Speaker 1 (00:00):
Seven, twenty two, now here on Houston's Morning News. So
let's see if we can ungravel this story a little bit.
The medical director of the Texas Medical Board retiring after
less than two weeks after conservative lawmakers publicized his employment
with a Planned Parenthood laboratory. His name was doctor Robert
will still is doctor Robert Brutt worked as medical director
for the State Medical Licensing Agency. Since you ready for this,

(00:23):
twenty twelve, so he'd been there for twelve years now.
Of course, my quesse first question would be from state
Representative Brian Harrison. How many years was he double dipping there?
How many years was he also the state medical director
and working for Planned Parenthood.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, we're still looking in to know that for a fact.
But I mean, you just can't overstate how outrageous this is.
And it brings as we gabble in a new session
down here the Texas Legislature highlights one of the most
important things I'm trying to educate Texans all over the state.
And that's it. Texas has this reputation for leading the
nation and freedom and liberty and conservative values, but in

(01:02):
far too many ways we are just coasting on those
reputations and we need to start living up to it.
And look, the state of Texas should be leading the
fight against planned parenthood, not putting them on our payroll,
not forcing taxpayers to subsidize them. In this case, if
you're listening right now and you pay taxes in Texas,
your taxes were paying a Planned Parenthood official two hundred

(01:23):
thousand dollars a year. And to do what to regulate
every other doctor in the state of Texas. That is
outrage Proud to have helped deliver this victory to get
that guy off the.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Payroll, and thank you for doing that. But here's what
else I would like to know. And this may be
a bigger a sign of a bigger problem. I mean,
let's face it, I'm a Republican, but Republicans are not
perfect and mistakes, mistakes do get made. One would ask,
how did this guy get to be appointed? To begin with?
Given the fact that the governor, Governor Greg Abbott appoints

(01:56):
the board, the board is the one that appointed him.
So well, I guess the question would be are we
making smart board choices if we have governor having appointed
board members who voted to have this guy be the
medical director to begin with?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Well, I think the answer to that question is as
bad as it is, is also obvious in that no,
we aren't. First of all, bureaucrafts in the state of Texas,
not just Washington, DC. But bureaucrats are wielding way too
much power. And you know, President Trump is going back
to take a wrecking ball to the administrative state.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
We should lead by.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Example in taking away all this power from these woke, liberal,
leftist unelected bureaucrats. And in this case we've got and
yes they are appointed by the governor, the Texas Medical
Board directors. But this is a board that during COVID
was prosecuting doctors over mask policies, and doctors who are

(02:52):
trying to treat patients, and who were not just blindly
listening to Joe Biden's CDC and and to FDA. But
what were they doing while they're prosecuting doctors trying to
treat patients. On one hand, and I've been sound to
the alarm of this for two years, they were empowering
doctors in the state of Texas to perform these dangerous
sex changed procedures on precious, vulnerable children. And to keep

(03:17):
in mind, the same Texas Medical Board that had a
Planned Parenthood official as their medical directors. So maybe it
makes sense. But to go back to your question a
second ago, because I'm reading through his CV right here,
his resume, this planned parenthood official. If it's correct, and
this we're one of things we're looking into, it looks
like he was a planned Parenthood official starting in twoenty eleven.

(03:38):
And you know what that means. That means that somebody,
a Republican appointed official in the state of Texas, hired
a planned Parenthood official and did it knowingly. There needs
to be accountability, and quite frankly, budgets need to be
cut and people need to be fired.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
I think though, and again you know, I'm not trying
to pick on the governor, but I think the accountability
also has to go to the governor's office. We need
you do a better job of vetting the people that
are being appointed. We've had problems with the with the
State Public Utility Commission and the way that they handled
Center Point. Now we've got this particular problem. I think
I think that maybe way too often these positions are

(04:14):
you know, political favors that are paid by whoever is
in power in the governor's office, and maybe that's the
part that needs to stop as well.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Now there's got to be Look, the legislative branch of
the government is actually that's where the Constitution really gave
all the power to write all the laws in the state.
Let me tell you I've been in the Texas Legislature
three years now after working under President Trump in Washington,
d C. In his first term, we had the legislature
has got to step up and do legislative oversight over
these executive branch agencies, even if we have a Republican governor,

(04:46):
as we do. And I'll give you one more example,
because these agencies are off the rails. Number One, our
public universities in the state of Texas. It's like the
inmates are running the assylum. We've got LGBTQ miners popping
off all over the case. Our our public universities. Ut
they're promoting transgenderism at taxpayer expense. And here's another agency,
the Texas Workforce Commission. I did the same thing to

(05:07):
them just about a month or two ago when they
put on their website they were going to start treating
transgender and sexual identity as a protected class for employment
law in the state of Texas. The same thing I
sounded the alarm, got them to the take that that
insanity off of their website. But I shouldn't be having
to do this. You're right, they have a boss and

(05:28):
there needs to be better management over in the executive branch.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
It's just no other way to say it. Well, thanks
for shining the light on sir. We sure to appreciate it.
