Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're back with Jim More on the Yukon Football Coaches
showed Donovan Branch coming up, Lou Hanson the tight end.
We'll talk to them as well about what's ahead for you,
Conn and that's where you got to look now, Jim.
You mentioned in your press conference Tuesday you've got to
play with intensity and intention and you got to leave
the victories behind after a little bit. And you've talked

(00:20):
about it all season, the twenty four hour rule. How
are you going to implement that this week? With air
Force coming up?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Same way we always do. You know, when it's when
we've finished evaluating the previous game, we apply those lessons
and we move on to the next task at hand,
and that's having a great practice on Tuesday and then
on Wednesday and on for Thursday, and then on Friday.
It's about, you know, preparing for your opponent all weeks
so you understand their tendencies and what they like to

(00:47):
do and what they're good at. And then you know,
it's going out on Saturday and just kind of loose
and we're playing a team this week that you know
is averaging thirty three points a game, four hundred and
thirty eight yards of game. So their explosive as hell
on offense. Even though you wouldn't necessarily think so about
the style of offense they play, they're incredibly explosive. And

(01:07):
you know, if you look at their statistics for the year,
I don't know if you can appreciate exactly who they've
been the last three games where they're only giving up
twenty points a game. You know, so this is a
freaking really good football team. You know, the coach Calhoun
does an amazing job with him, and you know, you're
playing some of the best and the brightest and the toughest,

(01:27):
hard working, dedicated, committed young men in the United States
of America as they represent US as part of our
Air Force Academy.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I love the fact that you've kind has been playing
Service academies here the last few years. Oh, they're so disciplined.
They're a team that features the run. But we saw
that with Rice a few weeks ago. They were a
run team first, but they ended up throwing a ball. So,
I mean, you've got to be prepared for anything with
Air Force, just.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Like every week. But Air Force is different than Rice.
You know, there's similarities, but they're different, and you know,
Air Force has been together a long time with coach Calhoun,
and that staff has continuity. They adjust extremely well to
what you're trying to do on defense. They have a
complete and total knowledge of who they are, what they

(02:15):
want to be, and how to adjust in a game
to take advantage of what you're trying to do to
stop them. So it is a real tough task defensively
for us. And as I said, you know, they've been
very stingy on defense the past three weeks. So we're
going to get their best and we've got to deliver
our best and then, you know, let's just go out

(02:36):
there and cut it loose and play as well as
we can and hope that we can we can find
a way to.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Win jama with us just a couple more minutes. How
much the teams that you're going to play learn from
the previous game? Do you think I'm just wondering, do
put pressure on Joe Finnano early? You know, and got
a couple of sacks, We'll air Force say, wow, look
at this, I think we can get after their quarterback.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Probably. Yeah. You know, when you see weakness on film,
you as a coach and you're evaluating your opponent the
very first thing you do is say how can I
how can I attack that weakness? You know, and if
teams are getting pressure on us, or teams are running
the ball on us, or they're having success in special teams,
and it's up to us, up to us to fix

(03:21):
the issue before the opponent can exploit it. And that's why,
you know, our film evaluation, our self scout, our ownership
of things that didn't go well are so important as
you move through a season, and we spend a lot
of time making sure that we've swept the corners.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Mike, Yeah, I love it, and quickly as we wrap
it up Air Force ukon midday, game noon, gonna be
cold out there, coach, how do you think that's going
to affect what happens? Because now you're getting into that
time of year where it's it's kind of like playoff
time in the Northeast.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
It doesn't matter, we're both playing in it. We'll practice
outside tomorrow. It'll be in the thirties. That'll be fine.
It'll be forty three, forty six a kickoff. That's not
that cold. You know, we're a Northeast team. You know,
you haven't been out to practice in a while, but
we've been practicing outside and we practiced. You know, we're
on the field by seven forty five in the morning,

(04:17):
so it's not like it's real warm, and it's just
a it's something that we can't control, so we don't
worry about it. We prepare for it, we don't worry about.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
It, all right, Coach, we appreciate it. Jim Moore, the
Huskies Air Force be there. We need you at the
rent on the weekend thanks to Jim coming up. Donovan
Branch Lou Hanson's would continue on the Yukon Football Coaches

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
