Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of six point seven FM six oh eight. Thank
(00:02):
you for waking up with us, Cubby and Nina, and
for Christine producer Christen. How we feeling, ladies? Good? Was shaken?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Nice to see you about Kristin.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Oh, thank you about that.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
You were kind of here yesterday, Yes, working out of
your basement.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
We tried it.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Yeah, it didn't sound bad. You had a couple of
times where the internet popped on you.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
But yeah, I figured, you know, baby steps, right, there's
little things that are gonna need to be tweaked, but
not happening often obviously.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
But we did try it, so yeah, right.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
We did it for two years. We did before you
got the Light FM.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
You did it for two years with a group of people.
I'm doing it by myself, but the morning show was
multiple people talking in different rooms, different towns, whole thing. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Well, you know when Christine was off during the pandemic
and you and I did a show together, it was
Was it tough for you because I did it every day?
You had to sign on from home just every now
and then. It's hard to get in that rhythm.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I didn't I didn't mind. It's I mean, you're doing
it from your bedroom. Basically right. So there's that part
which is fantastic. Right, You just got to wake up
ten minutes before the show so you can brush your
teeth and then walk in and do it.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
That was the only good thing about the pandemic, the
fact that.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
For so many people, the only thing is you didn't
have to go anywhere, most of us, not all of.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Us, but you know what I mean, right, Yeah, we
were working at a home at our house and we
had FaceTime on yeah, and the lips wouldn't match up
with our audio, like we'd be talking on the radio,
but yeah, on face time, I wouldn't see the right thing. Anyway,
I'm glad those days are over. We're in the studio.
But if you have to do it from home, you know, Kristen,
you have the tools now, yes, yes we do. Speaking
of home, how's your home doing, because I know you
(01:26):
got central air conditioning put in, Nina.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
We've got central air. We're tweaking it a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
And a guy came in to put another vent or something.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
They put another vent in. My husband doesn't think it's
cool enough. Oh I think it's fine, but he's like, no,
I'm getting dressed in sweating so they came back really
nice guys. But they came back yesterday put another vent
on my side of the bed. So now there's two
in our bedroom. Okay, so hopefully I thought it was fine.
So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well, yeah, you'll need it. Today. The three h's hazy, hot,
and human today and a high of ninety. Today's Loving Day.
It's a great day. I was like, what's loving?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Loving?
Speaker 5 (01:57):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Well? The day commemorate the anniversary of the nineteen sixty
seven US Supreme Court decision Loving versus Virginia, Yes, which
struck down laws against interracial interracial marriage in America. And
that's why we celebrate loving.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
That was their last name there were the couple was
called mister and Missus Loving.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Wow. Yeah, today is a good day to be a
superhero because it is Superman Day. It's Red Rose Day,
a good day to buy roses for somebody you love.
And it's National Jerky Day, a day to celebrate everyone's
favorite road trip snack.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
It is always at the counter at the gas station.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Well, Christy just gave us an eh. I actually like
beef jerky. I don't need it, no to rubbery.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I don't know what it is. I just I'm not
a fan, yeah, but it's a popular one.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
What's your number one road trip snack? You're going on
a road trip, you have to have blank oreos. Oh
that was quick, Nina.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Oh, peanut butter M and MS.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
That's good too.
Speaker 6 (02:51):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next on light at them.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's three pretty cool things you need to.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Know with Cubby and Nina and Kristen. Three pretty cool people.
I think there were done, three really cool people. This
is really cool. Actually, a study from NASA just ten
minutes of rebounding or bouncing on a mini trampoline could
be sixty eight of sixty eight percent more effective than
(03:20):
a thirty minute run.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
That sounds fantastic.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Trampolining also puts a lot less pressure on the body
than running.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
How much, how long you have to do it?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
It says ten minutes of just bouncing on a mini
trampoline more effective than a thirty minute.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Run, much more enjoyable as well.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I know, just jump up and down. Yeah, all right,
what do you have Nina?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
If you want to be more impactful when you speak,
have people believe you more, use your hands.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
You're doing it now.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'm doing it now. Gesturing ups the impact of a
message by sixty percent. For instance, the most popular TED
talkers use twice as many hand gestures as the least liked.
All right, just point and shoot right? Not really sure?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Click or do something? Yeah? All right? What do you have?
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Kristin the most popular flavor of this summer is actually
an old favorite.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Do you guys remember creamsicles?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Of course?
Speaker 4 (04:09):
My favorite vanilla ice cream on a stick covered in
orange suber reminds me of elementary school.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yes, me too.
Speaker 7 (04:14):
Right.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
They're calling it retro okay, but it is making a comeback.
And it's not just the ice cream we're going to see.
We're going to be seeing the flavor in desserts, lattes, cocktails.
They're calling it the flavor of the summer and empty.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
After you eat that, you do ten minutes on a
mini trampoline.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
And then you talk with your hands, and then talk.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
With your hands, and then go to bed.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you expect.
Next on light at them give.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Me a new sharpie. I'll smell it all day. One
of sixty seven light FM, Cubby Nina and for Christine
producer Kristen, And that's our question we're throwing out here.
What is a smell you secretly love but just can't
explain it. We were seeing this on Reddit and I
really could talk about this for ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Here's the Sharpie's Sharpies.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
But there are so many other things. I remember the
days of white out.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, oh I love.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
The smell of white out. I'm sure it wasn't good
to sniff it, but man, do I love it?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Or the Xerox things when they came to class and they.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Were warm and they just the purple ditto, they were
a little a little damp. Great, give us a text
at four four three six three. What smell? Uh do
you oddly like? I can't really explain. Somebody on Reddit,
by the way, I want to go to Kristen wrote
the stinky water on Pirates of the Caribbean.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Yeah, that's my favorite scent, my favorite Disney smell. Oh
my goodness, Yes, what is.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
It about the water?
Speaker 3 (05:34):
I I don't know what it is. It's very hard
to explain too.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
It's almost like a like a smoky smell but also
has like a hint of like sweetness to it.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
They use they put something in there.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
It's not chlorine. Yes, it's like, oh my gosh, like bromine.
I think it is that. That's what you call it.
It's like that chemicals like a hot tub smell.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
No, it's better than that.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Okay, is it like hits a hot pain?
Speaker 7 (06:00):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Kind of.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
That's a really good smell, that ozone smell.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah, they sell candles. I have one that smells like
the water.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
They know what they're doing then, yes, like they're trying
to actually make it smell appealing.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Well, Disney pipes the sense through anywhere you go. They
know that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Like a casino.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, they want to keep you there longer, so they
keep there's no windows and they put a smell in there.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Right, Yeah, how about you, Nina.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I like the ozone smell of the pavement for sure.
I used to like the glue smell, Like you know,
kids would eat the glue right in school. I didn't
like to eat the glue, but I like the glue.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Smell Elmer's glue and rubber cement.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Rubber cement smelled really good.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I like the smell of a pipe too.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
A pipe they.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Smell smells kind of sweet and like an old folks house.
It smells.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
People are already texting in and we get this a lot.
The smell of gasoline and an old parking garage. The
smell of a brand new textbook. Oh, when I got
a new textbook back in high school or whatever, you
opened up, you sniffed it right in the middle.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Smells so good.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Someone said. The smell of a basement. Don't know why,
It's just always been a favorite smell of mine. Kind
of a musty basement. Along with the gasoline smell. Someone
likes that when it when it kind of like mixes
in with just an old garage smell. When you go
into an old garage and you also have a hint
of gasoline.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, it smells like the oil and pavement and dust.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Another text here from three four seven. I love the
smell of chlorox.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Oh, well, don't sniff that.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
You don't much keep away from that, Okay. Somebody texted
in crayons waxy smell.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Somebody said, I can't explain it, but I love the
smell of a skunk.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, good for you.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Yeah, And here's my final one, and then we'll keep
the texting going. Do you like plastic smells?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Depends on the plastic.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Like you buy a new shower curtain and it's like
it's something about the new plastic smell that I really like.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
The off gas, maybe the cancer are coming off there.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Fresh cut grass. The texts keep coming in, keep hitting
us up at four four, three six.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
Three more Covey and Christine and the great music variety
you expect next on light at them.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Well, I'll tell you what. The texting just exploding on
a very simple question. We got to talk in a
few minutes ago. What's a smell that you love that
you can't explain, you shouldn't love, but you love it.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Somebody wrote it in the smell of a just lit match.
Isn't that fantastic? That smell that is so true?
Speaker 7 (08:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Isn't it?
Speaker 1 (08:27):
That is so true?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Fire that goes with it?
Speaker 1 (08:30):
How about the smell of a subway from the sidewalk gratings?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
That one? I don't know, Like when the wind comes up,
you mean.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Like in the winter time, especially when it's really cold,
and then you hit that hot part and you smell
a little bit of the steam. Sometimes it can't So
I get with that person.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
A fan not a fan, Okay, I will say though
there is an orange train station for anybody who takes
that station. New Jersey Transit uses this cleaner that smells
like oranges. It's delicious.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Okay, I come Pine and the tunnel.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah, under the subway station where people kind of sleep
sometimes they when they clean it. It's amazing really yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Like you want to smell it, but you don't want
to do it too much.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
You're not supposed to smell it. I don't think, but
it's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I don't get this one here. Somebody texted in the
smell of fabuloso. Oh is that Kristen?
Speaker 3 (09:12):
It's a cleaning product, like that's strong.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Well, this person says they keep a cup filled with
it on their desk. Can't explain it, but it just
smells good. How about the person that texted in Noxyma noxima.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
That's such a specific smell, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Teenage yers? Yeah, also going back to your childhood plato.
I gotta tell you my kids and Naomi Miles, they'll
bust out the Plato and I smell it.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
It's a good smell. All of a sudden, it taste
kind of salty too. You can think about the taste, well,
I don't know you had it when you were like seven.
You didn't you taste it.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Maybe I'm telling my kids not to eat it though,
but yeah, old library books. The smell of fresh asphalt, Oh,
nothing like a newly paved driveway. Man, it smells good.
Fresh cut grass. We've gotten that a lot. Yeah, but
you heard a really sad story about grass.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yeah, we was one of our cool things once. The
smell of fresh cut grass is actually the signal to
other grass and other plants, like something like it's a warning,
like something's bad is happening, Like we're dying. Yeah, like
watch out because this thing is coming to mechanism lower. Yes,
it's not wrong.
Speaker 6 (10:24):
More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next on light F.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Them Cubby and Nina do Rio and for Christine producer
Kristen light FM. So it's that time again, Time for
the Great French fry Debate. I feel like this comes
up at least once a year. Specifically, who has the
best fast food fries? According to a new nationwide ranking
from Seating Masters based on more than forty thousand yelp reviews,
(10:51):
The title goes to In and Out Burger. The California
based chain score the highest points for their fresh cut fries,
which are made in store daily, so number one and
out Burger number two, Shake Shack number three, Freddy's Frozen
Custard and Steakburgers. I went to my first Freddy's last year.
I loved it. Bojangles at number four, Chick fil A
(11:13):
number five, Raising Canes number six, Zaxby's. I never heard
of Zaxby's.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
They're around the ax b y s Saxby's RB's at
number eight, Harty's number nine, Checkers Slash Rallies.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
I guess they're kind of the same. They're number ten
or Checkers and Rallies tied for ten. It says Checkers
slash Rallies.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
I think they're two different things.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah, but I guess they're tied for ten. But anything missing?
Are you noticing one particular restaurant missing?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
For sure? For fast food fries McDonald.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
McDonald's at the bottom of the list KFC, followed by
McDonald's and Burger That's that's I mean. I thought McDonalds
would be in the top five.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
And number When you get them hot, they're really really good.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
The list says best fast food fries and right in
an altburger, though scored the top because it's considered fresh
cut fries.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Do you think that's why McDonald's is.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
There's gotta be a reason, right, There's gotta be And
I like all these fries. I mean I never had,
like I said, Zaxby's. But I know, Christian, you're not
a fan of the Chick fil A fries, but I
like the waffle fries.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Yeah, I'm yeah, Chick fil A in general, I think,
I don't know why, but not a fan.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
But yeah, it's different, right, they're waffle fries.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yeah, huh, Okay. I like a sweet potato fry.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Oh oh, trying to be healthy. Every time I eat
apoopit a fry, I'm like, well, at least it's somewhat healthy.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
It feels it feels less bad. Who knows who it is,
it just feels a little less bad.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
I do want to clarify one thing. Checkers and Rallies
are the same restaurant.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh they are the same. Okay, okay, So if you
see a Rallies and then five miles down the road
you see a Checkers, you're going to the same thing.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Huh. What's the difference?
Speaker 1 (12:49):
We don't know the difference, right, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Five dollars dollars A couple of bucks difference, I don't know.
And by the way, one life hack I learned. I
don't know if this is true or not. But if
you want fresh McDonald's fries, you know, maybe you're fearful
you're gonna get some that have been under the light
for too long.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
I heard if you at the drive through, if you
ask for fries with no salt.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Oh, apparently they have to make those.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
They have to make those separately, and that will get
you fresh fries. Don't know if that's true. I think
I saw it on TikTok or something. But if it's true,
let me know.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
And then you put your own salt on because they
need salt.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, and then you put your own salt on, right,
or no salt at all if you just can't do salt.
But if you ask for no salt fries, apparently rumor
has it that they have to make a new batch
and then you get that batch and it's fresh. But
in your mind, your favorite fast food fries are hit
us up at four four, three six three.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
Cobby and Christine back in a moment. On one O
six point seven light F them on.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Is a Little Loving Mom.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
It's Cobby and Christine's Crazy First Dates light FM.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's Cubby and producer Kristen with me on this one
and we're talking to Greg. Now, Greg, you apparently went
on a crazy first date. When did this happen and
how did you meet this particular person?
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Okay, so this happened like three or four months ago.
I met her. Her name is Jenny. We worked at
the same company together. She worked in the HR department.
I work in the finance department, so we didn't see
each other much, but whenever we did see each other,
you know, like there was like this little spark. So
one day we were both working late and I got
the courage where I was like, Hey, I know this
really awesome Mexican place. It starts like the best case
(14:27):
out in town. Do you want to go with me?
She said yes, So we planned for a Saturday pickup
because I was like, hey, I'll pick you up. So
I show up her house. We've been texting. I knock
on the door, she answers, and she's like, oh crap,
I forgot that we had a date today. She completely
forgot about our date first of all, so I was like, okay,
trying whatever, Like when can you be ready? She's like,
give me like thirty minutes. An hour later, he's finally ready.
(14:49):
He's like, I'm so sorry. Conversations were really weird too.
I felt like she was really stand offish. We arrived
at the restaurant. I'm a little annoyed because I realized
that our reservations have been canceled and we can't get in.
So I go, okay, all right, well there's this like
really nice sushi place, like down the road. You want
to go there? She says, yes, We go to the
sushi place. We're here, we're hanging out. All of a sudden,
(15:11):
she's not ordering anything, and I'm like, hey, is everything okay?
And she's like, well, I don't really like sushi. I go, well,
why did you say yes to coming here? We don't
like sushi? And she gets really quiet, she's not talking,
and then the worst thing happened. Her ex boyfriend walks in,
Oh my gosh with her girlfriend, and she starts crying
at the table, And eventually, after like three or four minutes,
(15:33):
I'm like, what's going on? She's like, that's my ex boyfriend.
And then she just gets up and she just runs
out the door.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 7 (15:40):
So I like, go I pay for the bill. I
like try to call her, I try to text her.
She's not answering me. I'm kind of done for the
rest of them. I'm like, all right, whatever, I go home.
I'm like, that was super weird. I'm not going to
sit there and talk about it anymore. I show up
to work on Tuesday because that Monday was a Memorial
Day and find out that he quits and I haven't
(16:01):
heard from her since.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (16:04):
I got like really paranoid about it. But eventually, after
like a week or two, I was like, hey, like
why did she leave? And everyone's like, I don't know.
She just spent an email on Monday morning that she
said that she was effectively leaving that day and wasn't
coming back to work. Wow.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
I see, I would actually, I'd be kind of nervous,
to be honest with you, I'd google her name, not
in the news or something.
Speaker 7 (16:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
It was.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
The whole thing was weird, and I haven't heard from her. Sense. Actually,
I sent her like one or two text messages a
couple weeks ago where I was like, hey, I hope
everything's going well with you, Like s fucks that you
quit without saying goodbye and ghosted nothing nothing back.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Well, Greg, we have a surprise for you online. Nine
right now is no, I'm kidding, she's not here. That'd
be cool though, if we had that.
Speaker 7 (16:42):
Oh my god, for a minute there I got rude.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Hey, thank you for sharing your story and the best
of luck to you.
Speaker 7 (16:51):

Great, thank you. I'm such a big Harry Potter fan.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Well, hold on one second, Kristin will get all your information.
Would you like to go to the moon, guys, Nina Christen?
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Sure would you?
Speaker 1 (18:11):
I think it'd be cool.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Oh, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Christma's fine. I'll stay right here. I have a great
dad joke about the moon. Do it. I'm sure you've
heard it. If you've heard it, Please stop me. Did
you hear they're opening a new restaurant on the Moon.
I hear the food's pretty good, but there's no atmosphere.
Come on, that's cute. Oh you'll be telling that one
later today.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
You know you will more Covey and Christine and the
great music variety you expect next on, Light.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
At them all right, one minute before eight o'clock on
this Thursday, June twelfth, Nina, you're in for Christina and
you have all the headlines.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Good morning, Good morning. An Air India flight en route
to London crash this morning in the western city of Ahmenabad.
Two hundred and forty two people who are bored. Another
night of curfew sit downtown LA this morning. Is anti
ice protest spread across the country. Another is skeed for
Foley Square and Lower Manhattan tonight. The MTA is taking
new steps to remind young people at subway surfing is
(19:06):
illegal and potentially deadly, with a new campaign and tributes
from Elton John, Carol King, Paul McCartney and others are
pouring in following the death of Beach Boys founder Brian
Wilson at the age of eighty two. In sports, the
Mets beat the Nationals five to zero, Yankees defeated the
Royal six to three, and according to a study, the
order of your workout does significantly affect how much fat
you lose. People who did weight training before cardio lost
(19:29):
significantly more fat and became more physically actor throughout the
day compared to those who did cardio first.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
I have no order or workout which I really need
to do.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Okay, then, but thank.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
You for that.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Well, yeah, starting is part of it too.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
It's all about starting.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
I was on a roll there about Now I am
a roll, But about ten years ago I had a trainer.
I was just crushing it.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Did you have pecks and all these things?
Speaker 1 (19:52):
I had a routine going wow, great and then jelly roll.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Yeah. Yeah, but I it's hard with the morning show.
You know. You get up, you go home, you sit
on the couch. Yeah, it's hard.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Well, the kids have kept me a little bit more active,
which has helped. Yeah, but you're right. Before kids, I
was definitely all about the couch and I would probably
be inside today a hazy, hot and humid and a
high of ninety not bad now though. Seventy two at
Light FM.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you expect.
Next on Light at them.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
One O six point seven Light FM with Covey and
Nina del Rio. She's in for Christine and producer Kristen.
So I have two ladies in the studio. So I'm
going to run this by you because a question for
all women heading into the office right now, I'm reading
a story. Okay, who is more likely to help you
advance in your career? Men or women? And if you
said women, you'd be right. A survey found seventy three
(20:45):
percent of women who mentored colleagues helped other women. Well,
only thirty percent of men did that.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Here's what I would say to that is, I've so
rarely had a female manager in this business that it's
hard to make an educated guess. I mean, I have
had one female boss. She was fantastic, But the men
helped me bring me along only because there were so
many more.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Of them, right, right, So I got you.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Do you have any did you even work for any women?
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Kiston?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Oh yeah, at the old station I was at.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Good.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Yeah, that's an interesting take. I feel like it's been
balanced for me.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Me too, Yeah, me too. I mean, and it says
thirty percent of men. It says again, a survey found
seventy three percent of women who mentored colleagues helped other women,
only thirty percent of men dead.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
So men aren't helping the women, men are helping the
other men?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Or are men not helping anybody?
Speaker 7 (21:39):
Right?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Anybody? I was just thinking about help around the office too,
Like I get help from everybody, you know, like Kristin,
our buddy Trevor will help us with something, You'll help
me with something. Sure, as far as like.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Just every day, I wass think like managers, you know
how sometimes they kind of groom you. They want to
be like, oh, why don't you learn this system because
that would be useful for you, Or why don't you
do a little bit of this because that might help
you get further along?
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Right?
Speaker 4 (22:02):
And I think that's the that's the case here, right,
because if you think about it, it's always competition.
Speaker 7 (22:07):
Right.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
If there's that one position that somebody's going for, I'm
not going to help you because I want it, you.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Know, Or when you're training somebody, you don't want them
to know all the secrets.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
That's very true.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
I want to be needed for something
