(00:00):
It's named a few weeks ago atwenty twenty four MLS All Star. He's
having an awesome season for FC Cincinnatiafter coming over from Atlanta, spent some
time during Copa America with the USmen's national team, came back and played
in two games for FC Cincinnati, including that dominant performance over Miami on Saturday
night, And soon he'll be offto Paris because he has been named a

(00:25):
member of the twenty twenty four USOlympic soccer team, the Americans qualifying on
the men's side for the Olympics forthe first time since two thousand and eight.
Miles, I know you have alot going on. I appreciate the
time. It had to be awesometo get that phone call and find out
you were an Olympian. It givesme chills. I mean, it really

(00:46):
means everything. It was a dreamcome true for real when I got that
call, and I'm so excited tobe a part of that team and to
represent the country and hopefully we cando some big things and I think we
will. Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of optimism for your team's
chances in this tournament. Does itmean even more given the fact that it's

(01:06):
been quite a while since the USsent a men's soccer team to the Olympics.
Yeah, I think it does.I think it means that much more.
I mean, I remember growing upwatching the Olympics and you know,
cheering on all these big names thatI looked up to, and for me
to be one of those names thatyou know, young kids can look up

(01:29):
to, it really makes me proud. So you mentioned young kids, and
I'm sure we have people who arelistening to this who don't know that the
club is mainly twenty three and underand then there are three roster spots for
players who are older. So you'retwenty seven, the second oldest player,
if I'm not mistaken, so kindof the old head. Does that carry
with it maybe a little bit moreresponsibility? Yeah, I think it adds,

(01:53):
you know, a big leadership rolethat I'm ready to take. And
it just adds bit of experience tothe roster and hopefully I can you know,
provide any help that any of theplayers need in terms of you know,
experience or any questions they may have. But in general, I'm just
excited to get out there and getto work and you know, really,

(02:16):
you know, show the world thatthe US has something to prove. It's
obviously a collection of players who areplaying for club teams overseas MLS sides obviously,
like yourself, is is there someonethat as you look at the construction
of the roster, you're looking forwardto spending time with and playing with in

(02:37):
particular? Yeah, I mean,I think me and Walker's Immermann have played
numerous games together with the national team. We were together in the Gold Cup
in twenty twenty one. We playeda lot of World Cup qualifying games together.
So I think to prepare myself upwith him at the center back position

(03:00):
is strong and I think we have, you know, hopefully some clean sheets
in our future. Yeah, obviouslyyou've had a role in clean sheets here.
The first game of the Olympics isgoing to coincide with the MLS All
Star Game. Obviously you've been namedan MLS All Star for the second time.

(03:21):
I know the Olympics is a biggerdeal that goes without saying, but
is there a part of you thatwishes, You know what, man,
I wish I still could participate inthe All Star Game. I mean,
to be honest, I'm a thousandtimes more excited to play in the Olympics.
It's truly a dream come true andI can't stress that enough. So

(03:43):
hopefully there's more all star games inthe future. But for me personally,
there's only one Olympic game being hostedin Paris, and I'm truly excited to
get out there. Yeah, no, that makes sense. What has this
year been like? Where you joina new club, you're instantly instrumental in
its success. You joined an alreadysuccessful club, You go away for a

(04:06):
while to be a part of theUS men's national team, You come back,
you're part of a pair of victories, and now you're gonna be off
to the Olympics. Look, soccerplayers, by nature, there's always a
lot going on. Has has hadthe last I don't know, eight or
nine months been a whirlwind? Yeah, it definitely has. It's been a

(04:29):
lot. But I'm so thankful formy friends and family, you know,
keep me grounded, keep me humbleand all that. And yeah, it's
been a lot of travel, alot of hotel nights. But yeah,
I'm very just grateful for the experiencesin general, and hopefully there's you know,
some more we can add to thisjourney this year. Yeah, no

(04:54):
question about it. Miles Robinson iswith us. You join FC Cincinnati,
and you know, you talk aboutan already really good club, and it
felt like from day one, justwatching you early in the season, it
had been like you had been herefor years, and it feels like this
team is really good at that, even getting guys mid season where they just
assimilate really well. What does thatsay about the culture that Pat Noonan has

(05:16):
built and the job he's doing here. Yeah, no, I definitely would
agree with that, But I thinkthat just kind of comes down to the
organization as a whole. I thinkthey do a really good job of inviting
players into, you know, thefamily that we've created and making sure they're
understanding their role on and off thefield, and yeah, just kind of

(05:40):
continuing to grow every day with oneanother. And I'm I'm definitely proud of
making this decision coming here, andI think a lot of players would say
the same that have came here. And yeah, hopefully we have some big
things in the future, but rightnow we're playing great, so hopefully we
can continue that and I think wewill. Saturday night was ridiculous in terms

(06:03):
of your team's dominance over Miami, and people can talk about who who that
side didn't have. You guys wereawesome. Uh, there aren't many six
to one games very close to mein a seven to one game, how
much fun was that game on Saturdaynight? Oh yeah, it was definitely
a really fun one. You know. I was telling all the guys that

(06:26):
most of our games are one goalgames where we win, and those games
are so stressful for a center back. But I was so happy that we
could just enjoy the last you know, half the last thirty minutes of that
game and not have to stress andyou know, be nervous that whole game.
But it was definitely a great game. You know. Uh, prof

(06:47):
star guys for showing out. Uh, what has it been like? And
obviously you come back and Matt Miyoskahas done for the season and Nick Haglan's
done for the season. Unfortunately, those are key pieces. Those are really
good play and so it puts maybean even bigger onus on you and some
of your teammates. What has itbeen like a watching your team play without

(07:08):
those guys and then since you havecome back, being a part of this
team figuring out a way to stillwin while not having those players. Yeah,
it is definitely tough seeing those guysgo down and realizing how long they'll
be out for. But knowing thoseguys and their personalities and their work ethic,

(07:29):
they're only just going to come backstronger. But yeah, it's tough
on the team. It's definitely toughfor you know, the guys, knowing
the type of roles that those playershad within the group. But it's just
a matter of us as individuals andcollectively to recognize that they won't be around
and pruss to step up as ateam and individually, whether that's leadership or

(07:53):
understanding the roles defensively better and thingslike that. But hopefully we can,
you know, continue to work hardin training and grow as a unit.
And do we do that? Youknow, this guy's the limit this season,
You've You've played with and against alot of great players. What is
it like playing against and I guessmaybe more importantly being teammates with Lucio Acosta?

(08:18):
Yeah, I mean, coming here, I knew he was he's a
great player, one of the bestin the league. But after playing with
him for the last few months,I've only increased my respect for him as
a player on and off the field. I mean, he's such a you
know, outstanding player in this league, and you create so many chances,

(08:39):
and he's just as good as aguy off the field as he is on
the field, and I think thatkind of brings the group together even more
so. We're all obviously rooting forthe United States and the Olympics. That
goes without saying. Your presence onthe national team in the Olympics is going
to make us root even harder. We are looking forward to watching. Congratulations

(09:01):
on making the squad and the seasonyou've had here in Cincinnati so far.
We look forward to having you backafter the Olympics. I do appreciate the
time, Myles. Thanks so much. Yeah, thanks, guys, it
means a lot. You're welcome.Miles Robinson FC, Cincinnati All Star, US Olympian
