Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, as mentioned, the economy in the first six months
of the Trump presidency is off to a roaring start
when it comes to wages, when it comes to costs,
when it comes to inflation, and so forth. But the
left would never tell you that. Let's check in with
Rob Henneckey, now Executive director in General Council Texas Public
Policy Foundation. Rob, are we are we really at the
beginning of the Golden Age?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Wow? This administration is also a great start. I mean,
you know, we have to keep in mind that even
with everything that's happened, we're six months in, just barely
passes six month mark of President Trump's administration. It's delivering
on promises. But you know, I think the humor, you know,
as it was mentioned in my piece and the Federalists,
(00:41):
was you know, the naysaying and doom predictions by the
Democrats and.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Left that would have you believe that, you know, society
is coming to an end when you know, all of
the predictions by the Democrats about President Trump's administration have
turned out to be false, and in fact, I think
things are going very well.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Why do you think it is that they're continuing to
bury the good news and to try to you know,
highlight any potential failure and not even failures, because I
think what they're doing is saying, yeah, well, inflation hasn't
spiked yet, but will because these terrorists haven't all kicked
in yet.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It's really the Democrats rooting against America, which I find
offensive as an American myself. I mean, you know, the
and the breathless hyperbole I think just destroys their credibility here. Recently,
regarding the upcoming Reconciliation bill, you know, Chuck Schumer had
a press conference and he's standing next to a poster
that is titled people are going to Die Bill. That's
(01:42):
what he was calling this thing. And I'm like, that's
that seems like a bit much. And that's why, you know,
my piece I focus. I make the analogy to Chicken Little,
you know, where the Democrats have have given no credit
for the positive things happening in this administration. Instead are
just predicting, you know, well that now this is going
to happen, this is going to happen. You know, doom, doom, doom,
(02:02):
whether it's you know, the you know, the deportation policy,
or the economic policies or the foreign policy. You know,
their predictions are so outrageous. But give President Trump credit
for the things he's done that are working, and work
with the administration on solutions for future problems. But if
(02:23):
you're just going to stand off on the sideline and
just say that the world's coming to an end and
it doesn't over and over and over again, then I
think you to think it tuned out by the American people.
And that's what's happening.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Rob Nicky is our guest. He wrote a great piece
for the Federalists. You focused on eggs on this thing too,
and then correctly pointing out for some reason, the price
of eggs seems to be like the ultimate metric it
was for the last part of the Biden administration. It's down,
They're down sixty one percent. Uh here, in the first
six months of the Trump administration. What kind of an
indicator is that?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Well, I mean, look, we've stopped talking about, you know,
when egg prices back, and I think February or March
had gone up prior to Secretary of Brook Rollins taking
quick action that you know, successfully brought those prices down.
Even in mind, you know, the Trump team had only
been in there for a hot minute following the Biden administration.
(03:17):
You know, everybody stopped talking about it, But I think
that that's what you know, you know, Americans are looking
at is for their safety and peace of mind and security.
They're looking at you know, what are the prices at
the grocery store? You know what is what does gasoline cost?
What are the things that affect me directly? And those
data points have improved as compared to the Biden administration.
(03:41):
And I think that that's the reason why, for the
first time in over twenty years, a majority of Americans
believe that our country is on the right track. And
Donald Trump also has an over fifty percent favorability rating
from the American people. People see with their pocketbooks and
their daily lives that what's happening is working as it
(04:01):
affects them directly.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Rob give me sixty seconds on the governor's veto of
the THHC band late last night. Everybody has a reaction
to this. Do you think that regulate not regulating THHD
products will work?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well? This is not an issue that the Texas Public
Policy Foundation has weighed in on. Have a policy.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
But I'll say what's interesting is it looks like.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
We're going into overtime you know, coupled with the veto
statement is the governor's announcement that there's going to be
a special session on July twenty first, and that this
bill in terms of regulating these THHC products will be
one of the items on the special session call. So
(04:43):
I think, you know, it's interesting in that we just
had a legislative session, you know, and these bills were
debated and heard a committee and passed, But apparently the
governor has concern So I guess we'll have another shot
out and with the other items on the call, UH
to see if if you know, between the two branches
(05:05):
of government, the legislative branch and the executive branch, they
can negotiate a satisfactory end product. But you know, we're
thought of session had ended with all of the priorities
of leadership being addressed and satisfied. It looks like we're
(05:26):
going to go in overtime.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Rob Nicky read his work on the American economy being
strong just bite Democrat wishes for the opposite hits at
the Federalist dot Com right now. Rob Annicky from TPPS
O TPPS, thank you very much for the time.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
We appreciate my pleasure have a great week,
