Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hour two Twin Cities News Talk.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hey, I'm eleven thirty one O three five FM on
the iHeartRadio app as we continue our broadcast from the
six five to one Carpet Next Day Install Studios. So
let's get caught up on what's been going on in
this verbal sparring between Trump and.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Marjorie Taylor Green. Much has been made.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
In conservative media circles of what has been going on,
and now there's a lot of this that's being perpetuated
by the bias leftist outfits. Marjorie Taylor Green suggested that
the Israeli government may be pushing to keep files on

(01:07):
Jeffrey Epstein covered up.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Green to implied that Jeffrey Epstein may be working for
Israel or may have been working for Israel, based off
his ties to the former Israeli Prime Minister and business
deals involving the Israeli government. When pressed by CNN's Dana Bash,
Green backtrack and suggested that she was implying the Israeli
government was pressuring Trump to keep Epstein files covered up.

(01:36):
So with that, I've got a couple of audio clips
I want to share with you, And first off, we'll
go to this clip of Marjorie Taylor Green on CNN
talking with Dana Bash and her prior support of President
Donald Trump. Here's what Marjorie Taylor Green had to say.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I stood with President Trump when virtually no one else did,
campaigned all over the country, spent millions of my own
helping him get elected. And I think that's incredibly important.
And I do support him and his administration, and I
support them in delivering the campaign promises we made to
the American people. His remarks, of course, have been hurtful. However,

(02:17):
I have something in my heart that I think is
incredibly important for our country, and that is to end
the toxic fighting in politics.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And this has been.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Going on for years, and it has divided our country,
split up friends and families, neighbors, and it's not solving
our problems. The most hurtful thing he said, which is
absolutely untrue, is he called me a trader, and that
is that is so extremely wrong. And those are the

(02:48):
types of words us that can radicalize people against me
and put my life in danger.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
What do you think happened? What do you think is
the reason for this?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files
and that is shocking. And you know, I stand with
these women. I stand with rape victims. I stand with
children who are in terrible sex abuse situations. And I
stand with survivors of trafficking and those that are trapped
in sex trafficking. And I will not apologize for that.

(03:28):
I believe the country deserves transparency and these files. And
I don't believe that rich, powerful people should be protected
if they have if they have done anything wrong. And
so I'm standing with the women and I will continue
to do my small part to get the files released.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Now, there's another aspect of this that nobody has been
talking about, but on CNN Scott Jennings brought it up.
I'll play you his response to this controversy. Here's a
quick clip of a Trump from over the weekend, though,
where he goes and makes the Marjorie Trader Green comment her.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
Life is in danger? Who's that, Harvey Taylor Green? He said,
Marjorie Trader Green. I don't think her life is in danger.
I don't think frankly, I don't think anybody cares about her. Okay,
what about here?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Well, thebias left as media does, and we'll get to
that in just a moment. My take on what Trump
was saying there wasn't that she was a trader to
the country. I took it more as what Marjorie Taylor
Green had said in the beginning of her statement with
Dana Bash, wherein she was talking about how she used
to support President Donald Trump and she doesn't currently. That's

(04:44):
what he was referring to in terms of the trader comment.
A trader to him. I didn't think that it was
of the of the country. I could be wrong with
That was my That was my takeaway. It's a lot
like when Donald Trump calls the Epstein situation a Democrat hoax.
He's not talking about it being the hoax that Jeffrey
Epstein was a pedophile and what took place. He's talking
about the way that the Democrats have perpetuated in an

(05:08):
idea that he was somehow involved in wrongdoing relating to
Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Now here's what Scott.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Jennings had to say on CNN and an aspect of
all of this controversy that I haven't heard talked about
very much.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Technically true based on what I've heard and what I
know that he didn't tell her not to run. But
what she didn't say was that he sent her a
poll privately, discreetly, and it had information in it, and
it showed her down twenty points to John Olsoff. And
so in politics, when you want to send a message

(05:43):
to someone that you like or that has been an ally,
you don't embarrass them publicly. You privately send them information
and show them what the reality is.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
And so I think it's.

Speaker 6 (05:51):
True that he didn't tell her not to run, but
it's also true that he did her a big favor,
which is to show her information that a candidacy statewide
and Georgia for her would have been a disaster.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
And this, of course was pointing to what kind of
sparked all of this heading into the weekend, and that
was Trump pulling his endorsement of Marjorie Taylor Green one
more clip that I wanted to share of MTG on CNN.
I'm taking full ownership unexpected moments, according to commentators asked

(06:23):
why she denounced Trump's rhetoric after it was directed at her,
Here's what she had to.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Say, Congresswoman, you posted on x that President Trump is
with his comments fueling a quote hotbed of threats against you. Obviously,
any threats to your safety are completely unacceptable. But we
have seen these kinds of attacks or criticism from the
President at other people. It's not new, and with respect,

(06:49):
I haven't heard you speak out about it until it
was directed at you, Dana.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I think that's fair criticism, and I would like to say, humble,
I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It's
very bad for our country and it's been something I've
thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated,
is that I'm only responsible for myself and my own

(07:19):
words and actions, and I am going, I am committed,
and I've been working on this a lot lately to
put down the knives and politics. I really just want
to see people be kind to one another, and we
need to figure out a new path forward that is
focused on the American people, because as Americans, no matter

(07:40):
what side of the eye we're on, we have far
more in common than we have differences, and we need
to be able to respect each other with our disagreements.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Matt Walsh had responded to those comments by Marjorie Taylor
Green and posted on ex Matt Walsh from Daily Wire.
For those that aren't famili he says left has celebrated
Charlie Kirk's murder and then elected an AG who openly
fantasizes about killing us and our children. And now Republicans
are going on CNN to apologize for their toxic rhetoric.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
What the hell is going on?

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I don't have any issue at all with what Marjorie
Taylor Green said. It's okay to take the high road.
Oftentimes it's the right thing to do. It wasn't, especially
in light of the circumstances. This is a verbal sparring
that doesn't really have much impact on the grand scheme

(08:35):
of politics currently. She took ownership for her self, and
I don't think it's inappropriate at all to stop and go, hey,
if you were engaging in that similar type of rhetoric
that you need to do to do better, saying as
much keeps you from, you know, from sounding like a hypocrite. Now,

(09:03):
along with all of this, Trump did call Marjorie Taylor
Green's bluff after she made her comments regarding the release
of the Epstein files and said that House Republicans should
vote to release the files involving Jeffrey Epstein's case. A
startling reversal, according to the article that I have from
Newsmax after previously fighting the proposal. We have nothing to

(09:24):
hide and it's time to move on from this Democrat
hoax as I was talking about earlier the week. He
frames it perpetuated by the radical left lunatics in order
to deflect from the great success of the Republican Party.
Trump wrote this on social media shortly after landing at
Joint Bas Andrews following a weekend in Florida. The president's

(09:44):
shift is an implicit knowledge acknowledgment that supporters of the
measure have enough votes to pass the House, although it's
unclear of its future in the Senate. Speaker Mike Johnson
seems to expect the House will decisively back the Epstein bill.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Get this done, and we'll move on it.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
There's nothing to hide, he added, By the way, side
note on this whole thing, it's not going to change
the minder matter for a lot of people. Regardless of
what gets released. People will just say, hey, that's not
all the information, or they're hiding they're really relevant stuff.
This is just kind of where we are now regarding
the mythology and the headcanon, and so many people have

(10:22):
relating to the release of the Epstein files and what
they believe actually took place.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Coming up, I have one more story relating.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
To this, and this is how the left continues to
perpetuate and try to make hay out of these divisions
within the conservative media circles. And specifically it's a piece
from Axios Behind the Curtain Maga's metastasizing mess. The article
actually did my job for me. It provided all of

(10:54):
the relevant commentary on why this is largely an irrelevant
to issue. I'll get the details coming up. We'll get
back to more of your comments from the iHeartRadio app
next on Twin City's News Talk Am eleven thirty and
one O three five fmy.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
What's called a Trump derangement problem? Have you heard about
that problem?

Speaker 7 (11:12):
Tweight five?

Speaker 8 (11:16):
Here's where your hypocrisy is showing. Margerie Trader Green. He
used that word and it's a slur against her. And
we're a Democrat to do something like that toward a Republican.
If Tim Waltz, who I don't like, I'm not a Democrat,
were to say something like that about Trump, you'd be

(11:39):
right on him. You'd be right on him about inciting
some kind of hate and violent speech toward him.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Well, I'm glad that you think you know me so well.
A special guy. Here's what Trump had to say.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
By the way, her life is in danger. Who's that.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Said, Marjorie Trader Grin. I don't think her life is.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
A Twin City's News talk from the sixty five to
one Carpet Next Day Install Studios.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
My name is John Justice.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
First off, I didn't give an opinion about President Donald
Trump calling her Marjorie Trader Green. I offered an explanation
of what I assumed he meant by calling her that.
I also wouldn't call it a slur. I mean a label.
Maybe it's not a slur, And it depends on the

(12:28):
circumstances if a Democrat were to do something like that
towards a Republican, the context behind it, the rationale for
which they're going and using that particular term. I'm a
talk show host, I generalized, but I also try to
call the balls and strikes appropriately.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
I'll tell you what, special guy.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
If I actually go and do what it is that
you assumed that I would do, I feel free to
go and leave a talk back and tell me that
you were right, And I'll admit that I was that
I was wrong?

Speaker 9 (13:01):
How is Trump calling her bluff?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Keep saying that I don't know what you're talking about?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Because Marjorie Taylor Green was saying that President Donald Trump
was fearful of going and releasing any files relating to
Jeffrey Epstein and that Israel maybe keeping him from doing so,
and then over the weekend, Trump said he wants to
see everything released.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
That's what I meant by that? Am I not making
myself clear this morning? On a number levels?

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Is it Monday? I just want to make sure is
it me? I mean you're in there listening, Sam? Is
it is it?

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Is it me?

Speaker 10 (13:34):
That?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Is it me? This morning?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Did I start off with too much confusion? By clever
wordplay of calling inappropriate things corn rather than using the
other word?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Is that where I? Is that where I stumbled?

Speaker 11 (13:45):
I think it's actually, you know, you hit the ground
running because you've been up so early. The rest of
us are just trying to catch up to you.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Is that what it? I think? That's what it is.
I like that. This is why I like working with you.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
This is this is why I appreciate Sam. All Right,
see's appropriate to play this. I want to get into
this Axio saw article. Not gonna spend a lot of
time on it, but right now there is an attempt
by Democrats to exacerbate any any fractures that may exist
within mostly online commentary relating to prominent conservative commentators and MAGA.

(14:24):
I'm going to share with you the details of this.
First off, though, I want to set the stage. This
is from Fox News and this goes along with the
talkback we had there a moment ago, psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert
talking about the percentage of his patients dealing with Trump
derangement syndrome.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
They have what's called a Trump derangement problem. Have you
heard about that problem?

Speaker 12 (14:47):
First of all, identify it for us. You're in a
session and you pick up on what.

Speaker 13 (14:53):
Well, Harris, it doesn't take long for me to pick
up on this. People are obsessed with TROMP. They're fixating,
they're hyper fixated on Trump, and they talk about some
of the.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Features of this disorder.

Speaker 13 (15:08):
They can't sleep, they feel traumatized by mister Trump.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
They feel restless.

Speaker 13 (15:13):
I had one patient who said she couldn't enjoy a
vacation because anytime she saw Trump and the news or
on her device.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
She felt triggered.

Speaker 13 (15:22):
So this is a profound pathology, and I would even
go so far as to call it the defining pathology
of our time.

Speaker 12 (15:30):
These people come to you for the things that you described,
can't sleep, traumatized, perhaps depression. I don't want to put
words in your mouth, but at first you are there
to treat an illness, a disorder of some kind, and
what you figure out is the trigger.

Speaker 13 (15:47):
Well, and Trump is the trigger for many of these people.
And to be that fixated on a figure, on a person,
it's simply not healthy. And our country has strayed so
far away from where we once were. If you look
at in the eighties, when President Reagan was shot, people
were united. He famously said, I hope you're all Republicans

(16:12):
to the surgeons, and that the response was today, mister President,
we're all Republicans, but our country has lost that with straights,
so far from that unity.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
No, he's one hundred percent correct, And I'll give credit
where credit is due for something that's horrible and has
been disastrous for the country, and that is the Democrats
waged and incredibly continue to do so, an incredibly successful
siop campaign turning President Donald Trump into this massive villain

(16:44):
and in the minds of many individuals on.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
The left, is akin.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
He is a kin to Hitler, arguably the worst person
to ever occupy airspace on the planet, next to Epstein.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
They did a really, really good job.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
I'm not surprised that people are dealing with that if
they become convinced of what the Democrats have been saying
since Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Again, as a reminder, everybody on the left.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
That helped to perpetuate all of this negativity about Trump
that has taken just numerous different forms, including the bias
in the media.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
They were all.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Fine with him, they were all buddy buddy with him
when he was just Donald Trump, wasn't involved in politics,
but then he became a threat, and they launched this
campaign and have been unrelenting in their quest to paint
him in a negative light, and it's had disastrous effects

(17:53):
on people. Commentary politics. The Axios article that I have,
it's still overwhelmingly pro Trump. And again, the article does
a really good job of doing my job for me,
providing the relevant commentary about why this is not that
big of an issue but less relevant in shaping the
president's agenda. They're talking about mega less capable of uniting

(18:16):
to shape perception and dominate the conversation on the right.
These days, according to Axios, Mega can spend more time
eating its own than feasting on liberals or establishment Republicans.
Democrats have been lambasting each other for weeks with regard
to the shutdown. But hey, everybody, look over here, conservatives

(18:37):
are futing Hey, good morning, say I find it comedic
how the left wing media all of a sudden care
about the safety of Marjorie Taylor Green.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
I don't recall them being in such an.

Speaker 9 (18:49):
Uproar when she was being swatted by liberal lunatics on
a regular basis.

Speaker 7 (18:55):
And I'm going to.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Venture a guest too, and we'll get into more of
this article here in just a moment. But a lot
of the threats and apparently Marjorie Taylor Green had a
bunch of pizzas that were being sent to her house.
We'll never know the truth regarding this, but the individuals
that have been leaving threats to swatting her or sending
pizzas there, I'm gonna imagine that a lot of those
people are individuals on the left, are Democrats that are

(19:17):
more than willing to go and perpetuate the idea that
there is this massive fracture within the conservative movement or
the MAGA movement.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
We'll get some more of your talkbacks coming up.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Those are brought to you by Lindahl Realty Next here
on Twin Cities News Talk AM eleven thirty and one
on three five FM from the sixty five to one
Carpets plus Home of the Next Day Installs studios on
Twin Cities. These talks AM eleven thirty FM one to
three point.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Five AD on the free iHeartRadio app. You know, a
moment ago when I was riffing on.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
The psyops the Democrats have deployed regarding President Donald Trump
ever since he beat Hillary Clinton, and I was talking
about making him the worst people on the planet, and
I listed a few people.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
I knew somebody was going to make a comment regarding that. Hey, John,
not defending the guy at all.

Speaker 14 (20:14):
But when you're tailing a worst person on the planet,
don't forget Mouse dun and Joseph Stone yet be responsible
for millions and millions. Of course held with them very directly,
one tricked always. They're communists, so they don't necessarily make
the news waves have a great day.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yes, I know, I was riffing first names that came
to mind.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
There's plenty of other people you can add to that
list of worst people on the planet.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Kathleen Kennedy just kidding.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
I have no people with Kathleen Kennedy. I just know
a lot of people do just want of the light
and things up a little tighty bit. Governor Tim Walls
a couple of points from this Axios article. I don't
want to spend a lot of time on this, but
behind the curtain, MAGA metastasizing mess.

Speaker 10 (21:18):
In it.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
They get into the Margerie Taylor Green riffed with Trump
that we were talking about the America first, America only,
America first versus MAGA. They go on to ride the
Tucker Carlson and others are increasingly critical of Trump for
supporting Israel so lavishly. They argue that this is a
mass distraction and a total violation of America First principles.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
A lot of this has that subjective.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Flavor about it, much in the same way that individuals
like to go and point to certain Republicans as being rhinos.
It's nothing new, and unfortunately there's a grift that's going
on with a lot of these commentators as well, it's
really difficult to gauge authenticity with some of the voices

(22:10):
that have been involved in this alleged feud between MAGA
and the America First Movement. You get towards the end
of the peace in Axios, and it says the MAGA
mess isn't a huge problem yet for Trump because he
commands extraordinary loyalty from its biggest personalities with the largest followings.

(22:31):
He sits out the messist fights and ignores the anti
Israel backlash. They go on to write in some ways,
they say it's a bigger problem for Vice President J. D.
Vance as he positions himself as heir apparent. Vance, unlike Trump,
is more online chronically and fluent in true Maga. According
to Axios, expect the mega conflict to widen this week.

(23:00):
They say Trump welcomes the Saudi Prince to the White
House tomorrow. The House plans to vote on releasing the
Epstein files, an issue that led to his breakup with
Green and a rare disappointment from notable portions of his base.
And I don't expect that breakup to last very long.
We'll see, We'll see what transpires. They bottom line. The

(23:21):
whole thing saying Remega remains powerful, but it's not the
United Force it was six months ago.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Nothing really changed.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
It's more upfront than it has been before, and mostly
because Democrats have been gas lighting this whole riff and
highlighting this riff. Make no mistake, the GOP needs to
dispense with the bickering. But it's also somewhat par for
the course at the moment relating to these particular issues.

Speaker 15 (23:54):
Good morning, John rich Here, So Marjorie Taylor Green, she's
trying to make herself relevant, kind of like Tim Waltz
tries to put these press releases alter to make themselves relevant.
They're not even in the game as far as I'm concerned,
and I really don't care what they think, but they're
just trying to get their name in a limelight. Maybe

(24:14):
think if they have a chance for a presidency, which
is ridiculous.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Good morning, John, Barry and andover just turn down the radio.
You're talking about Marjorie Taylor Green. And my thought is
twofold number one. People are looking past Donald Trump and
what their future is going to be, and they're positioning themselves.
I think she's positioning herself to become Liz Cheney she

(24:41):
wants to be the darling of the center, the darling
of the left, the Republican that the media loves, and
then they're going to turn on her.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, and that's where I wonder if the grift is
coming in when it comes to a lot of the
commentary from these individuals.

Speaker 16 (24:56):
Hey, good morning, John. Regarding all these people on their tds,
all I can tell them is you need Jesus.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
Have a great day.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Hell yeah, all right, let's go to an immigration update.
Massive raids hit Charlotte, North Carolina. I want to bring
you the details on this and uh in just a moment,
but let's start off here in a story that I
did not get a chance to cover on Friday.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Show, Portland had been a part.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
From Charlotte over the weekends, or of the epicenter of
immigrations and Customs and Enforcement tackling those individuals that are
here in the country illegally. Protests outside of the ice
facility in Portland's been going on for weeks, and a
story from the Daily Wire look at our never ending
Parade of stupid. Roughly two dozen self described freedom fighters

(25:52):
gathered outside that ice facility in the city's south waterfront
last week and what they called the Sweating Out the Fascists.
They're chosen form of resistance aerobics. Yes, the neon leotard

(26:13):
Jane Fonda nineteen eighty three, kind of.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Aerobics jazzer size for those that remember such things.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
The group was organized by a local gym called the
Fulcrum Fitness claimed that they were standing up for democracy
and due process. I did not add this in the article,
nor when I pulled it up, did I even realized
that this was in the article. I just want to say,
but the Daily Wire piece goes on to say, apparently
nothing says down with authoritarianism like synchronized lunges to Depeche Mode.

Speaker 14 (26:51):
It's right there.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
I love seeing my favorite band out in the wild.
It makes me, It makes me happy.

Speaker 12 (26:59):
Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Participants supported animal print tights, leg warmers, and righteous indignation,
all while doing their best to outwoo each other in
time to new wave beats from the nineteen eighties. One
instructor yelled it's time to sweat out the fascists into
a microphone, a sentence that surely made of future historians

(27:25):
put down their.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Pens in despair.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Why if I were an actual Antifa protester in Portland,
and I saw this, I'd be.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Like, really upset.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Why aren't you guys taking this serious? Questions whether or
not they actually care at all. The organizers framed it
as a doing that thing with my fingers, playful creative
approach to dissent, as some demonstrators have been using absurd
visuals to mock the Trump administration, and that assessment to

(28:04):
a Portland ICE facility was under siege from attack by
Antifa as exaggerated. Others might call it a performance art
for people who still own a VHS copy of Flash Dance.
You know, I've never seen Flash Dance. There's a shocking
amount of movies that I probably should have seen, considering

(28:27):
how many movies I see on average, flash Dance being
one of those. Sam, are you familiar with Have you
seen Flash Dance? I mean, I've not seen it, but
I know the bit, what a feeling. It's a great song.
Right halfway through the spectacle, ICE officers appeared on the
roof with pepperball guns at the ready as surreal juxtaposition
of federal muscle and fluorescent spandex. And you can hardly

(28:51):
blame them because you simply don't know what these individuals
are going to do. I mean, they all have to
be looked at as a as a threat. For as
ridiculous as it sounds, nearby campers did get a few
rounds of pepperballs for their trouble, while the aerobics crowd
kept vibing to use one participant's word, apparently believing fascism

(29:12):
could be burned off like extra calories. I'm not even
making this up, like I had to go and double
check to make sure that that I wasn't personally being trolled.
On a more serious note, climbing into the ceiling tiles,

(29:35):
DHS immigration raids hit Charlotte, North Carolina, where one and
six residents are foreign born. North Carolina and of itself
failed to honor fourteen hundred detainer requests. Let me get
you up to speed on this story from CBS tonight.

Speaker 10 (29:52):
Charlotte, North Carolina, is the latest city to see a
surge in immigration enforcement officers today started detaining people. The
city is made up of more than nine hundred thousand people,
including more than one hundred and fifty thousand who are
foreign born. According to officials, Local leaders object to the
federal force, saying it instills, fear and uncertainty.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
The Department of Homeland Security blamed the sanctuary politicians for
the state's failure to honor those fourteen hundred detainer requests
and choosing instead to release offenders back on to the streets.
And just imagine flip the political script put Republicans in
charge refusing to honor detainer requests from the federal government

(30:37):
if it were run by Democrats, and you and I
both know what the coverage would be on all of this.
Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino stated, on the first day alone,
federal agents arrested over eighty individuals. He noted that most
of those arrested have significant criminal and immigration histories. The

(31:00):
Border Patrol commander highlighted some of the more recent Charlotte
arrests on.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
X Let's paint a picture for you.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
An illegal alien from Mexico gets deported four times, strolls
back to Charlotte, then racks up a hit and run
and a DUIDWI Boffino wrote, It's time to go back
home and a separate post. Who's at the same grocery
store as you? This illegal alien from Honduras with a

(31:30):
criminal history. He has arrests for aggravated assault, assault with
a dangerous weapon, and d UI. He's also been removed
from the US twice and he's now here again. He's
committed a felony by re entering the United States. Reports
a surfaced on Sunday that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents
shot at an individual amid the ongoing operations. However, those

(31:52):
claims were debunked by ICE officers. This criminal alien from
Mexico had a panic attack, was taken to the hospital
where he attempted to escape by climbing into the ceiling
tiles from the hospital bathroom. He was unsuccessful and was
apprehended inside the ceiling by law enforcement. According to the

(32:13):
ICE official, he has a prior arrest for assault, and
one asked to question at one point does ICE end
up showing up here in Minnesota. They seem to be
very calculated to the states that they are targeting currently.
I'd be curious to see where Minnesota lands on the

(32:37):
list and whether or not they will be coming here.
Let's get back to a few of your comments from
the iHeartRadio app this morning.

Speaker 9 (32:44):
I think those people doing jazz or size trying to
rid their bodies and minds of fascism are actually trying
to rid themselves of Trump derangement syndrome.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
John, do yourself a favor and not watch Flash Dance. Please,
for the love of God, I can't see you go
through it.

Speaker 11 (33:06):
Don't do it. Man, have a good day.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
No, it's not on my list of movies to watch.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
It might be one that I would throw on, like
in the middle of when I'm prepping in the in
the background soundtrack was good, though.

Speaker 11 (33:18):
It's one of those movies that was probably on like
USA or TNT back in the day, just on cable,
and that's why it's still somewhat relevant.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
It's funny a movie like Flash Dance wouldn't get any
attention nowadays, like so much of what we consume because
entertainment is so segmented now and you have so many
different available options of content to be entertained by in
ways that you never could have imagined back going into

(33:49):
the eighties. You had a movie there was, you know,
decent enough, but it ended up becoming a big box
office hit because you just didn't have as many options
as you did before, a really banging soundtrack, and it
worked out where in hindsight, it's not nearly as.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
It's not nearly as good as what everybody it's.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
What everybody thought, apart from being just straight, you know,
nostalgia fuel.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Let's go here.

Speaker 16 (34:15):
Hey, John, you can see why you've missed so many movies.
It's because when you see a movie you like, you
go and watch it ten times. You probably don't have
the time to watch other movies.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
That is absolutely not true. I always have time to
watch other movies.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
We watched The New Frankenstein on Netflix on Garama del Toro.
I'm a fan of his over the weekend.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
How was that?

Speaker 12 (34:36):
It was?

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Okay, it's a little it was a little long by
about twenty minutes.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Okay, you know, but it was entertaining.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
It was one of those ones where you go there
was like a midpoint where I was thinking to myself,
I would have liked to have seen this on the
big screen, and then by the end I was like,
I'm glad that I'm still sitting here at home.

Speaker 11 (34:55):
I saw the I watched Eddie Murphy documentary. Oh really, yeah,
that was that was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
What would you what you what'd you watch it on?
Do you remember what platform? Well, it's it's a Netflix
it on Netflix on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Yeah, I'll check it out. We have not finished watching
Raw after our conversation on Friday. Or Shrek or yeah,
I've never been I've never been a Shrek fan. Uh,
just because we're here. There is a website letterboxed dot com.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
But it's b O x D okay.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Not ed, so letterboxed so you can go and put
all of the movies that you've watched on there. So
I started doing that. I started at the beginning of October.
So if anybody were curious at what it is that
I'm watching at all, if you go to letterbox dot
com and you search for John j O and Justice,
you can it's all public. It's like a you know,

(35:47):
it's like a it's like a social networking for for
movie lovers.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
So got it interesting?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Yeah, I usually track my holiday watching. Melinda didn't believe
the amount of movies that I watched over my Christmas
vacation last year and I've the tread to top of
this year.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
She's like, you did not watch that many movies. I'm like, no,
I absolutely did. All right, let's go here.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
I was incredibly surprised to see this story from Alphinews
and specifically what the Minneapolis Police Chief, Brian O'Haras said.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Last week. He was discussing the ongoing issues.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
With youth crime in the city of Minneapolis, highlighting the
recent shooting murder in Dinkytown that also injured two others,
and indicated that East African kids are coming into Minneapolis
from out.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
Of town to wreak havoc.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
He went on to comment, and again, this is the
Minneapolis Police chief. They aren't poor kids from Minneapolis that
are our residents. These are kids coming down in mommy's
Mercedes Benz to Dinkytown.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
And they don't know where they are, the police.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Chief explained in an interview with CBS. Again, I was
just incredibly surprised to see Ohara specifically call out a
demographic of individuals. In addition to the recent homicide in Dinkytown,
there's been a rash of other crimes and disturbances in

(37:25):
the area adjacent to the University of Minnesota campus that
have included assaults, robberies, multiple shootings, shots fired, auto thefts.
Chief O'Hara said in the interview, groups of kids, groups
of East African kids that are coming from surrounding communities
and not just one community kind of all over the place.

(37:45):
They're coming to the area armed and ready for a fight.
He says, you know, we've seen both kids that come
into Dinky into like Dinky Town and some places that
are bars. They're just not old enough to be hanging
out with the other kids. O'Hara said, some of the
activities they're seeing is gang related. I was also surprised

(38:07):
that he was admitting that. But other activities are being
perpetuated by loose groups unlike structured gang activity, as it might.
Instinctive reaction to this is, you know, is the problem
reaching an apex wherein Minneapol's police Chief Brian O'Hara feels

(38:29):
it's completely appropriate to relate the issues to certain demographics
that typically would not be politically correct and certainly not woke.
Like I am awaiting to see if these comments gain
any traction and what kind of pushback he ends up getting.
But at the same time, I think it's a really

(38:52):
good example that the situation in Minneapolis is reaching a
bit of an apex where the police chief feels like
he needs to call these things out with more specificity
than certainly I have ever heard him share in the past.
The City of Minneapolis from this Alpha News article has
funded an organization called Samali Youth Link for amounts over

(39:16):
three hundred thousand dollars to support programs where Somali mothers
and elders reportedly try to be visible in some of
the areas where the youth are causing problems. However, there's
been no apparent follow up or reports made available on
whether the efforts have been effective in stopping or curbing
any of the violence being perpetuated in the community.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
That doesn't surprise me in the least bit.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
It reminds me of the violence interrupter situation where none
of them have to basically show their effectiveness at all,
and yet that funding continues to flow. O'Hara has pointed
out prior media comments and briefings that it's often difficult
to hold juveniles accountable on hennepin count for a variety
of reasons, including the difficulty improving probable cause on specific perpetrators,

(40:05):
as well as prosecutorial and judicial and judicial leniency in
the system. Why do I get the feeling that police
youth is not going to stay here much longer. As
a matter of fact, I'm going to make a call
I don't think that Police Chief Brian O'Hara will be
the Minneapolis police chief next year. Following the carjacking of

(40:31):
the Minneapolis City council member Jamal Osmond by juveniles earlier
this week, even he called for meaningful consequences for the
unacceptable behavior and also called for parents to pay more
attention to what their children are doing. Coming up, we're
going to keep with the topic because while the police

(40:52):
chief cites East African kids from out of town and
ongoing Dinkytown youth crime problems, I'll give you an example
of what Hennepin County and the leadership in the city
of Minneapolis is actually going and doing. Here's a bit
of a preview. Very little of what they are doing
is going to help with the problem that the police

(41:14):
chief is laying out. And we'll get some more of
your comments from the iHeartRadio app. Coming up an hour
three for a Monday here on Twin Cities News Talk
AM eleven thirty and one on three five FM.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
