Is you Nope, Thanks to Skyline Chilli.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
It's ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station at Cincy three
to sixthy Also on the iHeartRadio apper, you can leave
us a talkback. We're gonna give away not one, but
two Sinsy shirts gift cards today in our number two.
That's part of a loaded our number two, we have
Charlie Goldsmith at one o'clock. We have your talkbacks right
(01:26):
after that, and then we'll vote on a talkback pair
of winners for this week after that. As we get
into our number three. I know they don't play this weekend,
but it just wouldn't feel right to not get a
chance to talk to Tommy g Tommy is on vacation, but
he's gonna take time at two o'clock and then after
Tommy in studio today, my friends at Artsman. If you
(01:50):
don't know what Artsman is, look it up. But they
are doing some really cool things with memorabilia from courts
to fields and so much in between. And seeing that
we are a sports radio show, I like history. We're
going to tie in history and sports with what the
folks at Artsman are doing. That will be in the
(02:12):
third hour as well. No Moagger today, his weekend has
already started, so we'll figure out what we're gonna do
for quick hits. But all of that happening once we
get to our number two. Meaning if you want to
talk to us today, our number one is a prime
opportunity to do so. Five one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty Reds did not play yesterday. Did you see
(02:34):
the team they play tonight and what they did yesterday, Austin.
I can't say that I did. The Arizona Diamondbacks come
into town. We took a break from baseball, that's fair.
But the Arizona Diamondbacks, Austin, they played in Atlanta yesterday,
they played day baseball. You ready for this. I'm ready.
The Braves singled in a run in the bottom of
(02:55):
the eighth to go up ten to four on the
Arizona Diamondbacks. Yes, the Diamondbacks proceeded to score seven in
the top of the ninth to beat the Braves. Wow.
They overcame a ten to four to ninth inning deficit
to beat the Atlanta Braves.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
It's gotta be dark times in Atlanta. Man, My goodness,
team can't score and then when they do, the bullpen
blows it.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yep. Lead yesterday. Iohannio Suarez coming back into town for
the Reds. Yeah, he should get a nice, nice ovation.
He's been here a couple of times since, hasn't he.
I think so. We'll talk about the series coming up
this weekend, but also on this date in twenty twenty three,
(03:39):
the debut of Elie de la Cruz for the Cincinnati Reds.
We'll talk about what's happened from that date until now.
The Cincinnati Bengals. We have a couple of different things
we could talk from a Bengal standpoint. We've got some
Mike Greenberg audio on Joe Burrow that we will play.
We'll talk a little bit about the roster strength of
this team and as Paul Danner Junior hoarded a new
(04:01):
sense of urgency on display with what's been happening over
the last couple weeks. We'll get to all of that
here in our number one along with your phone calls
five to one to three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty
last night. A couple things happening in the sports world,
none more prevalent than what the Indiana Pacers did last night.
(04:23):
The Pacers led Game one of the NBA Finals for
all of point three seconds. Point three seconds they led.
It was the final point three seconds of the game,
as they overcome another double digit deficit, this time on
the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder led by Tyrese Halliburton,
(04:46):
who hits the game winner and the Pacers absolutely steal
Game one against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Is it starting
to feel austin the way the Pacers have won these games?
Like it's almost a team of destiny?
Speaker 5 (05:01):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
No, I don't think so. I mean, it is unbelievable.
Is that what you think? I think?
Speaker 6 (05:06):
So?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Okay? I mean the amount of comebacks that they've made
against really, really good basketball teams is incredible. If you
if you think back. April twenty ninth, Indiana trailed Milwaukee
won eighteen to one eleven with thirty four seconds left.
They won. May sixth, Indiana trailed Cleveland one nineteen to
(05:29):
one twelve with forty eight seconds left. They won. May
twenty first, Indiana trailed New York one twenty one to
one twelve with fifty one seconds left. They won with
nine forty two left. Last night, the Pacers were down
by fifteen points. They came back and won the game.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
They just have a way of coming at you in waves.
I heard someone describe it this morning as like they
almost lull you to sleep, and then in the fourth
quarter they make every shot. I saw a video mashup
of Halliburton this year shots in the final two minutes
to either tie or take the lead this season, and
(06:10):
I think he's like twelve for fifteen on the year.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Crazy.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
He is on a run of clutch shooting, clutch performancing
or performance in the biggest moments and coming through in
those moments. So it's been fun to watch man. I
mean seriously, and especially considering all the stuff that was
talked about Tyrese Haliburton, I mean, the NBA players In
(06:36):
an anonymous survey with The Athletic voted him as the
most overrated player in the NBA. He did not make
the All Star team. He was on the Olympic team
but didn't have a very big role. Just kind of
a dude that I guess people didn't take seriously. And
(06:58):
if you look on those dumb shows where they scream
and yell at each other, today they're debating whether or
not he's a superstar instead of talking about how Rick
Carlisle so great managed the game at the end of
the game, with the timeouts, with the substitutions, and with
adjusting to what Oklahoma City was doing to Tyrese Haliburton
(07:20):
and helping create a run in the fourth quarter. Who
cares if he's a superstar or not. He's playing out
of this world. Yep, and enjoy it. Indiana steals one
game one in ok Se. I mean, that's a great story.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Nine and a half point underdogs shake Guilders. Alexander was fantastic.
He had thirty eight points on the night, Jaylen Williams
had seventeen, and Lou Dort made five threes last night.
But boo, I think what was on display for me
a lot of people talk about the depth of Oklahoma
City Austin. Last night, TJ McConnell had nine, Tyrese Haliburton
(07:55):
and Andrew Nemhart had fourteen points apiece. Miles Turner had fifteen,
aaron Ne Smith had ten, and Pascal Siakam had nineteen.
They didn't have one starter over twenty points, but they
have so much talent and depth. How about Obi Topping
last night made five threes for the Pacers.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Obi didn't have that good of a game and then
turned it around late. That's what they do. They just
never seteen.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
He had seventeen points, and a lot of Obi's threes
I felt like were when it felt like the game
was almost out of hand. Twelve, thirteen, then he hits
a three, nine, then he hits a three. They just
scratch and they claw, and they're the most dangerous now
because they just have all the belief because they've done
it so many times. They literally never feel like they're
out of a game. Fantastic stuff, awesome, awesome to watch.
(08:44):
Game two will come your way Sunday on ABC. But man,
that is a good start to the NBA Finals, where
a lot of folks were h were non committed on
how good the Finals were going to be. Game one
was fantastic.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
I have something I'd like to complain about with the
National Basketball Association. You know, Moe was tweeting about this.
Felt like every single tweet I saw was about this.
Where is the aura? Yeah, where is the brand the finals?
Where's the experience of what the NBA Finals is supposed
(09:18):
to be? Do you remember ten twenty years ago the
commercials about NBA It's where amazing happens. And it used
to be slow motion and the iconic footage, And there
was always a way to tell when highlights or moments
or arenas were jammed for the NBA Finals, whether that
be the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the floor or just
(09:41):
the cursive script Finals written on the floor, or the
patches on the front of the jerseys, whatever it might be,
there was something to tell you this is the NBA Finals,
and last night you saw nothing of that. I didn't
even hear the Finals theme that ABC and ESPN used
to play.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I like the introductions in the Finals, Yeah didn't show that.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
And the reason for this, as Moe pointed out, is
that ad space has cluttered everything. Yeah, I mean the
two giant ads on the floor were for the arena,
and I'm sure they paid a lot of money for those.
That's not going anywhere. And then you had two CGI
YouTube TV graphics that took off, took up the baseline,
(10:28):
and then the other two baselines were blank. And because
the ad space on the front of the uniform, the
NBA Finals logo has been relegated to the back of
the uniform. Yeah, the only Finals logos I saw were
at the base of the basket and over the tunnels
where the teams come out of. That's egregious.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
There has to be a way to maximize the revenue
and the advertising without sacrificing, sacrificing the thing that makes
people connect and creates memories. And it's supposed to on Yeah,
it's supposed to feel like a big moment. And on
top of that, ESPN has struggled with their NBA coverage
all year, with the audio mixing like T and T
(11:11):
in the and ESPN two entirely different broadcasts. I don't
know what it is, but they can't seem to figure
out basketball games. But like, it just didn't feel like
an important game.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
I felt like a regular season game.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
If the fans weren't all wearing the same colored T shirt,
how would you have known that was a playoff game?
How would you have known that's a finals game?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yep? Complete miss on overall, what was an awesome night.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
I just don't know how that gets passed, Like at
some point somebody has to step up and say, hey,
wait a minute, this is important to people, and we're
losing out on that.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
Incredible frustrating for me as a fan, especially because there's
so many people that are like just now watching there,
watched for the first time, and they don't really see
the difference.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Okay, I'm done. Last night as well, women's College World
series Texas Tech tied things up against Texas. That's been
a fun series. And news of yesterday Austin happening just
as we were going off the air for since he
three to sixty. Aaron Rodgers is a Pittsburgh Steeler. Aaron
now I saw in Vegas. The Pittsburgh Steelers to win
(12:25):
the Super Bowl before Aaron Rodgers is plus four thousand.
After the announcement of Aaron Rodgers to win the Super Bowl,
the Pittsburgh Steelers are now plus four thousand. Oh their
odds to win the title did not change an not
much of a needle mover. They did not change at all.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Now, is that because people think it's always been thought
that Rogers was going to go there?
Speaker 2 (12:47):
I don't know, because what I think is is interesting.
You know, he's forty one years old. Now, there's not
a lot of quarterbacks that have produced a winning record
at age forty one or older. There's in fact one,
and that's Tom Brady m hm. So history is not
on the side of Aaron Rodgers. What I also think
is interesting, Austin is the team dynamic and culture of
(13:10):
Aaron Rodgers being a stealer now, because it felt to
me like a lot of the players were growing tired
of waiting on Aaron Rodgers, the thought of being drug
along and how is this going to turn out? And
now he's a Steeler, I think he's going to have
to work harder than probably he's had to to win
that locker room over and at the same time produce
(13:32):
at a high level. Now, I'll give them this. I
think the Pittsburgh Steelers are more formidable today than they
were yesterday because it's gonna be Mason Rudolph in all
likelihood to start the season. You bring in a MVP
and a Super Bowl winner and Aaron Rodgers, that changes things.
I don't know if they can get the running game
going in Pittsburgh that can help Rogers. They certainly still
(13:53):
have a good defense. I think they're better with Aaron Rodgers.
I just think it's going to be an interesting dynamic
because of how long this process is taken.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
Yeah, I haven't followed along closely enough to have a
take on what the locker room thinks. I feel like
it's a little early for that. In June, they haven't
even gotten a mandatory mini camp yet. But I think
there is a whole different vibe around Rogers now than
there would have been three or four years ago. Sure,
(14:21):
whether that has to do with the stuff he's into
off the field, or his political beliefs, or just the
idea from other teammates and from his appearances on Pat
McAfee that he's a bit of a narcissistic, selfish guy.
People are like, all right, in the past, we can
look past this because you're a monster. I don't know
(14:43):
if that guy is still in there, that football player
is still in there, And I think that's what he
has to prove to people to make the rest of
it worth it. You just you know, for Roger's sake,
you know, I hope it ends miserably. Obviously we're rooted
against the Steelers, but he's just got to kind of
prove to people, I'm worth all this, I was worth
(15:05):
the weight.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, don't know exactly how he's going to do that.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
But I think if you're a player on the team,
I don't know that you have the right to really
get tired of waiting for him when your other option
was Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Sure, I just I think it'll be interesting. But again,
I think they're better than they would have been under
Mason Rudolph, which they're going to be an interesting team
done the list. Also, they had dk Metcalf into the
mix and lose George Pickens, so they'll be fascinating to
watch along with. But uh, that's what happened yesterday. Looking
around what's happened in the sports world. We have a
(15:39):
poll question up as well today Austin.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
We do because Tony it was two years ago today
that Elie de la Cruz made his Major league debut.
So our Revivefitnessystems dot Com pole question presented by Revivefitnessystems
dot com and coach PJ.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Street.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Two years into it, how would you describe the career
of Elie de la Cruz. Your options are he has
exceeded expectations, I thought there'd be more, he's already an
all time great, or he's okay so far just thirty
five votes in fifty four percent, say I thought there'd
(16:21):
be more. You can vote at audiell Moore at ESPN
fifteen thirty, at Tony Underscore Pike fifteen interesting.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Where would you vote? I would vote he's okay, yeah,
because I don't know if it's fair to say he
thought he'd be more. Because he has delivered so many
amazing moments, the consistency's not there. He's definitely not an
all time great already. He's definitely not exceeded the expectations.
But it's been okay. I don't think it's it's quite
(16:52):
lived up to maybe what the start was. But that's
something we can discuss when we get back. As we
get on Since E three to sixty, we'll take your
phone calls as well. Five one, three, seven, four nine,
fifteen thirty Thanks to Skyline Chilly, Thank you, for listening
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati sports station Loweger. There was
some booing of the team last night when it comes
(17:14):
to sports. He's got something to say for just natural
byproducts of and plenty of it a poor play Loeger
today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty. When dealing with
the issues of ED, you want the right treatment for
your specific medical situation, because every case is different and
finding the right treatment can mean the difference between just
an okay experience and an amazing one. It's almost a
(17:37):
given that better medical practice generally leads to better outcome
for patients, and if you suffer with ED, you certainly
want a good outcome. Tri State Men's Health Practice is
better medicine. They're the leader in treating men's sexual health
issues right here in the Tri State area. Their treatments
work when the pills fail, treatments have success rates well
over ninety percent, and they have six convenient locations across Cincinnati,

Speaker 7 (18:20):
Got to look back to the Floyd fastball covered right
center field, that's going to the wall and the big
fellas turning it on hell round first. Then he will
roll into second and the first major league hit for
La Day La Cruise is a double and it was
an absolute bullet.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
That is how it sounded with the career of Eli
Da La Cruz getting underway on this date in twenty
twenty three. That was obviously the cowboy. Jeff Brantley on
the call, This is senty three sixty thanks to Skyline Chile.
You know I was at that game. It's it's so
interesting when thinking about Ellie's time so far with the
(19:05):
Cincinnati Reds, and as you mentioned you were there. You
have talked before about the buzz in the stadium and
how it felt that buzz is still there when I
take my kids or our family goes to games. When
Ellie comes up, there's a different level of anticipation than
anyone else in the lineup. Everywhere you look, Ellie, Ellie.
(19:28):
Ellie is what the kids are talking about. He he
brings such a unique style and flair to the game.
And the moments have been there, whether it's you know,
the the fastest throw across the diamond front throw from
short or a sliding or diving unbelievable catch, or the
speed on display, you know, stealing multiple bases and stealing
(19:50):
home hitting for the cycle, some of the power shots
that we've seen and the exit velocity that you've seen
from Ellie de la Cruze. He has shown the ability
to do everything you possibly can do on a baseball
field and do it in a way that you've never
seen before.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
You know, thinking about the pole question, you could easily
vote exceeded expectations just because of what he did seventeen
days after his big league debut.
Speaker 8 (20:22):
Here's the two two, and there's a drive toward the
right center field gap that's down. This will send India
around third day la Cruz going for third.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Here's the relay, not in time. An RBI triple for
Ellie Dela Cruz, and he has just hit for the cycle. Yeah,
I just got goosebumps.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Yeah, like that stretch of Red's baseball, that's like the
best stretch of my life. Like, legit, that was the
best stretch of my life for the most part. So like,
even just for that, you could say he's exceeded expectations. Yeah,
you expected dude to hit for a triple two weeks
into the big leagues. Right, it's just a cycle, I
(21:05):
should say.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah, the highlights that you can look up online are endless,
and he's done so in a very short amount of time. Now,
obviously there's room to grow. We've talked about the defense,
we've talked about the strikeouts, but he gives you the
unique opportunity to do something any given night on a
baseball field that you've never seen before. And he's a
(21:27):
special player, obviously, a player that still needs to grow.
But if you're just talking about scratching the surface, I
don't know what else you can accomplish this early on
into your major league baseball career. And I think sometimes
the weight of the franchise gets put on his shoulder,
maybe unfairly, maybe fairly, but he carries so much for
(21:50):
this Reds team and now he's carrying more because Matt
McClain's not carrying that load. Spencer Steeers not carrying that load.
Hunter Green can try, but he pitches won every five games.
I mean that for how young he is and all
he's accomplished, there is a lot on the shoulders of
Ellie de la Cruz. And that's a lot to ask
if such a young player. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
I also think too, it's like if he hadn't started
the way he started, you know, how would we feel
because he was just unreal to start to see start
his career. The next night he hit the ball almost
out of the stadium. Yep, that ball had a family,
the John Sadak call, and then hits for the cycle
and the Reds improved by twenty games, and you're thinking,
(22:31):
all right, like there we go. Yeah, it's only up
from here. And it just has never felt he had
a hit great, really good season last year. It just
never has felt like it's met that since then. And
maybe that's just an indicative of the players around him
more than anything else. But it's also to me a
moment to like think, oh crap, we're two years into
(22:53):
this already. Yeah, And you know, I know baseball the
way it works. There's still plenty of Ellie de la
Cruz left in Cincinnati, but I just can't help but,
like think gosh, I hope the people in the players
around him are built up to support him, to make
him a better player, because think back twenty twenty three,
(23:15):
it wasn't just him hitting the ball well, everybody was.
Spencer Steeer was incredible, Joe Vano was having a resurgence.
Like the players in the lineup helped Ellie. He's not
really getting that as much the last couple of years,
and it's having a negative impact on him.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah, more and more and more is being asked of him,
and at times probably unfairly, and that that's sometimes the
price of superstardom that he's he's going through. But man,
you you certainly look at what he's accomplished so far,
and and and it's a lot and and again, how
(23:54):
many unique moments has he already had where you said,
I've never seen that on a baseball field, never seen
anybody do that, or never see anyone quite do it
like that. It is it feels like it's flown by
and obviously, and unfortunately, because of the situation surrounding him
and his family. He's not going to be here for
the Arizona Diamondback series. That does not bode well for
(24:18):
the Reds as they start a three game set at
home against the Diamondbacks tonight. Obviously, after that they head
back on the road. The schedule gets no easier for
the Reds coming up, a road trip to Cleveland, a
road trip to the best team in baseball in Detroit, Minnesota,
Saint Louis, New York, San Diego, Boston, Philadelphia, all coming
up between now and July sixth. It's Lodolo, Nick Martinez
(24:43):
and Brady Singer on the mound for this three game set.
I believe tonight it's one of the Apple TV games.
Is that what it is? Obviously doesn't change being able
to listen. Yeah, I don't know on seven hundred WW,
but nonetheless an opportunity for Pludola to take the mount
tonight and if the Reds can get something done here
(25:03):
without Elie de la Cruz in the lineup as they
enter today thirty and thirty three, three games obviously under
five hundred and many games back in the Ennel Central.
Let's take a break. We have ah a litany of
phone calls, A ligty of phone calls to get to
We'll do so when we get back. It's Cincy three
(25:24):
to sixty. Thank you to Skyline Chili. Thank you for listening.
On ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Hey Alexa, what's
going on in baseball?
Speaker 9 (25:32):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Ast it Oaks. Welcome back Sincey three to sixty A
Friday edition on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. A
litany of phone calls.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
You know how to spell that l I t ane
litanyce dude.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Sent spell lit without litany. Come on, and these callers
are about to be lit on a Friday afternoon. Let's
start with Marcus. What's up Marcus? Hey guys, Yes, sir,
you two.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
So I was do it with no red y, Yes,
I got nothing reds.
Speaker 10 (26:19):
But last weekend, Tony, your name got broughtup in conversation.
Oh is always good at an establishment?
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Uh oh uh oh.
Speaker 10 (26:26):
Next next weekend, the Savannah Bananas are coming to town.
And I don't know if you guys know, but usually
when they come to a city, they try to get
a Cincinnati celebrity. So Tony, if they came calling, would you.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Accept and B and B?
Speaker 10 (26:47):
Would you request Wade Miley to throw on the other team?
Speaker 2 (26:53):
I would want a piece of Wade Miley pitching for
whoever they I think they got the party animals or
the firefighters or somebody. If Hunter Green had not gotten hurt,
this actually could have been a thing. Yeah. I would
step up to the plate in a heartbeat.
Speaker 10 (27:10):
Yeah, because because we were talking about possible celebrities, and
I mean obviously that the the main one would be
Joe Burrow. But I don't know if the Bengals would
allow that same thing with like Jamar Chase and all that.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Don't they normally get like retired guys too, like maybe
old baseball players.
Speaker 10 (27:28):
Yeah, Mike Ustokas was for the Kansas City a.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Couple of weeks.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Johnny Damon did it once too. Who would be a
good one. I feel like a Todd Frasier would be good.
Or a bar Larkin.
Speaker 10 (27:47):
Yeah, I thought Larkin, but I think Larkin's kind of
ran out of steam over the last couple of years.
Speaker 11 (27:52):
It wouldn't be good with for fans.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
But he'd have a hard time explaining what was going
on on That one.
Speaker 10 (28:00):
I have brought up a good one that he is retired.
He's a fan favored and we know he's still here.
Sam Hubbard, Oh.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Okay, Yeah, I think that's a good one. I like
that he brought that up.
Speaker 10 (28:12):
I'm like, I like, you know that that's not a
horrible one. But I was like, like I said, I
don't know about the current like like I.
Speaker 11 (28:18):
Said, Joe Burrow or Jamar Chase.
Speaker 12 (28:20):
But yeah, yeah, but yeah that was brought up.
Speaker 11 (28:23):
I thought I could shoot that after you, Tony.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
I like it. I like it. Marcus, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
I mean it says a lot about the way Marcus
and his friends view you to loop you in with Burrow, Chase, Hubbard,
et cetera.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Yeah, I'll take it, you know who.
Speaker 9 (28:41):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
I just don't know if a football guy would want
to even step in there and take a swing.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Yeah, I mean because it's hard because they are throwing pitches.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
It's I think Fraser would be perfect.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
Fraser would be a good one. But I was I
just had somebody else in mind think about this, Joey Vado.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Yeah, because his personality would fit into what they It
would be awesome.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
It would be perfect for him, and the place would
go bonkers. I think that would be cool if they
could somehow convince and the way he loves baseball and
like the you mentioned this personally, I think that would
be cool.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Sure, one hundred percent. Uh, Mark in Florence. What's up? Mark?
Speaker 13 (29:24):
They I gotta I gotta Sam Hubber question and I
got to RIDS points. Okay, but let me let me
give let me get my Sam Hubble question out the way.
If if he doesn't retire, would he have made the
team this year?
Speaker 2 (29:41):
They would have had to pick up the I believe
his contract was up, so it would have been what
did the contract look like? I don't I don't think
he would.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
They would have probably cut him and like set him
sign him to a veteran minimum.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yep, Okay, got it?
Speaker 13 (29:56):
Okay, My two RIDS points kind of piggybacking off of
the conversation that we had yesterday. I just hold going
forward that if they ever get that organization to a
level where their team is good enough to get to
the playoffs and they have a deep farm system players
(30:17):
coming up, that they don't deviate from that. You know,
I just believe in in this market, since they don't
spend a lot of money on big contracts. I just
think you have to keep keep going in that direction
instead of deviating off of that and empty and after
(30:38):
farm system.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
When isn't that what they did in twenty three though
they were ten games over five hundred at the deadline
and didn't make any moves to preserve the farm system
and it hasn't worked.
Speaker 13 (30:53):
Okay, what, okay, back, Okay? That season, what move do
you think they should have made that would have got
him over the hunk? What was the move that stood
out to you that you thought they should have made.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
That's a good question.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
I don't remember, but I feel like I feel like
we were talking about the bullpen, Yes, one of them,
one of them the bullpen, and then another maybe another starter, yes,
something I can't remember. I know it might have been
an outfielder too.
Speaker 13 (31:23):
Well. Well, I can't speak for every fan. I can
only speak for myself. I'd rather see my team for five, say,
say for five, three to five seasons, get in the
playoffs because you got a chance, rather than you cash
it all in for one season and if you don't
win at all, or even if you do win it off,
you gonna suck for the next five to ten years.
(31:47):
I've rather because if you get in the playoffs, you.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
Would rather, you would rather suck. You would rather Are
you hold on a second. You just said you would
rather them have a chance for a few years instead
of win it all one year and then suck for
a few years.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 13 (32:10):
Yeah, okay, like if they want it all this year, this,
and then you suck for the next five or ten years. Okay,
that's right. You never saw one, So okay, I got I.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Want to parade, I don't want a championship, don't care
about anything else.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Yeah, okay, got it.
Speaker 13 (32:28):
Okay, Okay, I got you. You never saw you, you
never saw it before. Okay, then my last point. Then
I'll get off. As Stephen A would say, I want
an investigation done on that front office for the Reds
because I want to know why Reins is not getting.
Speaker 11 (32:46):
More of a look than what he's getting.
Speaker 13 (32:50):
Because if you, I don't know how to do this,
if you project his numbers for a whole season, I'm
gonna say, off the top of them my head, he
would run in to at least twenty five.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Home runs Reese Hines in his last seven games in
Louisville is hitting one fifty eight with ten strikeouts in
nineteen at bats, and.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
I'd still take him over Connor Joe and Garrett Hampson.
I don't know if I agree with Okay.
Speaker 13 (33:18):
Okay, power hitters like him will strike out a lot.
I mean I will take my lumps and see what
he what he would do over a season as opposed
to what they got up here.
Speaker 11 (33:31):
Now.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah, they're not going anywhere with Garret Hampson or Connor Joe.
Speaker 13 (33:36):
Yeah, I mean at least with him at the play.
You know what happens when he connects with one them
two guys connect with one. Where is going?
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah, and the only way Connor Joe has has had
many more bats in his career, as has Garrett Hampson.
Reese Hines has not had that consistency of enoughing bats.
I think to make a fair argument of what he
can be or what he can't be.
Speaker 13 (34:01):
Yeah, that's where I don't understand about the organization why
he can't get a more of a look and say
these other guys. So I'll get off and then listen
to the rest of the show.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Mark appreciate it, thank you. I want to clarify I misspoke.
He is hitting better in Triple A. In the month
of June, he's hitting three thirty three and it hasn't
had a home run yet. But in the first five
days of June he is hitting three thirty three. I
was looking at old stats, so I think my bad
on that.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
I think he would give more of a threat at
the plate, sure in a three to two game in
the bottom of the ninth with one out than what
Garret Hampson was. All right, don't disagree one more here,
what's up, Jeff?
Speaker 14 (34:42):
Happy Friday, Gents, Gonna catch up with mister Stapleton tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Looking forward?
Speaker 11 (34:47):
Nice nice, Yeah, yeah, no bang from Mike Brain last night.
Speaker 15 (34:52):
Huh.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Was a little surprised by that they had a rough night.
ESPN had a rough night.
Speaker 11 (34:57):
We think Vegas won or lost money last night?
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Had I saw an article yesterday that a lot of
people were taking the odds with the Pacers, so I
would imagine they lost last night.
Speaker 14 (35:10):
Yeah, and you never know what parlays and teasers and
all that other crap. The straight odds really don't make
their money or not.
Speaker 13 (35:16):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
I know that I personally know someone that had PACER's
money line last night. They had I think two player
props that hit, but I think their other one was
Chet Holmgren with his point total. And Chet Holmgren only
had six points last night, so I know that Holmgren
probably let some folks down.
Speaker 14 (35:35):
So the big parlay guy had Oklahoma City, right, we
need to hear what his cash out number?
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Yeah, I know, I know, I think that'd be interesting.
Speaker 14 (35:44):
Yep, shout out Indian Hill baseball team, first trip to
the state title since ninety three.
Speaker 11 (35:50):
Let's keep that run going.
Speaker 14 (35:52):
And interesting thing on Aaron Rodgers. Are we going to
see the same thing with TV week one.
Speaker 11 (35:59):
CBS hit Detroit at green Bay and Pittsburgh at the Jets.
Speaker 14 (36:04):
Are they gonna send Nanson Romo to green Bay to
cover a good game or are they going to chase
the ghost of Aaron Rodgers yet again as.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
We've seen in the past, Probably Rogers. I would say
green Bay. I don't know. I would just guess they
would just go based off the game.
Speaker 11 (36:25):
Yeah, well, we'll have to wait to find out.
Speaker 14 (36:26):
But thank you to Aaron Rodgers for not making this
decision before the schedule came out, so we don't have
to watch the Jets on a million primetime games.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yes, very true.
Speaker 11 (36:35):
Have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Thank you, Jeff, appreciate that. Let's finish up the hour
when we come back. Since He three to sixty ESPN
fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, Thanks to Skylin check.
Speaker 9 (36:45):
What's going on in baseball getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Welcome back. Since He three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station, a service of Skyline. Chilling. Charlie Goldsmith is
gonna kick off our number two today, Tommy g in
our three good friends Chris and Brian from Artsman. Yes,
(37:23):
will join us at two twenty. We also have talkbacks.
We also have multiple since he Church gift cards to
give away. Before any of that, we have not spent
a ton of time on this, but I know Austin
some we wanted to get in the Mike Greenberg, well,
I believe about two minutes of conversation that he had
about Joe Burrow. Yeah, you remember that article.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
It kind of got brought up Joe's comments from a
week or two ago about I need to play better.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Yes, we talked about this.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
They brought it up on Get Up on ESPN, and
you know that show rarely provides anything of insight or
worthy of using. But Mike Greenberg had an excellent take
about Joe Burrow, kind of contextualizing Joe's comments. You haven't
heard this is that right? So this was just a
(38:12):
couple of days ago, and I saved it and I
totally forgot about it. Here's Mike Greenberg on Burrow and
last year's Bengals.
Speaker 16 (38:21):
For Joe Burrow to even passively suggest that he was
part of the reason the Bengals didn't reach their goals
last season is actually three things all at once. It
is him being a great teammate, It is a fascinating
insight into the drive that makes him what he is.
And it is as patently ridiculous an assessment of football
as you will ever hear.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Let me remind you of what happened.
Speaker 16 (38:43):
Cincinnati went nine to eight last year despite allowing four
hundred and thirty four points. There are only three teams
in the AFC that allowed more than that last year, Cleveland,
Jacksonville and Tennessee. Two of them allowed four hundred and
thirty five, so that's only one more point. All those
teams were terrible. The Browns and Titans combined to win
six games, and they finished with the first and second
(39:04):
picks in the draft. Burrow had the Bengals in contention
on the season's final day. Here are the big picture
individual stats. Burrow ot a QBR of seventy four point seven.
Very simply, that means his team was supposed to go
thirteen and four. He led the league in passing yards,
He threw forty three touchdowns and nine interceptions, and he
(39:24):
did that playing behind what was statistically the worst pass
blocking offensive line in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
So those are the big numbers. Let's drill deeper.
Speaker 16 (39:33):
NFL teams that scored thirty three or more points in
a game last year, aside from the Bengals, went seventy
nine and seven. The Bengals, when scoring at least thirty
three points, were three to four. If that sounds impossible,
it's because it previously was. They are the only team
in NFL history to lose four games in which they
scored thirty three.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
In the eight games the.
Speaker 16 (39:55):
Bengals lost Burrough's losses, he threw twenty one touchdowns in
three picks. He became the third quarterback in the more
than one hundred year history of the sport to throw
forty touchdowns and miss the playoffs. Dan Marino and Drew
Brees each did it once. The point of the story
is this, Joe Burrow taking responsibility for his team's shortcomings
(40:16):
last year is great leadership and it's probably the right
thing for.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Him to say.
Speaker 16 (40:20):
But the rest of us can easily see what happened.
The Bengals wasted one of the great quarterbacking seasons.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Ever.
Speaker 16 (40:26):
It should not be possible for a team to have
been that bad around a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
That good Well said about sums it up, doesn't it.
I mean the statistics back it up. Yeah, and again
we mentioned this when the article came out. It is
about Joe Burrow being a great teammate. It's saying, hey,
let's stop bashing the defense. I could have been better.
It shows the individual drive that makes Joe Burrow who
(40:51):
he is because he wants to be perfect and say, yeah,
I didn't play good enough in the losses. There are
things I could have done better. And the leadership. It's
everything you want out of your quarterback. He's not going
to go up there and say, well, I was so good.
It's not my fault we lost those games. It's everything
you want your quarterback to be and yes, hearing that
as a teammate is one thing. There is no one,
(41:13):
no one that you're going to find that says, yeah,
that's right, he's stunk. He needed to be better. Twenty
one touchdowns, three interceptions, and the losses.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
And to me again a reminder of just how bad
the defense was and how the Bengals are banking so
much on Al Golden just fixing that a little bit.
You can kind of read between the lines and the
(41:43):
way that Duke and Zach and others have talked over
the course of the offseason, and even Joe in that
conversation to say, if things are just a little bit different,
we are in contention now. Is that the right way
to pursue it? Maybe not, because you should just maximize,
and I say this all the time, do as much
(42:05):
as you possibly can to increase your chances of winning
a Super Bowl. Have the Bengals maximized No, I don't
think so. I think they've done some good stuff, but
I don't think they're playing towards doing everything possible, and
they're very much banking on the idea that those awful,
(42:26):
horrid defensive numbers will not be the same this year. Yeah,
And to me it was also a reminder of just
how bad the defense was even with Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (42:38):
So if you can have Trey, let's say Trey comes back.
Let's say he doesn't in this scenario. Let's say he
doesn't come back until week ten.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (42:49):
Can you get similar production in any way from the
four guys up front?
Speaker 2 (42:56):
Right?
Speaker 5 (42:57):
Joseph Osai came on really strong at the end of
the season after Sam Hubbard went down. Can he be
consistently that guy over the course of a season? Bj
Hill was pretty solid when he was healthy. Chris Jenkins
fought through injury. DJ Slayton is a good run defender.
Another year of McKinley Jackson, Miles Murphy appears to be
in great shape. Can he take a step forward with
(43:17):
a new defensive line coach and in the aggregate replaced
the production of Trey Hendrickson. Oh, by the way, with
better linebacker and secondary play behind you. And if that's
the case, then they will be in it again this year,
even with a difficult schedule.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
I think Paul Danner Junior alluded to this earlier in
the week as well. He talked about the urgency from
practices right now, he said, there hasn't been a philosophy
shift in the offseason program. Necessarily, that will be coming
when training camp rolls around. Yet, the urgency and competitive
levels of the last two weeks featured a notable uptick
from the light work of previous seasons. We've often talked about, well,
(43:55):
what's a different offseason look like. Did you see the
passion from Cam Taylor Britt when he intersted up to
the Joe Burrow pass in June. There isn't a sense
of urgency with this team, and maybe that's the first
piece of the puzzle with Al Golden and what they
can do to get more out of this defense. It's
going to be fascinating to watch how it continues to unfold.
(44:15):
For now, we'll break, We'll come back. We'll speak with
Charlie Goldsmith when we come back. Since he three to
sixty Thanks to Skyline Chile on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati

(45:20):
do on Friday afternoons, on this program, we get a
chance to talk to our good friend Charlie Goldsmith. That
is no different today, he joins us. Right now, what's up, Charlie, Tony,
how are you doing, Charlie? I'm great. How if we
look at today, on this date in twenty twenty three,
Ellie de la Cruz made his Reds debut. It has
(45:40):
been filled with so many unbelievable moments. How do you
categorize Ellie de la Cruz's tenure with the Cincinnati Reds
up to this point?
Speaker 6 (45:51):
He went from underrated, like he tried to describe how
there was this six foot five switch inting shorts dot
prospect with power you've never seen before too. Not that
he was ever overrated, but just the expectations thrust upon
him to immediately be playing at an MVP caliber level
and how that impacted him in twenty twenty three two,
(46:11):
I will say underrated again. Like Ellie was eighth in
MVP voting last year, he'd probably be in like the
ten to fifteen range this season. I think he just
needs more help around him. Are there areas where he
could be more dynamic this season, where he could be
more consistent this season?
Speaker 13 (46:27):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (46:28):
But who is I mean? Kyle Farmer, Freddie Galavis, Dekkosar
had some great years, Edgar Atrio was the Red shortstop once,
Edgar Cabrera.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
Something like that, These Freddy Gals.
Speaker 6 (46:42):
Shortstop star and the Red to have Eli de la Cruz. Now,
I'm not worried at all about him maybe not reaching
his total peak this season. He just needs some more
help around him.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
When it comes to this season specifically, are there any
concerns about his defense because a couple of different metrics
would sugged just whether it's outs above average or defensive
run save that he's just struggling. Is there anything we
can point to about maybe why that is or if
that's a concern moving forward.
Speaker 6 (47:12):
First, and then we'll kind of share a little known
factor after this about the defense. It's really just the consistency,
Like he really does make all the plays in practice.
He really does implement the technique and all that stuff.
It's just when the lights are on and you're not
one hundred percent sure if the ball is getting hit
to you, he makes mistakes. That's a part of it.
There are probably five shortstops in baseball who you feel
(47:35):
fantastic about their defense. I still do think Ellie makes
up for the overwhelming majority of the plays. I'm still
seeing Ellie as probably the right second best defender behind
Matt McClain. You know, you even had of TJ. Frigel
because of the dynamic nature.
Speaker 13 (47:52):
He kind of is a.
Speaker 6 (47:52):
Scheme changer too, with how he impacts, really throws and
all that little known facts. You know, where the cameras
are kind of past the first base dugout.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Yes, yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 6 (48:04):
It's a throw hit that like netting that used to
be out of play awarded an extra base. That rule
actually changed this year, so now a throw specifically from
shortstop is what that angle is, goes over the first
baseman's head and hits that netting over by first based step,
all still in play, So that change actually does help Ellie.
(48:27):
It's kind of not relevant to your question, but I
just haven't heard that discuss that has led to fewer
extra bases allowed on on Ellie de la Cruz high
throws because of that rule change at gap.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
What's the temperature right now of this team, Charlie, because
they've obviously had a little bit of a disappointing stretch.
They're thirty and thirty three. They're not going to have
Ellie de la Cruz for this series against Arizona when
things go bad like they did against the Milwaukee Brewers.
What's the feel of this locker room right now? When
you think about this clubhouse, you know.
Speaker 6 (49:01):
Some weeks way on you more than others. Some weeks
you look back, Oh, we're just hurt, We're just this,
We're just that. I think this past week, even though
Hunter Green and Austin he's hurt, this was one of
those weeks where the Reds really recognized the missed opportunity.
And what I keep saying about kind of the series
recently against the Cubs, both of them and then the
Bruis as well, was that didn't play that bad. There
weren't a ton of mischances. Maybe you know, two or
(49:23):
three total plays you'd want to have back, but they
weren't running downs consistently. They weren't facing all these great
pitchers that they played fine. And for kind of your
average level to be so far behind the two teams
or two of the teams you're chasing in the division
is a cause for concern, and it's a sign that
the Reds have to make significant leaps, you know, level
(49:45):
up multiple levels to kind of find those teams they're chasing.
But also you saw like the chances the Reds are
selling are sellers at the trade deadline. Those just continue
to increase when you have games that just aren't good
enough like the Reds have had.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
Obviously, the Hunter Green news is devastating for this team,
as it felt like he was getting back to form.
I know they're gonna they're viewing the MRI mentioned the
back pain starting the Terry Francona as well, how concerning
is it from a Hunter Green standpoint when you talk
about re injuring that growing and what that looks like
going forward.
Speaker 6 (50:20):
My understanding even is that it wasn't like a re
injury or a restrain. It was nothing new that was
shown up on the MRI. But the fact that Hunter
is still dealing with symptoms from that injury, that he
did rehab for three weeks, and that he did do
a lot to put behind him. The fact that they
weren't able to kind of get all of that put
behind them, not to call it a cause for concern,
(50:40):
but I mean they're gonna have to make sure they
do this right, and that's what Terry Francona keeps saying.
So is that a different approach is that having Hunter
do an even more in depth set of rehab and
strength training and stuff like that that might take a
little longer. That's a question I'm going to try to
get answered this weekend because they probably, excuse me, they
probably put the plan together kind of over the last
(51:02):
two days, so I'll be interested to learn more about that.
But I do not want to make sure they handle this,
and so that means that means Wade Miley in the irritation.
Speaker 5 (51:11):
Well, previously they went to Chase Petty, Now they go
to Wade Miley. Neither have been wonderful. Why Miley over Petty?
Speaker 6 (51:22):
First of all, when earlier Wade wasn't ready? Wade wasn't
ready basically until this past week coming back from Tommy John,
Why Wade Miley over Chase Petty? I think it's a
pretty simple answer. Right, we saw the last time Petty
was up, they had him available and avoided pitching him. Well,
that's a sign that they would not to say that
he wasn't ready, but he showed he's got a lot
(51:42):
more that he has to work on.
Speaker 11 (51:44):
Petty's just twenty one.
Speaker 6 (51:45):
Petty would be or Petty was I think the youngest
guy to make a start in the big leagues this year,
and he didn't even have a ton of minor league
experience under his belt over the course of his minor
league career. So I think you saw that based on
where he was, based on what he was comfortable throwing,
what he wasn't comfortable throwing. We'll probably see Petty this summer,
(52:06):
just because that's how these things work, you know. Aaron
Wilkerson is kind of a journeyman in Triple A who's
kind of the other option as well. But Miley, I
know he looked bad on Wednesday. Now it was his
first out and coming back from Tommy John. But my
understanding is around the league there was interest from teams
who saw him as a starting pitcher. So it's not
like the Reds were the only team that's like Wade,
(52:26):
Miley is still a starting pitcher right now. He knows
how to compete, he knows had a more important eats
some innings, and I don't know that he's gonna wow,
He's not gonna allow anybody. But in terms of what
a guy who's essentially your ninth starter is behind the five,
behind Brendan Williamson and Rett Louder and Carson Spires and
a couple other guys as well, to have way Miley
(52:48):
is your ninth guy, Well, that's just where.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
The ed you're at, right Charlie. I know it's not
his time for the Reds yet, but the early returns
on how good Chase Burns has looked us a little
of your thought on the progression that he's making and
where he ultimately ends this.
Speaker 6 (53:05):
Season exceeding everyone's expectations when you look at the commands,
the aggressiveness, the ability to just go out and compete,
like pin your ears back into defensive end term, but
I think it applies to your case. Burns his nose,
how to pin his years back and go after guys,
And that really shows up and kind of the approach
you steve when you watch him pitch, He's checked every box.
(53:26):
They've been wowed just by how the stuff looks. Now
he's still pitching once every six days, not once every
five days. He's still pitched only more than five innings once,
so there's work to do. Part of it is like
the experience of being a professional pitcher. It's so much
different than the experience of being.
Speaker 11 (53:43):
A college pitcher.
Speaker 6 (53:44):
Even from a schedule standpoint, you kind of want the
guy to understand what his schedule looks like, unless you're
Paul Schemes. Now they are keeping an eye on Burns'
inning in case they need him at some point this season.
And Hey, to me, that leads the possibility and the
opportunity open and that Chase Perns could be in the
big League this season for sure. Uh.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
The conversation this week has come up about Austin Wins
and the fact that this team has carried a third
catcher for now so long. How do you view that
roster spot for the Cincinnati Reds. Is it going to
remain Austin Wins. Is there someone else that you have
your eye on, maybe it's someone coming back from injury.
How do you view the end of this roster right now?
Speaker 6 (54:24):
It's funny you started this asking me or reminding me
that today was Eli's debut. When Ellie was going to
get called up. The plan was that he was going
to replace Jose Barrero on the roster. You know, makes sense, right,
Just send a shortstop down, call Elli up, Ellie takes
over as the starting short stop. Well, Jose Well and
Nick Senzella got hurt, and then I think Freedo was
(54:45):
out for a bit, and then guys kept getting hurt.
So Jose Barrero ended up on the active roster until,
like I think, look the middle of July or maybe
late July, and he wasn't playing. I remember looking around like, well,
Jose's still here. And that's kind of been what it's
been with Austin Wins. They've said it's not forever. This
look at the plan, but when you look at how
many injuries they've had and how guys in louis And
(55:06):
we can talk about resigns, guys in Louisville either aren't
ready yet or you know, Cees coming back from from
his rehabit signment, they wanted to give him some extra
time to make sure that his timing was down and
he wasn't going to slump like we saw here and
Stevenson when they were kind of rushed back. That's why
they didn't want to rush Cees back. And then for
(55:28):
long reasons that we can talk about another time, because
of mid round drafting strategy and low level player development
in the farm system, things that they've really changed over
the last four years. But kind of the older guys
who weren't a part of that are the guys in
Triple A right now, and it's a gap in the
farm system. The depth isn't there. Eating you know, like
(55:49):
Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurdaby didn't pan out the way
that I'd expected to contributors this year, Reese, you saw,
you've seen the highs. You've also seen you know, he
turned a long way on that ball at lant On
was pivotal, you know, he made some base running mistakes.
He's he needs to become more of a clean baseball player.
He has the highs, but for as much as we
talk about the red needing to play clean baseball, they
(56:10):
want to see restake steps in that area as well.
So then we get past that. That's where they're at
from a depth standpoint right now, so you need twenty
six guys. Wins has swung the bat when he's been
given the opportunity, so he's kind of kind of by
the fault, even though that might not be fair to him.
That's left him on the ross.
Speaker 5 (56:27):
Why not more opportunities though? If he is swinging the
bat effectively, especially for a team that is so inconsistent
on offense.
Speaker 6 (56:35):
That would have to come as a designated hitter. Now,
all right, why didn't Austin Win hit for Garrett Hampson?
Great question, one hundred percent. You are seeing though, how
they they don't view Austin Wins as a as a
dynamic bat obviously, even though he has that four four
hundred average, even when he was like really hot in
April and we're all buzzing about Austin Wins, they didn't
(56:58):
take away a single start from Jose Travino, who's still
caught too out of every three days and even give
one single one to Austin Wins. So that does show
how they viewed him on the depth chart compared to
the other guys in the twenty sixth man roster. Now
compared to the guys in Louisville, you know Lee by Jordans,
Ivan Johnson, edmund Rios like they see more value, I
(57:18):
guess and when does that there? But but all right,
when Cees comes back, let's see what happens regardless. So
even if Wind doesn't stick on the roster, he has
shown that he should stick on somewhere, which is good
for a guy who's signed minor league deals them back.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
To back to On the the injury front, Charlie, where
where do we stand on I know we've we've gotten
some progression with Austin Hayes and uh i've seen Jamer
Candelario Cees. How close are some of these players to
getting back for the Reds?
Speaker 6 (57:47):
Dave with the rehabits and guys left it uh more
vague than you know. For example, even you know David
Bell last year would say we're gonna get this guy
this many FX this many games and we'll call them
backup to the big league. They've more fluid with that
this year, and again I think great examples are they
recognize they rushed the year. They recognize that Stevenson wasn't
(58:07):
quite where he needed to be to hit the ground running.
So I think they're probably making a more player dependent
based on what they're seeing now. Christian certainly has the results,
he's clearly ready to hit, But do they want to
get a guy who was badly slumping some more time
in Triple A? That's exactly been the case. You could
make a similar argument with Jamer Candelario because of how
that he was hitting Austin Hayes. I believe today there
(58:30):
was a possibility that he's doing some more work, that
he'd be doing some more work on his feet in
terms of running. The foul ball got him right on
kind of that circle bone on your ankle, if you
guys know what I'm talking about, and he just has
to get comfortable exploding off that, and they're kind of
testing that out and building that up and seeing how
(58:50):
that goes. Francona said it might not be just the
minimum ten days, but it hasn't been any long term
concern yet and he's he's been making positive momentum.
Speaker 11 (58:59):
So those are the.
Speaker 6 (59:00):
Short term replacement guys that they're ed.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
You're looking at Charlie from a Bengals standpoint. Obviously, next
week gets to be that next stage of the offseason.
But I have heard players and some coaches have gone
out of the way to talk more about Jermaine Burton.
I know it's not as much because it's not as
meaningful right now, but does it feel to you like
(59:25):
Jermaine Burton has taken a couple steps forward in the
eyes of his teammates and coaches here in the off season.
Speaker 6 (59:32):
There are some changes that have happened in terms of
set up, in terms of everything he's got going on,
that put him in a better spot to be the
consistent guy of the Bengals need him to be. Now,
can he continue down that down that track? Of course
nobody knows, and what the trust burned last year, the
Bengals are going to make sure he goes above and beyond.
But in terms of what is he shown, where we
(59:53):
just where he stands right now is that if the
Bengals play the game to the add that he'd be
a part of the game plan because of their lack
of options kick returner, and then because of their lack
of pure outside down the field speed. Guys like I'm
a big believer in Yoshibash's game, but that speed down
the sideline is when he brings the table. Charlie Jones
(01:00:13):
hasn't shown anything outside in the NFL.
Speaker 11 (01:00:17):
Isaiah Williams, that's.
Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
Where we are in the depth chart right now. So
like that's Tremaine Burton's spot, and that is something very important.
So there is an opportunity in a window there for
him to continue to step into a bigger role. He
probably would have that opportunity if they played the game today,
but he's got to continue to keep doing the right
things to.
Speaker 11 (01:00:34):
Make sure he's in that spot in September.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Do you have any other players in mind? And when
you talk about a player that is going to or
needs to step in a bigger role this season, do
you have any guys in mind outside of Burton for
the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (01:00:46):
I mean, the huge spotlight's going to be on the
offensive guards. Guys who don't have long track records or
any track record in fair Child in terms of what
they can be in the NFL. I'm going to keep
pounding this yem all summer. The Bengals are counting us
Stewart and you know, contract stuff is what it is.
The Bengals are counting on tram Ours who are playing
impact snaps and making impact pressures in plays and giving
(01:01:08):
them a sort of edge that they need more of
on the defensive line as well. Big follow it on
the meteorous night. He's entering a huge year, and then
I'm very intrigued to keep following. Josh Newton inside outside
will even be a starter. I don't know who he's
going to play, or even how much he's going to play,
or if you'll just be a rotation, But I mean
you use the word edge. The Bengals know that's what
(01:01:29):
they need more of. And if if Newton were good,
I could see him becoming the captain of this defense
this year. Now, I don't know if he's there yet,
but that sort of presence is the type of guy
you want on the field. So guys like that and
how they carry themselves this summer, I'm excited to keep following.
Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
Do you expect to see Jermaine Pratt and Trey Hendrickson
next week at Mandatory mini camp.
Speaker 6 (01:01:52):
I've come all the way around on this with Jermaine.
I mean, this is a guy who made such a
big play against the Raiders, he started a super Bowl
for the I don't understand why the Bengals kind of
haven't haven't let him go. And now maybe that's because
Pratt recognizes that he won't get the contract he has
now with any other team, and if he gets traded,
well that's the way to save some face. But I mean,
(01:02:13):
the Bengals don't have Jermaine Pratt in their plans. I'm
also interested to watch Muma John Meadow like that's an
interesting guy that that is very intriguing to me this preseason.
Pratt's not in their plans. Do I expect to see
Jermaine know Trey? I'm not in Uh, it wouldn't be
smart for me to predict Trey Hendrickson's plans because those
(01:02:34):
can change very quickly, so so I truly don't know.
I don't even know if Trey knows. And and I
remember Jesse Bates one said he just changed his mind
one day and showed up, and that'll probably be what
happens with Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
But does the the fines that was it was made
a big deal about with Zach's text to Trey previously.
Would that apply to Jermaine Pratt as well, if he's
still under contract?
Speaker 11 (01:02:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:02:59):
I don't know. I'm sure you can excuse them, and
they clearly don't want to excuse them for Trey because
he's in their plans remains not would Youmaine? I truly
don't know how that would work behind the scenes, because
that can really change team by team in situation by situation.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Sure, Charlie last on my end here, we talked a
lot about the offseason, and Paul Deaner Jr. Talked about
it this week. Just the urgency that has felt like
has been on display for the last couple of weeks.
Have you picked up on some of the urgency you've
seen with this team? Obviously that changes again next week.
That's a big part of the offseason, but does it
(01:03:35):
feel different with what you've watched at least for a
little bit of this offseason program.
Speaker 6 (01:03:42):
I still think the biggest change they're going to make
to try to start fast this year is by talking
about it. We'll see him in the preseason some too,
but how meaningful Willows reps be you know, it might
be more, but I don't know that those are going
to be high impact to really get kind of that
rusted off.
Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
I don't know that you can risk doing that in.
Speaker 6 (01:04:00):
The preseason, particularly with your stars, and if your stars
aren't pushing themselves, which you wouldn't want. I don't want
to see Joe Burrow, you know, trying to escape a sack.
I don't want to see Jamar Chase trying to break
multiple tackles. If that's not where the Bengals are at.
I don't know that the preseason where you get that
most value. So address you of a problem, recognize you
(01:04:21):
of a problem, talk about it, put a spotlight on it,
put a focus on it. They've already been doing more
each of the last three years in training camp. I've
tried to beat that down or to hammer that home
as well. They have amp up what they've been doing.
I guess the big thing is will they Will they
do more tackling live with the ones during camp? That
becomes a big question. That'll be the thing I'll be monitoring.
(01:04:43):
Will they You know, we'll come to that decision this summer.
But I do think the biggest change they'll make is
just talking about it more as opposed to trying to
become the Pittsburgh Steelers and in the way that they
structure this camp.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Charlie Man, thank you so much as always for your time.
You've got so much going on right now. What's the
easiest way for listen Steners to keep up with?
Speaker 15 (01:05:01):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
What you got going on with the Reds and the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
Charlie shockboard and you can find it on substacks. You
can find it on Fox nineteen The gold Standard, the
show with Joe Danimon and then I'm really excited about
what we've got building power Stacks, the podcast I do
with Brian and Slaw. You know, yesterday we had a
you know, a really kind of deep dive into where
they're at, deep dive into the rotation and the moving pieces. There,
(01:05:25):
a long conversation about TJ. Friedel. I've really been enjoying
that project with Brian, and I hope you guys are
checking it out.
Speaker 5 (01:05:31):
You know, Brian on that podcast calls you Chuck a lot.
Have you considered coming up with a name for him,
you know, call him like Gee's or something like that,
some sort of a nickname for him.
Speaker 6 (01:05:42):
People call him gis hot takeout like. I'm very much
a call you what you are named type of guy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Okay, I'm not a huge.
Speaker 6 (01:05:51):
Nickname guy, just like I'm not a big like handshake guy,
like in terms of like sakes, like in terms of
I'm a fist pump guy. I'm a first name guy.
More and more meat potato than that way.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Love it all right? Interesting? It good to Charlie Man,
Thank you so much. Have a great weekend. Man, see
you you guys. Yes, Charlie Goldsmith, the gold standard. I
like eating potatoes. I like the gold standard.
Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
That is a good idea. It's good name, good name. Geeze, Geez.
We need to reach out to Geeze, we do. I
don't think we've ever had him on.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Let's add him into the hopper, all right, talkbacks are next?
Since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, Hey, Alexa,
what's going on in the NFL?
Speaker 9 (01:06:31):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio?
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
When dealing with the issues?
Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
Three to sixty carries on on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station.
Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
Oh yeah, okay, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
It's just it's different on a Friday.
Speaker 18 (01:06:55):
Yeah, okay, talkbacks, there we go, there we go.
Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
There's opportunity here, there is. And the reason I say
that is not just because we're giving away two Cincy
shirts gift cards, but because I only have four saved
this week, only four talkbacks saved so far this week,
so opportunity knocks.
Speaker 19 (01:07:36):
Hello, Hello, I have some very exciting news for you too.
The Old Lady and I are going to launch a
podcast devoted entirely to your show, breaking it down, talking
about what you guys discussed for three hours each day.
(01:07:57):
The name of the podcast. We're gonna record it from
our marital bed. We plan on bed. Come into the bedroom.
Maybe Joe Daniman, maybe Charlie Golds.
Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
It sounds like something Joe would be into. Little Pillow
talks from the marital bed. YEP, they say it's a
different bed.
Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
Hey, fellas, it's Vanny.
Speaker 20 (01:08:18):
I see that Trump and monscar fighting like President Johnny
and talk back matters?
Speaker 13 (01:08:23):
Guy?
Speaker 10 (01:08:24):
What is this, junior high?
Speaker 12 (01:08:25):
What are we doing?
Speaker 20 (01:08:27):
I watched Captain America Brave New World last night. What
a bunch of garbage that was Harrison Ford's character. President
Fattius Ross has a thought named Betty liv Tyler's Character's
name is Betty.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
What are we doing? Is this the nineteen forties? Man?
What a what a day? On X yesterday?
Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Yeah, I guess we have to talk movies at some point.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Yep, and Red Hawk?
Speaker 20 (01:08:53):
Red Hawk was only on screen for six minutes.
Speaker 6 (01:08:57):
What are we doing?
Speaker 20 (01:08:58):
Great points, false advertising and misleading. You think you're gonna
get Red Hawk in the movie and you get them
for six minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
It's like the Reds.
Speaker 20 (01:09:08):
Misleading and false advertising. We're gonna have a great season.
We hired Kerry Francona. What are we doing?
Speaker 5 (01:09:16):
That's not a bad Vinnie impersonation. I haven't heard from Vinnie.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
From you Vinnie? Thank god?
Speaker 21 (01:09:22):
Hey, and miss dear your cat study pouncing me. I'm
the Sandy sand the Sandy, Come on, Patty, give.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
The second and three?
Speaker 22 (01:09:42):
Is it?
Speaker 23 (01:09:42):
Jungu Bean gum On is talby.
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:09:51):
Well well done, very good, although I must admit I
had a hard time following the words.
Speaker 22 (01:09:59):
You guys really struck a chord regarding this birthday chatter.
My son's turning one next week, I believe, on the
same day as yours.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Tony, uh oh and uh.
Speaker 22 (01:10:11):
We're having the birthday party on Saturday as well. Oh,
and my wife ordered a petting zoo to go away.
I asked her about it and she said, it's more
so for the other kids coming.
Speaker 11 (01:10:26):
What.
Speaker 5 (01:10:27):
Yeah, that's a shoe wow, a petting zoo. Don't give
Mary any ideas there's still time for them. There was
original originally a thought in the Pike house. I was like,
you know, maybe do you get like a little bounce
house or something like that. But then I just thought
how hectic that would be with all the other kids,
and I just didn't want to put myself through that.
Speaker 15 (01:10:50):
Tater here, Tater from Burnersville. This is day three. We're
a former President Ronald Reagan's phone, and you won't believe
what I found looking through it last night. I found
incriminating evidence of Ronnie and former British Prime Minister Margie
Thatcher with Jeffrey Epstein. I also I also discovered text
(01:11:12):
and photos of Terry Francona and Epstein.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
THEO that is it's.
Speaker 24 (01:11:21):
God Today, I'd like to introduce to Talkback Nation a
new talkback sports correspondent, Godzilla. Would you like to say
a few words.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Now, anyone was a failed experiment, anyone would know that's
not Godzilla, that's red Zilla. Okay, red Zilla has been impacted.
Rest in peace, Father b A.
Speaker 5 (01:11:55):
Xavier establishment Oh, I didn't know what happened, but rest
in peace to him.
Speaker 24 (01:12:05):
More to come with our special corresponding.
Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
No, No, I don't think we need any more from him.
I just don't know if you have the proper setup
with the microphone there. I just work shop it, you know,
just work shop it.
Speaker 25 (01:12:21):
Totally.
Speaker 26 (01:12:21):
Austins shine from out healthy. You misunderstood my talk about
exercise the other day. It wasn't select three people that
we want all pro seasons from, its select three people
that you can actually elevate their play to all pro.
So I actually would not pick Joe Jamar because I
think they already play at an all pro level and probably
will next season. It's who do you want to pick
(01:12:44):
on a player that Olsen he snapped her figures and bam,
they have an all pro season that would impact us
to win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Who would you pick?
Speaker 13 (01:12:50):
Three player?
Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Cornell Volson, Jordelle Jordelle, Cordell Volson. Yeah, if Cordell Vulson
played in an all pro level, okay, and shirt up
the offensive line, Okay, absolutely, I would put Chris Jenkins
up there just dominate the middle, and Kim Taylor.
Speaker 5 (01:13:09):
Brett, I'll say, Miles Murphy, Joseph Osi, and Amarius Mims.
Speaker 26 (01:13:15):
Also it's Friday, so well, for all you lovely talkbackers
out there, drink recommendation of the weekend.
Speaker 8 (01:13:23):
If you've ever had a.
Speaker 26 (01:13:24):
Long Island iced tea, Instead, you can make yourself a
Hawaiian team, which is the same base the four trifecta liquor.
So that's gonna be your gin, your vodka, your tequila,
and your rum. And then instead of just sour coke,
gets sour and pineapple. Very refreshing summer drink. Hooday, let's
have a good weekend, folks.
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
Anything refreshing I'm in on.
Speaker 6 (01:13:48):
So I was thinking about you guys, as I do,
you know, and now that it's like the lean days
this summer, the Reds aren't.
Speaker 27 (01:13:56):
Doing so good.
Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
You might you know, need some like new programming or whatever.
Speaker 15 (01:14:00):
So here's my idea.
Speaker 28 (01:14:02):
One segment, maybe just once a week where you call
it a box of chocolates.
Speaker 7 (01:14:06):
Bring that back.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
But it's completely different.
Speaker 28 (01:14:08):
It's callers calling in talking about whatever they want as
long as there's nothing politics or inappropriate or whatever else
you want to put in there, but.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Calling okay, okay, interesting, put this in the hopper. Okay,
write this down. See if I still have this in
me here? My mom always said, there it is.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Life was like a box of chocolates.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
You never know what you're.
Speaker 29 (01:14:33):
Going to get.
Speaker 5 (01:14:34):
I don't remember the music I had for it, though, Eminem, Yeah,
I know, But do you remember what the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
I remember what I had labeled? All right, I'll think
about it.
Speaker 27 (01:14:45):
Hey you Hanio Swa raz Doucer, Barnheim, Bahnheim, John Morale
hot dogs the official hot dog after Cincinnati rad.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
Is John Morrel still in business? Oh? Great question.
Speaker 30 (01:15:00):
Hey, fellas, it's at Adam and I want to know.
Do you guys ever get depressed or feel like Bill
Murray and Groundhog Day when you're constantly talking about the
same thing. Yes, the Red's not being able to put
it together, the Bengals contract issues, you seize, failure to
get to the tournament crazy, or even the football team,
(01:15:23):
how crappy they are. Since Fickle is left in the
Big twelve.
Speaker 11 (01:15:26):
Does it never get fatiguing?
Speaker 12 (01:15:28):
Do you just get bombed?
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Yes? Yes, yes, And I don't do a very good
job of hiding it. It's real. So yes, Chris, I
don't know. I didn't even matter how far you try to.
Speaker 31 (01:15:45):
Keep that designed the team to compete the two times
no captains the value, the thing never gonna send. Don't
want to contend trying to hold on and didn't even
know how wasted.
Speaker 11 (01:15:57):
Just watch.
Speaker 6 (01:15:59):
I just.
Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
Man hard to hear again. I like that, but that
was a Nick Krawl song.
Speaker 11 (01:16:12):
I like that.
Speaker 32 (01:16:14):
Pike Household talk go night Tony wants meeting cheese. He said, no,
that is please Pike Household Taco nine. We don't want
Picos to Mateo's gotta go because it's a Pike Household
Taco nine.
Speaker 33 (01:16:36):
Very good ball Hey, you know I was thinking, you
know who would it would be a really good ballplayer
to come back for the Savannah Bananas game. What about
Derek Dietrich.
Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
Oh, great call, that is a great call. He would
be perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
Yep, he'd come out with this leaveless universe guy, brother Adi.
Speaker 34 (01:16:59):
I did think it was warranted just to leave my
little talky back here today addressing some list rumors, Who's
on list, who's off list? Really nothing to pay attention to,
the one thing to pay attention to the Committee of
Infractions meeting friends up north today. George from the Valley
(01:17:20):
a KA dumb boys Michigan fans.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
That's what we'll be paying attention to. Obviously bad, Yeah good.
Speaker 5 (01:17:30):
I earmarked this to bring up the Committee of Infractions
getting happening today in ann Arbor. And guess who showed
up President Trump, Connor Stallions. Oh wow, Stallions, who had
apparently not been participating at all. This Stallion shows up.
(01:17:50):
The expectation externally, this is closed to the public. The
expectation externally is that Stallions is going to show up
today and all on the sword. He's going to take
all the blame and say he was a lone wolf
and nobody else had anything to do with it, even
though the Committee of Infractions has a mountain of evidence
(01:18:11):
saying otherwise.
Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
Oh boy.
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
It is expected that the Stallions is showing up today
to say, hey, I just did this all on my own.
Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
This is this is huge.
Speaker 5 (01:18:19):
So I don't know when we're gonna hear the news
about that, if it's gonna end up being today or not.
But it's supposed to be wrapped up ultimate.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
I'll tell you the pace.
Speaker 23 (01:18:32):
There's are mentally tough.
Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
Oh that that game hurt me.
Speaker 23 (01:18:37):
Man, I had a parlay, but nim hard Man went
to Gonzaga. He's a warrior out there, Howard Burden. I'll
tell you the Diamondbacks can score a lot of runs.
Speaker 28 (01:18:49):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
It's just forse No one cares. Oh Man, words can
be heard for wow. Okay, all right, Well he just
got a cam.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
He just got a feature on maybe the first feature
on his talkback since Guy in the bathroom. Unbelievable by
the what Arizona's fourth in baseball and runs?
Speaker 35 (01:19:10):
Okay, Hey, guys, Jeff and you rich Man Friday, hope
you all have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Is it happy?
Speaker 35 (01:19:16):
As far as the Steelers go. I wouldn't walk across
the street to see Aaron.
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
Rodgers, come on.
Speaker 35 (01:19:22):
I don't think Cam Hayward would either. A couple of months,
Cam Hayward, I don't know if you guys ever listened
to any of the AI generated press conferences. No, they're
pretty funny. There is one from Mike Tomlin on Aaron
Rodgers signing you should go listen to it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
So I actually see it.
Speaker 5 (01:19:40):
I actually did see an Aaron Rodgers one and AI
Aaron Rodgers one that was very funny. When I was
in Atlanta, I flipped on their local station when I
was driving to the game, and the guy there was
playing AI press conferences just making fun of him, and
it was he is. So we have to add that
(01:20:02):
to the rubicon.
Speaker 7 (01:20:03):
Happy Friday, everybody, Hope you all have a fantastic week again.
Speaker 36 (01:20:07):
My next talk back, what eminent from the Great Smoking
Mountains and Pigeon Fork come on now?
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Begging man? He finished out with a yeat, Yeah, I
have fun down there.
Speaker 37 (01:20:18):
Man, bout that boys? Happy Friday? Dude, what do you
guys think about calling Tito lethal weapon? When he first
got here, he was like Riggs mel Gibson's character. You know,
everybody was hyped. I had all these crazy ideas we
were gonna kick ass and take names.
Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:20:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 37 (01:20:33):
Lately he's looking a little bit more like Danny Glover's
character Murta. Oh boy, you know, he's Marta close to retirement,
a re retirement, and he's just.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Looking like he's too old for this. Man.
Speaker 5 (01:20:46):
I wish I knew who any of those people were
that you're referring to. Yeah, that's a good cat. I've
never seen lethal weapon.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
That's you.
Speaker 25 (01:20:52):
Yes, that's incredible dictative calling. First of all, it's been
a long time boys, and good will to the United
States as they go through a breakup of Elon and Donald.
Very hard for blood to watch friends fighting like this,
segondively Ritz fans, if you're Trumps or upset yourself, you
tried to watch Matt mcclayon hit the baseball, or you
(01:21:13):
see Hunter Green injury, or you're just upset about the record,
you can take a shot to vodka. Every time Tony
Pike says standpoint and he start feeling much better.
Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
That is fantastic man. Trump and Putin on the same dead.
Speaker 5 (01:21:28):
I've been trying to think of a way to track
it the amount of times you say standpoint, Trump and
Putin on the same day.
Speaker 36 (01:21:36):
Hey, you know, if I'm running the show, it's my
team the Bengals. Hendrickson stays period. You know why because
I need him on this defense and on that third
year of this last year, I got him in a discount.
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
So he's gonna play for me or he's not gonna
play period.
Speaker 13 (01:21:56):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:21:56):
You know, people get big mad because the Bengals don't
sign good players early. Well, they did with Trey Hendrickson
and he's throwing a hissy fit about it.
Speaker 29 (01:22:03):
Still reping Natty out here a sunny hot zna Ron up, Tony,
what up body, Yo, I'll be home in a couple
of weeks. Wait, Skyline Penn station here, I come. I
got an appetite, yo, real talk out here. They talk
and sweep out here on the radio. So Riz, just
give me one win. He's smelling the sweep Joe Burrow
and the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
Yo, these receivers are looking good in practice. I'm over
here dreaming.
Speaker 29 (01:22:27):
Just want the defense to step up, Shamar, sign your
dial and trade man.
Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
Up and play bro. I'most get it. Come on, I
need to inform you.
Speaker 5 (01:22:36):
I just agreed to a hot fudge Sunday bet all
with Bill Cunningham in the hallway. Oh so I lost
the Masters one. Yes, I still owe him one. And
he said he wants double or nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:22:48):
I said, okay, what do you got Because we were
talking yesterday. He says, by the end of this month,
the Reds will win six games between now and the
end of June. Oh, he's got him actually at seven wins.
He took him over six and a half. I said,
under six and a half. Wins between now and the
end of June, so we'll be tracking that movie for
(01:23:09):
We feel pretty good about that.
Speaker 10 (01:23:11):
Hey, guys, paintball Guru here all right, Rue, and here's
one for the Savannah Bananas game.
Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
How about Adam Dunna.
Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
Donkey the Dog and the Banana photo. Stay quiet, Yeah,
that makes a lot of sense. That's good. You know
who I saw was here the other day, Sean Casey.
Yeah he was the VP. Yeah, okay, all right, Dawson,
you're the mayor. You can just hang out whenever.
Speaker 13 (01:23:38):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:23:38):
Scott Rowland's going into the Hall of Fame. Yeah, there's
a lot of things probably available. D trick about him?
Done about Junior Griffy Todd Frazier would be three home runs?
I think you know, I think Griffy has like a show.
Now we're just golfs with famous people. Ain't a bad life?
Speaker 31 (01:23:54):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
That is the dream, right, Man?
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
If I'm still at office after July fourth, I might
have to keep poutin on the staff. I know that's
kind of controversial for a presidency, but man knows that
a man knows that a drink apparently hears putin Lad.
Speaker 11 (01:24:12):
I'll call Vlad.
Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
Oh, no if we need to be saying ers man,
all right, we're done. We got to vote. When we

we'll just make it easy. Austin, you vote for one,

All right, fair enough, here we go. I'm still ripping
my city out here in not so sunny hot SONA.
What up, Tony?
Speaker 13 (01:24:59):
What up?
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
Body?
Speaker 29 (01:25:00):
Today is a no fun day Monday for me. Lesson talk,
lesson learned, don't bet on my rids. This cub fan

Speaker 2 (01:25:09):

any point this year. Casper, Casper, Matt mclamee. It's good stuffs.
Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
Guess who's her heard again? Injured food. Guess who's her guests?
Who's her guests? Who's her guests?

Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
Not like that was more understandable than the first time around. Yeah,
I agree.
Speaker 34 (01:27:34):
Part time Pike and my buck eye brother Adi. I
did think it was warranted just to leave my little
talking back here today addressing some list rumors.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Who's on list, who's off list?
Speaker 34 (01:27:46):
Really nothing to pay attention to their one thing to
pay attention to the Committee of an Infractions meeting with
our friends up North and then Arbor today. George from
the Valley aka dumb Boys Michigan fan, just what will
be paying attention to?
Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
Obviously bad? Anybody who who takes a shot at George
as a friend of mine.
Speaker 25 (01:28:09):
Talk makes Dictator vladimirt Pool to calling. First of all,
it's been a long time boys, and I want to
send good will to the United States as they go
through breakup of Elon and Donald. Very hard for blood
to watch friends fighting like this, segatively. Ritz fans, if
you're feeling distraught or upset yourself, you try to watch
Matt McClain hit the baseball, or you see Hunter Green injury,
(01:28:30):
or you're just upset about the record. You can take
a shot to vodka every time Tony Pike says standpoint
and you start feeling much better.
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
Oh oh man, that's awesome. Those are good. Those are
those the nominees. Am I immediately our DJ Lance McAllister
Liam Trump and Putin stand out to me the most,
and the place with TJ. Friedel.
Speaker 5 (01:28:54):
Yeah, they're all really good. My vote, honestly was for
Ronnie Ron. I thought that was funny.
Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
Made me laugh.
Speaker 5 (01:29:04):
He's been consistent every day out there in sunny hot
Zona coming to town in a couple of weeks. So
my vote goes to Ronnie Ron.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
All Right, Ronnie ron gets a gift card. Okay, it's
hard for me to not go Liam, but I'll say this,
I just need more consistency. Now it's summer break. Can
Liam leave a talkback or two next week? Can he
follow up a great joke?
Speaker 5 (01:29:28):
And are we sure Liam's dad isn't just pandering in
the child to get a gift card.
Speaker 2 (01:29:32):
We'll find out next week. Is Liam doing this on
his own volition? So Liam, you were close, but in
a week full of controversial political statements happening all over
the world, I would be remiss not to give talkback
Dictator Vladimir Putin. I agree, a gift card. I agree.
I think that's it, as controversial as that may be. Yeah,
(01:29:55):
he's getting it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:56):
I think that that is fair to give it Ron
and talk back Dictator Vladimir. That's pretty good. I mean,
that was a great That might have been our best
finals ever. George taking shots leam with a great joke, felt.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Like the PACER's knicks. Yeah, PACER's thunder.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
And you know, maybe vlad Is Tyrese Haliburton coming out
the last minute. I know we got We're gonna get
to Tommy Gene a second. We got time for a
Postman Law injury report.
Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
We sure do, man. We always have time for Postman.
What's time for Postman Law Injury report? Delivered by Postman
Law Injured Postman delivers No new updates on injuries for
the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 5 (01:30:32):
Oh, I don't have any. I mean, Charlie kind of
updated a little bit there what we had.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Updated a little bit, but uh, you know, I thought
it was interesting. Charlie talked about Hunter Green and it
not maybe being a re injury issue of the groin.
That's something to watch, but we don't have a timetable
obviously on that. Austin Hayes is probably gonna start running today,
even though we thought maybe he would be back today.
But you're looking at the possibility now. Line up No
(01:30:57):
Austin Hayes, No La Da La Cruz against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Hopefully Nick Lodolo throws about eight shutout innings tonight. They're
gonna need that. Nothing new on Jamer ces Marte or
any of the other injured Reds. But Charlie did help
get us up to speed for the Postman Law injury
(01:31:17):
report delivered by Postman Law. If you're injured, just call
eight four to four. Postman. Tom Gallaier is the voice
of FC Cincinnati. He will join us when we return

Hey, welcome back. It's Cincy three to sixty. It's the
third and final hour. Thanks to Penn Station. Thank you
for listening along. A f C Cincinnati doesn't play this week,
they're off or international break, Yes, but we would have
just been crushed the way things have fallen recently for
FC Cincinnati if we hadn't gotten together with Tommy g
(01:32:14):
whether it's I've been missing, Tommy's been missing, something has happened,
and every time that something has happened, this team has
suffered a loss.
Speaker 5 (01:32:20):
I think it's really indicative of my inability to power
through and you know, put the point as well, show
on our shoulders, the club on my shoulders. It's disappointing
for me personally, but glad everybody's back this.
Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
Week good point as well, So we would be remissed
not to at least catch up on break here with
our guy, the voice of FC Cincinnati, Tom Galairder Tommy, Tommy, Tommy,
what's going on?
Speaker 13 (01:32:44):
Tony?
Speaker 2 (01:32:44):
Tony, Tony, good to hear from your brother.
Speaker 12 (01:32:46):
I'm glad that we're able to restore some normalcy to
the force because the last two weeks have been a mess.
And I'm not going to point fingers. Yeah, I'm not
gonna place blame, but but fridays haven't been right, and
I think we're getting where we're back, all three of
us together, and I mean, listen, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Traveling in the airport right now. I'm believable. But I'm
gonna like, we gotta make this work.
Speaker 12 (01:33:10):
And so we got we got two fridays in a
road to make this work and get these guys back
on track for that New England match coming up the
following week. But how are you mean?
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
Good to hear from you. It's it's great to be
It's great to be with you, Tommy. It's great to
be able to talk. Appreciate that. I always I am
curious from just a a change standpoint that you've seen.
We talked about the hell is real and what they
were able to do and go on the road to
Columbus and where they were and since then, they've allowed
(01:33:42):
nine goals. They've only been able to get a point
in the last three matches, albeit against our teams on
paper that you would have thought going into the match
was very winnable. What has been the biggest cause in
your opinion of now a lack on the defensive side
of the ball for FC Cincinnati.
Speaker 12 (01:34:00):
Yeah, I mean, listen, and it's kind of interesting and
I'll get to your question at moment. Like, both Cincinnati
and Columbus since that Hell is Real match, which is
now what three weeks ago, you know, both clubs have
struggled a bit. The crew haven't been on track either,
And is that a coincidence? I don't have my mom was, sir,
But the nine goals allowed certainly is concerning. And if
(01:34:21):
you think back to April when the team really got
on track, it all started when Nick Haglin came back
from injury, and these nine goals allowed have all occurred
since Nick Haglin went out. You know, I had talked
to Pat before the Atlanta game, the second Atlanta game,
you know, when he got hurt down there, and Pat
told us that he felt like Nick was playing the
(01:34:44):
best soccer he'd seen from their four years together. And
I would tend to agree with that analysis.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
And so obviously a.
Speaker 12 (01:34:51):
Really tough injury for him, and you know, tough situation.
Now does that all fall to Nick going out for
an injury? No, but it certainly changed is the dynamic
a little bit on the back line when he has
been such an important piece of stability, and you know,
it came unraveled in the game against Atlanta. Obviously that
(01:35:11):
the breakdowns were not great against Dallas, you know, and
it all just kind of resulted in a really frustrating week.
And I think that the reason for the frustration is
that teams weren't scoring highlight real goals. It wasn't like
any of these goals and goals of the week for
the opponent. They were more so just breakdowns defensively and
(01:35:36):
missed assignments. And I think that's really what irked Path
and probably the rest of the coaching staff.
Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
I speak for Pac because he talks.
Speaker 12 (01:35:43):
To us about it, but you know that there were
some preventable goals there that were allowed and that ended
up being really frustrating.
Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
That happens a rough stretch, and when you have the
length of a season like FC Cincinnati does, you sometimes
do go through those. At the end of this vote,
to me, they're still sitting four points behind the Philadelphia Union,
their second in the MLST Eastern Conference standing, so at
least as you go into a little bit of a
of a break here you can rely on the fact
of man nowhere near playing your best soccer and still
(01:36:14):
right in the middle of everything you need.
Speaker 12 (01:36:16):
Yeah, and I agree, And Kevin and I talked about
that a bit. I think it was after the DC game,
maybe after Dallas. You know, it's funny how much more
it feels like the sky is falling when you don't
lose very often and you fall out a form. I
think the big frustration of it all is that the
three opponents over that course of those three games in
(01:36:36):
seven days at Atlanta, home for Dallas, home for DC,
like none of them are are atop the table in
their conference. They're all on paper very winnable games. But
also shows that these teams have a lot more talent
and maybe the way they've been performing right, like Dallas
has former MVP Luto Acosta, who really did nothing in
the match. You know, Atlanta has went out spent more
than f seasons Anty did to improve their attack, and
(01:36:57):
they have some good pieces but didn't score. And that
game and then DC and I comes limping in. You know,
they they led I think this that was forty five
minutes in the previous five games total, so you know,
on paper, you're like, all right, it's gonna be, you know,
a little bit of a cake walk, and it's not.
And I think that it feels like there's drop points
because you're right, you're only four points beyond Philadelphia, So
(01:37:20):
this guy is not falling by any means. It just
kind of feels that way, and I think everybody needs
to take a deep breath. I think the team played
twenty one games and just over three months to start
the season when you include CONCAFT Champions Cup, so a
little bit of a hectic pace. You got, you know,
two defenders back from season ending injuries in Miasga and Haga.
Now you've lost Nick for about six weeks do the
injury suffered at Atlanta. So look, nobodys gonna make excuses,
(01:37:44):
but they have an opportunity to take a deep breath.
They'll play more games at home than on the road
for the second half of the season and have an
opportunity to pick up some points, you know, straight away
when they go to New England. But New Englands are
playing better, like they gotta be ready every night. And
you know, I think that the time away because the
guys were able to go away. If you follow on
social media's all. Some of the guys got the beach
and stuff. I'm sure the coach has got some time
(01:38:05):
off and everybody get a chance to take deep breath.
They'll come back this week hungry and get into a
regular work week to get ready for New England and
no doubt be ready to start the second half of
the season.
Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
How when you talk about how hectic the start of
the year was, to get not only a break, but
to have more time from a staff standpoint, to get together.
And you see it in bye weeks in football season
all the time where you can kind of do a
little self scout and you can do a little evaluating
and then get back to the drawing board. How important
is that over the course of what is a very
long MLS soccer season.
Speaker 12 (01:38:37):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be very interesting to see
what the plan is, you know, moving forward the next
few weeks, because obviously Nick is out, and if some
of the news yesterday, Miles Robinson not just called in
for the friendlies that he's with the US men's anester
team right now, but go called in for the Gold
Cup as well. So now you're gonna lose Miles for games.
I mean these two friendlies he left for. You know,
(01:38:58):
he wasn't going to miss anything because the team is
off this weekend. But now he's going to miss, you know,
a handful of games.
Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
Even though the schedule is not quite as chaotic.
Speaker 12 (01:39:07):
He's gonna miss some games through through to July, depending
on how the US does. And obviously you hope that
they win the Gold Cup and then you're not gonna
see Miles for about a month.
Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
If that's the case.
Speaker 12 (01:39:19):
Now you're down Nyasga, Hagland and Robinson or I'm sorry,
Mayaska is up, but you're down Robinson and Hagland on
your back line. So you have Matt as your anchor,
but the question would be who's with him in a
three center back set. So you talk about some of
that self scout that you do when you have a
buy week in NFL. Well, maybe there's some of that.
Maybe there's some consideration. They've played quarterback at times this year.
(01:39:39):
You know, I don't know that that Pat will go
to that, and it may depend on the opponent. There
are other guys that are certainly capable of teenage Davy
HILBERTA Flores as natural center backs. DeAndre Yedling can play there.
You know, Als Powell has obviously played minutes at center
back this year, Nick, I mean even Lucas Engo has
as well, So there's different people who can step in
and fill that role. But I think it'll be very
(01:40:01):
interesting to see how Pat decides to proceed based on
the personnel that's available through to the middle of July.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
I know that there's another transfer window that opens in July.
But from an MLS standpoint, we've seen constantly FC Cincinnati's
always willing to make additions to the roster, and you
certainly talk about not having Nick Hagland. Do you expect
them to be aggressive in the pursuit of showing up
the roster even more as you look to make another
MLS run.
Speaker 12 (01:40:29):
Yeah, you know, Tony, we had Chris Albright, gentleal manager
on during the pregame to hell Is Reel. Actually so
now three weeks ago when we talked to him and
he said that certainly they planned to, you know, they
had some targets. I tried to get him to name
a few the targets and he wouldn't do that for me,
you know, shocking, but I tried. I tried to get
some bread crumbs that we could all chase and see
(01:40:50):
who they're in pursuit of. But you know, he identified
a couple different areas he felt like they could add
in their piece I think certainly, and attacking forward is
on their list and something that they will be looking at.
So that's the place, you know, potentially another midfielder, another
wide player as well.
Speaker 2 (01:41:07):
So look, he has the resources. I think he will
have to maneuver some things potentially.
Speaker 12 (01:41:11):
As far as the cap is concerned, we didn't really
get into all that in our conversation, but the team
certainly has some constraints right now as far as roster
spots and salary cap is concerned. But they'll have the resources,
you know, by the ownership group and Carl Lindner to
go out and improve the roster. Now, you don't get
anybody till the end of July. I think Crystal me
(01:41:32):
the day of July twenty fourth that that players would
be eligible. You know, you can sign him right now,
but they would now become roster eligible until you know
that last week or so of July. So the hope
by then, I think, is that Nick Haglin is back.
I know he was being getting some more test done
when he got back to Cincinnati right before that last
(01:41:52):
game against DC United, and I'm sure that this week
he is undergone, you know, some more medical analysis and
diagnosis to make sure that they have the timeline right
for his return. So I don't know that they go
get a center back because Nick's obviously not out for
the season. But I think that, yeah, they're going to
continue to try to improve the roster and make sure
(01:42:13):
that they're putting the best eleven players that they can
make work with the roster constraints and the salary cap
and all that out there to compete every night. Because
you're right during second place four points bat Phildelphia, they're
in a position to have a championship run. They're going
to make sure they have all the right tools.
Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
To do just that. Tom Gallader, that is why you're
the best. You mentioned you're at the airport. Where are
you headed? I'm headed home. Oh okay, after we had
a couple of days of baseball. I'm death in.
Speaker 12 (01:42:39):
I mean, this isn't a bad place to I mean,
we talked about baseball quite a bit. You're on the
front end of you know, getting your your your oldest
into this football world and I'm in the thick of it,
you know, with a thirteen year old. So yeah, we
played in at the Gulf Coast World Series this week,
so that was the citing, exciting few days for the
young lad and he did great.
Speaker 2 (01:43:00):
So it's you know, it's the hardest is.
Speaker 12 (01:43:02):
To leave the beach, right, Yes, I mean, you know,
normally when you lose games when you're at home, you
have to go home and hard work and clean your house,
do laundry and you know, life. Like we lost yesterday
and got eliminated. I went to the beach. Yep, that's
not the worst thing ever. Life pretty cool tournament. But yeah,
I'm on my way back and looking forward to me
back in Cincinnati, and I got plenty of yard work
waiting for me.
Speaker 2 (01:43:22):
I'm sure, Tommy, you are You're the best. We uh
will talk again next week. We'll talk about the Ohio
Cup that will happen between now wait and next week
as well.
Speaker 24 (01:43:30):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:43:31):
Enjoy the travel home. Enjoy the travel home. I will.
I will appreciate you guys. We saved the season here,
so you're welcome.
Speaker 6 (01:43:38):
Then.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
I think we did. I think we did.
Speaker 12 (01:43:40):
Watch when the team reddles off like seven straight wins.
Starting next Saturday, I will know why.
Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
Yep, here we go, Tommy, You're the best. All right,
boys be good boys appreciation Tom Glad, the voice of
FC Cincinnati kind enough with his time coming back from
the beach. Uh. Next, Chris and Brian will be in
studio from Artsman. We're going to bring the world of
sports memorabilia and history together with some awesome stuff that
(01:44:05):
they're doing. Learn about that next on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 9 (01:44:09):
Is it possible to fill your brain with anough sport?
Speaker 1 (01:44:12):
On ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (01:44:20):
Welcome back. It is since e three to sixty on
a Friday, Rolling along our number three On ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati's Sports Station. Austin. We have to transition here
of something that is very near and dear to both
I know you and me, and that is, yes, this
world of unique memorabilia. If you've ever seen how my
(01:44:40):
basement has set up, Austin, you've been there. I know, Austin,
you're starting your collection. But being a you know, a
sports radio show, we tie in a lot to the
memorabilia side of things, and there is something going on
here in Cincinnati locally that we have to share. And
we've got Brian and Chris in here today from Artsman
to UH to share with what they have going on,
(01:45:02):
which is unbelievable stuff. And uh, they're in studio with
us today, fellas. What's going on, hey, Tony and thanks
for having us in man. Really appreciate you guys.
Speaker 38 (01:45:11):
Uh, you guys inviting us into your amazing studio and
uh and let us tell a story.
Speaker 2 (01:45:16):
Yep, We're excited to be here. This is Uh, this
is so unique when I first learned about what you
guys are doing because I've never seen it before. You know,
I've I've seen trading cards, I've seen framed jerseys, uh,
signed helmets, different stuff, memorabil You guys are taking it
to a completely different level. So for those that that
(01:45:37):
don't know, explain what you guys do. So we uh
so we we work with the a lot of n
cua A teams and we work with the NBA. We
run a program inside the NBA called NBA Reclaimed.
Speaker 38 (01:45:49):
So we take the basketball courts and we program them
into all kinds of memorabilia, not just for fans for retail,
but we do it for internal programs for the team tames,
so everything from like furniture and installations and arenas to
we've done broadcasting tables like this like that the Cavaliers
broadcasts are before pre and post games from and then
(01:46:13):
to the craziest stuff in people's homes and it's a
lot of fun. The memorabilia side that people can buy
on our website is just like it's holding a piece
of history, you know, Like so, I mean it's like
you and I have been talking about like getting field
turf from U see right, So the retired field turf,
like you touch it, you feel it, you connect with it,
(01:46:35):
and it holds all the memories from everything that you've
ever witnessed and seen from that time period that was
there in this Kentucky floor that we have here in
front of us right now. Luckily, the Kentucky and the
Oakview group that runs rapp Arena trusted us with this court.
And there's actually it's very rare that a college court
(01:46:58):
lasts as long as it did, and so only two
courts span the past the entire fifty years of Rapperina,
which is just insane, you know. So we have fifty
years of history of Rapperina in our warehouse in Cincinnati.
And not to mention, you know, the Nuggets championship floor
(01:47:19):
and the Milwaukee Bucks. We have Jerry West floor that
he played out in West Virginia. We have nine national
championship floors for the men's, we have three for the women's.
We have the first ever basketball court ever produced for
doctor Naismith that hasn't gone for sale yet, you know.
And it just goes on and on and on, and
(01:47:40):
it's just a lot of fun for us to work
in a business where we can touch and hold and
create these memories for other people.
Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
Are you, when you're getting a court, are you charting
where different big time events have happened on the court.
I mean, are you if you have a court that
you're getting or are you watching a NBA Finals game
last night and you know, Halliburton hits the shot, are
you marking that of Okay, that'd be a not only
(01:48:11):
to get the court, but that'd be a spot on
the court that obviously you'd want to have a piece of. Yeah.
Speaker 39 (01:48:15):
Absolutely, we do our research. We watch these games closely, and.
Speaker 2 (01:48:21):
We have done a ton of research. A lot he
has researched everything down.
Speaker 39 (01:48:26):
It's amazing we'll go back and we do kind of
programs we call key shots.
Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 39 (01:48:31):
So again with the Milwaukee Bucks, you know you've got
the honest free throw of the honest block. Same with
you know, the CASS Championship. There's plenty of key moments there. So, yeah,
we we go back and identify those key portions of
the court and kind of allocate those for different.
Speaker 2 (01:48:51):
I would imagine basketball courts are a little bit different
because football, the turf just wears down so much. You've
got to change that more often are our best caball
courts wearing down. If they do, I would imagine a
lot of teams will just refinish them until you eventually
have to to change the court correct.
Speaker 38 (01:49:07):
Yeah, so like, uh, you know there it's a standard
tongue and groof floor, and you know above the tongue,
you know, sometimes there are different heights.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
But you know, they every time modern in the modern era,
they want to.
Speaker 38 (01:49:20):
Send them down and repaint them more and more and
more to change out their logos or branding their sponsorships
all that stuff. So the more they sand them down,
the you know, they could last for thirty years. We
took out Yukon's gamble pavilion that lasted thirty three years,
which is unusual. And I mean luckily they lasted that
(01:49:40):
long because there's like between the men's and the women's
there's you know, twenty what is it, twenty two championship.
Speaker 2 (01:49:46):
There's a lot of championships on a lot of courts.
Speaker 38 (01:49:48):
Yeah, it's it's crazy, you know, and uh, you know,
it was kind of funny because you know, Brian was
We were all there taking out that yukon court and
Brian's like, there's a like the last remaining piece from
center court and Brian's like doing all kinds of dribbling
on it. In one of our guys, Andrew, who's there,
He's like doing the xavier right center of it, like
(01:50:10):
and I'm like, yeah, cameraman liked of funny.
Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
I'm proud to say I was the last person to
stand on that court. Yeah he was, he was, and
we took it up. I was like, nobody else has
a lot to stand on this now. I would imagine
not only what people are interested in former players or coaches.
I'm sure one would want a piece of that, or
or are there situations where you are pulling up a
court and then using that court to give back to
(01:50:37):
some of the players that have played on it in
the past.
Speaker 38 (01:50:39):
We we have actually and so like it's it's actually
a lot of fun to get the players involved in it.
Speaker 2 (01:50:44):
Brian Actually we had to deliver some tables.
Speaker 38 (01:50:49):
That we made for the Brooklyn Nets last year for
a big sweet redesign that they were doing, and Brian
gave me a big piece of the Yukon court and
to give to what was her name of the player
from Yukon.
Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
I cannot recall.
Speaker 38 (01:51:06):
Yeah, it's I should we should know this, but like
it's okay, Like, but I I I saw her and
I tended to see her, and she was going into
the Liberty's Finals. It was like the last game and
I as we were dropping that off and heading out,
she was coming out.
Speaker 2 (01:51:23):
Of the out of the Uh, it's gonna kill me
that I can't remember her.
Speaker 38 (01:51:28):
But uh, anyway, so like she was one of the
big players from Yukon that graduated and so I we
gave it to the trainer that and she walked out
and she's.
Speaker 2 (01:51:36):
Like and she was like super excited that she got
that piece and and uh and then they went on
and they won. What what was it about this that
inspired you to want to start and get into to
join this. It's very unique. So I've never heard of
I don't even know existed. But what what inspired you
to want to get into this this field? Great question.
Speaker 38 (01:51:56):
So, like, you know my background as as a designer,
stort designer, and and with the background of business and
and so I love all things design and environments like everything.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
So like I wanted to create a company that.
Speaker 38 (01:52:12):
That kind of you know, kind of met all those
internal things for me and I and so it was
kind of by accident actually how we got into this.
We were originally a group of like four guys who
wanted two and all those guys have now since gone
and I was I'm the last remain person.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
But the we kind of we we really thought we
were going to do like man cave furniture.
Speaker 38 (01:52:40):
And then we met with a manufacturer who makes basketball
courts here in Cincinnati and they said, well, would you
ever want to do any kind of like game use
court And I said, well that sounds great.
Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
I love to but like how do we how do
we get that every time? And then we had that meeting.
Left two weeks.
Speaker 38 (01:52:56):
Later Cleveland Cavaliers come back from three to one down
win the championship. They called this manufacturer and they said
they want to cut their floor into twenty thousand pieces.
They're like, oh, we can't do that. And then so
they call us and they're like can you do it?
And I said yeah, right, hell yeah, we could do it.
And so we did it and like figured it out
(01:53:17):
and like uh, and it was. That was a whole,
very interesting story. The floor gets shipped to us and
we have it in our possession and we're about to
cut it, and then they ordered a new floor. They
laid the floor down for the preseason. You remember hearing
the story. They laid the floor down for the preseason
and Dan Gilbert made the sole decision to take the
(01:53:38):
Cleveland skyline out of the floor, and the fans protest
it so badly that we were within a day of
cutting that floor and we had to pack it all
back together, ship it back to Cleveland. They had to
lay it down. We didn't even know where the gold
post stands were. Like, so like yeah, we had to
figure this out and like uh, And so they ate
(01:54:00):
it down. They sent the floor back to get it,
sand it again, paint it, add the skyline back in
and then the Republican National Conventions being held in Cleveland
at the same time as the I want to say,
the uh the ALCS. Right, it was the it was
the uh the World Series? It was was it the
(01:54:21):
World Series? I think it was the World Series. Yeah,
it was happening at the exact same time next door.
And then they're trying to get so they got the
new floor in, they got it back, and then they
they're trying to sneak the floor out in the middle
of all this stuff. We get it and I go,
can we please cut this floor up now? Because we
had three months to get this whole thing cut. Yeah,
we didn't know what we were doing, right, and we
(01:54:41):
got the whole thing cut, manufactured, done.
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
And we got it made like I don't know, like
it was like thirty thousand pieces.
Speaker 13 (01:54:51):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:54:51):
And they also that's crazy. Yeah, when when you're when
you're talking about from the flooring standpoint locally, I you mentioned, uh,
West Virginia, Kentucky. I know you guys do some stuff Xavier,
stuff that you guys have done as well that that
you guys make available. Yeah. Also, man, man, the Hugginser Court. See,
(01:55:13):
that's that's a like there's a lot of moments on
that court. Oh my god. Well you guys chewed a
lot of dirt on that stuff, right, yeah, quite a bit.
I missed those days. Yeah, I missed those days. It
had the original cat in the center.
Speaker 38 (01:55:26):
Yeah, because they bought a new court and they stuck
it on top and then nobody knew that that original
cat was there.
Speaker 2 (01:55:32):
Yeah, and it was like it was like from way
back when it was awesome. Well, you got there's literally
no limit to what you guys are doing with these court.
I mean from furniture and tables and desks to smaller
pieces coasters, mini courts. I mean, the list goes on
and on of what you guys are literally able to
do with any court that you come into possession of.
(01:55:52):
Pretty much.
Speaker 38 (01:55:53):
Yeah, there, we haven't really any limitations. And I'll tell you, man,
those putters absolutely help your game.
Speaker 2 (01:55:59):
Yeah, that's it. Well that's old. They did help your game.
Oh you don't need helping you? Is that what you're saying? Correct?
Are you crossing? Are you crossing the for fields as well?
We are so like?
Speaker 13 (01:56:14):
Uh so?
Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
I mean as you Yeah, I saw today you were
Austin was gifted Ay, I mean as you gifted Austin
a piece of the actual goal line turf from Ohio State,
from Ohio State.
Speaker 38 (01:56:26):
Yeah, so like so we have we have half, we
have one goal line of Ohio State that we're not
doing anything with right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:34):
We did it.
Speaker 38 (01:56:35):
We helped a company do a promotion for that about
a year and a year and a half ago, two
years ago, and uh so we're kind of sitting in
trust on that right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
We did it from Nebraska, Okay, and we took it.
Don't let our ball don't let DJ hear that, because
I hear enough about Nebraska as it is right now. Yeah,
there's a lot of corn out there. They shocked it
for their name, you know, we did it was kind
of fun.
Speaker 38 (01:56:59):
It was on hundred the anniversary of Memorial Stadium in Nebraska,
so they want to kind of memorialize it. And they
had original plank seating that was still there and stuff
like that. So it was kind of cool and it
was fun. When you know, more and more arenas and
the stadiums are starting to realize that you can repurpose
and take pieces of artifacts from you know, from these places,
(01:57:21):
and then people want to touch it, They want to
you know, so you monetize it and it really helps
out Like in the college level, it helps out NL.
You know, they rea you know, we so we've done
programs for the K Fund and you know where they
get a certain amount of the profits that come from this,
so it really benefits their program. And then we've done it,
we did a separate program for UK alumni where they
(01:57:43):
get a certain amount that.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
Goes back into scholarships for kids.
Speaker 38 (01:57:46):
Yeah, you know so like I mean it really, you know,
we try to we try to enhance and help every
part of the team be successful, you know, and like
and why not like you know, seventy six hundred square
feet of flooring that once it's gone, it's gone.
Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
But you know what people used to do is just
put in a dumpster. Well that was that was my
original thought. When when you talk about moments that have
happened on courts or fields and before you guys came around,
those were just being thrown away. And there are so
many fans standpoint that can relate to you know, growing
(01:58:22):
up and watching your team's games on that court, or
you know, remembering a certain play or a game that
happened on that court, and you guys have now made
it accessible to own a piece of that court, you know,
in a way to show off. Yeah, and it has,
Like my my favorite thing about memorabilia, whatever it may be,
is a story that you can tell with it. You know,
(01:58:43):
it's one thing to just buy something online, but if
there's a story that goes with it, it just it
goes a long way. When when you can display and
show something like that. Yeah, I mean, and it's genuine.
I mean, it's a it's a genuine feeling. I mean sometimes,
I mean depending on what happened on that court. I
mean I'm be talking about it and I feel like
I'm getting choked up sometimes because, like I mean.
Speaker 38 (01:59:03):
It's it's like a real thing. You see these players
and you see how hard they work, and you see
the dedication they.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
Put into sweat and everything that's been poured onto that court.
I mean, we found blood on the courts. Ye found
I mean from blood to champagne, right, Yeah, Yeah, that's cool. Yeah.
Speaker 39 (01:59:20):
The confetti is still there on a lot of these
championship courts. See the sneaker scuffs.
Speaker 2 (01:59:26):
It's it's essentially sports and its history tying into one.
It is and we have the we have the we've
been saving it.
Speaker 38 (01:59:33):
I don't know why we've been saving it, but like
we've been saving it for we have the last the
last last spot that Mike Sizewski ever coached in when
we also have the playing court that he played on
at West west Point Military Academy as well.
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
How many courts do you house at the warehouse? Forty? Yeah? Wows.
And if you're if you're trying to break one down,
how long is that usually taking a break down to court?
I mean we're doing one.
Speaker 38 (02:00:03):
We're doing one right now for the Golden State Warriors
the practice facility court where you got to.
Speaker 2 (02:00:08):
Do it in about a month and a half, so yeah,
not a lot of time.
Speaker 13 (02:00:12):
Now.
Speaker 38 (02:00:12):
This one's actually we had to bring some extra help
and to kind of break this one down because we're
helping to redress the offices in San Francisco with this, okay,
with with some of the stuff, and they're doing a
lot of programs like making pieces for the players that
all the players for the past twenty five years have
played on.
Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
It's like, yeah, saw that list of players. That's incredible extensive.
Speaker 39 (02:00:35):
Yeah, so it's cool to be able to get that
piece right back into their hands.
Speaker 38 (02:00:39):
Yeah, Yeah, it's it's uh, you know, sometimes I get
overwhelmed with all the things that we have going on,
you know, And we're bringing in the Dallas Mavericks right now,
we're bringing in Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies. We just got
the twenty twenty five All Star Court in from San Francisco,
which is kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (02:00:58):
Look, you.
Speaker 39 (02:01:00):
Know, and I can't think of we're doing some partnerships
with Lids Deck where Lids were, We're going to release
certain products in the l A store as well as
the all of America.
Speaker 2 (02:01:15):
It's such a it's a unique piece.
Speaker 13 (02:01:17):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:01:17):
I know Austin and I are both big into trading cards.
You're in a piece now where they're putting memorabilia in
trading cards now, from bats to courts to cleats to everything.
So it is it's it's that history that that ties
people to it, that that make it so much more enjoyable.
Speaker 38 (02:01:35):
Yeah, it's it's really it's cool then, and that's uh,
we're actually kind of coming up with can't say we're
not saying trading cards, so it's not trading cards, definitely
not trade card, but we're coming up with like a
and these are like really cool, like you this is
something that you should start collecting.
Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
And my wife would love to hear that.
Speaker 38 (02:01:54):
Well, we'll just give them to you, Yes, we'll just
give them to you, so like you don't have to
like there's no mony exchange, but like it's a coin
in a case that has like a and the coin
is made out of the wood, and so each coin
is going to have its own special thing. We can
tell a ton of stories, but it's gonna be surrounded
by a car in our class case. And so it's
it's our way of kind of working around nice all
(02:02:17):
the panninis in the upper decks and the what uh for?
Speaker 2 (02:02:21):
For those listening that that just want to find out
more what you guys are doing in products? What's the
easiest way for folks to do that? Go to www

like twenty eight hundred alumni live in Cincinnati or the
surrounding area.
Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
And then like you know, and to have this available
for people to come and see.
Speaker 38 (02:03:08):

He dissects the local sports scene.
Speaker 2 (02:03:58):
They're not consistent enough.
Speaker 9 (02:03:59):
The way up fourth grader dissects across not reliable Moegar
Today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty Deal.
Speaker 2 (02:04:07):
Since and ninety Welcome back since E three to sixty
thanks to Penn Station Austin. I have to bring up
(02:04:31):
something here while we have a well we don't really
have much time, okay, but you, uh, you put out
a list yesterday of I think it's the top twenty
movies of all time.
Speaker 5 (02:04:41):
It was somebody else's list. It wasn't my list. I
just added tode I quote tweeted and said, how many
of these movies have you seen? Because I've only seen
three of them? Yeah, three of what they call the
twenty best ever, what three have you seen? The three
that I've seen on this list is are The Dark
(02:05:04):
Knight okay, Schindler's List, oh and Forrest Gump Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:05:11):
Now, these are considered by some to be the top
twenty movies of all time.
Speaker 5 (02:05:16):
Shawshank, Godfather, Godfather Two, Twelve Angry Men, Lord of the Rings,
Turn Fellowship, Two Towers, Good Bad, Ugly pulp Fiction, Forest.
Speaker 2 (02:05:28):
Empire strikes back June too, Good Fellas One flew over
the Cuckoo's List Matrix Inception got it. Is there a
point in your life where you want to get to
seeing more more movies?
Speaker 25 (02:05:44):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:05:44):
Not really, Okay, you feel like you're missing out.
Speaker 5 (02:05:49):
Some people said they'd seen nineteen or twenty of these,
and I really wanted to give them Old Tommy Tubberville
get a job.
Speaker 25 (02:05:55):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:05:55):
I think I'm at twelve, yeah, which I think is spectable. Yeah,
it's nothing, nothing crazy. Listen. I'm just never going to
be a movie guy. It's been thirty years. Okay.
Speaker 5 (02:06:07):
I like to occasionally get get a movie in. Okay,
but I'm I have to very much be in the
mood for such things.
Speaker 2 (02:06:13):
So that's fair. Yeah, that's fair. Chad Breundle is hanging around.
Is that who's in today? Yes? All right, we're gonna
talk to Chad for quick hits when we return. He
got some red snows to get to too. Yeah. Yes,
you know if you've seen this or not. Fifteen thirty,
it's called Cincinnati's Sports Station thanks to Penn Station.
Speaker 1 (02:06:33):
Sincy three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati's Sports Station.
It's time for Cincy three sixty quick hits.
Speaker 2 (02:06:42):
Yeah, ESPN fifteenth there looking for Mo. Moe's not here.
It's uh, it's June's looking for Mo. Moe's not here.
It's it's June. So you know he's not around much.
But in for Mo on The Mowegger Show today is
Chad Brundle. Why are you sitting so low today? I
don't know. Sometimes I like to you've got the seat
all the way. Sometimes I like to just ground myself.
(02:07:04):
It's a Friday. Reds didn't play yesterday. Yeah, Yeah, what
do you know?
Speaker 13 (02:07:10):
Ched?
Speaker 2 (02:07:10):
What do you got coming up on the show today?
Speaker 40 (02:07:12):
Got Richard Skinner, Skinny and Clay Snowden, our guy from
Just Baseball, to talk some some Reds. It's probably a
fairly depressing conversation. We're going to talk about the the
Tito turn that's going on. Everybody's turning on Tito. Tito,
according to Tito, the Magnificent. Look, we've been doing this
(02:07:33):
for twenty years now. The only guy that's been able
to do it at a pretty high level consistently was
Dusty Baker, and they ran him out of town and.
Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
Did the same thing with Davy Johnson. Yeah, I mean
Davy Johnson. Look, do I think Tito has been perfect?
Do I think he is.
Speaker 40 (02:07:51):
Answered some of the things that I thought Tito would
answer in coming here? Noah. But it's organizational. It's it's
not the manager. It's not necessarily the GM. You can
point fingers all you want, because those are the the
guys that are in the front lines taking the arrows.
But we all know where this stems from, right, Yes,
(02:08:16):
And I mean I get it. Complaining about ownership doesn't
do a whole lot of good because they don't they
don't plan on going anywhere. But this season is just
another prime example, Tony, of where are you gonna go? Yeah,
they don't. We knew the holes in this roster this offseason.
We talked about it the entire offseason. What did we
(02:08:39):
talk about coming into the season, probably gonna be about
this is a five hundred roster. They built a team
that is good enough to just kind of hover around
five hundred all year.
Speaker 2 (02:08:49):
Guess what?
Speaker 40 (02:08:49):
And then we're shocked when they hover around five hundred
all year like look like you see basketball last year.
I get the frustration that was supposed to be a
better team correct and weren't, And there's frustration, inherent frustration
in that.
Speaker 2 (02:09:03):
Sure.
Speaker 40 (02:09:04):
I don't quite understand the frustration when the team is
exactly what we thought they would be.
Speaker 2 (02:09:11):
They are who they thought they are, who we thought
they are they are I was looking for more.
Speaker 40 (02:09:17):
PFF has the Bengals as the eighteenth eighteenth roster in
the NFL. I think that's probably unfortunately fair. We're what
four the last four drafts have produced what at best minimal.
Speaker 2 (02:09:35):
A lot of folks that you're relying on this year
to be better is what the last couple drafts have produced.
Speaker 40 (02:09:40):
I mean, every time you tell it, it's all guys
from these last three four drafts that it's time for
this guy to hope this guy can make.
Speaker 2 (02:09:46):
This guy makes a step. But they did.
Speaker 40 (02:09:50):
They added you know, there's a lot of a lot
of talk about them adding two people to the front office.
Well they lost one, that they added one. They had
a piece, one piece to the front office. So that's
gonna fix it. That's gonna fit. But it does say
maybe they looked at this draft and went, where do
(02:10:12):
we go wrong?
Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
How do we get here? Yeah, it might need a
little more help. Next week's a big week. It is
a big week, Trey Hendrickson going to show up, Jermaine
pract gonna show up, Shamar Stewart going to practice. I mean,
those are defensive pieces on a brutal defense. And you know,
I know that the pushback is it's it's early June.
But when you have a new defensive coordinator who's installing
(02:10:34):
a new skin, everybody to be You need everyone to
be there because you're missing out on important time.
Speaker 40 (02:10:39):
Talk about college football like we when freshmen come in, right,
the difference in guys that come in in January and
get those fifteen spring practices right, How those guys are
ready to contribute in the fall as opposed to the
guys that come in in the summer.
Speaker 2 (02:10:54):
I mean, it's why coaches talking about bull practices being
so important. Yeah. At the same point, what's say that's right,
that's true. Bowl games, We'll.
Speaker 40 (02:11:03):
Talk about Aaron Rodgers. So that the Steelers, does it
change anything in this division?
Speaker 2 (02:11:08):
I don't think so. I think they're more formidable than
they would have been obviously with Mason Rudolph. But you know,
is Rogers, I mean, how how in is Rogers right?
And no, financially he's in.
Speaker 40 (02:11:20):
Is that a spot that can handle, right, Aaron Rodgers,
That is that is not their DNA, correct Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (02:11:28):
Yeah, So I think the fit is going to be interesting.
I also think the amount of time he's just kind
of drug his feet, yeah, makes it even more interesting. So,
you know, I think there's a lot there pacers under.
I love watching those two teams play basketball. Yeah if
the small market and I don't care. I thinks like
(02:11:50):
six or seven guys last night in double figures, no
one over twenty. Yeah.
Speaker 40 (02:11:53):
I like watching teams that share the ball. That When
Corey Evans, who's the new GM for the Cincinnati Bearcats,
worked for the Oklahoma City Thunder and when he first
got the job, we had him on Bearcut Journal and
we're kind of picking his brain about what is important
to him when building a roster, and the one thing
(02:12:14):
that he said that stood out was processing, the ability
to process. Like last year's team, I think one of
their biggest problems was they'd make a pass and then
the guy would catch and hold, and even if you
hold for a second, the defense resets and now you're
going against the set defense again. It's that like I
(02:12:37):
liken it to, like the loading screen, you get the
little the ball passes and then you get a second
of that little loading circle. Those two teams don't don't
don't the ball immediately just goes the guy knows catching
the ball. Do I have a play or do I
need to keep it moving and watching those two teams play.
Hopefully as a you know, sports or copy cat right,
(02:13:01):
hopefully a lot of people look around and start copycatting
what the Pacers and the thunder are doing because they're
they're doing it right.
Speaker 2 (02:13:08):
Yeah. On this day in twenty twenty three, Elie made
his debut for the Rets. Yeah, Austin, can you give
Chad our poll question and see how Chad.
Speaker 5 (02:13:18):
Votes all Revive Fitness Systems dot Com Poll question brought
to you by Revive Fitness Systems dot Com and coach PJ.
Speaker 2 (02:13:23):
Street.
Speaker 5 (02:13:24):
Two years into it, how would you describe the career
of Ellie day La Cruz options he exceeded expectations. I
thought there'd be more, he's already an all time great,
or he's okay?
Speaker 2 (02:13:36):
How do you view Ellie at this point?
Speaker 40 (02:13:40):
I don't know that any of those fit me perfectly.
I guess the one that would most likely rep he's okay,
Like he's he's been good. He like when you when
he does, like the numbers pop up. There hasn't been
anybody to do this in Major League Baseball. He's done
so many individual things that you marvel at. Yeah, but
(02:14:00):
you can still see that there's growing that needs to happen. Sure,
And I also think it's fair to say that there
is fair or not. There's so much on his shoulders.
Speaker 2 (02:14:08):
They're asking him and the guys that we're supposed to
kind of ride with him, Matt McClain, Spencer Steere, they're not.
Speaker 40 (02:14:14):
They're asking him to be Joe Burrow. Yeah, and they
don't have Jamar Chason T Higgins.
Speaker 2 (02:14:19):
Sure. I mean I get what Hunter Green maybe is. Yeah,
who pitchers won every five days?
Speaker 40 (02:14:24):
Hunter Green is T Higgins. Something's out there once every
five games. Yes, but it's it's it's almost again it's
kind of the price of stardom. But there's there's so
much on his shoulders. Yeah, I mean, the problem is
they expect so much of him that he has been
at times an all time great in terms of like
the first two years of a career. He has done
(02:14:46):
things that got like you know you're looking at hasn't
been done since Barry Bonds or ten grif ever, And
we get caught up in the day to day here
because they're not winning, because they're not good enough, because
there's not a roster around him that is competent. You know,
(02:15:07):
it's frustrating because you're looking at the Cubs and the
Brewers and the Cardinals and they're all in varying states
of rebuild or reload or whatever it is. It feels
like they're all significantly ahead of the Reds, and the
Reds probably have the best piece. If you were drafting
off of those four teams, right, would you take Ellie first?
Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
Correct?
Speaker 40 (02:15:27):
At least position players probably take Ellie first, and the
Reds are fourth. And that's frustrating, And it goes back
to ownership and do you really want to be a
championship baseball franchise or are you perfectly content being thirty
and thirty three? Yeah, sixty three games into the season
(02:15:47):
because people are gonna fill up the ballpark, you're gonna
be able to say in August, we're four games out
of this, the third wild card, Reds.
Speaker 2 (02:15:54):
Baseball, Big Red Machines getting honored soon.
Speaker 5 (02:15:57):
Yeah, final result of our revive fitnesssystems dot Com poll question,
fifty seven percent say I thought there'd be more, twenty
four percent say he's okay, twelve percent say he's exceeded expectations,
and five point eight.
Speaker 40 (02:16:13):
Percent say all time tough. What I mean, what would
cut down the airs, be a little bit better in.
Speaker 5 (02:16:19):
The field, consistency on defense, down the strikeouts, and less strikeouts.
Speaker 40 (02:16:24):
You're in the strikeout era. Guys strikeout a ton. That
is baseball in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 5 (02:16:29):
In to Ellie's credit, he has improved, improved, and he's
walking more. His walk percentage in the seventieth percentile of
Major League Baseball over ten percent of the time, and
each year his strikeout percentage has gone down. So he
is absolutely trending in the right direction. Thought there'd be more.
Is that part of the problem with this town? Well,
(02:16:49):
I think it's part of the problem of what the
team has put on him too.
Speaker 2 (02:16:52):
Yeah, it's fair. I think that's a lot of it.
That's Chad Brundle. He's next on The Mulwaiger Show. We're done,
have a great weekend, have a great rest of your Friday.
It's gonna take me an hour to get that chair
up to a height that I can use. Start it
right here, bring the mic down. The mic. I mean
it's only as the low as it goes. This is
more about me being lazy and I didn't want to
(02:17:12):
deal with the mic today. Shock like, you know what,
I'll just do it because I kept raising it and
then it would slowly fall, and I'm like, you know what,
screw it. I'll come down to the MIC's level today.
Speaker 40 (02:17:22):
It's gonna take me fifteen minutes to get that chair
back up to an acceptable position.
Speaker 2 (02:17:26):
Stick with Chad while he figures out the chair. Next
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, have a great weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:17:39):
Until U s K.
Speaker 17 (02:17:40):
Wise Cincinnati, make us the number one pre set on
your car radio and on the Free knew it improved,
iHeartRadio app Free never sounded so good, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 2 (02:17:49):
In this week's Marketers Report,
