Speaker 1 (00:00):
Are Republicans going crazy over the election results?

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Okay, yeah, we saw what happened in Virginia. That's not
really a big surprise. We saw what happened in New Jersey.
The fact that that race wasn't closer was a bit
of surprise. But it's local races here in Texas that
the Houston Chronicle thinks, at least in this opinion piece,
thinks should be making President Trump nervous, you know, because
of scy Fair going more moderate less conservative with their

(00:23):
school board election. They sense a trend? Is it work here?
This asked Jared Woodfield, conservative Republicans of Texas. Do you
see a trend at work here that should be making
the president nervous about the midterms?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Jared, Well, absolutely not. Jimmy. I mean, let's look at
the source first and foremost, It's Houston Chronicle. When did
they ever get it right? And when have they ever
supported a conservative? The answer to that is never. And
so if you go back and you look at just
the scy Fair races recently, the problem they had there
was in the three races that were up, you had
three individuals in each race. In most of those cases,

(00:56):
two of them were Conservatives that were splitting the vote.
It wasn't a really well or night's campaign. But I
think go back to twenty twenty four. In twenty twenty
four in Harris County, we won ten out of seventeen
benches judicial races. The problem we had was that we
left a lot of those races uncontested. We don't have
that problem going into twenty twenty six. Twenty twenty six,

(01:19):
at this point in time, we almost have every single
bench filled with the candidate. Why is that important because
that shows the level of energy and enthusiasm amongst Harris
County folks. Because folks don't run if they don't think
they can win. And so the fact that we're able
to field that many candidates is a good sign going
into the election. But you know, Greg Abbott has said

(01:40):
that he's going to spend a lot of money on
Harris County. We saw great results in twenty twenty four.
I think we're going to have even better results in
twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well, I don't know if if if the governor is
going to carry in the next election, is going to
carry Harris County or not, but he sure when he
announced his run for reelection he sure sounded like somebody
who thought he could win in Harris County.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Well, the big thing is he's said the courses that
are necessary to help us win. So what we have
to do is right now, we need to start working
on voter registration, and that's extremely important hot Houston summer.
We need to be registering folks, and then we need
to identify them who are the Republican voters, and then
we need to come back in the fall and work

(02:20):
to turn them out. We have to have a coordinated
campaign message that resonates with voters, and that requires some funding.
So right now, I think we have all of the
tools for success. We at the national level, and you know,
everything trickles down. We have a president who's doing a
great job, president who's secured our border, a president who
has made America strong again, a president who is leading

(02:43):
the way in every single issue and delivering upon the
campaign promises he made. So that fires up our base,
that makes some energizing enthusiastic. We just need to make
sure those Trump voters come back out in twenty twenty
six in an off pier election and support the entire
ticket from the top all the way down to the bottom,
because at the bottom is where you see all those
races that impact your life on an everyday basis.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Well, the thing that Trump is so good at is
voter enthusiasm. So how do you get that to trickle
down to these other races. It's one thing when Trump
is on the ballot as far as Republicans showing up.
It's another thing when he isn't, especially an election where
for most of us the one thing we had were
the seventeen propositions to vote on and maybe a school
board member.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Well, I'm hopeful that President Trump will come down in
campaign in Texas and in Harrison County. I believe that
he will, as will jd Vance. But again, I think
you go back and look in twenty twenty four, there
was a very effective campaign run showing how Democrat judges
impacted the lives of everyday Texans and every day folks
from Harrison County. I think we need to continue to

(03:47):
do that. We were successful in twenty twenty four in
the races that we actually field at Candid's again, winning
ten out of seventeen. And that's without Trump's record of
success over the past year and ultimately will be the
past two years the time we hit the twenty twenty
six elections. So I think it's important that we focus
on a local level on what's happening with respect to

(04:07):
the judges, but we also bring that energy and enthusiasm
that President Trump has generated at the national level here
to Aris County, hopefully having President Trump come down here
in campaign.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
All right, Jared, thank you appreciate it. That is Conservative
Republicans of Texas is Jared Woodville at six twenty seven

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
