never mad at that as commentators.

We are used to FC Cincinnati this time of year
gearing up for the postseason. We're often talking about them
in the hunt for the supporter shield. Now we just
want them to hold on to a playoff spot. What
has to happen for that to happen?

Well, I think this is quite a tricky game.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Are you talking about this game in general or the
end of the season?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I mean, the tough thing is when you look at
the East, it seems.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Like Philadelphia that are amazing right now in Orlando teams
that have got so much better and then just flown
up the table is shooken up everything in the East.
So the East is really tough. I mean, what has
to happen is on the road to Montreal, know, you
have a band of there, they don't have so much
to play for.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
You need the three points. That's what has to happen.
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
It's a favorable matchup on paper. I think it's more
difficult than it actually is though. You know, going up
to Montreal was never easy as a player. They're going
to be quite motivated up there at home as they are.
So it's not going to be an easy one, but
you have to get it done.

Have they,
they've tried to rectify their defensive issues. I'm not sure
they have. Is it too late in the season to
expect them to be markedly better when it comes to
preventing goals?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I think against Houston, their last game, they were better
in terms of actually team defense. It was more what
a free kick and a silly penalty given away. So
there's a bit of encouragement you can take about that.
When you talk about the defense, I think it's always
going to be a team that scores more than the
other team. You just don't want to be as bad

as you were earlier in the year. I think it
looked like it was getting better right.

But I've actually really been encouraged in the last two
games from Cincinnati.

You know, they've conceded three and two, but it's been
more how they were on the ball against Charlotte. Really,
without Evander, the ball.

Movement was some of the best ball movement I've seen
from Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
And there's belief and spirit in the team. Two last
minute goals in the last two.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I think things are trending in the right direction to
get a result.

You mentioned Evander and there have been times where it
has felt like FC Cincinnati has needed him to do
more than maybe most players are capable of. And yet
he often rises to the occasion coming into this season.
You know, I know the idea was take advantage of
Evander's greatness, but maybe don't rely on him nearly as
much as they did last year. I'm not sure that

team on his back as we get set for the,
the stretch drive?

I think we know he's going to put the team
on his back.

I think you also need more from some other guys.

I think we know what we're going to get from Evander.
Is it enough? That's the question, right?

When you're conceding goals and Kevin Denke, maybe isn't scoring
at the clip that he can, right? He got two
goals yesterday. recently, but you know, you want him to
be consistent.

He's deaf.

He's the other star in the team. He's the goal scorer.
It's not going to be a smooth and silky as Evander,
but he's got to get them goal involvements. That's what
wins games.

with them. Can he get, you know, back higher up
the pitch and back to score scoring goals again as well.

It's going to take a full effort from your other
stars for sure.

than Montreal. So it feels like a must win. They
badly need three points. It feels like forever since they've
gotten three points in a game. If there is a
specific issue that Montreal does present in a game that
doesn't matter all that much to them in terms of
the table, what is it?

I mean, I'll correct you there. It does matter all
that much. That's for sure. They're going to be at
home in front of their fans. There's nothing to play
around with that.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
They're not coming to stroll around.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
They're quite pissed off, actually, Montreal. They've actually been so
much better than their results show. They just haven't had
sometimes the difference maker to score at the right time
and then get sucker punched on the right way. So
what I would say is respect Montreal. They're not going
to be a team that's just going to roll over
in front of their home fans.

And it's always a tough game up there.

There's nothing glamorous about the surroundings.
