Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of six point seven Light FM. It is Cubby.
Christine's on vacation. My co host is very upset she's
missing this. It feels like nineteen ninety seven right now,
ninety eight degrees and that's what I met you. It
was ninety seven June of ninety seven, a little song
called Invisible Man. Yeah, Nick, how does it feel to
be back? It's uh, it's a full circle, isn't it? It
(00:20):
is full circle. It's funny you messing that.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, it's it's it's full circle. And ironically today our
album Full Circle comes out. Yeah, it's out today. So yeah,
it's been a wild ride, man, but we're just I
think we feel so blessed to just still be on it.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Fifteen million albums worldwide, I mean, it's unbelievable what you've
accomplished since nineteen ninety seven. And tell us about the
Full Circle. And this is a new songs and rerecorded songs, correct.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yeah, it's a combination. So it's five and five five
rerecorded songs. So, like you mentioned, visible Man, hardest thing
I do in a note, Chay, And because because of you,
are the five that we decided to re record. And
how'd you pick those five, we just kind of went
with the ones that had the most success. We figured
those are the ones that the people would want to
hear the most, so and those are also some of
our favorites, you know, So we did those. And then
(01:06):
we also have five brand new originals you know that
are that are you know coming out? We had Got
You that already came out earlier in the year. We
have Stranger Things that we just kind of surprise released
the other day.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
We love that song we heard the first time we
heard that, We're like, this song needs to go on
our new record. We were just starting to think about
the new record and Johnny right, who's our manager now,
he presented that to us and we're like, man, this
is really cool, right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Did you feel pressure, you know, redoing these songs? I mean,
because sometimes the originals are all you need. It's hard. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Our goal was to make them sound as closely as
we could to the originals, and which is which is
we found trickier than, you know, than we thought because
our voices have changed. The way we sing has changed,
certainly the way we sang on Invisible Man in nineteen
ninety six.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, it was recorded in ninety six, right right, yeah, sham.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
It was literally literally the first song we recorded once
we signed with Motown. We came here to New York
Factory and recorded that song and it'll be in our
first single. But yeah, so it is true. It was
trickier to kind of try and match how those songs
sounded back in the day.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Now, it was important for us to preserve the way
they originally sounded because throughout the years, we like, you know,
how many times have you been to a concert and
then you want to go hear the hits and then
because the artist sings them all the time, they start
flipping the melody and adding different runs right interpretations to
the song. People don't like that. So we, you know,
we said, let's people like these songs the way they
were for a reason. Let's try to preserve the integrity
(02:31):
of the way they sounded.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
What's fan reaction been so far?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Incredible?
Speaker 5 (02:35):
I mean, we're so lucky to have the best fans
in the entire universe. They continue to show up. I mean,
somehow they still know where we're going to be, and uh,
it's been incredible and I think, you know, our whole
you know, career has been about you know, making memories
and being the soundtrack of people's lives and to just
hear the stories and the impact that our music has
(02:56):
had on people is as truly a great thing.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
But it goes without saying it's kind of cliche, but
it literally is only possible because the fans still come
out and support and are there for cliche, that's clich.
I like that, but yeah, but I mean literally, if
they don't show up and they don't support, then then
we don't get to still do what we love to do,
which is, you know, which is sing together.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
What's the craziest thing a fan has done to get
your attention?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Morning Radio?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
No, I think it pretty much.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
You can imagine it's probably pretty much happened.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Hey, Nick, you know you've been all over our TV
screens right with the sorry about that?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
So yeah, Love is Blind also a season five winner
of the Mass Singer You were let me see your piglet.
That's right, you're a piglet. That was is Yeah, that
was my finest hour. That was that experiences as a Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It was awesome because it was it was shot during COVID,
so we weren't able to tour, weren't able to sing
and it was. Honestly, it was. It was kind of
a release to be able to perform on a stage
and sing. Definitely challenging to sing with all that up
on and overheating, and.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
And also you had to be careful walking in each day, right.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Well, you know you're in full like visors and swell
shirts and so yeah, I didn't know they're not playing around.
I didn't know who else was on on the season.
It became kind of a little bit of a guessing game,
is like, who am I competing against? It? All I
know is every time I show up on set, it
just reeked of weed. So I thought maybe maybe Snoops
on this season, but ended up being whiz Ka.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
So oh yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah, but it was. It was a lot of fun.
And my kids that that was there, that was their thrill,
you know. Yeah, they've they've never been as happy to
see or hear Dad sing as when I was a pig.
That's great, I got that.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Andrew, you know a thing or two about winning Sheason
two Winter of Dancing with the Stars. Yeah, nineteen years ago. Wow,
that's unbelievable. But more recently, you hosted Date My House.
Oh yeah, yeah, tell us about this. So I've kind
of expanded, you know, my my skill set. I do
home renovations, a lot of stuff around the house, and
so it's become this thing where, like all my friends will,
(04:54):
we'll call me up and actually on date my house.
I went to Justin's house and we tackled a couple
of projects together. So yeah, so I have this whole
thing about you know, you can drew it yourself. How
do you do? Jay? He did good?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Did you know?
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Quite frankly we needed all the help we can get.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I still on a return trip. I still look at
so got nothing but a couple of mons.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Right, Drew is a typically unreliable contract, as it hasn't
been back to finish the job.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Well again, ninety degrees is here. The album Full Circle
is out as we speak. Get it anywhere right anywhere,
anywhere where, anywhere and tell you about what's going on
tomorrow Saturday. You have a You're gonna meet some people,
I believe, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah, we have. We're actually doing an album signing at
in Barnes and Noble here in the city. So yeah,
it's exciting to you know, that's kind of a nod
back to the old days when you actually went to
went to the record store and you're like, do we
do autographs? Record store? A lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
I think everybody misses that stuff. And it's not just
our generation. I mean you see like the gen zs
and Millennials they kind of missing that experience. I mean
you have the streaming stuff, you have radio, but you
don't have those experiences like you used to. So this one,
I mean it, you know, it sold out in a
matter of minutes because people were kind of craving that.
And it's not just like I said, our our age range.
It's a lot of the younger people looking for those
(06:08):
experiences that their parents had and their grandparents had and
that we grew up with. So it's exciting for us.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, lining up outside of you know, Tyer Records at
midnight the night put you know, waiting for the new release.
I mean there was something, there was something romantic about that.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
We couldn't hear it until then. Too excited to get
it at twelve oh one and put it in the
CD play. Yeah, yeah, bring those days back.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Yeah, but just having a physical product, you know, like
the like lots of pictures, you know, it was a
lot we were a lot more invested back in the
old days, and it's cool to see things come back
to them.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Nick Drew, Jeff Justin ninety eight degrees get the new
album Full Circle. Thank You,
