Reds to continue building on some very good baseball as
of late. We'll talk that and talk a little about
All Star voting today because there are some early returns
that are a little bit troubling based on how the
votes are going right now, we'll talk Major League Baseball

All Star voting. Albert Breer Sports Illustrated talked a little
bit about Trey Hendrickson and Shamar Stewart. Solomon Wilcot has
weighed in on the Stewart conversation, and there is something
that we've not yet discussed as it relates to the
Cincinnati Bengals that maybe we should and that pertains to

their right tackle a Marius Mims, who last year as
a rookie I think at certain times wowed with his
play at a very difficult position to play at the National.

and everyone gets to look more in depth at opponents.
Win the offseason, you want to talk about scouting departments
and advanced analytics. Every team across the league, especially those

and watching Amarius Mims among other yeahther's. They do this

for every player that's going to play in the game.
But there is a year two leap that I think
a lot of us are just expecting a Marius Mims
to take, and sometimes that year two leap is challenging,
especially when other teams are figuring out strengths and weaknesses
and how to go about exploiting those weaknesses. So let's

talk about the next step for Amrius Mims going forward
from a sports standpoint. Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunderer
now one went away from an NBA championship. They went
at home last night against the Indiana Pacers in a
game where the Pacers I thought played very well in

the end, Oklahoma City was too much, especially when they
get forty points from Jalen Williams fourteen to twenty five
shooting and then another thirty one from Shay Guildris Alexander
At fourteen from Aaron Wiggins, Case and Wallace had eleven

on a night where Alex Caruso had just two, Chet
Holmgren had nine, Hartenstein of four. They didn't need much
else and part of that is to the defensive job

believe that was Doctor krumbcheck and What beacon or With Beacon.

story is like he said it didn't feel, right but

negligence civil, assault and. Battery what do you make of?
This LEAST i asked least surprising news? EVER i asked
our Guy Rick uchino about, this and what is fascinating

to me is that this man's legal team is seeking
compensation for injuries suffered to the actions of a. Wrestler
the filing puts the amount in controversy at twenty five thousand.
Dollars now To Tony, kahan twenty five thousand dollars is
probably about a quarter to most. Folks if you're suing

aew And Tony. KHAN i would imagine legal fees alone
would be up, there close to twenty five GRAND i
was surprised to see that that monetary value was that.

Claim Christopher, dispensa says he suffered severe neck and shoulder
injuries as a result of being shoved to the ground
unexpectedly By. Moxley he alleges in the lawsuit that the

and treatment for other unspecified. Injuries and, now when you
watch the, VIDEO i have a hard time believing that
that shove caused that much. Damage but WHEN i heard
about the amount that he was suing, FOR i started
to believe it a little bit more because it seems, like, okay,

guys just pay for my medical? Bills BUT i feel
like if they're not trying to be a money grab

REDS a lot of folks would SAY. Tj friedel And
ellie de La. Cruz from a hitting, standpoint and those
are essentially the only two hitters that are solidified where

hit lead, Off ellie's gonna hit.

reds and it's two batters that are consistently in the
same spot in the.

Order, no not, REALLY i don't or they're just better
than everybody, Else they're just. Better they have a better
plan at the plate than all those other. GUYS i don't.
KNOW i, mean obviously how you're pitch to is affected
by the other people in the lineup and what you're
able to do specifically against certain types of pitches and

stuff like. THAT i think that means less today's day
day and age in the game because of how much
it comes to, analytics how each player kind of has
a scouting report and tendencies and trends and stuff like,

that where it's going off a lot more than just
batting average and being able to hit the ball or
being able to draw walks and stuff like. That, like
there's so much more that goes into the preparation for
these players that, yes maybe the guys behind them might
impact the way they're pitched, to but ultimately the data

would suggest how each person is to be pitched too
or pitched. Against and SO i don't know that maybe
there's a comfort in knowing what you're going to do
and a. ROUTINE i think maybe there's something to, that
BUT i don't know that it's you, KNOW i wouldn't
say that it's a huge.

move on or write them. Off they go and make

thirty nine series slide where they lose game one and

still don't find a way to win the. Series what
do you make of the turnaround and what can you
point to us why this team has been playing better.

Baseball it's interesting because you think what thirteen days, Ago june,
fourth the nine to one loss to The Milwaukee, brewers
and it kind of felt, like for the third different
time this, season people speaking in generalities were kind of
kicking dirt on The red. SEASON i go back to

that week fell like one of those nights in that
week felt like one of those weeks where, It's, okay
The reds are just going to finish this year like
they've finished recent. Years and then when they dropped to
thirty and thirty three with a nine to one loss
of The brewers thirteen days, ago it kind of felt
like again there was another nail in the coffin of
The red. Season from what we've seen here the last thirteen.

Days and it's interesting that it's come during this month
Of june where we looked at the schedule and we
circled this month and, said oh, boy that's why the
margin of ara that The reds had In april And
may that they kind of kicked around their, season this
is going to come back to bite them because they're
not going to be able to play above five hundred
baseball in this month when you Play arizona And cleveland

And detroit and what's still to come left on the
schedule in the month Of. June but What i've seen
from this team is is two guys IN. Tj freedom
And eli de La cruz who have found a way
to elevate the offense and keep the offense afloat until
other guys can start showing. Up we're talking about The

Spencer steers And matt, McClain Tyler, stevenson those guys who
started to show up a little bit. More but WHAT
i like most about the win On, sunday AND i
think we could probably mark it down as The reds
best win of the, season and certainly the best win
Of Terry francona's tenure here In, cincinnati is it kind
of felt a little bit like THE dna of what

we've seen the last two years when The reds are going,
well that in the final couple of innings there's such
a threat they're so hard to put. Away the moniker
of Rally, reds while it can be somewhat, cheesy it's
kind of what THEIR dna was that when you get
into the eighth and ninth inning and it's a one
or two run, game that they feel awfully, dangerous that

they can put pressure on a, defense they can create,
chaos and if you give them one, break like The
reds got the break with kJ friedel's come back or
to the mound and an error gets that inning, started
they pounced and they scored six runs over the final two.
Innings so to, me the big complaint that we've had
talking on this show weekly is that it wasn't just

The reds were losing. Games they just weren't. Entertaining they
didn't look like. Themselves and what we Saw, sunday AND
i think what we've seen over this eleven game stretch
where they're starting to play the kind of baseball we
thought they were capable, of was the offense can be.
Dangerous the offense can be. Long WHEN i say, LONG
i mean the lineup can be, dangerous longer than just

freedom And la gave a cruise and then they have
THAT dna to create chaos and never be out of
a game. Late AND i think if that can carry
for the rest of the first half of the, season
look the rest Of. June we know it's, tough but
there is that one week before The All star break
when THEY i, believe they play The rockies and they
play The, Marlins and so if this team can get

on a nice run here and then have that nice
soft landing before The All star, breaks you can look
at a team who's very much in it to start

are going to have to try to catch in the
second half of the year because we all assume that
The La dodgers are going to win The, west and
then you have those other two teams Out west in
The giants and also The padres that they're going to
have to compete with for one of these playoff. Spots

we all understand that they need. PITCHING i would anticipate

that they're going to improve their. Team so the problem
is the big picture is this is just more of the,
Same and the shame is that the other teams that
are in contention are likely going to do things to
make themselves. Better, now if we were going to hypothetically
talk about way The reds could get themselves, better certainly
anybody listening to this or talking about The reds will

say what they need is a right, handed power hitting,
back And Nick, crawlin The reds would argue that that
Is Austin, hayes and he can be that. Guy the question,
is after watching what he's done the last few years
and now having him here In cincinnati for half a,
season can they rely on that guy to come back

in the second half of the season and play enough
games for this team to justify him being the difference?
Maker AND i don't think he. Can so, here you
are two games above five hundred Mid june with a,
shot would you be willing to trade one of these
arms to go out and get? Somebody AND i think

would put on the untouchable list Of Hunter, Green Andrew,

missing any time. Whatsoever but, ultimately, THOUGH i am happy
with where they are because they have been playing exactly

through this tough stretch of. Games i'm surprised the way

that they've done, it AS i have been all season,
long where it's, Like, okay you're beating the teams that
we don't expect you to, beat and you're losing to

think that that just shows you that anything is possible
so long as they take this season seriously and look

you add something out of deadline that can make this

offseason and as you mentioned a couple weeks, ago there's

a weekend where they go to one of the best
teams in baseball and they win the, series and they
do so with impressive performances all. Around they do so
Without Hunter, green who's on the injured list right, now
and yet over the weekend we hear kind of the
same old messaging From Nick crawl as, to, well let's

wait until guys get, Healthy let's see what the roster
looks like, then because we haven't had a chance to do.
That why does not remain the thinking in your opinion
for this organization? Win it does feel like entering play,
today you're two and a hal back in the wild.
Card you could certainly use an addition that could help
the consistency of this. Offense why does it feel like

the message into the team is never.

to is just that he has not been given the

with the struggles of The Baltimore, orioles because they have
a number of outfielders that are on expiring contracts that
The reds could get on a rental basis for WHAT
i don't believe would be a very expensive trade. Package
or they could get real creative and see if they
could acquire one of their young outfielders with lots of team,

control albeit that would be a much more expensive trade.
Package but the whole point of this is The reds
have built up a farm system that it feels as
though isn't necessarily ready to produce a ton of rookies next,
year but definitely has a lot of talent that they
could use in a. Trade it's all about whether or
not The reds want to take on a few extra

dollars and that has just continually been the question mark
of the last few years of financially supporting a young
core that is talented but, unproven and how do you
abridge that gap between talent and. Production The reds have
started to see some fruits of that with different players here,
recently but they're not getting the across the board projection

and progression that they've expected from a number of. Guys
so how do you supplement. That they just continually keep telling, us,
well it's with the guys that are coming off the injured, list,
obviously But Austin hayes has been on the injured list
more times than they's. Not at least this is what
it feels. Like so how can we continue to trust,
that go out and get something that can back that.

Up what message do you feel it sends to a locker.
Room let's say The giants locker room who are playing good,
baseball winners of seven of their last, ten and then
they add A Raphael. Devers what messaging and uplifting moment
does that bring that locker? Room and on the opposite,

well we're just gonna get guys. HEALTHY i would imagine

just the culture in the locker room would be lifted
by trying to make some type of addition to, say,
hey we see what you're, Doing we're serious about trying to.

you're looking at THE Nl, central sure do have themselves a,
nice cushy lead at the, top but their pitching staff is.
Vulnerable and we saw that during the series that The
reds lost to The Chicago. Cubs they weren't losing it
because they weren't scoring. Runs they were losing it because
they were giving up the, runs which was completely different
from what we've seen from most of the season from

The reds pitching. Staff and it's just because That cubs
lineup is such a talented group of. Players let's make
The reds line up at least closer to. THAT i
don't think you're going to reach the level of where
The cubs are with the trade but If Nick caral
happened to be on the phone With Craig breslo at
the time That Rafael devers was, available it sounds like

The reds might have had a chance there if they
were willing to take on that, contract because reports are
that The Red sox didn't even really Shop. Devers it
just happened to be that they were talking to The
giants at the time and they're, like let's make this.
Happen so there's definitely been some opportunities in this past
offseason THAT i feel like The reds took advantage of
A La Taylor rodgers And Gavin. Lux so Can Nick

krawl do that? Here that's where his messaging is so
distressing because it sounds like he's Not.

YEAH i find it fascinating on one end because there's
recent recent history with this team where they chose with
a lead at the deadline to not make any moves
and that season kind of fell apart at the, end
and now we're still trying to get back to that.
Moment so that would lead one to, say, man maybe
things need to be handled a little bit. Differently the
other side of, it as you, mentioned the pitching for

this team if you could just compete in the Wild,
card let alone THE Nl. Central if you've got a
one or a three game series and you've Got Hunter,
Green Andrew abbott and any of these other, pitchers you feel,
like from a pitching, standpoint you would have a chance
to go win against anybody if you're able to get.

IN i think last season was the first season that
The World series did not include somebody from the Expanded Wild.
CARD i, mean if you just make it to the
dance and you have decent, pitching you can really make
some noise no matter who you're going up. AGAINST i,
mean The reds have shown the ability to shut down

some really good lineups this, season albeit at different times
and a little bit. Inconsistency but they've got the talent
that and the focus From Terry francona that they're gonna
be ready to go For august And september in the stretch.
Run they just got to get. There and it feels
like what gets them there is the timely hitting and
how can they kind of supplement that because this pitching

staff is gonna be one of the top, ten if
not top, five all season. Long the bullpen is gonna
be just good, enough our rotation is gonna be the
thing that carries them to that. Spot but does it
get enough run? SUPPORT i mean we're seeing, now like
if it feels like we've Got reds blinders on and

all we see are The. Reds look at what's happening
In pittsburgh right. Now Paul skeins will go nine innings
and allow one run and he'll get the loss because
he doesn't have run. Support and that's what you need to,
see and that's what The reds need to. Get and
it feels like there's gonna be some opportunities to add,
that so long as they're willing to take on that.

Risk the play as of late Of elie de La,
cruz he always is able to pull something together games
or series where it's like that constant reminder of you,
know don't take this for, granted and just how special
of a player he. Is is there anything you've seen
from an approach standpoint at the plate that has led
to some of this recent success that we've.

Seen, man he's gained some sort of pitch recognition that
it just felt like he hasn't had yet in his.
Career his walk grate is up and his strikeout rate is,
down and the fact that for, me the performance is
looking even better than it did last. Year there's a
statistic THAT i love to look, at whether you're talking

about good luck or bad luck for a, hitter and
that's batting average on balls in. Play his batting average
on balls and play was actually higher last year than
it was this. Year but his batting average, overall the
number that actually matters and talks about the production that he's,
had not the luck that he, gets says that he is.
Better so the fact that he is able to parlay

better plate discipline into more production from left luck in
the field just tells you that this is only the.
Beginning everything that he's done here over this past, week
he's just scratching the, surface AND i really expect him
to continue this meteoric rise at the plate that we've.
Seen and maybe there's a little bit of he's being

cautious with the hamstring and that's why we haven't seen
as many stolen bases as we would have. Expected AND
i think he's on pace to steal less than fifty
bags this, year which would surprise me if that ends
up being the. Case but the fact that he's done
so much better at the plate that he's looking even

to believe that there's a lot of folks looking around

up all of the hype that has surrounded him in

tough times trying to get anybody with productive at bats

been on base for pretty much all of the ground

he's the guy that's really been starting everything off for this.

him at the beginning of the year to get on
base at least twice in every ball, game and he
