(00:00):
To understand is to listen. Icheck in all the time to keep up
with what's happening. Staying in formmatters to HUES Radio seven forty KTRH.
There's plenty of lawyers, lots ofmoney, no doubt about that being spent
on the Trump trial in Manhattan. We're getting towards the end though. Closing
arguments start today, joining us asattorney dun and Biles. All right,
(00:23):
play the part of the prosecutor inthe defense for me here, Dunham,
how do you expect these closing argumentsto go well? I think the prosecutors
have indicated that they're going to takea very large, significant amount of time.
The judges warned the jury that theymay be hearing arguments into tomorrow.
It sounds like the prosecution intends togo peace by piece insequential order of the
(00:46):
evidence, using powerpoints and other things. I think you can imagine the Trump
attorneys are going to attack the credibilityof Cohen Stormy Daniels. They may want
to go through the timeline themselves andtalk about some of the silliness as I
recall the facts on this case. They've got some great arguments themselves on the
timeline and whether it just makes anysense at all. What do you make
(01:07):
of this judges ruling to the jurythat they don't have to even decide what
the underlying crime was. I mean, isn't that what made this a felony?
And this is what this bookkeeping thingis all about, the bookkeeping to
cover up a crime. But youdon't have to even know or decide what
the crime was. You can goahead and find them guilty. Yeah.
I'm disheartened, to say the leastabout that. So apparently this judge has
(01:33):
decided among these still somewhat unknown crimes. We'll see what the jury instructure has
actually look like later today, Iassume. But yes, apparently he's gonna
let they can disagree on which crimeit is, as long as they all
agree some underlying crime happened, doesn'tmatter. That seems not a due process
(01:53):
way of doing things. If theycan't agree that there was underlying crime,
then it seems like we don't havea and this case should be oble with
well dug Yeah, here's my bottomline question though here, and that is,
you know, do we have AndI'm rapidly personally losing faith and then
(02:14):
the justice system at least as itrelates to New York. But do you
still have faith based on the factwe are still talking about a jury here
and this jury has to completely agreeall twelve jurys have to agree on his
guilt in order for him to beconvicted. Yes, I still have some
faith. Well, See, thejury structures are important. I think in
(02:35):
my experience, juris take those thosecharges seriously, read them very carefully.
Oftentimes you know you expect the jurywould come back sooner, or the answers
to why they didn't is they spenda lot of time trying to understand the
jury instructions in this court. Doesn'tgive me a whole lot of faith that
those instructions are going to be verygood. So that gives me some concern
the more I think about it.I think given that we're in New York
(02:55):
City and the way the jury selectionwas done, I think it's hard to
fathom that we could land up withtwelve truly impartial jurors jurors and land up
with a not guilty verdict because thatrequires all twelve as well. So it
seems to me a hung jury iscertainly in the cards to be had here.
What kind of repercussions are there forthis judge. He's an appointed judge,
(03:20):
and the way he's conducted himself insidethat core room, will there ever
be any repercussions on him? Almostcertainly not? The truth is that?
Right? You? The three ofus can agree, and there are lots
of other lawyers may agree with us, But we now live in times where
you know, there's a lot ofbias, there's a lot of political involvement,
and I'm sure in New York Cityhis views aren't in the minority.
(03:45):
Probably so politics control of justice, right, I hope not, But there
are times where I certainly think itseems to all. Right, counselor thanks
for your time, do appreciate it. That's Attorney Duneham Biles joining US five
