is outbound. Gotta wreck here, two right lanes. I think
everybody's okay. We're coming off the north Loop. I want
you to watch that ramp that goes from the Heights
and Garden Oaks back over toward two ninety and also
on the west flop northbound. Watch it when you do
the merging there. Otherwise you'll see a lot of flashy lights.
(01:00):
I don't think you'll run into them. Oh, we still
have that smush on the East Freeway. I'm not supposed
to hit this East Freeway outbound from the Loop to
Federal Road. That's pretty ugly. They'll pick it up in

from their fit parents.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Last night, the Scifair ISD approving a policy to require
staff to notify parents if a student wants to change
his or her gender identity. This of course triggered the left.

That teenager with our TV partner, Channel two. The vote
was four to one. Also topping the news the winter weather,
Urkott is monitoring the freeze that's headed our way next week.
The grid passed the first test of the winner. Will
it hold up again?
Speaker 7 (02:35):
This might be Urkott's biggest test since Winter Storm Uri
in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 8 (02:39):
I would not be surprised if we set a record
for maximum winter road Urcott is actually forecasting that on
January twenty first.
Speaker 7 (02:48):
The good news is Tom Overbee with Texas A and
M says that we should be able to handle the
increased demand.
Speaker 8 (02:53):
The grid is much better prepared for cold weather than
it was. We also have more generation than the generation
is much better when arived.
Speaker 7 (03:02):
Overby says the worst we should expect our small localized
outages due to issues like down to power lines. Ethan
Buchanan News Radio seven forty KRH.

the chance of some frozen precipitation Monday and Tuesday.
Speaker 9 (03:16):
If the ship station holds off till like the middle
of Tuesday morning, then we'll probably be mostly about freezing
and it'll be rain. If it comes earlier, it could
be snow, and there's also the potential for freezing rain.
Speaker 5 (03:27):

Speaker 10 (03:58):
States really screwed up Thorn of the way they handled
their economy and the way they handle manufacturing, the way
they handle access to supply chains.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Joe, the Texas economy is just fine, that was Biden
on MSNBC. He leaves office with an approval rating, according
to Fox, of forty two percent fifty two percent said
he made the economy worse, twenty eight percent think he
made it better. Confirmation hearings continued yesterday on Capitol Hill,

or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of
a sexual nature.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
No, Senator, I have not.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
That was Hawaii Senator Mazie Herono asking that question to
the pick to run the Interior, Doug Bergham.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
She asked it of everybody, She's a dumbass.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Among the hearing scheduled for today include DHS and Hamas
is officially signed, with Hamas now promising to returned hostages
for prisoners held by Israel.
Speaker 13 (05:02):
The only thing that sort of broke the logjam was
when Donald Trump clearly stated, if these hostages aren't released
by the time I'm in office, they'll.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Have all hell to pay. That's the incoming seriously, and
they should.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
That's the incoming US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee. The
government of Israel should approved the deal later today. Here
at home, with Bible sales on the rise, a new
global index fines that one out of a Christians are
persecuted for their faith.
Speaker 14 (05:31):
Like Houston pastor Richard Vega, who says he faced persecution
in Austin.
Speaker 15 (05:37):
We were surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of people. They
start spitting on us, they start throwing stuff out us.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Die.
Speaker 15 (05:43):
Actually got pushed two times.
Speaker 14 (05:45):
And it's even worse across the globe, like a woman
who escaped to Texas from Pakistan.
Speaker 16 (05:52):
She was targeted by the Muslims there in her town
for being a.
Speaker 17 (05:56):
Christian and they threw acid all over her.
Speaker 14 (06:00):

Deputy Vargas Has Vargas are still being finalized. He was
murdered on Wednesday and honored in Congress.
Speaker 18 (06:30):
As a former law enforcement officer and share for Fort
Benk County, Texas. I know all too well the sacrifices
our nation's law enforcement officers make Deputy Vargas was a
hero to Bassouria County, the great State of Texas, and
our nation.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
Texas Congressman Troy Nails. Meanwhile, the canine unit Rocky, that
was shot in that incident is recovering at a animal

More than thirty thousand runners participate in Sunday's marathon on
and the field, this year highlighted by a pair of Olympians,
(07:04):
Clayton Young and Connor Mantz.
Speaker 19 (07:05):
We really looking for it. I was at the Olympic
Trials this year and earlier this year, and the job
that Connor and Clinton did was admirable and really exciting
for American running, and we couldn't be more pleased to
have them here and host the event.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Now, Wade Morehead with the Houston Marathon Committee says there
will be enhanced security following the terror attack in New Orleans.
There will also be road closures across the city. The

stepping a five game winning streak. I'm Cliff Saunders on
Houston's news weather in traffic station KTRH.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News Team,
Houston's Morning News.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
You know, you take things for granted, things like direct deposit,
until you get up that morning and you check your
bank account and the direct deposit isn't there, and you're going,
wait a minute, that hasn't ever happened before. What's going on?
That's what happened is some Capital one customers, what's in
your wallet? Capital one customers? Nothing? Capital one users reporting
(08:10):
issues receiving their deposits yesterday morning, leaving many customers wondering
where their money and their paychecks were. Complaints on social
media pouring in what's going on with business? Checking accounts?
One X user asked, customer service told me everything should
be worked out in about two hours. It's going on
(08:30):
three hours now, still nothing has been resolved, the whole
account and money not showing up. Capital one replied to
the company was working to resolve the issue, whatever that
issue was. And you know, quite honestly, I'm kind of
surprised it doesn't happen more often. I think one of
my greatest fears. Do you remember before we had direct
(08:54):
deposit and You used to get a company paycheck, and
you know, they'd be in your mailbox or whatever, or
they'd hand it out to you and then you'd have
to sign the back of it and you'd take it
to the bank and all that other stuff. Well, when
direct deposit came along, it was like, all right, I
don't have to deal with this anymore, so it's going
(09:15):
to show up in my account. But the problem is,
of course, what if it doesn't show up in your account.
What if there's a glitch, What if something happens and
the deposit doesn't make it to your account, or what
if something happens and all of a sudden, the bank
thinks you have no money when you had dined I
don't know five or ten thousand dollars in there, and
a computer glitch has caused a problem. It's still a fear.
(09:38):
I mean, we live in a world where everything is
on the internet, everything is is computerized, everything is digital,
and it wouldn't take much to cause chaos for some
foreign entity to just mess with all of our bank accounts.
It wouldn't and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.
Five ten time for traffic and whether together, ah I
(10:01):
thought you had your cash stashed under the mattress.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Guyne I got you know some here, I've diversified, you know,
some in my sock, some of my underwear. Let's go
to the northwest side. Here we're looking at two ninety
outbound at Dakoma and oh they cleared it. Okay, good,
they've cleared that accident. Here the skunch is out of
the way, and that's good news. To ninety. Just stay
the course. It's nothing. Katie Freeway. We look rocking now
(10:26):
from Katie Mills twenty eight minutes into the President's heads.
Guess how the West Park toilway's going, Terry, it's going.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Oh that's right. Boom. How did you know? Ben?
Speaker 4 (10:35):
See, I did your job yesterday, you do mine today.
Let's see hard hats tip bline. I'm lonely in here.
Seven one three two one two t ips. I need
to hear some tip line, got Mike, this blew.
Speaker 20 (10:45):
Us on the hard work and east side that it
in east gun.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Boom is roadwork out standing? First banana sticker of the morning,
Extra points for verbiage. Keep the tip lines coming, Terry,
by the way, Yes, I have a word for this.
Speaker 21 (10:59):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Edit it for radio shift Winter shift mgeddon is what
we're gonna call this. I'm skylike going to Generator Supercenter
dot com traffic center. Be careful when you say that.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
From our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour weather
sentat Terry Smith is joining us. Elsa's warming up in
the green room.
Speaker 22 (11:16):
Just so you know, all right, Elsa, come on down.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Soundtrack from Frozen will be played Monday night Tuesday morning
multiple times.
Speaker 22 (11:26):
Indeed, well, yeah, we're all excited, aren't we.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Is that what you're calling it? Excited?
Speaker 23 (11:33):
Yeah, well, uh, there seems to be a certain amount
of excitement. Let's put it that way.
Speaker 22 (11:39):
Here's a good thing.
Speaker 23 (11:40):
It's nice and quiet through Monday, getting colder though by
the end of the weekend.
Speaker 22 (11:45):
So you have some time to think.
Speaker 23 (11:48):
If it snows Tuesday, what do I need to have
with me? So we got some time to prepare. There's
a twenty percent chance of a shower today.
Speaker 22 (11:58):
That's it.
Speaker 23 (11:59):
Midsig these to around seventy starting to get the cooler
air to move in Tomorrow. Tomorrow's dry, sunny, upper fifties
to low sixties. Now the cold air arrives Sunday and
it hangs around for a while, mid upper forties on
Sunday for highs. Monday load a bit forties four highs,
and then Tuesday we're starting to see a little more
(12:23):
agreement that we're going to have sufficient moisture and sufficient
cold air that will have something wintery. And at the
moment it looks like most of that could fall in
the form of snow. So I have a sixty percent
chance of some snow for Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
All right, no, are you willinging to venture? Guess on
the mounts, I'm seeing one to three inches is what
a lot of folks are talking about. Do you see that.
Speaker 22 (12:47):
I've seen that as well.
Speaker 23 (12:49):
So here's the thing with estimating snowfall amounts or rainfall amounts. Actually,
we have to estimate how much moisture is expected to
fall from the clouds and then convert that over into
a mixing ratio we call it where is it light
snow or heavy wet snow, and that will impact the
(13:09):
amount of snow.
Speaker 22 (13:11):
So this far.
Speaker 23 (13:13):
Out, it's really hard to say we're going to have
one to three inches of rain and therefore to convert
that into snowfall. So, yes, I'm seeing one to three
inches too. That's a good place to start. I'd go
along with it, but I'm not going to bet money
on it.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I gotcha all right, now go to Vegas on that
one's gotcha right now forty two at your official severe
weather station, News Radio seven forty k TIH. It's Houston's
Morning News, brought to you byen New South Windows Solutions.
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team.
All the info you need to take on the day.
You know, one of the most amazing parts of the story,
(13:51):
the local story of a police officer, the deputy who
got shot Hayes's Vargas shot and killed, is how much
attention has been paid to the knine Rocky, you know,
the dog that jumped into the dumpster, found the suspect,
(14:11):
ended up getting shot twice and is evidently going to
be fine. It's really quite an amazing story that everybody's into.
We'll get you an update here coming up next, first though,
traffic and weather together, starting with you sky make well.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
I have to think, all right to eighty eight and
I've got a camera shot here to eighty eight. Which
way are we going? At Underwood, which is right by
Battleground Road. I'm looking from Title and Center Street. Which
way are you? Okay? You're outbound? All right, here's the
wreck here one two right lanes. We're getting by it. Okay.
It is causing a bit of a smush, and you've
got enough flashy lights. It won't sneak up on you.
(14:43):
Let's be super careful as we're leaving Lion del Basel
and heading out toward dal Skymike on the Generator Supercenter
dot Com Traffic Center from.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
R KTRH Tom Tax Defenders twenty four our weather center
for today. We're looking at mostly cloudy skies with the
high red about sixty eight, cooler tomorrow around sixty Sunday,
turning colder forty six on Sunday. We're down to twenty
eighth Sunday night thirty two, by the way, with one
to three inches of snowshowers expected at least at this
point on Tuesday. As best we can tell. That's likely
(15:12):
to get updated again before it actually arrives right down.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Thank you, Jimmy, we are sponsored by DNM Auto Leasing.
As expected, the Harris County DA's office is recused from
the case involving three of County Judge Lena Hidalgo's staffers.
The Attorney General still has the case, though. The LA
wildfire death toll rises to twenty seven and SpaceX's Starship
exploded shortly after launch yesterday. The company, though called it

Speaker 2 (16:08):
It's US Radio seven forty KGRH on FM Houston's News, weather,
traffic and.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Talk at ninety nine one h t two.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Well that's the dad. I'll tell you what I think.
This canine is a hero. I really do. I think
he He may not wear a cave, but he does
fight crime. There's no doubt about that. He does fight crime.
His name is Rocky and his picture is everywhere. And
I mean, I think the reason why the story got
such fascination is there just happened to be a DPS
(16:39):
helicopter in the area, thank goodness. And they landed it
in a crowd full of people to put this dog
on a stretcher and to get him to MedFlight him
over to the veterinary hospital where they got to work
on him right away and as a result, he is
going to be fine. Here is the report with an
update on what's going on with Knine Rocky from our
(17:00):
television partner Gate PRC two.
Speaker 24 (17:02):
There was two or an entrance won and an exit
wound on the right side, right behind the jahn line
kind of the neck and then through the shoulders.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Narrowly missed his fine, which is amazing.
Speaker 24 (17:16):
The hand of God was there and directed that bullow
it away from all of those vital organs.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
It's incredible news.
Speaker 25 (17:22):
And what's even more incredible is that Canine Rocky has
a very good chance of returning to full service.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Touity. Think about that being shot.
Speaker 25 (17:30):
Three times, once in the nose and then twice in
the shoulder and chest area, nearly dying being rushed here,
everything went right for Canine Rocky.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
I asked the veterinarian.
Speaker 25 (17:40):
I said, hey, if that helicopter wasn't there, let's just
remove that helicopter from this situation. What would the narrative
of this story be he said, it would.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Be one hundred percent different. There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 25 (17:51):
This is a situation of everything going right during a
situation where everything was going wrong. When you look at it, it
was such a tragic situation. But I Rocky, according to
his handler from the US Marshall Service, he.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
Saved at least four lives.
Speaker 25 (18:05):
And these pictures from inside the hospital from last night,
these are tragic. These are pictures that were taken just
in case Canaine Rocky didn't survive.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Okay, think about that.
Speaker 25 (18:16):
Those were pictures just in case this story would have
been different. At this point, they were stabilizing Rocky. It
was this morning that they performed surgery to repair that
damage to his nose. Actually, the veterinaria officials here saying
that they actually did a little bit of plastic surgery
to make it look like it used to like a
regular dog's nose. But what's incredible is just less than
twenty four hours after a dog was shot three times,
(18:39):
Canaine Rocky, he's a resilient fellow.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
He was up, he's walking around and he's eating.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
It's amazing. The other reports, it's like you're talking about
a person and I'm not saying that canine Rocky doesn't
deserve the celebrity treatment. I think he does. But good lord,
we just did plastic surgery on the dogs. Those nose
looks right. But as far as the returning disservice thing is,
(19:04):
anybody ask k and I Rocky what he thinks about that,
because if I'm Knine Rocky, I'm thinking, I think I
think you owe me a lifetime supply of dog treats
and just let me do my thing. Okay, five twenty six,
Time to take a look at your money. Jeff Bellinger's here, and.
Speaker 26 (19:20):
Jimmy, good morning and happy Friday. Weakness among the tex
shares was a drag on the stock market yesterday. The
major averages retreated after Wednesday's rally, but it looks like
we'll have a positive opening this morning now. Futures are
up one hundred and fifty five points. American Express settled
charges related to its sales practices. The company will pay
two hundred and thirty million dollars in penalties. The Justice
(19:42):

cards to small businesses. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business. I'm

Well again, we wish you good morning. It's five thirty
here on Houston's Morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our
top stories. This fur January the twentieth is MLK Junior Day,
It's Inauguration Day, and it's also Mega Independence Day. The
Texas borders are, who's going to go to work for
the Feds? And coming up to five thirty eight, why
State Farm Insurance has canceled It's Super Bowl adds details
(20:34):
in the minutes ahead here in Houston's Morning News. First,
let's check out that morning drive again with Skymite.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
All right, put on your hard hat, Jimmy. We have
to go back to twenty five. This is a westbound
inbound at they're calling it Center Street. I'd said, start
it out. It looked like kind of a run of
the mill accident. Now more law enforcement is there? Something
is up with this wreck now and there's just a
left line getting by on the inbound That means three
right lanes blocked. Here there's something weird about this. I
(21:00):
don't know what's going on. We'll get to the bottom
of that at five point forty and the Generator Supercenter
dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
From our KTRH Generator Supercenter, twenty four hour weather center.
Today mostly content with the high temperature right about sixty eight.
This will be the last warm day we're going to
see for a while, so you may want to go
out and enjoy it. Some snow could be coming up
on Tuesday, at least we should be prepared for that.
Will Doctor Terry Smith about all this in about nine minutes.
Temperature right now currently forty one at your officials Severe

Weather Station News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time
now for the news. Here's Cleff Saunders.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Thank you, Jimmy. It is five point thirty one on KTRH,
and it's looking more and more like next week's Arctic
blast is going to include some white stuff falling from
the sky.
Speaker 28 (21:47):
So now we're looking for consistency in the data, Does
the confidence increase, does the setup make sense? And the
answer for snow is yes, And now we're seeing consistency
with the potential for snow for two days in a row, and.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
As meteorologist Anthony Janna is with our TV partner, Channel
two and with a three day weekend coming up, make
sure to check in with us for updates at the
top of the hour, at the bottom of the hour,
and in between, you can check out online KTRH dot com,
Facebook and x more on what urkot is saying at
six o'clock. Also topping the news, when.
Speaker 29 (22:21):
You look at what happened during this last four year period,
I think it was the lowest point in the history
of our country.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
That is Donald Trump, the president elect on Newsmax this week.
His return to office is being treated like the fourth
of July in January. The second Trump inauguration comes with
much anticipation among conservatives. Writer and commentator doctor Brian Jundef
declares it a new independence day.
Speaker 21 (22:44):
The lawfair of the tyrannical government, the rules and regulation,
suspending the crime, the open borders. This may be the
day that things turn around and start improving and we
get the yoke of oppression and abuse off herbacks.
Speaker 30 (22:57):
He now believes Trump's lost four years ago was a
blessing because it allowed Trump to retake office now in
a much stronger position. Corey Uelsen New's Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
And Biden's popularity may fall even lower after he leaves office.
Speaker 31 (23:11):
If Trump has a good first year, Biden's going to
go down as one of the least favorable presidencies in
American history. People voted for this mandate, so anything that
the current administration does to try to dampen that is
not going to be received favorably.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
Republican polster Mitchell Brown says that voters were turned off
by Biden's policies and they responded. In November, while you slept,
the President commuted the sentences of nearly twenty five hundred
more convicted criminals. He has officially issued more individual pardons
than any other president in American history five point thirty three.
(23:45):
Now and Texas borders are Mike Banks reportedly is the
choice by Donald Trump to be the new chief of
US Border Patrol. Texas Senator John Corny and says this
is a good move.
Speaker 32 (23:55):
I really like the idea that we're going to have
somebody who understands but Texas border. In addition into the
larger US Mexico border.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
Banks will work directly with Trump's incoming borders. Are Tom Homan.
It costs the estate more than eight billion dollars a
year to educate illegal alien children, and as Chris Russo
with Texans for Strong Borders points out, there's even a
law that forces the state to pay. It needs to
be overturned.
Speaker 33 (24:21):
Urging an overturn of that or at the very least
seeking a reimbursement from the federal government, just like Oklahoma's doing.
This is something that the Republican Party the grassroots have
expressed an interest in getting accomplished a session.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
And as we told you, Oklahoma is suing the Biden
administration for four hundred and seventy million dollars reimbursement of
educating these kids. One of the biggest contributors to the
border crisis the NGOs, which have been accused of facilitating
the issue.
Speaker 34 (24:50):
There are probably people making the journey who would not
have made the journey if there was a little more food,
insecurity or a little more uncertainty about where they would stay.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
Todd Bensman with the Center for Immigration Study says that
these NGOs are funded by our own government. In the
UN in Washington, senators have begun to discuss the return
of Remain in Mexico.
Speaker 35 (25:15):
President Biden discarded proven strategies like Remain in Mexico, which
was undeniably successful in deterring illegal entries.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
The results were immediate and disastrous.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul five point thirty five, Looking at
your money, retail sales were slower than expected last month.
They went up by point four percent, less than the
expected point six percent. That set the return of Trump
policies is helping small business optimism skyrocket to a six
year high.
Speaker 36 (25:45):
It's no coincidence that spiked again when Trump won in November.
Speaker 37 (25:49):
I think you're looking at expectations of economic growth, lower inflation,
positive business conditions, anticipation of pro business policies.
Speaker 36 (25:57):
Jeff Burdead of the NFIB says Trump policies are still
having impact. One of the biggest is the Main Street
Act from twenty seventeen, which granted tax cuts.
Speaker 37 (26:06):
We expect that those kind of tax cuts will be
continued for small businesses and that's really leading to a
optimistic outlook going into twenty twenty five.
Speaker 36 (26:15):
He says, they expect a great year to not just
survive but thrive. Andre Ferraard News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
It's now five point thirty six and foreigners are making
their way into your seafood. According to a local TV report,
shrimp recently tested from forty four random restaurants in Galveston
and KEEMA found that nearly sixty percent served imported shrimp.
Speaker 38 (26:39):
It is important that they tell their customers the truth.
Race and shrimp in your backyard, and if it says
backyard trimp, then fine, we know what we're getting.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Sports Talk seven nineties Doug Pike says serving shrimp caught
in the golf is a selling point for many restaurants
and should not be falsely reported or promoted. Louisiana, by
the way, just passed the law requiring restaurants in that
state to be transparent about where their seafood is coming from.
And the Texans visit the Chiefs tomorrow for the divisional
(27:11):
round of the NFL playoffs. Now the Texans lost in
KC back on December twenty first, twenty seven to nineteen.
Speaker 39 (27:19):
Definitely got to go back, and you know, see, you know,
things that worked, things that didn't work, you know, And
I think I definitely helped playing them so recently, but
you know they also had that advantage as well.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Kickoff is at three point thirty. I'm Cliff Saunders on
Houston's News Weather in traffic station News Radio seven forty
k TRH.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
More with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News teams.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
This is Houston's Morning News. Five thirty eight is that
time here in Houston's Borne News. So, State Farm Insurance,
he's got a little bit of a pr problem right now,
especially in California, because they canceled all those policies in
Pacific Palisades, you know, just a couple of months before
the wildfires hit. And I think they realize that. So
they're doing a couple of things. First of all, they're
(28:02):
issuing statements like this one State Farm, state Farm agents
and our employees are all focused on helping customers impacted
by the southern California wildfires in the midst of this
tragedy and blah blah blah, and they're going from there.
They also said we are no longer planning to advertise
during the Super Bowl. One thing you probably noticed about
State Farm Insurance, they run a lot of commercials. I mean,
(28:25):
the Jake from State Farm. Course they're everywhere, and they
were going to run commercials during the Super Bowl. Yeah,
but I think they're smart enough to realize that we
understand how expensive those commercials are. I mean, it's like
seven million dollars for one thirty second commercial. So there's
going to be people, especially in California, you're going to
(28:45):
think if you could afford to spend you know, however
many millions, I don't know how many ads they were
going to run, two, three, four, If you can, if
you can afford spend twenty million dollars on ads for
the super Bowl, you ought to be able to afford
to pay off my claim or to keep me on
your on your insurance list. So I think they realize
they have a pr problem there. They're going to do
something else. They also said for people who have insurance
(29:11):
through them, fire insurance through them, that they will continue
to maintain that insurance. They're not going to lose their coverage. Now,
they didn't guarantee you're not going to pay a whole
lot more for the coverage, but they they're saying they're
not going to lose the coverage five forty time for
traffic and weather. Together's we check it again. A skyline.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
All right, two twenty five hard hats. I'm going to
get to you shortly. Let's go to tip line though,
I've got something northwest two ninety seven one three two
one two tips Jared from Pearland.
Speaker 17 (29:39):
Go in westbound right after sixty ten entrance and there's
quite the hub up here.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Oh here here burbage.
Speaker 17 (29:46):
Got all the traffic stuff in both lanes. Sec. The
ninjas are working on getting something out of the way.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
All right, well said Jared. I thought they cleared that
that fell off the Trends star map, but I do
see the scooch on the outbound look like they've picked
that up as you're speaking. Forty five north. Let's rock
Gerald from Conrad. I'm gonna get to you shortly, but
I've got to twenty five. This is inbound and good news.
It is a major accident, but they're not gonna have
to block the whole thing inbound at two twenty five
(30:14):
and Center Street coming into Deer Park. But there's just
one left line getting by, so that is quite a
smush this way inbound, Gerald, Conrod.
Speaker 40 (30:22):
Hey, this guy Mike all the way from Conrad to
Dreams Point on forty five south. Then I don't see
any kerk, bubbles, smudges or rapt unscheduled disassemblies, disassembly.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
You know what, that's a double banana sticker. Gerald from
Conro listening very closely to us. I'm in the Generator Supercenter,
dot Com Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Roma or Katie Urge Generator super Center twenty four. Our
weather's ender, Terry Smith is here. I think at this
point we need to know what is the name of
the winter storm that's coming in from Monday Tuesday.
Speaker 16 (30:53):
Oh yeah, the name.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
We never cared about that before, but this one we
might care about. The winter storm name.
Speaker 22 (30:58):
Yes, goodness, I know it begins with D.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Gives it D.
Speaker 22 (31:04):
Yeah, let's let's name it ourselves. Off the top of
my head. I haven't been thinking about that.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Isn't that winter storm dump truck?
Speaker 22 (31:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 23 (31:15):
All right, Well it's time to break out the snowplows, folks.
We got ourselves a winter storm next week, and we
knew that was a possibility. Okay, So the easy part
of the forecast is we're dry basically through Monday. We
have a twenty percent chance of a shower. It's the
cold front that's coming on through today, temperatures anywhere from
(31:37):
the mid sixties to near seventy.
Speaker 22 (31:39):
That's the kind of weather I like. Oh, tomorrow's a
sunny day.
Speaker 23 (31:44):
It's a little bit cooler, in the upper fifties to
low sixties. The Arctic air moving in Sunday, so we're
in the mid dupper forties and Monday we're in the
load to mid forties.
Speaker 22 (31:53):
Now the Arctic hare is in.
Speaker 23 (31:55):
Place, we start to see some moisture, an area of
low pressure developing, may see something frozen, perhaps as early
as Monday night, but certainly into Tuesday and Tuesday night.
That seems to be when we're likely to get some
snow and very possibly some accumulating snow. So that's going
to be the UH moving target on this part of
(32:16):
the forecast is when does the snow start and how long?
Speaker 22 (32:19):
How much do we get?
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Okay, by the way, I found the name Demi Demi
like Demi Moore, Yeah, or like Demi Glaze.
Speaker 22 (32:27):
Demi Glaze.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
The roads will be Demi.
Speaker 22 (32:31):
You're looking that up for me.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
You're welcome. Temperature right now is still forty one at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KRH.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
What you need to know for the day ahead.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
This is Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New
South Windows Solutions. Yeah, just about five fifties our time
here in Houston's Morning News. The Lake and Riley Act.
Been a lot of news about the Lake and Riley Act.
What is in it? Is it too harsh on immigrants?
Speaker 3 (32:59):
No, it's not two harsh on immigrants, on illegal immigrants certainly.
What it's all about here is detaining illegal immigrants accused
of crimes in the hopes that it prevents them from
maybe committing either another crime or, in the case of
Lake and Riley, a murder. Because the illegal, at least
one of the illegals involved in her death, the illegal
(33:22):
evolved in her death had been arrested on shoplifting charges
and skipped out on his court date. Well, if they'd
had him in custody, the crime would not have happened.
Senator Josh Hawley wasn't taking any crap from some of
the Democrat witnesses opposed to the Lake and Riley Act.
I'll share some audio with you coming up next. First though,
(33:42):
at five point fifty, traffic and weather together as we
check out the drive once again, here's skuy Min.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
All right, I've double checked with the authorities, and supposedly
two ninety Altbama at the loop. This is a tough
spot to see. Help me out. It's supposed to be
clear according to the official sources. But I'm still seeing
this scoots now coming off the west Loop northbound at
two ninety, So watch out there to twenty five inbound
at Underwood, our inbound at Center Street. I'm looking from Underwood.
(34:09):
That's an accept just a left lane getting by, and
it'll take a little bit. At least they're not going
to shut the whole thing down. If you're coming in
from one forty six, you loose about four minutes in
Skymike on the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic.
Speaker 3 (34:22):

We know that the left is soft on crime. That's
painfully obvious, and they obviously do not like the Lincoln
Rale Act. The vast majority Democrats voted against the Lincoln
Riley Act. They're still trying to make sure it doesn't happen.
So they there was a hearing yesterday. Senator Josh Howley
was there. One of the Democrat witness says, if you will,
(36:01):
called by the Democrats to testify in this was a
guy by the name of Adam Isaac Isaacson. Adam Isaacson,
Director for Defense Oversights at the Warrant Office of Latin America.
Well at the Washington Pardon me, I can't readmoone running
at the Washington Office of Latin America. Whatever the heck
that is. Obviously it's a pro immigration group. Let's take
(36:25):
a listen to this.
Speaker 41 (36:26):
Thank you, mister chairman, thanks for calling this hearing. Mister Isaacson,
if I could just start with you, in March of
twenty twenty four, you wrote the murder of a nursing
student in Georgia. Has a lot of people on the
right talking about migrant crime like it's an actual issue.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Maybe Lincoln Riley you were talking.
Speaker 42 (36:45):
About Lincoln Riley was an unusual case.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Yeah, here, let's have a look. Here's Lake and Riley.
Speaker 41 (36:54):
Yes, her murder, her horrific murder at the hands of
this illegal migrant who was also so unlawfully paroled in
the United States.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Her death not an actual issue. It's a tragedy, but
not an actual issue.
Speaker 42 (37:07):
Migrant crime is much less of an issue than US
citizen community crime.
Speaker 41 (37:10):
Not an actual issue. Those are your words, her death
not an actual issue. I just want to get no.
Speaker 42 (37:15):
You say, of course it's an issue. It's a tragedy.
So what do you mean by your posts?
Speaker 41 (37:19):
It's not an actual issue, meaning we shouldn't be paying
attention to it sent us wasting its time this week.
I'm a lakel and Riley Act that would address the
circumstances of her murder.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
What's your advice to us?
Speaker 41 (37:29):
We just discontinue those proceedings now.
Speaker 42 (37:31):
I think the Lake and Riley Act could do a
lot of harm. It would allow me to say, oh,
this person shoplifted, and that would be enough probable cause
to get somebody to poort.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Interesting you're here. You were who invited you to.
Speaker 42 (37:45):
This committee hearing today, mister Isaacson, the Minority Party.
Speaker 41 (37:49):
Yeah, it's interesting you're here as a spokesman for the
minority Party. I just want to make sure the record's
clear on this. The spokesman for the Minority Party is
advising the Senate that the Lake and Riley Act is
a bad idea and we ought to stop it. The
spokesman for the minority party is saying that Lake and
Riley's death and migrant crime is not an actual issue.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
I can't frankly, I said, believe that. I am hearing
you said it's not an actual issue. I regulate Riley's
death was not.
Speaker 41 (38:17):
You said that my murder nursing student in Georgia has
a lot of people on the right talking about migrant crime.
You put it in quotation marks, were quotes like, it's
an actual issue. She's dead because of migrant crime. Right, Well,
let's try something else here. Do you know who this is?
Do you know who this young man is?
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I do not.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Travis Wolfe, twelve years.
Speaker 41 (38:39):
Old from my state, murdered by an illegal migrant who
was also, like Josey Abara, illegally parolled by the last administration.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
And I'm sure the examples went on and on and
on and on. Yeah, illegal migrant crime is an issue,
no doubt about it. By fifty six here on news

Thank you, Jimmy on KGRH. We are sponsored by Plants

expecting yet another freeze starting on Sunday, lasting for days,
but the grid should be able to handle it.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
The grid as a whole will be very good.
Speaker 8 (41:16):
You know, there might be ice on an old tree

hundred customers lose power.
Speaker 5 (41:23):

of improved winterization and more power generation, it won't be
getting as cold as it did during winter Storm Ury,
but it just won't be a freeze.
Speaker 44 (41:34):
Next week either, tipperatures are expected to be in the
low thirties with a chance of a wintry mix.
Speaker 9 (41:39):
We're going to cool down Sunday, but the really cold

economy is in bad shape. Confirmation hearings continue yesterday, with
Trump Treasury Secretary choice Scott Bessont shutting Bernie Sanders up.
Speaker 14 (43:26):
Do you think that when so few people have so
much wealth and so much economic and political power, that
that is an oligarchic film society?
Speaker 46 (43:34):
Well, I wouldn't note that the President Biden gave the
presidential metal freedom.
Speaker 41 (43:40):
To two people who I think would qualify for his oligarchs.
Speaker 5 (43:44):
And among the hearing scheduled for today include DHS pick

President elect Trump reportedly is considering an extension to find

the Chinese Communist Party.
Speaker 8 (44:34):
I do think the President Trump has taken the right
approach is there some timeframe where we can figure out
is there another owner who can come in and purchase
it so it's not owned the parent company is not
some Chinese company.
Speaker 5 (44:45):
Jim Jordan on Fox TikTok's CEO show, Chow is planning
to attend the inauguration on Monday. A new report says
one out of eight Christians across the world are prosecuted

Speaker 15 (45:00):
It's very real, and a lot of people don't realize
what's going on. To say, you're a Christian and the
vocal and who you love, you have to be prepared
to be persecuted, either's consocial media or your workplace or
wherever you're at.
Speaker 5 (45:12):
And while it's much worse in China and India, he says,
it's on the rise here in America. Six h six,

Speaker 3 (46:40):
Six, so eight our time here on Houston's Born News.
I have a lot of fond memory of field trips,
but we'll get into that. Just sayd this is this
is much more important. There is a school district north
of Dallas, Richardson ISD. Richardson ISD have something. First of all,
this begin with us. They have something they shouldn't have
in their school to begin with, and that is they
(47:02):
have a director, a DEI director, Yes, a DEI director.
They evidently don't care that you're not supposed to you're
supposed to dismantle your DEI programs in our Texas schools.
They don't care about that. And they not only don't
care about it, they're being very vocal about saying things like, well,
(47:24):
you know, every now and again, I think it's perfectly
okay that boys, biological boys can room with girls on
school field trips, you know, the overnight school trips. What
the investigation by Accuracy and Media shows that Richardson ISD
Executive director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Angie Lee Advius,
(47:46):
an undercovered journalist on the district's policy biological boys staying
overnight with girls, would ask whether a gender confused boy
would be able to stay with girls if he were
to travel with the school. Lisa, it's quote a case
by case scenario there. She did reveal, however, that there
have been instances in which a biological boy has stayed
with girls, saying it's a case by case situation. Here's
(48:15):
my question, do the parents know how old are these kids?
Are we talking about eighteen year old seniors, not of
all of whom are, by the way, are eighteen or
is this just the general policy? Of course, they're being
quiet about this. They're not trying to get publicity. They're
driving under the radar. This is happening in North Texas.
(48:40):
They are completely ignoring state law as it regards these
types of procedures. But they're not worried about it. They
could care less. They're not worried about the state busting them.
They're not worried about anybody withholding funds. So until we
decide we're going to police this stuff, this is going
to continue because these people aren't going to give up
(49:01):
six ' ten time for traffic and weather together. I
should get into the field trips later. Do you have
a favorite field trip when you were in school?
Speaker 4 (49:05):
Oh, when we were kids. Okay, so if you grow
up in the Houston area, everybody goes to back when
the battleship was right next to the monument.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
You go to the monument, then you go to.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
The battleship, and you know, you go to the gift
shops and you buy all the stuff.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
And I missed this getting on.
Speaker 4 (49:19):
The Battleship Texas and the sad. If you know, if
you're new to Houston, you have got you. If you
would go to the Alamo in San Antonio, you got
to go to the San Jacento Battlefield. I agree, it's
an amazing story.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
All right.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
I've got something skipping up now in the North Freeway
I forty five outbound. This is going to be right
before Green's Point. Call it west Road. I see the backup.
See that something scooched up here will get you some
laneage at the six twenty report, and I'll bet somebody
calls in and tells me exactly what's going on. I'll
get Transtar on it too. Now, speaking up Transtar is
a very hard job. I run those cameras before. Super Kevin,
(49:55):
who messed up my third wedding cake. Jimmy, he just
got on this and he's got another shot for Kyo
League City.
Speaker 20 (50:01):
Dude, Guy, Mike, Dude, Hey, brother, I just passed right
over a little incident on to ninety. Yes, sir, it
is on to ninety, right before the West thirty fourth exits. Yes,
they do have a bunch of flashing lives over there.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
Brother, all right, that had been a difficulty for all
of us to see. This is on the outbound and
Kevin put that back on the screen now and I
got Mateo League City. Hey, Mike, dude, what you know
about Lyndale?
Speaker 20 (50:25):
But Bill and down come on, dah.
Speaker 4 (50:27):
You know I come from a family of hard deads.
That's why I love y'all so much. We'll check on
that North Freeway at the six twenty Skymike and the
Generator Supercenter dot Com twenty four hour Traffic Center.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
From r KTRH Top Tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather Center.
Time to check in with Terry Smith. How about a
field trip to Miami. That sounds good right about now.
Speaker 22 (50:44):
I'll take it.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
Yeah, I'll take it.
Speaker 23 (50:47):
You know, I don't mind, uh, the cooler weather, but
I don't like the very cold, long stretch of weather
that's on the way.
Speaker 22 (50:56):
That's just my personal complaint.
Speaker 23 (50:59):
Maybe there's some folks are excited about it, but hey,
if you like the warmer weather, today's not looking too bad.
Speaker 25 (51:05):
Now.
Speaker 23 (51:05):
We do have a twenty percent chance of a shower today,
mid sixties to around seventy across southeast Texas. Coldfront swinks
through tonight, so that tomorrow it's not quite as warm.
We're in the upper fifties to low sixties tomorrow, so
not a bad day, but that really cold Arctic care
shows up Sunday, and it's cold Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,
(51:27):
and even into Wednesday. We'll start to warm up a
little bit by midweek next week. Sunday and Monday are dry,
temperatures are in the forties. We start getting some moisture
to head our way with this little developing wave of
low pressure. So that Monday night, Tuesday and Tuesday night
that's the time period when we may get some wintry weather.
(51:50):
And the chances are looking good that we will get
some wintry weather. The question is is it snow or
freezing rain or sleet and just how much and that
we can't.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
Say just yet. Yep, but you're right down forty two
at your officials severe weather. Station News Radio seven forty
ktrh use traffic and Weather.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
You're starting your day right with Houston's Morning News, brought
to you Biden New South Windows Solutions.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
So the International Christian Concern does an annual report on
Christians being persecuted because of their faith worldwide. They found
that one out of eight Christians in the entire world
are persecuted. Now expect stories out of places like China
when it comes to this, but unfortunately, some of these
persecutions are happening right here in the United States. We'll
(52:39):
talk to Dave Welch about that. He's president of the
Texas Pastor Council. We'll talk to him next. First, we've
got traffic and weather together, starting stormers, guy Mike, all.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Right, we got two twenty five that inbound wreck at
Center Street two naughty as smush at thirty four that
we can't deveilf that's a record police activity. And I've
got the original Andrew from Spring on forty five Norris.
Speaker 17 (52:59):
I might north Mound to forty nine watch Mount Houston.
There is a car that is smashed in between two
eighteen wheeler trailers. This has caused a massive backup all
the way south as far as the ice of.
Speaker 34 (53:12):
Seat, it's going to be taking out three lanes across
forty five.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
All right, that's outbound, not inbound. Let me tell the
rest of the media. Skymike going to generate your supercenter

R KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour weather center.
Mostly cloud. It looks like sixty eight today, sunny, cooler
sixty tomorrow, sunny and colder, forty six for the high
end Sunday down to twenty eighth Sunday night. And then
again it's the Monday night, Tuesday morning, Tuesday during the
day that we're worried about whether or not we're going
to get some snow and how much we're going to get.
(53:43):
Jury's still out on that, I guess right now forty
two at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven
forty KTRH. Let's get you caught up on some of
our top stories this morning. Here's Cliff, Thank.
Speaker 5 (53:55):
You, Jimmy. We are brought to you by Morrow Mechanical.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
Today News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (54:33):
Well, there's some places or where you can't choose to
be a Christian, at least if you don't want to
be persecuted. As they said, one out of eight Christians
worldwide are being persecuted at the moment. Johnny has to
talk about it. Dave Welch, the president of the Texas
Pastor Council. Dave always good to talk to you, sir,
and to get your insight in all this. We're used
to Christians being persecuted in places like China, the old
(54:55):
Soviet Union, places like that, but we all also know
that they're being persecuted in places you wouldn't think they're
being persecuted, including in some cases right here in the
United States. Your thoughts, we have them.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
Thank you for having me on.
Speaker 46 (55:14):
Jimmy sorry, this again, this issue. We were reminded by
Jesus back, you know, in his time he said in
John five twenty, if slave is not greater than his master,
if they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. And
of course that has been a pattern of history. But
you're right, and this has been coming up. The estimates.
Actually Open Door International puts the numbers even closer to
(55:36):
three hundred and eighty million, or one out of seven.
And in places like India, for example, which has been
an escalation of hostility, church burnings, anti conversion laws. Of course,
you know, we expect it in much of the Middle
East places of life in the radical Islamic states, but
(55:57):
in subsidence are in Africa also places where it's really
been an increase in the violence against Christians and churches.
But you know, you're right in this country and this
is part of what we need to be concerned about.
This has taken the form of things like accusing believers
of strong faith who believed that we should have a
role in the arena of government as Christian nationalists, you know,
(56:20):
as a pejorative, you know, attempting to paint them as
extremists and marginalize them. So that's something we've been seeing
happen here as well.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Yeah, I think the wrathical Islamic countries I find some
irony in their position on Christians as well, because we have,
in fact, we have Muslims serving in the United States
government who are absurdly in favor of persecuting Jewish people.
Don't have any respect for the Christian religion, but they
want us to have complete respect in the Muslim religion.
(56:51):
It's a two way street.
Speaker 46 (56:52):
Right, Well, it's absolutely true. In fact, the leaders of
the one of the major Islamic organizations here in this
country this has openly admitted that Muslims themselves have more
freedom to practice their faith in this country than they
do in any Muslim country for that very thing. And
(57:13):
the question is why, And this is part of our
challenge even to the church today, is that you know,
the blessings we have enjoyed for centuries now of that
kind of freedom that we have of belief and practice
is grounded in ultimately the belief in Jesus on teachings
and Christian heritage that religion is not to be forced.
(57:36):
Faith is not to be forced, it's to be received
and accepted voluntarily, and so yes, the Church has abused
that at times over the centuries. There are examples of it.
You have to go back those of the attack and
criticize Christianity usually have to go back to the Middle
Ages to find that type of persecution.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Yeah, everybody that they always want in that part of
the world. I always want to bring up the Crusades.
All right, let's exactly. Let me quickly ask you though
about you know, what's going on with the left in
particular in this country. It's always been my opinion. I
don't mean to put you on the spot here, but
it's always been my opinion that one of the reasons
why the progressive left has a big problem with religion
is because it's a control issue for them. It's pretty
(58:21):
tough to convince people to worship government if they're worshiping
God in Jesus.
Speaker 46 (58:29):
Well, you know, that's a great point, Jimmy. And the
fact one of the things it's kind of lost to
histories that the real reason the first century Christians were
persecuted was not for preferred believing in Jesus, is because
they refused to believe in Caesar as equal to Jesus
and as God. And so those who really worship the state,
most who believe frankly that the state is the ultimate authority,
(58:51):
and also that there are no absolute moral values in beliefs,
and that the beliefs like the Biblical Christianity in Judaism
who do are threats to those who don't want those
kind of boundaries. And that's what Murray brings about, that
kind of hostility. So the most important thing we can
do is just practice and live that kind of faith
(59:12):
with diligence, be the light and be the example of
what Jesus called us to be. But do it boldly.
You know, I haven't one of my own ancestors in
the fifteenth hundreds in Scotland who was vanished from Scotland
to England and then have actually banished to France by
the King of England for preaching the Protestant Gospel against
(59:34):
the Catholic Church, are preaching that the Pope wasn't the
ultimate authority, you know. So this isn't new. But we
have to just stand and believe and practice our faith, all.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Right, sir, Thanks as always appreciated. Dave Welch, President of
the Texas Pastor Council. It's six twenty seven. Time to
take a look at your money. Here's Jeff Bellinger and.
Speaker 26 (59:52):
Jimmy It now appears TikTok will be around at least
a while longer, even if the Supreme Court upholds the
band scheduled to take effect Sunday. The timing of the
band works in TikTok's favor. It comes on a holiday weekend,
just ahead of Inauguration Day, and Donald Trump has said
he will allow more time for the apps Chinese parent

Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
All right, I told the pretty ladies on TV about
the wreck on the North Freeway that's outbound. Are they
calling that west road? Yeah? Northbound two eighteen wheelers. This
is nothing good. Got a new wreck reported Little York inbound.
It's terrible between the Belt and the Loop. I got
Mike from Magnolia on the tip line.
Speaker 27 (01:01:16):
Mike, mbound at Jones Road has a lot of red
and blue flashy lights.
Speaker 16 (01:01:23):

Houston could get snow. The forecast, though, remains up in

Also topping the news, Donald Trump is three days away
from being sworn in for a second term as president.
(01:02:53):
Writer and commentator doctor Brian Jundev says, in hindsight, the
twenty twenty election was a blessing in disguise.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
I think that was necessary.
Speaker 21 (01:03:03):
Otherwise this would be the last few days of Trump's
second term, and I don't think it would have been
a whole lot better different than his first term because
he wouldn't have had that break and a chance to regroup.
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
June Jeff says Monday is a new independence Day from
the Biden policies of the last four years, and don't
forget Klay, Travis and Buck Sexton will broadcast live from
the inauguration on Monday right here on KTRH. As Joe
Biden leaves DC, Democrats are blaming bad messaging for his failures.
Speaker 44 (01:03:35):
They say it wasn't the bad Biden policies that set
the country back.
Speaker 33 (01:03:39):
We had to endure people in a Democratic party telling
us that Joe Biden was sharp as attack. This guy
was not mentally capably president from day one.
Speaker 44 (01:03:47):
Political analyst Jake Novak says, now the Democrat Party needs
a massive revamp.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
They actually have to have a charismatic and god forbid,
maybe even an accomplished person to be their candidate.
Speaker 17 (01:03:57):
You know, our candidates, and.
Speaker 44 (01:03:58):
One poll, fifty four of Americans say they will remember
Biden as a below average or poor president. Jar Lewis

bad policies on display. Overnight, Biden commuted the sentences of
nearly twenty five hundred more convicted criminals. No American president
has issued more individual pardons than Joe Biden six point

the Texas playbook at the border state borders are. Mike
Banks is reportedly going to head up border patrol.
Speaker 32 (01:04:29):
I know Mike, and I think it's an inspired choice.
Speaker 5 (01:04:33):
Texas Senator John Cornyan Banks will report directly to Tom Homan. Now,
we told you yesterday that Oklahoma was suing the White
House for the four hundred and seventy million dollars they
spent to educate thousands of illegal alien kids, leading to
questions about what Texas should do.
Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
The big question now is should Texas do the same.
Speaker 33 (01:04:54):
I think it's a great idea. I actually think it's
worth the state pursuing a shaller That.
Speaker 14 (01:05:00):
Is Chris Russo, president of the Texans for Strong Borders. Unfortunately,
by law, Texas is required to foot the bill.
Speaker 33 (01:05:09):
Because of that pler versus docate from nineteen eighty two,

Speaker 5 (01:05:26):
Thank you, Jeff, New York Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenny files
a bill to move federal money from IRS enforcement to
border security, specifically hiring more border patrol agents, but other
obstacles remain, like the NGOs that have been helping to
fund and provide for illegal aliens.
Speaker 7 (01:05:44):
These NGOs have been incentivizing illegal immigration with your tax dollars.
Speaker 34 (01:05:48):
Most of the money flows through the United Nations, but
a lot of it comes directly from the US State Department.
Speaker 7 (01:05:56):
Todd Bensman with the Center for Immigration Study says that
the Republican Congress is already getting to work on this.
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
There are bills that.
Speaker 34 (01:06:03):
Have been pitched and will be pitched again to defund
the UN if it uses taxpayer money in this way.
Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
He says that cutting off the funding to these groups
would go a long way towards slowing down the flow
of the legal aliens. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
It is now six thirty six. The White House claims
the economy is strong, but retail sales for December came
up short of expectations on the heels of another bad
inflation report this week. Despite this, small business optimism is
that a six year high. Jeff Burdett of the National
Federation of Independent Business as expectations of growth under Trump
(01:06:40):
are driving this.
Speaker 37 (01:06:41):
We really do expect small businesses to be able to
not only survive, but thrive, and that's something we haven't
been able to say, unfortunately over the last three or
four years. And I think that that really shows a
sentiment of what we expect and what we expect here
at NFIB.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
He says, Trump possibly extending his tax cuts from twenty
seventeen is the biggest factor at six thirty seven. If
you head out this weekend and before you order that
next all you can eat seafood platter, ask where it
comes from. A local TV report revealed that sixty percent
of the Galveston and Chema restaurants they surveyed sold trimp,
(01:07:17):
not from Galveston Bay.
Speaker 38 (01:07:19):
If you're selling domestic trimp, trimp caught right out of
the Gulf of Mexico. I think that is that's a
selling point and the people who are doing it that
way should get.
Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
Some credit for that.
Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
Sports Talk seven nineties Doug Pike. By the way, Louisiana
just passed a law requiring restaurants to be transparent about

Houston's morning news continues with Jimmy Barrett.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Well, Joe Biden made an all time record for setting
people free. He's committing the sentences of more than two
thousand people convicted of non violent were told drug offenses,
cementing his legacy as Yes, he's number one at this.
He's the number one person at letting criminals go free.
Number one president of all time. He has issued the
(01:08:20):
most individual pardons and commutations in United States history. All Right,
here's the excuse, if you will, for why he did
this last action. Today's not that he wrote this today's
clemency action provides belief for individuals who received lengthy sentences
based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine. Oh,
(01:08:42):
I see, So they didn't they punish people more for
crack than cocaine or the other way around. I'm not sure.
But anyway, they got sentenced too much because they had
crack instead of cocaine, or cocaine instead of crack in reality.
Is that what he's saying, I guess saying that. They
(01:09:04):
went on to say, this is an give these individuals
the opportunity to return to the families and communities after
spending far to busch time behind bars. With this action,
I've now issued more individual partons and commutations than any
president in US history. So he's very proud of this.
Well yeah, I mean look at his family history. Yeah,
starting with the sun. Yeah, shouldn't be punised for crime
(01:09:27):
in this country. Take forty time for traffic and weather. Together,
we're checking out the drive again, sky Mike, you've been
busy this well, it's crazy already.
Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
Jimmy, put your hard hat back on. Let's hit too

a record Center Street. This is inbound. Apparently a smaller
vehicle ran into a back of a truck and that
is taking up all but the left lane. This is inbound.

we were the first to know about this wreck. Original

This is looking pretty ugly. It's outbound North Freeway and
there's a big backup from Sheppard. Also reports of erect

had that stall Westpark Tollway. Cook clear that and we've
(01:10:17):
had a bit of discussion about two ninety. This one's
been a real tough one to see. Two ninety round

the snow. Very nice.
Speaker 22 (01:11:33):
I'm just you have a backup shovel for yourself.
Speaker 10 (01:11:36):
I do not.
Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
I just do it if I get If I make
enough money, then I will just buy myself a snowplow
or something.
Speaker 22 (01:11:45):
Have you heard about naming snowplows?
Speaker 3 (01:11:47):
By the way, I saw that snowplow picture you sent
me yesterday. Yes, in the South, you have to get creative,
don't you when it comes time to no snow.
Speaker 22 (01:11:55):
Yes, you do.
Speaker 23 (01:11:56):
But I have to tell you there are places that
name their snowplows, and one of them's call plow a bunga.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
That's good.
Speaker 14 (01:12:02):
I like it.
Speaker 23 (01:12:03):
Oh, I love these snowplow names. Okay, so we are
dry through Monday, folks, no need to panic. Well, actually
not today. Today we have a twenty percent chance at
the shower. Most of us won't see the rain.
Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
It's a nice, warm day.
Speaker 23 (01:12:16):
I wish we had more of these mid sixties to

Speaker 22 (01:12:20):
Col front moves in tonight.
Speaker 23 (01:12:21):
The cold air starts to make its way over the weekend,
so that tomorrow we're close to sixty in the afternoon.
Sunday we're in the mid upper forties, Monday in the
low to mid fortieses or high temperatures, and then a
developing storm is expected to start to bring us some
wintry weather Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night. That's the timeframe.
(01:12:43):
I don't know that it's going to last that whole
entire time, but somewhere within that timeframe, mainly snow, maybe
some sleep, freezing rain.
Speaker 31 (01:12:51):
Rain.
Speaker 23 (01:12:51):
As we get closer, we'll nail it down, but it

Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Maybe that's maybe that's Mazie Hormo's problem. Maybe she maybe
she is. Maybe she's been to too many don Hoe
shows and drank too many tiny bubbles, killed too many
brain cells. She's a weird chick. She really is, and
she she she has been questioning some of these Trump nominees,
and of course she's a staunch liberal progressive, so she is,
you know, taking the negative road every opportunity she has.
(01:16:08):
She reads everything off of a card. I don't think
she even came up with the questions herself, but she
asked the same two questions of every nominee that she
that she interviews, regardless of the position and regardless of
the track record. So we start with that with Mazie Arono.
She interviews Energy Secretary nominee Chris Wright.
Speaker 12 (01:16:29):
Part of my responsibilities as a member of this as
well as all my other committees, I asked the following
two initial questions to ascertain the fitness of the nominee.
Speaker 11 (01:16:38):
For the job.
Speaker 12 (01:16:39):
So I ask you, since you became a legal adult,
have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or
committed any verbal or physical harassment or.
Speaker 11 (01:16:49):
Assault of a sexual nature?
Speaker 25 (01:16:51):
I have not.
Speaker 12 (01:16:52):
Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement
relating to this kind of conduct, I have not, say.
The Washington Post reported that any twenty twenty four, Donald
Trump told a group of about twenty four oil executives
at mar Lago that they should raise one billion dollars
for his campaign, which would be a deal given his
commitment to reversing environmental regulations, expanding oil and gas leasing
(01:17:16):
on federal land, and approval of natural gas exports.
Speaker 11 (01:17:20):
Did you attend that meeting at mar Largo?
Speaker 48 (01:17:24):
I was at a dinner with President Trump and Marlago
in April. Quite a bit different than what you just described,
but yes, I was at a dinner.
Speaker 12 (01:17:34):
Well, it was reported that he talked about a one
billion dollars Do you think that it was appropriate for
the president to even put forth the possibility of such
a deal?
Speaker 48 (01:17:46):
I was at the dinner, and the President put forward
no such deal.
Speaker 11 (01:17:51):
That's how it was reported.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
That How what was reported reported by who? You idiot,
reported by who? And by the way that first question,
I mean the way she warded it. I mean, technically speaking,
any man who's ever attempted to get busy with a
woman and was told no, has had a sexual advance rejected.
(01:18:14):
Wouldn't we all at some point have to say yes
to that question? Seems that's why I would love that
he would have said yes, just to hear her follow
up question. All right, time for the timeline. We have

They are doing some kind of reshift of the lanes
outbound that west road. You knew about this wreck first.
There's two eighteen wheelers involved. There's a lot to do.
They're letting some people through. It sure does look like
they're trying to close the whole thing down. This is
outbound Nord Freeway West Road, not inbound, and this is
a good time to jump on the hardy big shots

will it hold up again?
Speaker 7 (01:21:43):
This might be Urkott's biggest test since Winter Storm URI
in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 8 (01:21:47):
I would not be surprised if we set a record
for maximum winter load. Urcott is actually forecasting that on
January twenty first.
Speaker 7 (01:21:56):
The good news is Tom Overbee with Texas A and
M says that we should be able to handle the
increased demand.
Speaker 8 (01:22:01):

to return hostages for prisoners held by the Jewish States.
Speaker 13 (01:24:40):
The only thing that sort of broke the logjam was
when Donald Trump clearly stated, if these hostages aren't released
by the time I'm in office, they'll have all hell
to pay. People take him seriously, and they should.
Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
You're at home rather, that's incoming. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee

This is Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett. So maybe
maybe that's what these Pairland teams are up to you,
right they I just want to I just want to
play in the costume. I've always wanted to be Bucky Beaver, always, always, always.
Three suspects wanted in Pairland for stealing a Bucky the
Beaver mascot costume at the BUCkies there. It is worth
(01:27:57):
approximately two thousand dollars. You've seen them before. Maybe they
wanted it as a souvenir. Maybe one of them fancies
himself as being Bucky Beaver. I don't know. Happened on
January the first. Why were we just not hearing about this?
Happened on January the first? They have released. Here's the
bad news for the teens. Well, first of all, I'm
(01:28:18):
not sure how old they are. They look anywhere between
fourteen sixteen, somewhere in there, between fourteen and sixteen years old,
somewhere in that range, so you know they're juveniles. The
chances are they're not going to end up paying much
of a penalty, although I do have a solution for
that too. But they have, you know, high definition pictures
of the three, so they know exactly who they're looking for,
(01:28:42):
and it shouldn't be hard for somebody to identify these kids.
Now you're a parent, right, you see the pictures of
the teens wanted for stealing the Bucky the Beever mascot costume,
You say, holy crap, that's my kid.
Speaker 16 (01:28:58):
What do you do?
Speaker 3 (01:28:59):
Do you turn them in? They stole something, They stole something.
It's a crime. You turn them in, or do you
at the very least make them produce the costume and
take it back and apologize and then take whatever punishment
they have coming, you know, stealing property of that value
(01:29:20):
anywhere from seven hundred and fifty to twenty five hundred
bucks in Texas is a Class B misdemeanor, which can
call for a fine not exceeding four thousand dollars in
up to a year in jail. Yep, However, I doubt
if that's likely to happen to these kids. Maybe a
more creative punishment, though, have them do I don't know,
(01:29:43):
pay them ten bucks an hour or give them credit
for ten bucks an hour and let them spend about
two hundred community service hours cleaning the restrooms at the
BUCkies in Pairland until it's up to Buckies' standards, which
are very very high, seven to ten for traffic and
weather together. See Mike is here. What's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
That's a lot of bathroom cleaning, all right. First of all, Terry,
look at that sunrise. I'm getting pictures on my Facebook.
Look at that. I just tagged you off my social
media pages. Here two twenty five inbound. We've cleared the
main ruck wreck that had a truck on the inbound
at Center Street. It's out of the way. I don't
know why the backup's not bigger. We had just one
linget by now right behind it. There's a stall at title,
(01:30:26):
so he's stuck. Lookout as you're coming in from one
forty six. Did they really clear both those eighteen wheelers?
Holy wow, super ninjas rocking it this morning. North Freeway
outbound West Road. They have cleared it. If you're playing
the home game, you can see it for yourself on
camera to twenty five. There's a lot of suckings though,
coming up from the Loop to the Beltway. This is outbound,
(01:30:47):
not inbound. Also, we finally cleared that eighteen wheeler thing
that was on two ninety outbound past six ' ten.
That's out of the way inbound. Mike from Magnolia with
the banana sticker for a wreck at the Beltway, but
that was on the feeder. It was just causing some
distractions on the inbound side. Let me see if I've
got a wild card line talk to me.
Speaker 8 (01:31:06):
Thanks Mike, go everybody to stay home next week.

just the way we like. The mid sixties to around seventy.
Col front moves through tonight. We start to get a
little bit cooler tomorrow, temperatures upper fifties to low sixties.
Sunday that's when the Arctic air begins to make its
(01:32:09):
appearance mid to upper forties. Monday in the load to
mid forties, and then a developing area of low pressure
is expected to bring us some snow, perhaps some freezing
rain and sleet even rain. Right now, anything's on the table,
but it looks to be mainly still, it looks like
we have enough cold air in place that it'll be

and Tuesday. And that is Demi. Demi is the next
winter named winter storm, and it's going to impact Texas.
It's going to plunge us into the deep freeze. Well,
not like it did a couple of years ago. But
I don't want to mislead you. It's not going to
be that super super cold, but it's going to be
(01:33:23):
well below freezing in most spots here in Southeast Texas.
And it is also maybe bringing with it snow one
to three inches, three to five inches. We're not really
sure right now. What does that do to the grid center?
Point says, everything's fine, they're ready, they're prepared. We'll talk
to Tommy Overbee about that. He's director of the Texas

It's going to be weather suckage too.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
All right, outbound, this just dropped East Text Freeway outbound,
not inbound at the Beltway, it's erect two left lings.
It is a major You won't even have backups just yet.
But after Lee Road get ready outbound inbound, I don't
think you can even see it. So it's no reverernecking.

Speaker 8 (01:36:14):
Yes, I would agree a Center Point. I think the
grid is going to be fine. We've added more generation
since twenty twenty one, and as you noted, it's not
going to be as cold as it was.
Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
In twenty twenty one. Well, the other thing that that
comes to mind, though, this is where I guess the
jury's out. We really don't know for sure what this
weather event's going to bring to us. We think it's
going to be snow, but there's probably going to be
some freezing rain and drizzle mixed in with that, and
that can impact the power lines.
Speaker 8 (01:36:46):
Right when you get freezing rain, it can certainly impact
the power lines. Most of that will tend to be
at the lower voltage line, so there might be some
local outages depending on where we get freezing rain, but
I don't expect anything major for the grid as a whole.
Speaker 3 (01:37:05):
What do you make of the efforts that certainly Centrepoint
got Jessie severely a couple of years ago, people were
rightfully upset with the fact that there hadn't been the
proper maintenance and winterization done. Have they taken the necessary
steps down? Do you think to basically win arise the
grid so that even if we ended up with another
freeze like we had two years ago, be able to
withstand that.
Speaker 10 (01:37:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:37:28):
I think the electric utility in this year in Texas
has done a good job of making sure that the
grid is winter rise at least down to a Yurie
type of event. So I think we are good from
that point of view. So yes, I think we've made
good progress. And you know, in twenty twenty one. We
just weren't adequately prepared and we lost a lot of generation.
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
And that was the problem.
Speaker 8 (01:37:50):
I don't expect that would occur if we had temperatures
like we had in Uri. Of course, this coming week
is going to be cold, but not nearly that cold.
Speaker 3 (01:38:00):
As long as those wind turbines don't freeze, I guess
we'll be okay. Here's what I also wonder, Tom, And
I don't know if you folks have done any studies
on this. I guess as you probably have, but there's
been a lot. There's always talk after major storms and
down power lines about bearing the power lines, bearing the
electric lines, they have to come up somewhere. But if
we did more as far as bearing the existing lines,
(01:38:21):
we'd have fewer these outages. Is the reason why we
don't do it. Is it just too dog gone.
Speaker 8 (01:38:27):
Costs prohibitive, right, It's very costly to bury electric lines.
Speaker 21 (01:38:34):
Now.
Speaker 8 (01:38:34):
Of course, a lot of the electric grid is buried.
We divide the grid into the high voltage transmission and
the lower voltage distribution, and about half the distribution is
already buried. It's just very inexpensive. It's very expensive to
bury distribution lines in existing neighborhoods because there's so much
other stuff and you have to tear up roads and
(01:38:56):
things like that. So the newer subdivisions tend to get
underground distribution lines at the higher voltage transmission we can,
but it gets hard to transfer power long distances in
a buried line.
Speaker 3 (01:39:12):
Got you, And of course at a city as big
as Houston, deal with all the buildings in the downtown
area that it's virtually impossible to vary those lines. Tom,
thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. Tom Overbe, director
of the Texas A and M Smart Grid Center. At

Speaker 26 (01:39:28):
A new report is fueling debate over whether calorie labels
are worth keeping. Researchers looked at twenty five studies from
the US, the UK, France, and other nations. They found
that posting calorie information and supermarkets and restaurants has just
a minimal impact on consumers food choices. Having the dietary
information available resulted in an average calorie reduction of less
(01:39:51):
than two percent. One review says that's equivalent to removing
two almonds from a six hundred calorie meal. Stock market
futures look really good.

Speaker 31 (01:43:39):
If Trump has a good first year, Biden's going to
go down as one of the least favorable presidencies in
American history. People voted for this mandate, so anything that
the current administration does to try to dampen that is
not going to be received favorably.
Speaker 5 (01:43:52):

Mike Banks reportedly has been chosen by Donald Trump to
(01:44:14):
head up border patrol. Texas Senator John Cornyn thinks this
is a very good idea.
Speaker 32 (01:44:18):
I really like the idea that we're going to have
somebody who understands that Texas border, in addition to the
larger US Mexico border.
Speaker 5 (01:44:25):
Banks will work directly with Trump's incoming borders. Our Tom Homan,
did you know that it cost Texas more than eight
billion dollars a year to educate illegal alien children. Well,
it's Chris Russo with Texans for Strong Border, says there's
even a law that forces the state to pay, and
it needs to be overturned.
Speaker 33 (01:44:43):
Urging an overturn of that or at the very least
seeking a reimbursement from the federal government, just like Oklahoma's doing.
This is something that the Republican Party the grassroots have
expressed an interest in getting accomplished a session.
Speaker 5 (01:44:56):
The state of Oklahoma is suing Biden for four hundred
and seventy million to get reimbursed for educating illegal alien children. Now,
one of the biggest contributors to the border crisis has
been the NGOs, which have been accused of facilitating the crisis.
Speaker 34 (01:45:12):
There are probably people making the journey who would not
have made the journey if there was a little more food, insecurity,
or a little more uncertainty about where they would stay.
Speaker 5 (01:45:23):
Todd Benzman with the Center for Immigration Studies says these
NGOs are funded not only by our own government, but
by the UN. And in Washington, senators have begun to
discuss the return of one of Trump's key programs, Remain
in Mexico.
Speaker 35 (01:45:38):
President Biden discarded proven strategies like Remain in Mexico, which
was undeniably successful in deterring illegal entries. The results were
immediate and disastrous.

It's no coincidence that's spiked again when Trump won in November.

I think you're looking at expectations of economic growth, lower inflation,
positive business conditions, anticipation of pro business policies.
Speaker 36 (01:46:19):
Jeff Burdett of the nfib says Trump's policies are still
having impact. One of the biggest is the Main Street
Act from twenty seventeen, which granted tax cuts.
Speaker 4 (01:46:28):
We expect that those kind of tax cuts.
Speaker 37 (01:46:30):

You know, Elizabeth and I have done you some volunteer
work with the spring Fire Department. We love those guys
and gals. There's men and women who work at Spring
Fire Department. They do a fantastic job. But one thing
I've noted about the fire departments here is that they
(01:48:14):
don't dumb things down for the women. If you want
to if you want to be a firefighter, you have
to be able to carry a certain level of weight.
You have to be able to do the things that
the guys do. I mean, we're talking about public safety here,
so when you hear the deputy director, the deputy chief
and director of the Los Angeles Fire Departments DEI program
(01:48:39):
may her excuses for why that shouldn't have to be

question it, and Greg Guttfeld did, if you get.

In a resurface promo video from September twenty nineteen for
The Big Fox Show nine to one point one, Larson
(01:49:13):
discussed the ideas that firefighters should reflect the communities they serve,
look like them, and that female firefighters shouldn't have to
rescue a man from a burning building.
Speaker 49 (01:49:23):
You want to see somebody that responds to your house
for emergency, whether it's a medical call or a fire call,
that looks like you. It gives that person a little
bit more ease knowing that somebody might understand their situation
better because she's strong.
Speaker 8 (01:49:36):
Enough to do this.
Speaker 49 (01:49:37):
Or you couldn't carry my husband out of a fire
in which my response is he got himself in the
wrong place if I have to carry him out of.
Speaker 50 (01:49:43):
A fire, got himself in the wrong place. Now, maybe
it's me, but every place is kind of the wrong
place when it's on fire. That's why we have fireman.
But at this chick where a life goes, she bright
men for not drowning on the sand.
Speaker 3 (01:50:04):
Yeah, probably, so yeah, how can we come on? That
is really just amazing that somebody would have that attitude that, hey,
if you're too big for me to carry, that's your fault.
That's what you get for being in a fire. Isn't
that what you basically said seven forty times for traffic
(01:50:25):
and weather together. I don't care what gender you are.
Just haul my big fat butt out of the house
if it's on fire, right sky Mike.
Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
Please get us out of there. It's the one thing
that would tempt me right now if we had a
fire here is it would be warm and I would
be standing next to it here in our building. But
let's don't talk that way. Let's talk west loops six
' ten had to wreck at west termers this outbound
or inbound, it's causing a spackle both ways. Northbound, we're
backed up from bel Air southbound. That's solid from two
ninety nineteen extra minutes trying to get down this way
(01:50:55):
east text the elevated. Here comes the backup. You're crammed
up from equipment. If you're trying to get down to
the Med Center Terry or the zoo of the Fan
and exit, that's twenty one extra minutes on the southbound
the Pierce salivated. It's all smushed up from the ferris
wheel down to the Dallas Street squeeze. Speaking of squeeze,
look at my Twitter, Jimmy, this is what Katie Freeway
(01:51:16):
outbound that roadwork. I put that on Twitter and Facebook
so you can see what you're up against if you
haven't been there yet. The big thing is they've taken
out two right lanes outbound from downtown. And also that's
a major suicide squeeze on forty five forty five where
it comes into it outbound north loop. We cleared the
eighteen wheelers, we still have the smush north from Gallery
(01:51:36):
back up to West Mount Houston. Banana stickers Kyo from
Leake City, Original Andrew from Spring, Robert from Crosby Venting
for all of us in Terry. You know, there's a
lot of new people in Houston. We have to tell
them about our seasons. We have nine months of eyeball
melting heat, twelve minutes of fall, eight weeks of monsoons,
and this is I'll clean this up for radio winter

Oh my goodness, indeed, ugh, what a mess she's gonna
make so nice and quiet until Tuesday. Well maybe Monday night,
Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night.
Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
That's the big question.
Speaker 21 (01:52:29):
Mark.
Speaker 23 (01:52:30):
Let's get through the next couple of days and then
talk about winter. We have a twenty percent chance of
a shower today mid sixties to around seventy. Tomorrow cooler
close to sixty Sunday, lots of sunshine only in the
mid dupper forties, and Monday load to mid forties. So
the cold air setting the stage. When this next area
(01:52:52):
of low pressure develops, it likely will bring us snow,
perhaps as early as Monday night into Tuesday, perhaps into
Tuesday night as well. The length in the time period
of the snow is up in question, but I do
expect we'll get some snow. There could be some sleep,
freezing rain, even rain mixing in at times, but it
looks like we've got enough cold air that it will
(01:53:14):
mainly be snow. We'll keep you posted, but just be
ready for this shortest season of all the winter snow
season in Houston.

Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
Seven to fifty. So time here on Houston's Morning News.
Oklahoma is being very aggressive with the Biden administration. They
are suing their attorney general is suing over the damage
illegal immigration is done to their public school system. What
if all the Red States did the same thing? Might
that make a little bit of a difference. I mean
(01:53:58):
it might, It might be waste to do it now.
The Trump administration is coming in, but it sends a
pretty loud message if you do. Chris Russo, president of
Texans for Strong Borders, will talk to us about that
coming up next. But first traffic and weather together as
we check out the drive once again to Skymine.
Speaker 4 (01:54:13):
Got a wreck on the West Park inbound at Cook Road,

We cleared the wreck on the West Loops southbound at

Speaker 1 (01:55:31):
Something new each two day in the new year. Use
radio seven forty KGRH.
Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
All right, Oklahoma has had enough, you know. Their attorney
general says that it's cost them four hundred and seventy
million dollars to educate tens of thousands of illegal immigrant
children in their state. So they'd like the money back
from the federal government. Joining us talk about Chris Russo,
president of Texans for Strong Borders. Does the Trump administration
come in kind of make this a moot point though
(01:55:58):
at this point, you.
Speaker 33 (01:56:01):
Know, not really. I think that the reality is that
the costs of educating illegal illegal aliens in our public
schools is sort of baked in where According to one
study by the Hauffein's Liberty Foundation, the state of Texas alone,
and this is using numbers that predate the Biden Board
and the Biden Border Crisis, spent about six billion dollars
(01:56:26):
per year to educate illegal aliens.
Speaker 3 (01:56:30):
Why have here in Texas? And this is true, I
think probably in all states, if we're going to be
honest about this, But I know my way works for
a public school system. They are not allowed to ask
what the immigration status is of anybody who is registering
to go to school at their school. I'm assuming this
is pervasive statewide. And if so, why was that rule
put into effect, the.
Speaker 33 (01:56:55):
Rule to not collect information on immigration status?
Speaker 3 (01:56:58):
Yeah, they're not They're not even allowed to ask what
the immigration status is of the student who is in rolling.
Speaker 33 (01:57:06):
Well, I don't know the exact history of that rule,
but I do know that that's something that folks are
trying to change. The State of Texas is obligated by
the Supreme Court. Actually, Supreme Court President Choir versus Doe
in nineteen eighty two overturned to Texas law, where the
State of Texas was trying to outlaw public funds from
(01:57:30):
being used for the education of legal aliens.
Speaker 3 (01:57:33):
Okay, So the Supreme Court has already spoken out on
this many years to many years ago. I wonder if
this current Supreme Court would rule the same way though.
Speaker 33 (01:57:44):
Well, I think that there is a strong possibility for
an overturn, and so do a lot of other folks
in the Texas legislature. Actually, there are several bills that
have been filed recently. Last session twenty twenty three, Drew Springer,
a now retired state Senator from North Texas, filed a
(01:58:07):
bill asking or that would have the State of Texas,
as a condition for admitting its student to public schools
in Texas, the state would have to enter into a
memorandum of understanding with the federal government that the federal
government would pay for that student's tuition. And that bill
has been filed in the current session by State Rep.
(01:58:32):
Ben Bumgardner out of also North Texas.
Speaker 3 (01:58:35):
Okay, So we'll see what happens with all of that.
And I wonder I have to always have to wonder too,
Chris Russ, So if we took away public benefits for illegals,
if we took away pre education, the things that they're
coming here for, how much of this problem would solve itself.
Speaker 33 (01:58:55):
Well, I think it would be a lot of it.
I think there's a reason that people are able to
live here when you know they're being paid less than
the prevailing wage of an American worker, and a lot
of that has to do with public subsidies and services.
And you know that's the reason that ending those public
(01:59:15):
services and subsidies is a legislative priority for the Republican
Party of Texas. When they met last June, they actually
pass a set of legislative priorities and included in it
for this legislative session in the state of Texas was
to end those public subsidies and services.
Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
Okay, we'll see if that actually happens. Chris, thanks for
joining US as president for Texans for Strong Borders. Chris Russo,
you' all have a great day. See a Monday morning,
bright early five am. I'll also see you, hopefully this
after the four and am nine to fifty KPRC
