Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the Yukon Football Coaches Show. Mike chris
Pino along with Jim Moore. We're talking about Duke. They're
in three point thirty kickoff at the Rent. We talked
about Darien Mensa, their quarterback. He's seventy percent accurate on
his throws over twenty five hundred yards, but you have
to throw it to people. And Jim, they've got a
bunch of receivers with high yardage per catch numbers. I

(00:24):
mean Kayshawn Brown fourteen point three a catch, three touchdowns,
Cooper bar Kate, I think that's how he pronounced his name.
Seventeen yards a catch. I'm gonna I'm just gonna make
a wild assumption. You know, they throw the ball down
the field quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, they pushed the ball down the field, and they're
also really good run after the catch guys. You know,
it's certainly the best receiving group that we've faced thus far,
and very impressive, big time players as you'd expect in
the ACC and at a school like Duke, and tremendous
athletic meticism, great chemistry between the quarterback and his receivers,

(01:04):
whether it's tight ends or receivers or backs out of
the backfield. So yeah, I mean they are a prolific
passing attack, but they can still run the ball, you know.
So it's a it's a great challenge for us, and
we're going to have to be at our very very
very very best to defend these guys.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Nate Shephard number twenty, running back, averaging six and a
half yards and carry five touchdowns. Anderson Castle fifty eight
carries five and a half yards. So you know, to
your point, they do run the ball. Well, I mean,
I guess you got to pick your poison. Almost. It's
gonna be tough to defend these guys, and they do
score points. So I'm seeing an offensive game here unfolding.

(01:43):
What do you think.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I don't ever know what's going to happen, Mike, If
I I would drive myself crazy if I tried to predict,
because when I've done that in the past, like, oh,
what kind of game is this going to be? You know,
I don't know that I ever get it right. It's
just you go in and you have a play, and
you need to be ready to adjust that plan, you know,
depending on whatever variables or factors show up. So I

(02:07):
got out of the prediction business a long time ago
because I found it was driving me crazy, you know,
And I think that what's important is that your team
is ready to adjust to whatever is happening in that game.
Whether score, tendency breaks, you know, unscotted looks, injuries, it
doesn't matter. You know, you can't control those things, so

(02:28):
you just focus on the things you can control.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
All right, that's why you got out of ESPN. Good
news us. Let's talk about their defense. I'll tell you what.
I can't wait to see this guy, Vincent Anthony Junior.
He where's number seven. He's a d ND eleven tackles
for lost, six and a half sacks. He's a senior,
very experienced guy, and he's six' Six jim.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Six, Seconds, MIKE i, Know i'm. NOT i don't Think
i'm as excited to see him as you seem to.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Be i'm not that, excited you, Know he's.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Reasoned both of their ends are tremendous, players big time football,
players athleticism and just violent and excellent pass rushers and incredibly.
Disruptive and you, know for all the talk about their,
Defense i'm sure they're they're. Off i'm sorry about their.
Offense i'm sure team times their. Defense you know it's, like,

(03:21):
hey what about, Us, Well i'll tell you about. Them
they are freaking really good and Many, diaz as we all,
know is is an outstanding defensive. Coach you, know he's
he's made his. BONES i mean he you, know he's
a head coach now because one of the reasons because
he was such a great defensive coach and that hasn't.
Changed and you see his fingerprints all over the way they.
PLAY i have great respect For. MANNY i always. Have

(03:42):
i've always thought he was just a great. Coach and you,
know they just look really good on on.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Defense, yeah they're two safeties come to you, know certainly
get your. Attention Caleb, weaver he's a grad, transfer came
from Sam Sam Houston state And Deshaun stone wars number.
Eight he's at fifty.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Two tack six.'.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
THREE guy, I mean i know you've been around this for.
So long size, does help? Doesn't it in that. Safety
position if you've got length, and height doesn't that?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Help you it helps you? In football football is a
game for. Bigger people, you know. Big guys big guys
break little guys and, SO yeah i mean when you
see it safety that size that, you know your your eyes,
light up your ears, per cup you, get, okay well
how are we going to handle? This guy, SO yeah, i,

(04:31):
mean SHOOT like, i said it's they've got players all
over the field, on defense they've got players all over
the field, on offense they're solid on. Special teams they're very,
well coached and that's one of the reasons, why they're,
you know the best team that we're going to play. This,
YEAR yeah i agree.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
With that, final note. Coach starts you guys got up
to a real good START against UAB and UiB had
had trouble in the. First quarter getting off to a
good start against This team duke, at home how important
do you think?

Speaker 2 (04:58):
That is it's really it's.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
All.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Important means there's statistical data, that says, you know the
team that, scores first whether it be a touchdown or a,
field goal has a higher percentage chance of winning the,
football game. You know so it's always important for us
to get off to a, good START and i think
it always helps, your confidence. You know and so it's,
you know you've been to. Our practice we have fast

(05:21):
start periods all, the time and we just come out
of stretch and put the ball down and. Start playing
and the, Emphasis, is hey we've got to be able
to come out of the tunnel and get started and.
Get going and there will be no difference in how
we approach it this week than we ever do and
it's but it might be a little bit more critical
to the success that we're trying to have to, start fast, All.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Right coach best, Of luck we appreciate. The time go
Get them duke And the huskies go. At it three
point Thirty on saturday afternoon At. The rent we're back.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
