Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, that's not what it's gonna feel like tonight and
tomorrow on the Gulf of Mexico, at least not in
Brazoria County. Matt Sebesta joins us Bassouria County Judge snow
on the Golf of Mexico. Say it ain't so, Matt.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well, I wish it could, but that's a little bit
above my pay.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Grade, I hear you. So, how how can you prepare? Well,
obviously we've talked to everybody. Nobody has. There's no snowplow
to be found within four or five hundred miles of here,
so we don't have that to rely on. What are
you expecting the impact to be in Brazoria.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, you know, I followed Jeff Linder, like a lot
of us do, and uh, you know, it looks like
we're going to get, uh, we're gonna get a decent
amount of snow. And which the snow's one thing, it's
the ice that is the bigger problem for our folks
that are out on the road. So that that's the
(00:55):
biggest concern is the traveling public out there and roads
being extraordinarily bad and it's just creates a very dangerous condition.
And so just you know, folks just need to hopefully
stay put starting this evening and write it out. Well.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I guess the good news is there's not going to
be a whole lot of anything open tomorrow and probably Wednesday,
so there's not a lot of reason to leave the house,
is there.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
That is correct. But you know a few of our folks,
our first responders and folks working in our chemical plants
keeping them running safely. You know, they've got to be
out on the road, those nurses, doctors, that type thing.
So you know there will be some folks that will
have to be out. So just to pray for them
to be very, very careful.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Matt, I want to ask you, well, I have you too.
You know there's a funeral today for one of your
sheriff's deputies who lost his life in the line of service.
That's going to be a very sad day for you folks.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yes, sir, you will be.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Are you planning on an attending the funeral service today?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yes? Yes?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Or of course yeah. What was the last time Brassori
County lost a service member this way? Can you recall
this way?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Oh my god, I I can't. I know in my
time we've lost we lost a young man twelve thirteen
years ago in a car wreck. We had another one
a little over eighteen years ago that was lost during
(02:33):
you know, working traffic control. Gosh, you know, I think
we go back to nineteen twenty when Sheriff Snow was
shot in the line of duty. But I just don't
have the history that close enough to know, but I
do I do remember Officer van Meter and Officer Olaf
(02:57):
both in the last a little over eighteen years lost
in traffic accidents.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Well, our best to you in the Vargas family, and
we'll keep you folks and our thoughts in our prayers today.
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, and I also forgot, uh, we had an officer
in Paarland. I'm just talking to our Brazori County. We
we had an officer in Fairland here that was lost
in a drunk driver and just just horrible accidents.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
But this one was just my god particular. Yeah, Matt,
thank you so much. Be safe down there in Mizourian.
Thank you for checking in with us. We appreciate it.
