on task,
playing together, playing within the system, you know, relatively healthy group.
They've got a couple of guys you know, on the
injury list, but so again, the time on the task
when you got smart players and they got length, they

(47:44):
got speed, So it's it's a good group. You know,
they play really well together with the borough.

Speaker 12 (47:49):
The way he's playing does it feel pretty much just
like the way he's playing October November.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
I've got that same confidence, you know, and I think
he's got that confidence. The team's got that confidence in them,
and and that takes you way, Zach.

Speaker 5 (48:01):
It's never perfect, But what do you love about.

Speaker 13 (48:03):
What the offense is doing?

Speaker 8 (48:04):
Right now?

Speaker 16 (48:04):
What was the first part of that stink?

Speaker 5 (48:06):
It's never perfect. You're gonna watch fields law as always
as a coach.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
But but what do you love that what the offense
is doing.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
I think a lot of people are involved, you know,
so it's hard to key in on on one area
or one person, because we're willing to evolve every person
that walks on the field and you know, whether it's
run or pass and trying to incorporate things a lot
of different ways. We of course, are very hard on
ourselves when we look at the plays. You know, you
probably look back at maybe three plays in that game
that you left that that stunted drives that could have

(48:37):
led to more production there. So again there we have
a very high standard on both sides of our ball,
and uh, you know, there's there's still a next step
I think that we can take.

Speaker 20 (48:47):
I know you talk a lot about Eric all but
it feels like a guy like that from the Big
Ten kind of what he's made of is just made
for as North football.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
How how much better is you run team as your
attack whatever it is? With him back, they're helping.

Speaker 16 (48:59):
Want what he does well, he helps.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
I think that's the mentality of the tight end room
and Eric's a big part of that. I think when
when you have the ability to also expand in the
passing game, that helps a lot of things when you're
on the field. And so Eric brings a lot to
the table and is willing to continue. He is very
humble in his approach and willing to get better and
willing to take coaching, and you know, in a in

(49:22):
a lot of ways, is bright eyed like any Ricky
would be, and and does not walk around like I've
made it quite the opposite, to be frank with you,
it's it's you know, I got to do better and
there's more to do. And I think that's the right
approach for him.

Speaker 12 (49:35):
And look at how y'all have fron Amari so long.

Speaker 9 (49:37):
What's been the biggest recent Why he's getting on as.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
Well as he has solver.

Speaker 16 (49:43):
Three things?

Speaker 2 (49:44):
I think his own approach of again coming in and
being willing to be coached and being able to coach
himself and self correct in some areas. I think Frank
and Derek Fraser have done a great job with him
bringing him along. And I think the guys on that
offensive line, and when you look at the four other
pieces have been there together to help bring him along too,

(50:07):
you know, and so you know it it it it's
everybody involved, and Amarus is a big piece of that
because of his willingness to continue to be coached and
and I don't have all the answers help me, and uh,
but also have the confidence as well that he can
go out there and do it and block people and
be effective in the run of the past. And so
there's a confidence there, but also the humbleness of I

(50:29):
don't have all the answers and I want some help,
and those guys have all been will to helping.

Speaker 18 (50:33):
You talk about all you talked about him, it was
almost the same thing.

Speaker 16 (50:36):
Yeah, coachable, that's why they're playing a lot of times
for us.

Speaker 4 (50:40):
Yeah, and uh, how how how not amazing?

Speaker 15 (50:45):
But how big is it?

Speaker 18 (50:46):
Two young guys that are able to do that make
that transition of transitions so quickly. I guess you guys
had a pretty good amble on up.

Speaker 19 (50:53):
When you're drafting him.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
You think you do, you know, you don't really know
until they walk in the building and you get achieve
inst to being around them, and and so again it's
we got what we hoped we were getting from a
character standpoint and from an effort and football intelligence. They're
just two football players. That's the best way to describe
their football players. They like contact, they like practice, they

(51:17):
like being in the trenches with their teammates, and and
those are great qualities to have with our rookies, go ahead.

Speaker 16 (51:25):
How have you seen ryder crowd?

Speaker 2 (51:29):
He punts it far and high and and that's that's
what I see. So you know, Darren could probably give
you more profound answer there. He's come in and been
a great fit, confident since the day he walked in
the door, carries himself the right way with that confidence,
and you know, it's one of those things you didn't
You didn't sign him at the draft or raft of

(51:51):
the draft, so in a lot of ways, you're not
looking at them as a rookie because a lot of
times you're adding guys, you know, in their second or
third year at the stage we added him. So that's
kind of how I look at him. Sometimes I forget
that he's a rookie because he doesn't carry himself that way.
And so it's just again in the timing of when
we acquired him and how he presents himself make it
feel like he's much farther along in his career. And

(52:11):
obviously he's played very calmly and done an excellent job
for us.

Speaker 22 (52:16):
Some good punters, but he has a unique ability if
you're backed up to really the crush one.

Speaker 5 (52:22):
How significant is that to.

Speaker 16 (52:25):
The team it's a big deal.

Speaker 17 (52:26):
You know.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
You can think of playing Tennessee over the years and
and the guy down there can flip the field on you,
and you just feel that, like, man, we're just backed
up the whole game. And so to be able to
have that and have that as a weapon, and and
then your coverage team believes in it, you know, Okay,
now we got to do our job. We got to
get down there, and we have to make this play
because he's gonna he's gonna do his part. And so

(52:50):
and again, there's still a lot of experience that we
had there. There's some things he's gonna learn and has
to experience, and he hasn't seen all the situations yet
and so there's obviously a green that will come there.
But I think he's so far, so good, done an
excellent job, and done all the things we need him
to do.

Speaker 4 (53:06):
One more interesting, Cus Canters good, he's.

Speaker 16 (53:08):
Coming along as well. Yeah, okay, thank you.

Speaker 4 (53:16):
All right. So there is Zach Taylor speaking obviously to
members of the media with everything related to the Cincinnati Bengals.
I've thought some good updates on Trey Hendrickson. You know,
that day to day time frame is something positive to
to look forward to obviously with the player of that magnitude,
you know, on your defense. So good news there on
on the Trey Hendrickson front, I think you know when

(53:38):
it when it comes to eric All, who was talked
about a little bit there. There was also a Dan
Pitcher quote that I saw Dan Horde tweet and if
you're a football guy, you love this right It's uh.
Dan Pitcher was asked of eric Al's willingness to be
a violent blocker, and Dan Pitcher said this, I'll say this,

(54:00):
it goes beyond willing and turns into eager, an eagerness
to be violent. Wow, that's probably a better descriptive. That's
football guy right there.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
That's a football guy.

Speaker 23 (54:10):
And that is.

Speaker 3 (54:12):
Maegger's new favorite Bengal.

Speaker 16 (54:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (54:14):
I heard him talking about that yesterday.

Speaker 4 (54:16):
Eric Hall, I mean you call, that's what Zacht said.
Maury's mems and Eric call. They're football players. That's that's
probably the best true that a rookie can receive.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
That is true. They are football players.

Speaker 4 (54:28):
One of the best compliments of rookie can receive. We'll
take a call, We'll take a break. We'll get to
your talkbacks. Mike what's up.

Speaker 24 (54:38):
The show as usual?

Speaker 16 (54:40):
Thinking about you.

Speaker 24 (54:41):
Boys, it's always good, that's the plan.

Speaker 4 (54:44):
We appreciate that.

Speaker 24 (54:46):
Well, you're playing work to hell of a lot better
than tailors work that maybe any I should run that
football team.

Speaker 3 (54:55):
Man, that's a whole different animal.

Speaker 24 (55:00):
Like that game Sunday for us.

Speaker 16 (55:02):
I don't like it.

Speaker 15 (55:03):
I just don't like it.

Speaker 24 (55:04):
And I've been trying to find some I don't know,
like you can pass them to death, you're in trouble.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
I mean, I don't know. That to me has been
my biggest concern. You know, normally you go into games
and I talked about this a little bit earlier, but
normally you go into games and it's like, Okay, here's
the path, like this is what can happen. Here's the
path to go out and beat this team and bring
home a win. I just find that extremely hard to
find because of what this Ravens team does really well

(55:35):
and what the Bengals team struggles with at this point
like that, to me, it's just one team strength versus
a glaring weakness to the other team, and normally those
things don't go well for a team. I mean, that's
the biggest concern.

Speaker 8 (55:51):
Yeah, and Austin.

Speaker 24 (55:52):
I remember you the other day after Tonney went to
do the other show. You were expressing your concer of
you want the Bengals to win, of course or writing form,
but I think you expressed an opinion of be dis
worried that it's just not something there that needs to
be there. Is that kind of accurate with what you said?

Speaker 3 (56:14):
Yeah, it's just like the feeling after they won. Wasn't
this jubilation and this excitement that you feel about the
future moving forward? It was like, man, this defense is
not good enough to sustain this. It's just more of
a worry about the future than the excitement.

Speaker 5 (56:29):
Of the present.

Speaker 4 (56:30):
And I think with that, with that sentiment, they're also
It's like if it was just a you know, a
one or two game stretch, you're like, all right, well
they won ugly, you have bad games. It's now been
four games are the same and that makes it very concerning.

Speaker 8 (56:44):
It. Do you know?

Speaker 25 (56:46):
I got a chance at Como yesterday and I hit
him with the question of his thoughts on Peape, his
opinions on Peape before his passing and after is passing it.

Speaker 24 (56:58):
I had another question but no one on in one
of his deals man, and it was excellent.

Speaker 26 (57:04):
He developed his opinion with backgrounds history very specifically, and
then stated that that he just couldn't get you know
that it's supposed to be a joyous event, and there's
no way this is even if he's in.

Speaker 24 (57:20):
Postal unitually it's not going to be a joyous event.

Speaker 27 (57:22):
Anyway.

Speaker 24 (57:23):
I'm not given his just due to the way he
had described it. But if anybody can replay that at home,
you'll be well advised to do so.

Speaker 26 (57:32):
And want to put you on the baseball you know,
last year when the Padres traded Soto or this past year,
I said, oh, man, but he really to do much
for the Padres last year.

Speaker 8 (57:42):
But the key was they picked up.

Speaker 24 (57:44):
That picture from the Yankees, that King kid.

Speaker 26 (57:47):
Yep, and that was an equal performance to schoobl I
mean it was the real last night.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
To Yeah, they the Padres are dangerous with their offense,
but their their staff, especially when you get into that bullpen,
as really good as well.

Speaker 26 (58:00):
Well yeah, it just what three great games last night
and the Mets are starting to look like the Diamondbacks
so last year.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
Yep, just start playing at the right time.

Speaker 15 (58:09):
Yep.

Speaker 26 (58:09):
Thanks guys, have a good one.

Speaker 28 (58:11):
Man.

Speaker 4 (58:12):
Thank you all right, you're talk though. Thank you next,
Cincy three sixty. Thank you to our friends at Cincy Shirts.
You're listening right here on the Home of the Bengals,
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 10 (58:24):
Now your chance to win it out the Bengals Wrestle
with the Ravens. Coverage starts Sunday morning at nine on
ESPN fifteen thirty, the official home of the Bengals.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
Cincy three sixty carries on on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (58:47):
To talk bos. Tony, We've got some breaking news for

(59:13):
the Cincinnati Bengals. You just heard from Zach Taylor, the
head coach. Well, Charlie Goldsmith is reporting that Bengals defensive
tackle BJ Hill is in uniforms for practice. Okay, BJ
Hill is in uniform for practice. Well, monitor those developments
as the afternoon goes on. Things are happening, Things are developing.

Speaker 11 (59:39):
Deshaun Watson, your Mom and I and Jabbo.

Speaker 29 (59:45):
Joe Danoman is in the shower.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
He's listening to the show. Tony Bike is the fan who.

Speaker 20 (59:54):
Cannot be be He's like Sam the Butcher bringing Alice
the me.

Speaker 19 (59:59):
Wow.

Speaker 27 (01:00:00):
When we see Tony walking.

Speaker 11 (01:00:01):
Down our busy street.

Speaker 14 (01:00:03):
We should Scanter Rose battles at his feet?

Speaker 5 (01:00:06):
Is that true?

Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
Unbelievable? I wouldn't mind it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:08):
I was today.

Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
You're take that Dan.

Speaker 10 (01:00:10):
Mat At the boss was the Fans town sheriff.

Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
I honestly didn't recognize him at all.

Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
I feel like an idiots who what?

Speaker 26 (01:00:19):
Huh?

Speaker 28 (01:00:20):
What?

Speaker 20 (01:00:21):
I know everybody's worried about Derrick Henry just running all
over our defense. Yes, but I'm listen, the Bengals defense
just has to be mediocre enough to get one or
two stops, maybe an interception, if you.

Speaker 16 (01:00:34):
Know, if you're lucky.

Speaker 20 (01:00:35):
But you get Burrow in that offense, the way they're playing,
you give him a window to get ahead in points.

Speaker 14 (01:00:41):
It's a rat.

Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Bengel's gonna get that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:44):
W Okay, let's go.

Speaker 15 (01:00:47):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
But also, you cannot ask the offense to be perfect
every week. Why well do you ask the defense be
perfect every week? Absolutely?

Speaker 30 (01:00:55):
Not.

Speaker 28 (01:00:55):
No. So the one team that I'm terrified about getting
Devanta Adams is obviously the Chiefs. But what do you
guys think the odds are that the Raiders would ever
make a trade with the Chiefs to make something better.

Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Already talked about.

Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 23 (01:01:10):
I hope that since their division rivals, that that would
never happen. But I don't want to say never. I
just hate it because that would be something Pittsburgh would do.
I'd rather him go to the Chiefs than the Steelers. Yeah,
because right now that the AFC North stands in the
way the Bengals getting the playoffs more than the Chiefs.

Speaker 31 (01:01:27):
So, guys, Big Kahoona in Kentucky, not COVID nineteen down,
but not out. I'll tell you what will be in
the jungle Sunday Stanley Baseball is over. We need this
whole city fire up and give all of our family
to the Bengals. Let me tell you I need there
with me for good Mojo too.

Speaker 8 (01:01:38):
I need that boat.

Speaker 31 (01:01:39):
Disappeared down to Nashville couple of years ago after the
playoff win for the Titans. Jason Jadwin, thank you from
Zanes for anybody knows the intoning. We need him their
Sunday to be having a problem. Get in touch with
Big Kahunah. I'm on all social media platforms.

Speaker 16 (01:01:50):
I'd like to see and be.

Speaker 10 (01:01:51):
Ruler of the jungle.

Speaker 31 (01:01:52):
I mean, if they let that stank the mailman on
the field.

Speaker 32 (01:01:54):
Why won't they get Dad on his dudes OJ and
down the stretch they and Iron Turcott secretariat, Belmont steaks ride,
Perry oots Yeah Ford since he three sixty wins the
twenty twenty five Jeff Ruby steaks on de Looisville for

(01:02:16):
the Kentucky Derby, where the Pike Elmore box will be
rocking man?

Speaker 5 (01:02:22):
Can you imagine only imagine, That's.

Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
What I'm saying. Can you imagine a Sincy three sixty horse?
Oh my gosh? Can you imagine us having a box
at Derby? No, I'd take a box anyway.

Speaker 8 (01:02:36):
Hello lord, whatever happened to trenton Irwin? Is he no
longer on the team?

Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Is he just on the practice squad now?

Speaker 28 (01:02:44):
Because t Higgins is on the active roster?

Speaker 5 (01:02:47):
Now, let me know, we are not Google.

Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
We are not Google. Yeah, these are very basic answers
that you could find. It feels as if Trent's maybe
lost his way still exists. He still plays football for
the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (01:03:01):
Yeah, Hey, fellas, it's Adam, Hey, Adam, And something has
me really confused about the Cincinnati Reds. They parted ways
with David Bell because he was losing too much right, yep.
So now they're highly interested in Skipp Schumacher and David Ross,
who both have some five hundred records. Wouldn't you rather

(01:03:23):
have a winner from Triple A get called up to
the bigs instead of replacing losers with more losers.

Speaker 4 (01:03:30):
I was guilty of this at first until I actually
kind of dove into the hand that Schumacher was dealt
this year.

Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
Crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
I mean from an twenty of the twenty six players
that he took to the playoffs last year gone, Yeah,
from an injury standpoint alone, and not just injury. Then
they just traded everybody away. So I do not think
that was a skip Schumacher problem. I think that was
more of a team problem. Yeah, in my opinion, Tony Austin.

Speaker 4 (01:04:00):
It's your boy mere Mortal here.

Speaker 15 (01:04:02):
Yeah, just calling in wondering about Austin's weight loss.

Speaker 9 (01:04:06):
See where he's at.

Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
Oh, you know, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
I've drank a lot of way too much alcohol over
the last couple of months with the weddings that I've
been in, so it's plateaued, but we haven't gained any
of it back.

Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
Okay about the meror Mortal is just checking.

Speaker 26 (01:04:21):
In on you.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
It's your boy me Mortal here decided to do a
live weigh in, and I'm down eighteen pounds since.

Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
Man had a boy.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
All right, boy Mortal, Hey, Tony, Hey, Houstin, Kevin orth
Entucky here.

Speaker 33 (01:04:35):
I hope you guys are doing very well today. Sunday
Bengals Ravens. I think the Bengals best chance to win
is to jump out to an early lead, keep back
to it and make the Ravens play catch up the
entire game.

Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
What do you guys think?

Speaker 5 (01:04:48):
Take care of everybody today?

Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
The way I see it is, the game plan for
the Ravens is always the same. Make Lamar Jackson beat
you with his arm, yeah, and not his legs. And
don't let Derek Henry beat you with his legs. I
do not trust Lamar Jackson as a thrower in big moments.
Make him throw the football.

Speaker 4 (01:05:08):
Yeah, I mean, and now, I mean this is this
is what the first time in a long time we're
gonna go into a Ravens game and not talking about
Mark Andrews.

Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
So so I'm sure he'll explode for nine catches for
a buck forty and co.

Speaker 7 (01:05:22):
Hey, is anybody else is sick of Chris Canty beating
on the Bengals as I am. The dude has exactly
one more tackle in the Super Bowl than I do.
And I'm a sixty three year old arthritic man. He's
not exactly an expert.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
Who oh, I mean, the guy played the NFL for
a long time. I think he's a clown and I
would walk across the street to see Chris Canty.

Speaker 4 (01:05:41):
But but good luck on the arthritis.

Speaker 34 (01:05:45):
What is the affinity for Zach Moss?

Speaker 5 (01:05:47):
What do you mean he's been good, it's been good.

Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
He sucks.

Speaker 34 (01:05:51):
What are you talking about? The dude's one hundred and
fourth in yards per carry. He's twenty six in total yards.
I mean, Chase Brown has done well, but Zack Moss
should be getting like six five to sixth max seven
carries a game. I don't wonder like ro watching he
is terrible.

Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
Yeah, well, well let's start with this. First of all,
he's carrying it for almost four yards of carry. That's
four yards every plays a touchdown.

Speaker 26 (01:06:19):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Second of all, from a target standpoint, he's got the
fifth most targets on the team, that tells me, and
he averages eight yards per catch. He's caught twelve of
the fifteen targets sent his way, and I feel like
he's trusted by Joe Burrow in protection.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
That's the big thing, the protection. They've moved him around,
and he's actually done a lot of the stuff that
Drew Sample had been doing in the past when they
could not count on Joe Mixon the pass block. You
remember when when Sample was in the backfield on shotgun
formations yep, and Joe would point him up to this
part of the line or this part of the line,
or he chipped this guy or whatever it is. Zach
Moss has been able to do that and provide an

(01:07:01):
even better receiving threat than Drew Sample, a good blocking
running back as well. When you talk about how good
the Bengals offensive line is performed, and it's third I
think in the NFL right now, part of that's because
Zach Moss being on the field and alleviating that pressure.

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
And that right there in itself is the problem at
times with just saying, well, the stats say this.

Speaker 5 (01:07:23):
Yeah, and I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
He's not this running back there. You feel like every
time he gets it he can take it the distance.

Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
That's not who he is.

Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
He hasn't been that guy ever, right but if he's
dependable and he can fall forward for yards and get
you three or four carry, that's fine. And you have
the change of pace that works perfectly with Chase Brown.
Those two things work together. Yeah, sign why they're effective?
Sign me up for that change of pat.

Speaker 15 (01:07:46):
Tony Austin Jacob here and wanted to hit on the
Jordan's battle subject real quick.

Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
I mean, can he look worse than what we already
have out there? And on a defense?

Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
Is not executing anything.

Speaker 16 (01:07:54):
The way they should be.

Speaker 8 (01:07:56):
I kind of just think it's a lou Anna Rumo thing.

Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
He brought vomb Bell here to be his gun.

Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
I think he's riding it out.

Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
Maybe could be. Maybe.

Speaker 19 (01:08:05):
Hey, guys, I got two questions for you. First question,
is the Geno's Stone experiment working better than our Nick Scott?

Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
Yes, getting the job done.

Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
I don't think he's getting the job done, but I
think it's working better than Scott.

Speaker 19 (01:08:25):
Do you see the Bengals making any type of trade
to help the defense? Not a big splash, but any
type of trade at least get them somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
No, and I would love them too, That's just not
who they are. I could see it happening, but I
couldn't see it happening until the deadline itself. See how
the guys come back, how they perform, and if they
are able to, you know, make enough progress over the
next month and say, okay, we're good with this or
if not, or if there's another injury, then I could

(01:08:54):
see them making a move. I wouldn't say it's likely. Also,
Nick Scott terrible, not good, Von Belt not good, Gino
Stone not good. At what point do we question the
coaches question mark? Since Jordan Battle apparently can't do it anymore? Yeah,
Tyson Anderson never developed as a safety careful, careful saying

(01:09:16):
any negatives. I mean, Jesse Bates got out of town,
he was pretty good. Uh, but what happened, what happened
after he left that position has been a train wreck.
I would say, mere, Mortals, you guys want to talk.
You want to yell at Frank Pollack meror Mortals yell
at Frank Pollack all the time? Who even is the
safety's coach? Jordan Kovacs huh Loui Ana Rumo dB mastermind

(01:09:39):
with some respect on the name.

Speaker 15 (01:09:41):
You know.

Speaker 35 (01:09:41):
I stepped outside this morning, oh deep with yep, this
beautiful fall air went outside you know, fed the horses walk,
the dog dropped the line, and it just felt like
I was getting met in the a gap in JV
high school football.

Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
Today it is a peak football season starting now.

Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
Met the you know who? That sounds like, who's that?
Just fresh brands?

Speaker 29 (01:10:04):
Hey, guys, Marc from the group, I know we're at
the part of the week where we had to do
the transition from previous week to Sunday. I don't have
anything yet for Sunday, and with the Wildcats being on
a buye how about how about that big win by
the wildcast last week against Old Miss. But when it

(01:10:24):
comes to the Reds to the front office wants to
keep this fan base engaged. Go sign Francona and go
get Corba Burns.

Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
Oh, I've signed me up. I agree with you, Marcus.
Just sitting back today's coming off the best win in
school history. Kentucky's on a by Bearcats are on a buy.
He's not ready to turn the table yet to the
Baltimore Ravens. So let me talk to you a little
bit about these rats.

Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
I firmly agree with Marcus.

Speaker 36 (01:10:52):
Yeah, I can say it with certainty. All and Memos
are football players. All is just fantastic. He can play
on my team many day of the week. I think
it'd be good line him up up as a full
back sometimes offensive line. Frank Paula keep his job for now.
They're playing great running games. Great, We'll just try to

(01:11:15):
get this defensive line figured out.

Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
It's a good start.

Speaker 11 (01:11:21):
Hey, guys, pause to Paul here. Just wanted to bring
this up. I like the idea of Brad Austmas being
the manager of the Reds because of the intelligence factor
of the catcher. Brat Ostmas was a great catcher. He
knows pitching staffs. I think that could be a really
big asset to us. I don't mind Skip Schumacher, but

(01:11:44):
I think Bratt Ostmas would be a lot better in
the long term for a more pitching staff.

Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
Okay, all right, Austin, I'm open to that. Throw it
in the hat.

Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
I'm open to that.

Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
He's with the Yankees right now.

Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
Throw Austmas in the hopper if you will.

Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
And what the hopper the upper.

Speaker 14 (01:12:04):
Guys, because Shaq Taylor here, listen. I know you were
tuned into my pressure difference, and like I said, we
just need to have the biggest, strongest, fastest guys on
the field. Don't sweat it. We're gonna have our offense out.

Speaker 15 (01:12:18):
And ready to go.

Speaker 14 (01:12:19):
All they have to do is play perfect football and
hope our defense can get one stop. That's not asking
too much. We have a good game plan. There are
a great players and to play complimentary football. Man, don't
sweat it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Coach hitting on all all ths. Couple of hits today.

Speaker 22 (01:12:38):
It took me forty eight hours to be able to
articulate the legend It with Mold and the hits. It
with Mold and the Cincinnati legend it with game played.
How about that boom it with Ad bad it with
everything that he encompassed about being a legend of Cincinnati.
And also how many time do you think he bet

(01:12:58):
on periudes to win?

Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Oh my gosh, how about that?

Speaker 5 (01:13:02):
That's what I said yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
Can you imagine the amount of times he walked up
to that window and said, gimme Perry utes in the two.

Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
You could probably make a documentary called Pete and Perry.

Speaker 9 (01:13:14):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Riggin and Will I'm
wondering one thing. If Brad Robbins had not gotten hurt,
would he have made the team as the punter or
would Uncle Rico have made the team?

Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
Now?

Speaker 30 (01:13:32):
Do you know?

Speaker 26 (01:13:32):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:13:33):
Do you know when when they were originally talking about
the Pete Rose statue, when this ties back to the
last one, they said, you know, they kind of asked Pete,
They said, what should the Pete Rose statue look like?
It's in twenty sixteen, he said, I sure in hell
don't want it to be standing at Turfway Park out
of the two outside the two dollar window. He was, Yes,
that was a quote. He joked about that in twenty sixteen.

(01:13:57):
I sure in hell don't want it to be standing
at Turfway Park work in the two dollars window?

Speaker 3 (01:14:04):
Didn't he when they open the bet MGM at the ballpark?
Wasn't he the first one?

Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
And he bet one hundred on the Reds win the
World Series. Oh gosh, that's funny, man. That might be
one of my favorite quotes.

Speaker 30 (01:14:15):
Hello, this is Seth and Simpson Township. I believe Talkback
God to be a false prophet. He offers nothing of
any substance. He has no knowledge on any topic. He
provides no fulfillment, no direction to any of his so
called followers.

Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
Man, he is an idol. Have a blessed day, Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
False prophecies, oh man today, since joke, I want to
make out there to a certain person who's listening, I
can't make it believable.

Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
God's always listening.

Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
Uh No, it's not the God. It's the guy named Harold.
But you know who you are. I think I I
think I agree with Seth. I think I agree with
Seth and Prophet. You guys would not believe the amount
of talkbacks I've skipped from talkback God. Oh that are
just awful. Really, yeah, I should have skipped the one

(01:15:16):
today that was our last one.

Speaker 4 (01:15:19):
Huh So our last one today is calling out the
the Savior, the Savior. I don't know if that's a
good way to go into where's Harry, Harry Carey, where
are you?

Speaker 26 (01:15:29):
Well?

Speaker 4 (01:15:30):
Listen, Harry's kind of hit that point where he reached
a peak of stardom, and maybe you put it in
neutral a little bit. Yeah, maybe you're you're throwing it
neutral going down the hill a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
It might be difficult to, you know, navigate the fifteen
minutes after they're up.

Speaker 15 (01:15:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:15:45):
Well, you'd also thought Harry would have had a ward
or two on Pete watching him play from time to time.

Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
Yeah, for all those years. I mean, gosh, Pete almost
broke the record at Wrigley Field.

Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
Interesting, that's a good point.

Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
More points on the Bengals coming up, not points to score,
but more points on the game and who should play more?
Probably should play less? Come Sunday against the Ravens on
Cincy three to sixty Home of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 10 (01:16:14):
Thanks to CINCI Shirts, the Bengals Wrestle with the Ravens.
Coverage starts Sunday morning at nine on the ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Bengals.

Speaker 12 (01:16:24):
San I've got really, really, really really good news for you.
I'll tell you the good news at three oh five
today on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 10 (01:16:34):
This is Football in the Natti on the official home
of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
All right, welcome back. It's Cincy three to sixty ESPN
fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to our friends at
Cincy Shirts. Coming up at the top of our number
two from Local twelve. Richard Skinner will join us, and
we have all things to talk. Bengals about with skinny.
But before we do that for football in the NATI
here we've talked snapcount and that's been a big topic

(01:17:02):
of conversation. And you know, I think a lot of
the topic of the conversation around snapcount is because the
guys that are getting the majority of snaps, at least
on the defensive side of the ball, it doesn't feel
like they're getting the job done the way that perhaps
many had hoped that they would. So when it comes
to the snap count view, and it's one of the

(01:17:23):
things I'd like to do first after a game for
the Cincinnati Bengals to say, Okay, who is the staff
turning to who right now is garnering the trust of
the staff to play a majority of the snaps? And
there have been players through the weeks that are seeing
again in that For instance, Chris Jenkins played twenty two
snaps against the Carolina Panthers and he had one of

(01:17:44):
the most influential plays in my opinion of that game
when he stopped the goal line run by the Carolina Panthers. So,
you know, and speaking with reporters, lu Ayn Rumo made
it clear after the game that Chris Jenkins will get
quote as many plays as he can handle going forward.

(01:18:05):
So Chris Jenkins snap count going up. I love it.
I thought what we saw from DJ Turner was a
good sign. Whether that it's for Dax Hill, whether it's
for Cam Taylor, Britt, DJ Turner needs to see more snaps.
We've made a lot about Eric Al and his snaps
right now for the Cincinnati Bengals, and quite frankly, I

(01:18:28):
think Eric All is very deserving of all the snaps
that he's getting. He saw sixty percent of the offensive
snaps on Sunday, whereas T Higgins saw just sixty four percent.
So as we sit here today, Austin, do you have
players that you've watched over the last couple weeks that
you sit back and say, man, I'd like to see
more of that player, or on the other side, feel

(01:18:50):
like I've seen enough of that player already.

Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
I've seen enough of Zach Carter. I don't think I
need to see any more of him. That guy stinks.

Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
Have we universally agreed on something more than that?

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
I don't think so. I don't think so. I mean,
it's just a guy who does not look like he
belongs on an NFL field. Nope, like get just completely outmatched,
and I wonder what is going through the minds of
offensive linemen line up, Yeah, because like you've done this,
You've played against people where it's like, Okay, I'm in
a different league than that guy. And that's what I

(01:19:20):
feel like, is it's what I feel like we're going
through with Zach Carter.

Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
I haven't watched more interior defensive line in my life
than when I watch when Zach Carter goes into the game.

Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
You know, I thought, I think Paul Daaner had the
stats in his story that Hubbard played nineteen of his
fifty snaps on the interior, which is something I wanted
to see going into the Carolina game. So I think
that's been a nice adjustment. I think continuing to work
Chase Brown in in different ways. And I'm curious to

(01:19:55):
see the evolution of MIKEASICKI because I feel like there's
parts of the offense to be unlocked with him. Yeah,
And that's a good thing to be able to have
those different, you know, ways that you can take. I
think the biggest I would want to see more of
Jordan Battle obviously, and I would want to see less
of Zach Carter.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
That's where I feel like the topic of conversation around
snap count goes a little in the wrong direction because
so many people just look at the snap count and say,
why is why Why is Zach Moss still have that
many snaps? Well, to me, it's about the plays they're given.
How many touches is all I care about, not the snapcount,
And Zach Moss has more snaps Stacy better and pass port.

Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
I would be curious to know the percentage of snaps
that Chase Brown was on the field in which he
was either targeted or given the ball. Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (01:20:46):
All right, we got a break, We got to come back,
a quick touch and go and then we'll get to
Richard Skinner for our three of Since he three to
sixty on the SBN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 10 (01:20:54):

Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
Can we have good players or good chemistry?

Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
Well, welcome back, It's Cincy three sixty and you talk
about Penn Station, you talk about good taste, Austin. I
like to think we have good taste and guests that
we bring on this shit.

Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
Got that right, pal?

Speaker 4 (01:21:36):
And who better to kick off our number three with
us than the man on the beat for the Cincinnati
Bengals for Local twelve. You know him as Richard Skinner.
We know him, Miss Skinny. What's up, Skinny?

Speaker 8 (01:21:48):
How you guys doing great?

Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
Skinny? How are you castic?

Speaker 8 (01:21:52):
I'm fabulous, Skinny? Feel better?

Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
One in three the sky's not falling, right, you have
some optimism.

Speaker 8 (01:21:58):
Now, one in three the sky's not falling, but one
in four it will be falling. So that's how big
this game is this week.

Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
I'll just say that the difference of two and three
in one and four, both in the AFC North and
the AFC as a whole, it feels so much more
than just one game, right.

Speaker 8 (01:22:16):
Yeah, I mean, because then you know you've got a
game in hand over Baltimore. You put Baltimore at the
same record you're at it two and three. You feel
like Pittsburgh's gonna come back to the pack and you
still got them twice, right, and so yeah, and instead
of one and four, having won a home game, lost
your first divisional game after going one in five in
the division last year, that puts you in a big,

(01:22:36):
big hole. So yeah, it feels like more than one
win to your point.

Speaker 4 (01:22:41):
From where this team is at right now practicing today.
We heard from Zach Taylor earlier from a health standpoint,
getting guys back off ir Trey hendrickson, where do things
stand right now from a health standpoint.

Speaker 8 (01:22:53):
Yeah, So just while I was just literally walking in
from the thirty minutes, we get to launch a practice
and Trey was going through individual drills. McKinley and Miles
Mercy Djihill all going through individual drill. So I think
that's a good thing. I don't think McKinley's gonna play.
I mean, he's only had a handful of practices since
training camp started, but I think encouraging Tray was out there,

(01:23:14):
I think Miles has a real good shot to play,
and seeing BG out there I think he's got a
real shot to play Skinny.

Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
I'm going through this the thought of the Baltimore Ravens,
and you know, you know what they're going to do,
and unfortunately it's what the Bengals have not been able
to stop at this point. Does that change an offensive
game plan going into a game Baltimore gives up the
least amount of rushing yards per game, They're not as
good at all against the pass. Do you let that

(01:23:38):
effect offensive game planning to go in and say, okay,
well we need to we need to try to run
the ball to give the defense a rest or. Do
you come out and just play to your strength and
the weakness of the Ravens? How do you navigate that?

Speaker 8 (01:23:51):
I think this running game's evolving into a strength And yeah,
maybe I'm I'm blinded by Carolina's badness, but they ran
the ball effectively against Washington as well. It just didn't
run very much six yards of pop. I think it's
become a big part of what they do that they
can lean into the run game, and the run game
opens up to play actually pass game for them.

Speaker 27 (01:24:10):
So I think to that point, I think.

Speaker 8 (01:24:13):
You have to do what you're doing right now, which
is unalyze all those weapons utilize are too tight in
personnel sets. Occasionally throw three wide receivers out there instead.
I think you've got a lot of things you can
do to dictate, and I think that's the important part
of this offense right now, is I think it has
the ability to dictate the defenses. Yeah, I know that
Baltimore number is what it is, and they're usually really

(01:24:33):
good against the run. But you know, they got up
you know, they got up big against Dallas, and I
think Dallas to it on every down. It felt like,
you know, Buffalo got down big and threw it on
most downs the other night. So some of that can
be skewed a little bit. They're good against the run,
but I think the Bengals have a really good rushing
offense too.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
I look on the defensive side of the ball, and
we've all documented how how rough and bad it's been
at times. When you look at the defense, does it
feel like just getting guys back healthy is enough for
this defense or do you feel like this is pretty
much what this defense is going to be.

Speaker 8 (01:25:08):
It's a fair question. So let's look at the first
two games, and we can certainly are you know, it's
an arguable that New England's offense is pedestrian, but the
first two games with DJ Hill and Sheldon Rankins, the
defense was really good. It did get gassed against.

Speaker 1 (01:25:20):
The run, but overall it was good.

Speaker 8 (01:25:21):
It gave up thirteen points against New England, three others
came on the Charlie Jones fumble, and they gave up
nineteen against Kansas City because seven came on a scoop
and score. That's pretty good. And then those two guys
go out and I think it's it's just been a
trickle down effect that you know, we've all seen the
number of Zach Carter one thirteen of one thirteen in
pass rush win rate and not winning a single pass rush.

(01:25:41):
Uh to this point, I mean, that's not almost impossible
to believe you could. Honestly, I'm not so sure you
couldn't put a safety down in there and I could
we help.

Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
But laugh like that's actually funny.

Speaker 8 (01:25:52):
It is. It's insane to think about it. And it's
not twenty snaps, man, it's the deefon amount of steps
more than one one.

Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
Yeah, I I I wonder we saw DJ Turner get
reps in place of Cam Taylor Britt and Luanna Arumo
a little bit quicker to go to a different option.
Were you surprised at all, and not the decision, but
the response from Louanna Arumo this week when when asked
about Jordan.

Speaker 8 (01:26:17):
Battle, Yeah, a little bit, but I think I think
that's been the trend. I think that was part of
the reason of bringing von Bell back was a to
settle the defense and also to teach Jordan Battle what
it means to be to prepare himself for a season.
And I think you know, some of that's on that,

(01:26:39):
but also the he's a box safety, Bombo is a
box safety Bombos at the moment. That may not trend
that way all year long. The way Vond's playing at
the moment, the fact that he's a thirty year old safety,
he's got some mileage under the belt. It may eventually
trend towards Jordan's. But I think this is on Jordan
to evolve forward to to really literally earn snaps on
the field, and I think that's where we're.

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
At with this skinny on the offensive side of the ball.
There's a lot made about snap counts versus touches, and
you know, you would know more than any Chase Brown
I think is deserving enough more touches. But how important
is Zach Moss in the passing game and the pass
protection game with his value to this team As to

(01:27:20):
why he continues to lead the snap.

Speaker 8 (01:27:22):
Count, I think he's been great in pass proud. I mean,
you can beg the difference you want, but the snaps
I've watched him. You know, Joe gets him said a
lot of times, and that you know in between the
garden center spot he didn't get lined up I guess
properly the other day he once, but once he does
he I think he's really good at it, and I
think that is important. And he gives you just a
different dimension as a runner, and Chase gives you a

(01:27:43):
different dimension as a runner. I think they both have
their strengths, and I think they've kind of played into
those strengths this last game. You're probably not gonna get
that formula right every game. I think he'd liked you
if you said, hey, before a game, we want to
get thirty rushes and fifteen from each and you know,
have productivity from both. You're not going to get that
every game. But I do think you know, playing to
their strengths against different opponents. You may see one week

(01:28:03):
it's more Chase on megas war Zach and I think
that's a good thing.

Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
When you look at the rookies and we've talked a
lot about the defensive side of the ball and maybe
some mispicks, but you know, Zach Taylor was very high
in praising them today. Your excitement just around Eric, all
your excitement around Marius Mims and not only seeing what
they're doing now, but what they can evolve into for
this Bengals offense.

Speaker 8 (01:28:28):
There was a couple of fridays ago we were talking
to Zach after practice and we bought up Eric Hall
and he had, you know, Earl it might have been
been to the New England game and he said, I'm
just telling you, this guy's a dude. And I thought, okay,
let me see it. I think he's become that. I mean,
he is physical when he comes in motion off the
wing for those lamb blocks. I'm not sure they've had
a tight done that in a long time or cable

(01:28:48):
will we even doing that in a long time. That
answered the running game. He's a natural receiver. I think
he said twelve targets and caught off twelve and again
he looks natural catching the football. I think he's just
been superb, probably more than what they thought it. Honestly, Tony.
I think when they drafted him, it was more of
the thought of, right, let's get him, probably give him
a red shirt ear because he's coming off the knee injury,

(01:29:09):
and then we'll go from there. And I mean, if
you had to draw up a tight end one at
the moment, yeah, I guess he's a better receiver, right,
I mean, he's a pure receiver. But if you had
to just put a tight end one and say that's
your guy, he's eric Ah.

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
Yeah, how many different levels of offense does that unlocked
for them, Skinny to be able to have a tight
end that's that dynamic.

Speaker 8 (01:29:28):
I think a ton often because like I said, we've
seen him line up on a wing, We've seen him
line up in line, we've seen him line up as
a fullback. So defense is you know, he's physical at
the point of attack, physical when he goes in motion.
And then oh, by the way, some of those times
you play action pass and he releases, or he goes
in motion, you play action pass and he slips out
into the flat because the coverage has dropped, and then

(01:29:50):
I think he's gonna be a good guy after the
catch as well when he gets some opportunities. I just
I think they've they've fallen into a tight end for
a change. That's been a long time since you can go, hey,
he got a legit three down time?

Speaker 26 (01:30:02):
Ye Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:30:04):
The offensive line as a whole, are you surprised to
see where they're great? And are you surprised to see
how far they've come with when this is I mean,
let's face it, years since we've been doing this and
talking the offensive line has been an issue. How how
drastically different is it up front right now?

Speaker 8 (01:30:20):
I think it's pretty good. I know, you know, Cordelska
keeps getting ding but overall, I think it's been been terrific.
I I you know, I didn't think ted Terrice had
a great year last year. I think he's had a
pretty good.

Speaker 15 (01:30:31):
Year this year.

Speaker 27 (01:30:32):
You know, Kapa got dinged up a little bit last year,
and you.

Speaker 8 (01:30:36):
Know, a Marius Mims is going to be just a dude.
And I think Orlando Brown, who didn't play I don't
think great last year, has gotten off to a good start.
But she has you know, a back of a baseball cart.
That suggests he's been pretty good in this league for
for a long period of time, and so I think
he's had a little bit of a bounce back in
that regard. He add all that together the fact that
four of those five guys have played together. You know,

(01:30:57):
Mims is the new guy to the mix, the right
tackles on is gonna be the new guy in the
next But you've got four guys that played a bunch
of snaps together. I think that's been important too. And
and you know, the poor Landa to go into second
year with these guys is probably helpful.

Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
H Skinny, I thought that DJ Turner played pretty well
when Cam Taylor brit was removed from the game on Sunday.
Do you think that could lead to more opportunities for
DJ Turner H as Dax Hill and UH and Cam
Taylor Brick continue to figure it out.

Speaker 15 (01:31:25):
I do.

Speaker 8 (01:31:25):
And I think you know, to his credit, I mean,
you know, this is a kid that kind of hit
the rookie wall last year, struggled down to st camp.
I say, you got a battle with a converted safety
and Dak's still to win your job back. And that's
one at fair and square, no question. I even think
DJ had a bad camp, but Dax was the better player,
and so you know, it's probably disappointing for him, and
yet he was ready when he was called upon Sunday

(01:31:47):
to go out there and play, and yet when he
played really, really well. It's such a weird positionous league.
Sometimes these guys are going to swamps like baseball players league,
Like if the team games swamp against something they can't technique,
I discipline, It's just weird. And I think Cam's in
that run at the moment. I don't think they take

(01:32:07):
him out of the starting lineup, but I think that,
you know, like the baseball analogy, the hook can be quick.
Now that hey too bad series in a row man,
I gotta go to the bullpen here, and maybe you
go back to him again, kind of like the re
entry rule in Little league baseball. You can re enter him,
which is a good thing. But I do think that
the way DJ played it certainly gives him a chance
to get more opportunity.

Speaker 4 (01:32:27):
To that point, skinny cannot be a positive for a
team because you are starting slow and your backs are
against the wall, and when you are willing to pull
the plug early. Does that in turn become a positive
for a team, because maybe you have players that don't
get comfortable, maybe they do play with a little bit
more of a sense of urgency because they know what's
at stake and they know at any point they can

(01:32:49):
be sat down.

Speaker 3 (01:32:49):
From a game.

Speaker 8 (01:32:51):
Yeah, it's a great point. And I like Cam a lot.
I know he's come under fire this year and he's
brought some of that he's done himself. But I think
he's a really good player and I think he will
snap out of this. But I do think that if
you're him, you go, man, I got to fix what
I'm doing wrong and maybe maybe use next to doing whatever.
Maybe I got sloppy with my technique. Maybe I was

(01:33:11):
thinking more interceptions. Maybe I was trying to bait quarterbacks
into throwing that deep ball and knowing I'll catch up
and pick it off. And he does have the athleticism
to do that. But you know, you try to think
you're too cute, and maybe that's what it is for him,
and he just in a little bit of a mini
plump and the fact that you got yanked, go back
to doing what made you a pretty good player, maybe
made you potentially a Pro Bowl player and and go

(01:33:33):
back to what worked for you. And I think that's
a positive.

Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
One thing I don't think we expected to be doing
after week four was talking about the punter. But when
you see what Rico has done to this point, how
impressive has been and how much of a weapon can
this truly become? I know the sample size isn't there yet,
but this has the potential to become a weapon. And
this was a position of you know, you never thought

(01:33:58):
of it as a weapon. You just said can it?
Can it not be a detriment to the team. But
we've already seen what Rico can do and how it
helps this defense. Especially.

Speaker 8 (01:34:06):
I mean that's sixty four yard a pinning a guy
against the sideline. I mean, you can't do that any better.
Long high put the guy in a spot where he
couldn't really return it because he's along the sideline. Then
the other part is, you know when when you're backed up,
I mean, let's just say you're putting from your own amazon,
that's where you're staying, and your hope is to maybe
get the other team on the on the other side
of the fifty. But he's got a chance to put

(01:34:28):
you back to the other thirty. Yeah, I mean literally
flip the field completely. I think that's a huge weapon
to have. And I think the big part for him,
because he didn't have it at times in camp, was
you saw it too Tony. There's times he kicked it,
you go pull, and then there be times you can't
go yes. And I haven't seen that from him yet
in the regular season. Maybe he's done it come in practice.
I don't know, but he sure hasn't shown up in
games at this point.

Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
Uh, are we overlooking just how good Joe Burrow has
been to start the season when so many questions were
about the arm and the wrist and where he was at.
And I know the team's off to a one and
three st aren't, but statistically, are we overlooking just how
elite he's been?

Speaker 15 (01:35:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:35:05):
It was weird. I know that was a national narrative
last week, right. I think Chris Canty brought it up
and somebody else brought up that he's kind of slipped
in tears as a quarterback. And listen, the narrative coming
out of the opener was legit. In my opinion, he
didn't look right. I mean dunking and Duncan and you know,
maybe he just didn't trust himself and kind of like
with the knee, he just finally went, you know what
the heck with this, I'm just gonna play whatever happens
happened in the last three weeks. That's don't lie man

(01:35:28):
Leeton seventy percent of his passes for two hundred and
seventy yard yards a game, eight touchdowns, the one pick
that he and Chase around on the same page, and
one hundred plus passer rating. That said Joe Burrow that
you know statistically right, I mean, so you take take
the first game in an ring game, and honestly he
tossed it by the wayside. He kind of stinks because
you're gonna look back on that game and absolutely regret

(01:35:48):
losing it through the Bengals. But the last three games,
that's Joe Burrow, and that's where I can't understand where
that national narrative has come from.

Speaker 4 (01:35:56):
Yeah, I just I think with how good he's capable
of being, it gives you a hope that they can
get this turn around. I guess that's kind of where
I want to wrap with this. Like I know that
that one in three was not in the cards, but
with what this team has from a personnel standpoint, do
you feel like they got a run? I mean, do
you feel like they believe that they're not out of this?

(01:36:18):
That there is a team inside those walls at pay
Corse Stadium that can get out of this and still
make this not only an a AFC race, And I
know a lot comes down to Sunday, but a chance
that this team can still make the playoffs and have
an impact this season.

Speaker 8 (01:36:33):
Yeah, but you've dug yourself that whole of your point, Tony,
and even you, I mean, they could play I think
you'd agree with this. You and Aughd you would agree
with this. You could play a really good game Sunday
and still lose because Baltimore is really really really really
really really really really really good. And so that's the
unfortunate part of that is, you know, need to.

Speaker 27 (01:36:48):
Come out of this month.

Speaker 8 (01:36:48):
On three and one, played a good game against Baltimore,
you know, just back and forth, and they made one
more play than you made, and you goill had stucks
because you've got blue an opportunity. But at three and
two you got plenty more to ground. You're not still
the whole, You're one in four. I think we could
argue that ten and seven is probably the playoff number
you need to get to. That means nine and three
the rest of the way with still trips to Baltimore

(01:37:08):
or to Pittsburgh to Cleveland to Dallas. I mean, that's
that's a big ass if you don't come away with
a win here.

Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Well, in your opinion, to wrap what what is the
biggest key, because you could say stopping the run for Baltimore,
I don't know how they stop the run on Sunday.
So what's your biggest key to find a way to
win as a home dog, which is rare under Joe Burrow.

Speaker 8 (01:37:30):
Yeah, I'm not so sure that. I'm not so sure
that I don't try to make Lamour into a passer
and and you know drop people make him check stuff down.
He hits so much that stuff in the intermediate areaw.

Speaker 27 (01:37:43):
Watching them. You want to go, what's impossible? Stop the
quarterback calls the ability to run it. Billy Henry can
just run it down your sword. They put a founding
down full back of the back.

Speaker 8 (01:37:52):
Then they play action off of it. They got two
tight ends that can go catch. Although Mark Andrews kind
of looks like a little bit of a shell of himself.
Dave Flowers can stretch the field. It looked like the
most impossible offense in the world to stop.

Speaker 27 (01:38:04):
And so, to be honest with you, I.

Speaker 8 (01:38:06):
Think you need to have a little help from Baltimore here.
You need a key drop on third down. You need
Lamar to throw one to the other team. You need
maybe Lamar to put one on the ground like he
did the other other night. And you need to somehow
find a way to play from ahead. And that's you know,
that's certainly easier said than done. You get behind the
eight ball with these guys are just gonna line up
and you're gonna be playing guessing game the rest of
the day. It's I think if they're gonna win this game,

(01:38:29):
it's got to be in some kind.

Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
Of a shootout for To be honest with you, Skinny,
I always appreciate your time, man. I know, uh getting ready.
I believe Joe Burrow speaks today as well. So thank
you for fed us in in between, and enjoy the
rest of your week.

Speaker 8 (01:38:41):
You bet anytime they'll take it, sir.

Speaker 4 (01:38:42):
There he is Richard Skinner, Local twelve. Skinny nice enough
to join us today. Kind of got a that's a
good time to get skinny after Zach speaks. Yeah, after
they're off the practice field. We need to start getting
ready for Burrow on Wednesdays. I just came up with
an idea, Uh do this on Wednesdays. Get a Beat
reporter at two o'clock every Wednesday and then give them

(01:39:03):
questions to ask Joe Burrow.

Speaker 5 (01:39:06):
Yeah, it just it just hit me.

Speaker 4 (01:39:08):
That's on me.

Speaker 5 (01:39:09):
I gotta be better.

Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
We're better.

Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
I think maybe we could even uh put that up
to talkbacks m and so we have a few from
our talkbackers.

Speaker 4 (01:39:20):
To fillow the fine talkbackers yep, to feed the beat yep,
that pay course stadium.

Speaker 3 (01:39:27):
Well, probably get a cease and desist from the Bengals
about thirty sevens very very quickly. But for a while
it was a great idea. We'll break we'll come back.

Speaker 4 (01:39:36):
Now that we've got the Bengals done, it's a bye
week for the Cincinnati Bearcats, let's look ahead to everything
else going on in Week five of the NFL. That
when we returned Sincy three to sixty thanks to Penn
Station on the home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 12 (01:39:50):
Now your chance to win it my show or from
Sincy three to sixty. The good news is you can
get caught up by listening to what you missed on
the iHeartRadio app or on the podcast page of ESPN
fifteen thirty dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
Cincy three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
Welcome back Sincy three sixty, a service of Penn station
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station. Thank you for
joining us rolling along here on Wednesday, we'll talk to Mowagrian.
Just a few minutes. Baseball getting ready to uh to go.
A couple minutes away from first pitch my Tigers between
the Tigers and the Astros.

Speaker 3 (01:40:39):
Some college basketball news here ton you ready for this,
Let's go. The NCAA announced earlier today that ud Arena
will remain the host of the first four through twenty
twenty eight. Good it was already extended through twenty twenty six.
They came to an agreement it will remain the host
of the first four through twenty eight. The Udy Arena

(01:41:03):
has been an NCAA site every year since two thousand
and one, so that's an easy decision. It's one of
my favorite things to do. I've gone the last two years.
It's awesome, so much fun.

Speaker 4 (01:41:14):
Good news there for Dayton. We talked to Little uc
and Xavier day as well. We've kind of covered it all.
Let's look ahead now to what's gonna happen starting tomorrow,
because that's when Week five in the National Football League
gets underway. And it gets underway, I think with a
good one here Austin, a battle between division opponents, and
a battle of I think one of the more surprising

(01:41:34):
teams so far in the National Football League, the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, travel to Atlanta, and you kind of feel
like Kirk Cousins is starting to figure it out a
little bit, he's getting more comfortable. Tampa comes off I
think one of the most impressive wins of the year
with what they did against Philly. But that's gonna get
your Week five underway tomorrow night. I think that's a great,

(01:41:57):
great Thursday night football game.

Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
You know, four to week five is when you start
to see where teams are at in the National Football League.
Once you get into this point of October, you're starting
to figure out who's who in the NFL, and I
think there's legit questions with Atlanta, are they ready to
be that team? Kyle Pitts is on the side of
a milk carton just like Mark Andrews's. Kirk Cousins continues

(01:42:21):
to look comfortable. That defense is figuring some stuff out.
Young Waiku is an absolute weapon, and when the Falcons
are good, Mercedes Beens Stadium's a tough place to play. Yeah,
I mean you saw it this week. They hate the
New Orleans Saints there, and the Saints heard about it
that entire game. I'm looking forward to that one just
because Baker seems to step up in those big moments,

(01:42:41):
and that winner of that game could be the NFC
South champ. Like most teams.

Speaker 4 (01:42:45):
They took the Kansas City Chiefs to the limit as
well a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
A good question, Mark send tweet.

Speaker 4 (01:42:51):
I have to say yes, just because we've seen this before.
Are they good enough to win the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:42:57):
Okay, how about this nine to thirty in London Sunday
Jets Vikings. Now, this was a game probably when the
schedule came out. I'm like, I don't care, I can't
wait to watch this now. Yeah, Jets Vikings should be
fantastic Bears an awesome chance to get above five hundred
at Week five with the game at home against the Panthers.

(01:43:18):
Of course we know about Bengals Ravens. Is there a
worst matchup on Sunday than Dolphins Patriots?

Speaker 26 (01:43:24):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
Probably not. It's tough to watch.

Speaker 4 (01:43:26):
I think it's an interesting one for Cleveland, who is
spiraling in the wrong direction. Their defense doesn't look as elite.
Deshaun Watson still trying to figure it out. But they
get to go to Washington, who is now the talk
of the NFL, and with being the talk comes a
lot more attention on the team. So I think this
is a low key, a good game on Sunday between
the Browns and.

Speaker 3 (01:43:46):
Command Commanders are three point favorites at home against Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (01:43:50):
Yeah, imagine that. Imagine that Colts Jaguars. Yeah, Bill's Texans.

Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
Says a lot to me that the Jags are three
point favorites.

Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
Yeah, And there's the whole is Anthony Richards are gonna
play or not?

Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
We'll see Bill Texans. This the Fon Diggs game. Yeah,
this is a big game. This is a big week
if you are a red zone watcher. The one o'clock
Window is fantastic obviously, Bengals Ravens. And then you've got
Buffalo and Houston. Uh, and this is the Fon Diggs game. Yeah, man, listen,
I love to root against the Fon Diggs, but I
think in this case, we want Buffalo to lose. Yeah,

(01:44:28):
So I guess it's Isn't that sad?

Speaker 4 (01:44:30):
We're doing right already? The late slate, Raiders, Broncos, some
surprising two and two teams I think, but not much there, Cardinals,
forty nine Ers, Niners trending in the wrong direction. Put
Chris mccaff it's weird, right, it's weird. He's got this
tendonitis in the achilles of both of his legs. One

(01:44:55):
leg is worse than the other and apparently he went
to Germany to get treatment for this.

Speaker 5 (01:45:00):
That poor guy.

Speaker 4 (01:45:01):
Yeah, I started interview with his dad where his dad's like, literally,
there's no one in the NFL that spends more on
his health and body than he does.

Speaker 3 (01:45:08):
It's crazy, man, And I feel like there's nothing you
can I mean, I'm not a professional. I feel like
there's not much you can do.

Speaker 4 (01:45:14):
You know, he trains at a high level, you know,
he just doesn't take the season off. All you gotta
do is probably just sit there and ice.

Speaker 15 (01:45:19):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:45:20):
Cardinals are one and three, but they've shown signs of life.
Packers rams anything there?

Speaker 3 (01:45:25):
Yeah, I think three weeks ago it was, but now
not as much.

Speaker 4 (01:45:29):
What about the Giants.

Speaker 3 (01:45:30):
That'll be cool to see eighty thousand Packer fans in
Los Angeles. Giants Seahawks. Okay, I'm okay, I'm in on this. Okay,
I'm in on this. Giants defense has looked better, Daniel
Jones has looked better, and an advanced scouting opportunity. Malik
Neighbors is worth the watch. Yep uh, and obviously the
weapons at Seattle has you know Smith I think has

(01:45:51):
played some pretty good quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:45:53):
I don't hate that game Cowboys Steelers. That's an interesting
one on Sunday night. Yeah, and well the Steelers by
then have Davante adds.

Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
I hope not. I really really hope not.

Speaker 4 (01:46:04):
I think it's a it's a it's a game. Though
It's it's weird to me because it doesn't feel like
many people are buying the Steelers at three and one,
and there's a lot of doubt kind of around the
Dallas Cowboys. If the Steelers win this game in Dallas,
you have to start changing the conversation about them. Well,
I do think it's in Pittsburgh or in Pittsburgh. Yes,
so that's gonna play a role. But with doubts, yes,
I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
If if Justin Fields comes out, and I think you
saw Justin Fields last week it looked like he was
starting to turn a corner. If he's able to do
that against Dallas against Mike Zimmer. Uh, and you know
that's an interesting matchup by the way, right with with
Mike Tomlin and Mike Zimmer. But yeah, I mean the
Steelers are favored in this game. They are two and
a half point favorites. I think the big reason for

(01:46:46):
that is how good their defenses get has been and
how bad Dallas has been on offense. Yep uh, But
I mean, heck Man a two and a half point
favorite at home on a Sunday night for Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (01:46:55):
Nobody saw that.

Speaker 4 (01:46:56):
Come at the beginning of the year and at the
end of it all another primetime game and look rightfully so,
because they've won it for back to back years now.
But Saints Chiefs, the Saints start on fire and people
are like, all right, the Saints for real, and then
the Saints have have been a little skid the last
two weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:47:11):
I'm gonna take Saints in an upset on this really.
I'll go ahead and tell you right now a preview
to our Pickham segment on Friday. Okay, I like the
Saints five and a half. There we go, four teams
on bye By the way, we've already reached that point
in the season. Detroit, Tennessee, Philadelphia, and the Los Angeles
Chargers all on a bye week.

Speaker 4 (01:47:28):
Yeah, bye weeks now. I hate that in college as well.
We'll dive into a little more tomorrow of Week six.
Eyes Hawkeyes this weekend in Columbus.

Speaker 3 (01:47:40):
Yeah, so it was like the season's officially starting or
done started.

Speaker 4 (01:47:42):
It was last week. Good football team stinks in conference.
They absolutely stink. I'm talking like cheeks galore. Oh, I
don't even know if that's a thing. Oh, let me
get Is that a cut right there? Cheeks galore? Yeah?
Cut it.

Speaker 3 (01:48:00):
By the way, yesterday was the deadline for the NFL
to flex Bengals Giants tooth out of Sunday Night football.
They did, keeping it flex it out. When you look
at zone yeah no, no flex zone there's no games
that was like really worthy of that. Maybe the Commanders
and the Ravens was one of them, but the I

(01:48:22):
mean the October thirteenth slate.

Speaker 13 (01:48:24):
Ugh.

Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
Yep, all right, here we go talk about it later,
we'll break, we'll come back. Well, we'll put a bow
on everything we have to do, and then we'll walk
theme in Moegar for the Eggwi Kits and locks in
the night right here on Sincy three sixty on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 22 (01:48:39):
This is Dan Horror joined Dave Lapham in me for
Bengals game Plan tonight starting at six on the official
home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:48:49):

(01:49:36):
Welcome back, since he three p sixty rolling along here
on a Wednesday afternoon, It's hump day. Hump Day they
call it, and a service of Penn Station just underway,
Tigers and astro So baseball is going to be on
the rest of the day, big, big baseball action. Awesome
to see baseball this time of the year. Just love

(01:49:57):
to be a part of playoff baseball. Someday we'd love
to one day be a part of it. But until then,
the last we just sit here and wish and hope
that we can someday be a part of that.

Speaker 3 (01:50:07):
You know, as crazy as it is, you know, I
think back on Pete Rose and all this awesome stuff
that has been shared about Pete and how great Pete
was and how much he loved baseball and would do
anything to win. And you know, the Reds posted this

(01:50:33):
tribute video to Pete. Yes, awesome video and it's really
really cool. And at the end of it, he says
that the baseball capital of the world. This is from
Pete's Reds Hall of Fame induction. I think it sounds like.

Speaker 14 (01:50:45):
This for me.

Speaker 21 (01:50:46):
I was diving for you, I was hitting for you.
I was trying to score runs for you. Baseball Capital
of the World is a queen.

Speaker 3 (01:51:00):
Okay, that's that's what it's supposed to be. Yes, like
Pete and the attitude that he had towards baseball in
this city, it's a shame that the organization has not
been able to live up to the moniker and the
play style and the type of player that is so
revered in this city, like Pete Rose was. Yeah, Pete

(01:51:23):
didn't come to a single Reds game this year. Yep,
what's that say? The dude used to be at the
ballpark all the time. Obviously obviously was getting older, clearly,
but like, what does that say? Right when I talk
about I said this earlier this year about you want
to uphold a standard to the people that have come

(01:51:44):
before you and the history that has come before you,
and the Reds are supposed to be one of those
historic franchises. They're supposed to be like the Yankees, and
they're supposed to be like the Red Sox, and they're
supposed to be like all these teams that were integral
in the popularity of baseball being America's pastime. And they

(01:52:06):
cry poor all the time now and they act like
they don't have the money to spend, and they've just
failed to build an organization that can make the generations
that have come before it proud. Yeah, and I feel
bad that that Pete Rose never got to see the
Reds return to prominence. Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (01:52:29):
With that, let's break, let's come back, and let's flip
it to Moegar because the Moeger Show is coming up.
It's in studio right here. After this, let ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 10 (01:52:39):
Thanks to Penn Station, the Bengals Wrestle with the Ravens.
Coverage starts Sunday morning at nine on ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Bengals.

Speaker 5 (01:52:48):
From the Any Weather Heating and Dar Tempsen.

Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
He sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station.
It's time for Since the three sixty quick hits on
esp in fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
Thirty, Welcome back it's a.

Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
You know, conversations that sometimes happen off air or why
I realized momently comes in here a couple days a
week during the football season. It's undelieted it. This is
sincey three sixty soon to be the Moeger Show. Here
in just a couple of minutes, and Moe is in
studio today and he's got a list of things in
front of him to tell me about what is coming
up on the show.

Speaker 3 (01:53:25):
We have a big show.

Speaker 4 (01:53:26):
Is it gonna be great?

Speaker 5 (01:53:27):
It's gonna be awesome. It's loaded.

Speaker 12 (01:53:30):
Has anybody ever been like, you know what, this show
is not that big today? Yeah, you don't have much
every day. It's a big show, yester kind of week.
It's a loaded show. Yeah, moy, we have so much
to get to today. I have really good news for
Bengals fans. Heard that really, really really good news for
Bengals fans.

Speaker 5 (01:53:47):
I'll tell you what it is.

Speaker 4 (01:53:48):
Perfect.

Speaker 12 (01:53:50):
I was thinking the three of us perhaps, and maybe
we'll rotate. We could offer to do the TV broadcast
of the Reds games next year. I love it because
I guarantee it'd be fun. I'm available. Yeah, we'll just
we'll set up like a tripod yep out there in
the bow tie bar and stream the game and we'll
do the broadcasting. Yeah, because the rads, I guess need

(01:54:13):
to find a place to put their TVs.

Speaker 3 (01:54:14):
And I we won't be as as expensive as what
they're gonna pay.

Speaker 8 (01:54:18):
Well.

Speaker 12 (01:54:18):
The problem now, though, is, uh, wait a minute, we're
not going to get that sixty million dollar check from BALI.
Oh oh yeah, now they're selling Yeah, so yeah about that.
But hey, they're going to pay two managers at once.

Speaker 16 (01:54:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:54:34):
Uh, Darren Horn is gonna be on the show. All right,
coach tomorrow night you can go meet the Norse and
get some ice cream.

Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
I saw that you speaking of college basketball. Yeah, the
event you see did last night looked awesome, really really cool.
And yeah, the fact that we're so close to the
start of the basketball season, cannot wait, cannot wait. We
talked a little bit in Lubbick about our excitement. We
are You and I are both die hard Bearcat fans,
and our love for Bearcat basketball is a unique one
because losses they seem to carry over more than just

(01:55:05):
you know, a couple hours after the game. But the
excitement around this season, at least what it could be
for the Bearcats.

Speaker 12 (01:55:11):
High I think it's a unique combination of excitement and pressure,
right because we all look at the team and feel
like it should be pretty good, but it kind of
has to be. I mean, if we're talking about the
Bearcats being on the outside looking in of the NCAA tournament,
and not just of the NCAA tournament, but of maybe
the second week out of the NCAA Tournament, I think
that's going to be a sort of interesting. It's a big,

(01:55:32):
big year. I can't wait for college basketball. Steve Cangelosi
is going to be on the show. Apple TV has
tonight's FC Cincinnati Tilt, will have Joe Burrow live and
our friend Richard Skinner at five twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:55:43):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (01:55:45):
What else do we have?

Speaker 5 (01:55:47):
I just told you everything on the show.

Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
What did you make of the first round of the
playoffs last night? Other than what we already talked about,
of just I'd like to feel that, I'd.

Speaker 12 (01:55:56):
Like to feel and know what that is. Yeah, here's
what I liked more than anything. All four games are
over by what about ten thirty? You could do that
in the postseason, so you don't have to stage these
games at nine o'clock.

Speaker 5 (01:56:07):
At night. No real major takeaway.

Speaker 12 (01:56:11):
I just I love the fact that today is day
two already we have elimination games already.

Speaker 3 (01:56:17):
So Austin asked me earlier, are you a fan of
the three game or should it be a five?

Speaker 30 (01:56:20):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:56:21):
I like the three game too.

Speaker 12 (01:56:23):
If you don't want to be in the three game,
win your division and have one of the best two
records in the league, put on Yeah, top records.

Speaker 5 (01:56:30):
First of all, the playoffs are long enough.

Speaker 12 (01:56:33):
Secondly, I don't think you want those teams that get
the top two seeds in each league having to spend
even more time not playing. I think the best of
three is perfect if we have to have six teams
per league, which I still think is stupid. But I
do like the fact that we have four elimination games today.

(01:56:53):
I think that creates instant drama, which is good and.

Speaker 4 (01:56:57):
An opportunity as well for positives and help on the
way for the Bengals defense. We know that McKinley Jackson
is coming back, Miles Murphy is coming back, and Trey
Hendrickson was in uniform today, which all huge steps forward
for a team that's gonna need all hands on deck
in the front.

Speaker 5 (01:57:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:57:15):
I want to talk about I'm gonna do this today.
The Bengals have had a really good defense in twenty
twenty one, and I think we are still living off
the fumes of that season. What happened in twenty twenty
one with that defense will happen no more.

Speaker 5 (01:57:31):
But you're right.

Speaker 12 (01:57:31):
I mean, for the purposes of slowing down Derek Henry
and Lamar Jackson, to have those guys available is important.

Speaker 4 (01:57:39):
Can they because normally I can find a way. Yeah,
I'm struggling to find the path that they slow down
Baltimore's offense.

Speaker 5 (01:57:46):
Stop it no, slow it down?

Speaker 4 (01:57:49):
Like, what do slow down Baltimore looks like?

Speaker 36 (01:57:51):
Here?

Speaker 12 (01:57:52):
Here's what it means to me, slow them down by
getting a stop early, playing from ahead, and finding a
way to turn them over when they do.

Speaker 4 (01:58:00):
I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (01:58:01):
I don't know how they slow down Derek Henry? Which title?

Speaker 12 (01:58:03):
Yesterday? You win the TOSSI take the ball? Yeah, to
play from ahead? I want to play from ahead. I
want to play from ahead and set the look. I
understand the math behind kicking. The best part of my
team is an offense that's cooking. Yeah, let's score seven
points early and try to set a little bit of
a tone. Now, all right, it might be a seven
to seven game five minutes after you score your first touchdown,

(01:58:25):
but like that's I think that's how they went on Sunday. Right,
they scored thirty five points and hope that Baltimore doesn't
score thirty six.

Speaker 4 (01:58:32):
It's also weird to this being the third home game
that the crowd, it feels like, hasn't been able to
get into a game. And I know they scored first
against Washington, but just that style, yeah, that Washington played
with and Zach you kind of alluded to the home
field advantage through the New England game in the Washington
game because how those games played out, Yeah, really wasn't
like yeah, like man, that atmosphere today.

Speaker 12 (01:58:52):
The New England game, after the first two drives, I
think we all knew, maybe not that they were going
to lose, but this was going to be a slog.
Now the Washington game, they scored on their first drive,
threw it deep to Jamar, and I felt like the
crowd was ready to go and just answer. As the
game went on, you thought, Okay, every time Washington gets
the ball, they're gonna score.

Speaker 5 (01:59:11):
So how are we going to figure out a way
to win this.

Speaker 12 (01:59:14):
I would uh, I would like to think that understanding
the importance of the game on Sunday, and also a
lot of fans who now will not be coming back
next year because the Bengals just increase their season ticket
fee again. Uh, those folks will show up on Sunday
ready to be raucous. Raucus will be at the Holy
Grail Sunday morning. I can't wait, me you and Brew

(01:59:35):
I can't wait.

Speaker 5 (01:59:36):
I can't either.

Speaker 12 (01:59:40):
Yeah, he's gonna call into the show. You know, Ken
never lets us talk to Lee. I know, and you
have notes to gambling with Lee and we have him
on every Sunday morning, and for whatever reason, Ken doesn't
let either one of us get a question in.

Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
Let's make some money. It's time for lots of the
Night present since his shirts the.

Speaker 17 (02:00:03):
Highway import Mitchell and always online at since his shirts
dot com.

Speaker 5 (02:00:07):
You know, now, let's make you some money.

Speaker 4 (02:00:09):
How you know?

Speaker 12 (02:00:09):
Baseball managers know they're not that important. Never watch any
of these postseason games. They just showed aj Hinch to
the Tigers. Now his team did win yesterday. Guy looks
like he's standing behind the rope at the Masters. He
does Guy looks like he doesn't have a care in
the world. You watch a football coach or a basketball coach,
especially during a postseason game, they look like they haven't slept.
They're yelling and screaming. They're stressed, they haven't shaved in weeks.

(02:00:33):
They're unkempt. Baseball managers know, you know what, I'm not
that important. I could just stand here, blow some bubbles,
maybe sneak some hoots into this Gatorade cup. Like you
watch these managers in the postseason like they they know, like,
look there he is aj Hinch, Like, yep, good view
the ball game here. Wonder if I get a hot
dog man? What am I gonna do after the game?
Hang out in Houston? Used to live here to get

(02:00:55):
some good tex mex guy broke his back.

Speaker 31 (02:00:58):
Yeah, I just you know.

Speaker 5 (02:01:00):
Baseball managers know they matter very very very little.

Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
A great guy has managed a lot of playoff baseball games.

Speaker 5 (02:01:06):
Yes, he knows only so much he can do.

Speaker 4 (02:01:08):
Speaking of playoff baseball, there's a reason the Brewers went
and got Frankie Montoss. It's for a game like this.
I like the Brewers to continue to toss. I like
the Brewers to force a game three.

Speaker 12 (02:01:17):
In this I don't shaw mine out ranks montoss an
e ra A, whip x cra XBA, average exit velocity,
strakeout rage, walk rate, barrel rate, and hard hit rate.
Mets close it out tonight. I've got the Orioles to
win the first five innings minus one fifty two and
let's go Francisco.

Speaker 5 (02:01:34):
Lindor over a base and a half.

Speaker 4 (02:01:36):
No I had I have a prop for you, Okay,
Ashton Gent that Boise State running back gent Gent?

Speaker 5 (02:01:42):
Is he related to Rashad for Bengal?

Speaker 4 (02:01:44):
Have you seen his over under?

Speaker 30 (02:01:46):
No?

Speaker 4 (02:01:47):
One ninety five and a half is his over under
of yards rushing against Utah State. That's how good he's
been this year. Minus five twenty to score two or
more touchdowns. Really unbelievable. I know one ninety five who
went on a date with Rashad jenty Really more about
that next on the Moegar Show.

Speaker 3 (02:02:07):
We're done.
