Speaker 10 (02:54):
I don't know, some kind of crap in the road northbound.
I hope it's not causing tire problems. I promise I'll

News Radio seven forty KTRH. It is time now for
the news. Here's Close Honders.

Speaker 11 (03:41):
Good morning, Jimmy five oh one on kt RH, our
top story this hour.

Speaker 12 (03:46):
We are gonna see the border secure, and it's not
gonna take a year.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
It's not even gonna take six months.

Speaker 12 (03:51):
We're gonna see it in January and February of next year.

Speaker 11 (03:55):
That was Texas Senator Ted Cruz on Newsmax with that
prediction last night. As president and like Donald Trump's mass
deportation programs against to start in January. Meantime, Ice in
the sanctuary city of Boston announces the arrest of two
more illegal aliens charged with raping kids in Massachusetts and
a third convicted of raping a child in Brazil, the

(04:20):
illegal alien convicted of murdering Lincoln Riley in Georgia against
life without parole yesterday.

Speaker 13 (04:26):
The sad fact is that I wish he'd gotten a
death penalty. When you take a life and you shatter
the social contract to that egregious of degree, you forfeited
your own life.

Speaker 11 (04:35):
Texas Congressman Pat Fallon's reaction on Fox Business. Jose Ebarro
was found guilty in a bench trial on ten counts
five H three on KTRH on Capitol Hill. The House
Ethics Panel does not agree to release a report on
former Florida Congressman Matt Gates.

Speaker 14 (04:53):
I'm looking forward to a hearing. Folks have been very supportive.
They've been saying we're going to get a fair process.
So it's a great day of momentum for the Trump
vance administration.

Speaker 11 (05:03):
Gates was on Capitol Hill yesterday meeting with senators about
his nomination as Donald Trump's Attorney general, and according to
Fox Business, the President elect is considering a new position
for the cabinet dedicated to cryptocurrency. A cryptos are so
to speak here at home. A Texas lawmaker proposes legislation

(05:24):
that would require the federal government to pay this state
to educate illegal aliens. Sydney Herod Henry with the Texas
Coorecard says, this is a whole new ballgame.

Speaker 15 (05:34):
As have it pointed out, we have kids come in
from more than one hundred and five different countries across
the globe, and they want to be educated in our schools,
and that requires a whole different language set that not
every school is equipped to provide.

Speaker 11 (05:46):
Now. Governor Greg Abbott has expressed support for this legislation,
but there's no guarantee that the federal government would agree
to pay Texas anything. There's a new report from Urkatt
that has some people worried about a re peach of
the freeze in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 16 (06:02):
The good news is even if we did have another freeze,
it wouldn't be as bad as twenty twenty one.

Speaker 17 (06:07):
Those outages were lengthy and we're not able to be rotated.
I don't believe that situation would exist even if we
had that same weather.

Speaker 16 (06:16):
Beth Garza with the r Street Institute told KTRH Texas
improvements after the freeze have gone a long way.

Speaker 17 (06:22):
Things like stricter weatherization requirements with higher penalties for non
compliance that's a powerful motivator for power plants.

Speaker 16 (06:31):
Garza said the worst case scenario would likely just be
some customers losing power for an hour or so. Ethan
Beginning News Radio seven forty KRH coming up now on

That's good news for metro areas, and a separate study
thirty eight percent of Houston households can afford the median
priced home that is right in line with the national average.

Speaker 11 (07:10):
He says mortgage rates won't come down anytime soon unless
an unforeseen recession pops up. The current thirty year mortgage
rate is at six point ninety two percent. There are
more consequences of bidonomics. Credit card debt and swared to
a new record high.

Speaker 19 (07:27):
The latest FED report shows how many Americans have been
getting by over the last four years. As credit card
debt rises to a record one point seven trillion dollars.
Senior economic analyst for Bank Rate Mark Hamrick says consumers
should start to feel some relief since the fat has
already started to lower interest rates.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
And that really does feed on through.

Speaker 20 (07:45):
Things like credit card debt and eventually, in slower fashion,
auto loans and hopefully mortgage rate.

Speaker 19 (07:54):
Trump has also promised to put a cap on credit
card interest rates.

Speaker 5 (07:58):

sixty seven for a gallon of regular, unlettered across Texas,
across Houston. It's two dollars and sixty cents. That's a
good eighty to eighty seven cents higher than you paid
when Trump left the White House five oh six. Now
on KTRH as you get set for your Thanksgiving trips,

(08:22):
HPD sees nearly three thousand pounds of marijuana packed in
luggage last year at our local airports. Now, according to
a TV report, they've already seized about two thousand pounds

You look forward to it. You can't wait till they
bring it back every now and again, and you go
out and get it every chance you can. Or you
think it's disgusting. I am the latter. I'm more of
the disgusted, not because of the taste. I can't get
past how it looks. It looks. You know, they've taken

(14:11):
some sort of a gelatinous pork product. I think it's pork,
and they've kind of molded it into something that's supposed
to look like a rib, but there's no bones in it.
It's a franken rib. But for those of you who
like it, who really really like it, it's coming back.

(14:32):
The fast food chain announcing yesterday the return of the
big rib also showing that you can now buy make
rib sauce. Is big rib sauce that good? You can
buy it by the half gallon. You buy a whole
jug of it. So I guess what you can do
is you can you know, when the mg rib thing
goes away again, you've got all this sauce left over.

(14:54):
You could just go ahead and you know, pull the
bones out of real ribs and you know, kind of
mold it into something and then put the McRib sauce
on it and fantasize that you're still eating a big rib.
I guess that's the idea. It's nineteen ninety nine for
a half gallon. It seems a little pricing. You can
get the half gallon jug at a whole lot of

your grocer.

Speaker 9 (15:35):
How do you get repassed? How do you get past
the look? You know what I mean this?

Speaker 10 (15:39):
Remember I like cranberry sauce that shaped like the can. Okay,
so I enjoy mcribs because they're shaped like the ribs.
You know, I would have been a good dog. You know,
you make it look like a bone. I'm all in it.
Let's do two eighty eight northbound. They cleared whether that
crap was in the road, and I don't see people
with flat tarts, so it looks like we're okay.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
I was gonna call it to it.

Speaker 10 (15:57):
You know, two eighty eight is so big that it
has its own government, and that's why you pay such
high Texas on those tool lines. I was gonna call
the two eighty eight people. They're nice, but sometimes they
don't know northbound. We're all good to go. Long story

Speaker 9 (24:32):
Whose governor evidently is not the least bit interested in
preventing illegal immigrants from crossing their border. Okay, well, how
much we can do about what New Mexico does. But
there's plenty we can do about what we do. Governor
greg Avid yesterday on Fox talking a little bit about
mass deportation, the help of Texas in that process, and

(24:53):
expansion of the buoies. You know, the bullies that the
Biden demonstration tried to get removed. Well, there's going to
be more more of them in the real grant, this is.

Speaker 31 (25:01):
Going to be a very robust deportation program by the
President Trump, by Hogan mahomean Tomhoman who going to the
borders are listening.

Speaker 5 (25:10):
As you point out earlier.

Speaker 31 (25:11):
There's more than one point four million people who have
been identified who on the removal list, and so that's
a great starting point.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
But I know from from home and I know from.

Speaker 31 (25:21):
Trump that what they really want to do is make
sure that they target all of the criminals who are
inside our country, which is an extraordinarily large number, posing
a danger to people in the United States.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Get those criminals out.

Speaker 31 (25:32):
And Maria, No, we have terrorists who came across the
border who are walking around our country. We have to
have an urgency to identify them, target them, and deport them.
But we're going to do several things at the very
same time. While we're working on deporting the people, we
also have to be equally successful at denying illegal entry.
That includes putting up the barriers and doing everything possible

(25:55):
to prevent anybody from crossing between a port of entry
and then to that marine. We also have to be
very aggressive because even if we have great security of
the border itself, we're going to have the cartels, the
MS thirteen's, the Trenda Raguas that worked their way into
the United States. And so this is going to require

(26:17):
ongoing vigilance by Texas, by other states, as well as
by the Trump administration.

Speaker 32 (26:23):
I think this is a really important point because while
you all are preparing to.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
You know, implement this deportation, we've got.

Speaker 32 (26:30):
More people coming right now as we sit there. So
Texas is reportedly planning to expand those floating buoy border
barriers in anticipation of this migrant search. Head of Trump's inauguration,
tell me what it looks like today at the border,
and you know you keep pushing back. I mean, the
Biden administration tried to get you to remove these booyes
and you held firm. Did they Are they effective in

(26:53):
keeping people out? And where are the plans going now?

Speaker 31 (26:57):
So these bodies were designed by the Border Patrol because
they were in fact effective at denying illegal entry, and
they gave them to Biden to put into the river himself,
and Biden said he wouldn't use him. I said, well,
I'll use them, and I put them in the river.
And as soon as I put them in the river,
Joe Biden foles a lawsuit to put a stop to it.
And I told Joe Biden to stick it that we

(27:18):
are keeping the buoys in the river that have remained
in the river ever since.

Speaker 33 (27:21):
Then.

Speaker 31 (27:22):
What we're doing this morning, we are expanding those buoys
in the river. They are completely effective at denying illegal
entry and a byproduct, they cost less than building a
border wall, which Texas is doing.

Speaker 9 (27:35):
Also, there you go. Update from Governor Abbott five twenty six.
It is time to take a look at your money.
Jeff Bellinger's in this morning.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
And Jimmy, good morning.

Speaker 34 (27:44):
By most measures and Vida is coming off of stellar quarter.
The chip maker's profit nearly doubled. The company said it
still expects to begin shipment so it's Blackwell processor this quarter,
but in Vidio's sales forecast for the current quarter wasn't
quite as bull vi some investors were hoping, and the
company's shares fell and after hours trading they're under some

(28:05):
pressure this morning as well. We'll see how things play
out today on Wall Street. The major averages ended the
midweek session close to where they started. Small advances for
the Dow and the S and P five hundred, a
small decline for the Nasdaq. Right now, the futures are mixed.
S and P and Nasdaq futures are lower. The Dow
futures are up fifty seven points, and when it came
to retailer shares yesterday, investors rewarded Williams Sonoma for a

(28:28):
strong earnings report. Shares of the Home Products chain jump

Speaker 11 (30:25):
Thank you, Jimmy. Five thirty two. Good morning, everybody. Our
top story.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
My plan is to support all of them.

Speaker 35 (30:30):
And I would just say to my Senate colleagues, listen,
let these guys testify.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
Give them a shot.

Speaker 11 (30:36):
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley on Fox's the Trump team continues
lobbying senators on Capitol Hill to confirm his cabinet nominees.

Speaker 36 (30:45):
Jadie Vance is going to be in the Senate with Pete.
Hegseth meeting with Republican senators. He did that with Matt Gates.
And here's the pitch he put it on X. He said,
Donald J. Trump just won a major electoral victory. His
coat tails turned a forty nine to fifty one Senate
to a fifty three to forty seven Senate. He deserves
a cabinet that is loyal to the agenda he was

(31:05):
elected to implement.

Speaker 11 (31:07):
Fox's Peter Doucy. Meantime, the Health Ethics the House Ethics
Panel will not release their report on former Congressman that Gates,
of course, is Trump's Attorney general pick. Will hear from
Gates at six o'clock. Meantime, there's another warning to sanctuary
cities and states. Coming from the incoming borders are we.

Speaker 37 (31:27):
Will find many of these folks.

Speaker 6 (31:28):
They will be arrested, they'll be detained, and they be removed.

Speaker 11 (31:32):
Tom Holman last night, Several Democrat cities and states have
promised to fight the Trump mass deportations, including the Democrat
governor of a border state, Arizona's Katie Hobbs. So what
happens between now and January twentieth, will there be in
fact a major surge of illegals trying to beat Trump
to the White House.

Speaker 38 (31:52):
Him saying he's going to secure the border made de
ter people because they understand this can be a very
long journey to get to the border, and it might
not make it there in time.

Speaker 11 (32:00):
Joey Chester with the Federation for American Immigration Reform told KTRH.
Trump has the track record of getting the job done
at the border. He'll join Jimmy at five point fifty
in Georgia, the illegal alien convicted of killing Lake and
Riley gets life without parole after Riley's family demanded justice.

Speaker 39 (32:18):
And I'll get to explain to people when they ask
me if I've a sibling that I no longer have one,
and not just because she passed away, but because she
got brutally attacked and murdered.

Speaker 11 (32:28):
Lacn's sister Lauren Phillips. Jose Ibarro was convicted on all
ten counts five point thirty four. Now on KTRH, President
Joe Biden approved sending Ukraine anti personnel minds. That's a
reversal of policy. It follows his decision this week on
long range missiles, and it's a move that Senate Republicans
call an escalation of the war in Europe.

Speaker 40 (32:50):
What it will do is try to Trump proof their
foreign policy. But I don't think it's gonna matter. I
don't think it's going to affect it measurably. I think
Trump comes in, gets peace. But this is dangerous.

Speaker 11 (32:59):
Missouri sent Eric Schmidt here. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott
issued his third executive order this week alone and at
protecting you from the Chinese Communist Party now. The latest
order directs the Texas Division of Emergency Management to identify
vulnerabilities in state and local infrastructure and make security recommendations. Meantime,

(33:22):
Texas shrimpers are hurting these days for a couple of reasons,
higher operating costs and the massive import of shrimp from
other parts of the world.

Speaker 41 (33:31):
There is increasing competition from around the world with these big,
giant shrimp farms, and it's.

Speaker 5 (33:36):
Prohibitively costly to go get the shrimp.

Speaker 41 (33:38):
We've still got plenty of shrimp and everybody loves them,
but it's very expensive for them to go out there
and harvest so shrimp.

Speaker 11 (33:44):
Doug Pike with our sister station Sports Talk seven ninety
says let less than ten percent of shrimp consumed here
in the US is caught in the Gulf of Mexico.
With the new legislative session start to starting in January

and dementia prevention.

Speaker 42 (34:03):
Which Governor Dan Patrick says, the Texas Senate will prioritize
the creation of the Dementia Prevention Research Institute, which will
support research and treatment advancements over the next ten years.
Richard Elbin, CEO of the Houston Alzheimer's Association, is encouraged
that this issue is getting more attention.

Speaker 43 (34:19):
Well, we're pleased to hear the state wanting to send
more money into the area of research. We also think
Texan's being affected by Alzheimer's disease currently need care and
support services, and we hope that those dollars will also
be allocated.

Speaker 42 (34:33):
The program will be modeled after the Cancer Prevention Research
Institute of Texas created in two thousand and seven, which

overnight training with Dell futures up fifty six, but S
and P futures in Nasdaq futures are both down. This
morning on Main Street, the new research says that Cyber
Monday has become more popular than either Black Friday or
small business. Did this surprise, researcher ched Rossman.

Speaker 44 (35:02):
It's actually in keeping with the trend we've seen in
recent years, which is this push towards online shopping, and
while that's not a particularly new trend, it has accelerated
in recent years.

Speaker 11 (35:14):
Rossman also told us that gen Z is the most
likely group to shop on Black Friday, but that inflation
is a big factor in what we're spending This year,
only one in four plans to spend more than they
did last year five point thirty seven. Now, the US
may have become more read two weeks ago in the election,
but younger Americans are less religious these days.

Speaker 45 (35:37):
That according to a new raths Musen survey, less than.

Speaker 46 (35:40):
Half of young Americans say they are religious. This just
adds to a growing body of surveys that show young
people increasingly becoming less religious.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
That is Brightbart.

Speaker 45 (35:50):
Political reporter Catherine Hamilton as for why.

Speaker 46 (35:54):

Speaker 26 (49:11):
Interest rates are falling, but as of September twenty third,
twenty twenty four, you can still lock in a six
percent or higher yield with a bond account at public
dot com. That's a pretty big deal because when rates drop,
so can the interest you earn on your cash. A
bond account allows you to lock in a six percent
or higher yield with a diversified portfolio of high yield

(49:33):
and investment grade corporate bonds. So while other people are
watching their return shrink, you can sit back with regular
interest payments. But you might want to act fast because
your yield is not locked in until you invest. The

Speaker 9 (50:40):
Got I say Willie Nelson's version is better. Five to
fifty two is our time here on Houston's Bording News Right.
It's called the Trump Effect. Two point zero illegal border
crossing set to plummet on one condition, and that one condition,
according to the story, is that Trump back up his
campaign rhetoric with actually doing something. Is there any doubt
in your mind that Trump's going to do something. Joey

(51:03):
Chester joins US communications director at Fairy. You don't doubt
for a minute he's going to close up the border.

Speaker 5 (51:07):
Do you.

Speaker 38 (51:09):
I don't doubt it. And look, we have four years
of a prior presidency to prove it.

Speaker 6 (51:16):
You know.

Speaker 9 (51:16):
The Trump effect evidently is the fact that you know
he is going to be inaugurated as president, that there
are people out there who assume what you just said,
that he will he will enforce the border, that he
will make good on his promise of mass deportation, and
therefore they don't believe it's worth it to pay somebody,
you know, a coyote to smuggle them into the country
when they're likely to have to leave.

Speaker 38 (51:40):
Yeah, I think that is an accurate assessment. I think
what's happening right now is we saw caravans that were
forming in Mexico coming from the southern part of the country,
making their way north and trying to get here ahead
of election day. And some of those caravans have continued
post election. But now we're seeing stories about people breaking

(52:02):
off from those caravans because they just don't want to
make the trip. Either they think they're not going to
get in or they think that they're going to get in,
but then Trump's inauguration comes and he starts his mass
deportation process, and they're not going to be here very long. Look,
rhetoric is incredibly powerful. When you send the message to

(52:24):
people who are thinking about coming across the world that
they won't get in, or if they do get in,
that they're going to be deported, you're going to see
a dramatic drop in the number of people even trying
to come in the first place. So rhetoric goes a
very long way before you even start talking about actual
action securing the border and beefing up interior enforcement.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (52:48):
I don't know how much attention Joey that illegal aliens
pay to news cycles and news clips and what's going on.
But we've had the governor New Mexico step up and
say that she's a against mass deportation and tightening the border.
Arizona's governors had pretty much the same thing. California. Los
Angeles just voted again to be a sanctuary city. So

(53:09):
there are areas where enforcement may be more difficult than
others do. If you're legal and you hear about that,
do you continue to try to come? So you just
make sure you don't try to come to Texas.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
Well.

Speaker 38 (53:25):
It's interesting I think that these states are in these
localities will continue to try to be santuary jurisdictions. I
do want to say they are going against everything that
the American people voted for, especially in a place like Arizona.
Arizona voted for Donald Trump. They helped give him the

(53:45):
mandate for fixing the border and beefing up in cheerier enforcement.
California shifted dramatically to the right. Some of these wop
DA's are out of office now and they want to
get for on crime. And so when you see these
places do these things, it is a direct pushback on

(54:06):
the American people, American citizens. It's putting illegal aliens ahead
of American citizens. But really, what's going to happen with
all of this illegal aliens aren't just going to be
okay because they're in a sanctuary jurisdiction. What will just
happen is ICE is going to have to go into
these communities and they are just going to have to
look for these people. And what I think is interesting

(54:29):
is it makes the jobs of ICE agents more dangerous.
Instead of having say, jails that comply with federal immigration
law and work with federal authorities by transferring custody when
illegal alien is led out of prison. Instead, ICE agents
have to put their lives more at risk, which also

(54:49):
makes the community at a higher danger that something goes wrong.
So I just think that's an interesting point that a
lot of these central jurisdictions are missing, is that you're
actually putving real human lives at stake by not complying,
and also you're protecting dangerous criminals like for example, I
just saw out of ICE Boston yesterday there were three

(55:11):
alleged legal alien child rapists busted in Massachusetts. And these
are the types of people that Massachusetts doesn't think that
they should tell ICE about. The ICE should have to
go into the communities to find this people. So it
makes me really mad when you see the American people
give a mandate to fix the border and beef up

(55:32):
interior enforcement, but you see sanctuary jurisdiction is pushing back.

Speaker 9 (55:36):
Well if the same people who support illegal immigration in
many cases support the current justice system which turns criminals
and lets them loose regardless of what they've done with
virtually no bond. Joey Chester, thank you. Communications Director Fair
Joey Chester. It's five point fifty seven.

top story. Texas Senator Ted Cruz is making a bold
prediction Donald Trump will shut the border down by the
end of February, just weeks after taking office.

Speaker 12 (57:48):
The reason I say that with absolute confidence is when
Trump was president, we produced the lowest rate of illegal
immigration in forty five years.

Speaker 11 (57:57):
That was Cruise on Newsmax. Now, the Washington Examiner reports
that the Trump White House will reinstate the term illegal alien,
as opposed to what we've heard from the Biden administration
undocumented immigrants. The illegal alien convicted in the gruesome murder
of Georgia nursing student Lincoln Riley Jose Ebara gets life

(58:17):
without parole after his conviction. Yesterday, Texas Congressman Pat Fallon
blamed the Biden administration for her killing.

Speaker 13 (58:25):
We make sure that our citizen safety is paramount, because
if you're not safe, then you're not free.

Speaker 6 (58:30):
This is a common sense approach, and.

Speaker 13 (58:32):
That's why people are flocking from across the country to
move to Texas.

Speaker 11 (58:35):
Fallon was on Fox Business yesterday. It's six poh three

who met with senators yesterday about his nomination as Attorney General.

I'll be honest with you, I've been focused on what
we got to do to reform the Department of Justice.

Gates on the Hill yesterday with Vice President elect jd. Vance,
The president elect reportedly could create yet another new position

lawmakers continue to file legislation ahead of the January session,

(59:19):
including one that would require the federal government to pay
for educating illegal alien kids its House Bill three seventy one.

Speaker 15 (59:27):
The legislation would essentially require that the federal government reimburse
Texas for educating illegal alien children and our k through schools.

Speaker 45 (59:34):
That's Sydney Henry, managing editor at Texas Scorecard.

Speaker 5 (59:38):
So will it pass. That's kind of hard to tell.

Speaker 15 (59:40):
I would suspect citizens many Republicans in Texas would hope that,
as we have a Republican majority in the House and Senate,
this bill should fly through. However, we've seen in the
past that is not necessarily the case.

Speaker 45 (59:50):

Speaker 17 (01:00:09):
Some customers or electricity would involuntarily be turned off.

Speaker 6 (01:00:13):
And why do we do that.

Speaker 17 (01:00:14):
We do that to manage demand and supply.

Speaker 11 (01:00:17):
Beth Garza with the R Street Institute told KTRH that
those outages might not be widespread and they might not
last more than an hour. This was despite all the
hardening of the grid three years ago. New studies show
that Americans need a six figure salary to own a

Speaker 51 (01:00:36):
Low pay and high rates have made it unaffordable, especially
for first timers.

Speaker 18 (01:00:40):

Speaker 51 (01:00:49):

there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaker 52 (01:01:27):
The expectation is that the Federal Reserve will continue to
reduce interest rates, so that means that interest rates have
peaked and probably will continue to come down.

Speaker 11 (01:01:38):
President elect Trump says he'll put a cap on high

Speaker 9 (01:17:44):
Jesus loves the little children. The question is do the
little children love him back. It is six twenty three
now here in Houston's Borning. He's Dave Welch, joint just
President of the Texas Pastor Council. I'm sure you've seen
surveys like this before, Dave, that that shows younger people
are not very religious, and that numbers seems to be
increasing the not very religious young people.

Speaker 5 (01:18:02):
Are you surprised by iten?

Speaker 33 (01:18:03):
What?

Speaker 5 (01:18:04):
And if not, what do you think the cause.

Speaker 37 (01:18:06):
Of it is?

Speaker 54 (01:18:09):
Well, you know that these surveys are always just you know,
snapshots in a moment of time, in a particular segment,
and when you look down below the surface of a
lot of these things. First of all, religion itself is
is kind of like conservative. It can mean a lot
of things to a lot of people. And when you
look at the essence of what's happening in the culture,

(01:18:30):
for example, and when you look at a subcategory of
those under forty that are married with children, those are
much more inclined to have their faith seriously and attend
church regularly. So the dynamics in the culture of being,
you know, those putting off marriage and staying single the longer,
and as well as the whole out of sulf on

(01:18:52):
deep religious faith, especially Christianity that's occurring in our culture.
It's major media, their elements, I've certainly had their effect.
But you know what I'm hearing from churches all over though,
is really almost the opposite of this that. And when
you look at even what happened in the election, you know,
the younger vote didn't go the way the left anticipated

(01:19:15):
it would, the people returning to the core values and faith,
and they tried to demonize those of evangelical Christianity, particularly
a conservatives by this branding is Christian nationalists didn't work. Uh,
And I think what we're seeing is a lot of
the young people are seeing that those values that come

(01:19:36):
out of the faith that they've been taught and heard
from their their parents is the matters and our church attendance,
of our strong churches that are really teaching the word
of God as boldly are growing.

Speaker 9 (01:19:52):
I'm curious have you found because there there are you know,
fair amount of parents out there that have not exposed
their kids for whatever reason, whether there are two bus
think that they don't want to take the time or
they're not religious themselves, have not exposed their children to church.
Have you found that there's an effective way when those
young people become a little bit older to attract them
to come to church, to try it when they never

(01:20:13):
grew up with that as a tradition in their home.

Speaker 54 (01:20:18):
Well, certainly, I think, And that's where a lot of
the different different youth group efforts of outreach, of doing
events and activities that offer activities kids that attract them.
And then but also it really comes down to that.

Speaker 5 (01:20:33):
They're lacking meaning.

Speaker 54 (01:20:34):
And I think that's the confusion in our culture, and
these kids that are brought up impounded with this lack
of absolutes and told that they're biological accidents, and at
some point in life that against the really settle in
that that there's something more than that. And that's where
the churches, and I said, so many that I know,

(01:20:55):
are really doing effective work at reaching those kids throughout
the school programs of the other things to introduce them
to the reality in our view of course, and that
they are creations of God with a design and a
designer and a purpose and that means something that helps
help give them a direction of life that transcends what's

(01:21:16):
happening in the culture.

Speaker 9 (01:21:17):
Yeah, well, we know the young men are getting more
and more attracted to it. They're becoming more conservative. Maybe
eventually young women will follow. Dave Welch, thank you as always,
President of the Texas Pastor Council, Dave Welch. It's six
twenty six. It's time to take a look at your money.

Trump doesn't need to come up with new policies, so
we can expect to see faster results.

Speaker 43 (01:28:26):
I don't think there's been a better time to think
about effective treatments and ultimately a cure. So it's a
good time to think about investing in research and believing
that we're going to see a relatively short period of

Government bloked. He just hated it, and he felt there
were many departments run by the government that should not
even exist. So he came right out and talked about
which department should stay and which department should go. And
I have to wonder with the latest posting on x
of Elon mus saying that Milton Friedman was the best

(01:34:52):
and then sharing a video of Milton Freeman talking about,
you know, what government agencies should and should not exist?
If maybe that's going to be part of the template
for this new department. For example, Milton Freeman said the
Department of Agriculture and the Congreerce Department should both be
gone right off the bat, but we should keep in
place the Department of Defense. He also said the Department

(01:35:14):
of Education should be abolished as well as the Department
of Energy, except for the parts that deal with nuclear
which should be moved under the Defense Department. Milton Freeman also,
when asked about the Department of Health and Human Services,
said there is some room for public health activities to
prevent the contagion, in other words, COVID or something like that,
but he argued that half of the agency should be eliminated.

(01:35:38):
He died back in two thousand and six, by the way,
but also said the Department of Housing and Urban Development
should go, saying it had done a tremendous amount of harm.
Went on to say the Department of the Interior could
remain in place until the federal government sells off all
the land it owns, with the exception of the land
its buildings sit on, and then it should be scrapped.
The Department of Justice must remain, according to Friedman, as

(01:35:59):
well as the State Department and the Treasury, but the
Department of Labor and the Department of Transportation, in his words,
both unnecessary. Maybe that's what we're gonna see coming up,

It's just the fact that he has been nominated as
Health in Human Services secretary has brought up a whole

(01:38:44):
lot of debates of what things he have said in
the past about a variety of different things, including fluoride.
There are people who think he's a nut because he
asks whether or not we really should have fluoride in
our water supply.

Speaker 5 (01:38:57):
More in that story.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz predicts Donald Trump will undo all

I live in Pasadena, Sharptown Southwest.

Speaker 8 (01:40:32):
Next on the ten time saving traffic on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 9 (01:40:38):
Yeah, that floride stuff. Did you get floride treatments when
you were a kid? I had fluoride treatments. I'm so alive.
I think I'm okay. Well, some don't think I'm okay,
but I think I think I'm okay. The debate has
come up because RFK juniors made some claims about floride
and whether or not it should be in our water supply.
So here's a doctor to comment on. His name is

(01:41:01):
doctor Vinni Persaud uh Persad, actually doctor Vinni Persad here
he is talking about floride.

Speaker 50 (01:41:08):
So the purpose of my piece is really to argue
and I'll come to floride is really to argue that
you can't be a kook if there are many European
nations already doing the policy that you suggest. So I
treat RFK like I treat anybody. Let's not look at
him as a person. Let's look at his ideas and
go idea by idea. RFK Junior, like a lot of
people might have a bunch of ideas that are really

(01:41:31):
good and promising, and maybe a few ideas that are debatable,
and a few ideas that are bad. But we should
be able to take the good from what he's saying,
and you know, question him on the other things. So
let's take floride in the water the first litmus test.
Do other nations take the floride.

Speaker 5 (01:41:44):
Out of the water.

Speaker 50 (01:41:45):
There are many nations, including Germany and other European nations,
that do not put floride in the water, So there
is no global consensus that you should put floride in
the water. There's some other pieces about fluoride that are
interesting to me. One, when we originally put floride in
the water, there were lots of cavities and carries among children,
and the idea of putting florida in the water is
that pregnant women have drink water, they'll take up fluorid,

(01:42:08):
their babies will be born with stronger enamel, and they'll
be less likely to get cavities.

Speaker 5 (01:42:12):
What we have seen over the.

Speaker 50 (01:42:13):
Course of the last forty fifty sixty seventy years is
there is a reduction in childhood cavities in nations that
have added florid to the water and in nations that haven't.

Speaker 5 (01:42:22):
Added florida to the water.

Speaker 50 (01:42:23):
The most recent Conchrone Review, which is a prestigious evidence
based association guidance on this topic, says, we don't know
for sure what the absolute benefit is of florid in.

Speaker 5 (01:42:34):
Drinking water on children's cavities.

Speaker 50 (01:42:36):
We also know that by putting florid in the water
there are lots and lots of people who are exposed
to it who may not be the beneficiaries of the
reduction in cavities. The other difference, we use a lot
more florid containing toothpaste now than we used to, and
so that's a way in which cavities are getting better
and florida is getting to teeth anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:42:53):
Now.

Speaker 50 (01:42:54):
In terms of the questions about does it affect cognition
in IQ. That's a very tough obviously a tough question
to tackle.

Speaker 5 (01:43:00):
I think Robert F.

Speaker 50 (01:43:01):
Kennedy is correct that a very high dose as Florida
is in neurotoxin, at the doses people get exposed to,
does it have an impact on cognition. I've looked through
a bunch of studies. My team is going to do
a review of this. I'm not sure yet, but I
think the point is if Robert F.

Speaker 11 (01:43:15):
Kennedy comes in and he.

Speaker 50 (01:43:17):
Says Municipal Water Society municipal water plants should be discouraged
from putting in florid, we all know what's going to happen, Megan,
the same thing that happened when Trump said we should
reopen schools. All of the red districts will take the
Florida out of the water, and all of the liberal
districs will probably put more floride in the water.

Speaker 5 (01:43:33):
You know, they might even you might even add florid
to the water. Yeah, don't do that.

Speaker 50 (01:43:37):
And so I think that you'll get us very split,
a split view. But people who want to fearmonger and
say RF Junior is going to come in and take
the florid out of your water. I think that's not
what's going to happen. And I also think there's a
legitimate debate here. There's a reason why some countries are
not putting it in, and we should have that debate
and not call him a kook for bringing up the topic.

Speaker 5 (01:43:55):
Amen, it's worth it's worth talking about it. Definitely.

Speaker 9 (01:44:00):

We are gonna see the border secure and it's not

Speaker 12 (01:47:00):
We're going to see it in January and February of
next year.

Speaker 11 (01:47:04):
Strong words from Texas Senator Ted Cruz on Newsmax as
President elect Donald Trump's mass deportations will get under way
in January. Meantime, ICE in the sanctuary city of Boston
announced the arrest of two illegals charged with raping kids
in Massachusetts. They also arrested a third who was convicted
of raping a child in Brazil. The illegal alien convicted

Speaker 11 (01:47:41):
Texas Congressman Pat Fallon's reaction on Fox Business on Capitol Hill,
the House Ethics Panel does not agree to release support
on former Florida Congressman Matt Gates.

Speaker 14 (01:47:51):
I'm looking forward to a hearing. Folks have been very supportive.
They've been saying we're going to get a fair process.
So it's a great day of momentum for the Trump
vance administration.

Speaker 11 (01:48:02):
Gates was on Capitol Hill meeting with senators about his
nomination as Attorney General, and Pete Hegseth, the Defense Secretary nominee,
will be out there today. Fox Business reports that the
Business in the president elect is considering creating a new
position dedicated to cryptocurrency, a crypto zar, so to speak.

(01:48:22):
Here at home, a Texas lawmaker has proposed legislation that
would require the federal government to pay Texas to educate
illegal alien children. Sidney Henry with the Texas Scorecard says,
it's a whole new ballgame.

Speaker 15 (01:48:34):
As Ibit pointed out, we have kids come in from
more than one hundred and five different countries across the globe,
and they want to be educated in our schools, and
that requires a whole different language set that not every
school is equipped to provide.

Speaker 11 (01:48:45):
Governor Abbott has expressed support for the bill, but there's
no guarantee that the federal government would agree to pay
anything at all. There's a new report from URKAT that
has some worried about a repeat of the February freeze
from twenty twenty one.

Speaker 16 (01:49:00):
News is even if we did have another freeze, it
wouldn't be as bad as twenty twenty one.

Speaker 17 (01:49:04):
Those outages were lengthy and we're not able to be rotated.
I don't believe that situation would exist even if we
had that same weather.

Speaker 16 (01:49:13):
Bet Garza with the R Street Institute told KTRH Texas
improvements after the freeze have gone a long way, things.

Speaker 17 (01:49:19):
Like stricter weatherization requirements with higher penalties for non compliance.
That's a powerful motivator for power plants.

Speaker 5 (01:49:27):
Garza said.

Senior economic analyst for Bank Rate Mark Hamrick says consumers
should start to feel some relief since the fat has

And that really does feed on through things like credit

Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceal

chilly this morning, though.

Speaker 28 (01:59:42):
Terry, Uh, yeah, I would call it very chilly because
these temperatures are about fifteen to twenty degrees colder than yesterday.
So a cool morning, a fall like afternoon, but not
to worry. There's a little bit of I guess I'll
call it springtime. Temperatures in the eighties by early next week.

(02:00:04):
We are going to be steadily warm, warming up between
now and Sunday. No rain though, just sunshine. Upper seventies,
upper sixties, I should say, to low seventies this afternoon,
and it's still cool tonight, in the forties overnight, but
tomorrow load to mid seventies. Saturday temperatures mid upper seventies,
still quite pleasant. Then Sunday and Monday Not only is

(02:00:26):
it warmer, we're going to feel a little more humidity,
not unbearable, but you'll notice the warm up load to
mid eighties for high Sunday and Monday.

The Great State of Texas is going to help with
the mass deportation of illegal aliens, and one of the
ways the state is offering to help is by basically
allowing the federal government to use a piece of property

Morning News. I didn't know the state owned a ranch
in Star County, but I know that now. Texas Land
Commissioner Don Buckingham joins us. Good morning, Commissioner, Welcome to
Houston's Morning News. How did you happen to acquire a
ranch in Star County?

Speaker 59 (02:03:00):
Well, good morning to you and all of your listeners.

Speaker 11 (02:03:02):
Thank you for having me on.

Speaker 59 (02:03:03):
We actually steward thirteen million acres across the great state
of Texas, so this is something that we do all
day long, every day.

Speaker 54 (02:03:10):
Well.

Speaker 9 (02:03:11):
As I recall, though, with this particular ranch, the ranch
owner that you bought it from wasn't being very cooperative
as far as building a Texas border wall. So I
assume that the reason why the state bought the ranch
is so that they could eventually put a border wall there.

Speaker 11 (02:03:26):
You're exactly right.

Speaker 59 (02:03:27):
We were approached right after I was sworn in almost
two years ago by the Texas Facilities Commission, which of
course is the entity that's building the state wall, standing
in the gap when the federal government has been abdicating
their constitutional duty to defend our border for the last
four years. So they asked, and they said, hey, we've
got this problematic landowner. She's not allowing law enforcement on

(02:03:48):
the property. Of course, once the bad guys know they
have a law enforcement free zone, more bad things happen
on that property. And she was also refusing to let
the wall be built. And they said, hey, don can
you help us. We'd like to get this wall up.
We want to get moving, we want to get this
obstacle out of the way. And I said absolutely. So
we struck her a fair deal for her ranch, purchased it,

(02:04:10):
closed a couple of weeks ago, actually within twenty four hours,
had the right of the way for the wall cleared,
sign sealed, and delivered with the Facilities Commission, and construction
of the wall is undergoing right now.

Speaker 9 (02:04:21):
Well, and there's evidently maybe going to be more than
a wall there, because you've offered it up to the
federal government, to the Trump administration. When the mass deportations begin,
how would that work?

Speaker 59 (02:04:32):
Well, we were just super excited. I was sitting around
with my team as always, we are, you know, doing
everything we can to get complete operational control of the border.
In fact, earlier about a year ago, we declared three
islands in the Rio Grandet granting As Texas granting law
enforcement access to them for the first time, and then
of course, through Operation Flat Top with the Texas Military

(02:04:52):
Department in DPS, we got them cleared, got the wire up,
and got complete operational control of those So every day,
all day, we're looking at how we can make our
communities safer and get our border secure.

Speaker 28 (02:05:04):
And so we thought, well, hey, we have a really
good deal.

Speaker 11 (02:05:06):
We have fourteen hundred acres.

Speaker 59 (02:05:08):
I actually happen to own another ranch just a couple
of miles away, so we have four thousand acres total
in Star County. And we said, well, let's just ask
the Trump team if they need a deportation center to
get these violent criminals who've been harming our sons and
daughters out of our country.

Speaker 9 (02:05:23):
You know, I would have asked you how the community
is reacting to the news, But based on the election,
I don't think I probably have to start coming to
start voted Republican for the first time, what one hundred
and fifty years.

Speaker 59 (02:05:36):
Yes, isn't that exciting and such a clear message that
people are tired of the lawlessness. You know, our border
communities are beautiful. The hospitality down along the border, especially
in the valley, is just amazing. These lovely people have
had their rights and fringe. They felt like the federal
government has forgotten them, they don't care about them. And

(02:05:56):
we're losing too many of our children. I mean Lake
and Riley, Joscelyn Nungary, I mean, there is no excuse
that these criminals have been allowed to harm our sons
and daughters over and over repetitive, heinous crimes. We want
these violent criminals out of our country as fast as
we can get them out.

Speaker 9 (02:06:14):
President Trump has obviously not been sworn in yet, but

Speaker 9 (02:22:36):
You know gently used, previously owned, you know, out of
the box, returned kind of stuff. And the number one reason,
as you can imagine, is that they are generally speaking, cheaper,
and let's face it, we're all kind of working with
the you know, limited budgets these days. Amazon commissioned to

(02:22:56):
study by a group called Wakefield Fund that fifty nine
percent will check for the pre owned version of a
product while doing online shopping. First younger generation in particular,
leading the charge and shopping for used items. In its
study with USA Today got an exclusive first look at
seventy nine percent of gen Zers and seventy five percent
of millennials are searching for pre loved products. Is that

(02:23:18):
what they're calling them out compared to sixty one percent
of Gen xers and only thirty two percent of Baby boomers,
So the chances of you getting a secondhand gift from
a baby boomer boomer much much less than other generations.
The study also found that parents are more likely to
shop pre owned for their kids. Seventy two percent of

(02:23:39):
parents shopping pre owned, is compared to fifty two percent
of consumers without kids. Thirty eight percent of the parents
said they believe the items were unique, or twenty five
percent of the parents said they had higher quality. Maybe
it has something to do to with comman kids go through,
especially toys. You know, they play with them like crazy
for a few weeks after Christmas, and then they don't
play with them anymore. So maybe they're tired of wasting

(02:24:01):
money on brand new toys. They'd better just go ahead
and get something that's gently used, and note that the
kid's gonna get tired of it. As far as the
regifting thing, I mean, I think the only way you
really kind of get away with that without anybody realizing
that that's what happened is like, let's say, because gift
cards are very you know, very much what people like
to get because you don't have to put a ton

(02:24:21):
of thought into it, and you can just get a
gift card for a restaurant or what have you. And
it's easy to do. And sometimes if you ever gotten
a gift card you don't like. But if you get
a gift card you don't like, I mean, it's obviously valuable.
You can hang on to it and give it to
somebody who would like it as a gift and they'll
never know you didn't pay for it. Seven forty Time
for traffic and whether.

Speaker 10 (02:24:41):
Together McDonald's gift certificates. I'm guessing they do, Sky Mike
and mcgrib comes back. What December the second, right, do
something like that, December the fifth second, somewhere in there.

Speaker 5 (02:24:51):
But you don't forget.

Speaker 9 (02:24:52):
You can get your half gallon of big Ribs sauce
online starting next week.

Speaker 10 (02:24:57):
Don't forget your little traffic guy, Chris the hinter Let's
go north Smelt. We got the suckings now westbound aulting Westfield.
It's two left lanes blocked backed up now from JFK.
It's easy to spell, tough to get through in an
extra eleven minutes going that way, and then eastbound and
Imperial Valley.

Speaker 5 (02:25:16):
That's a left line missing.

Speaker 10 (02:25:17):
If you had a grand march at your wedding two
ninety you're going to drag around uplaster. Yeah, into Eldridge Parkway,
Katie Freeway. Flip those visors down, we need them. Terry inbound.
That's backups now from Grham Parkway to Barker Cyperus. Not
bad for the Katie West park slow downs right around
fourteen sixty four Southwest Freeway dragging it at the fountains
Darcy from Rosenberg. I think she's had a banana stricker

(02:25:39):
before southbound Graham Parkway. Right around Highway six exit, they're
missing a left lane some kind of roadwork and Terry
checking around the golf ball eastbound. We're nice and slow
at Kirkandall, which is fun to say. I bet you
can't spell it right now, I'm in the classic GMC
traffic center.

Speaker 5 (02:25:56):
They ain't spelled like kirkan Doll. I'll tell you that.

Speaker 9 (02:25:58):

Okay, all right, I'm out. I'm leaving you a long.

It's just turkey and pecan pie for me on Thanksgiving Day.

Speaker 5 (02:26:32):
All right?

Speaker 28 (02:26:32):
Well, what a fine stretch of weather. Beautiful morning, little
chilly at the moment. Grab the jacket, you'll need it
through the morning hours. A little more comfortable though later
today upper sixties, still oak seventies, very late November ish
like it should be. But it gets warmer tomorrow into
early next week. No rain through Tuesday, load to mid seventies. Tomorrow,

(02:26:55):
mid to upper seventies. Saturday, Sunday and Monday temperatures are
going to be in plow to mid eighties, and then
it does begin to cool back down just a little
bit before Thanksgiving, just a little bit.

This is Houston's morning News brought to you by New
South Windows Solutions.

Speaker 9 (02:27:25):
So we haven't heard from Senator John Kennedy in a while,
but he he presided over a Senate hearing. I think
it was the day before yesterday, and the hearing was
about credit card fees, the fees the credit cards charged
small businesses and merchants to use their credit cards. And
you could tell that the Senator Kennedy was a little

(02:27:45):
perplexed by why the fees are so high and why
credit card interest rates are so high. I'll share what
he said in just a moment, But first we've got
traffic and weather together. That starts with you Sky Hi.

Speaker 5 (02:27:55):
All right, let's go to the east side again. We've
got to East Freeway.

Speaker 10 (02:27:58):
We cleared that wreck over the Sandra Center River Ridge
inbound outbound.

Speaker 5 (02:28:01):
You got the roadwork by the truck stops. That's a
big muddle mess.

Speaker 10 (02:28:04):
Justin from Galveston just gave me a wreck on the
Golf Freeway southbound at the Texas City Y give me
the eight o'clock report and.

Speaker 28 (02:28:19):
Big piece of equipment on the back of it, just
at the downtown Jackson Street exit.

Speaker 10 (02:28:24):
All right, that's the East texaxit to the ballpark. I'm
Skywike on the classic pot GMC traffic.

Remember the rule of three can make the day better.
On news Radio seven forty KTRH seven fifty four time
here in Houston's porn News. So Senate hearing day before
yesterday where they were calling in people from Visa MasterCard
and saying, hey, what's with all these I fees that
you're charging retailers and merchants and wire credit card interest

(02:29:46):
rates so crazy high. Here's a little bit of Senator
John Kennedy urging the credit card people to figure things
out before they have to come in and start regulating
them more.

Speaker 6 (02:29:59):
Let me just say this to.

Speaker 61 (02:30:02):
All of you, but particularly our friends at Visa and MasterCard,
and I mean that I don't know how it would
vote if this bill came up today.

Speaker 5 (02:30:17):
Visa and MasterCard.

Speaker 61 (02:30:20):
And the folks the retailers need to sit down and
work this out.

Speaker 5 (02:30:29):
You need to sit down and work this.

Speaker 61 (02:30:33):
Out, because if you don't, Congress is going to do something.
I'm not sure what we're going to do, but Visa
and MasterCard, when we get through with you, you could
end up looking like either the Post Office or the

(02:30:54):
Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (02:30:58):
I'm not sure we'll get it right. And I'm not
a big fan of the European model.

Speaker 61 (02:31:08):
That we're seeing the cost right now in Europe of
their pension for regulation. But what I do care is
the fact that the high prices in this country are
gutting the American people like a fish, and we're trying

(02:31:29):
to address it. And my strong advice to you is
to sit down and try to work this out and
come up with a solution that's fair for the consumer,
fair for the retailer, but also respects Visa and Mastercord.

Speaker 9 (02:31:45):
All Right, you've been warned and come up with a solution,
or we will come up with a solution for you
and you might not like it. Hey all, have a
