Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coach at halftime, the message was just find a way
to win. Are you happy with how the guys got
it done today?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yeah, I mean it's a little more stressful than I
would have liked, But I think what today showed is
once again the power of team. You know, our defense
was not playing the way that we're capable of playing,
and our offense played great. You know, they played great
in the second half, and we ran the ball. We
went for a fourth and two, we made it, and
it just shows you how important it is to just
stay together as a team. Never point fingers. Just keep grinding,

(00:26):
keep believing, keep working. And I'm proud of those guys.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Obviously there's films a review, but does this feel more
like the run game that you hope to see from
the guys that you haven't seen in a few weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah. And it started with the very first play with
mel breaking that one, and we broke some long ones.
We had some explosives, you know, but we got to
do better on defense. We can't give them what we
gave them today. We gave them a long pass at
the end of the game. We gave him a long
run for a touchdown on fourth and one. I mean,
those things are unacceptable. I know we'll get them cleaned up,
but you know, right now, it's just about enjoying the win.

(00:57):
Now we get to go on the road. You know,
we got three road games to start at UiB a
week from tomorrow, and we just got to get focused
on that.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Carsten Cassidy is a guy as the season has gone on,
swapping new guys in. What did you see out of
him at center?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
It's hard to tell. It's hard for me to tell
what was going on at center, but I know we
ran the ball well and I think we protected pretty well,
so that bodes well for him. Hopefully we get West back.
You know, West brained his ankle last week at the
end of the game, and you know, Carson can play
both guards and he can play center. Needed a hell
of a job as far as I could tell.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
And lastly, Senior Day, it's a little wonky being a
month out from the end of the season, But how
do you think they did managing their emotions and coming
out ready to have that opening snap.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I think they did well. I mean, I think just
the start of the game showed that they were able to,
you know, handle the emotion of seeing you know, moms
and dads and aunts and uncles and grandparents and sisters,
you know, kind of emotional. And I know a lot
of those guys were emotional, especially the guys that have
been here a long long time. But they came back
in here and they got refocused and we went out
and you know, we we got to stop on defense,

(01:55):
and we went down and scored on offense. And that's
what it's supposed to look like.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Congrats on the wind. Will see in Birmingham.
