Speaker 3 (00:44):
First, let's check out that morning. You should be a
prescription drugs stake. We could probably work this out.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I hope I never see a psychiatrist. Let's go to
you know what, it's so weird. I'm looking on my
little papels pocket radar, and I'm seeing all these little
spackles on the south side. They can't possibly be real.
We'll talk to Terry in ten minutes, but so far,
freeways are looking good. It's not very Monday like. In fact,
I have the roadwork on the north Sam We'll even
getting through Aldan Westfield just fine. Used to have the
(01:10):
lane blockage, used to have the lane blockage the other
way at Imperial Valley, it's right lanes both ways.

Speaker 7 (01:51):
Good morning everybody. Five o two on kg RHR top story.
Speaker 8 (01:55):
We have reached an agreement.
Speaker 7 (01:58):
Treasury Secretary Scott Best and as you slept, announcing details
of a trade deal between the US and China.
Speaker 8 (02:05):
By ninety day falls and substantially moved down the tariff levels.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
Both sides will lower tarish by one hundred and fifteen
percent after two days of talks in Geneva. Elsewhere, the
President is making a move to lower prescription drug costs
by as much as eighty percent.
Speaker 9 (02:24):
President Trump said he's going to be signing an executive
order to cut drug prices. He said, I will be
instituting a most Favored Nations policy, whereby the United States
will pay the same price as the nation that pays
the lowest price anywhere in the world.
Speaker 7 (02:41):
Boxes Jill Nato there and investors are thrilled with all
of this. Down Futures are up more than nine hundred
points by vote three. China maybe backing down on trade,
but they continue to spy on us from within our
own country. Stanford University recently uncovered a group of Chinese
agents posing as students. China expert Gordon Chang says, we've
(03:03):
allowed this to go on for too long.
Speaker 10 (03:05):
We know that Chinese consular officials have been coursing Chinese
students to steal data. We know that Ministry of State
security agents on our country have been doing the same thing.
We can get these agents and diplomats off of our soil.
Speaker 7 (03:19):
He's calling for stronger sanctions against the Chinese hope for
peace in Europe. This morning, Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky has agreed
to meet face to face with Russia's Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
On Thursday, Texas Congressman Michael McCall told CBS he's hopeful,
but at the same time skeptical.
Speaker 11 (03:38):
We want peace, but not piece at any price, because
peace at any price is like appeasement like we saw
with Chamberlain and Hitler, and then that's unacceptable.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
On truth social the president posted that Putin wants to
quote negotiate a possible end to the blood bath in
the Middle East. Hams says it will release the last
known living American hostage helden Gaza Eton. Alexander was taken
hostage near the border there on October seventh, two years ago.
Despite all of his wins, Trump's poll numbers, according to
(04:10):
the mainstream media at least, are down. But can you
actually trust the numbers you're being given.
Speaker 12 (04:16):
The reality is Trump is performing well on the issues
that matter the most.
Speaker 13 (04:20):
His approval and crime at jump fifteen points since March
of twenty twenty four. They're not hyping that aspect of it.
They're hyping the personality because they have an agenda.
Speaker 12 (04:28):
Political analyst Laed Vidick says, the mainstream media polls are
just designed to fuel the radical Democrat base.
Speaker 13 (04:34):
If they can point to polling data that says President
Trump has low pool ratings, that might motivate their supporters
to make donations to volunteer.
Speaker 12 (04:42):
David says, these polls showing that Trump is supposedly unpopular
are really all Democrats have to run on. Right now,
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
It's now five oh five.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
The New Jersey Democrat congressmen who's stormed an ice facility
may face arrest for their stunt. Now they they were assaulted.
Video tells a different story.
Speaker 14 (05:03):
The Department of Homeland Security pushed back on statements made
by these lawmakers, writing on X quote, let's check the tape.
The federal agency says body camera video on scene shows
at least one of the three House Democrats shoving and
elbowing federal officers.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
CB Cotton reporting that videos on our Facebook and X
page borders our Tom Homan is calling the Dems out,
saying they went too far.
Speaker 15 (05:28):
There's a proper way to conduct oversite. There's a way
to make appointments going to facility. You don't break into
facility when a bus full of criminals are being brought
into that facility.
Speaker 7 (05:39):
Meantime, the Trump administration is hoping to supercharge deportations by
getting help from local cops. Former Ice agent Victor Avilas says,
the real problem is democrat obstruction.
Speaker 16 (05:49):
It's the locals that know the neighborhood's the best and
all the federal government is asking is notify us. And
that's what the cooperation that the Trump administration is trying
to get across the nation. The problem, obviously is the
sanctuary city and sanctuary states.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
DHS has signed almost six hundred agreements with stage and
local law enforcement. The President's Big Beautiful Bill lays the
groundwork for making the twenty seventeen tax cuts permanent, so
a majority leader John Thune says, failing to pass this
is not an option.
Speaker 17 (06:18):
If we're going to use this two years for our majorities,
hopefully for to the ultimate advantage, we got to be
able to work together in a way that enables us
to get a lot of that agenda cross the finish line.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
The package also includes an increased child tax credit. Five
oh sixty Astros beat the Red six to nothing. They
host Kansas City tonight pregame at six on Sports Talk
seven ninety, First pitch at seven to ten on seven
ninety in KTRH. Meantime, HPD is still investigating the social
media death threat made on Lance mccullor's junior this weekend.
Speaker 18 (06:51):
After all he's done for the city, for this team.
The fact that we have to talk about that in
my office. I got kids too, and I'm a really
drives me nuts.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Disgusting and angry.
Speaker 7 (07:03):
Manager Joe a spot on mccullor's Got the Thread after
lasting less than an inning on Saturday night.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Disgusting, beyond belief, disgusting nor words.
Speaker 7 (07:13):
I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and traffic station KTRH.
Speaker 19 (07:19):
I live in the Heights.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I live in Spring, kingw Next on the ten your
faster commute on seven KTRH.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
So there might be a new Air Force one on
the way. Five o seven are time here in Houston's
boring news. As we get started on this Monday morning.
Everybody have a good Mother's day, Okay, good, all right,
cutter the country Cutter yesterday denying reports that the Trump
administration is preparing to accept a luxury jet from the
(07:50):
Royal Family in the coming days. It is a Boeing
seven forty seven eight jumbo jet.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
No word on.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
What equipment it already has on board, just as supposedly
the Royal family was going to donate the Boeing seven
forty seven. I mean, how rich do you have to
be to buy and donate Boeing seven forty seven jumbo jets?
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Right?
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Going to donate it to President Trump for use is
air Force one, and then donated to his Presidential Library
Foundation so he could continue to use it after leaving office,
presumably as Trump Force one. The country says, well, these
reports are not exactly accurate. It's not really we're not
comfortable with the word gift. Well, if you're not charging
(08:39):
for it, and you're just saying, yeah, this is yeah,
here's the keys enjoy, then it is. It's most decidedly
a gift. I guess the question would be why why
would you give something so valuable to the President of
the United States And what sort of favor are you
trying to curry in return for doing it? Although I'm
(09:02):
much less worried about something like that with President Trump
than I am about many other people who have held
that office, his predecessor in particular, who I would think,
you know, a brand new jumbo jet would buy you
all sorts of favors. But here's the thing, even if
it turns out to be true, even if they do
accept the jet, there's going to be a tremendous amount
(09:24):
of money that would have to be spent and work
done before you could ever use it as air Force one.
For one thing, if it's coming from a foreign country,
they're going to have to pretty much tear that thing
apart in, aren't they. They're gonna have to look for bugs,
and you know, listening devices and video devices and all
sorts of things on board the plane. Got to make
sure it's scure, it's national security. And then presuming it
(09:47):
is secure, after you've taken it all apart, you've got
to put it all back together again. And when you do,
you have to make it it's part of national security.
It's a flying fortress. It is a it is a basically,
it is a flying white house for in the event
of nuclear war. It has to have all those types
of satellite capabilities. And all the other things that go
(10:09):
along with it. It has to be virtually undetectable. Did
you'd have to spend I would think billions of dollars
on a free plane. It wouldn't be free when you
got done with it making it what it needed to be,
not to mention how long it might take to do it,
So I don't know how practical this gift is. Five
to ten. Time for traffic and weather together as we
check out the drive again. Skymike's here.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Let's go right to our tip line seven one three
two one two tips heyd.

Cleveland's window sitting steel on the freeway.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
All right, that's looking like some real bad news. Is
a completely shut down. I know you've got a feeder
road there to get around, but a lot of people
from Liberty County actually have a choice of Cleveland or Dayton,
so Liberty County, Tarkington.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Let's reroute to Dayton this morning.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Okay? Straight here means.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
No low humidity right, yes, only sixty degrees out there
right now. We might as well enjoy it, because this
is going to change in a hurry.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
It sure is.
Speaker 23 (12:14):
The heat and humidity is creeping its way back into
southeast Texas. We would expect that, but it's going to
happen very quickly. So today really is a nice day,
a low humidity day. Temperatures in the low to mid
eighties this afternoon, so very comfortable. But the southerly winds
kick in and high pressure strengthens over Texas, and with
(12:37):
that comes much warmer temperatures tomorrow mid eighties to mid nineties,
and those mid eighties will be near the coast. That's
where the more comfortable temperatures will be Wednesday in the
upper eighties to mid nineties. Thursday and Friday, we're still dry.
We've got lots of sunshine, and everybody's going to see.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
Their temperatures in the nineties.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Temperature right now sixty at your official severe weather station.

Morning News team.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
All the info you need to take on the day
five twenty is our time here on Houston's Morning News.
All right, so one of my I'm gonna leave with
my ace this morning. I'm just I'm gonna throw an
ace out there. One of my favorite pieces of audio
comes from actually CNN. You may have heard over the
weekend there was a hushally well, there was a fight,
that's for sure. You had a bunch of Democrats who
(13:33):
showed up at an ICE detention center in Newark, and
you've got the mayor who ended up getting arrested. You've
got other members of government who are there pushing and
shoving with Ice while while they're bringing in these bus
loads of the illegals, and some of them very dangerous
people by the way, they're interfering. They stormed the Ice
(13:56):
detention facility, claiming that they had a right to see
what was going on there, and they put a lot
of security and jeopardy in doing so. It ended up
causing arrests. The one of the assistant secretaries for for
Homeland Security on CNN. I had to set the anchor straight.
I'm gonna share that audio with you. Coming up next first, though,
(14:18):
we've got traffic and weather together with Sky Mike all right.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Let's check out that problem on Cleveland area. This is
coming out of Liberty County. Let's see it's on this
side of the bridge, so that's gonna be Montgomery County
on the scene.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Here more tip line, let's go yet. Mike Alex from
Parking Too, Dude.
Speaker 19 (14:33):
RCK on the now southbound just before Fostoria.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Looks like the four vehicles involved.
Speaker 22 (14:38):
One looks like it rolled over entire freeway shut down.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
All right, that's southbound. That's exactly what I needed. That's lineage.
Let me uptake that for the pretty ladies on TV
and the rest of the media.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Fantastic job that is.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
I'm sixty nine east text coming out of Cleveland southbound
Postoria Road.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
That's all lanes. Let's go one more tip line, dude.
Speaker 22 (14:58):
It's Kevin from Vanbury is going to reach sure everybody
Mary Christmas. In May thirty eight, south bound lanes and
radio palms are reopened.
Speaker 24 (15:06):
You're on the new.
Speaker 22 (15:07):
Bridge, so thank you for being patient, drift safe, hold
on today.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Outstanding.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Also bananas tickers David tom Ball, Shane from Tarkington and
Roy from Tarkington representing this morning. I'm skylike on the
USA Arbresorts dot Com.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Traffic center from r KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four
hour weather center sunny and warm. Looks like about eighty
four for today, mostly sunny, wendy, even warmer ninety five
tomorrow Wednesday, partly clotting near record high temperatures. We're looking
for high right about ninety six. Temperature right now currently
is sixty at your officials severe weather station News Radio
(15:42):
seven forty k TRH. You say ninety five, I did,
might still get used to it. Clip's gonna be here
all summer. Here is clip.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Thank you. Jimmy.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
HPD finally starts cracking down on after hours clubs. President
Trump calls DEM's world class losers because they threw the
tant over that plane that is going to be given
to the President that Jimmy was talking about earlier. And
the new Trump Burger location opened up on Chimney Rock
this weekend. Jimmy complete with a Trump impersonator. I gotta
(16:12):
try that place.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 7 (16:14):
At the latest news anytime at KTRH dot com. Our
next update is at five point thirty Pasadena.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Living clearly reliable KTRH traffic and weather.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Next on the ten.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
All right, Democrats losing their minds Over the weekend in Newark,
New Jersey, ICE detention facility, they decided that basically they're
rating to joint.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
YEP.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
They're they're trying to deal with dangerous illegal aliens, which
they have every right to do. ICE has every right
to do. And the mayor of Newark shows up along
with a couple of congressmen and they decide that we
need to go in and we need to see what's
going on in here right now. So they're they're they're
mixing it up with ICE agents. The whole thing caught
(17:01):
on camera. The mayor of Newark ends up getting arrested.
The congressman ends up speaking out about the whole thing.
His name is Robert Menendez Junior. So here's some comments
from Robert Mendez Junior and some response by the way
from DHS Assistant Secretary Trisha McLaughlin talking to CNN about
(17:25):
what went down and the acres having a hard time
believing that this guy actually deserved to get arrested.
Speaker 25 (17:30):
What happened that these members of Congress, including the mayor
as well, and a mob of protesters as there was
a bus full of detainees going through the gate. They
stormed the gate and actually entered the first security checkpoint.
This put law enforcement at risk, and this actually put
the detainees as well at risk. If any official, including
(17:50):
these members of Congress, want to enter the facility and
take a tour, DHS is more than accommodating. But just
because you're a member of Congress does not mean you
can break the law, trespass, put law enforcement at risk,
and storm in the detention facility. I haven't yet to
hear anyone on this network actually talk about who is
in this detention facility. There are members of MS thirteen,
(18:13):
known terrorists, murders, child rapists, there are some of the
worst of the worst in this detention facility. And I'm
still very confused why these Democrats are so held ben
on getting these heinous actors out of this facility when
we have the proper, permitting. And actually in that press conference,
those members of Congress actually noted the great conditions of
(18:34):
this facility that our ice enforcement officers so bravely operate.
Speaker 26 (18:39):
So as you said here today and in your statement,
that they stormed the gate and broke into the detention center.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
According to the statement.
Speaker 26 (18:48):
Was anybody else arrested other than the mayor of Newer there.
Speaker 25 (18:52):
Were multiple people arrested and victor. I think that we
should let viewers know there will likely be more arrests coming.
We actually have body camera footage of some of these
members of Congress assaulting our ice enforcement officers, including body
slamming a female ICE off officer, so we will be
showing that to viewers very shortly.
Speaker 26 (19:13):
Do you see a video of members of Congress body
slamming ice that's correct, officials.
Speaker 6 (19:19):
That's correct, sir.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
It's disgusting Democrat members of Congress physically assaulting ICE agents,
I mean physically assaulting them. That's that's what this has
come to. Now, that's the world we live in. This
is the type of people who are serving in Congress. Unbelievable.
Five twenty six. Time to take a look at your money,
(19:42):
Jeff Bellinger, Happy Monday.
Speaker 24 (19:44):
Happy Monday. Back catch you, Jimmy. This report is sponsored
by Total Wine and More. The trade talks between the
US and China are said to have gone well over
the weekend, both nations agreeing to lower their tariffs for
the next three months to give negotiators more time to
resolve their differences. The stock market future suggests US investors
are relieved at the de escalation in the trade war.
(20:07):
Futures are soaring this morning. The Dow futures are up
nine hundred and sixty two points at the moment. I'm

It's five thirty. Now you're in Houston's morning News. I'm
Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories this f are a
weekend crackdown on after hours bars and clubs. He wants
the death penalty for all illegal alien killers. And coming
up at five thirty eight, the Southern accent is fixing
to disappear, and you can blame those damn Yankees. Details
in the minutes ahead. You're in Houston's mooning News. First,
(20:59):
let's check out the morning drive again. Here's sky Mike
not on the East Texas Freeway. Y'all southbound I sixty nine.
The East text come out out of Cleveland and a
lot of my cousins backed up here. We've got this
wreck on I sixty nine at Fostoria Road.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
It's all lanes blocked here. There's an overturn in three
other vehicles involved. Pretty nasty stuff going on, So if
you have an option to go through date and do
that instead. Looks like the sixty nine East text may
be closed for quite a while. We'll keep you updated
and we'll update the rest of the media. I've Skymike
and the Generator Supercenter dot com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
From our KTRH Generator Supercenter twenty four hour weather Center.
Sunny warm today with the high temperature rud about eighty
four tomorrow, though we start getting hotter. We're into the
nineties tomorrow and Wednesday and the rest of the week.
We'll talk to Terry Smith about that in about nine minutes.
Temperature right now currently is sixty at your official severe
weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time
(21:52):
now for the news. Here's Cliff Sanders, Thank.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
You, Jimmy.
Speaker 7 (21:55):
Good morning everybody. It is five thirty one hour top story.
After months and even years of problems with after hours clubs,
Houston police cracked down this weekend, rating two establishments, arresting
twenty people after finding guns, cocaine, and fentanol.
Speaker 28 (22:12):
We want you to have a good time, but we
want you to do it legally, and if you don't,
we're going to bring in all the resources that we
can gather to close down illegal, unpermitted, dangerous bars.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Mayor John Whitmeyer was on the scene at the raids
this weekend. Now, last week, HPD had to shoot a
man wearing ballistic gear and firing at cops. It seems
like we're seeing criminals take more chances.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Is perception reality?
Speaker 29 (22:42):
According to Major Earl Dean with the Harris County Sheriff's Office,
the answer is no.
Speaker 19 (22:49):
From the Harris Tiny sheriff Office perspective, we have not
seen a rise in this particular type of incident.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
But they are still dealing with a lot of crime.
Speaker 19 (22:58):
We're doing several initiatives to combat and curtail said crimes,
and we just want the citizens to be aware that
we are out there enforced and just to be aware
of your surroundings.
Speaker 29 (23:07):
So far this year, violent crime has gone up every
month here in Houston.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
Jeff Biggs News Radio seven and forty K Thiery.
Speaker 7 (23:16):
Meantime, another shooting at a Houston house party turns deadly.
The homeowner is charged this time and alcohol was apparently involved.
In Washington, new legislation is being pushed by Texas Congressman
Morgan Latrelle to allow the death penalty for illegal aliens
accused of murdering Americans.
Speaker 12 (23:35):
This would be an important step towards getting justice for
the victims of illegal aliens.
Speaker 21 (23:39):
Some of these crimes that we've seen here in recent
past were very brutal and just sickening. Some families will
definitely accept this and see it as a good thing.
Speaker 12 (23:47):
That's Terroll County Sheriff Thattius Cleveland. He says he also
wants to see stronger punishment for human smugglers too.
Speaker 21 (23:52):
I've had forty three guests from Mike Cownty during the
Biden administration. Some of those deaths were caused by the
smugglers that would lead people behind as they led them
to the desert.
Speaker 12 (24:00):
He added that this is just one example of how
our laws can be strengthened after the Biden border crisis.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTR Thank.
Speaker 19 (24:07):
You, Ethan.
Speaker 7 (24:08):
The Dems we're in a weekend long tantrum after the
Trump administration said it was considering leaving Habeas CORPUS to
allow for more deportations.
Speaker 30 (24:17):
I'm telling you right now, he's doing it because they
don't want to focus on what's really in front of
them and that they have created havoc in our economy.
Speaker 7 (24:26):
Senator Amy Klobuchar and NBC's Meet the Press, and to
that we say really, because Dow futures this morning are
up nine hundred and fifty eight points.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Now.
Speaker 7 (24:35):
Part of that is the order Trump will sign today
to lower prescription drug costs. The other factor the trade
agreement between the US and China announced after two o'clock
this morning.
Speaker 31 (24:47):
Trade taxes will be slashed. As a result of this
deal between the United States and China. Treasury Secretary Scott
Bezen says it starts with a ninety day pause and
a substantial drop in the levels of reciprocal tariffs will
continue to rebalance the trade relationship between the US and China.
Speaker 7 (25:05):
That is Jonathan Savage reporting it's now five point thirty
four on KTRH. Oil prices are also up this morning,
nearly two dollars to sixty two dollars and eighty nine
cents thanks to that agreement.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Now, a plan to.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Make Texas electricity more reliable has the climate crowd upset.
The state Senate passed to bill requiring wind and solar
farms to have back up electricity sources like natural gas.
David Holt with the Consumer Energy Alliance says, it's about
making sure that the lights work when we need them.
Speaker 32 (25:35):
Bringing more wind and solar online creating an intermittency unreliability problem.
We have to make sure that that backup power is there.
That's natural gas, and very soon it's also going to
be nuclear.
Speaker 7 (25:47):
Holt says, it's crucial that electricity stay reliable with the
summer coming and a heat wave this week, as we've
been talking about so far all morning.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Five point thirty five.
Speaker 7 (25:57):
The deadline to protest your property tax appraisal and Harris
County is on Thursday.
Speaker 33 (26:02):
If you think it jumped a bit too much, filing
doesn't hurt.
Speaker 34 (26:05):
Look at other homes around you, what their tax assessments are,
Have homes recently sold around yours That could indicate that
you should take advantage of the protest process.
Speaker 33 (26:14):
Own Well founder and CEO Colton Pace says, if you
don't fight. You're getting left behind, and again there's no
downside to protesting it.
Speaker 34 (26:21):
The majority of people who are not protesting again are
pain more than they likely should, and the people who
do protest have a significantly lower tax burden.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
He says.
Speaker 33 (26:31):
If you miss the deadline, you'll have to wait again
until next year. Andre Perard, News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
Thank you, Andre.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
Now, we told you that Uston has a new short
term rental ordinance to deal with out of control of
crime and parties, but it won't go into effect till
January first, so more than seven months from now, and
that's not soon enough for some people.
Speaker 35 (26:51):
You seem like we've moved into a mob neighborhood.
Speaker 7 (26:55):
Come that man with our TV partner channel to Houston
City councilmen, where Abby came and told KTRH that the
weight is to give owners time to come into compliance.
Coming up on five point thirty seven, the Astros beat
the Red six to nothing. They host Kansas City tonight,
pregame at six on Sports Talk seven to ninety, the

NBA Draft Lottery is tonight now. Even though the Rockets
made the playoffs. They're in this thanks to a previous
trade they made with Brooklyn. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's
news weather in traffic station News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Stay in touch on your drive in with Jimmy Barrett
and the Houston Morning News Team.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Oh man, I love a Southern accent. They're getting harder
and harder to find, though. I mean, even here in Houston,
it's it's it's kind of strange.
Speaker 19 (27:50):
You know.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Most of the time I hear people and they sound
like me. I kind of got the generic no accent
thing going on, not much of an accent anyway, and
that and that's true of a lot of people who
are from the Midwestern part of the United States, and
a lot of them have moved here to the South.
So I guess I'm going to have to join the
(28:11):
club as far as taken blame for people losing their
Southern accent. But we become we become so mobile. You know,
it's funny when you think back to let's go way
back in time. You go back to like let's say
nineteen hundred. You know, people would grow up and they
wouldn't they wouldn't travel, probably more than forty or fifty
miles away from their hometown ever in their lives, So
(28:34):
what other whatever accent there was where they were growing up,
they they learned it. I mean learned it by osmosis,
I guess, and talk that way. And you know, you
had very very unique accents in New York and Maine
and and just about every part of the country had
its own little, you know, regional dialect and in accent.
(28:55):
And then all of a sudden, especially in the nineteen sixties,
we started moving, and we just started moving all over
the place before you don't. You've got people from the
South living up north and people in the North living
down south, and we've all kind of homogenized ourselves. Kind
of strikes as being kind of a shame that we've
kind of lost that part of this American accents are
(29:15):
so interesting, and they're they're lacking in endangered species now
five point forty time for traffic and weather together.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
You can steal and a lot of times you can
listen to to my talk for a minute until where
they're from here.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
I can't, but I can't tell you're from Texas well.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
A lot of people say that a lot of people
say they can't.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Tell I hear no Texas accent, and you whatsoever's got on?
Speaker 5 (29:35):
We're all hamasa. Now you could talk to my mom. Plus,
she has her own language. She has this one word yeah,
and that's that's to get the cows and horses to
hunh yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yeah, and it works on kill. That's that's the one
thing that still exists. I think it's little phrases that
you've used, you've learned as a kid growing up in
some parts of the country, that you carry on with
this stick.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Well, y'all, we're going to go up to the East
Texas Free Way. We're fixing a check out this wreck
here south of Cleveland, and that's all lanes.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
That's pretty ugly stuff here too.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
It says right after the this is below the Sandra
Central River Bridge at Fostoria Road. A lot of banana
stickers to roy Alex Kevin Shane David this morning.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
This is all lanes.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
And I have a feeling this is going to be
here for a good while. So if you go through Conrod,
go through Dayton, I think the East Texas going to
be a big problem here. I'm getting pictures from people
on Facebook showing me they're just at a dead stop.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Now round down here. Good news. Who was that they
gave me?
Speaker 5 (30:30):
David from Tomball told me we've reopened the lanes now
on the north Salmon, Imperial Valley and westbound Alding Westville.
I still see that speckle, so we've still got some
closure coming over from JFK. Give yourself some extra time, Yeah, Terry,
move on. I'm in the Generator Supercenter dot Com.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Traffic Center from arg Katrh Generator Supercenter twenty four hour

for you. Heat's coming back.
Speaker 6 (30:58):
Yeah, boys, the heat coming big time.
Speaker 23 (31:01):
Oh yeah, like a little bit of summertime heat on
the way. But today's really nice. So I'm just gonna
enjoy the moment and we'll.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
Wait for the heat to come.
Speaker 23 (31:13):
So we had a little bit of rate over the weekend.
That low pressure system's finally kind of moving off toward
the east. High pressure is getting stronger and so we've
got a lot of sunshine. We don't have any rain
and southerly winds, so get ready for the heat.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Now.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Today's comfortable in the load to mid eighties, but.
Speaker 23 (31:31):
Tomorrow mid eighties to mid nineties and by Wednesday temperatures
and in the upper eighties to mid nineties. Thursday and Friday,
everybody's in the nineties anywhere from the low.
Speaker 6 (31:40):
To upper nineties.
Speaker 23 (31:41):
So Mother Nature's easing us into those ninety degree readings.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
You know you should do a question of to day.
I'm gonna do a question of to day on accents today.
Let's do a question of the day on that. Here's
what you You go to the iHeart Radio app KTRH.
Please make a number one on your preset. You're gonna
be glad you did that because it's like having us
number one on your car radio. You just hit the button.
You go right to us. Once you get to the
iHeart Radio app little talkback button there.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
You hit that.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
You get thirty seconds. First name where you're calling from.
What's your accent? What's your what accent do you have
or do you think you still have? Or what accent
did you have that you lost for whatever reason. I
want to see how many accents we can collect this morning.
Let's see if accents are live and well, because we're
just talking about how the Southern accent is disappearing because
(32:40):
of all the migration from one region to the next
and all those damn Yankees coming here to the South.
So go ahead, I want to hear your accent KTRH
number one on the preset button and then at the
iHeart Radio app and then hit that talk back button
five point fifty. Right now, skuy Mike, we got to
work on your We got to get your Texas accent back.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
You remember, I'm both the nick and a Mexican, which
makes me a super Texan, so I don't have either
of my accents. Let's go to the free iHeartRadio WEP.
We already got one. Jimmy, It's Terry from Katie.
Speaker 34 (33:08):
Jimmy, you do realize that the Southern accent or the
Texan the plural for y'all.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
Is all y'all, all right, all do oh, y'all.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Coming down the East text Freeway lookout south of Cleveland.
That's aret Fostoria Road. Boy, this is some ugly stuff.
I don't think anything good's happening there. It's all lanes
blocked here, so let's reroute through Dayton or Conroe instead
West Loop.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
I got Jared from Pierland.
Speaker 19 (33:34):
Dude page, am I traveling north Well, there's a large
braine that's being escorted, tacking up two lanes. There's things
up the heather.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Why they got to get on the West Loop?
Speaker 18 (33:44):
Now?
Speaker 5 (33:44):
All right, watch out for other people trying to go
crazy getting around it. I'm Skymike at your generator supercenter

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Really, you've had a hard time wrapping my head around
these after hour party joints. These cli there are these
pop up clubs, you know, where it's two o'clock in
the morning, the bars closed, so we we haven't had
enough to drink yet, so we need to go parties.
We need to party some more. So let's go somewhere
else till like four or five in the morning. So
(35:16):
they have these little pop up clubs right well, you
know they also have prostitution and drugs and all sorts
of other things that didn't anybody ever tell these young people,
didn't their daddy's ever tell nothing good ever happens after midnight? Son,
My daddy's to tell me that all the time, nothing
good ever happens after midnight, at least out in the public.
It may maybe the privacy of your own home something
(35:38):
good might happen, but not out there in public. So
here's a report on this big raid over the weekend
of a couple of after our club establishments from our
sister station, or actually from our television partner at KPRC
too well several.
Speaker 6 (35:51):
Law enforcement agencies.
Speaker 36 (35:52):
We're out here in this shopping center parking lot for
several hours doing those raids, and Mayor John Whitmyer even
came out to see the progress it.
Speaker 28 (36:00):
I wanted to witness first hand for myself the dangers
to Houston. Certainly, I want to recognize our first responders,
Houston Police Department. You know, these officers have families, but
they're out here to not protect in houstonians.
Speaker 36 (36:20):
The raids were conducted at La Zona Bar and Lounge
also known as Zona forty five and Low's Kerales South,
both at the same time. Multiple people were detained and
several guns.
Speaker 6 (36:31):
And drugs were also found.
Speaker 36 (36:33):
Houston City Council has been working to crack down on
these type of after hours bars, as they say they're
becoming a growing concern, including an incident when six people
were shot at one Recently, city leaders say fines aren't
enough to stop them. Mayor Whitmeyer, who came out, commended
law enforcement for their work in shutting clubs like this down.
Speaker 28 (36:51):
I've never been more proud to recognize their hard work.
They put their laves on the line.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
They go in this at are illegal.
Speaker 28 (37:02):
Drugs, prostitution, all types of illegal activity, and they're putting
us stop to it.
Speaker 37 (37:12):
So we have the legitimate businesses that close at two
o'clock in the morning and the young people making bad
decisions come here between two and four in the morning
continuing to drink where no one is regulating their consumption
of alcohol.
Speaker 36 (37:27):
Now, Chief no IDs who just heard there told us
at HPD in total, made twenty arrests during these raids.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
Houston Marria. John Whitmyer says he's going to.
Speaker 36 (37:36):
Take what he learned from over nine two city council
to again try to shut down these.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
After hours clubs.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Okay, well, at least at least they're taking it seriously now.
And if nothing else is a public nuisance, can we
agree to public nuisance? You know, they show up in
strip malls and empty buildings and all over the city,
and you know, you know it's being attracted there right blood,
(38:05):
drunk and drugged out, people in prostitution, and all the
other things they go along with it. I don't think
any of us need that in our lives between two
and four in the morning. So I'm glad to see
that the city's getting serious about doing something about it.

Both sides on the reciprocal tariffs. We'll move their tariffs
down one hundred and fifteen percent.
Speaker 7 (40:22):
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessin denouncing the details of a deal
between the US and China on trade overnight.
Speaker 8 (40:29):
It had very robust discussions. Both sides showed a great respect.
Speaker 7 (40:35):
That was a result of two days worth of talks
in Switzerland. Another promise kept. The President is going to
sign an executive order this morning to lower prescription drug
costs by as much as eighty percent.
Speaker 38 (40:47):
You know, post on truth social Trumps and the US
has been treated unfairly, and that healthcare costs will be
reduced by what he calls numbers never even thought of before.
The order, which Trump also called one of the most
consequential executive orders in our country's history, is set to
be signed Monday morning.
Speaker 7 (41:02):
Mark Mayfield reporting, so how our markets reacting down? Futures

apparently not on their spying.
Speaker 39 (41:16):
Students at Stanford University recently uncovered a group of Chinese
agents posing as students trying to gain access to sensitive
research and INTEL data. Author in China expert Gordon Chang says,
this is just one example at one university.
Speaker 10 (41:28):
This is going on every place where there is valuable
intellectual property for China to seal.
Speaker 32 (41:34):
So this has been.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Going on for decades.
Speaker 10 (41:36):
We've known about it, we know how the Chinese do it,
so this is really on us.

but Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton says no deal's going to
get done until the Russians feel pressure.
Speaker 40 (42:06):
What America should ask is for European leaders to be
prepared to step up and do exactly what they're asking
the United States to do to impose sanctions on Russia
to stop taking Russian gas.

Speaker 7 (42:47):
East this week. All of these are wins for Trump,
but the mainstream media polls claim he's unpopular, So the
question is where are they getting their numbers.
Speaker 13 (42:57):
The left typically historically has done polling this way. They
poll based on personality because that's how the left and
Democrats and progressives respond.
Speaker 7 (43:07):
Political analyst vlad Davidyuck says, expect to see Democrats keep
pushing these numbers, ignoring Trump's success on issues like crime
in the border, because they've got nothing else. Six oh four,
the New Jersey Democrat congressmen who stormed an ice facility
may face arrest for their grand standing bodycam footage shows
(43:28):
three Democratic members of Congress assaulting ICE officers, including body
slamming a female officer. Spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin says the investigation
is ongoing. NewYork Mayor ros Baraka is charged with trespassing
and is accused of ignoring warnings from Homeland Security investigators
to remove himself from the ICE detention center.
Speaker 6 (43:47):
That's Christameyo.
Speaker 7 (43:48):
The Dems claim they were assaulted, but if you check
out the video that's on our Facebook and X pages,
you'll see the truth, or does our Tom Holman says
any charges against the Dems would be justified.
Speaker 15 (43:58):
You can't cross out right, you can't cross the line

illgo ailing. You certainly can't trespass, and of assiding that's
contracted by the US government to house criminal.
Speaker 6 (44:12):
The Dems claimed they were quote conducting oversight.
Speaker 7 (44:15):
According to a new report, the Trump administration wants to
boost mass deportations by.
Speaker 6 (44:20):
Using local police. And apparently it's not new.
Speaker 16 (44:24):
What we're talking about here is a two to eighty

the locals that know where these individuals are located.
Speaker 29 (44:33):
That's retired ICE agent Victor avi Law. The question is
will it work.
Speaker 4 (44:39):
Oh, it's proven to work.
Speaker 16 (44:40):
There are sheriffs and there are police chiefs that refuse

That's a funky worm. I've never seen a funky worm.
I've heard of glow worm, and I've heard of ngeworms.
I've never heard of the screw worm. Have you ever
heard of the screwworm? We might find out more about it. Actually,
if you're in agriculture, you probably know what the screwworm is,
right and how devastating it can be. The screw worm
can impact cattle, horses, and bison. So we're talking about,
(46:19):
you know, our beat products to a large extent. Secretary
Brooke Rowlins sent this notice app tweeted out by President Trump.
By the way, due to the threat of New World screwworm. Okay, oh,
I'm sorry, I didn't get the full title New World screwworm.
I'm announcing the suspension of live cattle, horse, and bison
imports through the US Southern Border ports of entry, effective immediately.
(46:42):
The last time this devastating pest in data in America
took thirty years for our cattle industry to recover. This
cannot happen again, So we are potentially looking at something
in the cattle industry equivalent. I guess in potential damage
to the bird flew. But the bird flu has done
the chicken prices and egg prices and all that. We
(47:07):
could see the same thing going on in the cattle
industry if the screw worm takes a hold, and it
has before. The New World screwworm is a species of
parasitic fly, well known for the way in which it's

Thing we got a nice day, today really nice day,
today and then the heat really starts to kick in

see any change in this. Pattern we're going to stay
sunny and dry all week. Long temperatures today low to mid,
eighties that's where we're supposed to be In, may and
the humidities in, check so that's good. Too but then
(49:46):
as high pressure strengthens and we get the southerly, winds more,
heat more, humidity mid eighties to mid Nineties, tomorrow upper
eight east to mid Nineties, wednesday everybody in the. Nineties
thursday and fri and the thing to keep in mind
is it's not just the, heat it's our usual humidity
that makes it kind of. Uncomfortable it kind of slows

proposes the death penalty for illegal alien murderers in all fifty.

oh three from the late eighties goes to court. Today
two hundred and seventy people were killed in that terrorist,
attack and on this day in nineteen thirty, two The

Speaker 1 (52:54):
Ktrh, yeah we've got a.
Speaker 3 (52:58):
Brickhouse your poverty tax is probably went. Up six twenty
three is our time here In houston's boring. News is
brickworth more than? Stucco i'm not sure about. That Maybe
Sam soson. Knows he's a senior property tax manager At
texas based Own well by the, way you folks who
worked for me and got me some decent money back
the last few. Years So i'd like to personally thank
you for doing. THAT i appreciate.
Speaker 43 (53:18):
It that's, Great, Thanks, jimmy you.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Bet so how does this process? Work you, know it
seems to be a real cottage industry we've graded here
In texas of fighting your property. Taxes you, know we
have a lot of companies like yours that do. It,
clearly you have more success than you don't have success
at getting property taxes. Lowered so does that just mean,
(53:43):
that you, know we should all just kind of assume
that we get our, assessment that our assessment has overrated
our home or put more of a value on our
home that our home is actually.
Speaker 43 (53:51):
WORTH i think that's a fair, Assumption. JIMMY i mean
to be, HONEST i always Encourage texans to file a
protests every year because as there's zero risk to doing.
So by, THAT i mean the by, law the appraisal
district and The Appraisal Review board can't increase your value
as a result of a. Protest so, really the worst
thing that could happen is that the value just stays the.
(54:13):
Same SO i don't see why folks don't protest every.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
Year, yeah AND i from a practical, standpoint before everybody
gets the hopes up that they can get their taxes,
LOWERED i, mean what are some tailtale signs from your
property tax assessment that tell you that they've really gone
too far as far as overvaluing what your home is.
Speaker 43 (54:31):
WORTH i, mean there's a couple of different ways that
you can look at. It so when you follow a,
PROTEST i always suggest requesting a copy of the district's evidence.
Packet by, law you're entitled to that so you can
see all the data and all the information that they're
valuing your property. As but, generally you know you're going
to want to look, for you, know inaccurate property. Details
(54:54):
make sure they have all the square footages of your property.
Correct look at similar properties in the neighborhood that are
comparable to, yours see where they're valued, at you, know
because The Texas constitution says that you can't be you,
know you shall not be taxed higher than your neighbor,
right so it brings this whole equity, approach your uniform
and equal approach saying, hey let's look at comparable properties
(55:17):
and make sure that they're all in. Line you're also
going to want to take a look at. SALES i,
mean there's a variety of ways that you can look at. It,
yeah but i, mean really the big takeaway is folks,
like even if the value goes, up stays the same goes,
down get out there and, protest because you, know you
want to see how the district is valuing your property
and make sure that everything is.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
Correct And i'm guessing too that what we've seen with home,
sales home sales are certainly down over where they, were let's,
say two years, ago and certainly homes are not selling
at the same price they were two years. Ago so
if they're making a comparison of your home based on
a comp from a couple of years, ago then that's
automatically out of, date isn't it?
Speaker 43 (55:57):
Right, Yeah AND i think it's also too important to
remember here that you, know counties appraised properties in mass you,
know they simply don't have the resources to go out
and visit every single. Property so because mass appraisal uses generalized,
data it may not always reflect unique characteristics or actual
conditions of an individual. Property so that's why owners have
(56:18):
the right to appeal it they believe that their appraisal is.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Inaccurate all, Right, sam thanks appreciate. It, Ben senior property
tax manager At texas based Own.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
