Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Skyline Chili since e three to sixty about
Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Skyline Chili. Stop
by Skyline Chili for a three way or cheeze coney today.
Feeling good, It's Skyline Time. This is ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Come on, here we go, Come on, come on with it.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yep, oh yeah, come on, come on this Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
It's been a week. It's been a week. We've made it. Barbecue, sauce,
whatever you want. We've made it through another one. It's
the Friday edition of Cincy three to sixty. Happy to
be here with you on ESPN fifteen thirty. It's Cincinnati
(01:08):
Sports Station. We're a service of Skyline Chili. You also
have the ability to use the iHeartRadio app to listen along.
And if you do use the app, hit that microphone.
Leave us a talk back. Because it's Friday, which means today,
we vote on a winner for talkback of the Week.
That talkbacker will get a Cincy Shirts gift card. We
(01:28):
also have soccer tickets to give away. We've got Big
Three tickets to give away. It's a day of giving
here on Cincy three to sixty. Well, said, it's a
day of giving and we look forward to doing that
for the next three hours. We'll have multiple folks join
us over the course of the next three hours. Tom
Gallaird of FC Cincinnati, the voice of FC Cincinnati, we'll
(01:51):
get a set for FC Cincinnati in New England tomorrow
on the road coming out of this brief international break
for the Orangine Blue.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Bob Man, Jean.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
You see and Novacare is going to join us because
earlier this week Austin dax Hill spoke to members of
the media talked a little bit about the ACL rehab
that he's going through. He tore it in Week five
against Baltimore. He's eight months and some change now past
that injury. He's been working on the rehab field. Obviously,
when we talk about this defense Austin, there's a lot
(02:25):
that is riding on dax Hill to come back healthy
and to be a contributing factor for Al Golden's defensive
scheme here in Cincinnati, and he doesn't even know at
this point. He said, I'm not even sure. When I
asked if he's going to be the outside corner, he said,
I'm not sure. We'll see what I come back to
it's up in the air right now, but he's getting
(02:45):
closer to recovery, to getting cleared, and we'll take talk
with Bob Manjean about what that really looks like. That
comes up in our number three as well. So Tom
Gleader and Bob Manjeen will be in our three. Our
number two will be obviously our talkbacks, our giveaways, and
Charlie Goldsmith will join us. So if you want to
(03:06):
be a part of since he three to sixty today,
the best opportunity you have here is in our number one.
If you want to give us a call five to one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty. There is an article about Shamar Stewart and
the Cincinnati Bengals with five key questions we can talk about.
It is Reds and Tigers this weekend. We've exhausted a
(03:27):
lot of our Reds conversation and they didn't play yesterday.
But it is a big series against what is at
least right now Austin the best team in Major League
Baseball in the Detroit Tigers forty five wins on the season.
They are tied with the Mets with forty five wins
as well, but right now three games ahead in the
(03:50):
win column of the New York Yankees as the best
team in the American League. If you remember, what was
it last year Austin, The Reds were red hot, and
the Tigers came into town and they just beat the
Reds down. Just remember, beat them down. I remember being
there on that Friday night and thinking to myself, like, man,
the the stadium was rocking, the vibe were high, and
(04:13):
they just completely completely changed the trajectory of the red season.
And now the Reds can go and maybe do the
same in a positive way. Red's Tigers this weekend, Nick Martinez,
get things started on the mound tonight of course. Thena
Savannah Bananas are in town tonight and tomorrow at Great
American Ballpark. That's right, Banana ball. Banana ball.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Don no, no.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
I want to pose some Savannah banana questions to you,
because I know you're not familiar with the game.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
I'm loosely familiar. I know a couple of rules, okay,
But most of the time, whenever I see the bananas,
I have no idea what's going on.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Well, here's the thing. If you're heading down tonight or tomorrow,
here are some of the notable things to watch as
it pertains to the Savannah bananas. Austin, I want you
to tell me what their best idea is after I.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Tell you these. Okay, doing this right now? Yes, okay,
let's do it. It's a two hour time limit.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Right There are to know that long drawn out games
I like, so there is there's no new innings that
can start after an hour and fifty minutes into the
game unless.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
There's a tie. Okay.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Interesting, Each inning is only worth a point, So instead
of adding up all the runs, whoever scores the most
runs each inning gets a point.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Interesting, Okay, I didn't know that last time. Yeah, I
was watching it last weekend. I didn't understand how it works. Yep.
So whoever scores the most runs in an inning gets
a point for that inning.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Now there are other points that can be awarded based
on trick plays, of course, things like that.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
How about how many trick plays does it take to
get a like a point? Because you know, I saw
they kept talking about trick One guy's like forty trick
plays on the season. Does that mean a run?
Speaker 4 (06:02):
I think so. I think I think everyone count as
a run if you make a trick play, I think so. Well,
you have the rules in front of it. It doesn't
say on the rules. Okay, well it doesn't say sense.
But it's a very unique style obviously of baseball. How
about this, as a batter, Austin, when you step in
the box, if you step out at any point, it's
(06:24):
a strike. That then you can't step out of the box.
There are no bunts in banana ball. Good According to
the bananas, bunting sucks, so they're eliminating it. Bunters not
only will be out, they'll be thrown out of the game.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
I agree with that. I completely agree with that. If
at any point now, if you're just not feeling like
playing that you drove down, throw a butt down.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
How about this, If at any point during you're at bat,
a pitcher throws a pass ball, you can take off
and take first.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Okay, okay, that's kind of fun, not bad. Sure, no
mound visits, of course, no, we're struggling in visit it. Uh.
This is the one I like.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
If a foul ball is hit at any point during
the game and it's caught by a member of the crowd,
the batter's out.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Yes, that's my favorite rule for sure. That's cool.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Rule that's cool. Uh, there's a showdown tie breaker. If
the game is tied after nine in injur or two hours,
it goes to a one on one showdown between the
pitcher and the batter. Only one out is allowed. Showdown
last until one team out scores the other. There is
a banana ball challenge rule. Any spectator can challenge a
ruling on the field. Really, yes, there is, of course
(07:39):
the walk.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Could you imagine hold up, hold up, we came on
somebody in section one thirty three over here that challenge.
I'm gonna bring that one back. No walks aloud.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
So on ball four, the hitter takes off right and
can advance as far as they can, while the catcher
has to throw the ball to every position player before
the batter can be tagged out. Now that one I
kind of like, So it's madness. So imagine ball four.
Catcher's got to get the ball, throw it the third
who throws it, the second who throws it, the short
(08:12):
it does it, the first it throws up the pitcher.
Every position player has to catch it before you can
tag the runner.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Yeah, so that like that's kind of cool because like
the way they run in they run towards each other
to make the throws shorter. Yep, it's kind of fascinating.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Also, the Golden Battle rule, a team can send up
any batter to hit in any spot in the lineup.
This obviously guarantees the best possible matchup at the end
of the game when it matters most. If you're following
along to some social media accounts.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
That was talked about with Major League Baseball one. How
about that? So there are the rules.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
Ring ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Banana ball, banana ball that those are the rules which
one speaks to you the most.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
I really like the the fan catching a foul ball
is now because especially in Cincinnati now, I don't know
what the crowd is going to be like. But I've
been to a pretty decent amount of games this year.
We can we can pick a little bit. Thats fans
can play a little defense, So, you know, I I
think having an impact on the game as a fan
(09:24):
is pretty cool. Any uh?
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Any guess has any idea on who you think some
of the the Golden batters could be.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
I have no idea. I couldn't tell you one guy,
you know. I what I find interesting is that they
have a couple of other teams that they play against. Now,
two of them are brand new, I think, the Firefighters
and the Texas Tailgators. But the team that they tour
with primarily are the Party Animals. Yes, and you know,
(09:54):
kind of like the Washington Generals that played the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Party Animals when I w when I saw last weekend,
they have like a comfortable lead over the Bananas this season.
They've already clenched the season series. No kidding the Savannah
Party Animal.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Now here's the thing. It's not the Party Animal Animals.
It's the Texas Tailgaters coming into town this weekend. Oh
so the Texas Squad's coming in. No Party Animals.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
The other thing that I found interesting well watching this
a little bit, was that there were people in the
stands that they had chosen allegiances by wearing Party Animals stuff.
So it's not like you just get everybody wearing yellow
and they're all Bananas fans. There are like Party Animals
(10:41):
followers that will gell and obviously we'll see how it
turns out this weekend with the Texas Tailgaters, but these
people that maybe follow them around a little bit, they
got some party animal gear on or some Texas tailgater gear.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
The old tailgaters. I think that's kind of interesting. So
that's happening this weekend at the ballpark. Hopefully the weather
holds up for folks going down, because by all accounts
it does look fun.
Speaker 8 (11:05):
It does.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Yeah, And you know we haven't every year or every
city they go to, they have like a surprise guest,
usually a former big leaguer from that town. Last weekend
in Charlotte they had Andy Dalton and Adam seeln.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Had two nights, and I think the other night they
had Greg Olsen, had Jonathan Stewart.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Had some like legends from the Panthers. I don't want
to spoil any surprises. I don't think it's a surprise.
But Todd Frazier spotted last night downtown Cincinnati. Yeah, he
and his wife have posted some things on Instagram. His
wife tagged the bananas a couple of times. Seems to
me like the Todd father could be playing tonight. Now
(11:50):
does he play for the Nanas? Oh yeah, for the
tail game.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
See.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
I would imagine Todd being used as that Golden Battle rule.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
At some point. That does make sense.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Now as to which night. I don't know as to
who the other because they won't use him both nights
in a row. So you know, we we we talked
about this back and forth. Joey Votto seems like a
perfect guy to do it. It would be great, and
recommended one through the freaking smoke stacks. Can you imagine
(12:20):
he hits one through the smoke stacks and then folks
are like, well, he looks like he's in good shape,
bring him back for another year.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
I guarantee you that would happen. It wouldn't happen on
this station, but on that station down the dial, they
would be saying that, and then on the Facebook they'd
be saying that too. But yeah, man, I hope people
have fun. I hope the weather holds off. It does
look cool, and it's always good to bring something like
this to Cincinnati. The economic impact, especially on a weekend
when the Reds are away, I mean, think about people
(12:47):
like our friends down at the Holy Grail, like they
weren't thinking that this weekend was gonna, you know, Father's
Day weekend, that they're going to have a bunch of
business down there, and then boom boom, here come to bananas.
So this is big time stuff. It's like getting a
big concert or Taylor Swift for sure. God forbid the
Clones in the EHL playoffs. They seem to sell tickets
everywhere they go. They're selling out NFL stadium, so it
(13:09):
should be fun and hopefully all those attending enjoy. Scott
Sloan told me earlier that they make fifty thousand dollars
a year each player.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Oh that's it. Yeah, I feel like they're raking in
money right now. I mean fifty thousands a lot, I
feel like. But I feel like lot more than I make.
I feel like the Savannahs as a whole just from
march alone or selling a lot.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Oh, I'm sure, but you think about how many people
are on each team twenty five thirty? Sure any traveling
costs merch? Yeah, social media.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
It feels like the guy that runs the bananas when able,
will take care of all the players, you would think,
I think so. A couple other stories going on around
the sports world. How about the Stanley Cup Finals Game
four last night? Did you get to see any of that?
Speaker 5 (13:55):
I did. I watched my good first two periods and
and then I went to bed. I'll say this, the
first period It looked like two different teams on the ice.
The Florida Panthers looked faster, more dominant outside of Connor
McDavid because when he skates, it looks like he's skating
with like a different pair of skates. But the Panthers,
(14:17):
at home, already up to one in the series, went
up three to nothing in the first period, only to
watch the Oilers score three in the second. Both teams
scored in the third, including the Panthers tying it up
with under a minute left in the game, only for
the Edmonton Oilers to win it in overtime. There have
been four games played in the Stanley Cup Finals, three
(14:39):
have been overtime games, both teams have won on the
opponent's ice, and that series is now tied, going back
to Edmonton where Game five will be tomorrow. Game four
NBA Finals again. What is it? The Indianapolis Pacers, that's.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
What you call thee Yeah, Annapolis Pacers are six and
a half point underdogs tonight, even though they have a
two to one series lead. Folks just do not buy
into the Pacers winning this series. If you had the chance, Austin,
because I know that we don't. There's not a ton
that followed the Indiana Pacers. But if you could go.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
To Game four, apparently there are though, Yeah, that's what
I've heard this week. Yeah, when when I was thinking
about this, you have Cincinnati connections to the Pacers. Not
only are they the closest Lance Stevenson played, they're born
ready Lance Stevenson, David West. Yeah, uh for a long time.
Obi Toppin still there, ud guy, So like I can understand, well,
(15:40):
there's some Pacers and you know, back when the Bearcats
were good at basketball twenty five years ago, that's when
the Pacers were really good. Yeah, So well I could
see there'd be some connections there. If you had the
choice to check out the Bananas this weekend or go
to the NBA for tonight. It's got to be the finals, right.
That one gets us stupid question.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
There are people out there that don't that just dislike
the NBA that may say the bananas. But the people
here's the thing, you're over one thousand dollars just to
get into the arena time. The people who constantly complain
about the NBA don't watch the NBA. Like I'm serious,
Like you can tell correct. The people who complain about
(16:22):
what the NBA is. Ask him the last time they
watched a game. They'll tell you, I don't watch it. Well, then,
how do you know what it looks like?
Speaker 5 (16:29):
Sure, you're going off of an idea of what you
think the NBA what is, or what you saw one time,
or what one player said. You don't know what it is?
Speaker 4 (16:37):
True, that's fair, but Finals game four tonight, the.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Bulls really should let Billy Donovan talk to New York Knicks.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
What about this Austin A crazy day yesterday for the
Bulls can be firmly defunded, denied by everyone. How about
this Aaron Savale is a picture for the b was
a picture for the Brewers, Yes, and they wanted to
use him instead of starting in the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
And he said, I ain't doing that. Trade me.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
I went out of Milwaukee and shout out to the
Brewers because they honored his trade request, and they traded
him to the White Sox.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
What do you think, saval? He's thinking right now, so
I don't have the mouse shut, I don't have to
move that far away is probably what he's thinking. He's
going to a team where he's not expected to do anything,
and I get to live in probably the best summer
city in America, Shytown in Chicago. So I don't think
he probably cares. I mean, he obviously was putting himself
before the team anyways, so he doesn't care about winning. Yeah,
(17:37):
he cared about winning and probably would.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Have you know, State went to the bullpen to the bullsaid, Uh,
there is someone obviously that cares about winning with the
Milwaukee Brewers. Have you seen or heard what Jacob Missowski
did yesterday?
Speaker 9 (17:49):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Boy, have I ever Jacob Miserowski take a listen to this.
This was last night.
Speaker 10 (17:55):
He looked pretty normal in that opening inning to too
swing on the mess and can Tray goes down on strikes.
First big league k for Jacob Miserowski and against Wilson.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Contreras Chase Petty in his first career appearance against Wilson
Contrez he had a three run homer. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
But uh, Misowski went five innings last night Austin and
didn't allow a hit. Yeah, walked four, struck out five. Now,
he was already at eighty one pitches, so he might
not have been able to go all nine to try
to get the no hitter. But he didn't even get
into the sixth because after a pitch he rolled his
own ankle.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
He was actually after three pitches. Yeah, he had gone
three to zero on this guy and just stepping back
on the mound had this kind of goofy looking stack.
Guy rolled his ankle, and then they went and came
and got him, just to be safe. I think he's
gonna be okay, but it was just what a way
to get pretty embarrassing. Now here's what was interesting. I
(18:55):
had seen that the Brewers were throwing a no hitter,
and it was right as intermission was happening in the
Stanley Cup Finals, So I flipped over to watch Milwaukee,
and I had got there right as the new picture
was coming in after this injury, and they were saying
that if this new picture that comes in walks the batter,
he starts with a three to zero count. If he
(19:17):
walks the batter, the walk goes to Mizerowski, but if
he strikes him out, it goes to him. Oh man,
I did not know that I learned something.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Last Okay, So that was happening in Major League baseball.
How about what's going on in the NFL. Former NFL
wide receiver Antonio Brown, the law enforcement in Miami. Dade
County is seeking to arrest Antonio Brown on the charge
of attempted murder. This charge stems from a shooting that
(19:46):
Brown was allegedly involved in during a celebrity boxing event
in Miami last month. The warrant shows a charge of
attempted murder with a firearm. Also instructs Antonio Brown to
post a ten thousand dollars bond and remain on house
arrest until trial.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Good.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Nothing about Antonio Brown's post playing career has been good.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
I almost didn't know about this because he his name
is like he's you don't how mo Mute's words. Yeah,
Antonio Brown's one of mine. Yep. I do not care
about that guy. I think he sucks. I have no
interest in him. Obviously. He's a problem child in a
lot of different ways. So hopefully justice has served to
(20:25):
whoever it's supposed to be served to him or someone
else swiftly. Finally, us open is happening right now.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Sam just quit shooting at people, man, correct? How about
Sam Burns today? Six under on the day? Wow, four
under for the tournament. He's only through fourteen holes.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
Well, he just bogied the fifteenth, So he's three under
the day. He he's tied for second with Victor Hovelind
and under today. What's Lawrence's first name, Trevor Thristin. Thristin.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Yeah, I'm just gonna stay with Trevor JJ spawn Tea's
off at twelve fifty two. He's the leader from yesterday
and the only player in the field to not log
a bogey yesterday. Unbelievable. So I got a bit of
an issue. I got the stream on in here on Peacock.
Are you watching it in there?
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Yes? Okay, So whenever I need help from our listeners here,
whenever I watch Peacock on this TV, it doesn't work.
Oh well, it works, but it's like really choppy, like
every second. Yeah, like if I if I watch a
guy put a ball, the ball will just go and
(21:33):
whether it goes in the hole or not. Okay, And
I've reset the Roku. I've undownloaded the app and redownloaded
the app and logged out and logged down. I've done
everything I know to do. If anybody has an answer
to make this thing quit being so choppy and laggy,
please provide answer, because it's hard to watch it is.
It is a couple other spots Brooks kept US two
(21:55):
over today.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
He's even on the tournament. About Victor Perez. Third hole today,
he threw a snowman out there but looks like me,
but just threw in a hole in one on a
par three. Okay, so shout out to Victor Perez. He's
at plus one right now, there only one.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night now, and
I already had a snowman that day. There are eight
golfers under par right now in the whole tournament. I
like the Open.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
I do too. Yeah, Scotty Scheffler's not having an easy day.
I think he's now at five over, which is the
projected cut right now, he would miss the cut. He is, uh,
I'm sorry, he's up to four. So he's at the
cut line right as we speak. But a lot of
big names in golf right now well over par or
(22:44):
projected to actually miss the cut at the US Open.
We'll keep those updates going, but when we come back,
phone lines are open five to one, three, seven, nine,
fifteen thirty. Let's put to bed the week that it
has been for Shamar Stewart. What we know, what we
don't know, and what's going to happen going forward next
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks to our
friends at Skyline Chile Loegar.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
There was some booing of the team last night.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
When it comes to sports those he's got something to
say for just natural byproducts.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
And plenty of it of poor play.
Speaker 11 (23:16):
Loegar today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Maxed out on credit cards, struggling.
Speaker 12 (23:22):
With Hunt.
Speaker 10 (23:25):
Jackson Cheerio now.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
Slide out of center is way that and it is good.
Speaker 10 (23:39):
Jackson Curio's got a dozen homers and the Brewers have
broken in wide open.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
That was a call last night Milwaukee Brewers Radio Network
as Jackson Churio Curio six tw WTMJ in Milwaukee, Cherio
went deep. Brewers beat the Cardinals six nothing. Saint Louis
losers of five in a row to five in a row.
Are the Cardinalies losing? They have lost seven of their
(24:09):
last ten in Cincinnati. Now just one game back of
Saint Louis and the NL Wild Card race, and a
game and a half back of the Milwaukee Brewers in
the National League Wild Card.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
Okay, we do have a little bit of a change
for tonight's Reds game in Detroit. Originally, the Reds were
supposed to face Keeter Montero.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
What'd you just call him? Keeter Montero? All right?
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Who on the season for the Detroit Tigers has started
in six games. Heater and had an ERA of four
three to zero. They are no longer using him tonight.
They're going to go to brant Herder. Who brant Herder?
Speaker 5 (24:50):
You know his middle name? What cheap?
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Mmmy good? Brant On the season. Brant On the season
has appeared in nineteen games. He's only started two.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
Let me guess he's a left hander. There you go,
there you go. So there is are easy to defend.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Yep, he's a relief pitcher, so he's not going to
go deep into the game. But he is a lefty
with a one seven to five e R. So the
old opener, I think. I think you're gonna see more
teams do this in an effort just to make Red's
hitters show that they.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
Can hit off left handed pitching. By the way, couple
of instances for the Tigers against Nick Martinez where he struggled.
Riley Green is one for one against him with a
two run homer. Colt Keith also one for one against
him with an RBI. There, Catcher Rogers one for one
(25:48):
against him with an extra base hit, and Glaber Torres
labor Day is one for two with an extra base
hit off Nick Martinez as well. So the Tigers have
seen Nicky tight pants pretty well.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
We will we'll dive into this Shamar conversation when we
get back to we get back on the clock a
little bit. One other thing I was gonna ask about
the Open because you mentioned that you love how challenging
it is for these golfers. Do you think it ever
gets to a point for the golfers where they enjoy
more of the challenge probably, Like, are there any of
them that are like, man, this is this is tough
(26:23):
and they appreciate that. Other than being able to go
out and shoot like eighteen under.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
Probably they're probably just an entirely different mindset on the
course than what you're used to. So yeah, I would
say that's pretty cool. I think so too. By the way,
your pal Jason Day two under today, come on j
Day and he's still like four over for the time.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
All right, four under the that's the cut right now?
Four over, Yeah, four over is the cut right now?
Watching John Rahm right now, he was cruising and then
he went bogey bogee, double bogee.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
By the way, our Revivefitness Systems dot Com PETS question
presented by Revivefitnessystems dot Com and coach PJ. Street. How
many games will the Reds win this weekend in Detroit? Zero, one,
two or sweep three? Right now? Fifty six percent say one.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Do you know what that would mean? That would mean
a series loss. That would also mean a five hundred Monday.
Oh my god, Reds thirty five and thirty four. I
don't know if I could do that. I don't know
if I could do our fifth five hundred Monday. But
that's what's at stake the ballpark in Detroit this weekend.
We will be back. Let's h again. I mentioned this
(27:28):
before five questions around the Shamar Stewart situation from an
article today of you know, just kind of putting out
there what we know at this point, because there's been
so much information that that you try to take in.
Let's recap the week that was with Shamar Stewart. Next,
since he three sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,
a service of Skyline Chile.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Hey Alexa. What's going on in baseball?
Speaker 11 (27:51):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 7 (27:55):
Skip the ties and tools this Father's Day, give him
what he really wants A day at.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
Oh ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Hey, welcome back since e three sixty. It's ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of our good friends at
Skyline Chile. Anytime you're feeling good and hungry, it's Skyline
time tone.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Before we get into the Shamar Stewart conversation, quick update
for you from Akron for the second year in a row.
Absolute heartbreak for the Baden Rams. Oh Baden walked off
in the ninth oh No to lose two to one
in the state semi final. Brutal, brutal.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
We shared our poll question thanks to our GUYPJ Street
and Revivefitnessystems dot com on how many games the Reds
will win this coming weekend in Detroit. Did you see
the question that Dan Patrick post today.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
His poll question about mentally disturbed or physically disturbed?
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Would you rather be physically fragile or mentally disturbed?
Speaker 5 (29:06):
I would rather be physically fragile because I think I'm
already mentally disturbed. I would trade for a second.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
I think I know that physical I think you already
are both yeah, well mentally not all there. We already
know that. I don't know as Shamar Stewart is. He
ain't mentally well he he physically wasn't he is. So
here's what happened after after everything transpired this week, Ben
Baby and Jeremy Fowler got together let's go love those guys,
(29:35):
and they threw together five questions on the Shamar Stuart
situation and the Cincinnati Bengals. And I thought, Austin, why
not just recap what we know at this point and uh,
and kind of put this to bed for this week.
So their their first question, what is this dispute actually about?
(29:57):
According to sources with knowledge of the negotiations, this sticking
point is language in the contract that could void guaranteed
money in future years. For instance, as we've talked about,
if Shamar Stewart were suspended for an on field reason
such as leading with the crown of the helmet, that
could eliminate future guarantees. Interesting, so that's an aspect we
(30:17):
hadn't talked about yet. We've talked about drug test or
trouble off the field or comments about the franchise. But
if he were suspended for on field tackling issues that
could eliminate future guarantees makes sense. That's obviously something that
is a player you want to say, I want to
be protected against that. As far as to what you're
(30:40):
hearing around the league, Staredown currently has quote no end
in sight, which brings people around the league to a
familiar refrain. That's what we've talked about, Same old Bengals. Right,
Bengals are going to standoff with Trey Hendrickson, who, after
leading the NFL in sacks, has vowed not to play
under his current deal. Atlanta Falcons all pro Jesse Bates
(31:02):
left the Bengals in twenty twenty three after contract disputes.
One prominent NFL agent said quote, they are comfortable with
the uncomfortable. They just don't relent when it comes to
the Bengals front office. According to Jeremy Fowler, Stewart and
his agent, Zach Killer apparently appear similarly dug in, which
(31:22):
could create an entertaining summer. As multiple teams have pointed out,
Stuart is in a difficult spot because a lengthy holdout
jeopardizes a young pass Rusher's trajectory. But they also said
that cooler heads usually prevail around training camp. So I again,
I go back Austin. You get the same refrain, same
old Bengals, but you also get a team that is
(31:44):
comfortable with the uncomfortable and doesn't relent when it comes
to these situations.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
If you think that this is same old Bengals, you're ignorant.
This is not same old Bengals. This was born out
of them not being the same old Bengals because they
typically do not guarantee money past the first year. They
(32:12):
haven't had such a strict default language in the past.
But now because they are and because of the way
rookie first round contracts are structured, they are looking to
protect themselves in the back end of these deals. Sure so,
Kelsey Conway on these airwaves with moe Egger said the
(32:34):
other day that there have been three demands Shamar Stewart's
camp has made and the Bengals have allowed to They've
conceded two of them. So there's got to be a
little bit of word.
Speaker 9 (32:48):
Now.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Listen, if something to me, something like getting suspended for
leading with the crown of your helmet, to me, that's
too far, I wouldn't want to sign that. What I
want to know is are these case by case things
being negotiated at all? Is Shamar's camp saying on field
(33:11):
stuff we don't want in there, but we're good with,
you know, a suspension, We're good with the drug test,
we're good with this, blah blah blah blah blah. Or
are they saying we don't want this language in there? Whatsoever?
Is there a specific difference between because I'm sure Mims
has some default language as well, but maybe his is
(33:32):
more specific than Chamar's.
Speaker 9 (33:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
But is there at least conversations on the case by
case basis or not? That's what I would like to know.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
The third part of this goes into the situation and
its uniqueness to the Bengals. When asked, it says it's
kind of unique to the Bengals. The Bengals have examined
similar language for other rookies around the NFL and believe
the contract is now the standard rookie deal. Part of
Stuart's disagreement is what we've talked about. The Bengals are
(34:03):
trying to set a precedent with this year's draft class
regarding void language and guaranteed money. Stuart, for what it's worth,
is not the only unsigned Bengal draft pick. Demetrius Knight
is also not signed, but he did sign his participation
waiver and has participated in mandatory mini camp. Now there
are currently three unsigned first round picks from this year,
(34:26):
Day Brown, Jaday Baron, the Denver cornerback currently unsigned, Shamar Stewart,
and Travis Hunter is still unsigned with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
So here's where it gets interesting.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
Maxwell Harston signed his least Yes, here's where it's interesting
for me, Austin. What are the options for Stuart? What
are the options for the Bengals.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
The Bengals hold Shamar Stewart's rights, but the bargaining agreement
signed between the league and the NFLPA allows for several
scenarios that could play out.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Here they are.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
If the Bengals fail to sign Stuart by August fifth,
thirty days before the start of the regular season, the
Bengals can't trade him. The next major deadline is November eleventh,
very similar to the franchise tag. If Stuart has not
signed his contract by then, he is then ineligible to
play for the rest of the year. And finally, if
(35:19):
Shamar Stuart never signs and sits outs the season, he
can re enter the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, where
every team is eligible to pick him except the Cincinnati Bengals.
If Stuart were to test NCAA rules and attempt to
return to college or play in another professional league, the
Bengals would retain his right, So that part is interesting
(35:40):
to me. It's not like Shemar could say, well, I'm
not doing this, I'm gonna go back to college and
make millions of dollars in nil. Ben Baby asked Shamar
Stewart about these scenarios on Tuesday, and he said, I'm
not aware of any of them, so that at least
hasn't been talked about. What was the date November? What
November eleventh, same as the similar to franchise, So.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
That's like it's after week ten, So that's the same
deadline essentially for Trey Hendrickson. Correct if he is not
signed by then, or doesn't show up or hasn't played
or whatever it is, then his contract tolls to next year.
We just restart this.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Do you think there's anything that the Bengals or Shamar
Stewart would do, because The first scenario is if the
Bengals fail to sign him by August fifth, they can't
trade him. Do you think there's a crazier scenario where
the Bengals say, Okay, sign this and then we'll just
trade you.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
No, I don't. I don't either Bengals. I don't think
they would do that. All of those scenarios benefit the Bengals,
with the exception of him re entering the draft and
they can't take him so they basically lost the first
round pick. Like, all of those really benefit the Bengals
in some way except that one. I just I can't
(36:54):
see at the end of the day, I can't see
both sides here looking at this and saying, all right,
this isn't worth the fight. Yeah, whether whoever concedes, whether
it's the Bengals or him, at some point it's not
worth it for either side. There has to be a
middle ground. We have a month and what two weeks?
(37:18):
Five weeks, yeah, five weeks total until training camp starts.
There's got to be something there. Lastly, Bengals also have
like seventeen days until they got to figure out this
thing with the county too. As far as I'm sure
that's taking over some brain power as well as far
as what the Bengals have said, Zach Taylor said, there's
still time to get work in. I'm excited for him
(37:39):
to do that. Ted Carris is in an interesting spot
from a NFLPA standpoint. He's the vice president of the NFLPA.
He said that there is no resentment in the locker
room towards Shamar Stewart. Ted Carris knows why Shamar Stewart
has been so adamant to protect the guaranteed money because
Ted ca Carras said, it's very nuanced. From an NFLPA perspective,
(38:00):
we always don't want language and contracts that are going
to be negative to players. As far as guaranteed money,
we're always trying to maximize the amount of guarantees that
guys get. So everything that has happened this week has
led to kind of those five bullet points of where
things are at as it relates to Shamar Stewart going forward. Now,
(38:21):
none of that negates what Shamar Stewart said about the
organization on Tuesday. None of that changes any of that.
I think that's an interesting dynamic to all of this
When you talk about the organization in a negative light
before you've put that helmet on on a field. That
to me is a very interesting strategy for a rookie,
(38:42):
to the organization, to the fan base as well. Let's
take our final break of our number one. We'll fit
in a phone caller to next five one, three, seven,
four nine, fifteen thirty. This is since he three sixty

Speaker 11 (40:19):
Getting ESPN is fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Welcome back, It's just our number one since he three
to sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station Charlie Goldsmith
will kick off the second hour with us on what's
been a very busy week both Reds and Bengals. For
Charlie Goldsmith will get caught up with him next. We
do have a couple of moments here to open up
the phone lines. Mark is waiting to talk to us.
Speaker 5 (40:49):
What's up, Mark, Hey, how's it going?
Speaker 13 (40:53):
I love it samars towards agent. You know, I'm giving
a big kudos to him for spotting that language that
wasn't right, and I'll hope he sets it out and
it goes back into the draft next year. Somebody needs
to come along and stick it to this family real
good and make them change some of their ways about
(41:16):
how they go about, you know, dealing with players, because
I've seen this back in the eighties when they drafted
Ricky Hunley and he he never signed and they ended
up having to trade him.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
But the problem would be Mark, if you are Shamar
Stewart and his representation, you you're risking throwing away eighteen
million dollars over the course of that language. If you're
a if you're deeper into the draft, maybe, but do
you think that from an agent standpoint, you can throw
(41:53):
eighteen million dollars at the table away.
Speaker 13 (41:57):
I'll get your point, don't get me wrong. I mean,
that's a lot of money to leave on the table.
But I look at it from you know, somebody's got
to come along and take a stand. I mean, you
got to. You got to give up something to get something.
They want to make They want to set that contract
(42:17):
up so they can take money back from him. That's
the part I don't like about. I don't like. I
don't like the way they're trying to deal with him
simply because they didn't do it with nobody.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
Else do that across the NFL.
Speaker 13 (42:33):
I don't care about what the other teams do. I
care about what my team does. Do you do you
care about what other radio stations do?
Speaker 7 (42:42):
Yes?
Speaker 13 (42:42):
Or do you care?
Speaker 5 (42:43):
Absolutely? Of course I pay attention to what other stations do.
Speaker 13 (42:47):
Absolutely, But you should care more about what your stations
do as opposed to what the other stations does. Because
care about the place you work for.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
Yeah, of course. But I can use the information that
others give me to make myself better. That's what the
Bengals are doing here. They're protecting themselves. And as we
said earlier, they've already conceded to two of Shamar Stewart's
three demands. There's give and take in negotiations.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Right, But I will say, in a situation as they
as Ben Baby and Jeremy Fowler stated, if there's something
in the contract that says, hey, if Shamar Stewart leads
with the crown of his helmet and he gets suspended,
then we can void future guarantees. I think that sure
is something that's absolutely ridiculous and that would need to
be pulled immediately, Like if you're trying that then yes,
(43:36):
But but again, we don't know every detail. All it
is is what his side says versus what the other
side says, and in negotiations that can become very hard
from a public standpoint because we don't know the exact
parameters around it.
Speaker 13 (43:52):
Okay, we'll get off and listen to the rest of
the show.
Speaker 5 (43:55):
Thank you, Mark, appreciate you listening. What I find interesting
is the fact that Gray's Abel and Walter Nolan, according
to Paul Dayner Junior, at the exact same clause, exact
same language.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Has that been used for years though with those teams,
I don't know, because I do think the language is
necessarily what's stopping them. I think it's the it's the
point that the Bengals are trying to do it and
set the president with Shamar, because for me, that's that's
what I take that article with with with Jeremy Fowler
(44:29):
and Ben Baby, because all along Shamar Stewart has said,
I just want what those guys had if if A
Marius Mims's contract included those defaults. I don't think we're
here right now. I think Shamar has already signed. I
think what they're saying is, hold up, wait a minute,
we're not okay doing what others. You're not setting a
precedent with us. You can set the president next year.
(44:49):
I think that is more the hold up to, whereas
with the other teams it's this is how we do contracts. This,
this is what you're gonna sign.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Yeah, Well, precedents aren't set without somebody going first. Yeah.
And I think at the end of the day they're
saying it's not gonna be set with us, all right, Well,
I mean you don't really have any control over that.
Well they do. I guess they know what they're doing now.
They say, there are you going to walk away from
eighteen million dollars. I don't know. They have no leverage.
If there is any leverage here, this is where I
(45:16):
think the Bengals screwed up. You could have done this
with somebody else. To your point, somebody else could have
been the guinea pig Amarius Mems Miles Murphy because this
whole guaranteed contract thing and the slotted it's been around
for years, correct, and I'm sure there is a portion
of something like this in those other deals, but the
(45:39):
way the contracts are structured might be a little bit
different for the Bengals moving forward. They should have known
the Bengals that because of all the negative pub they
got around the Higgins thing and the Chase thing, and
they've already getting and are getting and have gotten and
will get over Trey Hendrickson. Now is probably not the
time to get in a fight with a first round
pick over something like this. I think that's a totally
(46:01):
fair criticism of the Bengals, and when it comes to optics,
and certainly with the flexibility they have in the cap
in the future, this probably isn't worth the headache for
them right now. That being said, somebody has to be
the guy who goes first.
Speaker 4 (46:16):
What I find fascinating about the situation as a whole
is so many people are conflicted, Like we've talked to
people that are like it. Chamar is in the wrong,
the Bengals is in the wrong. Richard Skinner yesterday said
that this is more of a problem with the Bengals
and not Chamar. I don't recall something like this that
has been as divisive or put people on opposite sides
(46:37):
of the fence more with the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (46:39):
I think it's one thing to say the Bengals shouldn't
have done it this year. I think it's another thing
to say that Bengals shouldn't do this at all, because
I think they should. I think it's fun. I don't
think there's anything nefarious about it. I think it's just
poor timing. And to Shamar Stewart's credit, he understands in
his camp understand that with the backdrop of the Hendrickson conversation,
(47:04):
the need that they have at pass Rusher and negotiating
through the media and through optics, that's their best leverage,
and so they are maximizing that sure becoming a storyline
by leaving Mini camp screaming and crying to the media.
The other day during the open locker room and the
backdrop of Trey with how bad their defense was a
(47:26):
year ago. That is the only leverage they have and
they are maximizing it to their credit. I just don't
know if it's worth all this.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
We got Charlie Goldsmith waiting to talk to us. That
will kick off the second hour of Sincy three to
sixty and then your talkbacks on the SBN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station on the whole of the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (47:50):
Thanks to our friends at Skyline Chilly.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Cincinnati, make us the number one preset on your car

Free never sounded so good. ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 5 (48:02):

Speaker 1 (48:05):
Since E three to sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Welcome back our two since he three sixty on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to Cincy Shirts. Let's
get right into it. Each and every Friday we get
a chance to talk to our good friend Charlie Goldsmith.
What a week it's been. Charlie is staying busy yet
he can still join us. Now, Charlie, what's going on?
Speaker 8 (48:37):
Man?
Speaker 6 (48:39):
I have a question. I've always wondered this that ding?
Is that for a factor? Does that actually put me
on the air?
Speaker 5 (48:45):
Oh see, I don't even say our our listeners can't
even hear that that is that is just you. That's
so you know that you're live.
Speaker 6 (48:54):
Interest. So like the Dan Patrick share, they do play
the ding. So I just assume that you played the
ding here, But I just I just heard that go
behind the scenes.
Speaker 5 (49:01):
Here there you go. Maybe we can start playing the ding. Yeah,
LEAs just see if we can find some sort of
a dang for you, Charlie.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
Everyone has an opinion as to what's going on to
Sati Bengals. It's been absolute madness this week. From where
you stand, what's your take? Your personal take on the
Shamar Stewart situation as it relates to the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (49:24):
It's not news that Shamar Stewart hasn't signed his contract yet,
especially when you look at the h the recent history
of the Bengals and how these rookie contracts haven't been
signed early when you look at the fact that there
are some guys around the league. The story here is
twofold won the lack of ability to have any sort
of like you know how some teams just never have
(49:46):
easy wins. The Bengals just never seem to have easy
wins aside from Ted Carris's contract extension last year, like
this is now what you come to expect, and then
kind of the side that's received the most focused and
I think understandably. So it's sure because this isn't as
much of a story. If Stuart decided to practice like
most guys who haven't signed. You if Stuart had decided
(50:08):
to not say the things he did with the media
on Tuesday, had he not decided to leave on Thursday,
those things make you ask, why is Schamar doing something
different than basically every rookie in recent memory. Well, he's
out on a limb, and it's an aggressive stance from
a guy who doesn't necessarily have the type of experience
to be taking the stance he is not just in
(50:30):
terms of who he is as a rookie, but you
look at just the whole setup, it makes you wonder
why Schamar's making the decisions he is because they're negatively
impacting his perception.
Speaker 4 (50:42):
What I think we haven't spent enough time on is
the impact that this has as it gets into the season,
because here it is a new defensive coordinator, a new scheme.
Trey Hendrickson has not practiced at all with that new scheme.
Shamar Stewart has not been on the field, and I
know that they've taken the mental reps, but we've talked
a guy like Dakzille has yet to be out there
as well on a defense Charlie that was bad last year.
(51:07):
How do how does the sum of all of these
parts impact what Al Golden has or hasn't been able
to do up to this point.
Speaker 6 (51:16):
I'm curious and I think I have a link here.
When you look at the schedule for training camp and
the lack of joint practices. You had Zach Taylor talking
about the big emphasis of six days of padded work
between the first and second preseason games. What that sounded
to me was a coach who feels like the Bengals
need that time to install a defense, and not that
(51:37):
they'd be doing a joint practice if they had more
of their pieces around them right now. But the Bengals
are preparing this offseason, as they've said, you know, to
kind of focus on themselves. The offense doesn't matter. The
offense could could just do walk throughs between now and
September and that'll all be rolling just fine by the
time we get to September. But the defense and the
(51:58):
importance of that time what they need to insults, the
lack of pieces that they've had on the field during
these summer workouts, like, all of that adds up and
kind of puts more on their plate for training camp.
Makes you wonder how this might impact kind of the
defensive end battle for that number two spot, which is
going to be a fascinating one between Murphyosi and Stewart,
(52:19):
who will all play, but one of them really has
a chance to pop. So all that adds up for
a defense very much in flux.
Speaker 4 (52:26):
What this week has done, Charlie was kind of taken
away from the actual mini camp happening on the field
because so much of attention was Trey Hendrickson and out
there and what Trey and Shamar Stewart said, I'm following
along with you. By all accounts, Joe Burrow looked elite
over the course of mandatory Mini camp. What else stood
out to you that was actually happening on the field
(52:47):
that maybe we didn't cover as much because of what
was going on off the field.
Speaker 6 (52:51):
I think you have to start with Burrow, Like at
this point last year, he was literally babying throws in
because that's where his risk was at. I think the
story of Joe Burrow season this year. Last year was
the plays on the move out of structure, the flips
and tosses to all the guys just before he took
the sack. I think this year is going to be
You'll see and get the get rid of the ball
(53:12):
slightly quicker. Sometimes you'll see that aggressive zip between defenders,
like that ball to Jermaine Burton which showed up on
social media, that ball the Yoshivash which showed up on
social media. I expect Burr to be making more of
those throws this season. Arm strength for fair and not
fair has always been kind of the Hey, you know
how Burrow's arm strength, Well, well, I think that's in
(53:32):
a great spot. And then a couple of secondary ones
Andre Yoshovash and Chase Brown don't have the stature in
the league that Tyler Wood and Joe Mixon had when
they were doing their thing and playing their best football
in Cincinnati. But I think they're officially those guys like
their roles their priority. The way they're scheming things for
those guys, I think they've elevated into that status. They're
(53:56):
going all in on Demetrious Night. They like a lot
of what they've seen behind the scenes. He's kind of
taken a lot on his own, kind of lea orte class,
and he can be a part of the immediate day
one voice of the defense. They think that's happening. I
think it was a productive spring from a leadership standpoint
for Jordan Battle. I think Sig Newton maybe more than
any of these guys, but he has more to prove
(54:17):
on the field to become that guy. He has to
show that he's ready to play at a certain level.
But if he does, he's showing that hit factor, which
is something you'd like to see. And then this defensive line,
it's a massive flux and kind of you still don't
know what you don't know with that.
Speaker 5 (54:31):
Group you mentioned Jordan Battle, I think safety is one
of those positions people are wondering if the Bengals will
address between now and the start of the season. What
did you learn, if anything, about the safety group through minigame?
Speaker 6 (54:46):
It's funny like and you're not gonna like what I'm
about to say. They really like Dayson as a three
and Tyson of the four. They think that's a good
three to four now is and I think Jordan they
see the player on the rise. I think they want
to see what he can really do as a starter
in a different scheme that doesn't place him in such
a rigid box as LeWinn or remote schem did for
(55:06):
better or for worse. I think Jordan would be a
good number two. And then obviously they don't leave Geno
Stone as the number one. They ask them to take
a pay cup. We all saw the same film last season.
You know, you can make the case that Ginostone is
needed the number two safety, but that's where they're at.
So if they can get a safety that's better than Genostone,
of course that's something that would improve the team. But
(55:28):
it's something that I haven't felt as a priority. And then,
you know, I don't think they feel like they need
to get someone just to be their third guy, because
I think they'll want to give Dejon and Tyson the
chance to show that. So I think safety is the
biggest concern I have on the roster, even more than
guard That's where I'm at with this defense. Now, they
(55:49):
can overcome it and they can mask it, certainly, but
that's something that's going to be in the spotlight, not
in training camp. September through January, maybe you're into February
is where quarterbacks will be outlanding this safety play. And
if they make plays, the Bengals will probably make the
Super Bowl. And if they don't make plays, well, they
could be fitting winning somewhere between eight and eleven games.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
While all of this was happening, Charlie, at the same time,
it felt like the Reds had gained some momentum. Just
when you kind of feel like things are bleak, they
pull off five wins in a row. Now, that stops
short of a season sweep of the Guardians. But what
have you learned about this Cincinnati Reds team without Hunter
Green that's been able to find a way to strength
(56:31):
some wins together and get back on the right side
of five hundred.
Speaker 6 (56:35):
Think you're seeing them kind of slash their gloves. Matt McClain.
I think McLain deserves more conversation about the impact that
he's making defensively. We've talked about him here every week
and what he hasn't been doing at the play, but
what he's doing defensively is notable. Ellie has to improve.
Ellie's making positive plays as well, and I think is
an above average shortstop who just makes too many of
(56:57):
those bang your head against the wall plays. But I
think there's something in there for on the positive end
when you evaluate his defense. I think thees has shown
has kind of raised the athleticism of the corner endfield
after he's returned from the injured list. TJ. Friedel Man,
you can't say enough about TJ friedel and just the
baseball rat that he is. And then you saw Freley
(57:18):
the other day. Benson's arm has.
Speaker 5 (57:26):
Oh oh, oh, oh, there he is. We lost you
for a second time. You started talking about Will Benson's arm,
and then we lost you for about four seconds.
Speaker 6 (57:34):
Well here here you go. Will Benson his arm I
think made a step this year. I think he's still
just an average defender, but the arm has helped him
make a couple more plays. And then Stevenson, I think
your team continued growth from so the defense has helped.
You've had like one guy get hot now and then,
which has helped. I think they are what the record
says they are right now, not what the run differential
(57:56):
says they are. But but let's see these guys play
and see if these you know, Steer, McClain, mart w
he comes back, Cees, Let's see if these guys have
a run in.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
Feels like the return of Christian and Carnascio and Strand
has changed things for the lineup as well. How how
much how in need are they, Charlie, of a power
bat in the lineup that can offer some type of
consistency game in and game out. I don't know if
that's Cees in the long run, but you certainly saw
the lift that it gave this team when he's sitting
three home runs in three games.
Speaker 6 (58:27):
So I was doing some research right before he called me,
because the Tigers are starting a left handed opener today
ahead of their right handed starter, and it's the fourth
time that's happened this year against the Reds. The left
handed opener and starters have a two EARTH and those
openers have a two point four or five ERA against
the Reds in those innings and that's true. Comorant Daniel Lynch,
(58:49):
Steel Hall, and Issert. I'm forgetting his first name in
Chicago because he's not a very prominent pitcher like those
are not Greg Maddox, and the Rights are struggling to
hit those guys in the first inning this year. I've
got the numbers right here. Ellie against left handed pitching
in the first inning has a two nine to five
OPS and Freedom has a seven to eight OPS. And
(59:10):
Freedom's is fine, but that's not quite to the level
you'd want from your leadoff hitir against the left handed pitcher.
So what the thene is is the Reds need their
two left handed stars to score early for this team
to be good, and teams are trying to attack that
neutralize that. If you have a right handed power back
who strikes some fear in you, uh oh, this guy's
(59:32):
coming up, that changes team's willingness to start a game
with the left handed opener to manage the bullpen in
a specific way, or it punishes you if you put
those left handers in. So the Reds need that type
of punisher. Ces. I still need to see more from Ces.
I need to see how he kind of holds up athletically.
(59:54):
He's been banged up in the past. Let's see how
he continues to move. He's when he's gotten fatigued, overcompensated
with his mechanics, and that's why you've seen him kind
of go on kind of downslides when he hasn't been
one hundred percent. I'd like to see Cees make that adjustment.
If he does, then this is the forty homer hitter.
(01:00:14):
If it's Cees, if it's Haze and I know that
that injury situation hasn't gone swimmingly, or if it's some
on the Reds trade for that from the right handed
side well, or if it's Matt McCain or Spencer Steer
who they thought it would be who I'm not giving
up on either, but both have had poor seasons. That's
what the Reds need in this lineup.
Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
What did you make of Hunter Green going to get
a second opinion on his injury and when can we
expect an update on him?
Speaker 6 (01:00:42):
Yeah, the line I got was Hunter is going through
his process very similar to what he did in twenty
twenty three when he had seven when he had hip
stiffness that kind of reached to the back. There's history
with this, there's experience with this and his Hunter going
through his process, and that's part who he is. It's
(01:01:03):
not how every pitchers handle it. You know, person Spires
didn't go through his process. But I believe Hunter is.
I believe Hunter wants to pitch. I believe that very strongly,
and I don't see any Red Flagger concerned with that.
When will they're being update? Well, let's see how the
process continues. You know, We'll see if there's an update
today and see how that goes forward.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
What about Austin Hayes, because it felt like in Cleveland
he was nearing a return and then it felt like
a little bit of a setback. Where where do things
stand with Austin Hayes.
Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
Yeah, that sou ball got him kind of on the
I guess the best way to describe it is like
that circle bone in your ankle. If he has not
what I'm talking about, which is a that's like a
tricky one. It's a big change of direction one too,
kind of a flexibility of the foot. So understandably after
he ran, he spoke about the direction changing being the thing,
(01:01:52):
and especially with his history of ham string cast issues, problems, injuries,
quad they don't want to rush him, and then they
came over compensate and then have him strain one of
those soft tissues. So they've gone through a couple extra steps.
It doesn't sound like the one on Wednesday went great.
And we'll get another update on Hayes today.
Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
What do we know about Chase Burns his first appearance
in Triple A Louisville and what the Reds want out
of him as a Triple A pitcher.
Speaker 6 (01:02:21):
Well, I think he walked as many guys as he
walked in all of his Double A starts, but that's
to be expected, you know, more advanced hitters. The biggest
thing I took was, and I think this is really
what you should stress. He was pitching on four days
rest and he's still through eighty six pitches. So not
that there were so there weren't like, there wasn't a
short leach. There wasn't a super watchful eye, and that's
(01:02:45):
what you want to seek and Chase. You want to
see him go through the nuances of being a professional
pitcher on a five day schedule, and then how he
looked it in his debut. I mentioned the walks, but
but still you can turn on some of the sequences,
and it's as pressive, as impressive as anything you'll see.
He's as good as any starting pitching prospects in baseball
(01:03:07):
over the last couple of years except for Paul Schemes. Like,
there's so much to like and be thrilled about there. Now,
let's just let him keep pitching as opposed to rushing
him to the big leagues.
Speaker 5 (01:03:19):
On top of that, Jamber Candelario is in Triple A.
He's not really performing. Well. How do you see the
Reds handling him over the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Well, first, and I think this is this is the answer,
which is just right now. I think they're going to
give him the maximum time. Let's let him play and
even still, like I mean, he's competing for Connor Joe
for a spot, let's say theoretically on paper, plus Jamer
has the flex and not competing, not that there's a competition,
but that's what it would be. And if Jamer can
(01:03:50):
play third, like, that's that's something that you just I
don't know, would turn your head at, specifically, especially when
you look at Joe's lack of production. I'd like to
see another opportunity for jam Er at the big league level.
Even though he's shown nothing this season, he's been terrible,
But I mean last summer he did get hot, he
(01:04:13):
still did show power potential in twenty twenty four. Now
this year, his bat speed's been down, he's not as explosive.
He struggled at third base. I want to see if
the injury helped him catch up with any of those things.
And it's not like, you know, he's taking Christian and
karnacion strands spot on the roster or Spencer's Hears spot
on the roster. So let's give him time. Let's see
(01:04:35):
if he gets hot, Let's see how he'd fit in
a bench roll coming back. I am interested to see
kind of how he looks physically when he's ready to attend.
Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
Lastly, Charlie, are we not somehow talking enough about how
good Andrew Rabbit is and what the ceiling can be
for Andrew Abbitt.
Speaker 6 (01:04:53):
Andrew Rabbit is. I think he literally just turned twenty six,
Like we forget about that, Like people think that Andrew Rabbits,
this twenty eight year old who has not been around
but one on the top prospect, kind of grinded to
get to where he is. Well, No, Andrew Rabbitt was
I believe the first pitcher from his the first starting
pitcher from his draft class to debut in the big leagues.
(01:05:15):
He was dominant for stretches to start the season in
twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four, and then he
fell off. And he has made significant changes to his diet,
to his overall fitness, to his shoulder, arm care, all
the stuff he does between starts that I'm really buying into.
And he's well set up, like he is set up
to be the kind of guy who's crafty and pitches
(01:05:36):
until he's forty. And he's also a guy who's, as
we're seeing now and as we've seen the last two years,
has a feeling that he can reach. So what I
like the most of that complete game is he is
a guy who just by the nature of him just
flies under the radar. Well, complete game, shut Up kind
of gives him that moment that was kind of the
first moment of his career that will be like they
(01:05:56):
remember when Abbot did that, And that's pretty cool to
see for a guy who definitely deserves it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
Charlie, always appreciate U getting to talk to you. Always
appreciate your time man, have a have a great weekend.
We'll do it again next week, guys. Yes, Charlie Goldsmith,
fantastic stuff. As always, Reds Bengals. All you need to know.

Have been killing it all week long as always, We've
had a great time down here.
Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
Smiles were made, pockets are lighter. We're on our way
back to the NKY.
Speaker 4 (01:07:21):
Shout out to Cavman because it's one thing to spend
an extended weekend. You get down to Pigeonfords for a week. Man,
you're living.
Speaker 16 (01:07:27):
Right, Hey, Scott, Happy Friday, everybody. Instead of talking about
the action for the Bengals, we've been talking about the
distraction for the last two to three months. Getting a
little old, Bengals getting a little old, get these contracts signed,
(01:07:48):
we'll good to talk about the action.
Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
Well, good for God is that Charlie Goldsmith gave us
everything that happened actually on the head.
Speaker 6 (01:07:55):
Of the James making it on the DP shit for
like two seconds.
Speaker 5 (01:07:59):
Man, make time now congratulated. I miss that.
Speaker 12 (01:08:03):
That's fried. I got a good down on fry fouls
Hank kill here and well how about I'm going to
tell you what more. The Friday edition just hits a
little bit different, boy Ty, I got my new grill
coming today, all jacked up about that. Red's gonna get
(01:08:24):
the sweep against those Tigers, and everybody have a good
god thing weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:08:30):
Face the meat, not the heat.
Speaker 9 (01:08:31):
Love it.
Speaker 17 (01:08:34):
Hey, guys, I'm curious the clauses or whatever Samar Stewart
Camp is upset about in his contract. Alright, do you
think those same causes are in effect to the other
guys they drafted in this year's draft class? Those guys
have signed, that they've showed up. It's just something that
is a problem for a first round drafted because of Leilani.
Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
Yeah, the money's locked.
Speaker 9 (01:08:55):
The kind of confused on that.
Speaker 17 (01:08:56):
The other guys seemed to be okay with it in
the draft class, but Schmars Camp visn't.
Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
Yeah, the money's a lot different. The money are different
the first round picks, it's all pretty much the same.
I don't know if he's talking about the Bengals draft
picks the rest of their draft class. That obviously the
money is different, but it's the same language for all
the other picks, basically. Paul Dana reported about that the
sixteenth pick and the eighteenth pick had the same causes
in their deals and they signed. Have you guys seen
(01:09:25):
the new adaptation to The Jungle Book. The Bungle Book
Joe Jamar stars Migley and that Happy Bear.
Speaker 7 (01:09:30):
Singing Ben necessities, edge tackle, guard, tight end, Pretty please,
ben necessities of life.
Speaker 15 (01:09:37):
But Mike and Katie plays share Khanna at Evil Snake
costs singing the wrong song.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
We are Sias who like to squeeze. We are Siamese.
Speaker 18 (01:09:46):
If you don't pee right, Jungle Book fan, Hi, dude's
Brandon from Anderson get right, head on down for some
banana ball brand listen. As the son of the unofficial
president of the Andy Dalton Fan Club, Please do not
bring him out for a game of dodgeball tonight. I
know it's been a while, but I like when they
(01:10:06):
boot him out of GADP at the MLB All Star
Game weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:10:10):
That was unfair.
Speaker 18 (01:10:11):
Anyways, bas he was already used baseball team, not a
comedy club.
Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
They used him Charlotte. That's all we were saying. But
by the way, booing works, Andy had the best season
of his career.
Speaker 19 (01:10:23):
After that, It's lovely and happy Friday. Yet tomorrow night
we have the UFL Championship DC Defenders against the Mission. Really,
and I for one had no idea this was even
going on five minutes ago. Okay, so my question for
you guys is why, in a football obsessed country, when
we have the option to follow this league outside of
(01:10:45):
the timeline of the NFL. Does no one care about
it at all? Myself included. Have a good weekend, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:10:51):
It's a good question.
Speaker 7 (01:10:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:10:52):
I love football more than anything on the planet, and
I can't pull myself. I think it's just because the
distance makes the heart grow fonder. When college in the
NFL are away, everybody needs a little bit of a
break so that they can actually live their life because
when football season starts, it all revolves around football. I've tried.
Speaker 9 (01:11:10):
I can't get into Friday.
Speaker 8 (01:11:14):
Wood.
Speaker 20 (01:11:15):
Would taking the family going up to Detroit to catch
tomorrow up another stadium off my list and enjoying Father's
Day weekend. We're gonna be there when the gates get open.
I'm curious what my strategy should be. I have my
seven year old Ilo with me. Should I go straight
down third baseline, get up and close with the boys,
or do we go out to the outfield and try
(01:11:36):
to catch some right VP, have a great weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:11:38):
I always want to get the VP, go catch a ball. Yeah,
I'll be there on Saturday as well.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:11:44):
Now, the Tigers have something really cool. They have like
almost a little amusement park inside their stadium for the kids. Wow,
there's like a merry go round and like all sorts
of stuff. So maybe maybe take them over there the kids, man,
maybe you know, let them get that out of their
system before the baseball starts. But I'm a VP guy
as well.
Speaker 15 (01:12:04):
Yeah, you know, I'm sure he is fully aware he
could be a bust in the NFL.
Speaker 9 (01:12:10):
It's not college football no more.
Speaker 5 (01:12:11):
This is the big leagues.
Speaker 15 (01:12:12):
Injuries happen, career ending injuries, Like I get it, go
out there and get that guaranteed money may be the
only shot you have without the NFL.
Speaker 9 (01:12:21):
We're you gonna do work at costco.
Speaker 15 (01:12:22):
I mean, the fact that Travis Mummer has not signed
you it doesn't surprise me one bit. But I'm sure
they'll get things worked out and at the end of
the day, it'll all be fine.
Speaker 9 (01:12:32):
Trey Henderson.
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
All right.
Speaker 21 (01:12:36):
So, as a Bengals fan, I feel like the worst
thing about this whole Antonio Brown situation is that we
get to once again watch the replay and relive the
Vantes hit in the playoffs, Because every time this guy
does something stupid, somehow it's Vrontes's fault. It goes back
to that hit. There may be some truth to that,
but at some point this guy has either got to
(01:12:57):
get some help or be ill responsible for his own LAS.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
Yeah he is. He's passed the help now of he's
getting held responsible.
Speaker 9 (01:13:05):
He did.
Speaker 22 (01:13:07):
Talk back matters guy, Hope you've had it a good
week Friday week?
Speaker 23 (01:13:12):
Great?
Speaker 22 (01:13:12):
Hey, I just wanted to chime in on the whole
Samar trade to the Let's Go. I mean, the Bengals
have saved a lot of money, and I feel like
they've done the cuts and made the cuts and all
that stuff to help pay t Higgins. But there's still
cap money there, so I don't know, cheap, I don't
(01:13:33):
think so. I mean they were twenty second in D.
Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Yeah, I mean they I think they had like the
third most money spent of the cap space last year,
something along those lines, So I don't I don't think
the cheap thing works for them anymore. Hey, guys, how
you doing today? Ryan from Ryan?
Speaker 24 (01:13:55):
You guys heard Charlie I believe in and Bengals podcast
is pretty good. I'll listening at the small him. Yeah,
what happened to Spencer Steer's power man? I thought he
hit over twenty five home runs last year. I don't
remember last time he'shit a home run injury. Let's hope
Martinez can pitch against this uh be dominant and pitching
(01:14:16):
against his Tigers lineup today, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (01:14:20):
Yeah, the concern for Steers definitely power, but he's putting
some good at bats together.
Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
Man.
Speaker 25 (01:14:26):
The NFL is so boring, and it's it's unwatchable, you know,
even the playoffs it's you know, I personally don't watch it,
but you know, just just trust me, bro, It's it's
all they do is shoot threes and there's no defense.
Speaker 5 (01:14:41):
They make too much money. They're trying to get into
all sorts.
Speaker 25 (01:14:45):
Of woke and just shut up and dribble, all right,
And anybody who's watching it now, they're just drinking that
kool wad.
Speaker 5 (01:14:53):
Okay, trust me, bro, you know what that was. Now
he's making fun of the people I was making fun
of earlier. That's what they sound. Just one I wish
early hobby followed the attorney. I don't know many day
I got there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
Put in more babies in hours.
Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
Thank you, Thank you, I noticed, thank you.
Speaker 26 (01:15:11):
Thank you, Tony Austin George of the Valley. So there
is zero percent chance you're ever gonna make me believe
that the language of that contract says, if he puts
his helmet down and hits somebody illegally, we're taking all
his money. Nobody believes that this kid, this kid's an idiot.
Speaker 5 (01:15:30):
All right, Yeah, I personally don't believe that either. But if, like,
is it if he gets suspended for doing that? M h,
so multiple infractions would have to happen. That makes a
little bit more sense.
Speaker 27 (01:15:44):
Hello, this is Winston in unincorporated Butler County. The problem
with the Bengals is perception is reality. They are perceived
by the general public to be more than difficult to
work with. Sure when it comes to signing their players.
(01:16:05):
I believe they're they're perceived by players to be more
than difficult to work with.
Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
I don't know who's right, who's wrong? Perception? All right?
Thank you? Uh Winston.
Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
By the way, that was Ben Baby who reported that
the dispute could or was about on field reasons such
as leading with the crown of the helmet.
Speaker 6 (01:16:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (01:16:22):
Was that?
Speaker 6 (01:16:24):
Is that?
Speaker 5 (01:16:24):
Was that used as an example? Is a potential thing
or is that?
Speaker 23 (01:16:28):
Like?
Speaker 6 (01:16:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
The quote was.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, the
sticking point is language that could void guaranteed money. For example,
if Stuart were suspended even for an on field reason
such as leading with the crown of the helmet.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
Yeah, so there's a lot of on field reasons, not
just leading with the crowd, of similar penalties that could
eliminate guarantees, like a personal foul, like if you know
what Miles Garrett did and swung that helmet at Mason Ruflf,
that sort of I could avoid guarantees. Yeah, all right,
that was our last talkback. I have here one, two, three, four, five,
six finalists. Let's go six for the Sincy shirts. Gift God,
(01:17:02):
we're gonna do it now. Yes, let's do it now.
We're gonna do it right now, Let's do it now.
Speaker 28 (01:17:09):
Chris Fans, I don't know why. It doesn't even matter
how hard you try.
Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
Keep that in mind.
Speaker 28 (01:17:14):
I designed the team to compete in due time.
Speaker 5 (01:17:18):
Catch is a valuable thing.
Speaker 28 (01:17:19):
Never gonna spend, don't want to contend, try to move
on wasted head leads just to watch him go go.
I try so.
Speaker 29 (01:17:29):
Yeah, no.
Speaker 30 (01:17:36):
Man, so good dj L part time Pike brother, HODI
hope you those doing well. I was shocked this weekend.
You hear these things, these slithery little snakes. A lot
of people call them these omless wizards, diamondbacks. Some people
know them as red handle them quite well. To get
back to five hundred. You know, there's something beautiful about
(01:17:59):
five hundred. Maybe that's what our country needs right now,
you know, not too good, not too bad, just five hundred.
Maybe we win this one, the Reds will be back
to five hundred coming.
Speaker 5 (01:18:10):
It's very good.
Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
Another turning point of it is moving on.
Speaker 30 (01:18:17):
Germaine is leaving, but the Bangles carry.
Speaker 6 (01:18:22):
He picked off card just to seal.
Speaker 30 (01:18:25):
That playoff game home moment edge in stress forever in
his name if something was predictable.
Speaker 6 (01:18:35):
But in the end, this rite, Jermaine, you help us
have the time of all life.
Speaker 5 (01:18:41):
Man, that's beautiful. That's my leader right now. It's good.
That's my leader.
Speaker 12 (01:18:46):
Cincinnati is in Kentucky. Oh wow, Well, I'll tell you
that one really smarts. How will we ever recover from that?
Speaker 5 (01:18:54):
I got a.
Speaker 12 (01:18:55):
Batter one for you. Cleveland is in Cleveland, yes.
Speaker 29 (01:19:01):
True, Now, oh, hip is the best receptacle for de
la Cruz, Benson, Friedel and Espa in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (01:19:12):
You need a pair of spectacles.
Speaker 9 (01:19:14):
If you see that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:15):
Cup in your grasp. A Ohio Cup has not been
so portable since twenty fourteen.
Speaker 27 (01:19:21):
This series is horrible, just like old Tito, who is
so adorable.
Speaker 19 (01:19:26):
Freddy Beacon kissed that brasscott so good.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
Oh won the Cup? Uh Huharty, and let's.
Speaker 30 (01:19:37):
Have a party.
Speaker 29 (01:19:39):
Let's have a party.
Speaker 9 (01:19:42):
I love you, oh Hio Cup.
Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
We looked you up. Proceed the party, Proceed the party.
Wo good. Yeah that's hard. And he had a two parter.
Speaker 23 (01:20:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
My My top three and no order were uh Trump,
Jermaine Pratt, and Red Solo Cup. But I always I
gravitate if it causes me to want to join in
and sing sure, which is kind of what the Red
Solo Cup did. And I'm a huge Toby Keith guy.
Yeah that's true. My vote is Red Solo Cup.
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
All right, let's give it to Yits win Cup, our
winner as the reds win the Ohio Cup championship. Congratulations,
yits yeah, yits yits. We got tickets to give away,
let's go. Yes, we got tickets to give away, Yes
we do. Here's what we're gonna do. Tell them about
the tickets. First, what are the soccer tickets? Soccer soccerer
(01:20:48):
Hamana howmana.
Speaker 11 (01:20:49):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:20:49):
The soccer tickets are coming up this Wednesday, c F
Pachuca against FC Salsburg in the FIFA Club World Cup.
And the other tickets are Big Three basketball tickets coming
to Heritage Bank Arena on July the twenty sixth, Big
time stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
Uh, here's what you get to do. Phone lines are
open five to one, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty.
The third caller, we'll get to choose which tickets they
word call it. The third caller today gets to pick
their tickets and uh. After that, the rest of the
callers on hold will answer a trivia question. If you
answer it correctly, do you have the question? I got
the question ready, all right? If you answer it correctly,
(01:21:27):
then you get the other tickets.
Speaker 5 (01:21:28):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:21:28):
The third caller didn't choose five to one three fifteen thirty,
We want a ticket giveaway? Next on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to Cinti shirts, you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:40):
Can see three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's
Sports Station.
Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Welcome back. It is since e three sixty. As we
are winding down our number umber two. Fear not, Tom
Glaid is going to get a set for FC Cincinnati
this weekend. Bob Mangean Toma is going to join us
to talk a little bit of a dos Hill conversation
with his injury, and Austin and I will have quick hits.
Mike Petrelli is in for Moegar today on The Moegar Show.
(01:22:17):
So that is setting you up for the third hour.
But for now we've got to giveaway to do Austin. Now,
our third caller, Yes, was given the opportunity decide between
Big Three and soccer tickets. What did our third caller decide?
On our third caller, our good pal Jamie from Kentucky.
He has chosen the FIFA Club World Cup tickets okay,
(01:22:39):
which will be this Wednesday at TQL Stadium. FC Salsburg
and CF Pachuca. A little Mexico versus Austria coming up.
So Jamie is getting those tickets, which means Joe, Jared, Miles,
Carlton and Aiden are competing for the Big Three basketball
(01:22:59):
tickets coming up next month July twenty six. Heritage Bank Center.
A bunch of legends in there, including Lance Stevenson, born
Ready Born, Ready, blowing in people's ears. Stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:11):
Just lost to one on one game to to Beasley,
did he really Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:23:16):
They played for one hundred grand. That's embarrassing. He lost?
All right, So we start with Joe. Hello Joe, Hello Joe, Joe.
Where are you calling from today?
Speaker 9 (01:23:27):
Florence?
Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
Joe sounds poised, He sounds yeah, focused, Ready to go?
Speaker 8 (01:23:31):
Joe?
Speaker 5 (01:23:31):
Are you are you going to Banana Ball tonight?
Speaker 17 (01:23:34):
I am?
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
Actually yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:23:35):
Okay, Well tonight. Well here's the thing, Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
There are rumblings and if you follow social media, that
the Todd, the Todd father, Todd Fraser was in town
and his wife was posting pictures tagging the Savannah bananas.
And it got me thinking to one of the coolest
nights I've ever had at the ballpark, which was the
twenty fifteen Major League Baseball Home Run Derby where Todd Fraser,
of course won. He beat Jock Peterson in the fire finals.
(01:24:00):
And what I need from you, Joe? How many home
runs did he hit in the finals to secure the
twenty fifteen Derby?
Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
Oh jeez, We'll go twenty three good guests show have fun.
Tonight we go out to Jared in Liberty Township. Jared,
do you know?
Speaker 9 (01:24:19):
Oh, I was at.
Speaker 23 (01:24:21):
That and as a matter of fact, I do remember
I believe the lucky number was thirty nine in total.
Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
How many did he hit in the finals. We're just
looking for the final round.
Speaker 23 (01:24:31):
Oh final, Oh god, guys, I'll go with.
Speaker 9 (01:24:39):
Fifteen.
Speaker 5 (01:24:40):
He got it, he got it, he nailed it. I
think he was just throwing it at the wall there
and he got it. He nailed it. Fifteen big flies
in the Big Fly derbyled. Yeah. I mean that that
basically counts been to guy and me both. That's what
people say all the time. Where were you sitting that night, Jared?
Speaker 23 (01:25:03):
So, I was behind home plate, but upper deck, and
that plates was shaken. It was awesome, awesome.
Speaker 5 (01:25:11):
All right, Well, what do you know about Big Three basketball?
Speaker 13 (01:25:16):
Uh?
Speaker 23 (01:25:17):
It's three on three. There's a ten foot hoop and.
Speaker 9 (01:25:25):
Half court, half court and ice cube.
Speaker 23 (01:25:27):
I think ice cube is somehow involved.
Speaker 5 (01:25:29):
I think he runs the whole thank he owns it
like he's part of his big thing. But I've been
to these Big Three games before. They're actually really fun.
Yeah friendly, Oh yeah, sure, why not. You get to
see multiple games as well, So enjoy it, Jared, Stay
on hold, Jared, I'm gonna get your information.
Speaker 13 (01:25:47):
Awesome thank you, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
There's Jared right there all right.
Speaker 4 (01:25:50):
Now, if you remember that that Derby was when baseball
tried something new, you remember that, I do.
Speaker 11 (01:25:57):
So.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
It was a single elimination bracket style competition, so each
round was timed instead of number of outs. So in
the first round Todd knocked off Prince Fielder. In the
second round he beat Josh Donaldson ten to nine, and
then beat Jock Peterson. In the finals, Jock Peterson knocked
off the number one seed, Albert Poolhols, and that as
(01:26:19):
well pool Joel's pool Hols, Chris Bryant. He was healthy
enough to do an All Star game, which was crazy.
Jack Peterson, Manny Machado, Josh Donaldson, Anthony Rizzo. Dude, that really,
I mean, that was a tough draw for the Todd father.
Prince Fielder as a seventh seed was not easy.
Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
If I remember correctly, Fielder like barely showed up. Yeah,
he just kind of packed it in a little bit.
So there you go. There we go. Shout out to
Jared Man. All right, I'm gonna get Jared's information. Why
don't you entertain the country. I'll get Jared's informator. You
get Jared's information real quick. As we discussed coming up
in our number three, Tom Gallaider will talk f C Cincinnati.
Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
F C Cincinnati's obvious. He's been on an international break.
That break is over. They take on the New England Revolution,
who they did beat this year. I've seen Cincinnati beat
New England on April fifteenth. I don't believe New England
has lost since then. Five wins, four draws after that,
it was it is brought to the attention earlier the week,
(01:27:19):
Dax Hill spoke after a mandatory mini camp about his
ACL recovery. He's now eight months out, a little over
eight months out from the ACL injury. And we've talked
a lot about Trey Hendrickson not practicing. We've talked a
lot about Schamar Stewart not practicing. We've talked a lot
about the new scheme that Al Golden is installing.
Speaker 5 (01:27:41):
Well.
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
Dax Hill has yet to be cleared to return to
practice now. He has been through all the meetings, he's
worked on the rehab field. But an interesting, I think
piece to all of this that is going to play
a large part in what the Bengals can do is
is what Dax Hill is able to become Obviously, he said,
made the move to safety, started playing better. Now the
(01:28:03):
conversation is moving him back to outside corner. Dax Hill
said he does not know at this point how he's
going to be used, But at the same time, there
is a difference of getting cleared at the NFL level
to return and getting cleared to actually return to football activities.
That's kind of where Dax Hill stands right now from
an ACL standpoint. So we'll have Bob Manjean join us
(01:28:25):
from Novacare to talk about Dax Hill and ACL injury.
Speaker 5 (01:28:29):
So that will be fun as well. What do you
got to plan this weekend for Father's Day? What are
you expecting?
Speaker 4 (01:28:34):
I have no expectations, family, I have no expectations. What
I do know is it's supposed to be a pretty
wet weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (01:28:44):
Storm chances this afternoon, storm chances tonight, scattered showers and storms. Saturday.
I mooted yesterday. I moted yesterday, scattered showers and storms.
I'm actually going to talk to you about something that
I witnessed mowing the lawn yesterday. Oh boy, you can
do that in quick hits.
Speaker 6 (01:29:01):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:29:01):
I have a last year for Father's Day. I got
my dad a card, you know. I wrote a real
nice message in it and everything, and I forgot to
give it to him when I saw him on Father's Day,
and so I put it my book bag and I said,
I will give this to him next year. I'll save
myself five bucks on a car since it has been
there ever since, and I have it ready to go.
(01:29:23):
You still feel the same way I do. I read
the message this morning to make sure nothing's changed, and
it's all. It all still checks out, so you know,
I don't. I don't know if if he's listening, he
knows now, but he doesn't. You know, he's going to
really love it. Yep. And you know he never said
anything about a misscard last year, so maybe he didn't.
(01:29:44):
That's where diet it. I sent it, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 6 (01:29:47):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:29:47):
That's the other thing. You know, My my birthday was
what almost a month ago now, and my mom said
she sent me a birthday card. Of course it's got
money in it, you know how has and I haven't
gotten it yet, you know how. And I'm even I
even have like that USPS advanced thing sure where like
it'll send you an email with all the mail you're
supposed to get that day, not even in there has
(01:30:08):
it showed up. They're sneaking up on a month man. Okay,
so figure it out. USPS.
Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
I want to talk, I'm gonna cut talk about in
quick hits. We've got a lot of mailmen out there.
Did you see male people in Blue Ash the car
that flipped over because of the cicada? I did, Yeah,
the cicada throwing the window and I mean no one
was hurt, and Blue Ash police had a laugh with
it by saying the suspect flood the scene. But I
didn't see that drive around with the windows out, Colley,
(01:30:38):
just be careful out there. A couple other quick things. Uh,
Caitlin Clark is back. Let's go see see back from
injury as Uh. She's going to play tomorrow night against
the New York Liberty who have started the season nine.
Speaker 5 (01:30:52):
And oh the Liberty are awesome. Liberty very fun to watch.
Speaker 4 (01:30:55):
They beat the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark ninety to
eighty eight the first around here you go, So something
to keep an eye on. And as we check in
at what's happening at Oakmont before the end of the hour, Austin.
Right now, Sam Burns is leading, tied for the lead
JJ spawn first Bogy of the Round. Okay, he is
(01:31:17):
three under as well. So by the way, quickly revivefitnessystems
dot Com. Poll question presented by our Vivefitnessystems dot com
PJA Street, how many games with the Reds win this
weekend in Detroit? Fifty eight percent say one?
Speaker 5 (01:31:29):
There it is.
Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
That would be a five hundred Monday. Our three is next.
We're gonna kick things off with Tom gallairder on Cincy
three to sixty. Thanks to our friends at Cincy Shartz.
Thank you for listening on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
Tubbs fresh cut fries and lemonade. It's all about good taste.
Pennstation East Coast subs order online today. This is ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 4 (01:31:55):
Welcome back, Sincy three sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,
Our number three. Thanks to our friends at Penn Station.
Thanks for listening in. Uh, it's Friday, It's our three,
which means it's time to talk a little FC Cincinnati
the Orangine Blue with the voice of f C Cincinnati,
Tom Gallander, is joining us right now.
Speaker 5 (01:32:15):
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, what's up.
Speaker 9 (01:32:17):
Tony, Tony, Tony, Happy Friday.
Speaker 7 (01:32:20):
We made it to the middle of June. It's gonna
be officially summer here pretty soon. It's pool season. Uh,
forget what the weather looks like this weekend, it's gonna
rain like thank you, thanks, thanks, doom and gloom over here.
Speaker 9 (01:32:33):
Would not be positive on a Friday and lift it up.
Speaker 7 (01:32:35):
And get the second half of the season started on
at a couple of road games coming up. But uh, yeah,
what's up, Tony.
Speaker 4 (01:32:42):
You know, we we've talked about this and and you know,
I just wanted to bring to light the journey because
at times, you know, especially when you you're coming off
of a little bit of a break like f C
Cincinnati has, it's good to look back. Did you ever
imagine when I was charting plays as the six string
quarter back at the University of Cincinnati watching others and
(01:33:02):
you were reporting on the sidelines. Could you ever have
envisioned the trajectory that you've taken from the FC Cincinnati
standpoint and being able to talk on a Friday on
a radio show to me who's now not charting plays
but talking into the microphone.
Speaker 9 (01:33:17):
Yeah, I mean, you think about it. I was the
sideline reporter for the football.
Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
Team when when you made your debut right against Oklahoma,
and Oklahoma after Dustin got hurt and and you come
in and then then obviously the big game the next
week against Miami.
Speaker 9 (01:33:35):
I don't think any of us could have imagined that
we'd be here on Friday afternoon at two o'clock. And
you know what, what's that?
Speaker 7 (01:33:41):
That's two thousand and seven, right that that that game
against Oklahoma. Yeah, so that's now eighteen years ago, right,
almost eighteen years ago.
Speaker 5 (01:33:51):
Uh, that we get on that Charter high home and.
Speaker 7 (01:33:54):
You know, if I'd been sitting there, you know, with
Jim and Moe and in the back.
Speaker 9 (01:33:58):
Of the bus, you were up front probably for classes.
Speaker 7 (01:34:00):
Oh yeah, but you know we were we were we
were squeezing the back of the bus back there. And
if if Dan and Moe and and Jim and I
had talked the way back and Moe leaned over said time,
I'm going to look into your future. Here in eighteen
years every Friday at two o'clock, you and and Tony
play the young fellow from reading who just came into
the game and completed more passes to Oklahoma and into
(01:34:22):
your young guys, a.
Speaker 5 (01:34:23):
Couple of drops.
Speaker 9 (01:34:25):
That's messed up. There was, there was, there was, You're right,
that's not fair.
Speaker 5 (01:34:28):
That's a cheap shot. That crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:34:29):
You and Tony in eighteen years are going to be
spending your Friday afternoon. It's talking professional soccer, Major League
Soccer on the airwaves every Friday at two o'clock. I
would have been like, mo, what what did you drink
during during the game Today it.
Speaker 4 (01:34:43):
Was it's that's been crazy. And then we were talking
earlier in the week. It was Wednesday of this week,
because the eleventh, it was a couple different on this
date happenings in FC Cincinnati history. On June eleventh was
the actual first MLS game played at Knippert Stadium, and
then fast forward a couple of years, June eleventh was
(01:35:04):
the night where Roman Celentano made that unbelievable save which
eventually won him Save of the Year. From an MLS standpoint,
but it is, it's incredible, and I know we've touched
on it before, but it's incredible to think of where
this vision hatched and playing games at FC at Knippert Stadium,
to now the fortress that is TQO Stadium, the fan base,
(01:35:26):
the following and also the winning product that FC Cincinnati
has been able to put out there relatively in a
short amount of time. When you think about it in
the grand scheme of.
Speaker 7 (01:35:35):
Things, No, it is, and look you're coming up on
we're going to celebrate ten years in August.
Speaker 9 (01:35:41):
They're have an alumni game. If it looked, the teams
on the road right now for three in a row.
Speaker 7 (01:35:45):
But if folks are looking at their summer plans and
trying to figure out when to come to a game
and when to buy tickets, there's a lot of home
games coming up starting in July, and then that August
tenth match at TQL Stadium will be the tenth anniversary game.
And then afterwards they're having an alumni so some of
the former guys we're back to play a match after
the game. Hope people stick around for that. Should be
(01:36:05):
a lot of fun. But no, it's been. You're right,
I mean ten years is a short amount of time
period and it's not even ten years in Major League soccer.
Remember this, this team started with that launch in August
twelfth of twenty fifteen, launched as a USL team who
wanted to be in Major League Soccer and got there
and struggled. So the success of the of the club
(01:36:28):
on the field, because a lot of the success obviously came,
you know, in the ticket office and merchandise and all
of the things and building the front office before the
success came starting twenty twenty two, you know, with the
arrival of course Albright at the end of twenty one,
and obviously Pat Noonan as the head coach in twenty
twenty two. And what this club has done and positioned
themselves as you know, playoff contenders and MLS Cup contenders
(01:36:51):
for the last you know, now four years, including this one,
is wildly impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:36:56):
I look at this year's team and you know, we
put a lot into hell Is Reel obviously because of
the rivalry, but also where those two teams were sitting.
We talked last week that after that game, both of
those teams have taken a little bit of a step back.
A four to two loss to Atlanta, the tie against Dallas,
(01:37:16):
a loss against d C. How important or how vital
was it to get this mini break in with the
team playing the way they were. I know Pat Noonan
was not happy if you listen to some of his
postgame press conferences. So how important was a little bit
of a break to kind of catch yourselves and now
look forward to this next stretch run.
Speaker 7 (01:37:36):
Yeah, I think it fell at really the perfect time
out of afford to catching up with Pat tomorrow and getting
kind of his thoughts on how the team came back.
But I would imagine that the guys feel rested, they
feel rejuvenated, and as disappointing as those matches were going
into the break, I mean the team sits in second
place in the Eastern Conference, you know, four points back there,
(01:37:58):
So you know, it's not like while they got to
go on to this amazing run in the second half
to position themselves.
Speaker 9 (01:38:03):
They got to play better, and I think everybody knows that.
Speaker 7 (01:38:05):
The players know that, the coaches know that staff knows
that listen, they're gonna look for and improved performance and
they run upgainst a tough opponent in New England in
this match tomorrow.
Speaker 9 (01:38:14):
But no, I think that it did fall to good place.
Speaker 7 (01:38:18):
You know, twenty one matches, as we talked about last week,
in about three months of time. I mean Columbus kind
of fell off there going in the break as well,
and they were in a similar boat having participated in
the Champions Cups. So, you know, schedule congestion certainly is
a concern in the league, and there's been a lot
of talk about the schedule. What's gonna happen with the schedule?
Is the calendar going to change?
Speaker 9 (01:38:39):
You know?
Speaker 7 (01:38:40):
Are there ways to get the players, you know, in
a better place to avoid some of the congestion. You know,
that'll be figured out by people who are much smarter
than me and have much higher ranking positions than me,
you know, somewhere down the road. But in the meantime,
I think that it really did fall to good place.
And now, look it's three straight road games, but it's
only three matches in in the matter of the rest
(01:39:02):
of June. So so tomorrow at New England and then
will not play next weekend, you know, with a bye week,
and then they'll have a Wednesday Saturday, both on the
road Montreal and Orlando.
Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
That's not gonna be easy by any means, But.
Speaker 7 (01:39:15):
I do think then you find a team that's rejuvenated,
hopefully has found some results in the month of June,
and you flip the calendar into July and I was
just talking to a couple of members of the comm
staff here that after that, you only play five road
games the rest of the year. Five regular season road
matches the rest of the way. Now, three of them
are out to you know, the West West Coast or
(01:39:37):
or deep you know, West furthest trips of the year
for f C Cincinnati. But that part aside, you're gonna
have a lot of opportunities to be at home. You know,
you have Leak Leaf Cup matches at home and and
much less travel the rest of the way. So I think,
and I hope obviously that it sets up really well
for this club when.
Speaker 5 (01:39:56):
You look back.
Speaker 4 (01:39:57):
I remember talking at the beginning of the year because
there was so many new additions to this team, and
also the schedule was so hectic that you really didn't
have time in between matches to kind of think about
where you are and make those adjustments and get into
a practice setting and move on from that. And you
went through waves, as is every season. If you look
back where things are at today, what is one of
(01:40:19):
those things that this team is maybe ahead of the
game with in your opinion, and something that they really
need to work on starting tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (01:40:27):
Yeah, I mean, I think that Listen, the offense has
started to really gel and come together, and we saw
that goal between Evander and Kevin Denke. That was a
glimpse of what that partnership can truly look like. You know,
Kevin's on fire. Evander has now twelve goal contributions, so
(01:40:47):
he's been as advertised for this club. You know, I
think both are in contention for All Star you know selections,
which we'll find out here in a couple of weeks
what that looks like. Make sure you log onto them
website and vote or the app or whatever and get
your votes in. But you know, those guys were both
both deserving of serious consideration there, and I think that
(01:41:08):
we're starting to see that offensive unit click.
Speaker 9 (01:41:11):
So I don't know if it's ahead of where people thought,
but I think.
Speaker 7 (01:41:14):
It's at where people would have expected at the midway
point of the season. I think the biggest thing that
has to come together now is the chemistry defensively. You know,
we've seen the goals allowed in those last three matches
before the break, all after Nick Haglin left and Nick
was performing at such a high level, and now you
have Miles Robinson out on national team duty, and he's
(01:41:35):
been selected to stay with the national team through the
Gold Cup, so we know we're not going to see
him now for an extended period of time. So you're
missing two of the three starters in the back line.
Matt the Alska, your captain, is still there to anchor
the three center backs. But what does the rest of
it look like, I think is the big question. And
guys are gonna have to step up, you know, whether
(01:41:55):
that's teenagey Davy's just frush back from international duty, HILBERTA Flores,
the youngster who who I thought, you know, gave the
team pretty good minutes to start the season. And then
if playing time dropped off when Nick came back and
we haven't seen it as much of him, well he's
gonna have to step it up and he'sn't have to
play important minutes, you know, over these coming weeks while
Nick works his way back from injury and Miles is
(01:42:15):
out with the US men's national team for you know,
it to be determined stretch. And then you know the
other guys who have stepped in who are traditionally wing backs,
Alvis Pile, de Andre Yedlin, Lucas Engel. We'll probably gonn
see some of them play minutes at center back here
over this time until Nick and Miles were back. So
you know, those guys are veterans, certainly had played in
really big situations, big matches, and I think we'll step up.
Speaker 9 (01:42:38):
But you know, I'm really looking at teen age and.
Speaker 7 (01:42:41):
Hilberto to fill the void and be mainstays that Pat
Nownan can rely on to be out there with Matt Miaoska.
And if if they can do that, then this team
can get back to their form where they were defensively
before this tough stretch.
Speaker 4 (01:42:56):
April fifteenth, FC Cincinnati hosted New England and posted a
one zero victory. Since then, the Revolution have not lost
in nine matches, five wins, four draws. When you when
you sink back to that match and obviously what New
England has done since then, what are going to be
some of the keys to to trying to go get
(01:43:17):
three on the road against a team playing really well.
Speaker 7 (01:43:19):
Man, you better know where carlos Heel is. I mean,
that's been a story anytime we've talked about New England
over the last few years. I mean former MVP all
Saw in Major League Soccer. I mean, certainly one of
the best at that position, in that central attacking midfield
position over the last five or six years in Major
League Soccer. He is so good and so so dangerous,
(01:43:41):
So you better know where Carlos is at all times.
You know, we haven't yet seen Leo Campana this year
with New England when when he played against he didn't
play against Antnati in the previous matchup. We'll see if
he's available health wise for this match. But but he
is obviously a very good talent. Came over from Miami
where he was last year. Down uner Miami, they.
Speaker 9 (01:44:01):
Just shed some salary so they shipped him up to
New England. He's really good.
Speaker 7 (01:44:06):
And and then their defense has been fantastic in that
nine match stretch, Tony, they have six clean sheets, so
they're not allowing many goals and and they're scoring multiple
goals more often than not across that stretch. So you're
right if you want to point to a turning turning
point for the Revs. I mean they they left Teque
Altadium back in early April, and and you kind of
(01:44:27):
point to it and say, man, like, we.
Speaker 5 (01:44:29):
May not see cayleb Porter for this game in June, like.
Speaker 9 (01:44:32):
Quite simple we're gonna see him in two months, and
Cayler Porter may not be the head coach by then
with the way that New.
Speaker 7 (01:44:38):
England was playing, and and Cayler Porter is not going
anywhere now with the way that they're playing. So I
give them credit. I think they've they've turned it around
a big way. Strong obviously defensively, Carlos Heel is firing
in all cylinders, and you know, you're starting to see
the talent they have on that roster is paying off
(01:44:58):
and jelling a bit. So it's not easy going in
playing on turf. Since they played on our official services
twice this year, they've lost both of those games. That
was at Atlanta and also at Charlotte early in the season,
so they've they've performed pretty well the last few times
they played until that stadium. So they're going to go
in there and and battle, and I think that they
(01:45:19):
have something to prove. I hope you know that they
feel that way after the way they kind of limped
into the break.
Speaker 4 (01:45:26):
Obviously, it's it's a team in an organization who is
always looking at not only what is happening now, but
looking for the future as well. And you mentioned Nick
Caglin's injury. You mentioned Miles Robinson not being around, You
mentioned where this team sits going into this next stretch run.
Does it feel like a team who's always going to
be looking to make an addition or do you think
that that they're comfortable with where things are out and
(01:45:48):
getting what's what's most out of the roster.
Speaker 27 (01:45:51):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:45:51):
I think Chris Albery certainly has his eyes on this
transfer window. You know, they can sign players now, they
can't come in until July twenty fourth, So anybody who's
at I did wouldn't be eligible until July twenty fourth.
But I think that Chris very much has his eyes
on a couple additions. Uh he has a tight salary
cap as far as I understand it at the moment.
(01:46:12):
But listen, there's there's obviously ways to to find some
relief and move some pieces around if needed. I think
certainly another attacking piece is part of the puzzle.
Speaker 9 (01:46:22):
Maybe a wide piece as well.
Speaker 7 (01:46:24):
Uh So, I think it'll be very interesting to see.
You know, as leagues around the world now have wrapped
up their seasons, you'll start to hear rumors and and
you know, see reports of what's going on. I usually
don't believe much until a somebody because of me here
or Tom Bogert, who is probably the leading MLS you know,
(01:46:47):
talking about a woj bomb in in midjor league soccer,
like that's that's Tom Bogert. He when when Tom has it,
you know, my friends is actually, oh, I've seen this
report from some guy with four hundred sixty three followers
in Argentina or something. And I'm like, well, I don't
know who that dude is. I don't know anything. You know,
nobody told me anything.
Speaker 5 (01:47:04):
Like I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:47:05):
But but if Tom Bogert puts it out, then then
he has put the research in. So I would encourage
if she's seen Sandy fans to follow the time. He
usually has the scoops and and knows what's going on
and is plenty of well connected across the league. But yeah, no,
I think it's as we get closer and turn the
calendar to July, you'll start to hear some rumors of
who's coming on. But I wouldn't be shocked to see
(01:47:27):
a couple of pieces. It's interesting because you you know,
you mentioned Nick out of miles out of international.
Speaker 9 (01:47:32):
Duty, but like both are expected back.
Speaker 7 (01:47:34):
I mean Miles will be back from international duty and Nick,
as pat said yesterday his press conference is on track
as far as his rehab and recovery from the injury
he suffered at Atlanta's concerned.
Speaker 9 (01:47:44):
So that's great news. What you're gonna get him about
the middle of July.
Speaker 7 (01:47:47):
So if you wanted to hit a center back, and
you wouldn't get him until you know the end of
July anyways, and you expect both those guys to be
back in your mix h before then. So I don't
know that that's going to be a spot, but I
do think that we will see some moves from Chris
Albright and this team to continue to make a push. Look,
they want to win MLS Cup and they know they
(01:48:08):
have a lot of the right pieces. I think they
know they can make the team better with a couple
more and will certainly explore what those pieces are and
figure out what makes this team best for the second
half of the season.
Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
Awesome stuff as always, Tom Galader for for FC Cincinnati.
Before I let you go, how important? How important was
that win for the Guardians to avoid a season sweep
at the hands of the Reds five and one in
five verse oh and six, It certainly feels like a
world of difference.
Speaker 7 (01:48:39):
I mean, I knew we couldn't get through this without
a little bit of a mention. But here maybe a
turning We talked about maybe a turning point a season
for New England, you know, back in April when they're
a te QoS Staum, Maybe turning point the season for
the Guards and you know, not not watching the Reds,
you know, celebrate with the clean sweep.
Speaker 9 (01:48:54):
Of the year out of there, and then maybe that
gives them.
Speaker 7 (01:48:56):
The boost into the you know, into the dog days
of summer, and the Guardians make that playoff push thanks
to that you know, resounding win earlier this week.
Speaker 4 (01:49:05):
And now that they've lost the Cup, they they have
a different type of trophy to pursue.
Speaker 5 (01:49:09):
Now maybe their eyes go to a different trophy.
Speaker 7 (01:49:11):
I mean, listen, I'm sure on the list of goals
for the seasonal High Cup was number one, you know,
World Series probably number two would be my guests, But yeah,
you know, you gotta pick your teeth up, shove them
back in your.
Speaker 9 (01:49:26):
Gums and and and get up and go.
Speaker 5 (01:49:27):
Are you going to banana ball this weekend?
Speaker 9 (01:49:29):
Toll?
Speaker 4 (01:49:29):
No, I'm not gonna make banana ball. I'm not gonna
make it, unfortunately.
Speaker 9 (01:49:34):
Are you either? No, I'm going to park borrow here.
Speaker 4 (01:49:37):
I thought maybe you'd send the family. Is the family
going to banana ball?
Speaker 5 (01:49:41):
No?
Speaker 7 (01:49:41):
No, they got out of turn baseball. They got baseball tournaments. Okay,
they got being on baseball, baseball, baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:49:49):
It's well and uh enjoy New England, get to three
and uh let's talk again next week.
Speaker 5 (01:49:54):
Thanks as always for your.
Speaker 9 (01:49:55):
Time to absolutely see if illas.
Speaker 4 (01:49:58):
That is Tom Galtter, the voice of FC Cincinnati. Is
they try to get back on track against New England
tomorrow night. We got to take a break. When we
come back. Bob man Jean from the University of Cincinnati
and Novacare will join us to talk some injury questions
going forward. Here now our number three Cincy three to
sixty thanks to Penn Station on ESPN fifteen thirty crapload.
Speaker 6 (01:50:18):
It's points in the afternoon.
Speaker 7 (01:50:19):
Can I get a hell?
Speaker 4 (01:50:20):
Yes, welcome back as we roll along on a Friday.
Thanks to Penn Station, it's our number three. Since he
three to sixty on the Home of the Bengals ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Yes, I said, Home of
the Bengals, the NFL team that resides right here in Cincinnati,
not the team that resides in Pittsburgh. Although if you
talk to our next guest, he's very interested with what's
(01:50:42):
going on with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 5 (01:50:43):
I'm more interested with.
Speaker 4 (01:50:44):
What's going on with the Cincinnati Bengals and a defensive
player that is going to play a large role in
shutting down Aaron Rodgers and the aerial attack that the
Pittsburgh Steelers have put together. Of course, I'm talking about
our good friend Bob man Jean from the University of
Cincinnati and novacare joining us right now.
Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
Now, Hi, Bob Tony, how are you. I'm good, I'm good.
How are you doing?
Speaker 9 (01:51:06):
You're killing me? Dogs.
Speaker 8 (01:51:07):
You know the Steelers, you know they have that short
bus from the nursing home and they bring in Aaron
Rodgers every day from the nursing home.
Speaker 5 (01:51:15):
I get it. I get you.
Speaker 4 (01:51:17):
Before I get into my Dax Hill question, what's going
on with with basketball? Because I know you guys get
a lot of a couple of workouts throughout kind of
the summer months. How how refreshing is it to be
able to get all the new pieces together and just
get out and work out a little bit on the
basketball court.
Speaker 8 (01:51:36):
Well, it's really exciting because right now this week was
our first week of discretionary, So the NSA allows you
eight weeks throughout the course of the summer to have
strength and conditioning coach Royfel works with him, and then
on the court, the coaches get to work with them
and actually start to put the team chemistry together. So
(01:51:57):
you know, and again in this era of college basketball,
you're bringing in four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
and in some teams last year, you know, they're bringing
in a whole new team. So the summer is really
really critical to start trying to get kids working together
and learning each other and play in some open gym.
See how the kids are going to respond whenever they're
(01:52:18):
in different environments. And we started this week and it's
really exciting what's going on up here in Clifton and
a lot of good talent and we'll just see, you know,
how it all evolves.
Speaker 5 (01:52:29):
Discretionary for players, never discretionary for you, is it, Bob.
Speaker 8 (01:52:34):
Well, fortunately or unfortunately, if they're on the court, then
the NCAA requires sports medicine to be on the court
with them, or you know, be in the building whenever
they're in the weight room. And so, you know, we
do have a lot of health and safety regulations that
we abide by, but there are times where the kids
will you know, you've got some kids that are like, man,
(01:52:56):
I'm going to shoot two, three, four times a day,
and they might come over in the evening and shoot
on their own. And again, you you're not covering that.
But anything that's considered discretionary workout formally in what we
call CARA, which is allowable accountable hours of participation. Then
you know, we've got to be on campus. Plus we
(01:53:16):
got to do all the physicals. We got to do
well is it nine new physicals or eight new physicals
this year? So and that takes a lot of work
because you can't really rely on the school that they
went to prior and all the medical information you can
get from the schools they transferred from. And I'm old school,
so I want to start all over again. So basically
(01:53:39):
we're doing an initial participation in intake physical and every
kid that we bring in, I'm you know, just looking
to make sure that that you know, their health is
well established.
Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
I want to ask from a Cincinnati Bengals standpoint. We've
obviously talked a lot about the Bengals defense this offseason
and getting to be able to practice with a new
defensive coordinator coming in. Dax Hill has yet to be
able to practice. He's been on the rehab field. It's
interesting how the Bengals are going to use him, whether
it's going to be outside corner where he slots in.
(01:54:14):
He's played some safety obviously. But the interesting part about
this is that Dax Hill tore his ACL last year
in Week five against the Baltimore Ravens. That puts at
October sixth, so we're a little more than eight months
beyond the injury right now. When you start to get
to that standpoint, eight plus months out from an ACL injury,
(01:54:35):
you're working on the rehab field. What are some of
the things you're looking for as a player gets now
deeper into the rehab to make sure that he's trending
in the right direction.
Speaker 8 (01:54:46):
Well, you're really trying to get an integration of what
they're doing in the clinic and the training room, what
they're doing in the weight room, and then working with
coaching staff on drills and reorienting their bodies and movements.
Back to football skill type of movements. It's not one
single thing that counts over the years, you know, I've
(01:55:10):
actually published quite a number of papers on ACL and
return to play, and in my mind there are factors
such as, you know, how strong are they, what's their
ratio of the strength within the lower extremity versus their core.
You know, what does their foot speed look like? What's
their reaction time? In terms of when you tear an ACL,
(01:55:33):
people have to realize the speed of paring a ligament
or when you tear your handstring, that injury occurs at
about two hundreds of a second. The fastest muscle firing
that we have in our bodies is about five hundreds
of a second, So theoretically you can't contract fast enough
(01:55:54):
to counterbalance and apply force. So we look at the
reaction cap ability in a single limb position, because when
you get hurt, you're basically getting hurt on one leg,
So we look at the foot position in the ground,
we look at the core reaction to that, and what
we do on the field in terms of return to
(01:56:16):
activities in a sporting environment is probably the most single
important thing, and that is that you know, you remember
last year I had Tyler McKinley get hurt. And Tyler's
been full practice right around seven months, six and a
half months. But again we kind of ty traded that
(01:56:37):
up and when we put them on the court, you
don't put them right out there, right on the field
and say hey, we're going to go through an hour
and a half practice. We're going to go through station one,
station two, then the next week maybe station one, two
and three, and then the next week. So when you
say full clear to return, it's basically a progressive, step
(01:56:58):
by step return to make sure that the athlete can
absorb the forces that's going to be put on them.
The other critical factor, believe it or not, is your
genetic makeup, and it's a proablic curve. There are people
on one side of that curve who are what I
like to call gumbies, people that are very loose joined.
(01:57:20):
You see that oftentimes in females and in those kids.
I take my good old time. You know, I'm dealing
with a couple of our athletes here that I classify
on that side of the spectrum, and you know, we're
not planning on them going back to probably twelve months,
maybe thirteen months, depending on their strength. Then you've got
kids on the other side who are super tight and
(01:57:42):
they scar in super tight, and they have these big
thick scars that you can see when they get a wound.
And one of your teammates, Tony Carvetti, you remember Tony.
Tony played in the International Bowl up in Toronto. Tony
played in eleven weeks and six days after his ACL reconstruction.
He got hurt in the Miami of Ohio game in
(01:58:05):
early September. We didn't play till or in late September.
We didn't play until this lake to December early January,
and Tony did an incredible job with his rehab and
basically was able to play. You know, I'll stay right
around twelve weeks because he was so tight joint in
(01:58:26):
his muscles. Didn't even know he had surgery. I mean, boom,
they kicked right back on. So it's a problic curve.
It's not everybody returns at the same time. You know,
one ACL, like I said, might get back quick within six, seven,
eight months, and another one might follow the average curve of
eight nine months, ten months. But then you have a
(01:58:47):
small group that you need to be careful with and
take your time. That's where your rehab person comes into play,
because if you go to a physio therapist who understands
the integration of the body systems and they can look
at that individual and say, wait, bit man, this is
a type joint an individual we need to get moving
(01:59:07):
and we're going to have a motion complication, or this
is somebody who's a gumby. And gumbies can literally stretch
their acls out between eight and twelve weeks just during
you know, high level listing activities. They don't have to
be returned to play because there are scar tissues not
as stiffer, or the collagenists makeup of the repair is
(01:59:29):
not as solid as somebody on the other side of
the spectrum. So you know, that's where rehab in the
first probably four months is the most critical. And you
really need to have somebody not just somebody who sees
one ACL every now and then, or you know, sees
one athlete every now and then. You need somebody who's
(01:59:50):
continually seeing you know, athletes like surgery. You know, I
always tell patients if you want an ACL reconstruction, you
want to have a surgeon who's doing one hundred a year.
You know, when it goes to a surgeon, who does
you know they dabble in it with one or two
or three a year. You know, it's the same thing
with rehab. You know you get referred to a physical therapist. Well,
you better make sure. And that's why Nova Care start
(02:00:13):
and our program for what we call Sports Medicine Centers
of Excellence, and that you know, those individuals have gone
through specific certification and training so that you know they
can handle an aco and they can handle a dislocated shoulder.
So once you get in the point B, then it's
a strength problem where you're really pushing strength. And then
(02:00:35):
finally you get into the point see where they're on
the field, and you've got to progress them through that
time frame on the field. And I'm assuming in his case,
he's going to be monitored through that whole process.
Speaker 4 (02:00:48):
Yeah, because because he spoke this week and he said that,
you know, he he knows that full clearance doesn't necessarily
mean full participation from it. And again, I think the
timing of the injury obviause he makes it different. Right
now they've got five or six weeks off, you could
be a little bit more cautious and and uptick him
in different ways, but he did speak of the difference
(02:01:09):
of full clearance with the ACL versus full participation.
Speaker 31 (02:01:13):
Once practices start correct, correct, and full clearance just means
that everybody's happy with clinical numbers that they see in
terms of the stability, the range of motion, the clinical strength.
Speaker 8 (02:01:24):
But full clearance to play is an algorithm where you've
got to go through these different drills and make sure
that they can. I mean, in Tyler's case, it took
me six weeks to start from you know, drill number
one that West likes to use all the way through
him going through an iron twenty minute practice. You know,
(02:01:45):
it's not like Gene, you look great clinically, let's just
jump right in. It's this nice slow titration up so
that his body, their bodies get used to the forces,
their bodies start to go back to encountering unknowns. So
it's like you played football, right, you had no idea
what way the defensive end was coming, so you had
(02:02:06):
to be prepared for anything coming etchet. You know, I
couldn't replicate that here in the training room, so we
had to get you on the field and teach how
to fall or teach how to you know, react to
when you got hit, or teach you how to respond
when you saw something come out of the corner of
your eye. You can't do that in the clinic. It
has to be done in the environment that you're going
(02:02:26):
to play in. And that's why you know that portion
of is really critical to have somebody experienced with getting
you through those steps. And at the professional level, there's
people all over there that that are looking at those steps.
You know. The last thing we're looking at right now
is we've got a major study with a company out
(02:02:47):
of California name CLR Neualistics, and we're actually able to
now measure brain function and look at the brains response
to different activities. And if you're not training on single
legs on a single leg program er, if you're not
training in a visual environment with blaze pods or Dina
(02:03:09):
vision or something that deals with visual field, that lights
up your brain and that really gets you to be
very quick reactive. So, you know, we've got all kinds
of testing now, from you know, strength testing to jump
testing to you know to ligament testing, and everything's fancy,
but it still comes back too. Can you go back
(02:03:31):
into the environment that you got hurt in and feel
like you're confident that you can withstand those forces. And
then once you're there and again my comment is, I've
never returned an athlete to play, and you know this.
I'll walk up and say, do you think you're ready
to go? Because only you know am I able to absorb, respond, react,
(02:03:54):
and play and absorb force? I don't know that it's
your body. And too many people think as soon as
a doctor or physical therapist for somebody who says, oh
you're clearned to play, well, that's a cure all to end, all,
just go right in the game. No, it's a slow,
steady progress, and the athlete is the number one decision
maker on do I feel comfortable enough that when I
(02:04:17):
get hit, I'm going to be able to absorb the force,
fall correctly, or respond correctly and not getting injured again.
You want to make them better than they were because
they got injured. So obviously they weren't you know, where
they needed to be when they got injured, So you
want to actually make them more improved, power, improved balance,
(02:04:37):
improved core.
Speaker 5 (02:04:39):
Awesome stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:04:40):
As always, Bob, we always appreciate your time, especially here
on a Friday afternoon. Enjoy the weekend and by all means,
send me any Aaron Rodgers' workout videos you find this weekend.
Speaker 8 (02:04:50):
Tony, I keep an eye on it. I want to
make sure that you can see the progress is making.
Get and integrated into the Steelers' offense. That way, when
we get to the fall and Austin will cry so
bad whenever you know, they jink down here because I
really worry about you and Austin.
Speaker 5 (02:05:06):
Yeah, I get it, I get it.
Speaker 8 (02:05:07):
Let's on call that you know when you get too
depressed over the Bengals. This year, I told these counselors
that they need to have a couple of appointments open.
Speaker 5 (02:05:16):
For you in Austin. Keep us on speed dial. Bob,
have a great weekend, Man, Thank you so much.
Speaker 8 (02:05:21):

thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (02:05:48):
It's time for Since three sixty quick hits on ESBN
fifteenth thirty.
Speaker 4 (02:05:52):
I was looking for mo No, he's not in. Oh
it's not in, But Mike Petrali is in. Drags is
in three hours.
Speaker 5 (02:05:59):
I'm a little surprise Trags is here. I thought Trags
would be all over the bananas. Oh yeah, I think
I figured he's a banana banana type of guy, banana
ball type of guy. Savannah Savannah banana banana Yep, chance,
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:06:14):
Well, we had a chance to talk banana ball earlier,
and I'm sure Trags will break some banana ball down
in the next three hours.
Speaker 5 (02:06:20):
But let's get how many innings of banana ball you
think Trags has watched all of them? Okay, probably, he's
probably a rules expert.
Speaker 4 (02:06:32):
NBA Finals game for tonight in Indie Pacers lead to
one right now. They are a six and a half
point underdog Reds Tigers A. It's a big series. We
talked a little bit about that this series earlier on
Event Today's show, a little revenge for what the Tigers
did last year when the Reds were red hot at
that time. It's Nick Martinez on the Mountain tonight for
(02:06:54):
the red Legs. That series opens up, but it's a
it's a couple Friday topics that I really wanted to
dive into for quick hits.
Speaker 6 (02:07:02):
Here.
Speaker 5 (02:07:03):
Oh boy, this is scary.
Speaker 4 (02:07:04):
So the first revolves around a grass cutting question. And
I know that we have multiple lawn service lawn care
companies that listen to this show absolutely, and we've talked
often about the pride in keeping the lawn manicured, sure,
keeping it freshly mode. Now yesterday, I don't know where
(02:07:25):
people stand or what level of attack they're under with cicadas,
but if you ranked cicada levels one through ten, I
would imagine that my backyard is a ten. Okay, it is.
They're everywhere. You can't sit out in the back and
have a conversation there so loud. What I found out
yesterday is that cicadas are also riled up and attracted
(02:07:49):
to loud noises and vibrations.
Speaker 5 (02:07:51):
I told you that last week. It's insane.
Speaker 4 (02:07:53):
I wish I cut the back grass yesterday, and I
must have had it takes me fifteen minutes to cut
the back grass. I must have had twenty five cicadas
land on me at different times.
Speaker 5 (02:08:02):
And you probably had a lot of casualties of cicadas.
I'm assuming. Oh yeah, that is the one thing about them.
There's so many of them, and they just fly right
into these seemingly death traps. Oh my god, they get
stepped on constantly bar windshields. Yeah like that. I mean
I kind of feel bad for the little guys because
the death is Yeah, I mean there's a lot of Yeah,
(02:08:26):
it's gruesome. Now I have we have a baby, a
bird's nest with cardinals in our backyard I talked about
last week. I would imagine for the birds, it's fantastic
because it's easy to get food for the babies. I
would think, yeah, do they eat cicadas? Does that make sense?
Speaker 4 (02:08:42):
Sure, they do, Okay, But my question revolved around what
happened in the front yard as I was cutting the grass.
My neighbor doesn't keep the lawn as uh clean as
as you would, meaning the lawn is the grass is
(02:09:03):
pretty high at this point, which I don't care about that,
But what I do care about Austin, is that in
my neighbor's yard now there's a groundhogkay, and the groundhog
is slowly starting to creep into my side of the
lawn where you can see kind of the groundhog tracks
hogging the ground, hogging the ground. Also, there are I
(02:09:25):
don't know, I guess there's some type of weeds, but
they look like many trees.
Speaker 5 (02:09:28):
That are growing in her yard. Okay, in my neighbor's yard,
and they look like some sort of there are weeds,
but it looks like it's I mean, it's like ten
inches tall, but they look like a tree. This sounds
like you're probably, you know, probably good enough where you
could complain.
Speaker 4 (02:09:46):
Yeah, So that's my question, because yesterday I had to
cut two of them down on my side of the grass.
At what point is a neighbor do you have to intervene?
Speaker 5 (02:09:56):
Well, I would have to ask more about this person's story.
They've very recently moved in, so they've not moved in,
they've not lived there very long. Okay, so maybe they
don't have a but they've cut it before. Okay, But
so are they physically able? I wouldn't care if it
just stayed in that lawn, right, but now the ground
(02:10:19):
is starting to burrow into my lawn there are weeds.
I don't know that there's much you can do about
the groundhog because, as you know, he moves underneath the ground.
You could take care of the groundhog and different. I
think there's ways you can like pour stuff down into there. Yes,
there are ways to take care of but it's it's
I don't know. I mean, it's on someone else's property.
I can't go onto the property and take care of
(02:10:42):
the groundhog. I'm saying you might be able to force
him back over into their yard, but because he moves
under the ground, he'll just tar back over your yard. Right.
It would have to be a team effort from both
yard owners to at.
Speaker 4 (02:10:55):
What point is it fair? Because you don't want to
be that neighbor as well when someone moves in to
be like.
Speaker 5 (02:11:00):
Hey cut your grass? How long ago did they move in?
Let's say four months, okay, and so how when was
the last time they mowed the grass? I would say
ten days, okay. I would give them the weekend. Okay, okay.
If you get towards the two week mark, then we're
in trouble. I feel like that's a bit of an issue. Ye,
but there's you know, who knows what somebody could be going.
Speaker 4 (02:11:23):
Correct, That's my thing, Like, you know, is it disrespectful
if I would just like cut their front yard?
Speaker 5 (02:11:28):
I think so, yes, Okay, I think it is considered disrespectful. Okay,
or you know, maybe hey, do you mind, I'm already
out here, already out here, I can mow this finish,
maybe cut these weeks down. I'm gonna bring my pistol
out here and shoot this groundhog. I'm a way forward
to move something like that.
Speaker 4 (02:11:45):
Yeah, speaking of uh critters, in true Friday fashion, did
you hear what's going on in Murray, Kentucky?
Speaker 5 (02:11:54):
Murray, Kentucky. Yes, I'm unfamiliar.
Speaker 4 (02:11:57):
Now Murray State is getting ready to play in Omaha. Sure,
a lot of big things happening there. But a busy
bar in Kentucky Austin received an unwonted visitor last week,
according to the Murray Police Department, on the night of
June sixth, a man who's now in custody, who is
(02:12:18):
who goes by the term locally as cowboy Cody. Okay, So,
if you're in a if you're in a town and
you've got a nickname at the bar, you're probably there
a lot. Yeah, Cowboy Cody was banned from going to
this bark and so in response, he took a raccoon,
opened the front door of the bar and just let
(02:12:38):
the raccoon go. The raccoon caused havoc in the bar.
Bit somebody now again, he has been He's been charged
with assault in the second degree, criminal trespassing in the
third degree, resisting arrest, and failure of owner to maintain
required insurance in the first offense. So he is facing
(02:12:58):
a litany of charges.
Speaker 5 (02:12:59):
Wait, he owns the raccoon, it's his pet raccoon. Yes,
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:13:03):
Wow, but what are you doing if you're just sitting
at the Moose Lodge on a Friday night and someone
just opens up the door and throws a raccoon in?
Speaker 5 (02:13:09):
Yeah, that wouldn't it wouldn't go well. Yeah, I don't
know the dynamics of the bar. I feel like if
they if they did that at the Moose, I'd be
able to get away. I'd be able to get out.
But if it's a small kind of cozy bar, you know,
like if they threw a raccoon into the blind lemon. Yeah,
up and going to cause an issue. That would be
(02:13:32):
a problem. Yep, it would be a major issue. But
if it's the moose, I don't I mean, obviously the
coon bits somebody, right.
Speaker 4 (02:13:39):
So right, Yeah, the bartender said, I've seen some crazy things,
never something like this.
Speaker 5 (02:13:46):
Yeah, I mean I think the dude should probably be
locked up.
Speaker 4 (02:13:49):
Yeah, Cowboy Cody, Man, Cowboy Cody, just imagine the mental
mindset you got to be employ just the mental mind say,
you got to be in. Raccoons are mean to be
in a state of mind where you're like, Okay, they
want to ban me from this bar, they banned this raccoon.
(02:14:11):
Let me throw this bad boy in there, and watch
what happens we doing.
Speaker 5 (02:14:14):
I would imagine Cowboy Cody had been drinking. I would
imagine probably elsewhere. Yep, when he got the idea. Yeah, oh, man,
Cowboy Cody, bartender. I'm a bartender, so you know I've
seen some crazy stuff. I never seen anything like this. Yeah, unbelievable,
(02:14:35):
Cowboy Cody. Oh my gosh. This same guy, Austin, I mean,
if we got about a minute left. This same guy
was arrested in December for leading cops on a high
speed drunken mule chase. Okay, I was gonna say Cowboy
Cody seemed familiar to me, so he was drunk on
(02:14:56):
a mirror. If it was that, or if it was
Cowboy Carter from Beyond, I'd say, But yeah, I feel
like I've heard cowboys Todie before. He was just drunk
on a mule and wouldn't get off the mule.
Speaker 13 (02:15:09):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (02:15:10):
He led police on a drunken chase on a mule
on December seventh, and then doubled down and did it
again on the ninth. Yeah, he should probably spend some
time locked up somewhere.
Speaker 4 (02:15:19):
Yeah, Cowboy Coding, we hope he gets the help he needs.
I don't think there's any more of an appropriate way
to end a show, yeah, nor a week like we've had.
I'm just thanks to Shamar Stewart, thanks the Cowboy Coding.
Try and figure this out, you know, like, what would
I do in the event of the red Hopefully my
neighbor's not listening. If you are, I'd be happy to
cut the grass for you.
Speaker 5 (02:15:37):
If your neighbor is listening, cut the damn grass. Thanks
for listening as well, though, Yeah, that too. We're done. Uh,
hopefully the Reds can. Let's go two or three for
the Reds. And uh, hopefully if you sweep him, if
you're hutting down the banana ball, have fun to they'll
get y'all lick back at Reds, get y'all lick back.
Speaker 4 (02:15:55):
Yeah, and uh, maybe we don't have to talk about
five hundred ball on a Monday. Maybe we can talk about.
Speaker 5 (02:16:00):
Something talks some more about default language, something even greater.
Mike Petralia is next.
Speaker 4 (02:16:06):
Thank you to our callers, listeners, talkbackers, guest and all
of our sponsors.
Speaker 5 (02:16:12):
Have a great Friday. We'll do it again next week
at SINCY three sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Station
