Speaker 1 (00:00):
So a bit of a sloppy start, but after that
seemed to be okay tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yeah, I thought the second half was much more what
we were looking for from on the defensive end, I
thought we caused a lot of turnovers. We didn't allow
them to initiate their offense. I mean the third quarter,
they didn't score for a long time. I think they
had the opening bucket in the quarter and then not again.
So we did a much better job defensively, and I

(00:24):
think our offense was better. We simplified it a little bit,
but we really have to clean up a lot of things,
you know, like you can't miss that many layups by
our post players. That's one. Although we rebounded, we did wow,
I don't want to say that, but we rebounded our
own missus a bunch, so that at least was one positive,
I guess. But missing layups just is, you know, not,

(00:47):
it's just not what we want to do. You know,
you work so hard to get an easy shot. You
want to make sure that you finish. So that's something
we'll be working on. I thought our ball screen on
the offensive end was pretty good. I thought Sarah Strong
made a lot of great passes, but just really balanced.
When you look at the scoring and the shots in
the minutes, everything was just balanced. So that was we

(01:09):
were happy with that.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
And that's the next question was going to be across
the board. Everyone played. Everybody contributed. You maybe twenty minutes
that you know the most. Somebody played, maybe KK played more.
But the intent was you really had an offensive spread
from everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, we did the direction.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Not just three pointers, yep, we did. We had you know,
three players with double digit eleven, eleven and ten and
then it was eight nine, nine, six, five, four. You know,
so everybody. I thought when they had open looks, they
were able to knock them in. I thought Ali made
a couple of shots that were help that helped us.

(01:48):
You know, obviously they were overmatched, but you have to
give a loy all the credit. They were physical, they
didn't quit, they play hard. I think they'll do well
in their league. It's you know, it's just unfortunately. I
know they were missing two players probably would have helped
them out a little bit. But you know, I thought, overall,
it's just a good game, a nice way to get

(02:10):
ready for the weekend.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Chris, what have you seen in Ali's game that's different?
I mean obviously she's playing with a lot more confidence.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Well, that's probably the biggest thing I know. Coach has
always said that the number one. I think it was
actually Pam Webber who said this years ago when asked
what you need to play at Yukon, and she said,
tremendous confidence and belief in your own ability, and because
when you have that, when things don't go your way,
you're not shaken. And so I think Ali worked really

(02:37):
hard to come back in better shape physically, and I
think mentally she's in a different place. So I think
that helps her.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
What does it look like in preparation? Now you have
this game in, you know, and then you're heading to
the People's Bank Red and to Harford. So what is
the schedule like or how is the mental preparation for
your team getting ready for the weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Well, tomorrow's an off day, so they'll you know, get
you know, take care of school and get their bodies
right and hopefully their mind's right, and then we'll practice
Friday Saturday and play Sunday. Ohio State's interesting, you know,
we have a bad taste in our mouth from the
last time we played them was in the in the
Elite No. Sweet sixteen. No, was it sweet sixteen? Yeah,

(03:22):
it was saxteen. And we probably still have nightmares about
their their pressure and turning the ball over as many
times as we did. But they're a different team. They
lost some players to the portal, they brought in some players,
but they have a tremendous guard, a kid that I've
always loved, Jelanie Cambridge. She is really really talented. She
had a brother that played in a couple at a

(03:43):
couple of universities, but really good. She's had a sister
that played at Vanderbilt. Just a basketball family, A really
good kid, a really, really dynamic guard. I think people
are going to enjoy watching her play, and we'll have
our hands full guarding.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
They put her in a lot of ball screens, and
I'm sure that they're going to press. We just haven't
seen as much of them because I think they just
played their first game much later than we did, and
then again, I think tomorrow. So it's hard. This is
the tough part of the season of the schedule because
you don't have a lot of information, and unlike years past,

(04:17):
you could look at last year and say, oh, let's
see what they like to do. But with the returners
and the changes, you just can't really do that. So
we'll have you know, day or two days at least
to prepare for them and see what we have going
into Sunday.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Sunday very good, Christine, is always a pleasure. Thank you
for your time, Thank you, thank you,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
