Speaker 1 (00:00):
Back with Jayde and Ross on the Yukon Men's Basketball
Coaches Show. Mike Crispino. Here, interesting development for you, Jaden.
You got your brother on the roster, Jacob Ross. He's
a freshman forward, six', five one ninety. Five how's he fitting?
In that's got to be. Different, obviously not many guys
that can, say, oh my brother's on the team. Too

(00:21):
when you get to.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
College, yeah. Definitely it's it's an amazing.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Experience you, know you kind of grow up playing against
each other and now to, say all throughout middle, school high, school,
college you, know we're still on the same. Team it's.
Amazing BUT i think he's doing a great. JOB i
think he's taking the right. Approach every single.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Day he's just attacking practice as hard as he.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Can and you, know you can see his growth every single,
day his development in all, areas playing, hard, offensively, defensively
and just seeing how the college game works more and
more every single.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Day do you recall your freshman a few first few
weeks and do you kind of tell him stories, about,
well here's WHERE i was. At you know WHAT i,
mean when you guys get sit down and talk about,
it because it is a big transition coming out of
high school to play At.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yukon one hundred, percent you, Know AND i make sure
every DAY i tell him, that just like you, know
everybody's gonna struggle coming in at. First he's honestly probably
done a better job THAN i did coming in handling certain.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Situations but you, know he's he's, real he's real, tough.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
AND i think he's just handling everything with a great
mindset and and the fact that he's he's really getting
better every single.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Day, YEAH i think any, SPORT i don't know if
you agree with, this mental toughness is almost as important
as physical, toughness isn't, It because you you face somebody,
setbacks you have games where you know it doesn't work
for you or. Whatever it doesn't matter what sport you.
Play you could play, basketball, football it really doesn't. Matter
so how important is mental toughness to? Succeeding do you

(01:52):
think on the college?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Level one hundred, percent it's really.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Important you, know playing the game of basketball or any
game in, general the game's not always going to go your.
Way so how you're able to handle that that that
type of, adversity whether that's individual or as a, Team
how you're able to respond is one of the most important.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Things so mental toughness goes just as far as probably physical.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Toughness, yeah this junior class solo. Ball obviously yourself And Jalen.
Stewart you've been together three. Years this is the third.
Year tell me about, that because not often in college
do guys stick together for three. Years you don't see
it that, Much so this is this is very unusual
and it's got to be special for you guys to

(02:32):
be now in your third year together all.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Contributing, yeah one hundred, percent very special, because like you,
said you don't you don't see it too.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Often but the bond we have, obviously as you guys can,
see is very.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Strong AND i think we're all able to push each
other and feed off each other every single, day AND
i think that's why we're we've been able to get
where we're at right now or third years our junior
season With, yukon and you, know we're looking to grow even.
More SO i think that's the most important. Thing you,
know we were never satisfied to where we're, at going
to continue to puss each other and you, know hopefully

(03:03):
we'll show this.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Year, yeah this stretch of games you got coming, up
starting WITH byu On saturday In boston is important to the. Team,
obviously you're off to a good, start you're, ranked you,
know top five in the. Country but do you feel
like this is like a proving point in a way
for your team here in this next six weeks or
so one hundred?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Percent and you, know being a part of the team last,
year being able to capitalize in these early games against
top competition and being able to maintain you, know those
higher seeds is very important for.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Us SO i think we feel real good right.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
NOW i think we feel, confident we feel really really,
prepared and these games are definitely, essential so we're going
to be attacking these for.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Sure got to ask you about the game Against UMass,
lowell BECAUSE i can't remember seeing a game like that
where team gets off to like a forty seven to
four lead or some crazy. Number the numbers were. Astounding
as you were playing in that, game did you cup
at the scoreboard at some point and, go, WOW i
can't believe this is.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Happening, YEAH i honestly don't THINK i checked.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
The scoreboard until later in the second, half AND i
believe the score was probably like forty four to three.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Or something like, that something along the lines of.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
That and that was the first TIME i really looked
up and took, in you, know what we were able
to produce that. Night SO i think it was really
impressive AND i think it, shows you, know all the
work we've put in and how good we can be
if we can maintain that. Level AND i think a
lot of it came, from you, know the fire and
frustrations we had in the first, Game so just being
able to build out that so we can build out

(04:36):
that and grows was really important for.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Us and it Was it was a fun game for.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Sure, yeah the intensity was was. AMAZING i mean, defensively,
obviously the ball's got to bounce your way when you
score that many points and you hold the other team
to twenty percent. Shooting but in between those first two,
games you you Had New haven which played well At,
yukon and then you HAD u Mass lowell At People Bank.
Arena what do you think happened with the team and

(05:03):
would coach early to get you guys on track to
be the kind of team you need to be here
in the next few.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Months it definitely starts in, practice you, know we attack
every single. Day today we had a very intense day
of practice as, well just being very competitive and you,
know the coaches is holding us.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
To a very high standard AND i definitely think that's.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Where it all starts and where we're able to attack
because the intensity we have in practice makes the, games you,
know a little easier for, us AND i think that's
an advantage in a.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Way, Yep Jayden ross with. Us we'll be back after
a quick time out on The Yukon Men's Basketball Coaches
show on Lear field

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
