(00:00):
We now have a guess that I'veI'm not gonna lie. I've maybe waited
the majority of my life to talkto this man. I have one important
question for him that we will getto in a moment. But owner of
the Big Three, the CEO InternationalGlobal Superstar ice Cube. Ice Cube,
Welcome to Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.Yeah, yeah, not much man,

(00:25):
just getting almost done. We gotabout ten minutes left in my Friday,
so I'm ready to get out ofhere. But here's my one question.
I've wanted to ask you most ofmy life. If mama cooked a breakfast
with no hog, was it reallya good day? It was a great
day, man. You know youget okay, Okay, I'll buy the

(00:47):
steak and egg breakfast. I'm justif I'm thinking breakfast, I'm thinking bacon,
some sausage without you know. Soit always bothered me, like,
well, that's not a great breakfastif there was no hog. But if
there's steak, all right, yougot me, You got me? Yeah?
Big Three coming to Cincinnati. Uh. Two, one guy is still
involved. You've had two guys, two bear Cuts that have been heavily involved

(01:07):
in Big Three over the years.James White and h and Jamar Johnson tell
the people of Cincinnati what they canexpect attending the Big Three. Oh,
you know, just great action, the game played the way it's supposed to
be played. Uh. People lovehow hard, uh and physical the game

(01:29):
is in the Big Three. Andthe guys really want to win. I
think that's really the key. Youknow, sometimes you watch in the NBA,
they getting paid, someone's running. You don't even know if the guys
really want to win. And youdon't have to worry about that with the
Big Three because you know, theseguys are ballers. You're not getting paid
millions. You know, they gettingplayed nice, nice chunk of change.

(01:51):
But uh, they play to win, and I think the fans really appreciate
it. The five games for theprice of one can't beat there with stick
and uh, all the games havebig stakes. Yeah. Uh, how
have you evolved the league? We'rewe're in year seven now, I believe.
Uh. And how is the styleof play the players that you're looking

(02:15):
for and recruiting bringing into the league. How have things maybe changed and evolved
as as you guys get through youknow, the the later part of the
first decade of the Big Three, well, you know, I think,
you know, everybody really know whatto expect. Now, you know,
when you're starting the lead, nobodykind of knows what to expect. Uh.

(02:37):
We spent about seven years calibrating thegame, and you know, making
sure that it was fun to playbut for the players and fun to watch
for the fans. And you know, I just think, you know,
everything is clicking on all cylinders. You know, the players, they know
how to how to play the gameor a three on three, which is

(03:00):
extremely personal kind of monoy mono, and coaches know how to win with our
rules, so the strategy, youknow, comes in play, and you
know, it's fun to see thegame evolving into something that people love to
look forward to in the summer.I'm curious if somebody would have told you

(03:23):
in the late nineteen eighties that thatyou would be the owner of a sports
league. You would have, youknow, a plethora of hit movies.
Dre would have a billion dollars andSnoop would be in Paris holding the Olympic
flame. What would you have toldthem in the nineteen eighties if they told
you that I'll be excellent Once you'resmoking, man, can I have some

(03:47):
Yeah? You know, it's justbeen a you know, an amazing career,
and you know, the opportunities presentthemselves, and as you see,
you know, people like me Dracenew you know, we go for it,
and uh it's cool that we cando it because usually come up with

(04:11):
some cool stuff that everybody like.We listened to it here all the time
as bumper music. But uh,Mount Wesmore, how fun was that project
to do? Getting getting to workwith those guys and and you know,
kind of reigniting some of that oldschool West Coast flame. You know,
there's dream Team kind of stuff. You know, you see you see the
USA team with it, with allthe stars on it. You know,

(04:34):
everybody just you know, have todon't have to do it all. You
just gotta, you know, doa little bit to make it work.
And uh so it's fun. Youknow, you know that the projects are
gonna be special when you've got youknow, some of the biggest names in
the game on the same record. So I had a lot of fun making

(04:54):
that record, a lot more funhanging out with those dudes. Yeah,
I can only imagine, h butI've enjoyed listening to hip hop since the
mid eighties. Were you ever surprisedhow much. It's probably not a surprise
listening to me, I was awhite kid from the Burbs at that point
in time, but how much yourmusic kind of got into that world.

(05:16):
And and I'm sure you weren't expectingit when you were putting n w A
together, that you know, we'regonna have a bunch of white kids in
Ohio and Kentucky listening to the music. I mean, we was hoping because
you know, we have seen youknow, groups like the Beastie Boys come

(05:36):
out and and really open wrap upto you know, a whole new audience.
And so you know, we wecame kind of on the tail land
of that, and so we knewthat there was a wide audience out there
if we if we you know, hit the right notes, so to speak.

(05:57):
And uh, it happened for us. So you know, we go,
alad it did. You've got ashow coming up in Cincinnati in September
as well, I believe, right, yeah, yeah, so we'll be
We're gonna do this big three thingon Sunday, but then we'll be back
September and you know, get achance to perform at Cincinnati again. It's

(06:18):
gonna be fine. Any good Cincinnatimemories or I imagine you haven't been here
a whole bunch, not a wholebunch. I remember coming there and there
in the eighties, we had tocome meet with the mayor before we can
play and play the gig. Ithink the police chased this out of there

(06:40):
too once or twice. So youknow, Cincinnati is definitely seared in my
mind. Hey, would you probablyjust missed because right before that, Jerry
Springer would have been the mayor andthat probably would have went a lot better.
Maybe you never know it was afootball player as a mayor. I
think it was an ex Bengal.Yeah, get his name. I could

(07:00):
do another sixty seven. But uh, he was cool. You know,
he let us play my my,My producer Terren's got one question as well
before we let you go. Thankyou. I know last year in the
in the Big Three All Star Game, you had Jaylen Jaylen Brown show up
and show out and come play foryou guys. It's and he talks about
any another current NBA player joining youthis year? Who a celebrity game?

(07:26):
Not yet, you know, butas we get closer, you know,
some of these guys usually hit usup. But you know, we'll see
a lot of guys are you know, in Paris as well, so you
never know you're gonna make it tothe Olympics. You're on tour right now,
aren't you. Yeah. Yeah,I'm in Kansas City tonight. Got

(07:49):
another Shawn Missouri tomorrow. Then I'llbe in Saint Louis. I mean not
saying little Cincinnati, sir about that'sall right? Say where I am.
I mean on Sunday. We appreciateit, man, Tell tell everybody how
to get down to the Big Threethis weekend. Hey man, you know,

(08:11):
just come check us out. Ithink it's herri Attage Bank Arena.
I believe that's what it's called. And come check us out. Man.
You know pro basketball back in Cincinnati. You know, uh, maybe some
of the people there put a teamthere permanently and you get a chance to
see Big three father, So comecheck us out to Sunday and uh definitely

(08:33):
gonna have fun and uh staking eggsis the answer. That's how you have
a breakfast with no hog. Youjust go get a nice big rabbi.

(08:58):

Friday. I got a yay yayfrom ice Cube, and uh I hope
I can find a suitable backup,a suitable fill in from here on out,
because I think that's the end ofmy radio career. I know we
