The 3rd year head coach excited to have Eric Dixon back for the Cats

Guys and with cound up to in the third year
head coach of Villanova, Men, what's this team look like
this year? Getting ready for a new season and new
people and new responsibilities for some of the returneys.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah, I mean, first and foremost, I'd say, we're really
excited to have Eric Dixon back. He's someone who's had
a lot of success in the Big East over the
last couple of seasons. And then Jordan Lungino is another
guy that has competed in the Big East. Uh, And
then you've added a couple of transfers that we really like.
And I love our young guys. So I really love

how connected this year's team is, you know, I think
from from jump, they've really seem to like each other
and been playing for Villanova.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
What's the comfort level been like for you? Know, this
is your third year. You're obviously replacing Jay a legend,
but you're now starting to build your own legacy at Villanova.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah. You know, for me, I just try to focus
on each day and trying to be the best I
can be as a coach, and trying to push our
players in staff to be the best they can be
each day and try to improve each day, and our
goals holds to be the best team can be by
the end of the season. And you know, obviously we
have goals. We want to compete to win the biggest championship.
We want to compete to win national championship. So I

think the way to do that is just competing to
be the best you can be.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Every day, Kyle. For the first time in a long time,
the Huskies are going to be on campus now, I
mean doing the women's games. I know how fun that
little band box can be. But that's kind of different though.
I mean, you used to play them in the big House.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah. No matter where we play, Yeah, any big East team,
you know, it's going to be a problem. So you know,
and it's no different on campus from being down downtown
at the Wells Fargo. So we know what, you know,
Coach Hurley and their staff and their players bring to
the table in terms of being a high level program.
So we're excited to go compete against them.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Finally, what's it like. I mean, you're a New Yorker,
what's it like playing in this building?

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I think it's amazing playing at the Garden. I've been
coming here. I want to say as a coach anyway,
since two thousand and eight. I get chills every time
I walk into the building. I never fails. I thinks
such hollow ground someone. I think it's somewhere that you
know every basketball person loves coming to and competence and it's.
