Speaker 1 (00:00):
Seven twenty three. Now you're in Houston's warrant US this
this follows nicely after our little discussion there the US
Department of Education, and that is what is going on
at our state colleges and universities. Well, Texas A and
M's DEI based educational classes continue evidently, So what do
we do about that? I think the governor made it

(00:22):
pretty clear that DEI needs to disappear from Texas state
universities and colleges, but clearly it hasn't. Brian Harrison joins
US Texas State representative. Clearly, there's going to have to
be a tougher tone taken with these universities or or
is it going to take more of a caret stick

(00:43):
approach here? What do you think?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Good morning? Great to be with you. Yeah, And let
me start with the basic principle here, and that's the
tax dollars. Texans are over tax I mean, quite frankly,
taxes are way too high, even in Texas. And when
Texans have their money taken from them by the government
for the purposes of education and to fund our public colleges,
those tax dollars are supposed to be for education, not

(01:07):
for leftists. Indoctrination. And I'm sorry, I just I hate
to say this. It's embarrassing as a Texan, but it
feels like the inmates are running the asylum in the
executive branch education branches because the legislature did not authorize
or appropriate dollars sustain that LGBTQ plus minors and courses.

(01:28):
And I'm not making this up. What I'm reading to
you right now. Quote at Texas A and M, they
are teaching something called quote adolescent masculinity and the fag discourse.
This is another one direct quote women in hip hop
push back against the male gays. The University of Texas
is abusing tax dollars on their miners on this, the

(01:48):
University of North Texas, the University of Houston, And I'm
going to file a bill. I've just announced this. I'm
going to file a bill next session because they're not
getting the hints. Taxpayers are fed up with this. I'm
gonna file build next session to zero the budgets for
the Office of the University President for any public institution
of higher learning that continues to abuse taxpayer money to

(02:11):
fund woke leftists and doctrination on our public colleges and.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Universities I've had. It seems to be representative that that's what
it's going to take. The only stick approach that works
with these universities is withholding funds, withholding state support, and
it's going to take millions of dollars of threatened money
in order to be able to make them pay attention.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well, right, and think about the situation we're in. We've
got President Trump who's going to Washington.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
D C.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
With an absolute mandate to be conservative in government. He's
talking about shutting down the liberal woke Department of Education.
At the federal level, we might be staring at a
situation where Washington, d C. Is doing more to fight
the leftist progressive abuse of tax dollars than we are
in the great state of Texas. And look, I'm a
proud Texan and we've got a reputation for leading the

(02:55):
nation in the defense of individual liberty and small government
and freedom. But I'm going to be on us. For
the last several years, we've done more coasting on that reputation,
and it's about time we live up to it. And
we need to cut these programs and quite frankly, we
need to send that money back to the pockets of
Texans so that we can lower their tax bill because

(03:15):
I'm sick of Texas tax dollars being weaponized against them
and their values. This is Texas and we're better than this.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Governor Abbit has made some threats in the past about
doing that. Clearly that has not happened. Do you believe
they don't take him seriously with his threats.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I don't know what's going on, but I can tell
you that I'm in the legislature and we didn't authorize
or appropriate a single penny for this leftist garbage. This
is all happening in the executive branch. It could be ended.
I think it could be ended tomorrow, quite frankly. And
here's the thing. We need to have accountability for any
executive branch bureaucrats that bypassed the legislature to abuse tax

(03:51):
dollars to fund the leftist propaganda. Departments need to be cut,
budgets need to be zeroed out, and I'm sorry, people
need to be fired. There's got to be accountability when
you abuse my constituous tax money to fund leftist propaganda
on college campus, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Accountability is the answer, Thank you, sir. Appreciate your time
that state Representative Brian Harrison at is seven twenty seven
