That said, the National Security Council did say that the
message thread quote appears to be authentic. This morning, political
reports that National Security Advisor Tim Waltz could be forced
out he allegedly invited Goldberg to the group thread. As
for the President's initial reaction to.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
This, I'm not a big fan of The Atlantic. It's
to me, it's a magazine that's going out of business.
I think it's not much of a magazine.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Trump at the White House with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry
five vote three on ktrhu Us and Russian officials, wrapping
up a day of talks in Saudi Arabia lasting for
twelve hours, and according to reports, both signs that are
expected to release a statement on how those talks went
later today. Now, as for tariffs, guess what Europeans blinked first,
(03:17):
postponing any plans for tariffs on US goods. Heritage Foundation
research fellow EJ. And Tony says it's a sign that
Europe knows they can't win a trade war with US.
Speaker 9 (03:28):
Victor Davis Hansen says war is a laboratory where people
have to figure out who is weak and who is strong.
But hopefully all of these different nations realize that we
are much stronger than they are and so won't want
to go down the trade war route.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Adding that the results of Trump's tariffs so far have
been good here at home. Austin police removed several incendiary
devices from an Austin Tesla dealership. US Attorney General Pam
Bondi calls out Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett for her call

Bondie on Fox last night, it's now five to zho four.
Ice arrests continued nationwide.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Locally.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
Officials say six illegal aliens were picked up during a
raid last week, an operation that started out as a
human trafficking investigation. We're still waiting for a court to
decide on the legal battle between the Trump administration and
a federal judge upset over the deportation of more than
two hundred and fifty illegal aliens to Ol Salvador.
Speaker 11 (04:34):
The three judge panel had tough questions on both sides,
Judge Malette and Obama appointees, saying Trump's use here with
the Alien Enemies Act a typical wartime authority was quote unprecedented.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
David Spunt reporting there borders aren't. Tom Holman says, try
as they might. The left between the activists, the politicians,
and the judges won't stop them from doing their job.
Speaker 12 (04:56):
It is what it is.
Speaker 13 (04:56):
But I think DJ will win this case and we'll
keep doing what we're doing. President has made it clear
we're going to arrest illegal amilies. Were when to prioritize
public safe trust and national security threats. We're going continue
to doing it. We're gonna do it with all apologies,
especially in sanctuary cities who let these people hit the
streets and create a public safety issue.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
There is no timeline for a ruling.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
Five oh five. Now more violent crime. Here is three
teenage girls were arrested yesterday for allegedly trying to kill
their mother. Her crime turning off their Wi Fi. HPD
is still looking for the people responsible for an after
hours club shooting that wounded six people. As shootings that
these establishments continue to.
Speaker 14 (05:34):
Rise the clientele, that these clubs are often hardened criminals
and drug dealers.
Speaker 15 (05:39):
A lot of times people are in there with weapons,
do have people who have already known they have ilbrador
for the laws of the state of Texas.
Speaker 14 (05:48):
Ken Neely with the Houston Police Officers Union says social
media makes it difficult to crack down on these clubs.
Speaker 16 (05:53):
With social media and everyone has smart phones, it's so
easy for some of these establishers to pop up quickly
and the word gets out social media, and that's also
an issue.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Neely says.
Speaker 14 (06:02):
These clubs often sail completely under the radar until an
emergency breaks out and police are called. Ethan Buchanan News
Radio seven forty KTRH.

The district currently is looking at what they need to
do to address the budget deficit and just plans at
potentially closing some schools.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
The big story of the week on news radio seven
forty KTRH five.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Oh, wait is our time here in Houston's morning news.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
So this is this is kind of embarrassing, Bright because
you're you're a pilot and you travel all the time.
If you're a pilot, here's the first question. We have
any pilots listening this morning. If we do, you can
go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH, put us on the preset,
hit the microphone, and explain to me what why you
(08:17):
have to have a passport? And I understand why you'd
have to have a passport to lead the country, but
why would you have to turn the plane around to
go back and get your passport because you forgot it?
And where do where, by the way, where do pilots
normally keep their their passports? I would thinking you have
a flight bag, right, You have a bag that you
take with your clothing and all that other kind of stuff.
(08:40):
Wouldn't it be on that Wouldn't you just leave it
there all the time? I mean, are you ever traveling
without that bag?
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Anyway?
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Here's what happened. San Francisco to Shanghai flight on United Airlines.
About an hour and a half into the flight, the
pilot comes on and says there's a crew issue, an
unexpected crew related issue. He doesn't say, I forgot my passport,
(09:08):
So I'm going to have to turn this thing around
and they turn around an hour and a half into
the flight. It's not like he got up there and
they oh, dog gone it, I forgot my passport and
just came back and landed again. No, No, an hour
and a half into the flight before he realized he
didn't have his passport. And how many times do you
(09:29):
think he went through his bag looking for it or
through his clothing before he finally.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Said, damn it, I forgot my passport. So there you go.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
He turns the plane around, they fly all the way
back to San Francisco. That's another hour and a half.
So here three hours right there, and then you know,
they I'm not sure if they got a new if
they probably had to get a new crew and everything
else that goes along with it. Just amazing. This is
one of those basic things that you would expect any
pilot at least who travels all the time to be
(09:59):
prepared for to have your passport. But again, I if
you're a pilot and you're flying to another airport, as
long as you don't leave the airport property, wouldn't you
like to think that the flight crew could just stay
there as long as they're not leaving the airport, could
stay there and before getting on board another plane and
coming back to the United States. Wouldn't that be better
(10:20):
than having to delay an airplane full of people who
are traveling all the way from the West coast of
the United States to Shanghai five ten time for traffic
and weather. Together, we're checking out the drives semis here
like me, I have the stupidest problems.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
I mean, did you I was a little I lost
a little time this morning because the zipper fell down
in that little v and my bridges this morning, Get right,
I mean that has nothing to do with anything, and.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
You're in trying to fish it out and you keep
well pop.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Up and have the stupidest problems on a consistent basis.
Yesterday this was you know, it's funny. It was a
funny deal with the cows yesterday on I. But it
could have gotten really troubles. Unfortunately, everybody slowed down, everybody
was patient, and they came and.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Rounded them up.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Who knows what we'll have on the freeway today. My
point is sometimes I get a point, Terry. My point
is that you never know what happens on a Houston freeways.
It could be cows, it could be just random freeway zombies.
So let's just always expect the unexpected.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
So far, it's slinky time on most of our roads.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Here North Freeway round Spring where the cows where they're
long gone. Raye for down is now twenty three minutes.
If you're coming down from the Sticks, and I see
that's where you might find some cows. Driving through Splendora,
we look good, New Caney down, you're all fancy now
and New Cany thirty one minutes into downtown.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Piece of cake.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Here, one more spot here Old ninety coming in from
Liberty looks good. We have that roadwork between Dayton and
Crosby thirteen.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
If that's fourteen thirteen. So far, so good.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
I'm Skymike Ittcher, USA Rvresorts dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
From r KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four are whether
center after or do you off Terry is here? Or
are you to fill you in on the forecast. If
we get any fog this morning, we'll saksally gonna be
patch you. I did not see any driving in this morning.
Speaker 19 (12:07):
Yeah, I'm not seeing anything at the moment. Let me
look again, because you know, fog is kind of sneaky
an'll sometimes just pop up unexpectedly. Yeah, now, thanks are
looking pretty good. Oh, Bay City fog half mile visibility. Okay,
So if you're near the Bay or closer to the coast,
you might see some of that fog. It's not going
(12:28):
to hang around very much. You know what, guys, It
is going to be a very warm day today. It's
almost like a little bit of summertime trying to sneak
into Southeast Texas. Temperatures this afternoon mid eighties to almost
ninety and a few locations not quite as warm tomorrow.
Tomorrow is going to be mainly cloudy but dry, Loa
(12:49):
to mid eighties. We got some rain on the way
starting Thursday, A sixty percent chance of showers and storms Thursday,
ninety percent chance of more rain on Friday, and then
only a slight chance of a thundershower Saturday.
Speaker 3 (13:03):

Morning News Team all the info you need to take
on the day.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
I don't know if you all were tuned in trying
to remember what day this was. I had the guy
on the show, and I'm even trying to remember his name. Anyway,
we got into this big argument about Trump tariffsun kept
trying to tell this guy this is a negotiation tool,
this is what this guy does, and just I guess
to prove my point, here we go. They're backing down
(13:44):
on tariffsun Irish whiskey and other forms of alcohol. The
Europeans are backing down. It's all The terriffs don't happen
to until the tariffs happen. If they happen, they may
happen for a very short period of time because Trump
uses it as a very effective negotiation tool. More in
that story coming up next. First, though, traffic and weather
(14:04):
together as we check in again with Skymike.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
Let's do some south Side here, and the perfect person
for that would be south Side Larry. He's calling in

Speaker 20 (14:16):
Hey, Gym, I happy fifth birth time.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
A man, no wonder, I can't remember things.
Speaker 21 (14:20):
The Monroe Belfitt.
Speaker 22 (14:22):
He's looking a little bit cheapish, topic, pretty heavy, and
I was going to get across the gage to kick
an eye out random.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
I think they speak jive in Australia, Jimmy, but that's okay.
I think he's trying to tell us watch out for
just random whatever happens on the freeway. Got it, We
look good. Twenty three minutes and bananas took it for you, Larry.
I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (14:42):

forty k TRH. Let's check out some of our top
stories on a Tuesday. Here's Cliff, Thank you, Jimmy.
Speaker 6 (15:15):
President Trump revokes Secret Service protection for former DHS Secretary
Alejandro Majorcis. The trial for the suspected drunken driver accused
of hitting and killing a family of four in Galveston
is underway and used to rockets under chillin for Tittah
says he'll resign as the CEO of Landry's if he's
confirmed as the ambassador to Italy.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I want that job. But then what will we do here?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Jimmy, I'll do a show from Italy. That'd be great.
I'll review Italian food. I'll eat it all day long.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
More importantly, you'll drink the wine.
Speaker 6 (15:46):

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Our next update at five thirty all day long.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Local state.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
What is happening in our country? Drinking in all days?
It's actually happening. It's always something. Think you've seen it
all on.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Katie rh.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
All right, Irish whiskey, Irish whisky. That's a fine drink,
it is. And I guess there was going to be
a tariff on Irish whisky, in French champagne and a
whole bunch of other things. But it now looks like
everything's backing off on that. And you know, I don't
want to be a I told you so kind of person,
(16:25):
but I told you so that this is usually what
happens when you're negotiating with Trump. John Carney from Bright
Bar Texas along with Larry Kublow talking about tariffs, and
it's a fluid situation. We aren't really going to know
what the tariffs look like until we actually get to
the date the tariffs may happen.
Speaker 23 (16:43):
Is telling us that they are going to roll out
some tariffs on April second, but they're probably going to
have to do more work on the entire world tariffs. Look,
it was always a heavy lift to come in and
say we're going to figure out how much all the
tariffs are and what they appropriate responses will be, because
remember reciprocal terriffts. We say we'll charge you what you
(17:05):
charge us.
Speaker 24 (17:06):
But it's a lot more complicated.
Speaker 23 (17:08):
Once you get into the details. And I think that
what they're working out is we don't really we're not really.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Going to have the entire world tariffs ready, that's the
thing I think.
Speaker 25 (17:18):
I mean, you can look at one hundred and eighty
countries and every product that those hundred and eighty countries make,
that's who we trade with. On the other hand, you
look at the fifteen largest which I kind of think
that's where they're going.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
You know, Canada, Mexico, China, said.
Speaker 25 (17:34):
European Union, and that's what the Wall Street Journal was
implying this morning. I don't know that what they said
is absolutely right. I'm not sure that the internally that
they figured out exactly what they're going to do, but
I think it's, as you say, whatever it is, it's
going to be simpler and probably smaller in size than
(17:56):
people feared, you know, last month when the stock markets
are going down.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
That's right.
Speaker 23 (18:01):
Look, if if a country puts a fifteen percent terrify
on US cars but they don't make cars, we can't
respond with a tariff on their cars.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
We have to respond on a product.
Speaker 23 (18:10):
They make and care about, and so when you look
at me these things, you really have to think, Okay,
it's a lot more complicated, and I'm not sure if
the Wall Street Journal story is absolutely right. I talked
to five different people in different parts of the government,
and I got four different stories out of what's happening.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
So they're figuring it out.
Speaker 24 (18:26):
It's happening in real time.
Speaker 23 (18:28):
It was always a very quick going from you know,
on March third, and we're just going to do the
tear a twenty five percent tarif on any everybody, or
ten percent and then a twenty five percent terrify in
Canada Mexico. The ten percent terrify on everybody is really simple.
This teriff, which is better, but it's a lot more complicated,
is going to take some time.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
To work out.
Speaker 15 (18:49):
There.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
You go have some time to work out. So let's
wait and let's wait and see what happens on April
to second. You know, see if we have any tariffs
bike by April to second. That's that is less of
the week away, But who knows. Five twenty six is
our time here in Houston's Borning News. It is time
to take a look at your money. Here's Jeff Bellinger.
Speaker 12 (19:09):
And Jimmy Good Morning.
Speaker 26 (19:10):
Wall Street kicked off the trading week with a Monday rally.
The major averages had gains ranging from one point four
percent to.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Two and to quarter percent.
Speaker 26 (19:18):
Yesterday, stock market futures are just slightly lower. This morning,
we have the Dow futures down eleven points. We get
a key report that could offer clues.
Speaker 4 (19:26):

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Thank you, Jimmy.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
Good morning everyone, five thirty two on KTRH. Now our
top story.
Speaker 28 (21:27):
CBP literally has almost one hundred percent operational control of
the border, which means that our country is secure, and
that we know who's coming into this country, and that
they love our country and they want to help.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Keep it great.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
DHS Secretary Christy Noamant yesterday's Cabinet meeting talking about President
Trump closing the border down. I saw operations continue in
sanctuary cities like Boston, where two hundred and five of
the three hundred and seventy illegals recently picked up in
an operation there have been charged with serious crimes or
already convicted. Of them Democrats. Cities keep losing people to
(22:02):
re at states like Texas and will gain four congressional
seats by twenty thirty. These people are coming to cities
like Houston, Dallas, and Austin, so will those new seats
just wind up going to Democrats.
Speaker 29 (22:14):
You see economic development across the state, whether it's South Texas, Waco,
East Texas, A lot of these people are going to
be dispersed across the state.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Political consultant Bill Miller says he does not think these
new Texans will vote blue.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
We told you.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
Last week that a bill was filed in Austin to
abolish the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, but the Republican
state rep who filed it, Pat Curry, will not move forward,
seeing he just wanted to get the department to the
table to discuss proposed regulations on the deer breeding industry.
Another new piece of legislation is proposed to reduce electricity
(22:52):
and energy waste at Texas facilities. It sounds like a
new problem, but is it a big one?
Speaker 30 (22:59):
It's kind a massive problem. I think this is more
of a kind of a cleanup. It sounds kind of
good to get some some press.

And when the audit shows that the failed impeachment of
state Attorney General Ken Paxton cost taxpayers more than five

Speaker 32 (23:37):
And this really reveals the fact that it never was
about the money. It was about moderates in the Texas

opponents and the most conservative attorney general in America.

Speaker 36 (25:42):
A new survey show is more than half of Protestant

Okay, five thirty eight is our time here in Houston's
morning news. All right, story out of Austin where they're
no longer keeping it weird, they're keeping it well. They're
keeping it close to anarchy. I guess at least somebody
there's a few anarchists hanging out in Austin these days
building incendiary devices. I'm not saying that their full fledged bombs.
(27:10):
I have no idea what they looked like. I have
no idea how sophisticated they might be. But somebody built
incendiary devices and put them out a Tesla dealership. There's
a Tesla dealership in North Austin, and somebody showed up
for work and saw something that thought that doesn't look right.
(27:30):
Called the Austin PD officers arrived, they found suspicious devices.
The Austin PD Bomb Squad called in to investigate devices
determined to be incendiary. We're taking into police custody without incident.
Austin City Council member Crystal Lane released a statement of
response to the incident. Here's what she wrote. This morning,
(27:51):
APD officers responding to a call the Tesla dealership in
Northwest Austin and District six APD Bomb Squad officers determined
there and stuff in sundiary devices and took them into
police custody without incident. I am incredibly grateful to our
APD officers for their prompt response to this incident in
quick resolution, ensuring that no one was hurt. I strongly
(28:11):
condemn any action that puts the people of Boston in danger.
Nothing about Tesla, no matter the motivation, violence of any
kind is unacceptable. Am I reading that in between the
lines too much? On this one? No matter the motivation,
violence of any kind is unacceptable. In other words, I
(28:32):
understand why you're upset, I understand why you might target
how Tesla dealership, but you still shouldn't do that. That's
not very strong. I'm sorry. She went on to say,
I'm deeply relieved that no one was hurt during this incident,
and am in discussion with APD Chief Lisa Davis about
how to ensure our residence protection in the case of
(28:53):
future violent escalations. The Attorney General Ken Paxson wrote on
X the wave of domestic terrorism targeted at Tesla and
the radical liberals encouraging these politically motivated attacks are sick
and twisted. I stand ready to assist in any way
to bring these perpetrators to justice. Yeah, let's turn them

It turns out after our clubs are a very dangerous
place to be. No, my days of clubbing are long
long gone, but it has become a real problem for
the Houston Police Department. We'll talk with ken Neely Houston
Police Officers Union about after Our clubs and some of
the violence that occurs with them and trying to deal
(32:14):
with them and why they've become so popular. That's coming

Speaker 3 (33:51):
I don't know how long it's been since our next
guest has been clubbing, but I'm guessing it's been a while.
Matter of fact, I think I might be old enough
to qualify as never having been clubbing per se. Ken
Neely joins US Houston Police Officers Union to talk about
after hours clubs and the problems they cause. We have
one dad, six injured and two different after hours club
shooting scan. What's the attraction with these after hour clubs?
Speaker 12 (34:15):
Well, good morning, and thank you for having me.
Speaker 38 (34:18):
You know, I think they are the variety of things
that go with that, and kind of, like you said,
that clubbing thing, I'm kind of like you as it's
not something I'm Even when I was a younger person,
I really didn't club too much. I think a lot
of times those after hour clubs right now, the appeal is,
you know, normally a lot of businesses and a lot
of clubs in Texas close at two o'clock.
Speaker 12 (34:39):
These after our clubs, sometimes people go to.
Speaker 39 (34:42):
Those after they want to keep having parties and continue
to having fun. Sometimes at these after hours clubs, you
got a lot of illegal activity that takes place. A
lot of clubs in the Houston area usually have some
type of law enforcement that they're working at them. These
after our clubs, they're typically not any law enforcement working
(35:04):
there as far as security, So you have sometimes there
are some gambling, some narcotics transactions going on, some prostitution
activity has taking place inside of these clubs because again
there's no one really there for the law enforcement side
to type regulate it. And you know, there's lots in
(35:26):
the fair, like I said, in the fair's activity that
goes on inside of these clubs.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
So where you've got crime, where you've got crime, you'll
have criminals. And where you have criminals, you have problems absolutely.
Speaker 39 (35:36):
And unfortunately, sometimes even some of the people that may
be at these after ours clubs, they're not there to
have be involved in any type of criminal activity. Sometimes
people just want to continue, as they say, having a
good time. Sometimes the people that are just there, sometimes
they're innocent victims also because they are have no interest
(35:57):
of doing anything illegal. But sometimes things happen and they're
just involved. The shootings may happen, and literally they may
be those people that.
Speaker 12 (36:06):
Are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Uh,
and they may be.
Speaker 39 (36:09):
Become a victims of some of those people who are
there for the other for the wrong reasons.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Ye, ken, After our clubs are illegal? Are they not
here in Texas? You can't you cannot that you can't
operate it?
Speaker 39 (36:20):
After our club that that is correct as such an
illegal operation. But unfortunately, with the age of social media
and you know, the pop up clubs, and unfortunately they
just can pop up anywhere and so quickly, sometimes.
Speaker 12 (36:38):
Right on the eyes of law enforcement. We have no ideals.
Speaker 39 (36:40):
Just unfortunately there are so many places and unfortunately we
can't be every place at every time.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
So it sounds like you're finding a losing battle against this.
What what can realistically, what can you do to fight this?
If you if you've got a pop up club that
somebody just advertised on social media and people just show
up there as you say you've got, you don't have
the manpower to be everywhere. You just have to respond
to when you get phone calls like this. So it
kind of it's kind of the dog chasing his tail
trying to catch up to this, isn't it?
Speaker 39 (37:08):
Absolutely it is. But we've been pretty fortunate over the years.
Sometimes are just citizens. They see the activity in their
neighborhoods in their area. You see a lot of vehicles,
a lot of foot traffic in areas that not. They're
not a customed to seeing people in their neighborhoods in
their area. As our citizens been so phenomenal to us
(37:30):
that they've just been called this. It's an eyesore for
them as well. That's not they won their area. So also,
it's been very fortunate about calling the Houston Police Department
and the other local law enforcement agencies in the area
to help quell this problem in the Houston City in
the area.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Yeah, do the judges take it seriously when when somebody
is charged with up earning in their legal club?
Speaker 40 (37:50):
What do they do? Do they do they get tough
on them or not? Yes, sir, We've been very fortunate.
We have a great collaboration in local law enforce. Mayor
Whitman when he was elected last year, that was something
he's stressed. He understood the importance of all the law
enforcement area agenus is in the area working together to
(38:12):
combat issues like this. Recently, last year we had a
new chief of police, no ideas he's been very instrumental
and influential and getting law enforcement together to combat these problems.
So the elected judges have been taking a strong stance
in this and we're trying to make as much of
the impact as possibly we possibly.
Speaker 12 (38:34):
Can on the law enforcement side.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
All right, well, good luck with us, sir, appreciate your

And remember this.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
Jeffrey Goldberg reported that President Trump once called World War

be a lie. National Security advisor Michael Waltz reportedly could
be forced out over all of this. He allegedly invited
Goldberg to the thread the president, well, he doesn't seem

as social media plays a role, with police unable to
detect these clubs until it's too late.

years ago today, KTRH first went on the air. This
this song dates back to nineteen thirty. Now, I don't
know if if the song was out before the station
went on the air. If it was, then this was
(46:25):
probably one of the first songs they played because it
was one of the biggest hits of the nineteen thirties.
And it's the oldest one I could find in the
nineteen thirties that was a big hit. Imagine that, You know,
how music's changed, how the world has changed, how Houston
has changed itself since nineteen thirty. Nineteen thirty, Houston was
(46:47):
the most populous city in Texas. Our population was you
ready for this one? Two hundred ninety two thousand, three
hundred and fifty two. That's a pretty big city back
in nineteen thirty. Not as big as Detroit or New
York or Chicago or those cities, but the big city
(47:08):
and the biggest city in Texas. And now we have
about six point six million people in the Houston metro
area they call Houston home. That's pretty amazing, and you
think about how the country has changed since the nineteen thirties.
In nineteen thirty, we're in the midst of the Great Depression.
Although Houston was doing pretty well in nineteen thirty because
of the oil industry and because of the continued phenomenal
(47:31):
growth that we had here in Houston, the city was
doing fine. The rest of Texas not quite so well,
especially the Panhandle of Texas. The nineteen thirties saw, in
addition to the Great Depression, saw a major drought that
devastated the southern plains and farms. And that was the
dust Bowl era, where farms were almost inhabitable because of
(47:56):
major dust storms that continued all the time, and people
were moving to California and other places because they just
couldn't farm anymore. Yep, nineteen thirty, this date KTRH was born.
We're ninety five years old today. Hey, by the way,
if you want to wish us a happy birthday, or
you know, make any comment about how how Houston is
(48:16):
today compared to when KTRH first went on the air,
feel free to use the iHeartRadio app KTRH. Put us
on your preset. Yeah, that technology wasn't around in nineteen thirty.
That'll take you to us. Click on the microphone, first name,
where you're calling from, and whatever you'd like to say
about our ninety fifth birthday today. Traffic and weather together
finds my joint pain because we're ninety five's got out busy.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Memory, don't remember why I walked into the room. You
know I need the men's tea clinic.
Speaker 5 (48:45):
Let's go to the North sam eastbound before the Veterans
Toll plaza. That wreck has US one two three lanes
here block that one may scooch us that normally we'd
have enough lineage. That'll cost some suckons back from two
forty nine going that way. Looking at your East tex
at Townsend, David Kingwood, talk to me nineteen sixty East Texas.
Speaker 45 (49:05):
That wreck on sixty nine south.
Speaker 23 (49:08):
Two more fire engines just showing up.
Speaker 46 (49:11):
Traffic is backed up all.
Speaker 4 (49:12):
The way to Hounson.
Speaker 5 (49:14):
We're going to be backed up plumb from Porter pretty quickly.
So if the Hardy's an option for you, even ninety
nine Grand Parkway to ninety if you could do that
instead or forty five North forty five is not that bad.
They've cleared the wreck at tid with a long time ago.
Not much of a back order slip. We look good
from West Road, and I've got something skipping up on
the Golf freeway. Have we had our normal rec at
(49:35):
park Place? Sterey notes not there yet, all right, just
a lot of you packing up right around waffle House
Airport on the inbound. Let's do some ship channel bridges
at six twenty and Skymike here in the USA Rvresorts
dot Com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
From r KTRH top tacks offenders twenty four hour weathers
in a time to check in with Terry Smith. No
dust bowl like it was in nineteen thirties around here.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Oh my goodness. No, no u win but no dust.
Speaker 19 (50:01):
Yeah, a little bit of wind and our weather is
a little bit dry. But the key there is it's
just a little bit dry. That was like a very
prolonged intense dry spell in the central part of the country. Hey,
we got some rain on the way though later in
the week, not today, not tomorrow. Today will turn out
sunny most of us and quite warm actually for even
(50:23):
late March mid eighties to around ninety this afternoon. Tomorrow,
We've got more clouds, so it's not going to be
as warm lo to mid eighties tomorrow. There is a
sixty percent chance of showers and storms Thursday, and ninety
percent chances of more rain.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Friday.
Speaker 19 (50:37):
Looks like a good soaking too. Most of us an
inch or two of rain, maybe more in a few spots.
Temperatures are going to ease up back to March to
mid seventies Thursday and Friday, and then Saturday. Only a
twenty percent chance you'll get wet.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
Right now, sixty one in your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Well, there's a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
Who believe that, But in twenty thirty we might get
four more chances to get it right, because Texas is
projected to gain four additional congressional seats in twenty thirty.
Is the metro areas continue to grow? Bill Miller joins
US political consultant. What kind of difference could having four
more congressmen make for Texas?
Speaker 41 (51:19):
What do you think, Bill, Wow, If you're adding to
the sort of the group of people that represent you
in Washington, and there's a set number that represent the country,
the more that you have, the more power you will accumulate,
the more power.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
You can exercise.
Speaker 29 (51:36):
I think Texas is having an economic moment, it's now
having a political moment, and four more additional congressional seats
make a kid's difference overall, long term and short term.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Yeah, this is a little bit of inside baseball because
it's radio related here on our ninety fifth birthday KTRH.
But I noted yesterday we have ratings that come out
on a monthly basis, and the markets are all rated
based on population. And for the longest time, Houston was
ranked as the fifth largest market radio market, and Houston
(52:11):
was sixth, then Dallas was fifth, and yesterday the numbers
came out and Dallas moved up to fourth, in San
Francisco moved down to fifth. That's kind of a great
illustration of where the population has been and where it's
going to.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
I think you're exactly right. And by the way, happy birthday. Yeah.
Speaker 29 (52:28):
If you if you add people and you add you know,
political representation, you simply add power. And power is what
it's always about in Washington or Austin or anywhere you
find you know, elected to representative. So yeah, it's a
it's a wonderful day. It's a wonderful opportunity. Let me
(52:48):
say that because I haven't got to see yet and
might think that be more. But yeah, I think poor
is the minimum, and I think poor is great. And
I think Texas will you know, it's doing great and
it'll do even better because of that.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Will they come from the major population areas Bill Miller,
in other words, Houston and Dallas the two most pable ones,
or will they be spread across the state?
Speaker 29 (53:06):
Do you think, well, redistricting has you know, I mean
if the term gerrymander has you know, been applied to redistricting,
and so they could come from a lot of different places.
The growth in Texas is not just in the metropolitan areas.
If you look at South Texas, it's exploding, even areas
like Waco and places like that. Yeah, more likely it's
(53:28):
going to come in the metro areas. But those metro areas,
and to look at Central Texas in Austin, that's not Austin,
that's not Round Rock. You know, that's all the way
to San Antonio. Now, so you know you're talking about
metro areas an enormous size. So I would define that
don't let people be confused that it's a county or
(53:49):
several counties.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
It's a large squat of plant. When we say metro.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Areas these days, yeah, I mean the Houston metro area
includes Galveston, for example. So we're going all the way
all the way down to the coast, and you know,
quite quite aways north as well in east and west
along with it. So metro areas or as you say,
big areas. But certainly where where the redistricting happens is
going to be the key. Right, You've got you have
four more congressional seats, but it it's all about where
(54:15):
they draw the lines as far as who those representatives
are likely to be. Republicans are Democrats.
Speaker 29 (54:21):
You're exactly right. You know, the party in power draw
us the lines. It's as simple as that. They tell
you where you're going to be and where who you're
going to represent. That's always been the case, and that's
going to be unchanged in the future. So Republicans want
to benefit, they need to keep the power of Democrats
wanted diminish the power that Republicans have and raw it
(54:41):
a little differently. And that's the way the games played.
So you know, continuing to win elections at the legislative
level in Austin, and I mean in Texas is key
to controlling and redistricting.
Speaker 3 (54:53):
Do you see anything, I mean, you do politics for
living Bill Miller. Do you see anything that's likely to
really change the balance of power here in Texas between
Democrats and Republicans.
Speaker 29 (55:03):
You know, the argument has been made that, you know,
the Texas will trim blue, and you know it, and
there was some evidence on a couple of cycles that
might be happening that I have concluded at least for
the foreseeable future.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
You know, Texas is red. It will always be red.
Speaker 29 (55:22):
And it's red because and people look at the metro areas,
but Texas is so large, and even people who live
here don't realize how large it is. And the vast
areas that are non urban are very very Republican.
Speaker 4 (55:36):
And I don't see any of that changing.
Speaker 29 (55:38):
And so a lot of the new people coming in
wherever they may reside, could change that slightly. But the
truth is this is a red state. It's shown its
colors and it's going to continue to show those colors.
It's at least far to the future, in my opinion.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
Nice their good to talk to you is always thank
you Bill Milder than thank you you bet Bill Miller,
political consultant. It is six twenty six. Time to take
a look at your money. Jeff Bellinger is here and
Jimmy good morning.
Speaker 26 (56:06):
The bankruptcy of twenty three in Me is raising concerns
about individual privacy. The genetic testing company has DNA profiles
on millions of people. Now the twenty three in Me
has put itself up for sale. That information will go
to the highest bidder. Authorities say they are keeping track
of the bankruptcy to be sure private records are protected.
(56:27):
Stock market futures have turned around. They're all pointing just
slightly higher at the moment. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business
on News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 4 (56:39):
There are no Houston's News.
Speaker 27 (56:41):
Why there are traffic plus breaking news twenty four to seven.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
This is News Radio seven forty.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
KTRH five everywhere more of what's happening now from the
John Moris Services Studios. Six thirty is our time here
in Houston's Warning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top
stories this app are the Trump cabinet likes what they've
accomplished in just eight weeks. Texas likely to pick up
(57:08):
another four congressional seats by the year twenty thirty and
coming up at six thirty eight. The Small Business Administration
gave loans out to kids under the age of eleven.
Details in the minutes ahead. You're in Houston's Morning News. Wow,
how far ahead we are? Jimmy, I'll tell you what,
Sky Mike. We're right on time. Let's do it all.
Speaker 4 (57:26):
Right, East Texas Freeway. I got young Albert from Kingwood Mornings.
Speaker 43 (57:30):
Mike inbound is a parking lot thirteen fourteen.
Speaker 30 (57:34):
Uh, don't know what's going.
Speaker 5 (57:35):
On, Oh Albert, I'd like to welcome you to the broadcast.
You know we need clock radios. Keep the free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (57:41):
Fun.
Speaker 5 (57:42):
We've been talking about that wreck at nineteen sixty southbound.
It's clear, but we're plumb backed up. From Porter Scott
from Wallasville.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
Dude, Good morning, Sky Mike went on forty six southbound
just after Palmer Highway, Texas City.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
A couple of big griggs kind of got a scoon,
but it's all good.
Speaker 37 (57:58):
Cafter coming back up all right?
Speaker 5 (57:59):
That southbound Extra points for Burber time in the USA.

Rvresorts dot Com Traffic Center from our KTRH Generator Supercenter,

a few spots with some patche fog this morning, becoming
sunny I temperature right about ninety. We'll get to the
complete forecast with Terry Smith at the Weather Channel in
nine minutes. Right now, temperature is sixty one at your
official severe weather station. News Radio seven forty KTRH. It's
(58:27):
time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 6 (58:29):
Thank you, Jimmy six thirty one on KTRH. Our top
story this hour. The mainstream media won't talk about it,
but President Trump has succeeded in reducing the price of
eggs just weeks after his multi faceted plan was put
into place.
Speaker 19 (58:44):
Since that time, the price of eggs, the wholesale price
of eggs has.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
Come down fifty three percent.
Speaker 7 (58:50):
So we're gonna keep working on it.
Speaker 6 (58:52):
Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins at yesterday's Cabinet meeting at prices
skyrocketed some two hundred and thirty seven percent under Joe Biden.
The Texas population continues to grow as people escape Democrat regulation.
As a result, we will be getting four new congressional
seats in five years.
Speaker 14 (59:13):
More importantly, those four seats are coming from blue states.
Speaker 29 (59:16):
It's significant by any metrics if we're picking up something,
if that someone.
Speaker 12 (59:20):
Else has lost.
Speaker 29 (59:21):
It absolutely helps Texas, but it also helps Republicans.
Speaker 14 (59:25):
Political consultant Bill Miller says, don't expect the Democrats to
get these seats just because of where those voters are
coming from.
Speaker 29 (59:30):
They've witnessed firsthand the failings of what some of the policies.
Speaker 12 (59:34):
Are in those urban areas.
Speaker 29 (59:35):
The chances of them being TLID blue hard blue, it's unlikely.
Speaker 4 (59:39):
Miller says.
Speaker 14 (59:39):
In Congress, it's all about the numbers, and four new
GOP seats will be a game changer. Ethan Buchanan News
Radio seven forty KRH.
Speaker 6 (59:46):
Six point thirty two a proposed Senate bill in Austin
would doze some of the electricity and energy waste in
state facilities. Brad Johnson with The Texan says, it might
not do much for your bill, but it should help
Texans and others areas.
Speaker 30 (01:00:00):
It does have a very real impact. And when the
grid is height, every megawat counts, and so every megawat
they can save by doing this will help ensure a
more stable.
Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
Grid that comes as the population continues to grow. The
state is a step closer to banning THHC as the
House takes up its version of a Senate bill to
ban the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. The Senate passed its
version last week, and we now know that the House
(01:00:31):
of Representatives spent at least five million bucks on the
failed Ken Paxton impeachment.
Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
That's why everybody was so upset.
Speaker 32 (01:00:38):
It's why so many voters sent many of those Republicans
that voted for it home and replace them with conservative fighters.
Speaker 6 (01:00:46):
Political consultant Luke Messias says, it also exposes the fact
that this was never about money. It was always just
about removing a political opponent. Six point thirty three. The
President continues to defend dose in its work, even in
the face of the attacks on Tesla by anti Elon
Musk radicals.
Speaker 47 (01:01:04):
They had on the government roles people that don't even exist.
But of the ones that did exist, as you know,
many didn't come to work, many had no intention of
coming to work, many were paid and working someplace else,
And there were lots.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Of band scenarios.
Speaker 6 (01:01:18):
By the way, Elon warre had it the White House
yesterday saying quote Trump was right about everything. De walking
the military is underway as Defense Secretary Pete heggsith fires
the top lawyers for the Army and Air Force. Former
Army captain and lawyer Sean Timmand says this brings in
new leadership more aligned with Trump policies, and these jags
(01:01:40):
are an important step.
Speaker 35 (01:01:41):
The focus should beyond killing the animates not worried about genderstivity.
They had a huge difference because the focus previously was
on diversity training, on general ideology, on governant talking clients,
and not really conducive to affective warfighting.
Speaker 6 (01:01:54):
Exeth's deny the claim that he texted war plans over
a group chat on the platform called Signal. We'll have
more on that at seven o'clock six point thirty four
on Wall Street. Overnight trading is flat now across the board,
after the Dow picked up more than six hundred points yesterday.
Texas is attracting the NASDAC and New York Stock Exchange,
(01:02:14):
both of which now say they are planning to open
offices in Dallas.
Speaker 20 (01:02:20):
The fact that people are looking open exchanges in Texas's
signal that Texas financing has sort of gone to a
certain level of maturity.
Speaker 6 (01:02:29):
University of Houston Economics professor doctor Stephen Craig says, these
financial giants are attracted to Texas because of our pro
business policy. Hyundai has announced a twenty billion dollar investment
in the US, including plans to build a factory and
increase production in the state of Louisiana.
Speaker 44 (01:02:47):
We've got two big LNG facilities that are under construction.
Meta announced its largest AI facility to be built in
North Louisiana, and so again, Louisiana and America open for
business glob because of President.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):

Speaker 6 (01:03:03):
By the way, the cost of owning a pet continues
to rise. Dog owners face annual expenses ranging from fourteen
hundred dollars to over five thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
According to the latest research.
Speaker 48 (01:03:15):
When I track all of these different expenses from grooming, treats, toys, food.
Speaker 30 (01:03:21):
Supplies, and accessories.
Speaker 48 (01:03:22):
That bills all of it equates to an average of
eight dollars and thirteen cents per day.
Speaker 6 (01:03:30):
Pet expert Doug Keeling says lifetime care for some dogs
and cats can reach more than thirty two thousand dollars
six point thirty six on KTRH. Americans may be regaining
their faith after years of declining church attendance. More than
half of US churches were poort growing their congregation in
the last two years. Dave Welch with the Texas Pastor
(01:03:51):
Council says this is not surprising.
Speaker 37 (01:03:53):
Church was born literally two thousand years ago in persecution,
and some of its strongest growth over those centuries has
been in times over actual great persecution. So ultimately the
message hasn't changed their standing firmly on historic truth.

as Christian has started to rise after falling for decades.

Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Sex thirty eight is their time here in Houston's Boy news. Yeah,
do you ever have a lemonade stand as a kid?
I think I think I probably participated in that one time.
I mean, when you're eleven, you know, ten or eleven
years old, there's a limited amount of ways you can
you can make money. You know, when I was a kid, maybe,
you know, back way back when I was a kid,
maybe you'd have a paper route something like that. Of course,
(01:05:05):
you know every buys newspapers anymore, so I doubt very
much if there's any kids making money doing paper routes.
You know, you could mow lawns, you could, you know,
set up a lemonade stand or do something like that.
But none of the things we did as ten or
eleven year old kids ever required a loan from the
Small Business Administration.
Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
In fact, I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
Pretty sure if you're eleven years old or even younger,
you can't really qualify to get a loan because you
have no credit rating and you have well you're not
an adult. You can't sign a contract. You're not eighteen
years of age, for goodness sakes, So how is it
(01:05:48):
the Small Business Administration spent millions of dollars giving loans
to kids eleven years of age and younger. Here's Elon
Musk with some follow up to the store.
Speaker 33 (01:06:01):
A case of forward was with the Small Business Administration
where they were handing out loans three hundor and thirty
million dollars worth of loans to people on page to eleven.
I think the youngest Kelly was a nine month year
old who got one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 15 (01:06:13):
Love.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
That's a very precocious baby we're talking about here.
Speaker 46 (01:06:17):
Yeah, I mean just giving away money, you know, as
if it's just like a piece of paper or a
pencil or some sort of widget to give away. I mean,
what could possibly go wrong here? I mean, on the
one hand, and Stag's is darkly hilarious, isn't it. I
mean that this is the kind of thing that that's
been going on for god knows how long. I mean,
who knows when these programs even started? Was it Joe Biden?
(01:06:37):
Wasn't Barack Obama was? Was it sometime even further in
the past. There, on the other hand, and really does
underscore just how utterly inane and frankly perverse the dramatic
massive left wing opposition to Elon Musk is. I mean,
the people that are opposing the Trump administration were more
generally Gabrielle, whether it's things like this, whether it's the
deportation of pro Hamas and miscreants like Mahaman called, I mean,
(01:07:01):
what is that the other standing for? I mean, are
you guys actually making an affirmative positive stand to give
away so called loans to the tune of three hundred
thirty million dollars to people that are as young as
nine months? Are you actually taking an affirmative stand to
actually keep Hamas supporters in the United States? I mean,
what does it say about the modern left that they
are forced to take these stances all in the purported
(01:07:21):
name of just opposing whatever it is the Trump administration
has to do, because that's basically all they stand for
at this point. They basically stand for whatever Trump does,
by extension, whatever Ela must does, we necessarily bite into
that very fact, we will oppose it there. But that's
left them defending some very, very very indefensible things.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
I'm afraid that is. In this week's Senior editor at Large,
Josh Hammer, three hundred and thirty million dollars from the
Small Business Administration the kids under the age eleven, including
one hundred thousand dollars loan to a nine month old. Yeah,
do you think there's a little fraud and abuse going
on with the SBA, And that's probably one of the
better run government agencies. Six forty time for traffic and
(01:07:57):
weather together. As we check in again with sky Mike, cleared.
Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
The east text inbound at nineteen sixty that's wreck is

Speaker 5 (01:08:19):
West Park, the ramp that gets onto the Southwest, that's
pretty scooched up to Katie Freeway. A lot of breaks
from Graham Parkway into Fry Road.
Speaker 4 (01:08:26):
It's not bad for the Katie. We're not bumping into
each other.
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
You'll hit the curve right at Steudamont and slow down

Speaker 35 (01:08:38):
Sky Mike, Dude, you have a pedestrian walking in the

Everybody be careful.

Speaker 19 (01:09:37):
Oh yeah, what a great day to celebrate the birthday.
Air quality is a little uh, not as good as
it it should be. But aside from that, we have
plenty of sunshine, and it's gonna be warm, like really warm,
like everybody's running the ac kind of warm. I suspect
mid eighties to near ninety today. Tomorrow we've got clouds.
(01:09:59):
It's a dry, dank as warm load of mid eighties tomorrow.
Then the rain arrives and along with it some cooler weather.
Thursday is sixty percent chance of showers and storms Friday
and ninety percent chants of more thunderstorms. Temperatures Thursday and
Friday low to mid seventies, not much rain, only a
twenty percent chance of getting went on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
We get steers, we get zombies, which we have now
on the North Freeway.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):

Yeah, it's like a scene out of a Western yesday
and I forty five the North Freeway six fifty three
at a time here in Houston's forty news steers on
the loose yep, they got out and they blocked traffic
at I forty five, and it took a long time
to apprehend said steers. Here's the report from our television
partner KPRC too.
Speaker 50 (01:13:17):
The rodeo officially ended Sunday, but these roping steers apparently
didn't want the fun to end just yet.
Speaker 24 (01:13:23):
Fortunately everyone is okay.
Speaker 50 (01:13:24):
All the seers are now accounted for, but it's left
many who have seen this saying only in Texas. In
standstill traffic with his arms wide, this driver jumped out
of his SUV and tried to stop two roping steers
running down the main lanes of I forty five northbound.
They got loose around eleven thirty Monday morning on their
way back to Fannin County from the Houston Livestock Show
(01:13:46):
in rodeo, jumping barriers and shutting down the north freeway
as law enforcement ran after them.
Speaker 18 (01:13:52):
We live in Texas, so you know it's nothing new.
Speaker 24 (01:13:54):
At least More works at a nearby business and I.
Speaker 18 (01:13:57):
Was like, give me a horse, I'll help out.
Speaker 24 (01:13:58):
And watched as two of the loose steer ran onto
their property.
Speaker 18 (01:14:02):
They were just kind of running around in the parking
lot ate some grass back there.
Speaker 50 (01:14:05):
A latch came loose on the trailer door, carrying thirty
one steers. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the driver
kept control of twenty five of them, but the rest
had to be corralled by law enforcement.
Speaker 34 (01:14:16):
These particular cows are made for open They're meant to
come out of a shoot and take.
Speaker 12 (01:14:20):
Off run in.
Speaker 50 (01:14:21):
Deputies tried to keep up, wanting to keep an eye
on them at all times.
Speaker 24 (01:14:24):
Some ended up in a wooded area.
Speaker 50 (01:14:26):
A DPS chopper kept watch overhead, and crews on the
ground worked to find them. Cell Phone video captured a
deputy guiding one steer through a median and back to
a trailer. Law enforcement suggests letting them do the hard work.
Speaker 8 (01:14:40):
You start hoffing your horn, you start chasing on, waving
your hands.
Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
All you do is put pressure on them, and they
want to watch.
Speaker 50 (01:14:48):
Four hours after breaking loose, we captured all of the
steers being loaded back onto the trailer they came in.
Speaker 18 (01:14:54):
We're just kind of enjoying the show, fortunately, but you know,
hope all the cows are okay.
Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
They're Okay, they're okay.

That said, the National Security Council did say the message

Security Advisor Michael Waltz could be forced out over this.
Apparently he was the one who invited Goldberg to the
group chat to begin with.
Speaker 4 (01:22:20):
Ask for what the President thinks about this.
Speaker 8 (01:22:22):
I'm not a big fan of the Atlantic. To me,
it's a magazine that's going out of business. I think
it's not much of a magazine.
Speaker 6 (01:22:28):
Trump at the White House yesterday seven oh three. Now
American and Russian officials wrapping up a day of talks
in Saudi Arabia that lasted for about twelve hours. Reports
say both sides are expected to release a joint statement
today about how those talks actually went. As for Trump's tariffs,
the Europeans blink first, postponing any plans for tariffs on
(01:22:51):
American goods. Otitch Foundation economist e j Atoni says it's
a sign that Europe knows they can't win a trade

Speaker 9 (01:23:00):
Davis Hansen says war is a laboratory where people have
to figure out who is weak and who is strong.
But hopefully all of these different nations realize that we
are much stronger than they are and so won't want
to go down the trade war route.
Speaker 6 (01:23:13):
He says, the results of Trump's tariffs so far have
been good. Here at home, Auston police removed several incendiary
devices from a Tesla dealership. US Attorney General Pam Bondi
has called out Texas Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for her
call for Elon Musk to be quote taken down.
Speaker 10 (01:23:32):
She needs to unequivocally denounce the violence. She must apologize immediately.
Speaker 6 (01:23:39):
Bondi on Fox. More ice arrests here at home. Officials
say six illegal aliens were picked up during a raid
last week. The operation originated as a human trafficking investigation. Meantime,
we are still waiting for a court to decide on
the legal dispute between the White House and a federal
judge who's throwing a tantruma over Trump deporting more than
(01:24:01):
two hundred and fifty illegal aliens to l Salvador.
Speaker 11 (01:24:04):
The three judge panel had tough questions on both sides,
Judge Mallett and Obama appointees saying Trump's use here with

We think we did the right thing. We follow the
Amens Enemies Act. The President simply invoked the authorities he

we did.
Speaker 6 (01:24:45):
Homan on Fox and Friends this morning. It's now seven
oh five more violent crime as three teenage girls aren't
arrested for allegedly trying to kill their own mother, whose
only crime was turning off their Wi Fi. HPD still
looking for the people responsible for an after hours club
shooting over the weekend that wounded six people. As shootings
(01:25:07):
at these kind of clubs are rising.
Speaker 14 (01:25:09):
The clientele at these clubs are often hardened criminals and
drug dealers.
Speaker 15 (01:25:12):
A lot of times people are in there with weapons.
Do have people who have already known they have ilbragord

Speaker 14 (01:25:21):
Ken Neely with the Houston Police Officers Union says social
media makes it difficult to crack down on these clubs.
Speaker 16 (01:25:26):
With social media and everyone has smart phones, so it's
so easy for somebody's established us to pop up quickly
and the word gets out via social media, and that's
also an issue.
Speaker 4 (01:25:35):
Neely says.
Speaker 14 (01:25:35):
These clubs often sail completely under the radar until an

free speech. Already facing a two hundred and fifty million
dollar deficit, HID is operating some fifty one schools at
under fifty percent capacity. Joseph Trimmer with Texas Scorecard says
something has to give.
Speaker 17 (01:26:21):
The district currently is looking at what they need to
do to address the budget deficit, and there's plans at
potentially closing some schools.
Speaker 6 (01:26:32):
And also consolidating some school seven oh seven. Well, you
thought the rodeo was over right, Well, traffic on I

steers broke loose from a trailer near the Harris Montgomery
county line.
Speaker 18 (01:26:48):
We live in Texas, so you know it's nothing new,

World Events, National Headlines, Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett.
Speaker 15 (01:27:16):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
One thing I never understood about this song is he
upset because the girl is rude, but he's gonna marry
her anyway. Or he is he upset because somebody has
said had some bad things to say about his girl,
but he's gonna go ahead and marry her anyway. I'm
unclear on that. What I am clear is that this
Pew research piece, taking our temperature on rudeness in general,
(01:27:37):
thinks that many of us believe. In fact, forty seven
percent of US adults say the way people behave in
public since the COVID pandemic is ruder than what it
was before COVID nineteen includes twenty percent who say behavior
today is a lot ruder. Forty four percent of adults
say public behavior is about the same, while only nine
(01:28:00):
percent say people are behaving a lot or a little
more politely in public. So a sizeable share of us
believe that people are more rude and that we see
rude behavior on almost a daily basis. I guess it
depends on how you define what rudeness is. Rudeness can
(01:28:21):
come in a whole variety of different ways. I mean,
can be as simple as somebody saying something to you
that's really inappropriate that you would think that common sense
would tell them that maybe they should keep that to themselves,
even if that's what they think.
Speaker 4 (01:28:34):
But I think it's got as much to do.
Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
Maybe it's increased since COVID, but I think it's got
more to do, honestly, when you get right down to it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
With social media.
Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
And taking people away from face to face interaction during
COVID nineteen, I'm sure. I'm sure made the problem even worse.
But we behave differently towards each other on social media
and through txting in social media platforms than we do
when we're in front of somebody. When you're in front
of somebody, you have a tendency to be a little
(01:29:05):
bit more polite. You have a tendency to choose your
words a little bit more carefully. You try not to
hurt other people's feelings, and you try not to be rude,
at least most of the time. But people who spent
a great deal of time not interacting with people on
a social basis, they don't know how to do that anymore.
They're used to going on social media and saying whatever
(01:29:26):
they want whenever they want to, and now they're doing
it to you in person. So I guess I would
ask we can do a question on this. We can
do a talkback question on this. Go to KTRH on
the iHeartRadio app, put us on the preset. It'll get
you there quickly thirty seconds. Give me your first name,
last name. Do you think people are more rude since
the COVID nineteen pandemic? In what ways do you think
(01:29:46):
they are more rude? Just go to iHeartRadio app KTRH,
put us on the preset, and you hit the talkback
button to respond. Traffic and weather together starts us.
Speaker 4 (01:29:57):
Worth worst drivers, that's for sure, I think. So why
do you think that is?
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
I just think all that staying home nonsense. People forgot
how to drive. Oh you have anywhere to go during
COVID nineteen.
Speaker 5 (01:30:07):
And if you also notice, if you're in a store,
it's like we don't know how to get out of
each other's way anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
We just don't know about space.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
Let's do some West Sam here northbound beach Nut. Melissa

(01:30:35):

Wh's twenty four hour with the center. Terry Smith is here.
Winds started dying down yesterday, Terry. So they feel like
they're a little bit more normal. We got some rain
the other day. We have some more rain coming in.
It feels like the weather patterns kind of getting into
something a little bit closer to normal.
Speaker 19 (01:31:44):
It's it's certainly acting almost I would almost describe it
as routine because we get these situations where every couple
of days we get a front to swing on through
and these are Pacific storms. They come off the Pacific
make their way across the country instead of being the
Arctic storms and that we get sometimes in the winter,
(01:32:06):
the ones that move from way up north and bring
us big swings in temperatures. Now, we are going to

we're cloudy, low to mid eighties tomorrow. Now we've got

All of this will change starting today.
Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Youth Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
Well state like Texas, where we're routinely hear from Center
Point that you know, hey, we're kind of on the
edge here of what we can produce. We would really
like it, just you know, there's a chance that we
could run out of power. Today we don't hear that
quite as often anymore, and that's a good thing. But
maybe this piece of legislation proposed by State Senator Kelly
(01:35:18):
Hancock could help with that it's a piece of legislation
to reduce electricity and energy wasteed Texas facilities. Senator Hancock joins, us, Now,
how does this work in your bill?
Speaker 4 (01:35:31):
Senator? How would we reduce electricity and energy waste?
Speaker 43 (01:35:35):
But I think you've kind of started out my point
really well? Is that my point? And I guess my
position in the bill is, you know, Texas has a
government entity. We're one of the largest employers in the state.
We have a number of facilities across the state. And
it's my belief that when you lead, you have to
leave by example. And so you know, as we go
(01:35:56):
out to stituent citizens and you know, more importantly businesses
that are driving our economy and we ask them to
curtail in other words, to pull back your usage of electricity,
and we just got to think, and you know, what
are we doing about that? How are we leading and
making sure that we're maximizing the energy efficiency across the
(01:36:16):
states As an employer, you know, as an entity that
owns a number of buildings across the state. And so
it's pulling the agencies together and having them look at
that and be more focused and concentrated on it. Really
leading by example, before we come to you and say, hey,
we need you to you know, reduce you know, your
thermostatue on your wall, or don't do your dishes, and
(01:36:39):
so to make sure that we're leading by example, we're
maximizing that also there you know, there are federal funds
towards energy efficiency. Are we utilizing those properly and just
making sure as well of the largest employers in the state,
we're we're doing what we should be doing.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
But we're asking you, you know what, I don't mind
the idea at the center Hancock of you know, being
more efficient, of not wasting energy, of maybe setting state
thermostats at you know, seventy four and says seventy two
for example. But you know, one of the one of
the areas that you know that I think peeves a
lot of Texas residents is that we get these notifications
(01:37:18):
of potential not having enough power. And of course our
question always says, well, then why don't we produce more power.
It's great that we want to maybe save energy, but
shouldn't we also be doing something as a state to
produce more electricity for the state. We're only going to
continue to grow.
Speaker 43 (01:37:35):
Right exactly, and we've done that. In fact, these last
winter months when we were literally setting demand records, you know,
I track it, and we had anywhere from eight thousand,
you know, I think it was around over eighty five
hundred to eleven thousand additional megawatts available with the demand
(01:37:55):
around ninety. So that tells you how much headroom we
had this time around down with the changes the state's
already made. And so that is a market driven generation
is because we let the market do that and investors
come and invest in it. And so the changes that
we made you post the winter storm are having an
effect and we are seeing more generation command of all kinds.
(01:38:18):
And you know, it is a really a good sign
to see when we were setting record demands that we
were also having very large headroom additional capacity on the
system because of the work that Texas has done, you know,
led by Governor Abbott Lieutenant Governor Patrick, that the changes
that we've made have already impacted and we continue to
(01:38:40):
see investment in the state and new generation of all kinds.
Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
Well, something tells me we're going to need a whole
lot more in the not too distant future. But I
will say this, I'm very glad you know it does
make sense as a taxpayer, it does make sense to
me that the state would look for ways to to
save energy because it's by taxpayer dollars and all of
our listeners taxpayer dollars that are paying those energy bills
to keep those state sites up and running and to
(01:39:04):
keep those office buildings going.
Speaker 43 (01:39:07):
Oh absolutely, And you know in Texas going to continue
to grow. We are the economic engine of the state.
And what that means is businesses are going to continue
to come here, which means investors into that new generation
you're talking about.
Speaker 30 (01:39:20):
In fact, you look at.
Speaker 43 (01:39:21):
Those stock markets in those sectors regarding energy and generation,
they've done extremely well over the last two years, and
most of that investment is looking at coming to Texas
because as businesses grow, as we grow, investors know that
they're going to need electricity and so they're investing in generation.
And what we have to do as governments make sure
(01:39:41):
we don't get in the way and let the market work.
Speaker 3 (01:39:44):
All right, Senator, thanks as always appreciated. That is State
Senator Kelly Hancock. At seven twenty seven. Time to take
a look at your money as we check in again

CBP literally has almost one hundred percent operational control of

that we know who's coming into this country, and that
they love our country and they want to.

hundred and five of the three hundred and seventy illegal

or already convicted.
Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
Of them.
Speaker 6 (01:42:35):
Democrat cities like Boston keep losing people to red states
like Texas and will gain four new congressional seats by
twenty thirty. That said, these people are coming to cities
like Houston, Dallas, and Austin. So the question is will
those new seats just go to Democrats.
Speaker 29 (01:42:51):
Economic development across the state, whether it's South Texas, Waco,
East Texas, a lot of these people are going to
be dispersed across the state.
Speaker 6 (01:43:01):
Political consultant Bill Miller says he doesn't think all these
new Texans will infect vote Democrat. Now, we told you
last week a bill was filed in Austin to get
rid of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, But the
state rep who filed it, Republican Pat Curry, is not
going ahead, saying he just wanted to get the department
to the table to discuss proposed regulations. Another new piece
(01:43:23):
of legislation has been proposed to reduce electricity and energy
waste in Texas facilities.
Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
It sounds like a new problem, but is it a
big one.
Speaker 30 (01:43:32):
It's not a massive problem. I think this is more
of a kind of a cleanup. It sounds kind of
good to get some some press.
Speaker 31 (01:43:39):
That's Brad Johnson, senior reporter with the Texan. So will
this help lower our bills?
Speaker 30 (01:43:45):
I think indirectly it could if it prevents the state
from dipping into emergency conditions.
Speaker 20 (01:43:50):
Because the way the grid works.

the money. It was about moderates in the Texas House
trying to take out one of their biggest political opponents
and the most conservative attorney general in America.
Speaker 6 (01:44:19):
Political consultant Luke Missius believes that the number is actually higher.

I understand that for people online a lot, the Wi
Fi is kind of an important little aspect, you know.
Certainly certainly makes surfing the internet a lot quicker and easier.
But I've never heard anybody put a value that would
make it a capital offense. In other words, turn off
my WiFi and I kill you. But evidently three teenage
girls here in Houston are in custody after allegedly planning,
(01:47:37):
not not threatening, planning to kill their mother because she
turned off the Wi Fi in their home. Yes to them,
evidently no WiFi is the capital events. Harris County deputy
say the incident occurred to the thirty four hundred block
of Barker's Crossing overnight Sunday. Here's the ages of the girls,
(01:47:59):
by the way, who were going to try to kill
their mother fourteen, fifteen and sixteen. I guess she was
kind of busy fourteen, fifteen and sixteen years ago. She
had those kids back to back to back. They reportedly
grabbed kitchen knives and chased their mother through the house
(01:48:19):
and into the street, attempting to stab her one of
the teams struck the mother with a brick. Their grandmother
was also knocked down while trying to protect the mother.
Neither woman sustained serious injuries. All three teens arrested in
charged with aggravated assault where the deadly weapon. All three
have been booked at the Harris County Juvenile Facility, which
(01:48:41):
I think they're likely to stay in, at least I
hope they're likely to stay in there. They're a potential
menace to society. Now that goes beyond rude. We were
talking about rude a little earlier that a lot of people,
according to Pew Research, believed that we've become more rude
since the COVID nineteen pandemic. So I asked you to
ask you do you think that's the case, and if so,
(01:49:03):
how do you think we've become more rude? You can
respond at the iHeart radio app KTRH. Put us on

since COVID nineteen.
Speaker 29 (01:49:22):
I'm James T.
Speaker 49 (01:49:23):
And Yeah, I think overall people didn't get more rude
during COVID, more so the younger generations because all they
had was their screens to deal with, and they don't
know how to interact with humans, and they don't have
any common sense due to social media. So when in
public this happens that they reacted improperly, us older generations,
(01:49:46):
we respond in like manner.
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
But that's all I have.
Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
Okay, Well, should we respond though in like manner? Or
should we try to maybe lay down as more reasonable
common sense adults. Should we try to lay down a
lesson in how you should behave seven forty time for

low visibility in a number of places. Wrong again, hey, Jimmy,
and well, but that's the thing with fog, right it is.
Speaker 4 (01:51:56):
It's sneaky.
Speaker 24 (01:51:57):
Let's just call it that.
