Speaker 1 (00:00):
How is Paris.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Oh my gosh, okay, so right now I'm actually in Marseille.
I'm having a COMPARI sprits overlooking the port. There's some
Parisian music playing. I don't know if you can hear
it in the background. But because yet, I didn't realize
that games are being held outside of Paris. So when
I bought tickets to like the soccer matches, I didn't
realize it'd be a two hour and a four hour trip.
But it is great. Yeah, I was. I was so ready.

(00:27):
I was in the lottery. I was saying, oh, soccer
tickets here, I've got to get them. Oh best category.
Oh wait, le own it to Mars. Oh Mar say
four hours. All right, we're explooring France.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
So wait a minute, I guess I'm confused. Are you
over there? Are you over there for fun? Or are
you over there for work?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
No? No, for for fun. I just I just couldn't handle.
I wanted to share, you know, because I grew up swimming,
I like really have always wanted to go to the Olympics.
And years ago and I found I was gonna be
in Paris, and I found out how to sign up
for the lottery. I'm like, no, I this is the one.
I mean La. Maybe we'll go to La. But I
wanted to go to frances to the Olympics. So I'm

(01:07):
so excited to be here.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Good for you, No, Juliana, I'll tell you, I have
never been to any of the Olympic Games, and I
like you, I didn't grow up a swimmer, but I
am dying to go to see the Olympics. And I
would go see any Olympic event, Like I love the
I love the Winter Olympics more than the Summer Olympics.
But dude, I bet it's it's got to be amazing there.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I mean the camaraderie, like okay, like let's take something.
You know, it's a sport that's growing. But in there,
it was like people were trying to be quiet, like
say before a golf match, you know, before they're about
to kiyok. So here it's like they're like quiet for
the start, quite for the start, and then it's just
like dead silence, and then the marker goes off and
it's just like wow, and people are cheering. And then

(01:50):
when you walk around in the city of Paris, it's
been even in Marcella leon. It's run very smoothly, like
there's people in there's a ton of volunteers. These people
who we thought were in green shirts were just like
workers or volunteers, and a lot of them speak English,
so you say, hey, I don't know the language. But
it's actually been really easy to get around because you
go up and you're like here or there's been signage,
and it's just been so fun because everyone's excited to

(02:12):
see the games, you know, regardless of the sport. It's
been fun to just see in this atmosphere.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Hey, so what have you What have you seen?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Okay, So when we got here, it was I was
able to see tennis, uh, and then I saw water
polo the first day is news ndatorium that they had
built in Paris kind of on the outskirts to encourage
more folks in Paris to go out there. And then
I also went to this Olympic installation that holds like

(02:41):
BMX and and skateboarding. So that was neat to see
some of the street sports, right, But I would say,
for sure my favorite has been swimming. But we also
saw the soccer and tennis. Like tennis in this it
wasn't in the big stadium, but it was in the
smaller Greenhouse Stadium and I saw men's doubles US play
against Czech and men's US they won that game. But

(03:05):
it's it's been really really neat to be in this
a movie.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Dude, that's awesome. Good for you, that's great. By the way,
you're doing a far better job than Jumie. This is fantastic.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
No no, no, no, no, no, I'm gonna say Jimmy's done
an excellent job. She Hey, I'm going to give her
credit for when Noah Lyles, you know, when he won
the one hundred meters dash. Later he's talking to the
the all the international press and he's like, wait, where
is the NBC Washington or is NBC Washington? And he
came and he talked to us, So that was cool.
But yeah, you know, Lot has done a good job.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
She has done a very good job. Yeah. No, no,
it's been great.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
So how long are you?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
How long are you there for?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
So I'm I'm yesterday kind of wrapped up my last
Olympics event. I saw Morocco in Spain and there were
so many Morocco fans in the stadium in Marseille. But
then a Spain kind of beat him out two to one,
but it was It's been good. So I kind of
got here Wednesday, started seeing different events and then I'm

(04:02):
kind of wrapping up my Olympic coverage today.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Good for you.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Sailing is here in Marseilles, so maybe I'll catch some sailing.
But I don't really understand the sport much.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
But that's okay.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Another event to see.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, I mean, listen, just have a couple of cocktails
and enjoy some sailing. Who cares?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, exactly. It is a little hot here, but I
mean I'm sure it's hot. And do you feel over
there too?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
That's freezing. It's freezing, and we got we got such
a cold spell since you've been gone. Well, Juliana, good
for you. That's awesome. Are you doing Are you getting
gifts for all of us?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh? Oh dang, I need to go back to the store.
I got, I got some souvenirs, and I think I
got to go back to get some pens and magnets
for you. I mean, if only Diane had kept up
her dual lingo streak. Come on, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
All right, well listen, have a have a blast while
you're there. Thanks for checking in. I'm so envious of you.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yes, thank you. Oh no, it's great. Next time, La,
Well going.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
All right, very good, very good. I had Diane work
in the English duelingo, so maybe we'll make it master English.
All right, Juliana, travel safe, talk to you later. God,
that's awesome. I thought she was going professionally.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
So for those not familiar with the geography of France, right,
do you know how far Marseilla is from Paris? Marseilla
is eight hours? Oh my god, like a train, I guess,
or five you can rent a car.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
So she bought tickets thinking that the event was in
Paris and was like, oh sweet, it's just eight hours away, suburb. Hey, Well,
she clearly did some events outside of Paris, not not
marseill outside of Paris, but in the outskirts of Paris. Right, so,
so just for an example, so she bought tickets for DC,
but she went to some events in Frederick, Maryland, and

(05:50):
then for for the soccer matches, she drove. She drove
to Cincinnati, yeah, and then back to get to the
hotel
