Speaker 2 (01:39):
Here's Eric Sharp.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Good Morning six Z two on News Radio seven forty KTRH.
This news brought to you by All Star Construction. Our
top story this hour. The United States and United Kingdom
reach a trade deal Trump administration agreeing to lower tariffs
on cars, steel, and aluminum, UK agreeing to buy American
beef and ethanol. Commerce Secretary Howard Ludnick tell Fox News
(02:01):
that the deal goes further than anyone would really understand.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
This is not just a headline deal.
Speaker 7 (02:07):
This is thousands and thousands of products that are going
to unleash five billion dollars of our ability, our farmers,
our business people. We can now sell to the UK
that we've never been able to do before.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
A ten percent baseline tariff will remain. Trade talk sent
for this weekend between the US and China, but with
progress comes the worries of trusting the Chinese. Josh Bernbaum,
the Foundation for Dependent Democracy, says that we will have
to create cooperation mechanisms, but the US holds the ace.
Speaker 8 (02:42):
China desperately needs the US markets in order to be
able to sell the types of goods that it seeks
to build. If China's planning to focus on electric vehicles
and solar panels, they're going to need the US cooperation,
which gives the US tremendous advantage in any negotiation.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
Any sense, we need to push back on their policies
like stealing American intellectual property. Wall Street will open up
with stocks up this morning. It comes after President Trump's
announcement about the framework for that trade deal between the
United Kingdom and the US. At the closing bill yesterday,
the Dow Jones gained two hundred and fifty four points
to forty one three sixty eight. The SP five hundred
(03:20):
rows by thirty two to fifty six sixty three and
the NASDAK gained one hundred and eighty nine points to
seventeen nine twenty eight. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announcing in
a post on true social media that any transgender troops
need to resign from service by June sixth, or they
may be removed from their positions.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
In accordance with policy.
Speaker 9 (03:39):
Now reinstated service members who have a current diagnosis or
history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with gender dysphoria may
elect to separate voluntarily and then eventually involuntarily if necessary.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
This comes after a ruling from the Supreme Court this
week resulting in the ban getting the green light. Former
President Biden he continues his awkward media comeback tour. He
was on The View yesterday after doing an interview with
the BBC earlier in the week. He still seems confused,
claiming that he would have beaten Donald Trump if he
stayed in the race.
Speaker 10 (04:12):
Yeah, he still got seven million fewer ooks.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
A lot of people didn't show up.
Speaker 8 (04:15):
Number one, number one, number two.
Speaker 10 (04:18):
They're very close in those toss up states.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
Then Trump actually got two billion more votes last year
than in twenty twenty and won every swing state. Pope
Leo the fourteenth holding his first mast and Assistine chapel
on Friday, the Pope asked the cardinals to express gratitude
to God as.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
We celebrate this morning.
Speaker 11 (04:41):
I invite you to recognize the marvels that the Lord
has done, the blessings that the Lord continues to pour.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Out upon all of us. He's the first North American
pope to be elected.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
Leo was born in Chicago and spent his career ministering
in Peru. Both President Trump and Vince President JD. Vance
gave congratulatesations Thursday to Pope Leo the Fourteenth. There's a
push in text is to put prayer back in schools.
Legislation would allow school districts to vote on whether they
want to set aside time to allow kids to read
from the Bible or other religious texts.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
To go with the legislation is to affirm and protect
religious freedom.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Stay reped David Spiller says participation would be voluntary. Families
would need to opt in. The bill is already past
the state Senates. There are multiple Second Amendment bills working
through the legislature right now that would allow those with
licenses to carry inside of polling places.
Speaker 12 (05:35):
There should be no reason why responsible adults shouldn't be
allowed to defend themselves. The biggest problem with preventing those
people from being able to carry it with a license
is where you're leaving your gun. You're leaving in your car.
That's even more dangerous than having it on you.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
It's CJ.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
Grisham, the Texas Gun Rights He says that this would
help protect polling locations in rural parts of the state
where law enforcement protection is more difficult to come by.
More problems the HPD is the new thirty one million
dollar record system has been delayed, likely for at least
six months.
Speaker 13 (06:07):
Retired HPD Captain and now doctor Greg Freeman says, this
is a big deal.
Speaker 10 (06:13):
Yes, it will be delayed, but I wanted to let
your listeners know this is again a massive infrastructure undertaking
for the police Department and.
Speaker 13 (06:22):
One that Mayor Whitmeyer was warned about last August.
Speaker 10 (06:26):
You know, the mayor obviously is going to get input
from other people, which he did, but ultimately he makes
the decision what he thinks is in the best interest
of the city and the police department.
Speaker 13 (06:34):
The deal has been extended until November for an additional
one point seven million.

Connext on the ten oh wait our time here in
Houston's Born News. I never acquired a taste for pop Tarts,
so I say that right up front as a disclaimer here,
I'm not looking at this is a good thing. I'm
pretty sure sky Mike is gonna have a different take
on this. But pop Tarts has decided they are going
(07:22):
to expand Kelenova, which is the parent company Kellogg's, the
parent company of They also make Pringles and rice crispies
and cheese its and pop Tarts, yeah, all the healthy
food made by this company. Says that pop Tarts is
going to get involved with ice cream with pints of
(07:44):
pop Tart flavors and pop Tart ice cream sandwiches. You
know where you have I guess two pop Tarts and
in between. You have ice cream, you make an ice cream.
You could do that now, right. All you have to
do is take some ice cream and put between two
pop tarts and you've got it now. But the ice
cream sandwiches will be available in three flavors, frosted brown sugar, cinnamon,
(08:08):
frosted strawberry, and frosted chocolate fudge. The pints will be
available and frosted brown sugar, cinnamon, frosted strawberry, and frosted
s'mores flavors. Not sure when, Oh, they'll be available sometime
this month at Walmart, followed by the release of ice
(08:29):
cream pints later this year, so that the sandwiches will
be the first out sometime this month available at Walmart,
and then the pints will follow later this summer six ten.
Time for traffic and weather together. It's all good to me.
I'm looking at the ingredients from pop tarts. You have
this just screams nutrition.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Does it have a lot of really long science words,
you know, some dextros and some glycerine you know what deoxyenogend,
hydrogenated w I don't know.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
There's there's see any the soybean oil and palm oil
and granulated sugar and dextros.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
I'm trying to share this with the rest of the media.
It's Nord Freeway under the Beltway. I don't know why.
I suspect everybody's okay, but man, look at the smune.
The closest I can see as far as cameras. If
you're playing the home game with me on the Trendstar site,
go to camera two three one.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, you could see that big smudge on the southbound.
We can't get a close up on it.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
So the pretty ladies on TV are asking me if
you could safely take a picture of video of this,
you could send it to my Facebook and I'll send
it to them. So if you can help me, or
you can, you know, just give me some exact langage
here seven one three, two one two tips. Rest of
our freeways pretty much rock and along just been not slower.
We've got wet ones. So let's turn their snooze off, Terry.

Speaker 15 (10:16):
I love Sunday's weather.
Speaker 16 (10:18):
That would be my pick of my favorite days weatherwise
this weekend, So thank you Mother Nature for timing that
out nicely for all the moms out there. So we
have a little bit of rain, but it's not a
washout and the temperatures are going to be quite pleasant.
So a twenty percent chance of a shower, maybe a
rumble of thunder today, upper seventies to low eighties. Definitely
(10:42):
cooler than yesterday. Let's see bush It or Continental made
it up the ninety yesterday. So yeah, we're back to
springtime tomorrow at thirty percent chance of afternoon thunder showers
and temperatures upper seventies to low eighties, but even cooler
on Sunday. And there's no rain Sunday, just sunshine, mid
upper seventies Sunday, and then by Monday we start to
(11:06):
warm up load to mid eighties and Tuesday looking at
afternoon highs in the upper eighties to low nineties.

to you by New South Windows Solutions.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Just about six twenty our time. Here in Houston's Warning News,
we have a new foc. His name is Leo, the
Fourteenthieast and American, and he's from Chicago, although he has
a lot of experience in South America. And of course
whenever you get a new pope, the question becomes, how
is this pope like or dislike the last pope? We
had a very progressive pope in Pope Francis. Will Leo
(11:48):
be another progressive or will he be more conservative? What
will this mission be? We'll talk to Jonathan Science, president
of Texas Values, about all this in just a moment. First, though,
let's do at traffic and weather together. Tomatoes and his
hot dogs. He does Chicago's if that's true, that's true,
he probably does. Guy Mike Nord Freeway.

Here's Eric Good Morning six twenty one on news Radio

long time ally of Trump, dating back to her time
as prominence prosecutor at New York a juvenal living in Brooklyn,

Speaker 1 (13:35):
I listened to most Soulway something I always just want
to be informed on US Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Well, as I've said before, I'm not a Catholic, but
I am fascinated by the history and the pomp and
the circumstance of picking a pope, the conclave, the pope itself,
how the pope decides what name he is going to use.
He's joining us to talk about this new Pope, Leo
the fourteenth. Jonathan Signs, President of Texas Values in American Jonathan,
(14:07):
what do you make of that?
Speaker 17 (14:09):
Well, Look, I talked to you all about this earlier
in the week, and I don't remember exactly what I said.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
I was trying to remember for sure.
Speaker 17 (14:15):
But I know I made some comment about it was
very unlikely. I said, I think, I said, if there's
a possibility it could be a pope from the United States,
very slim And apparently you know that was true, don't.
I'm just having some fun with it. It's Look, this
is the biggest story of the week and across the world,
if not for you know, the next few weeks, for
(14:37):
a little bit of time here.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
It is historic.
Speaker 17 (14:40):
This is the first pope ever from the United States.
And I think there's going to be a lot of
excitement and a lot of interest about that. I mean,
we as Americans, the place that the United States plays
on the world stage, if you will. And we also
know with the President now who is America first, He
talks about that a lot. There's a lot of attention
(15:01):
around our country. But you know, I talked about this
earlier in the week. The Catholic Church is experiencing a
surge and new people becoming Catholic, whether they're being born
into it or they're deciding.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Later in life.
Speaker 17 (15:12):
And so I don't know what went on all too
the the decision or the selection of Robert Francis previous
now taking the name Popelio, the fourteenth.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
But you know, it's really interesting.
Speaker 17 (15:25):
I do think it's exciting for people like yourself that
are Catholic.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
And not Catholic.
Speaker 17 (15:30):
And you know, it's a lot being written about Poblio
fourteenth already from what I can tell, you know, a
lot of his things that he has said goes right
along with Catholic teaching. I don't know how you distinguish
him from between Pope Francis. You know a lot of
people don't realize Pope Francis talked a lot about the
pro life issue, talking about his support of the dignity
(15:51):
of life and opposing abortion, and there's all there's already
people reporting that Popolio the fourteenth has made similar statements.
He's pubary of the fourteenth has made similar statements about
rejecting gender ideology and things of that nature, which we
know is very active in our culture now and sort
of a part of elections and politics and discussion online
(16:15):
and in social media and just when people interact. But
you know, there's also reports that he's disagreed with President
Trump on immigration policies.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
That's not a surprise.
Speaker 17 (16:26):
I mean that you see that a lot from the
Catholic hierarchy even though, but there's reports that he's you
know that Pubby on the fourteenth has been registered as
a Democrat a while back, more recently as a Republican.
So he's obviously active in his voting life, which is encouraging.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Okay, you said Democrat and reput Is he a rhino?
Speaker 18 (16:51):
You know?
Speaker 10 (16:52):
No?
Speaker 17 (16:52):
I mean, well, look, you know, the most recent history
was that, you know, according to the news reports that
he voted in the Republican primary. I mean, you look,
we'll see people do that, right that we're you know,
sometimes they'll vote Democrat and then maybe later in life
they vote Republican. But but the reality is, you know,
let's see, I mean, we don't we don't know for
(17:12):
sure how how he's going to conduct himself. My point
is that these are things that are indicative of a
lot of people that are in authority positions in the
Catholic Church, very strong on pro life issues, rejecting the
gender ideology, but seeing a you know, looking for a
more compassionate approach, if you will, to the issue of immigration,
(17:37):
but also a very strong devotion to the faith. I mean,
he hopefully the fourteenth was a missionary in Peru.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I think for two decades, and you know, we get caught.
Speaker 17 (17:47):
You know, there's a lot of discussion about these issues,
and I think they're important that you and I talk
a lot about. But the main role is to lead
the faith and to stay close to the Bible and
Christ and the Catholic Church and its teachings. And you know,
I think the selection of Pope Leo the fourteenth is
the name that he's taken. Usually someone who's got a
(18:09):
deep history in the Catholic Church, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, usually you can use qualified it you will.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
You can usually get some sort of an inkling of
what they believe their mission to be based on the
name they choose. I'm obviously if if you have time
to our afternoon show today, a name of nine fifty kps,
so you get a lot more questions for you. Jonathan,
we're out of time for this one, but we'll talk
to you later. Jonathan Signs, President of Texas Values. Six
twenty seven. It is time to take a look at
your money. Here's Jeff Bellinger and Jimmy. Apple has a
(18:36):
team of developers working on new chips for future devices.
Sources say the company has made progress on a chip
to power its first ever smart glasses and apples. Silicon
designers are also working on new chips for more powerful
max and artificial intelligence servers. Stock market futures are have
just turned lower. Not sure what happened, but right now
(18:58):
the now futures are down ninety five points.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
We'll check into that.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business on News Radio seven forty KTRH.

the dawn of the return of skilled workers. Yeah, seventy
grand for high school graduates. Not a bad way to
start life. Even if people self deport it doesn't necessarily
mean they should be able to come back into our country.
And coming up at six thirty eight, what would you
(19:45):
do if you had Bill Gates money? Details in the

Speaker 4 (19:55):
We're gonna go downtown quickly. We got this north freeway problem.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
We'll get to you.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
I just wanted to see what was squishing up downtown

Speaker 2 (20:06):
I like a natural. We're back up from quipman.
Speaker 4 (20:09):

For today, we've got well, we've had a few showers
this morning, but that's not pretty much going to be
how the day goes. We're gonna end up with Hartley
Cloudi's guys warm today. With the high temperature right about eighty,
we'll get the very slight chance of maybe a shower
at thundershower. We'll check all this out with Terry Smith
(20:45):
at the Weather Channel in eight minutes right now sixty
seven at your official severe weather station news Radio seven
forty k TRH. It's time now for the news.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Here's Eric Sharp, Good Morning six thirty two on news
radio seven forty k TRH.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Our top story this.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
President Trump said earlier this week illegal aliens who self
deport could be given a chance to come back legally. However,
Jessica Vaughn with the Center for Immigration Study says it's
not the right answer.
Speaker 15 (21:12):
The answer is to actually reduce the numbers and have
an immigration system where we select people who are likely
to succeed here.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Not to just open the doors to anyone who wants
to come.
Speaker 6 (21:23):
The bottom line is Joe Biden led in way too
many illegals over the last four years on purpose. Court
battles over immigration and deportation are in full focus as
DHS Secretary Christy Nome faces lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Speaker 20 (21:37):
The court cases continue to pile up, many of them
primed potentially for an eventual hearing.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Before the US Supreme Court.
Speaker 20 (21:42):
Yesterday, Judge James Boseberg, a district judge in Washington, d C,
Pressed a DOJ attorney about recent statements made by Secretary
Noman President Trump regarding the Seacott Maximum Security Prison in
El Salvador. The President recently said in that interview with
ABC News that he could bring back kilmar Abrego Garsia
from El Salvador if he wanted to. Now, the Supreme
Court recently said the seventeen ninety eight Alien Enemies Act
(22:06):
could be used to deport a legal migrants, but due
process must be followed, meaning people can't just be thrown
on planes and sent to El Salvador.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
They must have some sort of hearing.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
And that was Fox's David Spot on Capitol Hill this week,
lawmakers shared their concerns with the head of Homeland Security.
South Texas Congressman Henry Quahar says, we need an upgrade
in border cameras, which are mostly broken, inoperable, and running
on obsolete tech.
Speaker 21 (22:30):
This old technology is like going to a car and
you fix it, and they keep coming in to fix
it up.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill includes billions of dollars for
a new border wall and other improvements. The US and
the UK have agreed to a new trade deal. President
Trump made the announcement Thursday, said he feels it will
be a great deal for both countries. UK agreement is
the first trade deal to be reached with the US
since Trump announced the Global tear Off Plan, Transportation Secretary
(22:59):
Sean Duff announcing the department will be requesting billions from
Congress to revamp air traffic control systems. He says, it's
an urgent need.
Speaker 22 (23:07):
If we don't actually accomplish the mission that we're announcing today,
you will see newarks, not just in Newark, You'll see
Newarks in other parts of the country because it's an
agent system.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Several air incidents in recent months were linked to air
traffic controlled staffing or equipment problems. Food and Drug Administration
restructuring under the Trump administration, laying off three thousand workers.
Commissioner of Food and Drug Marty Macker retelling Fox it's
a shift of the FDA's mission back to people health.
Speaker 23 (23:37):
In the last administration, the number one priority, the Commissioner stated,
was fighting misinformation, and the DEI staff ballooned out. We
want to focus on cures and meaningful treatments. We believe
in the letter and the spirit of Right to Try.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
EGHS has been ordered to restore some employees who were
laid off, including those in the nine to eleven program.
A meeting between the FDA leadership and the agency's US
union was canceled without explanation this week. A House voting
Thursday to follow President Trump's lead renaming the Golf of
Mexico to the Golf of America. All Republican Republicans voting
(24:11):
yes except for Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon. All Democrats voting no.
Speaker 18 (24:16):
Yes are two hundred and eleven.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
The nays are two hundred and six. The bill has
passed without objection. A motion to reconsider is late on
the table.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green had to introduced the bill,
mirroring the president's recent executive order. Mary John Whitmyer says
his seven billion dollar budget proposal is completely balanced and
according to the city finance director, we could be looking
at shortfalls as high as five hundred million dollars in
just a few years.
Speaker 15 (24:44):
This is primarily thanks to waste that occurred under previous administrations.
Speaker 10 (24:48):
Mayor Turner pushed everything off that he could. He used
the COVID funds wrong, and he used them on frivolous matters.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I don't know why he was doing that.
Speaker 15 (24:56):
That's former city Councilman Greg Travis. He says that Turner
just kicked cans down on the road and kept spending.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Every year we hired more and more people.
Speaker 10 (25:03):
I don't understand why if you do hiring freees, do
you end up in a thousand more people at the
end of your term than you did at the beginning
of your term.
Speaker 15 (25:09):
Travis says he expects city Council to be an obstacle
for Whitmeyer as he attempts to address these budget issues.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH forget college.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
The shortage of skilled labor has prompted companies to seek
new workers in high school trade programs. Former Dirty Jobs
host Mike Rowe says that it's the way of the
future in the job market.
Speaker 19 (25:29):
We have relied too heavily on credentials and we often
overlook people who are in fact the most qualified to
help us close the skills gap, which is very real.
Seven million jobs open right now, Most of them don't
require a four year degree. Many pay six figures.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
A seventeen year old welding student in Pennsylvania already has
an offer for a sixty eight thousand dollars a year
job when he graduates next year. The Astros were off Thursday,
they open up a weekend series at home against the Reds. Tonight,
Live coverage on KTRH begins at seven. I'm Eric Sharp

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Info at this Speed of Houston Right now.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Barrett and the Houston
Morning News team.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Right So, what propped in my question today?
Speaker 3 (26:17):
If you had Bill Gates money, which is like one
hundred and eight billion dollars, He's already given away a
hundred billion. He says he's going to give away the
rest of his money over the next twenty years because
he doesn't want to die rich. I wonder how is
three kids feel about that. It's okay, Dad, just leave
(26:37):
it to me. But evidently that's not going to be
the case. I don't know if he's set something up
for the kids or not. If he would, I would
think he probably did set something up. But here's the question.
If you had like one hundred billion dollars, this just
rounded down to something we can all work with. It's
it's fun to play the game. If you had one
hundred billion dollars and how how would you spend it?
(27:00):
It's like it's like if you won the lottery and
you suddenly were rich, what would you do with the money.
So that's the question. Today, you go to the iHeartRadio
app ktr H, please make us number one on your
preset that it makes it so much easier to get to.
It's like hitting the button on your on your car radio. Boom,
we're right there. Hit the talkback button after that first name,
where you're calling from, And how you would spend Bill
(27:21):
Gates money if you had it one hundred billion dollars.
Speaker 24 (27:26):
If I got that money, pay off all my bills,
do some home remodeling by myself, a brand new Lexus
I F five hundred. I'd give myself a two weeks
notice and for two weeks they can notice I'm out there,
and then pretty much do whatever the hell I want.
Speaker 14 (27:44):
Hey, Jamie, I'd buy an island somewhere in the Caribbean,
fix it up with all kinds Reynolds hat fishing with charterers, have.
Speaker 25 (27:57):
Crucious things like that, and making profitable as well. I
think that's what I would do with a billion dollars.
And then maybe all.
Speaker 14 (28:09):
Right, thank you, good morning back ADDI.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
This is Blake from Mukiny. So I want one hundred
billion dollars, I got a big old plot of land
in the middle of nowhere, Texas, fix it up for
the family. That'd be away from all the crazy leftists,
and we'd enjoy life for generations or for the next
five or ten years.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
So property taxes that eat up all that portion.
Speaker 18 (28:28):
Jeff from Conroe, if I won one hundred billion dollars,
I would donate and help all American veterans, and then
I would take my wife and I do all the
Astro games across the country for the rest of our
lives and the best seats possible.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Good day.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Interesting, Well, we had one who was feeling philanthramic, but
most of us were, No, we're gonna spend it on
ourselves six forty time for traffic and weather together.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
No, I don't believe it. Jeff from Conra, are you serious, dude?
Speaker 3 (29:02):
You would spend the money on rebuilding Astra World so
he can spend it on whatever he wants.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Jeff from Conrad would buy more volkswagons.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
He owns seven. I know, Jeff, maybe he would just
buy the entire company.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
That's okay. I would let him on the Texas Cyclone. Terry.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
I'm going to send you a video of the Texas cyclone.
Just watching that video makes you go, it's awesome. So yeah,
rebuilding astral world, hard heads, Let's talk here right off
your tip line before I get to you.

Speaker 4 (30:12):

I was having to move electronic equipment. Wow, that was crazy.
Lights went out this morning. I'm wondering if we're getting
any more of that. I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot
Com Traffic.
Speaker 3 (30:24):

will the Center.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Terry is here.
Speaker 13 (30:29):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
That's a little surprised by the rain we head at
our house overnight.
Speaker 26 (30:32):
But yeah, we did get some very heavy rain in spots.
It was quite interesting actually, the showers and thunderstorms that
developed yesterday and overnight as well. Most of that has
moved off toward the east, which is good for your
outdoor plans today and really over through the weekend. But
(30:53):
that area of low pressure is still close enough to
have some raine showing up here today and tomorrow. But
today it's a twenty percent chance of a shower thunderstorm.
Tomorrow it's a thirty percent chance of these afternoon thunderstorms developing,
and you may get some brief periods of heavy rain.
Temperatures today and tomorrow upper seventies to low eighties. Sunday
(31:15):
is our gold Star Day, Skymike, because we've got sunshine
and mid to upper seventies. I can't take your banana sticker,
so I'm going to give it a gold Star.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
On Sunday, we'll go visit Mom on the farm. There
you go.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Temperature right now is sixty seven at your official severe
weather station, News radio seven forty KTRH. You are commute,
you are forecast your news. It's Houston's Morning News, brought
to you buying new South Windows solutions. All right, so
I find Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to be pretty refreshing.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
You know.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
He basically said yesterday it's going to cost about twelve
billion dollars to fix air traffic control at all of
our nation's airports. We are going to put in the
latest technology. We are going to fix this problem. It's
a problem that's been kicked down the road by administration
after administration.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
This is it.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
We're gonna have state of the art air traffic control
and we're going to get started on this right away.
More than the story coming up next. First, though, we've
got traffic and weather together, starting with you Skymike.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
All right, nord Freeway sculchery, we'll get to that. We
got a brand new problem on six to northeast bound
before Durham.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Boy, that wreck didn't sit there very long.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
Oh, that's because he was a stall Okay, watch out
from TC gesture. There's a bit of a scunch now
North Freeway, Andrew from Spring.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
Guy Mike Dude southbound in addition to stall vehicles on
the left shoulder right by the accident. Really and then
Brountets Road is also a trian Norman mare.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
All right, so let's be sure in a reroute to
the Hardy Hey, Andrew, maybe those vehicles, you know, maybe
this is related like people from Hardin to the original accent,
so southbound.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
That's a big backup from air tech.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
We'll update the laneage at seven o'clock after timeline and
the Generator Supercenter dot Com traffic Center from our ktra
each Generator super Center twenty four hour weather center partly
Klaudi with a chance slight chance with thundershower today, high
temperature about eighty partley Klaudi, chance of a few showers tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (33:10):

Mother's Day Sunday with mostly sunny skies. Temperature right now
is sixty seven. At your officials Severe weather Station News
Radio seven forty KTRH. We're checking out some more of
our top trending stories on a Friday morning and for

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Here's Eric Good.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
Morning six fifty one on news radio seven forty KTRH.
The Department of Defense moving quickly to remove about one
thousand transgender service members from the US military. On Thursday,
trans service members were given thirty days to leave or
be forced out. There's a push in Texas to put
prayer back in schools. Legislation would allow school districts to
set aside time for kids to read from the Bible
(33:48):
or other religious text. And former boxing champion Manni Panqiao

Our next update comes your way at seven. That's not
on the way to work. I love talk radio, so
I listen from talk for every day for weather, local
news for every one I listened on the way hord traffic.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Use radio seven. Just don't ask him to fly to Newark, Okay.
Sex fifty two is our time here in Houston's morning news.
Did here's the good news and the bad news about Newark.
The good news is is we just we now know
just how bad Newark International Airport is. We have a
(34:38):
flight there next month, man oh Man. Even United Airlines
is telling their customers, yeah, you might want to fly,
you know, through a different different but it's it's probably
in our case, it's probably too late to do that.
But anyway, fingers crossed. The good news is, I guess
if you are flying to new work, then there's a
lot of atension obviously on new work, so they're probably
(34:58):
doing everything they can keep everything together. The other good
news about Newark is is that it finally gets everybody
understanding just how bad air traffic control is and how
many problems we have across the country with equipment that
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says belongs in the Smithsonian. Here
is the Transportation Secretary on Hannity last night.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Well, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 21 (35:19):
Listening to the prior secretary indicated to me that this
was a department that ran itself.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
And you know, when he was a.
Speaker 21 (35:24):
Secretary, I'm not sure that they actually showed up to
the office.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Most of the.
Speaker 21 (35:27):
Office didn't come into work. And so as I've been
here at this about hundred day, Sewan, I've been here
for one hundred days. And this is more than a
full time job. You have to show up. You have
to work twelve sixteen hours a day to do this job.
And if you don't come, things don't happen. And for
people to judge when you don't show up, and you
get multiple warnings from watchdog groups that say, hey, listen,
(35:48):
the air traffic control system is failing.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
You have to take action. They did absolutely.
Speaker 21 (35:53):
Nothing the Biden administration, remember this, Sean. They spent one
point two trillion dollars on infrastructure in America, one point
two trillion dollars. None of it went to fix the
air traffic control system, which is a crumbling infrastructure, key
infrastructure in this country. They didn't fix it. And so
now we've been left with the problem. Right, we had
the DCA aircrash.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
We then have had the new work outage.
Speaker 21 (36:16):
And we have said in the Trump administration, listen, we
don't pass problems off to the next administration. We actually
fix problems. We take hard problems and we make them better.
And so today we rolled out the most historic aviation
plan that has been ever laid out in the history
of man. We are going to rebuild every part every
aspect of the air traffic control system. So it's going
(36:38):
to be as you played the clip, samir, radios, radar,
a whole infrastructure of telecom, all the fund facing and
back office side of a telecommunication for air traffic controllers.
They're going to have a brand new system. But we
need Congress to give us all the money up front,
and then we need them to waive a lot of
the requirements for permitting. If they do that for us,
(37:00):
we can actually build this really quick and make sure
our skies are still the safest in the world.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Oh so you need Congress's help, Well, that might slow
things down a little bit. All right, Time for the
timeline being brought to you by Velocity Business Products. We
have a pair of tickets see Chris Isaac July twenty
ninth at the House of Blues. Tickets are on sale
