Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six twenty two on news radio seven forty k TRH.
Bill Miller, political consultant, joined us this morning about the
Texas THC band. You just heard both talking about a
second ago. The veto from Governor Abbitt creates this new
divide possibly, it seems like it for sure, between Governor
Abbitt and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. Bill, thanks for joining
us this morning on seven forty k TRH news radio.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Should say Hello, A right, Chris, good morning, good morning.
Good it's good. Have you hear it?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
So this is why what's really going on here? This
seems so silly and stupid. Yeah, what's really going on?
What's the play here?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, there is silliness and there is a degree.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Of stupidity in politics. What we're playing, what's playing at
here is pretty simple. We have true men, powerful state officials,
state wade officials who are accustomed to.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Getting their way.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
And in Dan Patrick's position, he basically, you know, he
operates the Senate kind of this and he it's what
he wants when he wants it. And for Abbot to
veto a high priority or number one priority bill for him,
he sounded shocked and amazed that that the governor would
(01:12):
cross him on this. He's also said he's not going
to negotiate something in the four going forward, which means
nothing's going to happen because Abbot is not going to
be intimidated by Patrick. And if he brings him the
same bill, and it's just going to be vetoed again,
and that's going to be a standoff.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
And if you where does that leave everybody?
Speaker 3 (01:34):
You don't want to get between the two of them,
because they both are willful, strong individuals and they both
are going to get their way. Abbot will be the
final authority on this, so because he can veto the
bill and Patrick can.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Only pass in the House.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
In the Senate bill, I here, here's what I don't understand.
I'm not expecting you to be a scientist or an
expert on THC levels, but what the heck is Texas
does not sell, as far as I know, the same crap.
When I go to Chicago, my hometown in Illinois, they
sell this, and Missouri does too, Like full on, full
of weed stuff. We don't sell that. But governor or
Governor Patrick is saying people are dying and walking into
(02:10):
trains by the way Samething has with alcohol. But we're
not selling the freaking same thing we're selling the selling
of the Illinois Missouri.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I don't even understand.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
What they're selling is stuff in the news. What is
this stuff like like a quarter or a tenth of
what they sell in Illinois Missouri.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Well, it's not the same stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
And if you've been into a state we're's legalized, you
know you can get some powerful stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
You can't buy that in Texas.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
And so Patrick from time to time takes the possession
of kind of hide moral ground this way he would
describe it. And this is one he has claimed that
he's going to follow in the sword about. Well, he
is going to fall on the sword because nothing's going
to happen the way he wants it. And that's just
the way it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
And remember these.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Are people both have it and Patrick, who've been around
a long time. They're accustomed to getting their way. You know,
people who's accustomed to get in their way are unhappy
when they don't. And that's really what we have here.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay, So what do you think is gonna how do
you think this is going to play out?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Because and by the.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Way, government says a special session just for this is
that really true?
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Play Well, well, he's put some other things in the
in the call, as they say, and and THC is
just one of them.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
You know, Patrick has said he's not going to negotiate,
which means he's going to pass the prohibition again in
the Senate, just like he did before.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The House.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Probably they could go along with that, but it's going
to be vetoted again, so they're not. The House won't
waste their time doing something that they know will be vetoted.
I think that the special session, honestly, Chris is about
other things.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
He's put THC in.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
There because it was a priority for Patrick, and he's
kind as a favor to say, come on back and
do it a little better.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's maybe people.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Maybe the message to people needs to be in this date.
If you want in a great inugreat state, if you
want to stock up on fake weed, you better buy
it now. It might be banned soon. It's fake though
there's like nothing, you might as well smoke up. Ananapel,
I appreciate, I appreciate you joining us this morning, Bill,
Bill Miller, I mean, what the heck is this crap?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Thank you, brother, have a great morning. It's six twenty
