You can't go in on the KatieFreeway from Student and you can.
It's also closed coming in from theBaytown side after fifty nine. That's the

News Radio seven forty at rh whereit's time for the news. Here's
Sheriff Ryer and we have news.It is now four h two on news
radio seven forty KTRH and our topstory this sound. The rebuild is going

(02:17):
to be significant. There was realdamage. But the good news is for
Houston, this ain't our first rodeoas Texas Senator Ted Cruz, the greater
Houston area is going to have toclean up now. Started yesterday from Hurricane
Barrel. Many of us more thanone point eight million Center Point customers still
in the dark. However, thismorning, two hundred and eighty five thousand

(02:38):
were able to get their power back. The crews were working already the minute
the storm cleared, and even beforecompany expects to restore one million customers by
the end of the day Wednesday tomorrow. A lot of people are still going
to be without power for a coupleof days, So let's just be smart
the rest of the way. Youknow, in the next couple of days,

(03:00):
a lot of the power will beback and we'll get there. I
know it's hot and I know it'stough, but Centerpoint is on it.
They've got sixty five hundred people comingin. Yeah, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick
on KTRH, you heard that, sixty five hundred workers coming in on top
of what they already have. Themajority of Montgomery County, though, was
left in the dark by Beryl, probably close to eighty percent of the county

(03:21):
without power, Trees down everywhere, main roads down up on I forty five
by eight Highway eight point thirty.County Judge Marko compared Beryl to Hurricane Ike.
He's saying approximately eleven five hundred workersoverall. This is not just your
power. Workers have been mobilized tohelp get the lights back on. A
lot of this is just removing damage, removing the trees, power the limbs.

(03:46):
We're going to talk to a CenterPoint representative at seven twenty later this
morning on Houston's Morning News. We'llhave the updates as soon as we can
get them. More closures and cancellationsof course this morning, including a leaf
I SD, Cleveland, ISD,Conroe. We have a complete list at
KTRH dot com if you can getto it now. Beryl was a killer

(04:08):
storm at least seven people lost theirlives, including an HPD civilian employee trying
to get to work who was caughtin floodwaters. He came off forty five,
got in flood conditions there at theHouston Avenue underpass, called HPD friends
for help, and I've been thereall afternoon watching his colleagues retrieve his body

(04:30):
from his submerged car. Mayor JohnWhitmyer there A person was killed in a
fire in southeast Houston, believed tohave been started by a lightning strike.
Two people were killed by trees thatfell in their homes, including a seventy
three year old grandmother. There weretwo deaths in Fort Bin County, an
elderly woman who went out during thestorm things were flying with US wing GUS

(04:51):
and a child with autism who fellinto a bio Now there are at least
forty seven high water rescues yesterday,Bush and Hobby Airports. This morning,
they're trying to get back on track. They have limited schedules though there have
been more than three hundred cancel flightsso far this morning, mostly at Bush.

(05:12):
You better check with your airline ifyou were hoping to fly today,
and there's lots of boil water notices. They are broad spread all these different
mud districts, Cypress Hills, Spring, Cypress Water System, anywhere where you
lost water pressure. Boil your waterbefore you start trying to drink it.
It is now four five. We'regoing to move on to some other political

(05:34):
news. Now. White House visitorlogs revealing that a top Parkinson's expert visited
the White House eight times between lastJuly and this past March. They knew,
including one visit with President Joe Biden'spersonal doctor with a Parkinson's expert.
The administration doesn't want to talk aboutthat. What I can tell you during

(05:57):
those exams that we have been ableto do every year for the past three
years, and he's a comprehensive examthat we share, conversations, a report
that we share with all of you. He has seen a neurologist, he
is seeing a neurologist. Did youcatch that? Spokesperson Karine Jean Pierre,
she didn't Expand we know that thepresident's position though his personal physician, doctor

(06:19):
Kevin O'Connor, he has been involvedin Biden family business. Oh, is
that a conflict? Well, weknow that doctor O'Connor was involved in a
shady scheme that dealt with the failinghealthcare company America or Health Oh House Oversight

(06:39):
Committee Chairman James Comer demanding that O'Connortestify before Congress. Ah, they just
ignore those subpoenas, don't you know. And yet another House Democrat is calling
for Biden to end his run fora second term in the White House.
I think he should step aside.I think it's become clear that he's not
the best person to carry the Democraticmessage. Now that's a Congressman from Washington,

(07:01):
Adam Smith, Washington State. OnCNN, there was an angry President
Biden, though, who went offon MSNBC during a rambling interview yesterday.
We're going to play that for youplus Donald Trump with kt R h is
Sean Hannity. We'll do that atfive point thirty. It's now four seven.
Sentencing for President Trump and the Manhattanbook keeping trial delayed until September eighteenth.

(07:26):
But now Texas Base Topello attorney ByronHenry says, look that Manhattan case
is not over. From a legalstandpoint, it makes sense for a court
to tap the brakes. It maybethat this doesn't affect it at all.
I think the real question is isthere jail time, and if so,
is he remanded that day? Hewill have the opportunity as all other defendant
to file an appeal. Yeah, appeals and verdicts overturn. He says,

(07:49):
We're gonna have to see what happenswith his other three cases too. They
could all be changed, mainly asa result of the Supreme Court and its
rulings. We're now a week awayfrom the start of the publican national convention
Republicans will gather in Milwaukee starting Julyfifteenth to formally nominate Donald Trump for president
and officially launched the twenty twenty fourgeneral election campaign. GOP strategist flat toa

(08:11):
Vidiots as the party enters this conventionin better shape than any recent presidential election
year. Four years ago was reallyat a tough time because COVID really dampened
a lot of the enthusiasm, andin twenty sixteen it was still not foregone
conclusion that their Alican nominee was goingto win the old lobbison. And this
is a much more positive anticipatory element. In this particular convention, Trump is

(08:31):
expected to announce his vice presidential nomineeat the convention. The party will also
adopt its official platform, Coryelson New'sRadio seven forty KTRH. Hey, the
astros playing hosting the Marlins pregame atsix on Sports Talk seven ninety. First
pitch seen on seven ninety, andwe'll be playing that as well here on
KTRH. Is a good fashion foryou. Did they get back? Apparently

(08:54):
they don't know how they got back, but okay, that's good. Well,
you know, there were some limitedoperations. I guess, so I
guess maybe they bust them. Whoknows. Recapping our top story though,
Hurricane Barrel still has one point eightmillion Centerpoint customers without power this morning,
but they hope to have about amillion restored by the end of the day
tomorrow. That's fast action, Jimmy. That is it is. Storm is

(09:18):
responsible for at least seven deaths thatwe know of across Houston. I'm sure
with rar A News Radio seven fortyKRH. Take today's Donald common sense move
in re election. Here the dominoesfall, political dominoes falling on US Radio
seven KTRH. You won't be ableto shop at Target after July the fifteenth,

(09:43):
at least not with your checkbook. They will no longer accept checks.
Will they take cash, Yes,they will. They will accept cash is
long as long as it's not counterfeit, and as long as as long as
they have associates working there that knowhow to make change, which is also
a dying art form along with thecheckbook. They say it's just because of

(10:07):
a lack of volume. I mean, let's be honest about this. There's
no better way to date yourself thanto walk into a grocery store or into
a target and whip out your checkbook and write a check. It instantly
screams, I'm a senior citizen.Unless you live in a small town.
Unless you live in a small town, small community. Sure, sure,

(10:28):
but I'm guessing you get a lotof cash in a small town. Yeah.
But checks or cash? Yeah,I mean I still write an occasional
check. I write a check tothe guy who cuts the grass, the
guy that services the pool. Idon't write him a check, but I
have to write the checking. Isend the checking routing number to them to

(10:48):
pay for it. But that's it, when you get down to it,
that's it. That's the only thingleft in my life. Favorite barbecue,
cash or check only there you go, well, I'll have cash. I
always have cash. That's another missingthing, you know. So a few
people have cash. It drives mecrazy. Elizabeth will put like some but
item like two dollars and fourteen centson the debit card to go. Hang
on a second, you didn't havetwo bucks? Yeah, I had to.

(11:11):
Well then why are you paying witha debit card because I only have
ten dollars left in me? Okay, whatever, just get some more money.
Drives me crazy. Well, youknow, when the power's out,
you're out of luck. Yeah, you are. What are you going to
do? Cash is king when thepowers out? Digital stuff? I mean,
what are you gonna do? Andhere's a perfect example. Right,

(11:31):
we've got one point eight million peoplewithout power and you can't. That means
businesses, it means they're banks,it means everything. That's right. So
you use your bank open or closed. You know, you can't get any
cash out of your bank right now. If you can find an open grocery
store, you can get some cashthat way. I guess when you're paying
for your groceries with your debit card, ass I mean, that's still working.
But there's a lot of places thatare still close this morning. We'll

(11:52):
be running through it all morning. You know, the things that are working
and the things aren't quite working yet. It's going to take a while to
get that inspected. A Hurricane Ikewith I was without power for eight days.
I remember, That's why I wentand got a generator. Sure after
Hurricane Ike, you've got your barerback though, right, Yeah, the
generator. My generator was great, you know, I speak for those folks.

(12:13):
Yes, and my generator was great. It was kicking on and off
all day yesterday. But no internet, you know, no TV, nothing
like that. We had no interneteither. It was the internet that was
bothering me because I couldn't get workemails. And you know, finally I
called the boss. I said,if you're trying to reach me, call
me, you know, if there'sa change in the plan or anything,
let me know. And by theway, you will require some patients for

(12:35):
all of us. If you're tryingto reach somebody who's in the roofing industry
right now, don't expect to callback right away. Unless you've got some
personal phone number, home phone numberor something for somebody. Same thing of
generator, you're not going to getone installed the next couple of days.
It's just we're gonna have to youhave to ride this one out and know
for next time. Yeah, youknow. I speak for a roofing company
as well as a generator company, and they've they've got the generator. They

(13:00):
said, it's just gonna they're goingto prioritize people with life life as they
should. All right, let's doa little traffic and weather together. The
big difference between this and I Cootewas sera I kit kind of in the
fall. It was football season. In fact, the cold front came the
next day. Yep, it was. It was nice outside like the whole
week. We kind of had alittle grill out on the on the patio

(13:22):
here. Alisia wasn't though, Ohno, that was August in three weeks
without power there. That's gonna besteamy for the next few days. We'll
get to the weather in the second. How's the drive look this morning?
And then we have some road closures. Still it's awful all around. I
mean, that's that's the encapsualized answerto that. We've got. Of course,
with eighty percent of the power. Some of the other issues you're having
besides closures is it's awfully dark onthe roadway, so if somebody stalls,

(13:46):
they happen to not have their lights. We've got a whole new set of
problems here. Noticed on the HardyToll Road this morning my drive in.
Also a lot of the North Loopthe freeway lights are out, so you
know it's awfully dark whichever way you'regoing here on the North Loop six that's
actually one of the better routes thismorning. I know I have a stall
at Lockwood, No big woop there. They've shut down forty five going into

(14:07):
downtown, the whole North Freeway. They've shut down iten, the Katie Freeway
going in from about Studemont. They'veshut down the North Freeway from Patton down,
and part of the Pier elevated looksto be shut down. I'm showing
the East Tex open now, andalso iten going from the Baytown side to
the KDI side from fifty nine toforty five is shut down. We're gonna

(14:28):
have to take our surface roads fornow. Got a whole lot more at
the twenty break and the Generator Supercenter, dot Com Traffic Center from our KTRH
top tax Defenders, twenty four hourWeather Center, partly kloudy about ninety three
for the heights to day mostly Sundayninety three tomorrow and then Thursday, partly
cloudy in the morning. We havea thirty percent shower storm chance in the
afternoon with I temperature about ninety one. Right down seventy four did your official

(14:50):
severe weather station News Radio seven fortyKTRH. It's Houston's Morning US brought to
you Biden U South Windows Solutions. Now back to Jim and Shah with the
info you need to take on theday. Four twenty is our time here
on Houston's Morning News. We willbut obviously we'll be talking a lot about
storm damage and keep you informed aboutall that stuff. But some news of

(15:11):
the day will work in as well. Yeah, as much as we can.
Yeah. One of the items Ifound very interesting yesterday is evidently the
elite is making a pack with theNew York Times. We're gonna start leaking
you information about things that are goingon in this White House. I think
we have a real war going onright now between Democrat elites and the President
of the United States. Yeah, and let's not forget the New York Times

(15:33):
gets an awful lot of information outof the FBI and the CIA. Don't
forget that. Oh yeah, Peterducyshare some of those leaks with us.
Next, first though, traffic andweather. Together, we are checking out
the drive once against sky Mike witha whole host of problems. The big
thing right now is forty five.I'm going to tighten up for time here
to get us back on. Butforty five southbound from Patent that's a shutdown.

(15:54):
Also northbound. I see they've shutit down at Franklin Street, and
I'm seeing shut more shut down everytime I look around here. Itm westbound
is shut down from fifty nine backto forty five. This is all related
to high water to twenty five amongthe hits this morning, two twenty five
at Richie both ways, they'll putyou on the frontage. I don't think
that's going to cause a big problem. We still have most people staying home.

(16:15):
East Freeway Federal. That looks tome. I'm gonna double check and
make sure that's just in the feeder. Yes, main lanes are getting by,
and I've got something hit up onthe East Freeway. Magnol You by
the truck stops, got a stallone thing. I know those of you
that fly some of the some ofthe radio tower lights are out this morning,
and of course that causes a holethat's super dangerous. We'll get to

(16:36):
let's do ship channel bridges at thethirty break and the Generator Supercenter, dot
Com Traffic Center brob R Katie RHTop tax Defenders, twenty four hour Weather
center for today Hartley Clady Skies maysee a sprinkler two this morning. Hig
temperature about ninety three. Tomorrow mostlySunday ninety three and then Thursday partly KLAUDI
thirty percent shower chance for the afternoonwith a high ninety one. Terry Smith
and the Weather Channel will join usin the five o'clock hour and we'll kind

(17:00):
to fine tune the forecast a littlebit more for you. Right now.

of our top stories. Here's sharefor twenty two on News Radio seven forty
k TRH. We got a millioneight Centerpoint customers without power this morning.

(17:21):
They restored it to a little overtwo hundred thousand hurricane barrel responsible for at
least seven deaths, Bush and HobbyAirports. They are running, but limited
schedules. Today, Latest news anytimeKTRH dot com. Our next news update

Got to fix those leaks well.New York Times hopes they don't fix the
leaks because they like leaks. Here'sPeter Decer reporting on some of the information
New York Times has been leaked.Regarding the current occupants of the White House.
Part of the article says after watchingmister Biden in private, in public,

(18:06):
and while traveling with him, theofficial said they no longer believed the
president had what it took to campaignin a vigorous way and defeat Donald J.
Trump. The official, who insistedon anonymity in order to continue serving,
said mister Biden had steadily showed moresigns of his age in recent months,
including speaking more slowly, haltingly andquietly, as well as appearing more
fatigued in private, and the leakscoming out of this previously leak proof White

(18:30):
House are coming quick. A formeradvanced staff are released to Axios, essentially
a picture book showing President Biden howto get to a podium and how to
exit a stage. Trump's advanced directorsays they never did that for him.
Some Democratic operatives say it's actually prettycommon in DC. Something not common,
though, Biden's team sending questions tosomebody interviewing him. Were those questions given

(18:56):
to you by the White House?Or did you have the campaign or did
you have to submit questions ahead ofthis interview? The questions were sent to
me for approval. I approved tothem. Okay, So the White House
sent the questions to you ahead ofthe interview, Yes, okay. I

(19:17):
got several questions, eight of them, and the four that were chosen with
the ones that I approved. Thisis what we've got from officials in Wilmington.
While the campaign insists that this isnot at all an uncommon practice,
a source familiar with the Biden bookingoperation tells Fox that they will refrain from
offering suggested questions. Over the weekend, that radio host and her station in
Philadelphia mutually parted waves. Apparently themanagement did not like that during a presidential

(19:42):
interview, the president's campaign was dictatingwhat could be asked there's no such thing
in radio as mutually parting ways.Somebody either got fired or they quit on
your TV. Right, in broadcasting, that's not what happens, cardinals.
And she revealed the truth, Yes, that she was given the question right

(20:06):
that she should ask right exactly forher approval, For her approval, kept,
we're sending these to you for yourapproval. I have interviewed many presidents
and heads of state, right ifwe were no you ever required at any
time to ask a specific question I'vebeen asked before. If we appreciate it,
if you would ask him about this, you know that that's not unusual.
But that's that's usually has nothing todo with For example, if you're

(20:29):
talking to a Senator Cruz, forexample, and he has a bill he's
trying to promote, he would likeyou to ask him about that, in
addition to whatever the questions and otherquestions you have for them. But no,
yeah, never, never, andeven even inside of the White House
itself. But they would use theirown photographer. Sure, you know I
can have a photographer they're standing by, But couldn't you roll our cameras?

(20:49):
They would and then would hand methe tape I give them a tape.
They put it in their photographer,so there wouldn't be unflattering, right photos
of the first Lady or the Presidentwould exactly sows, But nothing about what
questions I could ask. There yougo. Yeah, it may be common
in this administration, but it isnot common in general. Four twenty seven

Four thirty is our time here onHouston's Bonning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett

(21:33):
along with Sheriff Fryar Bong. Ourtop stories this half are with Beryl.
The big issues were power and debried. Biden goes off while Trump remains calm
and coming up at four thirty eight, low water pressure means boil the water
before you drink it. Details inthe minutes ahead. You're on Houston's Barning
News. First, we're checking outthat morning drive again. Skot Mike is

(21:53):
here. Hey, big story isforty five coming into town. They've shut
it down from Patton also northbound offthe Pierce Elevated. They've shut you down
at Franklin. You'll be forced ontoITEN on the outbound, which looks to
be open. Eastbound it Ktie Freewayshutdown at Studemont. Apparently we've got some
kind of high water thing here.Iten shut down westbound from fifty nine over

(22:15):

to let you know, and wellwe will visit chip Channel bridges at four

official severe weather station. News Radioseven forty k TRH. It is time
now for the news. Here's SheriffFryar Morning. Everybody is now four thirty
one on news Radio seven forty kt RH. Our top story this hour.

(22:57):
I couldn't have been in the parkinglot ten minutes and we were seeing
sideways gusts of wind. With eachone. It was almost like the water
rose and you could see it breakthe bank. Well, that's a familiar
refrain. That woman talking to ourTV partner channel to the Greater Houston area.
Cleaning up today started yesterday once thestorm passed. Hurricane Beryl. It's

(23:21):
about ready to move into Arkansas thismorning. By the way, as of
this morning, there are here onepoint eight million customers without power. Centerpoint
hoptes to have a million of thoseback online by the end of tomorrow.
We understand what families are going through, certainly with the loss of power.
I do not have power at myhouse. Center Point is there in everything

(23:44):
they can. They're probably in tenthousand additional personnel. Houston Mayor John Whitmyer.
We're hearing different numbers depending on whichofficial you talk to, but the
Mayor of Houston says ten thousand personnel. More than two hundred eighty five thousand
people have had their power restored sinceyesterday. There are numerous closures again today

(24:07):
across the Houston area. The completelist is at KTRH dot com. All
Harris County buildings and courts are closed. The district courts are all closed,
no jury duty in Fort Benn County, and classes canceled at Lone Star College
as well as at Rice University.Seven people across the Houston area were killed
in this storm, including a seventythree year old grandmother killed when a tree

(24:29):
fell in her house in North HarrisCounty. I just thank God for her
life. She was an amazing woman. She raised she raised me up,
you know, pretty much by herself. That's the woman's son with our TV
partner, Channel two. One ofthe other deaths a civilian employee of HBD
on his way to work and hegot caught in floodwaters. If you're traveling

(24:53):
today, Bush and Hobby Airport runninga limited schedule, check with your carrier.
Hundreds of flights already canceled this morning. Beryl causing structural damage is as
well. Saint Luke's Hospital in LakeJackson suffering substantial damage. Part of the
roof was sheared off in the storm, and the roofed Energy Stadium appears to
have been damaged. Officials say they'rewaiting for a full assessment before they make

(25:17):
any comment. The Astros are hostinga game here today. City of Houston
has announced that Monday's garbage heavy treewaste will be collected today in the City
of Houston and storm debris collection willbe resuming too. Violent crime continuing even
in Barry's barrels aftermath. By theway, an HPD officer shot in the

(25:40):
thigh responding to a disturbance in northwestHouston last night. That officer, an
eleven year veteran, in stable conditionto shoot her in custody, is four
thirty four. Now. Donald Trumpboldly predicting who his opponent will be in
the November election. You know,it looks to me like he may very
well stay. And he's got anego and he doesn't want to quit.

(26:00):
He doesn't want to do that.It just looks to me like that's what
he wants. Trump told Katie RishishwanHannity that if Biden does drop out,
Kamala Harris would be the Democrat nominee. He has to legally hand all that
campaign cash over to her. Can'tgive it to anybody else. There's that
problem. Trump was calm, cool, collected, but there was an unhinged

(26:23):
Joe Biden raging on MSNBC about hisvocal detractors inside the Democrat Party. I'm
getting so frustrated, but by theelite. Now I'm not talking about you
guys, but about the elite inthe party who they know so much more.
With any of these guys, Idon't think I should run against me.

(26:45):
Announce the president challenge man the convention. Another House Democrat, Oliver Biden
to withdraw. You're going to hearthat at six am. He was not
on the campaign trail yesterday. Bythe way, by the first lady was
though, we can't take anything forgranted. We have to meet this moment,

(27:07):
and they our greetings are Jill Bidenin North Carolina, closer to home.
Texas lawmakers when they gather in January, they are going to start with
eight Texas GOP priorities and Sharyl oneof the big ones. No more Democrat
chair positions. The Texas House doesthat. They give massive amounts of power

(27:30):
to Democrats in the form of chairmanshipsof committees. The Texas Senate does not,
and so the Republican Party of Texashas prioritized ending this practice in the
Texas House. That is political commentatorLuke Messias ending Democrat chairmanships in the Texas
House has five to six times moresupport than it ever has. I think
the likelihood that we banned Democrat chairsis maybe seventy five percent. We've got

(27:52):
a very good shot at it,along with an even better shot of replacing
House Speaker Dade feel Jeff Biggs NewsRadio seven forty kt ORH here's something in
DC. A new bill proposed byRepublicans, of course, would cut federal
agency budgets by half. As theiroffice spaces sit empty, they can't get

(28:15):
the employees to come back to work. Charles Blaine of Urban Reform says remote
work has now become the norm inWashington, DC, and some of these
agencies could probably use a decent slashingthat place. Some employment starts at the
top, and so if that's whatthe boss is doing, then you're going
to see denior level management doing thesame things. I definitely think that the

(28:36):
administration deserves a lot of the blamewhen it comes to this, because he's
setting that tone and that's what peopleare following. Yeah, he says,
some of these agencies could be cutin half. Some offices are under twenty
percent full, they're not even halffilled with workers. Four thirty seven is
our time. Stro's hosting Miami. As I said, pregame at six on

(28:56):
Sports Talk seven to ninety, firstpitch, and it's going to be simulcast
on seven to ninety and here onKTRH. And of course the top story.
We've got a million eight Center Pointcustomers with no power in the aftermath
of the hurricane. Power crews hopeto have a million though restored by the
end of the day tomorrow. Andwe had at least seven people killed in

(29:18):
the storm. I'm shereber Fryer onnews radio seven forty KRH. This is
your morning. This is Houston's morningnews, traffic and weather. Every ten
minutes on the tens. This isthe story. We may do a couple
of times this morning. I knowShreer has already mentioned this, but I
feel it's a very important thing todo because we have seen a lot of
notifications coming out from different mud districtsabout boiling your water somebody, I assume

(29:44):
that's where we're coming from. Imean, a lot of these locations I
don't recognize them, but I meanthere's just one right after another in our
internet and our email here we musthave I'm going to guess five hundred plus
mud districts just in the Greater HarrisCounting area. I mean, they don't
cover very big areas. I've gotone that is just basically my neighborhood.

(30:07):
It's like neighborhood by neighborhood sometimes. And what happens is a lot of these
places don't necessarily have reliable generator equipment, so when they lose their power,
they reduce you know, they losethe ability in order to purify the water.
So when that happens, they sendout a boil notice, which means
if you use the water, youneed to bring it to a rapid boil

(30:29):
for at least a minute and thenyou can cool it down and drink it
after that. But make sure youstore it in you know, a secure,
safe container. Most people are alot of people that this is space
that a lot of us go outand buy bottled water, especially right before
a hurricanes. So if you haveample bottled water on, you know,
in storage of the house, thenyou're fine. But one of the things

(30:49):
to also remember about that is ifyou if you have low water pressure and
you take a shower, the lastthing you want to do is get that
water in your mouth. Yeah, and you also, if you have power,
restore or be thinking about your icemaker too. Yes, if you
got any think about the ice thatyou're throwing into things throughout the old ice.
Absolutely, and if there's anything else, leave it to the CDC to

(31:11):
state the obvious. But if there'sanything else, such as toxic chemicals or
radioactive material, boiling won't help.Easy wants you to know that because you
can't figure that out for yourself. No long times is the precaution. You
know, it's not like you're goingto have all kinds of pestil and it's
coming through your tap. You knowwhen it's restored, but you know,
until they can do all the testingthat they need to do and make sure,

(31:33):
then well. And it depends tooon how long it's been out.
For example, we had low waterpressure at the house yesterday for maybe four
or five minutes. Oh yeah, and they came back right away, so
it was fine. My guess istheir generator went down, they refield or
whatever and got it back up againsomething along those lines, so it wasn't
down long enough to do any harm. You you have power. I have
power because I have a backup generator. That's the only reason I felt it

(31:56):
was restored to our neighborhood pretty fast. We didn't have that kind of power
line damage, yes, you know, yeah, but no internet, right,
I mean, how do you dothe news without the internet? You
know? It was just like,oh the dearth of news and no TV.
You know, so well, yeah, just driving table's gone, the
Internet's gone. The silence. Thesilence drives you crazy because we're so used

(32:20):
to having our devices and using themall the time. So yeah, especially
if you got kids. Right afterI got finished moving all the tree limbs,
and you know, half my neighbor'strees ended up in my yard and
half of my neighbor's trees at thebottom of my pool. I'm gonna have
to go on like a school ofmission later today. Yeah, I lost
all the trees into the pool.Ike, been through this, yeh,
done it, been there, donethat. We're doing it again. Four

You did. I just like,I don't know what kind of do

That could have been very romantic candlelight. Well, I have an endorsement.
We'll talk about that at the topof the next hour. Let's go to
the downtown. I forty five atFranklin Street. They're taking everybody off.

(33:04):
This is the pier s elevated Downtown. They've shut down the North Freeway.
It's shut down from Downtown northbound andthen southbound from Patents some I don't even
know where the high water is onthis, but it's a complete closure,
and that's all we need to know. They're putting everybody on the East Freeway
on the outbound side. You'll haveto go eastbound and then you can go
up the East. Text looks goodfor now and this is a good route.

(33:25):
It also Katie Freeway. They've shutdown the REMP that goes to the
North Freeway outbound. Same situation.Looks like they've shut down the main lanes.
Got a real dearth of a cameracoverage here. A lot of the
freeway system is down, both camerasand digitals. I don't think I'm going
to need digitals much today. Let'ssee where was I going? Ship Channel
Bridge. We are good to go. Toll Bridge is reopen. It's that

(33:47):
one lane of fun southbound if youwant to do that. You've got the
Hartmin Bridge open Baytown to Laport bothsides this morning. No wind issues.

Boy, sure is good to bein the studio today. I try

(34:49):
to use my home studio yesterday forthe first time in months. Yeah,
thirty five minutes into trying to doan afternoon show on KTRH yesterday, internet
failed gone, And then I triedto text back to the radio station and
my text wouldn't go through. SoI tried calling into the station and my
call wouldn't go through. Or whenit did go through, it was like,

(35:12):
wow, all garbly, but Icould make a phone call to another
city, another place. It wasfine. It was just coming into downtown.
They're coming into uptown. You know, it's weird. It was crazy,
it really is. It was crazy. Things just didn't work right.
And I wonder if it's not bannedwith everybody was trying to use their phones

(35:36):
to do everything. Yeah, Iwonder what the greater lesson of this is,
though, there's got to be agreater lesson here. You know.
Not to sound paranoid, although hurricanesdo make me a little paranoise. Not
to try to sound paranoid, butyou realize how easy it would be to
disrupt things if you could just youknow, take out the internet, take
out the pace. You know,I read dystopian novels, the MP Attack.

(36:01):
Yeah, I'm not trying to gothere. I'm just saying if somebody,
if somebody, if somebody wanted toit would be it'd be very easy
evil actors. Yeah, very easyto cause all kinds of problems. And
it wouldn't be that hard to do. No, it wouldn't be that hard.
You know. I met some it. Like I said, my normal

(36:22):
twenty minute at the most drive homewas an hour and a half yesterday,
dodging trees. I got on quickerthan you, and I had a string
you did, and I was trappedby floodwaters and people driving the wrong way
on the access road because they hadto turn around. You know, turn
around, don't drown. They keeptelling you, well, when you do
it, you may have a headon collision. I mean, it was
just unbelievable. Every time you tryto get off a major freeway and that

(36:45):
was your best bet because all theside streets had trees down, lights down,
power things not working. I mean, it was crazy. It is
please please good Samaritans. And thatwas just amazing to me. That is,
I mean, some of the peopleI met who were trying to be
helpful to other people. It's justyou know, a guy from Oklahoma.
He said, it's my first hurricane, and I hope it's my last.

(37:06):
And I'm looking at him and Isaid, are you here for He said,
yeah, I've got radiation at M. D Anderson, but I'm starting.
And so he and his wife andhe stopped to try to help me
figure out how to get down thestreet. He said, well, I
think that one's okay. It wasn't, but that's okay. Sure, it
was nice, a nice man fromOklahoma. You know, it's funny that
storms like this they bring out thebest in the worst, right in certain

(37:29):
people. I'd like to think inmore people, Thanny, that brings out
the best. But some people gojust nuts. Yeah, sitting in that
service station with a windblow, andI had Jonathan. He was a good
Samaritan. Yeah, nice guy,Jonathan, and we kind of commiserated with
each other. There you go,miser get me out. Misery loves company
all right. Time for a littletraffic and weather together. Let's talk to
the neighbors for the first time ina week or so. How about that

(37:50):
guy my next door neighbors. Shehas a car port in her yard.
It's somebody else's carport, it's nothers, So you know, we're just
charing him. Any ways around theneighborhood with all this weather, what we
have on the surfaces are signals out. Obviously with the powers out, signals
are out watch outs. There aresome people, a lot of people think
that, you know, well,if the signals allow, I'll just go

(38:14):
through it like there's no law there. Where there's the law is still there
if the signals out, so goahead and act like the you know,
signal is still the waist stop. That's the key word right there. Besides
the light outages, we've got alot of intersections that are flooded. You've
got Hardytoil Road at the North Belt, you've got East Freeway, Federal.
I'll down on the surface roads here, Katie Freeway, most of your surfaces

(38:37):

far as freeways goes, North Freewaysshut down from downtown up to Patent both

we found out yesterday, although SHERIdid share it during the early earlier newscast

that evidently a U of Parkinson's expertdoctor has been to the White House eight

seems like a pretty obvious opportunity forthe White House to come clean on what's
going on with President Biden. Butas you can tell from Green Jean Pierre

(40:32):
no? Was that expert here toparticipate in anything surrounding the care of the

James Comer demanding that O'Connor testify beforeCongress while you were the doctor, what
were you doing involved in their businesses? More House Democrats going public telling the

(47:58):
So what are the expectations now. It's a question that I asked Texas
based Appella attorney Byron Henry. IfI'm the Trump former President Trump's camp,
I am assuming he's going to getjail time. Every delay benefits President Trump,
even though this puts him in themiddle of election season. So what
happens in September? The real questionis is he given jail time and is

(48:22):
he remanded on that date or givena date to report, Because what will
happen if he's given a date toreport is that they'll file their notice of
appeal and their motions that he'd remainout of jail penning appeal, which would
be until after the election. JeffBiggs News Radio seven forty k t H.

dangy you know, just kind ofgo gee. That's the way you texasize
it. Oh, okay, I'mseeing it. I'm still working on my
Texas. Yeah. It's just local. It's a local thing, kind of
like Sam Phillippy gotcha or Sam philippgotcha, got you? Here's what Here's
what I don't understand. I mean, these warnings continue to come out and

(50:58):
I understand it's a it's a series. It's becoming a worldwide issue. Yeah,
it's a worldwide issue. You don'tget rid of it. It's like
malaria, you know, you careto have it forever. That being the
case, And that's what's kind ofpiqued my interest about this is how is
it that I mean, it's it'sa news story, but nobody is talking
about any sort of a danky fevervaccination. No, he's talking about any

(51:22):
sort of mandatory you know, can'tcan't go to these places during the summer
months because you're going to get exposedto mosquitoes. It's mosquitoes, Garriot.
That's why, when we're not talkingto anymore of all this rain, we've
had better hope that Harri's County mosquitoControl gets in action. I guess the
point I'm trying to make is this, this strikes me as a much bigger

(51:43):
deal than COVID ever was. Sowhy is it that COVID became such a
big deal and everybody has to bevaccinated against it and we have to shut
things down, But dingy fever not? No, Well, you know,
yeah, it's a problem, butwe're keeping an eye on it kind of
thing. It's a much more laxadaisicalapproach, even though it's a much more
serious illness. I don't see anycommercials on TV for, you know,

(52:06):
talking about dang gay fever back. But I saw one yesterday for pregnant women
to get the COVID nineteen vaccine anytimeduring their pregnancy, as recommended by the
CDC and by the American College ofObstetricians and Gynecologists. And I thought to
myself, really, that's a wewould take a chance on something that we

(52:27):
know has some not so pleasant sideeffects for a pregnant woman. They won't
even tell you what's in it.That's what bothers me. You know,
how am I supposed to take andtake them serious about other things? You
know, they don't. They don'ttake dang gay fever that seriously, but
they take COVID that seriously. Doesn'tmake any sense to me. Well,
dangy feer is like malaria, surevaccines exactly. It's a big deal.

(52:51):
Oh gee, hydroxychloric one. Ohyeah, that's the truth, you know.

our listeners, sir over twenty one, I suspect, Oh my goodn so,
thank goodness, Beryl has made itsway well to the north and actually

it's a little dryer and not quiteas hot. But we still do have
a heat advisory today for most ofthe day because with our typical humidity,
the heat and disease are going tobe around one hundred or slightly higher.

we can't get it confirmed that perhapshe has Parkinson's. That there's been a

Even the mainstream networks are starting toreport on this. Here's what he had
to say about the current symptoms hesees from President Biden, what you saw
at the debate, the last fewinterviews, the way he speaks, the
way maybe he walks. Have younoticed anything that gives you a red flag

(01:00:15):
as a doctor? Oh? Yeah, I see him twenty times a day
in clinic. I mean it's ironicbecause he has just such classic features of
nerd degeneration. I mean word findingdifficulties. And that's not oh I couldn't
find the word. That's from degenerationof the word retrieval area. He's also
overcome stuttering though, could that Couldthat be part of that too? No,
this is not a palattle issue ora speech discrepancy, which is very

go back to that, the rigidity, loss of arms swings standing up

It's not a quick turn. Sothat's one of the hallmarks of Parkinson's

(01:00:58):
is rigidity and bray of kinesia, slow movement, and he has that hallmark,
especially with the low voices. Thatwas a cold hypophonia. A small
monotone voice like this over time isa hallmark of Parkinson. Is that whisper

I mean, there's just no denyingthat he is cognitively challenged. I
wonder if in a devious way they'retrying to pick on him, because look
what happened to Trump when he gothis mugshot taken, he got thrown in

I don't know, Jimmy, lookslike straight for Detroit. Houston will build
from Beryl as we did from Harvey, and we're going to have to rebuild
as we did from Harvey, Ikeand other storms. And despite this struggling

(01:06:59):
national ECONO, Houston economy at leastwhen it comes to construction is not really
missing a beat right now. Construction'sdoing surprisingly well. We didn't expect it

Joe Biden raging, mumbling through aninterview on MSNBC, especially about the number
of Democrats calling for him to dropout of the race. I got a
pretty good political instinct and I andhere's the deal. It's not going to

(01:08:26):
happen here this time around. TheAmerican public is not going to move away
from me as an average voter.Biden on morning, Joe Biden did some

still crossing the border. They justaren't being caught. They figured, well,
even they're not going to be ableto turn themselves in, we're going
to adjust and bring these people undetectedinto the country. And that's exactly what's
happening. Former Homeland Security Agent VictorO. Avylaw told KTRH. Even these
lower numbers Biden is bragging about arestill a crisis. Remember even Jay Johnson,

back to Houston's morning News. Notan extrovert. Five thirty eight is their

(01:11:12):
time here in Houston's boy News.Don't talk to me, leave me alone.
That's what introverts are, I guess, prefer to be alone than to
be around a bunch of other people, while extroverts are more people person oriented.
What they don't know. Here's whatthey do know. Extroverts make more
money than introverts. And that makessense because you're more willing to interact with
your boss, you're more willing tointeract with your co workers, you're more

(01:11:36):
willing to just interact in general. So you're kind of out there. I
mean, extroverts can get to thepoint of being slightly obnoxious with it when
they don't understand they're invading your personalspace. But jerly speaking, it's a
much more effective way to make aliving than being an introvert who prefers to
kind of be alone and quiet anddon't you know, don't get overly involved

(01:12:00):
in anything and blah blah blah. What they don't know is why extroverts or
introverts are the way they are.Is it an inherited personality trait from somewhere,
Is it nature or nurture. Isit the way you're brought up or
it is is it just your inherentpersonality? What do you think Shara,

(01:12:21):
I think it's inherent no introverted kids. Sure, extroverts and extreme extroverts have
a hard time understanding introverts, butonce you figure it out, it's really
amazing. Yeah. And I thinkthere's all sorts of different sliding scale between
the two. Yeah, I know, people, I think. I think

(01:12:43):
I'm somewhere in the middle of thatscale. I like my alone time.
I like the quiet. I don'tneed to have a bunch of people around
me to enjoy myself. I findintroverts to be incredibly inventive. So this
whole money thing, I don't know. You know, maybe you get on
better with your bosses if you anextrovert, but it seems to me,
what if you're the boss. Iknow, I know a lot of introverts

(01:13:05):
who are boss that they make alot of money. Yeah, they do.
And and you know, the greatthing is a point well made because
if you are alone a lot, then you have a lot of time to
think. You know, they saythe best way, the real definition.
It's not that you don't like people, it's just the crowds wear you out.
Yes, it just takes too muchenergy. So if I get inspired

(01:13:27):
by crowds, I love crowds.I get hyper in crowds, as you
well know, but introverts not somuch. It means that it doesn't mean
they can't interact, but there's apoint where it's like I need to go
home now and get myself together. And when you see that, you think,
well, I think it's selective too, because Elizabeth is very much that
way. She does not like crowds. Crowds, Oh yeah, she's she's

(01:13:51):
almost frightened by big crowds. She'scharming, and she's very extroverted. I
mean, she's very personal. Imean, and she'll talk to any and
she'll talk to anybody. But yeah, it's more of a one on one
or a small group versus a largegroup by forty one time for traffic and
weather together. Hey sky Mike, there's no doubt what you are, buddy.
Yeah. I think that's a yearand a stream extrovert slood. I

(01:14:14):
think you know. Tone it downis something I hear everywhere. You're a
sheriff friar and the barade run hitterwhere the water canon is Oh yeah yeah,
well yeah, the Shoeman Bart Festival, you're welcome for that. Let's
head for the kdie Freeway inbound.I've got this closure at Studemont coming into
downtown. What they've had to dois they've also closed the ramp that takes
you to forty five North. Idon't know exactly where this flooding is,

(01:14:35):
but you know white Oak BAYU isright there, so it could be a
lot of spots. But either way, North Freeway is shut down between Patton
and Downtown. On the inbound andthen outbound off the Pier elevated from Franklin

Texas actually looking good now, andthis would be a good time to get

(01:14:58):
six' ten, let's do that. If you don't have to work downtown.
If you're working downtown, remember yourside streets like Shephard Memorial, Allen

Smith, Baryl Barrel go away, ruins someone else's day? Whose days get

(01:15:47):
It's not wins because Beryl has obviouslyweakened considerably, but a lot of
tropical moisture with this thing and it'scoming down there, so flooding's the main
concern. In fact, flooding fromBaryl could extend as far north as Michigan.
So yeah, rather soggy day today, you know. And it's not

(01:16:08):
much fun along the east and westcoast because we've got all kinds of heat
advisories and excessive heat warnings. Sowe're in the midst of summer. We
have a heat advisory. Temperatures todaywill be in the load of mid nineties.
The heat index in and of itselfis nothing out of the norm for
US, somewhere between ninety eight andone six. But because so many don't

Harris County Office of Emergency Management. Is you take a look at the damage
around Harris County? Brian, wheredo you think we're at here? As
far as the recovery mode? Youknow, I was listening to you talk

(01:19:29):
about you know, looking out thewindow and you know, the sun was
out and the sky was blue yesterdayafternoon, and unfortunately that's part of our
problem. We don't really know yet. We haven't had the opportunity to be
out in the community. That's goingto start today Harris County Engineering. We'll
have teams out assessing damage around thecounty. That's going to go to formulating
the county's damage assessment, which wewill then forward to the state, which
will then eventually get forward to thefederal government and that starts that whole ball

(01:19:53):
of you know, applying for federalair rolling. I'm not sure how that's
going to turn out yet, butyou know, we will begin that problem
us today with doing the initial damageassessment. What is what is it that
you're assessing. Are you assessing thebyways, the drainage down, what are
you assessing exactly as a count Alittle bit of everything. It's a little

(01:20:14):
bit of everything, you know.Obviously, we're you know, looking for
damage to county facilities. We're lookingto damaged infrastructure, whether that's roads,
whether that's drainage, whether that's watersystems. Then we're also looking at what
does the damage look like on ahousehold basis. You know, are we
seeing houses that are destroyed partially destroyed? You know, maybe that a tree
on the roof. You know whatdoes that look like? Because all of

(01:20:35):
those things are considerations when determining exactlyhow badly we've been hurt. We know
we have residents who are suffering, but all of that relief stems from starting
to understand where we are hurting.Let me ask you this, how can
you help people individually? I mean, you've got a tree on your house.
You assess that damage, and youyou start getting state help, but

(01:20:57):
the immediate need is to get thattree removed. Is that something that the
county does or is this really yourely on? My neighbors were out with
hack saws yesterday because they didn't havepower for power selling. So the most
amazing things to me about Harris Countyresidence is that tend to be pretty resilient
in most of those cases. Andnot only that, that tend to be
pretty generous. So every time afterthe disaster, whether it was the direction

(01:21:18):
and I'm sure we saw this yesterdaytoo, you know, people will be
out with chainsaws taking care of damagein their yard and probably their neighbors too
if they need to. Those whodo not have those resources or neighbors who
can do that, you can dialto one one. That's the United Way
of Greater Houston. They're going tobe able to hook people up to the
different volunteer networks that can help withthose things. I don't know where they

(01:21:39):
are right now. Obviously, yesterdaywas kind of a blank day, not
a whole lot was able to happen. But we should see those things start
taking off today a little more inearnest. Yeah, one of the things
I'm often struck by is how manyflooding issues that we have on our roads.
And we know that we know wehave the infrastructure problems that we have,
but we really have not adequately addressedthose. I'm sure we've gotten federal
aid in the past. Is aidgone to where it's supposed to go in

(01:22:00):
order to be able to fix theseproblems going forward? You know, I
think we saw following Hurricane Harvey thebond issue there was a massive federal dollars
that is still coming in. So, yes, it is going to address
the drainage problems we have. Abig part of our problem, honestly,
is we're a lot of concrete. There are as many places for the water

(01:22:23):
to soak into the dirt anymore. So you know that's a problem we're probably
stuck with. But you know, the Hairstonty Club Control District, Harsh County
Engineering, a lot of our partnersin the region. We've all been investing
in different mitigation programs to try andyou know, help that water flow out
as opposed to into our homes. You're pretty to an emergency management service obviously,

(01:22:45):
and we would think that that wouldused to be central command where you
had a very good eye on whatwas happening all across the county. Were
you suffering some power problems too,and just getting information in yesterday? I
mean it was pretty wild. Ithink it was, you know, the
lack of having eyes in the fieldthat was probably hurting us for a little
bit yesterday. I mean, ifyou were looking out the window between about

(01:23:09):
nine am, eight am and noonyesterday, you know, the wind was
blowing extremely hard, the ring wascoming down horizontally. There was not a
fit place for people to be out. We started getting a little more information,
you know, in the afternoon, but it's frustrating for us. Sure,
are we really do depend on knowingwhat's going on, and yesterday was
a little tough for us, okay, well, and it's gonna be tough

(01:23:30):
for the next few days. Wetried to get the power back and things
back under control. But thank youfor joining us. Appreciate you. Thanks

(01:26:50):
it really all could have been alot worse. I've not had any reports
at the operations center of any massivedamage at this point. Clearly damaged trees
down, uprooted lines down, buildingsdown, a lot of damage, but
nothing major yet reported. Yeah,it's Governor Patrick on KTRH. More and

(01:27:13):
more closures and cancelations this morning, including a leaf Cleveland and conro isds.
We have the list KTRH dot com. Beryl was a killer storm, though
at least seven people lost their lives, including an HBD civilian employee who is
trying to get to work and gotcaught in floodwaters. He came off forty

It is six h five White Housevisitor logs revealing that a top Parkinson's expert

(01:28:46):
has visited the White House eight timesbetween last July and this past March,
including one visit with President Joe Biden'spersonal doctor. Officials snapping at reporters who
actually asked questions about it. Ido take offense sometimes I don't have the
information, and I will always alwaysadmit that, but I do take offense

(01:29:11):
to what was just happening at thebeginning of this briefing, it's not okay,
spokes President Korean Jean Pierre, notexpanding on the questions that were asked.
We now know that the president's positionthough doctor Kevin O'Connor was involved in
the Biden family business, well,we know that doctor O'Connor was involved in
a shady scheme that dealt with thefailing healthcare company America or Health House Service

(01:29:38):
Side Committee Chairman James Comer has itin testimony, and he's now demanding that
O'Connor himself, the doctor, cometestify for Congress. Yet another House Democrat
calling for Biden to end his runfor a second term in the White House.
I think he should step aside.I think it's become clear that he's
not the best person to carry theDemocratic message. Washington Congressman Adam Smith on

(01:30:01):
CNN. It's now six oh seven. Sentencing for President Trump and the Manhattan
Bookkeeking trial has been delayed until September, but Texas based appellatd attorney Byron Henry
says, look that case is notover yet. From a legal standpoint,
it makes sense for a court totap the brakes. It maybe that this
doesn't affect it at all. Ithink the real question is is there jail

(01:30:25):
time, and if so, ishe remanded that day? He will have
the opportunity as all other defendant tofile an appeal, all coming from Supreme
Court decisions. We're to see whathappens with Trump's other cases too, they
could all be changed. A weekaway from the start of the Republican National
Convention, Republicans will gather in Milwaukeestarting July fifteenth to formally nominate Donald Trump
for president and officially launched the twentytwenty four general election campaign. GOP strategist

(01:30:48):
flat to vidiots. As the partyenters this convention in better shape than any
recent presidential election year. Four yearsago, you really had enough time because
COVID really dampened a lot of theenthusiasm. And in twenty sixteen it was
still not foregone conclusion that there alooking nominee was going to win the old
lobbs. And this is the muchmore positive anticipatory elements in this particular convention.

(01:31:10):
Trump is expected to announce his vicepresidential nominee at the convention. The
party will also adopt its official platform. Coryelson News Radio seven forty KTRH recapping
the top stories one point eight millionCenter Point customers with no power in the
aftermath of the hurricane, but crewshope to have a million of those restored
by the end of the day tomorrow. And we have a death toll of

(01:31:31):
seven people in the Houston region killedby the storm. I'm sure for Friar
A News Radio seven forty KTRH,Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Verrett and
Sheriff Fryar. I feel like wemaybe we've done a little bit on this
story before, but the timing seemsgood. Again. I know this is

(01:31:53):
anecdotal on my part, but asyou know, I'm sure I have kind
of a weird obsession with the realestate market. I don't know why that
it is, so I really liketo follow trends as far as what's going
on with the home buying and homeselling, and even in my little neighborhood,
see what's going on, and rightnow, houses in my neighborhood are
not really selling, at least they'renot selling any very quickly. They're taking

(01:32:15):
quite a while to sell. Anda lot of it has to do,
obviously with what's going on with mortgagerates right now and home prices being where
they are, they haven't really dropped. So buyers find themselves in kind of
a conundrum. I'd buy the houseif I could find a cheaper mortgage,
or the price has to come downso it's more affordable on a monthly basis

(01:32:35):
to buy the house. So inanswer to that, and this is kind
of like for those of us who'vebeen around for a while, you may
recall this back in the nineteen seventiesthat this sort of happened, same kind
of thing. Interest rates went wayup and home prices weren't crazy high back
then, but interest rates ended upputting a lot of people out of the
ability to buy home. When youhave a mortgage rate that's like thirteen fourteen,

(01:32:58):
fifteen percent, pretty tough to sell. So sellers started, you know,
people who didn't have to get alltheir equity out of the home.
You know that maybe they were gettingready to retire whatever, and looked at
it, it is perhaps another wayto make money with the home other than
running it out, decided well, maybe i'll sell it to I'll finance it
myself. The home is paid for, I'm you know, at that time,

(01:33:23):
the going interest rate was like tenand a half percent I'll offer this
young couple of you know, aseven and a half percent mortgage and they'll
be ecstatic because it's seven and ahalf percent instead of ten and a half
percent. And I'll be making moneymore than I could make it if I
had stuck in the bank winter winterchicken dinner. And evidently that's making a

(01:33:44):
comeback now where where people are lookingto do self financing. You know.
The downside, of course, isyou got to wait for your money.
The upside is it's it's you know, kind of like you know, right,
you're making money every month, andif you just want to use that
as supplemented income, maybe that works. Six eleven time for traffic and weather
together. Skybike. What's going on? The big thing, of course?
Downtown Still, I'm watching I fortyfive off Franklin. This is the first

(01:34:06):
traffic jam we've actual traffic jam likeon a normal day we've had since the
storm. And this is forty fivePierce Elevated northbound. They're forcing everybody off
to it in eastbound lanes. Youcan't go off of just north of Franklin
Street out of downtown and also southfrom Patton. That's a complete closure of
the north Freeway, something to dowith White Oak Bayou, which is usually

(01:34:30):
a trouble spot when we have thesestorms. Also the Kadie Freeway inbound,
I'm showing a closure at Studamon.I don't have eyes on that. But
also the ramp obviously that takes youto forty five north. You can't do
that either. It's high water aroundthe underpasses around Memorial and Allen Parkway,
but the main lanes of Memorial AllenParkway are good to go. Just expect
to be re routed in spots. And of course we've got lights out all

(01:34:54):
over the place if you're a pilot. By the way, I noticed that
the tower on Patton Street just fortyfive right by the Loves, I didn't
see any lights on that. Andalso i'd really watch that tower that's on
Jensen just east of downtown. Nolights there. That thing would not be
good for a helicopter. Gary fromgranger Land is usually doing the east text

Terry Smith is here. You know, it's just a little insulting that put
up with ninety three degrees when onepoint eight million people do not have their
electricity, Terry Smith. But Iguess that's that's what happens when you have

(01:36:00):
a hurricane in July, right,Yes, Well, we had all that
humidity ahead of it and the heavyrains, and so that's keeping the humidity
high. There's been some slightly drierair that's moved in, but the ground
is so humid that we're just goingto be feeling it. It's July.
This is typical July. Thank goodness. It's just normal July and not some

(01:36:25):
of those hot temperatures we had earlier. But expect temperatures mainly in the low
nineties. Really through much of theweek, we are dry. There's not
going to be any rain coming downtoday. But because of temperature's low nineties
and the high humidity, there isa heat advisory just so that people are
being a little extra cautious as westart to clean up after a barrel blasted

There is a twenty percent chance ofa thundershower tomorrow, and then by the

All right, I think this ispretty smart. The Republicans have released
a very simple platform. Twenty pointsin the platform which I will give to
you right now, which basically readslike a Donald Trump speech, only much

(01:39:26):
more concise. You're ready, okay. Number one, seal the border,
stop the migrant invasion. Number two, carry out the largest deportation operation in
American history. Number three end inflationand make America affordable again. Number four,
make America the dominant energy producer inthe world by far. Number five
Stop outsourcing and turn the United Statesinto a manufacturing superpower. You like it

(01:39:50):
so far? What's not the like? Right? Number six? Large tax
cuts for workers, no tax ontips. Yeah, you found a winner
with that one. Number seven defendour Constitution, our Bill of Rights,
in our fundamental freedoms, including freedomof speech, freedom of religion, and
the right to keep in bare arms. Number eight. Prevent World War III,

(01:40:10):
restore peace in Europe and in theMiddle East, and build a great
iron dome missile defense shield over ourentire country. All made in America.
Wow. Number nine. In theweaponization of government against the American people.
Number ten. Stop the migrant crimeepidemic. Demolish the foreign drug cartels,
crush gang violence, and lock upviolent offenders. Man, this is good

(01:40:34):
stuff. Number eleven. Rebuild ourcities, including Washington, d C.
Making them safe, clean, andbeautiful again. Number twelve. Strengthen and
modernize our military, making it,without question, the strongest and most powerful
in the world. Number thirteen.Keep the US dollars the world's preserve currency.
Number fourteen. Fight for and protectSocial Security and Medicare with no cuts,

(01:40:55):
including no changes to the retirement age. That's pretty succinct, that,
you know, for those on theleft who want to say that the Republicans
want to do a way with socialsecurity. That makes it pretty clear.
I would hope where was I lala la la. Number fifteen canceled the
electric vehicle mandate and cut costly andburden some regulations. Number sixteen cut federal

(01:41:18):
funding for any school pushing critical racetheory, radical gender ideology, and other
inappropriate racial, sexual, or politicalcontent on our children. Number seventeen keep
men out of women's sports. Numbereighteen to port pro hamas radicals and make
our college campuses safe and patriotic again. Number nineteen secure our elections, including

(01:41:39):
same day voting, voter identification, paper ballance, and proof of citizenship.
And number twenty unite our country inbringing in a new and record levels of
success. That's pretty good stuff.Signed party is going to sign off to
it. Will they actually well,if you elect those down ballid people,
will they actually help him accomplish that? Let's hope. So we saw what

(01:42:01):
happened last time, Yeah, wedid. The thing I like about it
though, is unlike most you know, if you were to pick up a
copy of most party platforms, theycome out of conventions. I mean,
it's like reading a stereo warranty manual, you know, It's it's like reading
directions on how to put together something. How sad that you have to swear
to uphold the Constitution It is sad. It's sad that that any of these

(01:42:24):
things are not givens, but inright now they aren't given. So I'm
glad they're not. I'm glad they'resending him. Take twenty seven. It

Now, the Greater Houston area todayonce again cleaning up from a hurricane.
This time barrel. As of thismorning, one point eight million customers without

(01:45:23):
end of tomorrow. I don't wantto speculate, but given the damage and
just the amount of customers that wehave, out restoration is going to take
us several days. Yeah, CenterPoints Alicia o'shelvey. More than two hundred

and internet outages with AT and T, Verizon Exfinity and a statement to KTRH,

including a seventy three year old grandmotherkilled when a tree fell in her

(01:46:31):
know, I took out the wholeroom upstairs and the room downstairs. That
woman's son. One of the otherdeaths was a civilian employee of HPD on
his way back to work, gotcaught in floodwater near downtown. If you're

but officials say they're waiting for afull assessment before they make any comment.
City of Houston has announced that Monday'sgarbage and heavy tree waste will be

(01:47:18):
collected today. That was yesterday,it will be collected today, and storm
debris collection will also resume. Violentcrime continuing, though in Barrel's aftermath,
an HPD officer shot in the thighresponding to a disturbance in northwest Houston last
night. That officer, an elevenyear veteran, is in stable condition.

(01:47:38):
The shooter is in custody. It'snow six point thirty five. Donald Trump,
he's made an assessment about what hesees in Joe Biden and what he
saw during that debate last month. And when he started to speak, I
don't know. I thought his voicewas weak. I didn't know exactly what
was happening. He was strange.Trump did tell k to Sean Hannity,

(01:48:00):
he thinks Biden, though, willremain in the race. Then Joe Biden
himself, well, he was laughingat the valid questions about his cognitive state.
Have you been tested for any agerelated illnesses, pre Parkinson's or anything
like that that might explain sort ofhaving a night like that where you couldn't
finish sentences. Okay, Biden onMSNBC it was a twenty minute rambling interview

(01:48:31):

on the campaign trail yesterday. Butthe first lady was we can't take anything

inadequate, not helping them live. But his financial planner, Richard Rosso says,
social Security was never meant to beanybody's retirement plan. It wasn't supposed

(01:51:10):
bodies in their twenties. Used tobe just something. If you want to
go way back to the history, tattoos used to be something mainly limited to
the military, especially the Navy. They'd get tattoos, and you know,
it's it's always been fairly popular foryoung people. But it seems like they're
adding more and more tattoos over moreand more of the body. We used

(01:51:31):
to have rules, or they usedto. I used to be told that
there's certain rules if you want toget a tattoo. There's certain things you
should think about before you get atattoo. Number One, the subject matter.
If you're twenty one and you're gettingthis tattoo, is the subject matter
still going to be relevant when you'rethirty one? All right? How about
when you're forty one, when you'refifty one, when you're sixty one,

(01:51:57):
Will you look in the mirror atthe age of seventy and be embarrassed by
what you see? If for noother reason then it's not the same shape
it used to be in. It'sshifted, and where is the tattoo?
Because certain tattoos, whether you likeit or not, have stigmas. There's
a reason why they call it atramp stamp. Yeah. Yeah, And

(01:52:18):
there are plenty of young women who'vegotten a tattoo in that particular spot and
then they want to do something. The story I saw this in was a
young woman who wants to be amodel and she has a big tattoo on
her chest. Doesn't seem like somethingthat's a good career decision. If that
your desire was to be a model, why would you put something like that

(01:52:41):
on your chest? You know,it kind of limits what you can model
at that point, right. SoI would just say this about anybody considering
a tattoo, just think a littlebit of your future. And I know
how you might feel about it now, but how are you gonna feel about
in the future. And by theway, here's the one thing I would
suggest. Never get a tattoo onyour neck or your face anywhere that is

(01:53:04):
virtually impossible to cover up, becausethere will be times in life where you
would want to cover it up forwhatever reason. And if you have it
in a place where you can't coverit up, then you're really kind of
limiting yourself. It seems to methat the influencers and the popular ones and
these tattoos you do it for yourpeer group. Well, when you're seventy,

(01:53:24):
you're gonna, yeah, you're limitingyourself to your interactions with other human
beings throughout the rest of your lifebecause you're the people who are twenty.
When you're twenty, you know they'renot going to be there. They're going

you're gonna have nothing. Yeah,I would I would say that you should

something that, for whatever reason,is important to you. But again,
it's got to be something reasonable. We have a lot of influencers online.

who would succeed him as President ofthe United States now, of course,
would be Kamala Harris. I thoughtI was kind of telling Sulcy Gabbert.

Course she's no longer a Democrat. But Tulca Gabbert was asked whether or not,
first of all, whether or notshe thought that the current Vice president
of the United States had the smartsto be president of the United States.
Do you think she actually thinks she'ssmart and effective? And if so,
why without a doubt she believes this? I can't even begin to analyze why

(02:08:41):
that is the case. But look, you know, she has been unqualified
to serve as vice president and isnot qualified or capable at all for the
very real prospect that if Biden wins, she will be president of United States.
That's a fact, regardless of who'son the top of the ticket.

(02:09:03):
As the Democrats figure this thing out, whether it's Biden, Harris or Harris,
whoever a president, Kamala Harris willbe our commander in chief. And
I can tell you, as asoldiers deployed to multiple war zones, and
I can speak for a lot ofmy brothers and sisters in uniform, that
prospect should be terrifying for all Americans. She is incapable and unqualified to be

(02:09:24):
our country's commander in chief, whichthen leads to what I know to be
certain. Just as Joe Biden isnot calling the shots on our foreign policy,
he's got Tony Blincoln and Hillary Clintonand Jake Sullivan and Lloyd Austin and

elected, who are actually making thesedecisions related to our foreign policy, who

it will be it's a very safe, safe state making these decisions that have
that have done such great harm toour own national security and to our freedom

as a country. Don't you kindof have to assume at this point that
it doesn't really matter who the Democratfl like barriers, whoever it is who's

still with no power. That's alot of folks to try to bring back,
isn't it? Good morning? Thankyou for having me. Yes,
we know that we have still alot of work ahead of us, but
the crews are making steady progress. And you mentioned before we've got actually nearly

(02:17:05):
twelve thousand workers, line workers andvegetation management professionals that when all have descended
upon Houston, will be working torestore our customers as quickly as they can.
Are you having to clear out someof that vegetation which was the cause
of the lines coming down? Isthat your first step before you can start

(02:17:26):
restoring? And how do you goabout this when it's something that can't be
repaired and has to be utterly replaced. Sure, so I'd love to go
into the restoration process just a littlebit. What you mentioned is correct.
Before we can even begin repairs,we've got to get in there and cut
and clear debris that's impacting our equipmentin our system. So we've got those

(02:17:48):
crews that are clearing the various vegetationthat has been has been damaging our system
as a result of the storm.Once that can be cleared, our damage
is used, are putting together visualsthat will help us be able to develop
those restoration plans. At that point, then our crews can come out with

(02:18:09):
the appropriate equipment whatever that equipment isneeded to make the particular repairs and get
to work. So while it isa lengthy process, we're moving as safely
and as quickly as we can.We do understand that our customers are dealing
with extreme heat. You know,it's very much an inconvenience to be without
power, and we understand that, and we're working as quickly as we can.

(02:18:31):
I guess, Alicia, the goodnews is is that at least you
had some warning on this storm. We knew that a hurricane was coming in
our direction, so it allows youto get some assets put into place,
Unlike the derecho we had earlier inthe year, where it just boom,
It just popped up and tore upa whole bunch of equipment and you don't
you didn't know it was coming, that's right. We did have several days
notice where we activated our emergency responseplan and so then we began to look

(02:18:54):
at various reports from storm experts onwhat they thought this storm would bring to
our area. Now, there isa certain level of unpredictability that comes with
these storms, and we saw that. So Hurricane Beryl brought more damage and
impacted us in our system in agreater way than what perhaps had been predicted.

(02:19:15):
So we did prepare, We calledupon mutual assistance crews to assist us,
be ready to assist us immediately afterthe storm. But then as that
storm came through yesterday, there wasmore damage than what was anticipating. Can
we made that additional call? CanI ask you quickly, how do you
prioritize? Do you do the bigsystems FURST? Do you do certain neighborhoods

(02:19:37):
furs? How do you go aboutdoing this? Sure? So we are
trying to get as many customers onas we can. So part of our
prioritization is looking for where we canbring on as many customers at one time,
also prioritizing critical care facilities, soemergency centers, hospitals, educational centers.
Trying to prioritize those centers as wellas bring on as many customers as

(02:20:01):
at a time as we can.How we begin that prioritization all right,
Alicia, thanks for all the goodinformation. Do appreciate it, appreciate your

Trump remains calm and coming up atseven thirty eight reaction to the news that
are neurologist has visited the White Houseeight times in eight months. Details and

(02:21:31):
the minutes ahead, And you're inHouston's Barning News. First, we're checking
out the drive time. Here's skyMike. All right, release the Katie
Freeway drivers that sendbown. We've clearedthat closure at Yale due to high water.
We've still got some stuff going onin the frontage roads outside of Highway
six. The other side of ITMWest is pretty iffy. You've got an
accident just passed Saint Arnold at theHardy exit, and that is on the

(02:21:54):
westbound side to twenty five. I'mtaking two twenty five and Richie out of
your in car navigation. You correctme if I'm wrong. It looks to
me like two twenty five's wide openfrom one forty six Golf Freeway, got
some closures and the feeders and fortyfive North Freeways completely shut down from Cavalcade
to downtown both ways. Skymike andthe Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center from

with a high temperature right about ninetythree, we'll get Terry Smith in here
from the Weather Channel with an updateon the forecast. Get about eight minutes
right now, temperature is seventy sixat your official severe weather station. News
Radio seven forty k TRH. It'stime for the news. Here's Sheriff Ryer
and good morning. Everyone's seven thirtytwo on news Radio seven forty KTRH and

(02:22:39):
our top story this hour. Prettyscary, right, It happened very quickly,
faster than Harvey. At Woman withour TV partner channel to Houston recovering
from Hurricane Barrel. As of thismorning's still one point seven million customers now
without power, down from a highof two point two million. We understand

(02:23:01):
what families are going through, certainlywith the loss of power. I do
not have power at my house.Center point is there in everything they can.
They've brought in ten thousand additional personnel. Houston Mayor John whitmaer that now
more than three hundred and eighty fivethousand have had their power restored so far.

(02:23:22):
Another day of closures today. CheckKTRH dot com to see with that
list. Beryl killed at least sevenpeople in the Houston area, including a
seventy three year old grandmother who diedwhen a tree fell in her house in
North Harris County. I'm gonna loweralways, and you know there's not enough
stupid just to keep going forward.Woman's son there. One of the other

(02:23:46):
deaths, a civilian employee of HBDon his way back to work, got
caught in floodwaters. The storm's totaldeath toll now at least eighteen. That
would be including deaths in the Caribbeanand Mexico. Bush and Hobby airports running
a limit. It's scheduled today isso if you're traveling, check your carrier.
Hundreds of flights have already been canceledtoday out of the two airports.

(02:24:07):
Continued Internet issues Yes AT and TVerizon in Exfinity, we can't get much
information from any of them. Wealso saw structural damages from the storm.
Part of the roof was sheared offof Saint Luke's Hospital in Lake Jackson.
The roof at Energy Stadium reportedly isdamage. Officials won't confirm until they can
get a full assessment. Monday's garbageand heavy tree waste will be collected today

(02:24:30):
in the City of Houston, andstorm damage collection will also resume today.
Beryl now a tropical depression threatening Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri before it moves
further up the line. Ultimately,it looks like it sort of peters out
in Detroit or near Detroit. Houstonwill rebuild from Beryl as we did from
Harvey, Ike and the other storms. And despite the struggling national economy,

(02:24:54):
the Houston economy, at least whenit comes to construction, it's on par.
Construction's doing surprisingly well. We didn'texpect it to do as well this
year. Amount of construction contracts issuedso far this year well above this time
last year. Patrick Jenkowski with aGreater Houston Partnership, expecting that trend to
continue too, and adds at higherinterest rates, not really having the effect

(02:25:16):
on construction that he would have thoughtviolent crime did not stop for Beryl and
HPD officers shot in the thigh instable condition after responding to a disturbance in
Northwest Houston last night. The shooteris in custody. It's seven thirty five.
Well, here's a comparison. DonaldTrump sitting down with k t Orhs
Sean Hannity for an exclusive interview lastnight. We're heading into World War three,

(02:25:41):
in my opinion, with this mansemi running things. Because he's not
running things. Trump predicting Biden willstay in the race, however, because
he says his ego and Joe Bidenraging and mumbling through an interview on MSNBC,
especially about the number of Democrats nowpublicly calling for him to drop out.

(02:26:01):
I've got a pretty good political instinctand I and here's the deal.
It's not going to happen here thistime around. The American public is not
going to move away from me asan average voter talking by telephone Biden on
Morning Joe, he was doing thephone interviews. It was the first lady
who was out on the campaign trail. Donald Trump wakes up every morning thinking

(02:26:26):
about one person, and one person, only himself. We know what Donald
Trump was like as Commander in chief, Jill Biden in North Carolina is seven
thirty six. Here in Texas lawmakerswhen they gather in January, the Republicans
say, yes, they had theirpriorities, eight of them, and they're

(02:26:48):
going to do them and sharl oneof the big ones. No more Democrat
chair positions. The Texas House doesthat. They give massive amounts of power
to Democrats. That's in the formof chairmanships of committees. The Texas Senate
does not. And so the RepublicanParty of Texas has prioritized ending this practice
in the Texas House. That ispolitical commentator Luke Messias. Ending Democrat chairmanships

(02:27:13):
in the Texas House has five tosix times more support than it ever has.
I think the likelihood that we bannedDemocrat chairs is maybe seventy five percent.
We've got a very good shot atit, along with an even better
shot of replacing House Speaker Dade Feelin. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty KT
ORH seven thirty seven. Now Astro'shosting Miami Tonight pregame at six on Sports

(02:27:35):
Talk seven ninety first pitch seventy ten, and it will be on both seven
ninety and here on KTRH recapping,of course, the top story, one
point seven million now Center POY customerswith no power in the aftermath of Hurricane
Barrel. They restored it under anotherone hundred thousand this morning, another fourteen
thousand just a few minutes ago.Oh good, yep, so we're making

(02:27:56):
progress, Thank you power crewse hopeto have a million customers restored by the
end of the day tomorrow. Atleast seven people have been killed in our
area in the storm. I'm sureryar On news radio seven forty KTRH,
Michael Berry only endorses Texas Renters dotcom for property management needs. How bad
things are the twenty twenty four elections? What's really happening? Everything in your

(02:28:20):
world? Here and abroad news Radioseven forty KTRH. We were all a
little busy yesterday, was the Aneurologist evidently has been to the White House
eight times in the last eight months, clearly there to see President Biden.
Although trying to get Kareem, JeanPierre or anybody in the White House to

(02:28:41):
admit that is good luck on that. Here's a reaction though, from Greg
Guttfeld on the News on the fiveMy advice at Kareean Jean Pierre's. You
know, when people are talking aboutthe president being near death, don't wear
a white coat. What kind ofreassurance is that to dress like a visiting
angel. You know, at leastyou left the stethoscope with doctor Evil,

(02:29:03):
I mean doctor Jill. Yeah. But one thing that was overlooked by the
press was that the President said whenthey were asked about his health, he
said, don't worry, it's justmy brain. Think about that's like being
That's like, you know, askydiver telling a first time jumper, don't
worry. It's since the parachute. It's kind of scary. And you know,

(02:29:28):
this is why it kind of upsetsme. If you've ever tried to
get somebody into assisted living, ithard, takes a lot of effort,
it's a lot of heartache, butyou do it because it's your family.
That's why you have a family. The Biden family is not my family.
Joe Biden is not my dad. This is not America's problem. This is
the responsibility of a horrendous family ignoringa huge responsibility for the sake of preserving

(02:29:58):
their power, their force. Thisproblem on three hundred million strangers, you
know. And I think what's missinghere is shaming them, shaming them for
what they're doing. They're acting likethey're going to get away with this.
The fight isn't over twenty twenty four. The fight is over his resignation.
He can't focus on the election becausethat's what Doctor Evil wants you to do.

(02:30:18):
He's not fit to be president rightnow. So if they don't replace
him this week or next week, what is that telling you? That tells
you that they're comfortable with him notbeing in charge and that he's not been
in charge for a while, becausethey don't see it as a big deal.
If he's not present now, thestock market's not even breaking a sweat.
So clearly all the people in powerknow that somebody else is pulling the

(02:30:41):
levers. It's kind of strange. It's like over the intercom somebody telling you
in a jet airliner, both pilotshave had cardiac arrests, but don't worry.
The plane practically flies itself. Well, that plane is our country,
Yeah it is. But I don'tthink there's anybody really laboring under this fision
that it's been in any other wayhere for the last almost four years seven

(02:31:03):
one time for traffic and weather together. Just your brain sky, Mike.
Don't worry about what do you needthat for anyway, just gets in the
way as long as I can talk. Let's go to Southwest Freeway at Kirby.
That's an inbound where they've cleared thewreck. The Southwest is maybe one
of our better freeways. This morning. We did have that wreck at Maine.
All that's out of the way.Forget it. Just stay on the
main lanes. Don't do the feeder, especially around the loop here. Something's

(02:31:26):
getting a little crazy around South Maineand the Southway, but I think it's
that light. We always have somekind of junk there northbound. Otherwise the
most city expressway we're getting by.Again, stay on the main lanes.
Because we had a problem at thefeeder road at the Beltway that would be
all ninety west Sam. That feederwas already a disaster around Bisonett up to
bel Air with the roadwork, andit's off looking kind of slow now northbound

(02:31:50):
around West Chase. As we're lookingat the north Belt you have that road
work. Normally we lift construction fordisasters, but we can't pick it up.
At Alding Westfield west or Imperial Valleyeastbound Katie Freeway. Yes, it's
open all the way into downtown exceptthe rent for the North Freeway. North
Freeways also closed. We've been watchingfor gas stations and stuff open. Just

(02:32:11):
to get some food. Let's goto the sticks without power. Nothing is
open, the street lights aren't working. And heading over to own Alaska right
now to see if they're working allright. If you're coming down the East
text truck stops at Wallaceville and theEast Loop or open the Baytown truck stops
Thompson Road, those are open. All the stuff on the air Bush Airport
area greens Alding Westfield that's closed. And also the truck stop just east of

(02:32:35):
forty five on Patent that remains closed. Skymike on the Generator Supercenter, dot
Com Traffic Center by the way,Little Harris County damage assessment from Precinct three
Commissioner Tom Ramsey coming up here inabout another nine to ten minutes, so
stand by for that. First,we've got Terry Smith katrh Generator super Center,
twenty four hour weather Center who's forecastinga day a whole lot different than

(02:32:56):
what we had yesterday, Oh mygoodness. And Thank goodness we have it's
a quiet day. I'm seeing someclouds around. Don't worry about the clouds.
It's going to be a dry dayfor us and just typical Houston heat
and humidity. I hate to saythat, but I'd rather be dealing with
what we're generally accustomed to. Theonly problem is a lot of us don't

(02:33:16):
have power, so that is theconcern. Without power, the heat stress
on the body can be an issue. So extra caution today. Make sure
you're being well hydrated and kind toyour neighbor. Help out load in mid
nineties for highs. We got somerain on the way tomorrow, but it's
only a twenty percent chance of ashower storm. Thursday of forty percent chance

(02:33:41):
of rain, and by the endof the week that's when our rain chances
go up seventy percent chance of showersand storms Friday and Saturday, and fingers
crossed. By then, we're ina much better position than we are today.

This is Houston's morning news, broughtto you by New South Windows Solutions Kiloll
Harris County Precinct three damage assessment comingup with Commissioner Tom Ramsey. He will
join us in about minute and ahalf two minutes, but first we've got
traffic and weather together starting the Usky Mike, let me give Tom Ramsey
some extra time here. Highway sixas a disaster, it's mostly traffic light

(02:34:22):
problems all the way from two ninetyto sixty nine. Forty five's closed from
downtown to the Loop Clyde from ConrodDude Loop three three six south and I'm
forty five all traffic light or bleakin red. Surprise that's not flooded there.
I'm Skymike on the Generator Supercenter dotCom Traffic Center from our KTRH Generator
Supercenter twenty four hour weather center fortoday will become partly clotting and warm for

(02:34:46):
the high temperature right about ninety three. You can add a twenty percent storm
chance to the forecast for tomorrow anda forty percent storm chance to that forecast
for Thursday. Right now seventy sixat your official severe weather station, News

down one hundred thousand. It's nowone point seven million Center Point customers without
power. This morning storm blamed forat least seven deaths across the Houston area,
five of them because of falling trees. That wind was just horrific.
Bush and Hobby Airports on a limitedschedule today, a lot of flights still
canceled. Port of Houston still shutdown. Latest news anytime KTRH dot com.

Our next update will be at thetop of the hour. Do you
understand? Pleased to listen. Icheck in all the time. Keep up
with what's hap her names danying inform matters to the Hues. Radio seven
forty KTRH. Precinct three Commissioner HarrisCounty Commissioner Tom Ramsey joins, us,
I know you're out there touring thecounty yesterday to kind of assess where we're

(02:35:54):
at damage wise. What did youfind out there, Tom, Well,
we got a lot of trees onthe major thoroughfares. That's been kind of
our focus. Uh at this point. Jimmy sheriff. Thank you for continue
providing updates. I know we werewithout power for a significant amount of the
time and we depend on you guyswith your reports. But I'd say right

(02:36:16):
now the early issues in terms ofrecovery has to do with trees. Uh.
Of course, this is our thirdstorm UH in two months. The
first one was a flooding event, and we had a wind event, and
yesterday we had a flood and winningevent that really affected every neighborhood in Harris

(02:36:37):
County. So we are dealing withtrees getting them off of thoroughfairs. Hadn't
really had a lot of flooding atleast in Precinct three. All the all
the UH, all the streams areat flood level, but we haven't had
structural flooding. And let me givea shout out. I know I have
called out UH our northern county interms of putting water, but like Conroe

(02:37:03):
lowered their like one foot, LikeHouston, Lord, they're like one foot.
That makes a world of difference whenyou have as much rain as we
did in such a short period oftime. And we appreciated anybody who's downstream
appreciates it too, you know, even below us I want to ask you
about woodchippers. Does the county havewoodchippers, because it seems to me that's

(02:37:26):
what we need. I know Ineed it in micro I'm not in your
precincts, sadly, but we've gotWe've dragged the limbs out, We've raked
up the stuff. Now what dowe do with it? Who's gonna come
get it? How fast? Andif you could just park some wood chippers
or get them out to the neighborhoods, it would help well. And that's

(02:37:46):
a that's a good dog. Imean, at this point, we're honestly
trying to get the get all thelimbs and the trees up and out and
away. We actually have contractors onthe ground. They were on the within
hours of yesterday. We got twentycrews and just three sinct three and we've
got contractors to haul the debris. They really haul debris to another site and

(02:38:11):
they chip it there. But ittakes in terms of time that would be
difficult. I think to put thetry to deal with process in the wood
in the front yard and try toget it to a central location. And
they honestly do that, chip itup there and then distributed later that's right.

(02:38:33):
You're the commissioner, and I'm notlet me ask you this commissioner ramsay.
And it has to do with thebud districts and some of the boiled
water notices that we've seen from someof them that have had generator issues.
Generally speaking, what are the waterconditions in your part of Harris County?
Is the water all in good shapeor or are there some potential concerns depending

(02:38:54):
on how long it takes to getthe bower back. Well, anytime you
see the power law like we've had, you're going to have pumping pressure issues
and you'll require a TCEEQ to givenotice if the pressure drops blow a certain
amount. So that's why the noticeis doesn't necessarily mean you've got a really

(02:39:15):
at risk water supply, but that'swhy the boil notices that are required to
do that. There as many powerallergies as we have. Obviously, it's
affected cell phone service, it affectswater pressure, all those things. The
two hundred and two MUDs in myprecinct all are dealing with maintaining that pressure,
and you do that through the electricalsupply. Okay, so boil water

(02:39:41):
notices, maybe, how do weget it out because there's a lot coming
across our internet here. Well, well, we're working right now today with
those kinds of notices. I've heardthis morning more about cell phone service than
I have water pressure. But we'regoing to post those both on the city

(02:40:03):
website, I mean the county websitesand the city websites. And by the
way, the four precincts are workingwell with the City of Houston and trying
to get this kind of information outand to the public. But a good
point, glad to hear it.Good, thank you, Thanks commission for
free time. We always do appreciate. That's Precinctree Commissioner Tom Ramsey two hundred

(02:40:24):
and two Mother De six, justin his precinct. Wow, listen,
you'll have a great day. We'llsee you tomorrow morning breaking early at five
AMLC. This afternoon four an am, nine fifty k PRC
