Speaker 1 (00:00):
Want you to put the word up here, we back up.
(00:03):
Understand me, We back up.
Speaker 2 (00:06):

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Good afternoon, Welcome in to the latest edition of Cincy
three sixty. Thank you for listening right here on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of our good
friends at Skyline Chile. Anytime you're feeling good and hungry,
it's Skyline Time. You can also listen in on the
iHeartRadio app. If you do so, leave us a talkback. Well,
(00:51):
we'll get to those. In our number two best talk
back of the Week, as voted on on Friday, we'll
win a Cincy Shirts gift card. We have a lot
to discuss over the next three hours. Joe Burrow is
scheduled to speak with members of the media at one
o'clock today that after Bengals Man Mandatory Mini Camp Day
(01:13):
one will wrap up. They are currently practicing right now.
We'll dive into who's there and who's not. Shamar Stewart
is not practicing. Trey Hendrickson is not at camp. He's
not the only defensive end in the AFC North not
at camp. TJ Watt is not at camp. The sac
leaders from a combined standpoint over the last two years
(01:34):
in the NFL, Trey Hendrickson is one. TJ Watt is two.
Neither at mandatory Mini camp. Terry McLaurin of the Washington
Commanders is not as well. Jalen Ramsey with the Minnesota
or the Miami Dolphins not at camp as well. But
we will, we'll dive into mandatory Mini camp. We'll talk
about Trey Hendrickson, We'll hear what Joe Burrow has to say,
(01:54):
and we'll recap all of that with Joe Danoman from
Fox nineteen, who will join us at two o'clock this afternoon.
We also have to talk about the celebration that now
needs to be played Austin. The winners of the Ohio
Cup are the Cincinnati Reds. They didn't need five games,
(02:16):
they didn't need six, They simply just needed four. They
continue the dominance over the Cleveland Guardians. They win it
last night behind a I can't believe I'm saying this
beyond a good start from Wade Miley. I said today,
I said yesterday that apologies would have to be had
(02:37):
if Wade Miley proved us wrong, and Austin yesterday, Wade
Miley proved us.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Wrong a little bit. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Ton the last time the Ohio Cup called Cincinnati home,
I still had hair.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Unbelievable. I was fresh out of high school. Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
The Reds had recently been in the playoffs and been
contenders in the playoffs. But now some years later, man,
it has returned to the City by the River, not
the City by the Lake. Welcome home and congrats to
the Reds oh Hio Cup champions.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I can't even imagine what the celebration was last night.
I didn't see any of it. I mean assuming imagine.
You think Terry Francona put the knicks on that They
probably rented out a club last night.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Oh you think so?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
No videos, no pictures. They still have clubs in Cleveland.
I'm sure they do a couple of outbacks out there
or something like that. That some of the nicer steakhouses
in Cleveland. Yeah, that's true. You know they did it
also in a way that you know, if you know
this team and you know how they're going to win,
then you know it's Jake Frayley and Will Benson. That's
(03:50):
really where you start and stop the conversation with the
Cincinnati Reds, and Jake Frayley and Will Benson played a
big part in that last night. We will recap last
night's win. We'll continue to celebrate the Ohio Cup. Let
us know what it means to you? Yeah, seriously, you know,
five one, three, seven, fifteen thirty, leave us a talk back.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
What does the Ohio Cup mean to you? Man?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
What does it mean that the Reds have won four
games in a row. What does it mean that while
winning four games in a row, the Cubs, the Cardinals,
and the Brewers have all lost two games in a row.
The Reds start today just six and a half back
in the NL Central. Why did they do this to us?
Every time? It just feels like they are just going
(04:31):
to roll over, And we talked about it last week.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
The schedule in June.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
They do something like this and they win four games
in a row and they just keep themselves somewhat relevant.
Now again, long way to go, but a game over
five hundred six and a half back in the central.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
They are.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
They're playing better baseball, they're hitting the ball a little
bit more consistently. They're still getting some good starting pitching.
And last night got Wade Miley his first win since
twenty twenty three. How about that first win since twenty
twenty three. Roh WADEO Wade Miley, wademeister, just coming off
(05:15):
the one year deal. Five innings, five hits, three comes
check out two. Let's go Wade.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
You know what I noticed last night as well? Waite
Miley works fast.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Oh yeah, he's always gets in and goes man from
the moment he got in the big leagues all those
years ago at Arizona, he's been one of those.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
He'll throw four straight balls and then about ten seconds
later throw the next pitch.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yep, just he's ready to go.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
I mean the pitch clock was nothing to old Wade
didn't have to worry about any of it. First win
in the big leagues in six hundred and twenty seven days.
Man last one was September twenty first, twenty twenty three,
when he pitched six innings of scoreless baseball against the
Saint Louis Cardinals as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.
(06:01):
Incredible serviceable, Wade Miley incredible.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
We'll dive into that.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
We'll get some Terry Francona audio, some Nick Crawl audio,
look ahead to What's next, recap everything from last night's game.
Some other news from the sports world. Sources say that
Colorado coach Dion Sanders has been ill and out of
the office recently, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.
It said that he's been at his estate in Texas, Texas,
(06:29):
dealing with a quote unspecified health issue, and a timetable
for his return is unknown now. Dion Sanders Junior, his
oldest son, was on YouTube from the Texas home Sunday
and said that his father was quote feeling well, said,
quote he'll tell you all soon enough what he's going through.
(06:51):
But what he went through when we get back to Bolder,
I don't know. I'm waiting until my dad leaves. When
he leaves, then I'll go. Until then I'm gonna sit
here with him. So not sure what's going on with
prime time, but we certainly wish him the best. Last night,
did you see it all the route that the Florida
Panthers put onto the Edmonton Oilers.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
I sure did.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Florida said, hey, remember that hockey stems from the US period,
hockey stems from Florida.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
I mean, really look at it. Over the last ten
or so years, the Panthers have been in three straight Cups.
They've won one, they're on the verge of a second.
And before that, there was what the little mini dynasty
that was the Tampa Bay Lightning right down there on
the other side of Florida. Yep, I mean, golly yeah.
Last night it was a Route six to one. There
(07:40):
were unbelievable brawls late in that game. I mean, Donnie Brooks,
fantastic stuff to see. But the Panthers take a two
to one lead.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
NBA Game three in Indy tomorrow, That is tomorrow night
in Indianapolis, NBA Finals Game three. Any other major sports stories,
Austin before we dive into really the nuts and bolts
of what's going on here in Cincinnati.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Uh, you know, to be honest with you, Tone, I
haven't looked much around the rest of the sports world
to know much of what's going on. I know the
US Open is getting set to get under way. I
saw a lot of posts yesterday the roff where you
would just drop a golf ball in the rough and
it would essentially disappear that it was unplayable.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yeah, so that's you know, we talked.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
I think we talked about this a little bit yesterday
Oakmont out there in Pennsylvania.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
But other than that, there was one thing I wrote down. Oh.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
There was also the Buffalo Bills. They made a signing.
Oh signed Shaq loss and good linebacker. His better days
probably behind him, but Buffalo put some depth on their defense.
Shout out as what a Denzel Clark. Yes, I was
going to use that for our player.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Work called one of the best home run robberies you'll
ever ever see. Tory Hunter, who had his share of
home on robber he said it was the best he's
ever seen.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Bar Yeah, and Tory had probably ten or fifteen that
could be qualifying as the best you've ever seen. You know,
my can I get off my lawn something here?
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Please?
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Can we figure out what we're doing with the camera.
The video of that, yeah, from the A's broadcast. Somebody
the director for some reason cuts to a close up
shot of Denzel Clark as he's jumping on the wall.
You don't really see the catch at all. Correct, We've
got to be better there, We've got to be better
(09:38):
on that. Would you say Denzel Clark's a generational talent?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I don't know. I don't know. We'll have to reach
out to the vice president for comment. Oh yeah, okay,
good to know.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Also, but apparently this dude, Denzel Clark the other day,
he's not been in the big leagues very long and
all he does is rob homers.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah, so that's fun, that's exciting.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Did you see Marcus Boogie Cousins almost go out of
fan last night?
Speaker 4 (10:03):
No, in this three on three thing? No, what's Boogie doing?
It was a it was a game in Puerto Rico.
Oh and DeMarcus Cousins essentially had to be restrained after
a fan threw drinks at him following his ejection.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
It was, well, it was.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
If you throw drinks on an athlete, they should be
allowed to fight you.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
He was so as he was as he was leaving
the court after getting dejected, he was making way to
the locker room, he momentarily went to grab a fan
who flipped.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Him the bird. Okay, well that's an issue.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
So then, well I'm sorry. He grabbed the a fan
that flipped him off. All right, fan flips off Boogie.
Then he can't do that, and then he flips off
the whole crowd. Boogie does yes, okay, and then drinks
and popcorn are just getting thrown all over.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Well, then he asked for it.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
He had to be held back police and security. He
was tackled at one point on the floor to prevent
him from going after fans.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
It was bonkers. Do you remember. I don't know if
i'd want to be Is it Puerto Rico or Barcelona?
I'm sorry Puerto Rico?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Okay? He's playing for for Barcelona. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Do you know anything about this story? I'm not even
gonna try to pronounce it. He plays for the come
onbo mets okay, g u A y n A b
o okay, And it was the Baloncesto Superior National game.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
So we're just gonna go with that. Why is why
is he playing for those guys? I don't know. When's
the last time Boogie played?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I don't know he's playing right now? Interesting, well, he
didn't play much. He got do you remember a couple
of years ago? It was probably ten years ago. Now
Ohio State, Michigan in Michigan. Yeah, and that big fight
in the offensive Lineman was double burden everybody on the
way out. And he's a he's a folk hero in
a state now because yeah, I mean that was I
believe that was my header on Twitter for quite some time.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
So yeah, that was pretty awesome. We have a poll
question today.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
We do poll question today, brought to you by Revive
Fitness Systems and coach PJ Street. Go check about Revivefitnessystems
dot com at PJ Street. Just vote on it. Which
is a bigger issue Trey Hendrickson not practicing or Schamar
Stuart not practicing. So far ninety percent say oh just updated.
(12:31):
Eighty four percent say Chamar Stewart not practicing is the
bigger issue. By the way, samments before we came on
the air today, Walter Nolan was signed. Yeah, the pick
right before Schamar Stewart in the NFL Draft. He was
signed by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this morning, right before
we came on the air.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Also, the bookend picks around Shamar Stewart have both been signed.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
The other sports thing I was going to say that
we missed, did you see Ocho Cinco recruiting Ronaldo to
FC Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
I didn't.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Yeah, okay, so you know Ronaldo, it seems like is
at the end of his career with his team in
Saudi Arabia, and some are wondering what's next for him.
He hasn't necessarily performed at the level many thought that
he would perform. He is getting older, much like Messi,
and that's when guys typically might head over to the
(13:28):
United States and play in Major League Soccer. But Ocho
Cinco said last night, come to the States at Cristiano
you will love FC Cincinnati. Oh but actually I see
now that Ronaldo says he is going to stay in
Saudi Arabia.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Come on, man, So all right, come on.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Sorry, I got everybody hyped up. But that's what happens
when I do a little bit journalism on the show,
come and find out he's not going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
All right, We're going to dive into the tray Headson
situation an Shamar Stewart. But when we get back, let's
talk about the Ohio Cup returning to its rightful place in.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Cincinnati, Ohio. Oh Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Next on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to
Skyline Chile.
Speaker 7 (14:14):
Hey Alexa, who's on the DL? Did he now the one?
Speaker 8 (14:19):
All Fish and Nolan Shaniwal left hand hitter, five ball,
left center, Denzel going back here in the track, hit
the track right.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
To the wall.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
They've been climbing the wall. Did he catch it?
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Hit dead?
Speaker 9 (14:31):
You can't believe what this kid is doing in center field.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
He got himself suspended on top of the wall and
brought it back. We're out number two.
Speaker 10 (14:43):
Every day is a highlight show.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
That is how it sounded last night. If you've not
seen it yet, it genuinely is one of the best
coaches I've ever seen. Absolutely crazy from Denzel Clark. Robbery
last night.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Robbery.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
That was the call from A's cast cast. I don't
know if the A's have a radio network right now,
but they're called A's ca' cast. Okay, you know, we
get through this at Major League Baseball Highlights, this file
share thing that we have, and it'll say, you know,
credit Seattle Sports seven to ten, credit k l a
(15:29):
A and the Angels radio network KMOX and the Cardinals
radio network six twenty WTMJ, all these different radio stations.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Then it'll say A's Cast. I like it. Yeah, I
like it a lot.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Also like when the Reds win four games in a row,
like they did with a win last night, seven to
four over the Cleveland Guardians. The red scoring came from
a second inning Jake Frayley's single, a third inning TJ
Friedel home run. TJ Friedle's getting to those high and
(16:05):
inside pitches extremely well. Oh yeah, he's been.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
He can turn on the ball, mashing anything inside all year.
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
The Guardian struck for three in the bottom of the third,
and then Jake Fraley with a home run to right
center and the fourth tied things up. I was getting ready, Austin.
I had my hands on the trigger because the Reds
put runners on first and third in the fifth, no
outs and Ellie strikes out, and I'm thinking, here we
(16:33):
go again. Situational baseball, and credit to Cees got the
ball deep enough on a sack fly to left field
with one out, which scored TJ.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Friedle.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Gavin Lux added an RBI in the sixth. Will Benson,
who was crushing the ball last night, hit a line
drive to center in the seventh, and then our good
friend Connor Joe Major World Series MVP had an RBI
double in the ninth inning.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
About Franza pinch hitting Connor Joe for Jake Frayley, who
had been that good all night three hits, didn't want
him face in a lefty yep and bank Connor Joe,
who has killed killed the Guardians in his career, did
it again last night?
Speaker 1 (17:17):
How about sixteen hits last night for the Reds. Yeah,
no kidding, multi hit game.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
TJ Friedel, Gavin lux Elie De la Cruz and Will
Benson all had two hits. Jake Frayley had three, adding
Connor Joe, Santiago, Espinal, Spencer, Steer, Tyler Stevenson and Cees.
That is sixteen hits. The only Austin Red in the
starting lineup yesterday without.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
A hit was that would be Matthias McLain. Matt McClain,
you know, zero for five with two strikes yesterday. I
kind of talked about how I'm cool on Will Benson
and Jake Frayley, but how Matt McClain was making progress.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Can you say something bad about Matt McClain. Can you
say something about him? What kind of hiss of death?
Am my good Lord? Say something about him? Matt McLean's
not very good there you go. Oh take them out. McClean.
Props to me.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I was gonna say it's Dinger Tuesday for some sports
fooks day.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Wade Miley again. Five innings, three urn runs, four walks,
two strikeouts. Ian Jabou, Graham Ashcraft, Tony Santian and Emilio
Pagan cleaned up the final four innings. Graham Ashcraft did
walk two batters and allow a hit. He was not
great last night.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Graham Ashcraft does what Graham Gashcraft always does, which just
makes it a lot harder on himself than he has
to be because he cannot consistently throw strikes. Yep, we've
seen enough Graham Ashcraft appearances. Every once in a while
he looks unhittable. He looks like the next coming of
Mariano Rivera, and other times he looks like he's never
been on a big league mound before. It's actually impressive
(18:55):
how often he can't consistently throw strikes. I want to
like Graham Ashcraft's so bad, like I really do, and
and he didn't cost them the game last night by
any stretch, but he is just it's uncomfortable watching him pitch.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
It's it's rough to watch him pitch, and in a
setting like last night, it might not be as prevalent
because at the time, you know, you're you're holding on
to a lead. But at the same time, can you
can you rely on him in a high leverage situation
right now?
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Ashcraft?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah, up one run or a tie game where you
need a hold.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I don't know. I just don't know if you can
rely on that right now.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
See, I almost feel more comfortable going to him in
those moments because he's so juiced up, and that seems
like to be something that works for him, like you know,
coming into those moments and like you know, the adrenaline
pumpin that it almost feels like he's better in those situations.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I'd have to check the stats to see if that's true,
But I don't ever really trust the guy.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah to be it's it's it's tough. Let's grab some
some Terry francon Audio in just a second. Obviously, the
Reds duke clinch the the Ohio Cup two games left
in this series against the Guardians. Tonight's Game six, p
forty start is going to see Andrew Abbott and the
(20:27):
mound for the Cincinnati Reds. He was great, great through
the month of May, got roughed up a little bit
in his first start in June, but Andrew Abbott looks
to get back to uh to his winning ways for
the Cincinnati Reds. I believe he's going up against Slade
sasani yeh Slade. His name is Slade.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Yes, I don't have to look at the official pronunciation
of his last name, four eight I thought it was.
I thought it was secone, four eight to seventy. Alright,
I think that's a guy the Red should go after.
If his last name is Conyeah, you know what I mean.
Hopefully they get after a night's right handed pitcher gives
them a chance. So Slade middle name cheese, Yes, dude, yes, geez.
(21:12):
Did you see let's go with Secona even if it's not.
Did you see she's secone? Did you see John Sadak
in what I believe was a nod to cint three
sixty the other I didn't. He called Jim Day Jim beautiful,
oh wow. After they had that like real short rain
delay wow. And then this guy's clean man. I like that.
(21:35):
That had to be a nod to us. I'm just
gonna I'm just gonna believe it was. Yeah, we'll take that. Uh,
do we have some Tito from last night's postgame? This
is after again, this is for context. This is after
this team just clinched the Ohio Cup this.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Season against your former ball club.
Speaker 11 (21:49):
What are you telling your guys before these games those?
Speaker 12 (21:54):
We just do the same thing every day. I mean,
we just try to win the game we're playing. I
do think if you do it well enough, then people
start asking questions like that, which is okay, But it
just felt God. I thought we played a really good
game to night, really crisp good game.
Speaker 7 (22:10):
I thought Miley gave us, you know, what we needed.
Speaker 12 (22:15):
And having him out there, I don't know, it felt
like he gave everybody a lyft. I mean, he's energetic,
and he's you know, I know he's old, but he's
energetic and he competes, and I just think there was
there was a good energy in a dugout.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
What does it mean to you, if anything, to get
a win in your return here to Progressive feel you don't.
Speaker 12 (22:35):
I had a really good time here. I mean people
were so nice to me. But I'm here now and
I love being here. I just really wanted us to win,
and it doesn't take away from how I feel about
a lot of people over there.
Speaker 13 (22:49):
You guys have been looking for momentum, like sustained momentum
munch of the season.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
Do you feel like you're kind of on your way
to that?
Speaker 12 (22:55):
Have especially? I would never say yes, because a minute
and I'd do more.
Speaker 6 (22:59):
You know.
Speaker 12 (23:00):
That's why, like I was saying, I just think now
we'll try to play good tomorrow because if you do
that enough, then I think momentum does happen. And you know,
you put yourself on a where you have a chance
to win every night, you know, and you're not gonna,
but just give yourself a chance.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Miley is more or less this going forward. Every time you.
Speaker 12 (23:23):
Take that take, I think, being fair to him, I
think he has a chance to be better because he
hasn't pitched, you know, in his rehab got it was
all over the map, you know, rain and you got
taken out one inning. So he's shaking off some rust.
But he can pitch. I mean, he competes, and I
(23:47):
don't know about coming first. He looks a little bit
like me run over there, but he's pretty good man.
He's I'm telling you, he competes. There's a reason he's
still pitching.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
All right.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
First of all that and I felt like I was
at a Cleveland nightclub with that music, Dunk dunk dunk.
Had they cut it short? It was getting louder, unbelievable.
I love he called Wade Miley old and he looked
like me runn into first. Yep, wasn't his best moment
of the night. That was funny, but uh, it's like
(24:21):
a little bit, a little bit looser Terry Francona after
some of those wins. Yeah, uh, putting four of them together,
an opportunity to go for five straight wins tonight, and uh,
I guess another not meaningless. But now with the Ohio
Cup's been settled, you got to imagine a weight's been
lifted as well.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Yeah, I mean, now that that is off their shoulders,
they can kind of just get back to you know.
Terry Francona likes to say showing up to the ballpark
trying to win that day, about trying to play better
that day. Uh so, yeah, I mean, without a doubt,
the four game winning streak for the Reds tied for
these second longest in baseball.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
The same fan Francisco Giants have won five and tied
it for Austin with the Cincinnati Reds. The Pittsburgh Pirates
have won four games in a row.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
How about that? How about that the Reds have picked
up some ground because Saint Louis, Chicago, and Milwaukee have
all lost two games in a row while the Reds
and Pirates have won four in a row. Now, the
Reds still have a comfortable distance between themselves in Pittsburgh.
But not only that, San Diego lost late last night
(25:28):
against the Dodgers as well. So the Reds are just
four games out of the wild card and what is it,
six games back still in the Chicago Cubs. So either way,
they've made up some ground in a part of the
schedule where you weren't sure if they were going to
do that.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
That's good. It is interesting.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
There was an article Bred Doolittle for ESPN put this
out today about what all thirty teams must do before
the trade deadline, and the Reds were kind of bunched
up in this category of teams that are on the
fringe of the playoff outlook but not yet certain to
unload at the deadline. And it says of the Reds
and I know Mo would love this as well.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Austin. It says, who has the fifth best Pythagorean theorem
winning percentage in baseball? Who's that? The Reds? Oh? Really?
Speaker 3 (26:13):
So despite the plus run differential, they have hovered around
five hundred, says Doolittle. For the Reds, the deadline questions
center on how real the run differential might or might
not be, because a team that wins at five to
sixty one clip over the ninety six games remaining would
land the Reds in the eighty six to eighty seven
(26:34):
win range. The current sixth seed in the National League,
which is Philadelphia, is currently on pace to win ninety two,
So there lies the dilemma. The Reds record should be better,
but it's not, and the landscape in the National League
is so rugged that the Reds will have to use
the next few weeks to clarify what their position really is.
(26:54):
So again, Pittagorant theorem, run differential, what the team should
be doing? The record should be better than it's not.
But all in all, if you're looking at the sixth seed,
the Phillies are on pace to win ninety two. Can
this team who's on pace eighty six eighty seven? Can
(27:17):
you find six more wins somewhere.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
You know, mog made a good point during his show yesterday,
which is, you know, not an uncommon OCCURRENCEY makes a
lot of good points that it was around this time
in twenty twenty three where the ball club got hot
and catapulted themselves into contention for the rest of the summer.
You may remember that twelve game win streak. Oh I do.
(27:41):
Do you know when that happened? Right around this time
in the month of June. Okay, So I'm just saying
I'm not saying I'm just saying I like this.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
You know what I'm saying. Yeah, I got you, I
got it.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Phone lines open five one, three, seven, four nine, fifteen thirty.
One other piece of Reds business that I want to
get to before we switch gears. And that is what
Nick Kral had to say say before the game yesterday.
As it pertains to Chase Burns, we'll do that. We'll
take some phone calls five one, three, seven, four nine,
fifteen thirty as we go. Since he three sixty thanks
to Skyline Chile on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati sports station.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Loweger, We've talked about this a lot. He's got what
you want, like, who's the go to guy gonna be.
Speaker 14 (28:19):
The interviews, his views and your calls.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Go to guy isn't the team's leading.
Speaker 14 (28:24):
School Lowegar today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
All right, we're getting to that point now where you're
gonna start feeling the early summer heat along with those
dangerous storms, which both equate to major stressed for your
roof and siding. Whether it's high winds, spring debris that
may have caused damage if you can't see from the ground,
or maybe you notice fading or buckled siding or gutters
overflowing or pulling away. If that's the case, reach out

together and take fifteen percent off the total Chi Roofing.

Speaker 7 (29:28):
Myheartradio Earth is here.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Welcome back since E three to sixty hour one. You're
listening on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thank you
to our friends at Skyline Chili. Anytime you're feeling good
and hungry, it is Skyline time. Let's do this here
because we were through most of what we have on
the Cincinnati Reds, but leading into the game last night,
(29:51):
Austin Nick Crawl did speak a little bit.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
I want to clarify I told you wrong earlier. This
is from before Sunday's game, so it was before it
was official that he was getting called up. Yes, but
Jim Day did ask Nick Crawl about Chase Burns prior
to Sunday's game.
Speaker 11 (30:10):
I've asked you about Chase Burns several times in this spot.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
And you can't ignore it. How dominant he's been at
double A.
Speaker 8 (30:18):
Could we see a move perhaps soon to triple A?
And two fold question, would you not rule out him
being on the big club at some point this season.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
Yeah, I'm not going to rule out anything with him.
Speaker 15 (30:31):
You know, he obviously we started him in a ball
let's get your feet underneath you. You dominated there. You
went to Double A. He's been even better in Double A.
He's been great. He was our pitcher of the Month
last month. You know, I think that hopefully he continues
to grow and he's continued to learn. And I think,
you know, one of the things that he is learning
is the nuances of the game. I think that's where
you know, people don't understand that as much. Yeah, he's pitched,
(30:53):
he's had success, but having you know, being able to
pitch in a five day rotation, you know, it only
happens once every few times in in uh, in the
minor leagues because you've got the off day every Monday.
He's learning to do that. That's that's a that is
a big difference from college. You know, being able to
pitch and have a routine, you know, a routine that
works for him, and setting up that routine. These are
(31:15):
all little things that that every pitcher coming in needs
to learn and and and needs to figure out.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
Uh.
Speaker 15 (31:20):
You know, you watched a guy like Paul Skeens do
it with Pittsburgh last year. And and you know, obviously he's
been dominant, so it's making sure that he can learn
and continue to grow. And and he's he eighty pitches
yesterday and seven innings and just you know, complete games,
complete seven inning game, and you know, just dominant. He's
been really good. He's been very coachable, he's been a
(31:41):
great guy, and he's continued to learn. So hopefully we'll
see him continue to progress and uh, we'll see what
happens as we move forward, all.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Right, So that I feel like Austin is a different
tone than the Nick Krawl message on Chase Burns we
heard last week. I agree, And again, maybe some of
that was because of you know where the tray or
where the Hunter Green injury stands and not knowing what
you can consistently get out of wayde Miley and I
(32:09):
think probably something goes into that as well. But it
does feel like a little bit different of a tune
that you're hearing with the Reds as it pertains to
Chase Burns. As long as he keeps producing at that
level as well, I think it'd be hard to continue
to ignore just how good he can.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Be Yeah, And you know, the big thing being that
he's not ruling out the idea of Chase Burns eventually
being on the big league club, especially because the injuries
that they currently have, and if he gets to Louisville
and does what they expect him to do, it's not
gonna I don't think he's going to be here in July.
I would assume it would be an August acquisition. They
want to give him as many starts as they can
(32:46):
down there and have him work on specific stuff. But
the fact that the Reds are at least open to it,
I think is a good sign from Nick Krawl.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
I skipped at the start one of the coolest stories
going on right now baseball. Did you see what Murray
State did last night?
Speaker 4 (33:02):
I know that they took a lead late over Duke,
but honestly, I don't know what happened after that or
off to Omaha.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Really they won, They beat Duke, And I saw this
story on on social media last night. Their stadium down
in Kentucky holds just under a thousand people.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
They're head coach Dan Skirka literally cuts Dan the former
Bengals linebacker.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Yeah, he cuts the grass at the stadium. That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Now he won't be arobably be cutting grass much longer
because he'll probably get a different job here soon. But
a really cool story with Murray State making it to
Omaha as well.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Yeah, that's neat.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Let's take this as our last break of our number
one because when we get back, let's switch gears a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
When's the last time you thought about Dan Scooter? When
I was reading that name, Dan Scooter could play now,
Oh he fill he could fill it, he could fill
an a gap.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Come on.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
When I was growing up, I owned to be like
Dan Scooter. Really, I was number was too. So when
I was a young linebacker in the Pickwe Youth Football Association,
I wore number fifty one because I wanted to be
like Odell Thurman. Yeah, and then I found out Odell
Thurman had some problems, So then I wanted to be
like Dan Scuta.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
There you go, dude could play. His brother Skirka is
cutting the grass down there from Murray State going to
own name skarkak Skirk Bengals Dan Scuota.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Mandatory mini camp. Let's talk about that when we get back.

Welcome back since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station, a service of Skyline Chile Mandatory Mini Camp Underway.
I saw Charlie Goldsmith tweeted earlier Austin the Burrow hit
Jermaine Burton over the middle that reminded him of CJ.
Isuzama versus the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Oh, that may be the most accurate pass that Burrow
has ever in his life.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Incredible, we're getting that level of Burrow to Burton right now,
Day one a mandatory Mini camp.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
You know, you see who else was at Mini Caamp today, TJ.
TJ Huschmann Zada. Yeah, the long term, longtime mentor of
one Jermaine Burton's right. So that seems to be good
news that TJ is there. I love TJ yep, one
of the all time favorite Bengals.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
It is.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
It's a positive to hear the good things happening at
mandatory Mini camp.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Now.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Shamar Stewart is there, he's just not practicing. BJ Hill
is still not practicing. Uh but obviously there's a.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Few guys that are still not practicing right as they
come off of injuries. Bj Hill one of them, Dax
Hill one of them, and Lucas Patrick it appears, was
a little bit banged up today. So you know what
that means. The starting guards right now, Cordell Volson and
Cody Ford. Yes, sir, Hello, Dakery deck yep for Austin
(37:39):
and just bring out two.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Let's belly up. Obviously.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
The news outside of Joe Burrow speaking today is that
of Trey Hendrickson is not at mandatory Mini camp for
the Cincinnati Bengals, which means Trey Hendrickson will be fined.
That was made very clear. Uh too Trey Hendrickson leading
up to mandatory mini camp. Now, what I think is
(38:06):
interesting Austin This from Diana Russini earlier today, Trey Hendrickson
will not attend Bengals mini camp. Cincinnati reached out to
Hendrickson's camp yesterday, but there was no movement towards a
neal new deal for the all pro. So that in itself,
(38:27):
let's focus on that for a second. Moves were made.
Jermaine Pratt was let go. The Bengals have the money
if they wanted to do something. But as Diana Russini
reported and Tom Pellisero also reported, that the Bengals and
(38:49):
Trey Hendrickson have made no progress on a multi year
contract extension. He's not expected to report from mini camp.
So reached out to Hendrickson's camp and the phrase no
progress we're both used today. What do you make of
that as it relates to Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Not surprised at all.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Yeah, Bengals are probably like, hey man, just a reminder,
mandatory mini camps tomorrow. We'll find you if you're not here,
And we still offered you a deal that we think
is fair. Yeah, that I would almost guarantee. That's how
the conversation went.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
So at that point, do you think any any numbers
were talked about in reaching out to Trey Hendrickson's camp.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
I would guess no, Yeah, yeah, I would guess no.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
So as like you mentioned, the Bengals have the money
and the flexibility. If they wanted to give him that
top flight money talking thirty three million plus per year,
they could do that, but they don't want to, right
And on top of that, I don't know that Trey
(40:01):
really wants that type of money. I think his situation is,
if you're only going to give me a short term deal,
a one year extension, then make it an extension that
makes me competitive with those guys. But if it's a
two year extension, I'm willing to come down on the
price to thirty million dollars for example. That's my guess
(40:22):
on the disconnect, and the Bengals are like, we're not
interested in doing business with you future in the future,
past next season. So here's a one year offer.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Let me let me go to something that I saw
John Sharon, friend of the show, tweeted about today. He said,
it's never been about the availability of money. It's always
about the evaluation obviously the age of Trey Hendrickson. But
he asked a question today and I find it interesting
he posed this Austin as it pertains to both Trey
(40:55):
Hendrickson and TJ.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Watt.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
He said, let's say both teams were to get give
in to the demands and both players were to fall
off a cliff. Who's actually mad? He said, both teams
are incredibly cap healthy in the next few years. Neither
worst case scenario would prohibit them in any meaningful way
based on how they already operate.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
That that's the best argument for giving him a deal
without a doubt, is because the way the Bengals have
managed their cap they are in a position to be
able to take some risks. So John is correct, like
that is the best argument for giving him thirty plus
million over the course of a couple of seasons and.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Looking at with that doubt.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Yeah, let's say he falls off the cliff completely and
he's terrible next year.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
And I don't think it's it's unrealistic to say that
Shamar Stewart could be really good, Miles Murphy could be
really good, and those two could be here for a
little bit longer, the Bengals will have some control over
those contract situations and be relatively affordable for the organization.
(42:07):
Let's say that they're really good and those guys become
the top pass rushers, Trey could still be situationally a
pass rusher at worst. Correct, And we've already talked about
Golden wanting to move Shamar Stewart around and put him
on the inside in some of those pass rush situations.
So at worst, Trey is a situational pass rusher, and
(42:30):
you still like the odds there because of how good
he's shown he can be in some of those moments.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
Yeah, that from John, like you said, that's the best
argument I think you can have against it.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
That's that's absolutely right.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
If it didn't pan out, you're still it's not like
you're you're so handcuffed that you can't do anything else
going forward.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
So again, maybe if you're Trey Hendrickson's camp, that's the
side of things that you're leaning on of saying, Okay,
they're going to come around eventually, be because the risk
outweighs everything else for the Bengals, The risk of not
having him there in this Super Bowl window, that that
outweighs anything else they could be going for. That would
(43:14):
be what I was trying to hold on. If I'm
the camp of Trey Hendrickson. Now, you know, going back
to our poll question today, you know, is it more
detrimental not having Trey there or Chamar there? It's both.
But Chamar, like Trey, has at least proven he can
do it in the NFL, Chamar hasn't yet. Yeah, And
(43:34):
even the questions around Chamar when he got drafted and
now not seeing him, those are meaningful reps he's missing.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
Even though you know many camp reps ultimately are not
the biggest deal in the grand scheme of things, I
still think Shamar Stewart not getting them is the bigger issue,
and that's how I vote. And right now, eighty three
percent on the revived fit Systems dot Com poll question agree,
saying the bigger issue is Shamar Stewart not practicing.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Yeah, yeah, And again it's like you look back and
you could say, well, it's only a three day mini camp.
What's the emphasis of this offseason? Making the most of
these mini camp days? Starting fast, starting fast, changing the
way the approach the off season, the intensity, Well, that
takes a hit every day that you're not at your
(44:25):
max capability.
Speaker 18 (44:26):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
If Hendrickson does not show up at all, he's going
to be subject over one hundred thousand dollars in fines
over the next couple days. When we return, when Joe
Burrow starts talking, as long as we can bring that

(45:36):
News Austin, Columbus, Ohio's The Spot all Right, kicking off
College Game Day with a trip to Texas, Ohio State
celebrating League Corso's final show. Let's go code back where
he made headgear history First's right? How about that? And
how about this? On this date in nineteen forty four,
(46:00):
all debuted for the Reds. Joe youngest player in MLB history.
He was fifteen years old on this date in nineteen
forty four when he debuted for the Reds.
Speaker 4 (46:10):
It didn't go well for Joe that day. He struggled
a little bit. No, but he came back what years
later after he made that one appearance and then was
gone for a little while, but came back.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
He got back to work, He got back to what
he needed to be.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Back in the lab. Man, I missed Joe knucksll me too.
What do we make also of? Is there anything to
look into with Hunter Green? Going to get a second opinion?
Read into that too much?
Speaker 4 (46:43):
No, I just think he's just getting as much information
as he can. Yeah, just he also.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
May not fully trust the Reds, which I don't blame
him for.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yeah, I just have this unfortunate feeling like it's going
to be like we said yesterday while for a Hunter Green.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
Yeah, I mean I think there's a real possibility that's
the case.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
There was one other stat about the Reds as we
wait on Joe Burrow that I wanted to ask, and
I saw it was actually Bryce Spaulding on X last
night that brought this up as well. But Ellie got
on base and I was craving ice cream last night,
so I was trying to make bets in my house
(47:25):
that you know, hey, if Ellie steals a base here,
I'm gonna go get ice cream. Just really at this point,
trying to do anything to go get some ice cream
on an air on a Monday night. And he didn't
even think about running, didn't even have a big lead off,
And it got me wondering because I know he's still
got nineteen stolen bases up to this point. Bryce Spaulding
(47:46):
tweeted last night he was confused that Ellie seemingly doesn't
run as much anymore. At this point. Last year he
was at thirty four stolen bases. He's at nineteen this year.
Do you make anything of fifty team less stolen bases?
If he is getting on base at a little bit
better rate, or do you contribute that to maybe that's
(48:07):
just this coaching staff and how they want to handle
the base pass.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
I've said from the very beginning of the year, I
think Ellie is hurt and I don't think he's one
hundred percent and I think that's a big part of it. Again,
his sprint speed in air quotes here is only twenty
eight point nine. That is the ninetieth percentile of Major
League Baseball. His first two seasons he was in he
was ninety ninth percentile. He was much faster. He has
(48:33):
not at any point this year reached that level of speed.
So I don't think he's one hundred percent healthy. We
know Terry Francona said that he was dealing with a
leg earlier this year. That coupled with the general strategy
(48:53):
employed by Terry Francona, means less stolen base attempts.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
Yeah, it's just unique to watch. Finally, how about this,
Austin Kelsey Conway talked about Shamar Stewart in a tweet
earlier today. Bengals didn't get Shamar Stewart in a contract
to say him, Therefore, the rookie won't practice.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Pat McAfee weighed in on it. Oh good, he said.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
Can't get a seventeenth pick in the draft signed laughing emoji,
laughing emoji agent must be a super genius. How long
does the Shamar Stewart stuff last from a local standpoint
before we just get fed up with it?
Speaker 1 (49:38):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (49:39):
I mean at this point there's still a long Moms
didn't sign until July twenty second, So I mean I said,
at this point, there's a long time till.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
The offseason, and I don't care what Pat mcafieh is
so clueless when it comes to like the basics. He
just says stuff to get people riled up and laughing.
He oftentimes doesn't know what he's talking about. So I mean,
I really don't see it as a big issue.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
Then why have then why have mandatory mini camps? If
the reps don't matter and they're not a big issue,
why have them?
Speaker 4 (50:10):
I'm saying I don't think the negotiations are a big
issue at the moment.
Speaker 3 (50:14):
No, But I'm saying that you said in the grand
scheme of things, I think you tweeted out today in
the Grand Scheme of Things a couple of days.
Speaker 4 (50:20):
I think, yeah, yeah, it probably doesn't mean all that
much when you are wearing helmets and kind of going
through some drills, but not you know, not going through
the stuff that you do like on a weekly basis,
or like the physicality that you.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
Go through in training camp. Then why have them?
Speaker 4 (50:38):
I don't know's it's a question for the Players Association
in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
Why not me? After a day you would know? Do
you tell me what is important?
Speaker 3 (50:50):
I think from a scheme standpoint, from a playbook standpoint,
from live reps on the field, from seven on seven
to one on ones, I think they're all important. I
think I think it's more meaningful for young players because
you know, from a scheduling standpoint, for a young player,
you go from your college season, and most of those
college season ends with a bowl game or a run
(51:12):
in the playoff, and then you go right into to
combine and draft prep, and then you go to Pro
day prep, and then there's the draft, and then there's
rookie mini camp, and then all of a sudden you're
in mini camp and a month later you're in the
training camp mode. It just comes really fast. And I've
always thought that from personally my time in college and
(51:36):
my time in the NFL. The more reps you get,
the more comfortable are because the more the game slows down.
And I think for a brand new system, yes, it's
important that Trey gets to to get into that because
of the things I mentioned with you know, where you're
lining up, what you're being asked to do, stunts, dropping
into coverage, everything you know that you need to do
(51:59):
is different. But Trey has done a lot of that before.
It'll just be terminology and different. Ask Shamar Stewart, this
is brand new, and the game when you come into
something and mentally you're not there yet, is so much
faster than what you're used to. If for a guy
who didn't produce as much at the college level and
had questions coming in, the longer you push this off,
(52:23):
the longer that growth period then seeps into the training
camp and the preseason in regular season. That's why I
think for Schamar it's more vital because this is the
time you want to get those kinks out.
Speaker 4 (52:38):
Yeah, to be clear, my tweet was referring to Trey
Henderson and if he's not going to be here, I'm
glad younger players like Osai and Murphy are getting those reps,
even though they may not be the most important reps
they'll get between now and the start of the season.
Those most important reps to me will come in training
camp and in the preseason against people live, full pads,
(53:01):
that sort of stuff. I do think it's beneficial for
Shamar Stewart because of everything you just outlined, and because
he's a young player that's going through this for the
first time, it's it's more of an issue. I just
don't think that being worried. I don't think that the
negotiations between him and the Bengals are that big of
a deal right now. And I've said this before, and
(53:22):
I know I'm gonna get called a homer, but this
is a Shamar Stewart issue more than it's a Bengals issue.
Like this is not uncommon language to be used in
a contract. The Eagles have done this before, the Browns
did this with Miles Garrett, and it's all stuff that
is controlled by Shamar Stewart. Now, if Shamar wanted to,
(53:45):
he could sign an injury waiver and be out there,
but he's not.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
That's on him.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
So you know, when you have people like Pat McAfee
who just laugh it off and essentially blame it on
the Bengals when you don't understand that the full story,
which is very common with Pat.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
He's also surface level on a lot of things.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
I think it can turn the the perception around to
that the Bengals are being cheap and don't know what
they're doing and are trying to you know, screw this.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
But I first round, But I thought it was a
Bengals thing that they've changed the language of how they.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Get It's not something the Bengals have done a lot
in recent years. That it's relatively new for them, but
not new across the league.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
And Shamar Stance is saying that whatever the previous guys wanted,
that's what I want. Sure, I get that, But why
does he get to call the shots?
Speaker 3 (54:44):
Well, I mean, in today's world, the players have more
power than they have in the past. That's why he
feels like he can.
Speaker 4 (54:48):
Sure, But again, if we're talking about if we're talking
about defaults, which is apparently what this is all about,
that's suspensions, failed drug tests, rest speaking ill of the
organization in public getting in trouble in some way, shape
or form. That's all stuff controlled by the player.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
Yeah, I just so like in the end, it's hurting him,
but it's also in the bigger picture hurting this defense
who doesn't have Trey Hendrickson right now, doesn't have Sam
Hubbard anymore because you retired. It's it's hurting the unit
as a whole. It's hurting his growth because I think
Jermaine Burton last year it's a hard example to make,
but we've seen in year two and Jermaine Burton had
(55:33):
had to hit rock bottom. But I've seen a lot
of videos today about Jermaine Burton making plays with the
starters today, yeah, and doing a lot of things that
are positive. Well, I think that's because he's had more
reps at it, and obviously he had a understanding where
it was time to grow up. But a lot of
that You can make a jump from year one of
year two with the more reps you get and the
(55:54):
longer Shamar Stewart goes on like this, the more you
worry about how many reps he's missing for a team
that can't afford on the defensive side of the ball
to start off extremely slow.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
Jermaine Burton's a good example. Jermaine Burton is what the
Bengals are trying to protect themselves from you know what
I mean, a player who gets himself in trouble and
very easily could not be on the team right now,
and because of his stupid decisions, the Bengals are trying
to prevent him from or prevent having to pay money
(56:24):
to a guy who screwed up. If iHeart came to
you right now and offered you a contract extension with
more money than you've ever made in your life, and
they said, here's the thing. You can't get arrested. You
can't fail a drug telself. Yeah, it's it's pretty simple.
Worry you if Shamar won't bet on himself. Yeah, that's
what I'm confused about. How is this so difficult for you?
Speaker 12 (56:48):
Right?
Speaker 4 (56:48):
If the reports are true that that's what this is about,
and it's defaulting on certain years, I can understand where
they're saying, Okay, well if it defaults the year that
it happens, but not the future years. The Bengals are
basically saying this is a no nonsense policy, zero tolerance
policy for screwing up, which I don't think that's a
bad thing given their history and how they have to
(57:12):
really hit on some of these draft picks to make
that a thing. You want to avoid Jermaine Burtons. You
want to avoid guys that are distracted or not focused
on football because you want to tie their money directly
to that because you need them to produce, and you're
going to be more willing to take risks like Jermaine Burton,
(57:33):
like Shamar Stewart because you need to hit on them
in the Borough era, and so with that comes a
much steeper slope on the other side of like, hey, listen,
your money is directly tied to how you handle yourself
off the field. That's and if you focus on and
don't get in trouble off the field, you're good because
(57:54):
this money's all going to be guaranteed anyways, it's all slotted.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
It's I don't don't quite get it.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
Yeah, That's That's where I'm struggling to find the rationalization.
Are you worried about yourself off the field? Are you
worried about your character?
Speaker 4 (58:08):
And then on top of it an injury waiver that
you could sign and still protects you so you get
all that money. You're not signing, right, Demetrious Knight did
he's not signed, he's practicing. Why can't you. Yeah, it is,
What do you worry about if the reps are that
(58:29):
important to you? I mean, to me, it seems like
Chamar seems like a guy who's just doing what he's
told by his agent. And I'm not trying to turn
this into attacking Schamar Stewart because I don't know the
guy and certainly he's not been here long enough for
us to get any understanding on his personality. But he
kind of this just strikes me as him doing what
his agent's telling him to do.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
And I understand that.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
It's just a Again, it's it's the sum of everything
that leads to concern. It's the of a veteran like
Sam Hubbard not being around. It's the sum of Trey
Hendrickson not being around. Your rookie, first round draft pick
at defensive end. Not being around all of those things
(59:14):
on a defense that's stunk last year is not ideal
for a first year defensive coordinator.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
Now Golden and so long as he's actually there, I
don't think it's the worst thing in the world. Like
I understand, missing out on the actual reps. Put your
hand in the dirt, rush the passer, do the bag drills,
whatever it might be. But he has been there every
day and he's in the meetings and he's learning the offense,
he's being taught, and he's on the field holding the
(59:40):
bags when he's not participating in the actual drill. He's
doing as much as he can without actually doing it.
So I do think there's a case to be made
there for the mental reps. He's getting those, it's just
the actual physical reps is an entirely different story.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
Let's do this.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
Let's take a break, and if we have to push
talkbacks till after Joe Danaman so we can hear from
Joe Burrow. We can do that, okay, because at this point,
if Joe started talking, we're gonna have to get a
break anyway. So let's get our break in now, and
that way we can move around talkbacks if need be.
When Joe Burrow talks, we tend to listen. That's next
Cincy three to sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station,
(01:00:21):
A service of Cincy shirts.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Hey Google, you got promoted.
Speaker 14 (01:00:25):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeart Ratio.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Welcome back.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Since he three to sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station,
and a service of Cincy shirts. Normally are talkbacks. We'll
do those after Joe Danaman nour number three simply because
we're waiting on Joe Burrow to speak, which is happening
right now.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Here's the quarterback of the Bengals.
Speaker 19 (01:00:56):
Get three good days together before we go off and
on our own.
Speaker 20 (01:01:02):
It seems like we've have this discussion the last couple
of years. But for you to have an uninterrupted period
of time between now and the beginning of the season,
how important it's that?
Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
Yeah, I think it's very important. I think that showed
my play last year.
Speaker 19 (01:01:15):
That was my first full training camp in a while,
and I think you know I went out and played
as good as I have. So I'm looking to take
that next step. Happy with the progress I've been making
the last couple of weeks and getting better, so that'll continue.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
What is that next step?
Speaker 19 (01:01:31):
Better in all areas? There's always room to improve in
every area. Movement, accuracy, spin, rate, bigger, faster, stronger, all
those good things.
Speaker 7 (01:01:40):
We mentioned, grinding on your own.
Speaker 21 (01:01:41):
What is the plan for the six weeks or so
between now and training camp?
Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 19 (01:01:45):
I'm feeling good right now, kind of just take it
as my body's telling me. If I need a couple
of days off, I take a couple of days off.
But if I'm feeling good, we'll keep grinding. So kind
of take it day by day.
Speaker 22 (01:01:57):
When you spend those extra time reps out there today,
what do you what are you working on? Kind of
affrod ota after a minute camp day, what do you
what are you trying to accomplish those reps out there.
Speaker 19 (01:02:05):
And just keep trying to get a rhythm, keep trying
to improve the motion, make it efficient. You know, I
I think I talked about last year hat still wasn't
quite back to throwing out the way that I expect.
Speaker 5 (01:02:22):
So that's improved this year. I'm going to continue to improve.
Speaker 19 (01:02:27):
So as long as I keep making those reps, taking
the extra time to to get that rhythm back, it'll
continue to improve.
Speaker 7 (01:02:33):
How close do you.
Speaker 15 (01:02:34):
Think you wanted to where you were free surgery?
Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
We're getting there.
Speaker 19 (01:02:38):
I think I'm learning new things every single day and
refining my motion, refining everything about what I'm doing out there.
So that's exciting for me to feel that improvement. That's
what keeps you coming back. When you're improving, it sucks
when you're working really hard, you're not seeing any improvement.
But if you're working smart than you usually do, and
(01:03:01):
that's pretty addicting.
Speaker 13 (01:03:03):
Sure, when you talk about your rhythm and timing that
you're you're working on getting back the fact that you
got all these weapons that you're working with now in
another year, you know, under your belts in terms of
reps together and everything, how is how is it going?
I know it's early, it's really you know, just in
mini camps and everything, But how do you feel in
terms of everybody where they're supposed to be, when they're
(01:03:23):
supposed to be there all their goods?
Speaker 19 (01:03:25):
Yeah, I think guys are taking ownership in there, in
their role in each route, understanding when they can be
creative and try to get open in certain situations where
in other spots, you know, you got to run the
route like it is on the paper. But you know,
I think I think Jamar and team those guys have
have done a.
Speaker 5 (01:03:45):
Really good job of that.
Speaker 19 (01:03:46):
But where you see the most improvement is guys like
Andre Jermaine Burton, Charlie. You know, those guys have really
taken the next step I think in understanding what the
defense is throwing at him. And trying to to cnipulate
the defense to get open Lawrence your paige.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
You notice a difference and vibe or anything like that
around the locker room and practice.
Speaker 19 (01:04:08):
Definitely less distractions than last year. You know, those guys
are out there working. I know they're you know last year,
they're out there working on their own, not being here.
But when you have those two guys, guys that bring energy,
guys that make incredible plays and day in and day out,
and they're gonna grind just as hard as everybody else.
(01:04:29):
That permeates throughout the team.
Speaker 23 (01:04:32):
You've done so far OTA's mini camp, first day of
this is anything noticeably better or different as a team, It's.
Speaker 5 (01:04:40):
Tough to tell this time of year.
Speaker 19 (01:04:43):
You know, everybody wants, everybody expects to win the Super
Bowl in June, so that's not realistic. Well, we'll see
where we're at come August September. Week one got a
long way to go.
Speaker 24 (01:04:55):
Seems like he's been sharing the ball a lot more
with guys like Jermaine and Charlie Jones during seven. Is
that just kind of a reps thing or is that
something that you know you went into the offseason saying
I want to target other guys more this season.
Speaker 19 (01:05:07):
No, I've always prided myself on throwing the ball where
the defense tells me to throw it and trusting my
guys to to go and make plays. Obviously, there's gonna
be certain situations where you're gonna look for number one
and number five, but uh, you know, when you're playing
deep teams that are gonna play a lot of his
own coverage, mix up the looks on you. Then the
ball's gonna go where the ball's gonna go, and the
defense determines that.
Speaker 22 (01:05:29):
Why and Andre been so good over the years of anything,
he's got like ten touchdowns, given the receptions he's got,
Why why has he been such a big asset for you?
Speaker 7 (01:05:36):
Especially in the red zone?
Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
I think number one.
Speaker 19 (01:05:39):
In the red zone, it's a lot of off schedule
plays and that's where Andre excels. Number One, he never
gets tired. He's in great shape. That comes from his
track background. And then you know he knows that those
are he knows that we're gonna run plays to throw
the ball to Jamar and t and the offsc plays
(01:06:00):
are going to be his opportunity to go and make
big time plays for us. And he takes full advantage
of that and really understands how to get open in
those situations. What I'm looking at, what I'm expecting. He's
always trying to create more dialogue between us and talking
about routes and what I'm looking at, So you know
he takes ownership of those things and that's why you
(01:06:21):
see him continue to get better.
Speaker 21 (01:06:22):
You had less distractions with Jamar and t having a
great deals. Is Trey not being here his deal not done?
Is that a distraction?
Speaker 7 (01:06:30):
Of course?
Speaker 5 (01:06:31):
Of course.
Speaker 19 (01:06:33):
Last year we had two. This year we have one,
so we do have less. You'd love to have none,
but you know that's life in the NFL. We're all
supporting Tray and would love for him to be back.
Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
Where is this offense?
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
You've been here several years now. Where where is this offense?
Speaker 25 (01:06:49):
With Jami back, t back, picture back for a second
straight year?
Speaker 5 (01:06:53):
You're healthy?
Speaker 21 (01:06:54):
Is this maybe where this offense has never been before
at this point in the season.
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Yeah, I think we're in a that we haven't been before.
Speaker 19 (01:07:01):
Like you said, you know, guys come off of a
season healthy, getting all of our guys back. It's been
it's been weird this offseason not having to really taking
a new guy that we're counting on under my wing
and trying to teach him what I'm looking at, what
we want out of each play.
Speaker 5 (01:07:23):
You know that takes a lot of.
Speaker 19 (01:07:24):
Time, and you know signing Mike back was big.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Andre coming back.
Speaker 19 (01:07:29):
We have all the guys in the wide receiver room
back that you know, we've always already had all these discussions,
so now you can take it to the next level
and talk a little more in depth about those and
that's just going to continue to make us better.
Speaker 20 (01:07:42):
The last couple of years, you've been dealing with training
camp injuries.
Speaker 13 (01:07:47):
Then you talked about the contract stuff with Jamar last.
Speaker 14 (01:07:49):
Year, Jesse.
Speaker 26 (01:07:50):
In years past, it seems like there's always been, you know,
something that you could attribute to some of the slow starts.
Speaker 22 (01:07:56):
Do you feel like in order.
Speaker 27 (01:07:58):
For you guys put your best foot for word, there
needs to be a concerted effort on both sides from
the players and the front.
Speaker 18 (01:08:04):
Off is to have everybody available on the first day
of training camp.
Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
Ideally, Ideally, that's not always realistic.
Speaker 19 (01:08:12):
At the end of the day, we got to go
out and play better early in the season, and that's
on us with hit ownership of that. You know, I
think we're going to have a plan coming into into
training camp that'll that will help with that and get
us a little more ready.
Speaker 5 (01:08:26):
But at the end of the day, it's on us
come week one.
Speaker 22 (01:08:30):
Preseason reps and especially in games potentially being better beneficial
from your from your perspective, why would maybe more reps
in preseason games get y'all ready for week one as
supposed to maybe scrimmages and things of that nature.
Speaker 19 (01:08:42):
It's always different when you're getting hit back there, at
least for me receivers two, I'm sure you know you're
you're not taking you're not getting tackled to the ground,
You're not having to worry about big hits. My clock
is a little slower when there's not a live rush
coming at me. So, you know, I think those reps
will be very beneficial coming into into training camp. Child
(01:09:03):
being an impression he's very confident. You know, he the
he understands what we're trying to do with every play.
You know, his presence in the huddle and at the
line of scrimmage is very positive and gives off the
the impression that he knows exactly what he's doing. You
can tell he works hard. He's a big, strong, smart kids.
(01:09:23):
So obviously we haven't played any games yet, so we'll
see about you know, high expectations for him.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Being a distraction when a player misses, especially a key
player this portion of the season with mini camp OTAs,
how does that affect the team or as an individual?
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
No, I'm not sure it does too much.
Speaker 19 (01:09:44):
Number one, the young guys get more reps in training camp,
and you know that's big for them. You know, nobody's
worried about Trey working hard and doing what he needs
to do to be ready if we happen to have
him this year. But I think, you know, those young
guys getting those reps and and those physical reps are
big for that themselves and their development. On the offensive
(01:10:06):
side of the ball. You know, we have, we have everybody,
so it's not too much of a distraction for us
as it was in years past.
Speaker 5 (01:10:14):
So I'm probably more of a defensive thing.
Speaker 6 (01:10:17):
You have.
Speaker 21 (01:10:18):
You let yourself think about the possibility about Trade not
being on the roster of this year.
Speaker 19 (01:10:23):
You know, obviously it's possibility, it's not one that uh
I think would make us a better team.
Speaker 5 (01:10:30):
Uh So we'll we'll see what ends up. Happening.
Speaker 19 (01:10:33):
I don't know what's gonna happen. I wish I had
an answer for you, but you know, we'll we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
You can control what you can control.
Speaker 20 (01:10:41):
But are you happy confident with this being an offensive
driven team? It goes as far as you personally take them.
Speaker 19 (01:10:49):
Yeah, you know, we have a lot of confidence in
the defense and the things that they're doing this this
offseason with with their scheme and their players and the
young guys that that we had last year having another
year under their belts. So they're gonna be better. But
at the end of the day, you know, you win,
you win and lose with your quarterback play. So I'm
gonna take that to heart and be better this year.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Joe Pitch talked about threading the needle between keeping the
offense explosive and getting less hits on you over the
course of the season.
Speaker 7 (01:11:18):
How do you approach what's what's the best way in
your eyes.
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
For that to be better, to be more efficient in
what role do you feel like you can play and
trying to help that this time of year as you're
start into the season.
Speaker 19 (01:11:28):
It depends on how the games play out. You know,
if we're in defensive battles. Then you know, you come
out and you don't turn the ball over, You get
the ball out of your hands, you play the field
position game. If they're scoring, then you go, I'll try
to make plays and run around and do all those
good things. So you know, I go into every single
(01:11:49):
game ready to adapt to whatever the game needs for
me to try to win. You know, I'm never going
in and playing every single game the same. The first
drive will be the same, and then pretty quickly you
understand what kind of game it's going to be and
do you adapt to your play style to that.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
How is your view.
Speaker 21 (01:12:08):
Of taking hits to win changed over the course of
your career.
Speaker 19 (01:12:12):
Yeah, as you get older, you realize those hits definitely
add up a little bit.
Speaker 14 (01:12:17):
Uh.
Speaker 19 (01:12:18):
You know, like I said, I'd love to take less,
but you know, we'll see how the games play out.
Speaker 22 (01:12:23):
The most pressure is now that y'all have two years,
will moved from being in the postseason. Do you feel
the pressure mount throughout the off season as you get
closer to the season to get back to where y'all
were given the heights that y'all had early in your group.
Speaker 19 (01:12:33):
We know the we know the stakes, we know the situation.
I'm not sure pressure would be the word I would use,
But we understand the spot that we're in, missing playoffs
the last two years. You know, the players we have
in that room, the coaches we have up there, we
know the expectations we have for ourselves. So you know, playoff,
super Bowl, AFC Championship, that's the expectation around here.
Speaker 5 (01:12:56):
So we've got to get back to it.
Speaker 22 (01:12:57):
The snakes are as high as they've ever been, or
is that is that fair to say or think?
Speaker 19 (01:13:00):
Going into every season, the stakes are very high. Every
every week is super high stakes for for yourselves, coaches, families, fans.
You know, there's jobs on the line here, so we're
out there giving it our all every week. We gotta
go out and execute to provide for family, friends, fans,
(01:13:25):
everybody where.
Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
Do you think Aaron Rodgers winding up in Pittsburgh?
Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
Yeah, that would be a fun, fun two games. Obviously.
Speaker 19 (01:13:30):
I got a lot of respects for Aaron and and
like him as a person, so only played him one time,
so it'll be nice to play twice.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Given a relationship.
Speaker 22 (01:13:40):
Did you know that there was a chance to being Pittsburgh?
Speaker 7 (01:13:41):
Did y'all talk about that?
Speaker 5 (01:13:42):
No, I haven't talked to him in a lot. What
do you need different from your running game?
Speaker 7 (01:13:46):
And with this samaj add.
Speaker 19 (01:13:48):
To that, I don't think we need much different. I
think we could be a little more consistent. I thought
our run game was was good last year. You'd love
for it to be great this year.
Speaker 5 (01:14:00):
Obviously, Chase is going to take another step.
Speaker 19 (01:14:01):
You know, he's an explosive guy that can create a
lot of big time plays for us. Somage being in
there is a guy that you can rely on in
pass protection, catching the ball out of the backfield, doing
the grimy stuff for us.
Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
So you know, we feel really good about that room.
Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
Jermaine Pratt not being a Bengal anymore.
Speaker 19 (01:14:19):
Yeah, I love Jermaine. Jermaine has made some big time
plays for us over the years. We're gonna miss him
around here. He was a leader, guy that created turnovers,
made a lot of tackles, and made some of the
biggest plays in franchise history.
Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
So we love him.
Speaker 7 (01:14:34):
What made him a character?
Speaker 20 (01:14:36):
What are the traits that he brought to the table.
Speaker 19 (01:14:39):
He's a vocal guy, very vocal, and we didn't have
a ton of those the last couple of years, so uh, Jermaine.
Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
Jermaine filled that role and filled it well.
Speaker 22 (01:14:49):
Activity you're looking forward to more than more than others.
Speaker 5 (01:14:54):
No, not really, I don't have anything planned yet. Well,
we'll see how see how it goes when we get
there a.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
In the league.
Speaker 22 (01:15:00):
And in terms of how you structure your off season,
what you do before camp, how is that maybe change
as you've the longer.
Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
You've been in the league.
Speaker 19 (01:15:06):
Well, I've definitely taken some more time off as I've
gotten older and you realize how long the season is
and how perfect you need your body to feel going
into training camp to get through it. So you live
in and you learn as you get older, you're able to,
you know, make those changes to better suit yourself for
this season.
Speaker 22 (01:15:26):
A year removed from you saying you were thinking about
your football mortality at that point. How how crazy does
it feel that it's been a year?
Speaker 8 (01:15:32):
Does it?
Speaker 22 (01:15:33):
How much has changed from now until then? We look
back and see kind of how things have been folded
for you?
Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
Not a tongue has changed.
Speaker 19 (01:15:40):
You know, you blink your eye and year goes by
and you blink twice and now you're going into year six.
So that's pretty crazy to see how time flies as
you get older.
Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
How different are you do you think as a as.
Speaker 6 (01:15:51):
A twenty yeah, compared to twenty twenty.
Speaker 19 (01:15:55):
Yeah, I think I'm very different. I think I understand
how to play the game more efficiently, more productively. I
understand what defenses are going to try to do to us,
and you know, I'll have all the answers in your
back pocket to to try to combat that. You know,
I feel like I'm as prepared as ever, and you know,
(01:16:18):
anything anybody throws that me, I'll have an answer for.
So I'm excited to go out there and show that again.
Speaker 13 (01:16:26):
Hav any answers like you like you just talked about.
Al Golden comes in as a new defensive coordinator. He
had a great run at Notre Dame. He's had a
lot of different things with his schematics and his configurations
and coverages and everything. How big a fan are you
and how how big of an impact you think you
might be?
Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
Yeah? I love Al and I love his scheme.
Speaker 19 (01:16:45):
You know, anytime you have a new scheme come in,
there's going to be some bumps in the road early
with communication and getting lined up and who has who
depending on on splits and formations.
Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
And motions.
Speaker 19 (01:16:58):
So it's early, but you know, when we get to
training camp, I'm excited to see what they're gonna do
and who they're gonna be.
Speaker 5 (01:17:06):
Is there anything that you've seen from them?
Speaker 24 (01:17:07):
I know there's no pass rush or anything, just really
seven on seven drills, But have you seen anything from
the defense that maybe looks different from previous years.
Speaker 5 (01:17:15):
When you go against some practice. Yeah, a lot, a
lot of communication.
Speaker 19 (01:17:19):
Uh, you know, the guys up front are are doing
some more games and stuff to try to get home
and stop the run, create more pass rush. You know,
it's been nice to have TJ. Slayton out there. He's
a very vocal guy. Un tell he's gonna be a
leader of that group, So that's exciting. BJ's not out
(01:17:40):
there right now, but when he is, he's a similar guy.
So you know, we have some great leaders on that
side of the ball that I expect to go out
there and play great.
Speaker 5 (01:17:48):
So that's that's exciting.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
From the last stretch of last season, it was Hu,
Jamar and t going out for the coin toss. Would
you like to see them have seeds on their jerseys
this year?
Speaker 19 (01:17:56):
Yeah, we'll see. We'll see where the votes are. You know,
those guys are guys that work really hard and you know,
deserve it. But that's up to that's up to the team.
Speaker 5 (01:18:07):
Father's Day coming up.
Speaker 26 (01:18:08):
Do you still get a kick out of your dad
and Jimmy Chase's relationship.
Speaker 19 (01:18:12):
Yeah, definitely. Those guys like to have fun, that's for sure.
One of my favorite parts of doing this is, you know,
providing that experience for my family to be able to
get together.
Speaker 5 (01:18:21):
So it's always exciting. Thanks Thanks Chuching, Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
All right, So that is some Joe Burrow from just
after Mandatory Mini Camp day one. There's a lot there.
Let's break Austin, let's come back, and let's discuss some
of the highlights of what we heard from Joe Burrow.
Next on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to
Cinti Sharts.
Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
On ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, Welcome back.
Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
Since you three to six thanks to since he shirts.
By the way, we'll get our talkbacks in after we
talked to Joe Danoman in our number three. That'll kick
things off in just a couple of minutes at two o'clock.
Before that, we just heard from Joe Burrow after mandatory
Minichamp day number one. A couple things that stood out,
(01:19:20):
at least to me and Austin'll get your take. His
maturity and understanding what it takes to play at this level.
He talked a lot about getting his body right. He
talked a lot about downtime and resting more and knowing
that you got to be at your best going into
camp because the season is such a grind. I also
(01:19:41):
think the mental understanding. You know, it's it's hard because
the time has flown by, but there are not many
defenses out there that Joe Burrow hasn't seen now, and
I think just the understanding of what the defense is
trying to do and manipulate him. I think he now
has answers for all of that. And he talked about,
you know, and Yoshivash and Jermaine Burton understanding their development
(01:20:03):
and you know, what the defense is trying to take away,
what the defense is open to, different things like that.
He spoke in very positive nature about Jermaine Burton and
Andre Yoshivash the preseason reps. After having a healthy offseason,
still talked about the mentality of knowing you can get
hit and how the game speeds up a little bit
(01:20:26):
as opposed to practices when you know you're not going
to get hit and it slows down. I think that
was an important piece to take away. And finally, you know,
he did label the Trey Hendrickson situation as a distraction.
He said it is a distraction. He said, they all
support Trey Hendrickson. They hope he's with the team soon.
But you know, last year they had two distractions. This
year they had won. But he did label the Trey
(01:20:46):
Hendrickson situation as a distraction. I don't think that anything
was unexpected from that, but those are, at least were
my biggest takeaways from what Joe Burrow had to say. Austin,
do you have any others?
Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
Yeah, I mean, just kind of piggybacking on the Tree conversation.
Was the idea that he may not be here this year,
and you know, Joe has thought about that, and the
team has thought about that and they understand. And the
question was also posed, do you think it's on the
organization a little bit to have things buttoned up prior
(01:21:16):
to the start of the season to help you guys
start faster, And he kind of said it would be
ideal but at the end of the day, it's on
us to actually be able to perform and start fast.
So I thought that was notable, and I thought that
was a good question. I believe that came from Kelsey Conway.
So yeah, I don't know that. I would say I'm
surprised by that much of it, the idea that he's
(01:21:41):
still getting better and still not quite what he wanted
to be or where he wanted to be post wrist
injury as he continues to work on some stuff. But
he did say that some of those metrics he's looking
at have gotten better, so that I think is a
good thing as well. I would love to know how
(01:22:01):
much of a distraction it is, Right, it is a distraction.
I don't think anybody would disagree with that, But how
much of a distraction is it? Can it be a
big distraction for the quarterback and for the offense. I
don't know that it is. I mean, you were in
an NFL locker room, you know more than me. How
(01:22:22):
often are you really concerning yourself with the defense?
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Yeah, I don't think much of that end. I think
it's what Joe Danaman kind of alluded to last year.
When it's you know, the open locker room, and every
single days it's questions that you have to answer about
Trey Hendrickson. And you know, if Trey were to be
there but not be practicing, the media swarm around Trey
every day. I mean we talked about that a lot
last year. Joe Danman brought that up, you know, about
(01:22:50):
how it feels like it's weighing on a lot of guys.
So I think from that aspect, especially when you're Joe
Burrow and you're tasked with answering questions like that, I
think it does become a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:23:01):
The other the other question I would have is do
you think Trey is going to be here at training camp?
That That's what I would have asked him, because if
he's not here, which is a bigger distraction, Trey is
there or Trey is not there, could be a revived
Fitness System's poll question. You know, there's I think there's
(01:23:25):
something to the idea of out of side, out of mind.
You know, Carson Palmer didn't show up in twenty eleven,
and very quickly the Bengals started winning games because if
he done twenty eleven and they were on their way
to the playoffs because of how good Andy and aj were.
Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
If he doesn't show the first day or so, it
becomes a lot of talking points, but then you kind
of put it out of side, out of mind. Whereas
Jamar was there last year, he just wasn't on the field,
so and we'd be constantly.
Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
We began, you know, looking at everything Jamar was doing,
what clothes he was wearing, what his body language is saying,
and the same with Jesse Bates a couple of years
before that. It became an every single day thing.
Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
Where if it's not there, yes he's probably gonna still
have to answer questions, but on a daily basis, it's
not that crazy as opposed to if you come off
the practice field and there's Trey in front of his
locker and here comes thirty media members again and it's
a circus that becomes a lot every day.
Speaker 1 (01:24:19):
And that's what it was with Jamar Chase last year.
Speaker 4 (01:24:20):
Yeah, and you know Jamar. Eventually jar didn't say anything,
which also made it worse because it was just speculation
more than anything else. You know, we talked about the
idea Trey Hendrickson is forfeiting over one hundred thousand dollars
by not being here these next couple of days, He's
going to forfeit a lot more than that if he's
(01:24:41):
not there at training camp. Yeah, how does the team
handle that and the distraction that he is.
Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
Or will be.
Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
No matter what he decides to do a month and
a half from now when they start training camp. Sure,
that's you know that to is the biggest question, And
I think it becomes an even bigger issue if there's
still no resolution to Shamar Stewart, because now you're wondering, Okay,
what exactly is this defense going to look like with
(01:25:15):
neither of those guys. Offensively, though, I don't know that
it matters. I don't know that it is nearly as
much of a distraction to Joe and the offense as
it is as it was last year because t was there,
but t wasn't doing as much during training camp. Jamar
was doing nothing, Burrow was coming off the wrist. It
was just I mean, it was a struggle at times
(01:25:38):
offensively last year during training camp. I don't know that
Trey's absence would be that big of a distraction on
the field, at least for the offense.
Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
Sure, more that we can ask Joe Daneman at the
top of our number three. Do I have a second
to do a Postman Law injury Sure do Man, It's
time for today's Postman Law Injury report. It's delivered by
Postman Law. If you're injured, Postman delivers a couple updates
we received yesterday and today. Hunter Green headed to Los
Angeles for a second opinion on his back and on
(01:26:11):
his groin injuries. So that is something to obviously keep
an eye on with Hunter Green. Jim Day said earlier
over the weekend, it's week to week, not day today
with Hunter Green. Noelve Marte remember him. He's been gone
for a while.
Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
I do.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
He was playing pretty good before he got hurt. Yeah,
the oblique injury. He began hitting from soft tosses in
batting cages last Friday. Let's Go MLB dot Com reports
and Austin Hayes had a final running test on Monday
that got postponed because of the weather that was happening
in Cleveland. They didn't want to put him out there
(01:26:48):
with the adverse weather conditions. So I am assuming that
Austin Hayes will have his final running test. Maybe tonight
might be happening right now, could be happening right now.
That is all from a Cincinnati read standpoint means that's
all for today's Postman Law Injury Report delivered by Postman
Law Injured Call eight four to four Postman. Are we
(01:27:09):
coming back for a brief moment before Joe Danemon.
Speaker 4 (01:27:12):
No, we still have about three minutes or so before
we take a break.
Speaker 1 (01:27:16):
Perfect.
Speaker 4 (01:27:17):
If there's anything else you wanted to work in, we
can update the poll question if you do, God, let's
do that. The Revive Fitness Systems dot Com poll question
brought to you by Revivefitness Systems dot Com and coach PJ.
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
Street.
Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
Which is a bigger issue Trey hnderckson not practicing or
Shamar Stewart not practicing. Eighty two percent say Shamar Stuart
not practicing. And while we have a moment here, ton,
I have about fifty five seconds of Shamar Stewart if
you'd like to hear that. Yes, this is Shamar Stewart
at his locker following Mini camp Day one.
Speaker 5 (01:27:51):
Very bad. I mean I've been doing this for once.
Speaker 28 (01:27:54):
My whole life, and then all of a sudden it
is gone over something very simple to fix.
Speaker 5 (01:27:59):
It's kind of disappointing.
Speaker 29 (01:28:01):
Have they given you any answers as to why they're
choosing this year and you to set a new president.
Speaker 28 (01:28:09):
If I really wanted to say, I can't say.
Speaker 5 (01:28:11):
What I really want to say.
Speaker 7 (01:28:14):
Is their contract. They could do what they.
Speaker 29 (01:28:15):
Want with it.
Speaker 5 (01:28:19):
How important is it for you?
Speaker 21 (01:28:21):
Do you think from a player standpoint to be on
the field for training?
Speaker 7 (01:28:25):
It's very important.
Speaker 28 (01:28:26):
I mean, like you gotta get your buddy someone here
to play football, especially me come from college to the
NFL is a way physical game. Even though I played
that to see which is very physical, but define compares
to actually playing in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (01:28:39):
So I thought it'd be.
Speaker 7 (01:28:41):
I thought i'd be on the field by now.
Speaker 5 (01:28:42):
That's what I would thought.
Speaker 1 (01:28:44):
Okay, Yeah, I can't really say what he wants to say.
Speaker 4 (01:28:48):
And you know, just reading his his facial expressions, and
you can watch the video Kelsey Conway posted on her
Twitter page. You know eyebrows up a bit of a smirk.
Speaker 1 (01:29:01):
Yeah, and he.
Speaker 4 (01:29:02):
Used air quotes on their contract. So that might be
a quote of how the Bengals are negotiating this thing,
this is our contract.
Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Well, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, but.
Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
That looks to me like a guy who's pretty impatient, yeah,
and not happy that this isn't frustrated.
Speaker 1 (01:29:23):
I don't blame him. Those the importance of these reps.
I don't blame him.
Speaker 4 (01:29:26):
He's got a bunch of money that just hasn't hit
his account yet.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
And he's probably thinking, again, here's everyone else around him
starting to sign or already signed, already at the point
where that's past them, And as much as he wants
to dive into it, he can't because this is still
not past him. So again, I think he understands what
he's missing. I think in that minute of audio and
(01:29:53):
kind of tell Okay, I know I need to be
out there. I know that I need to get myself
where I need to and quite frankly, quite frankly, I
thought i'd be there by now.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
Yeah. So I think that is a.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Very very interesting dynamic to look at there of Shamar Stewart,
really some of the first audio we've heard from him.
But again, can't really say what he wants to say.
It's their contract, meaning the Cincinnati Bengals. Huh. I like
the pause between questions too, like, how do you even
(01:30:25):
respond to.
Speaker 4 (01:30:25):
That he said something the way he said that everybody
kind of couldn't believe he said it, like, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
Okay, where do we go? What's the next question? Just
like oh okay, all right, uh.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Yeah, all right. That's another thing we can ask Joe Danemon. Yes,
when we come back to kick off the third and
final hour of Cincy three to sixty on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks to CINTI shirts. Tony Pike
here with my friends at Tri State Men's Health. Did
you know that low testosterone causes a host of problems
in men? They can include low sex drive, bad sleep patterns.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
Since e three sixty of Bout Cincinnati from Cincinnatis, sponsored
in part by Penn Station East Coast Subs, handcrafted hot
grilled subs, fresh cut fries and lemonade. It's all about
good taste. Penn Station East Coast Subs order online today.
This is ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
All right, welcome back our three thanks to Penn Station,
more on them and just a little bit, uh, thank
you for listening on the Home of the Bengals, ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
It's Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
It's two o'clock, which means we get to talk to
our good friend from Fox nineteen, Joe Daniman, who stands
by to join us right now, Hi, Joe, Well, isn't.
Speaker 6 (01:31:43):
It interesting that on a day where the Reds are
celebrating a four game winning streak and Joe Burrow just
spoke and Trey Hendrickson is not here, all of a sudden,
it feels like Shamar Stewart has kind of hijacked the
local media and what were going to be talking about
here the next couple of hours at least, and after
(01:32:03):
having a session at his locker. I know you guys
just played it, I believe before you went to the break.
Very interesting, the tone that Shamar Stewart just set inside
the Banks's locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:32:16):
You know, I think that that was interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
We played the video that Kelsey Conway put out, but
Jay Morrison also sent out a tweet that one thing
of note is that he has said that the stars
in the locker room are telling him he's doing the
right thing. So it it does it changes not to
mention the Ohio Cup that we got to talk about
on a day where these all these all these different
(01:32:40):
leads here we are talking about Shamar Stewart to lead
things off is very interesting.
Speaker 6 (01:32:45):
Yeah, I imagine Cinnati was had people coming out of
the offices on Fountain Square lining the streets ready for
the ticker tape, got the champagne ready to bring the
Ohio Cup back even before the team gets back home.
But what Shamar Stewart said about the stars having his back,
I have to think, guys, this leads into the idea
that what the squabble is currently in Jamar Stewart's contract
(01:33:08):
as far as we know that this one detail that
hasn't been in other Bengals contracts before, has to kind
of raise the eyebrow of everybody in that room. And look,
whatever business it is, they can decide to change how
they do contracts anytime they can. But the fact that
the Bengals are using this one in this time and
(01:33:31):
this pick to add this clause in a contract that
wasn't in a Marius Mems last year, as far as
we know, wasn't in Jamar chases as far as we know,
we're talking about Jamar's extension. Same with t Higgins. I
can understand why the locker room is seeing this, hearing
about this, reading about this, and understands that, now, wait
(01:33:51):
a minute, why is this happening. Now, why did they
decide to go it with with this guy? So I
can understand why some of the guys in to Bang's
locker room. It's kind of an eyebrow raised about what's
going on with Shamar Stewart and currently with the Beanngal's
front office.
Speaker 4 (01:34:07):
You mentioned the tone. How would you describe the tone
that he said?
Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
Huh.
Speaker 6 (01:34:13):
Interesting. I want to choose the correct word here because
I think everybody always falls to frustrated, and certainly there
was some frustration inside of what Chamar Stewart was saying.
Speaker 8 (01:34:25):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:34:26):
I think it's a little bit of and this isn't
the word, but here's kind of the feeling you have,
like I want to be out there, I want to
do this, I'm ready to play. I know the guys
need me. I want to prove who I am. They're
just not allowing me to go do that because of
this one small thing. And it almost feels like to me,
he's looking at it from a perspective of they're saying
(01:34:48):
it's their contract, and he used air quotes when he
said it's their contract. So there's a little bit of frustration,
a little bit of sarcasm, and what he's saying, But
ultimately I think it it's a guy that wants to
be out there and wanted to set a tone today
that he wants to play, that he wants to practice,
that he wants to prove himself. But he's confused and
(01:35:11):
at this point just a little bit exasperated by what's
going on with this contract dispute that he didn't anticipate
happening and is confused by why it's happening to him
at this point.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
At the root of all this, it's just it's not
the one offs. It's what these one offs add up to.
A veteran in Sam Hubbard is no longer here. Trey
Hendrickson did not report today, Shamar Stewart can't get on
the field. And at the root of it all, you
have a brand new defensive coordinator in year one, trying
to install a new scheme for what was one of
the league's worst defenses last year. How do the sum
(01:35:45):
of all these parts create I guess some uneasy thoughts
and conversations around this defense as a whole right now
on what was supposed to be a different offseason feel.
Speaker 6 (01:35:56):
That's right, and it was supposed to be all about
gearing this team up to be ready to roll Week
one and start the season off better than they have
under Zach Taylor. And I know we've discussed this many
times on the show, that that has.
Speaker 7 (01:36:08):
Been what's hanging over this team.
Speaker 6 (01:36:11):
And it's been interesting too, the way that the Bengals
players have taken that question, because it's been a question
that's been asked to these guys here the last several years,
understanding this is a trend that this team just does
not start well. They don't win games consistently in September,
and it's come back to Biden the last couple of seasons,
and the guys kind of seemed annoyed by it in
(01:36:33):
recent years. This year, the language and the reaction is
different from the players. They're all in on this understanding
that this team has to do whatever it can to
be ready to play Week one at a level where
they can go to Cleveland and win a game. That
they can't start slow again. They know that, and that's
been the emphasis not only from Zach Taylor and in
(01:36:56):
his press conference when when they let go of lou Anarumo,
not only from Golden when he took the press conference
table and talked about becoming the new defensive coordinator here
in Cincinnati. And then every conversation we have inside the
locker room is all about one thing, and it's being
ready in week one. And you start talking about guys,
and look, we all understand that that Trey Hendrickson doesn't
need the off season reps to be ready to play
(01:37:18):
week one. We all understand that, you know, he can
go out there and be ready and be a difference maker.
But there are a lot of guys on this team
who need them and Shamar Stewart is one of those guys.
He's a guy that needs coaching to take his game
to the next level. He's there, he's present, he's watching,
he's listening, but he's not doing And that's an important
part of this of what he needs to do to
(01:37:40):
hit the ground running at training camp. Certainly, we all
think that Shamar Stewart is going to be signed in
plenty of time for him to be ready week one,
But will he be ready to be a difference maker?
And I don't know if that's going to be the
case for a guy who hasn't had the off season
that we all expected him to have. And here we
are in mid June, and it feels like both sides
(01:38:02):
are kind of dug in on this one contract dispute,
and to me, it just kind of feels almost to
the point where it's starting to hurt him and he
understands that, and that's where the frustration and the exit
exasperation is leading from Shamar Stewart him not getting on
the field because of his contract dispute.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
At the same time, the league leader in sacks from
last year, Trey Hendrickson, did not report today. There was
a report that the Bengals reached out to his representation,
but nothing was able to come about from that. At
the end of the day, with it being mandatory mini
camp and knowing what the finds look like, are you
surprised that Trey Hendrickson is not here?
Speaker 6 (01:38:42):
You know, I didn't know. I didn't know what it
would look like. I thought it might look like what
Jamar looked like last year with him here but not participating.
But I also wonder if, outside of the find and
that's personal to Trey, if he's willing to take on
that loss of money, and obviously he is. Sometimes when
when they're not here, it's it's a little bit easier
(01:39:03):
for the team to focus on what they're doing, because
you think back Tony, especially during training camp last year.
Every single day, the cameras were pointing at Jamar, we
were judging his body language, we were wondering what he
was wearing.
Speaker 28 (01:39:19):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:39:19):
It led every single video we talked about on the
news until he got out on the practice field. And
it's almost like it's easier when Tray's not here for
the team that's to focus on what they're doing this
week at mandatory mini camp without his presence just kind
of hanging over it. So if there's a trust, and
Joe Burrow said that today, there's a trust that Trey
(01:39:41):
will do everything he needs to do to make sure
he's ready for whenever he does show up. And I
think you know he's got the professional track record that
that trust is warranted, that that him not being here
is outside of him being fined, is okay with this
team because they know what he's about, they know where
he's going to be, and with him not being here,
(01:40:02):
it's less focus on Trey. There aren't as many cameras
that are waiting around his locker, there aren't as many
cameras on the practice field. Pointed directly at a guy
who's not doing anything. So I don't think it's the
worst thing in the world that he's not here. I
kind of tend to believe this week, the bigger deal
is Shamar Stewart not practicing because of the reps he
(01:40:22):
needs in what feels like now is starting to take
a next level in this contract dispute. But Trey being here,
I was fifty to fifty if he would show up.
He didn't show up. He's okay taking to find because
he believes that's his best play going forward.
Speaker 3 (01:40:39):
Anything else from Joe Burrow today that maybe stood out
more so than anything else he said for you, Yeah,
a couple.
Speaker 6 (01:40:47):
Things, And I heard your last segment before he went
to the break, and I thought you nailed it with
a good word maturity and maturity for Joe isn't just
him understanding his body and what he needs to do,
Because it feels like every year he adds more data
points on what he needs to get himself in the
(01:41:07):
best place to play his best football for that given year.
And I think that's interesting seeing that kind of maturity
from Joe Burrow, understanding himself physically and mentally. But I
also think there's a maturity of what Joe understands as
far as the business, the organization, and the way he
talked about Trey to me was very interesting. I thought
(01:41:28):
he was very matter of fact with Trey with the
questions that were asked of him, and I think he
was trying to set a tone of, look, this is
what happens. This is what's happening with Trey. We understand it,
but let's not let this thing deep into what we're
trying to do. And I think it's easy to say that,
(01:41:48):
certainly from a quarterback to the offensive side of the ball,
because Trey not being there really doesn't affect his work.
But I think he was trying to set a matter
of fact tone of let that take care of itself,
don't let this become what was Jamar last year.
Speaker 7 (01:42:04):
And even though.
Speaker 6 (01:42:05):
We've talked about Jamar being different, just the way he
carries himself and the amount of media attention he gets,
I don't think Trey would get as much attention from
a training camp quote unquote hold in as Jamar had.
But I think Joe was trying to set a tone
today with that. The last thing I'll say about Joe
that I thought was really interesting, and I'm sure you
(01:42:25):
guys played it when he was speaking live. What was
him talking about the secondary receivers? You know, we know
what Jamar and Tira about and their ability to see
what's on the paper and then adjust to what the
defense is actually doing on the field. And Joe talked
today for a bit about Andre, about Charlie and about
Jermaine Burton and these guys taking that next level step
(01:42:48):
of understanding what the concept is on the paper and
then reading what the defense is doing and going off script,
of getting creative, of having that comfortability with the offense
with Joe Burrow to be playmakers on the field on
the fly given what the defense is doing. I thought
that was very interesting, uh, for Joe to talk about
those secondary receivers the way he did today.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
Joe, I do have to ask have you been informed
of any type of formal celebration that will be happening
when the Reds return home with the Ohio Cup?
Speaker 6 (01:43:21):
Yet not yet. I was trying to rally people from
oh Let's think of whatever businesses are down there on
Fountain Square. We can get the folks from the fifth
third building to come down and their and their business suits.
I'm guessing these days it's business casual.
Speaker 1 (01:43:37):
Uh, you know, spirited the way you're describing those people.
Speaker 6 (01:43:44):
Hey, my brother works in the corporate world. He dresses nice,
so I'll let him go. I know he's in the
suit every single day. But they're gonna come down. They're
gonna have their newspapers cut up. Uh, their their their
office paper that they put in the printer. Come up
ready to throw makeshift ticker parade with Terry Francona right
there on us. He's got to get on one of
(01:44:04):
those gators with Elie Da la Cruz again right leading
leading the parade through downtown Cincinnati of the Ohio Cup.
It's funny how much we laugh at the Ohio Cup.
But the Reds have kind of owned the Guardians this year. Yeah,
every game they played, it feels like the Reds are
in control against this team. I have thoughts on why
(01:44:24):
the Reds have handled the Guardians so well, But why
not go ahead and make it six straight by winning
the next two and go ahead and dominate this thing
this year here in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
It feels Joe every time we're ready to move on
or dismiss the Reds that they do something like they're
doing right now. They've all of a sudden won four
in a row. They get a win last night with
Wade Miley starting the game. The offense has found a
little bit more consistency. Are you seeing more out of
this team that leads you to believe that that maybe
(01:44:57):
they can be more consistent from an offensive a approach?
Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
And what is it about the Guardians that turns the
red corner outfielders into like Shaq and Kobe? You know
that shack the good clip that everybody uses glitter, That's
that's Jake Freeley and Will Benson in these games against
the Guardians. Uh, I don't I don't know what it is.
I get a kick out of every day. Uh. There's
an account that puts them the Guardian's calls of Will
(01:45:25):
bentson terror rising, the Cleveland franchise and the tone they
have talking about Will Benson.
Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Uh makes me laugh.
Speaker 6 (01:45:33):
But I think what you're seeing, guys is is the
lengthening of this lineup, and certainly it's it's going to
help as well. Uh. When when Austin Hayes gets back,
I know it was delayed a little bit. His his
testing of his foot on the field, I think that'll happen,
maybe even today in fact, and he might get a
green light to return midweek or later in the week.
(01:45:54):
But I think you're seeing a lengthening of the lineup,
uh with with some of these guys who are back,
who are back hitting like themselves a little bit more.
And I think the big picture with the Reds is this, Look,
they've played sixty seven games, and we can talk about
the roller coaster of winning and lose. I mean, even
even the Colorado Rockies just won three games in a row.
So even bad teams and I'm not saying that the
(01:46:16):
Reds are a bad team. Even even bad teams have
winning streaks of three or four games. But I think
what the big picture take away from the Reds is this,
if they face a right handed pitcher who's less than good,
they're gonna hammer that guy. That's what this team does.
(01:46:36):
Unless it's a really good to elite right handed pitcher
or a left handed pitcher, the Reds are gonna have
a really good chance of winning that game because of
their pitching staff and the way they handle right handed pitching.
And Cleveland's got a lot of that, and that's why
I think the Reds have been in control in this
series is that they've been able to get to Cleveland
(01:46:57):
starters because they don't have a lot of elite starting pitching.
It's a lot of right handed guys, and the Reds
have shown through sixty seven games that if you throw
a guy like that at them, they have a really
good chance of putting up some pretty big or at
least good offensive numbers and giving that pitching staff a
chance to go out there and win.
Speaker 3 (01:47:18):
It feels like with how good the pitching staff has been,
it wasn't a great report from Hunter green standpoint. We
know he's getting the second opinion. Jim Day used the
term week to week, not day to day. Do you
think that the way they're built from a pitching standpoint,
that they can withstand not having their ace for a
prolonged series of time.
Speaker 6 (01:47:38):
Yeah, yes and no, because I would have said yes
before the season because of what the Reds had as
far as reinforcements. You know, we thought all along throughout
spring training that they had six quality starters and that
if one guy went down, Rhett Louder would be able
to step in and take his spot. Now that Rhet
Louder's down, it's a little bit more of a concern.
(01:48:02):
You know, Chase Burns has been fast tracked triple A,
but he's not yet ready, at least as far as
what the Red front office things to come into the
majors and be competitive. But in this day and age,
having four quality starters out of your five is still
pretty darn good. There were guys on this team that
(01:48:25):
I didn't think this team would be able to withstand
missing for a period of time. And if you would
have asked me at the start of the season, I
would have said three players. I said that this team
could not afford to lose Lie de la Cruz for
an extended period of time. They couldn't afford to lose TJ.
Friedel for an extended period of time. And I would
have said Hunter Green as well. But looking at where
they are now as far as depth as a starting rotation,
(01:48:47):
if four of your five guys are likely to give
you a quality start in twenty twenty five, for as
much as everybody's looking for pitching, I still think the
Reds are in a good spot. Now. See, the argument
would be, listen, they've got a hole to climb out of.
They've got to try to catch either Philadelphia, San Francisco
or San Diego in this wild card and those are
(01:49:10):
good teams who aren't slowing down, and the Reds are
already in the hole. So yes, they need Hunter Green
to close that gap. But for this team to be
able to be competitive on a night end night out
basis with four other five starters, if Hunter Green does
miss an extended period of time, I think they're in
a decent spot.
Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
Joe Daneman, Fox nineteen, Joe, you are the absolute best man.
Speaker 1 (01:49:31):
What's coming up? What's coming up on Fox nineteen for
listeners to follow along with?
Speaker 6 (01:49:36):
We got big state tournament coverage this weekend. We have Bayden,
we have Lakota West, we have Indian Hill, all going
for a state title up in Canton, Akron area. We'll
be camped out there all weekend long covering that. Of course, tomorrow,
I'm gonna see you tomorrow at the big unveiling o
ye Yactice facility today. Oh, I cannot wait to see
(01:49:59):
that five o'clock the big ribbon cutting tomorrow. Will have
coverage of that as well.
Speaker 3 (01:50:04):
Awesome, Joe, Thank you so much for your time, man,
We appreciate it. Tea Boys, Joe Daniman Fox nineteen absolute best.
Can I can I go into Break Austin with one
more quote from Jamar Stewart. Yeah, listen to this one.
Uh he is this from Jay Morrison as well. He's
speaking in terms of y'all by meaning the Bengals front office.
(01:50:26):
He said, I'm one hundred percent right. I'm not asking
for nothing y'all have never done before. But in y'all case,
y'all just want to win arguments more than winning games.
How about that? That's a rookie.
Speaker 4 (01:50:41):
That's a typical line when people want to hate on
the Bengals front office and they say they're more interested
on player, more interested in winning negotiations than winning games. Man,
I disagree with that. Incredible from a player and a rookie.
From a rookie, that's the thing. A dude has not
played a SA National Football League, a guy who did
(01:51:04):
not produce very much in college. Interesting, I you know,
the more I watch it, Yeah, I don't like the
way he comes off.
Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
I choose the words wisely. I know I will probably
just keep my head down stay quiet in this at
this At this.
Speaker 4 (01:51:19):
Point I know and that I know, I'm I'm I'm
like the Bengals Homer like, that's how people view me.
I don't think this is a good look for either side,
but I think it looks worse on Shamar Start.
Speaker 3 (01:51:32):
Much more to get to with that when we come

Speaker 4 (01:56:30):

Speaker 5 (01:57:54):
Take care of who go right man?
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
Skybridge Anakiska trampoline park. All Kevin's playing all the hits?
And is that where you're going in July?
Speaker 9 (01:58:03):

Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
I wish where are you going? We're gonna go to Florida,
dang Man.
Speaker 30 (01:58:08):
Maybe Filace haink Hill here and bomb. Well the Reds
did it? How about that? And I tell you what
what Cleveland was doing with the T shirts last year.
Cincinnati is in Kentucky. Well, first of all, what's wrong
with Kentucky? I know a lot of great people in Kentucky,
the Congressman and Covin in northern Kentucky being a couple
(01:58:31):
of them. And first of all, Cincinnati is not in Kentucky.
Just shows the education levels.
Speaker 1 (01:58:37):
Yeah, figure that out. Way to go? Yeah, Well, I'm
telling you, once you get North Alima.
Speaker 30 (01:58:44):
Cincinnati is in Kentucky. Oh wow, Well, I tell you
that one really smarts. How will we ever recover from that?
I got a batter one for you. Cleveland is in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
Oh, let's go. I'll never forget.
Speaker 4 (01:59:03):
Marty Brennaman once famously said Akron was a nice vacation
from Cleveland.
Speaker 31 (01:59:08):
Winning the Ohio companies everything to us in this town.
It makes our food taste better, our beer colder, our
wives look younger, and our children seem more.
Speaker 1 (01:59:20):
Obedience.
Speaker 6 (01:59:21):
And Tito really is magnificent.
Speaker 31 (01:59:24):
Hang that faner up. He's turned this thing around in
four games. And Audie I would loves he pictures of
you with hair, Bud just get it too. Let's bring
back the good old days, bring them back. I think
they're here to day, good old day.
Speaker 1 (01:59:37):
They're here to say the magnificent man.
Speaker 10 (01:59:43):
Hey, it's God Happy Talking Tuesday, Talk Back Nation. And
maybe between Tony Pikes and Bengals and JD Vance's Bengals
and the rest of our Bengals, maybe all three of
them combined will have a winning record this year.
Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
Okay, it's possible.
Speaker 7 (02:00:02):
Okay, what's good rapping in my city out here in
sunny hot?
Speaker 6 (02:00:05):
What up?
Speaker 7 (02:00:06):
Tony?
Speaker 18 (02:00:06):
What up?
Speaker 7 (02:00:06):
Body? Good win by the Reds last night? Not drinking
the kool aid, I'm sipping it, Okay for in a row.
Let's get the series win. That's the only thing that
matters to me. McClain. Yo, your bet is not good,
but the defense is great. I love it. Wish you
can hit dude. Yes, that's w KRP here in the
background because I'm home sick. I can't wait. This has
been my theme SONGCE for a week now. Tony, I
(02:00:27):
don't know, man, I don't think get off of way, moy.
He could strike you out, brother, No talk. I think
he got you no.
Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
By the way, one of the low key bass from
last night was when McLain went behind the runner that uh,
when Frehley was throwing home and the runner had no
idea he was there and cut off man. It's actual
good defensive play all around.
Speaker 11 (02:00:48):
Trey Henderson gives me a headache.
Speaker 5 (02:00:52):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 11 (02:00:53):
Churchill said about Russia it was like an enigma wrapped
in a mist, wrapped in a riddle.
Speaker 7 (02:01:01):
Don't quote me on that.
Speaker 1 (02:01:02):
Something that's kind of like the Reds.
Speaker 11 (02:01:05):
They're like a box at Chocolate's Great Cats by Denzel Washington.
Speaker 1 (02:01:10):
I thought it cleared Washington.
Speaker 7 (02:01:12):
I mean, isn't that a homer if it crossed?
Speaker 3 (02:01:14):
Disappointment Denzel Clark. I think Denzel's making another movie. But yes, similar.
Speaker 21 (02:01:21):
Putting the two Joe's in front of talkbacks, My goodness,
what does this world come to?
Speaker 10 (02:01:27):
Talkbacks take a back seat to nobody, and I mean nobody.
Speaker 1 (02:01:32):
Except danam And and Burrow. Yeah, I mean those two
are pretty important.
Speaker 4 (02:01:35):
Tough and executioner.
Speaker 32 (02:01:39):
It's your boy, Alix and silvertoo. Last night we were
talking about ESPN keeps trying to call Haliburn the Moment
as his nickname, but his nickname is the Hollie band.
So last name we said Mount rushmore of nicknames that
started with.
Speaker 6 (02:01:53):
The like the Ohio State. So I'm gonna go with
the truth.
Speaker 1 (02:02:00):
The answer, Yeah, the dream and the big ticket. That's
what I was going to say. And I don't think
I can beat any of those. I was going to say,
the big ticket. The answer comes out right away. Uh,
kid Gary Gary Clark, the problem.
Speaker 15 (02:02:14):
Yeh.
Speaker 1 (02:02:14):
I think the kids up there for me. The kid
is up there.
Speaker 26 (02:02:17):
Hey guys, talk back matters guy, great show. I just
wanted to talk about the trade deal. So if they
cut germane they got almost what six million dollars?
Speaker 1 (02:02:28):
They have the money.
Speaker 26 (02:02:30):
So why don't we just offer Trey a three year
deal or even a two year deal and just add
Praps money to that. And I can't see him not
sign him for thirty one million. That way we come
up and you know, have fifty of that guaranteed.
Speaker 1 (02:02:48):
Yeah, it's it's clearly the valuation they have on Trey
Hendrickson because they have the money. They've had the money
all along to do it. Oh my god, this Shamar
Stewart thing.
Speaker 27 (02:03:01):
You know, normally a rookie, especially a rookie who hasn't
taken a snap in the NFL yet and who wasn't
very productive at all in college. Normally a guy like
that doesn't go scorched.
Speaker 17 (02:03:20):
Oh my god.
Speaker 27 (02:03:21):
Yeah, you say the Bengals are having buyers remorse.
Speaker 1 (02:03:25):
Oh boy, oh boy, especially Lucas Patrick's injured right now.
They could have h what's that? What was that guy
from from North Dakota that got drafted right after him? Zabel? Yeah,
gray A could have had him.
Speaker 25 (02:03:38):
Tony Aus and George in the Valley. So hear about
this standors contract.
Speaker 5 (02:03:42):
What exactly is it?
Speaker 25 (02:03:44):
They're holding it up like, I don't get it, Like
they can't just like put new language in it to
make it so he's you know, they can cut him earlier,
like all these contracts are supposedly cut and dry. So
I don't get what they are trying to change. Their
language are trying to change.
Speaker 1 (02:03:58):
Can you explain that to us?
Speaker 6 (02:03:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:03:59):
So, I had Andre Parada on the show last week.
You can find it on the podcast page. He does
a great job of explaining it. I'll bring some of
that back for our show tomorrow to talk about it. Yeah,
but the best way to describe it from my understanding
and from the report from Pro Football Focus, that it's
around default language in the contract, which means something happens
(02:04:23):
triggers a default, which means his future guaranteed money isn't protected.
So the deal in a dollar amount that's all slotted.
That's not going to change. It can't change. It's been
collectively bargained. We all know the money that is going
to be made. However, the point is if there is
something like a failed drug test or an arrest or
(02:04:46):
a suspension or something that triggers a default in his contract,
that means that his money in future years is not guaranteed.
That's the new language that is being put into the
contract that the Bengals haven't done before. All Right, this
has been done by other teams. Miles Garrett had it
(02:05:07):
in his contract. The Eagles have been known to do
this at times. It's also similar to the Carl Pickens
clause in the past, where if you speak ill of
the organization to a point, they will take away your money,
right Yeah, Which that's why to me, I have a
hard time understanding why something that is in largely in
Shamar Stewart's control, he is not okay with I get
(02:05:29):
that he's the first person, the guinea pig, a guy
that you know the other players haven't gotten a similar contract.
But to me, it seems like such a minute detail
that it shouldn't have this big of an impass.
Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
That's why, because I'm confused, because I'm looking on exter
back and forth with you and Kelsey Conway, who says,
would you sign a waiver that takes away all your
leverage if you felt your employer wasn't operating in good
faith and potentially risk an injury and the chance to
lose everything you've worked for Like that makes it sound
a heck of a lot more serious it does.
Speaker 4 (02:05:58):
That's why I'm a little bit fused, and and because
and also my impression is that the injury waiver is
signed and meant to protect you from injury so that
it doesn't affect your contract moving forward. Yeah, maybe I'm
misunderstanding it, and if somebody can better explain it, we'll
figure it out over the next couple of days. But
the way I understand it is it's about the default language.
(02:06:21):
I'm again going off the Pro Football Talk report. Uh,
And maybe things have changed since that report came out,
But if it's off default language. I think it's so
so minuscule of a detail that it's not worth fighting over.
And I think you could use that argument, but for
both sides. The Bengals shouldn't be fighting over it and
Shamar Stewart shouldn't be fighting over it.
Speaker 1 (02:06:44):
That was our last That's a heck of a lot
of just stuff that it's hard.
Speaker 4 (02:06:49):
We'll bring back a good chunk of what Andre said
to last week. He made it made sense, he made
it make sense to me. There's always a possibility that
there's way more.
Speaker 3 (02:07:00):
To it right than And maybe now with this, with
him coming out and openly talking about that, maybe that'll
lead to more of a clearer conversation as to what
this is.
Speaker 4 (02:07:09):
I mean, I already can't wait for work tomorrow, man,
because I'm just a little bit June used this June,
I'm a little bit confused about.
Speaker 1 (02:07:19):
About this.
Speaker 4 (02:07:20):
Yeah, do you think MO could help us? MO could
always help us. Next Without MO, what really is the
point of any of them?
Speaker 3 (02:07:25):
Let's try to get it from MO next on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station Thanks to Penn Station Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (02:07:32):
He continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station, it's
time for Cincy three sixty quick.
Speaker 3 (02:07:43):
You're looking for there are days and there are times
in this in this industry, or you think, man, it
might be tough around that time of the year. Normally
when you get into the Kick the middle of June,
you're like, man, we got to come up with some topics.
We've got an Ohio Cup to celebrate a four game
winning streak. We've got Trey Hendrickson's not at many camp.
(02:08:06):
Joe Burrow spoke today, and then Shamar Stewart graces us
with what he had to say today.
Speaker 17 (02:08:13):
MO top five all time favorite Bengal hasn't played again yet.
Speaker 1 (02:08:17):
Stewart's my guy, What do you make of all this?
Love love love love, love, love love love love.
Speaker 17 (02:08:23):
I mean, this is this is like, this is like
waking up and finding out that there's a second Christmas.
Right Hey, you know what, Santa Claus had some stuff
left over. He dropped it off. This is like, this
is like having divorced parents, where it's like, wait a minute,
I get I get and I had divorce parents. I
get two Christmases. This is phenomenal. Thank you, Shamar Stewart.
(02:08:46):
You are instantly my favorite Bengals player not named Joe Burrow.
Speaker 1 (02:08:49):
Did you just buy the jersey?
Speaker 17 (02:08:50):
I might buy the jersey. I don't know if he's
ever gonna wear his own jersey. Look, Shamar Stewart's position
is not incorrect. You want to establish a new president,
that's cool. Find somebody else to do it with me.
Don't do it with me. You know, Shamar Stewart's dead.
I think two weeks ago we played audio from him
appearing on a podcast where you know, he said, like,
(02:09:11):
do win the Super Bowl this year and do it
next season with a thirty second overall pick. Don't do
it with my guy. That said, if I was advising
Shamar Stewart, I'm not sure I would have told him
to do what he did just a short while ago,
because I'm not sure what that accomplishes other than give
us something that she want in the middle of June.
Speaker 3 (02:09:29):
But it's crazy because I said, on a day Trey
Hendrickson does not show up, Joe Burrow speaks here, we
are talking about Shamar Stewart.
Speaker 17 (02:09:36):
And Joe Burrow admitted today the Trey Hendrickson thing is
a distraction. Yeah, and so it's just the Trey Hendrickson
thing has some nuance to it, and I don't think
the Bengals basic position is wrong. I don't think Trey
Hendrickson's basic position is wrong. I find it ludicrous that
these two sides can't can't come together and find some
middle ground, because I think there's a lot of room
(02:09:58):
between twenty eight million dollars and forty million dollars. But
I don't think the Bengals basic premise is wrong. The
Bengals basic premise with Shamar Stewart's wrong, And if you
were in Shamar Stewart's shoes or anybody else was, I
think they would take his position. I'm not sure though,
that they would handle that. We would handle things the
way Schamar did. But the Trey Hendrickson thing has some
(02:10:19):
nuance to it. I don't know what the nuance to
this is. And the difference is. You know, Katie Blackburn
spoke about Trey Hendrickson. The Bengals aren't talking about Shamar Stewart,
so we are not hearing their side of it. But
based on what we know, based on what's out there,
based on what's been reported, and based on what's coming
from Shamar Stewart's side, I have a hard time seeing
(02:10:41):
things the Bengals way. But if the idea was to
go through this process mini camp, training camp, in the
preparation for the season with number one Shamar Stewart ready
to go week one, firing on all cylinders, and there
to be as few distractions as possible.
Speaker 4 (02:10:56):
Mission not accomplished so far here? Do you think he
handled it the way he did today? Like leveraging the
Trey Hendrickson situation, like using that as leverage.
Speaker 1 (02:11:06):
I guess what they're.
Speaker 3 (02:11:07):
Trying to do maybe, because if you look at the
the individual basis, it's okay, one off the some of
all this in an off season where you're supposed to
have a different offseason to start faster. You move on
from a veteran in Sam Hubbard in that locker room,
Trey Hendrickson's not around, your rookie's not there, and you
have a defensive coordinator going into year one installing a
brand new scheme. All of those things together would lead
(02:11:30):
you to believe that you're further behind in the off
season than ahead.
Speaker 17 (02:11:34):
I just I mean, there's a part of me that
appreciates the ballsiness.
Speaker 1 (02:11:40):
Well it started coming out.
Speaker 17 (02:11:41):
I'm like, I am not yet an employee this team.
But I'm gonna sit in their locker room at one
of their locker stalls and fire away on them, Like
there's a part of me that just says, man, I
wish I had some of those stones. Yeah, those are
some big ones, my guy. But you're right, man, I
mean like when they took Shamar Stewart and the run
(02:12:02):
up to the draft was all about they've got to
get players who can help instantly, right, And I think
it's fair to wonder how much is that compromised with
everything that he misses? Also, how weird is it, Like
Trey Hendrickson's not there, He's not showing up. This guy's
in meetings, right, this guy's like doing everything but practicing.
He's there, hanging out, He's passing people in the hallway.
Speaker 1 (02:12:23):
And apparently has the support of the players, and.
Speaker 17 (02:12:26):
That stars that's That's that's the one that I'm a
little bit skeptical of. Yeah, he may right, Burrow coming
up to him like hold your ground, But that's the
one that I'm a little bit skeptical of.
Speaker 1 (02:12:35):
Burn it to the ground, Stan Pat.
Speaker 17 (02:12:39):
I think what we would all agree with, though, is
if you care it all about the perception of the
Cincinnati Bengals, and many do.
Speaker 1 (02:12:45):
You may not, but many do.
Speaker 17 (02:12:46):
This isn't helpful. This off season hasn't been helpful. What
else you got coming up on the show, Danner? Just
fresh from Mini camp practice. I was sitting there this
morning and I'm like, all right, what interesting things can
come from Minni caamp? Like the Trey Hendrick some thing.
What new stuff is there? The Shamar Stewart stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:13:03):
What new is there? Well, now we know we're going
to give away tickets to the Big Three.
Speaker 17 (02:13:09):
Yeah, we're also going to give tickets away to a
FIFA World Cup Club Cup Club FIFA game.
Speaker 1 (02:13:16):
We're gonna do that tomorrow. What is this thing coming
up to Austin?
Speaker 9 (02:13:19):
What is it?
Speaker 17 (02:13:19):
The FIFA Club? There's a Bayern Munich or I don't know.
We have tickets to it. So we have a couple
of different games we could play. We have to sell it.
Know your Ohio Cup or know your Indiana Pacers because
I've been told this is a Pacers town. So we're
going to give our audience chances to play one of
those two games for one of those two amazing prizes.
Speaker 3 (02:13:40):
What are you expecting the date when they parade the
Ohio Cup through here, like we were able to get.
Speaker 1 (02:13:45):
The supporter shield in here. Yeah, it's a good question.
It's a good question two different visits to the sport.
Speaker 4 (02:13:50):
Is Shamar Stewart's greatest accomplishment that he overshadowed something so
large really is?
Speaker 17 (02:13:55):
Because I woke up this morning, it was kind of
like finding out uh, you know, it was kind of
like waking up in the morning after your wedding. There
was still that just like afterglow of awesomeness Sunday where
your team was emotional letdown, like man, what now? And
that's how I felt about the Ohio Cup this morning,
after really celebrating last night. The question is do the
(02:14:16):
Reds tonight? You know, what sort of frame of mind
are they? They were probably out way late clinching last night.
It's Ohio Cupah, and what kind of frame amount of
the Guardians into A good question, I asked, So we'll discuss.
Speaker 3 (02:14:33):
Will Benson, Jake Fraley, Ohio Cup lore future MVP of
the NLCS, Connor Joe.
Speaker 1 (02:14:41):
It's really amazing, you know this Tito con Joe going
to be here tomorrow. This is Tito the Magnificent.
Speaker 17 (02:14:46):
You ever watch that show John and Kate Plush. Yeah,
Connor Joe is the dad splinted that out to me.
Speaker 1 (02:14:54):
I never watched that show.
Speaker 17 (02:14:55):
Had to look it up. My wife watched that show
and I'm like, hey, does this guy look familiar. She's like,
that's the from John and eight John and Kate plus eight.
I'm like, he plays for the Reds Now no longer hair.
Those two dudes haven't been seen in the same place.
Notable Connor Joe and the Reds. They've won one more
game than they lost. Now can they take care of
business over their next seventeen games against teams that have
(02:15:17):
a combined winning percentage of five point fifty two.
Speaker 1 (02:15:20):
I think that's pretty good. Yeah, I mean bad. We'll see.
Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
There was one other John Scheran tweeted out today and
response to TJ Watten Trey hendrickson, what is the most
the franchise can lose by getting the deal done?
Speaker 1 (02:15:34):
Because at the end of the.
Speaker 3 (02:15:35):
Day, if they fall flat, as John pointed out, if
both of the players were to fall flat, neither team
has cast dropped, they would be fine. Financially, they would
be fine to get out from under it. It feels
like there's more risk if you're the Bengals to call
Tray on this bluff, than there is to actually just
pay him because you have the funds available and you
(02:15:55):
can get out from under it.
Speaker 17 (02:15:57):
I guess for me, what I want to know is
why can't the two side find some middle ground right right?
And that that requires both And you know, I've made
this point before that I if you believe the Bengals
are reasonable, and if you believe that Trey Hendrickson is reasonable,
then you think the two sides can come together with
the understanding that Trey, look, you're not going to get
forty million dollars, which he probably already knows. And you
(02:16:20):
know what, you might not get thirty six, but the Bengals,
like dude, Katie, Mike, twenty eight is not going to
cut it. The market has just.
Speaker 6 (02:16:28):
Right.
Speaker 17 (02:16:29):
I find it ludicrous that the two sides are just
apparently just dug in and here we are, We're just
gonna stare at each other until like the Friday before
the first game. Like I just I have a sense
we can like script this out right, you know, like
all week leading up to the first game. Trey's not
going to be there for the Wednesday practice and then
(02:16:49):
Thursday night there's going to be like, well, you know,
there's some movement and Trey and his agent have met
with the Bengals. And then Friday there's going to be
this like, you know, will he won't? He is going
to be on the bus to go to the airport
to fly to Cleveland. Well he won't he? And then
suddenly on Saturday, it's going to be like, well, Tray's
in Cleveland. Up they packed his uniform for him, and
(02:17:11):
then the whole sign and then it's like, wellunt pitchcount
for Trey on.
Speaker 1 (02:17:16):
One too, because he's just getting into practice.
Speaker 17 (02:17:17):
I I feel like we know how this is going
to play itself out, and maybe I'm dead wrong about that,
and if I am, fine, but why not just avoid that?
And just I want to know how often have the
two sides sat down and met and done so with
both acting in good faith and both being reasonable, Because again,
like the basic premise of the Bengals position, which is
(02:17:40):
he's a depreciating asset I understand, and Trey's basic premises,
I'm one of the best in my position at this
one specific skill set which is really valuable. Not wrong, Okay,
if we both understand that, and we acknowledge there's still
a lot of room between what the Bengals have.
Speaker 1 (02:17:58):
Offered on what Trey wants.
Speaker 17 (02:17:59):
You mean to tell me that two sides can't sit
down and spend the next six weeks hashing this out,
so you eliminate the distraction.
Speaker 1 (02:18:07):
Yep.
Speaker 17 (02:18:07):
I just I feel like we're we're gonna talk about
this for the next three months, and then on September fourth,
like Schefter is gonna tweet out like, well, you know what,
there's some movement that'll be on Thursday. It'd be right
when the first game is happening, right, And then on Friday,
will he won't he's traveling.
Speaker 1 (02:18:27):
Will he won't.
Speaker 17 (02:18:27):
He's he gonna be on the bus tomorrow, and then
Friday he'll sign it. Take another picture like that one
over there, sign the new deal. Saturday morning, get on
the bus, go to Cleveland. Next day, pitch count. Bengals
lose twenty seventeen.
Speaker 3 (02:18:38):
What a day on a day week one. They always
lose on a day that feels like a win for
for the guys on this side of the mic.
Speaker 1 (02:18:44):
Yes, one of those rare fifteen thirty one today a win.
They have a great rest of your Tuesday.
Speaker 7 (02:18:55):
Goode Cincinnati.
Speaker 16 (02:18:56):
