Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, at the very least, we can say that over
the course of the last hour we entertained Russo Radio.
And if you can entertain Russo Radio, we must be
doing okay, right, The banter must have been at least
somewhat entertaining to people. That's all you can hope for.
Because he's a very tough judge. Sure, but he's a
(00:38):
very keen observer of his consist communications form. Yeah, he's
a consumer, sure that. I'll take any praise from Russo Radio. Anyway,
you were saying.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
JJ McCarthy was limited in practice today, Yes, the same
JJ McCarthy say it missed last season.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
No, I'm not going to say it.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
I mean I might if he plays poorly against the
Bears again, we're probably at that territory.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
You're right, I.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Got a bad feeling about this game. Then again, again,
I had a good feeling about the game against the Ravens.
So that probably means that the Vikings will win by thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
I would say our cumulative standings in.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
The dog I was right. I'm going three again, aren't I.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I haven't looked yet, I'm pretty sure, but I would
say our gut has not been good to.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
Us, been embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Right now, we felt if.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
You want to include the Iowa Minnesota game, we'll put
that one in there. Yeah, you're right on the points
spread pain, Yeah, exactly. But he's got a hand injury,
and this is this is classic. This is you know how,
JJ's a Michigan man, as is Tom Brady.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
So does he have the injury?
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Does nine have the injury? Good question, that's a good question.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
JJ might have the injury, but nine is the one
that has to overcome it. Nine will just sneer at
the finger. Nine doesn't even know he's injury. That's probably
Nine has no idea. Is it his index finger? Do
we know which fingers hurt?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And it's not a foul through on a helmet, which
does happened in the National football It.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Does happen a lot. It just says he will have
a bandage on his right hand today. All doesn't I
don't have the finger here, by the way, will you
clear something up?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I should have asked Seffert, did did.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Weentz have his surgery or not?
Speaker 4 (02:18):
I don't know that because I thought I saw him
and he wasn't bandaged or anything.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Did I miss it? Did he decide to put it
off or did he have the surgery and I just didn't.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Even know it. I'm not sure.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Maybe he had to wait for the swelling from getting
beaten in Los Angeles.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
For the beating he had.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
He had to Jamie the surgeon said, can we wait
till your body's not purple?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
That's like your jersey that's made. That's that might be
the answer.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
But if you remember, there was a time I think
it was a playoff game where Tom Brady, another Michigan man,
had like a finger injury or a hand injury, and
he basically wore gloves for his press conference and didn't
say anything about his hand, right, I do remember that.
Now here's a tweet from seaf for in an hour ago,
accompanied by a picture. JJ McCarthy did most of his
presser with his hands in the hoodie pocket. Said he
(03:02):
hit his right hand on a helmet on the incomplete
throw to Justin Jefferson in the end.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Does it look is it like bent the wrong way?
Not sure? Can't tell his hands or is there a
cast on it? Not sure?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Hands are in the hoodie pocket. Yeah, it's it's a mistake.
It's gonna make it seem more ominous than it really is.
Of course, a bad pattern wearing it on JJ early.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Jonathan Gernard did not practice today with the shoulder. Aaron
Jones limited with the shoulder and a toe. Interesting combo there.
Ryan Kelly was limited in practice, but he's back at practice.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
They opened his practice window.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
For those not familiar with Ryan Kelly, he's the center
that the Vikings signed in the off season who's had
a couple of concussions here already I think five now
for his career. But he is back at least on
the practice field in his twenty one day practice window
has been opened. Mattelus limited, Oliver limited, Harrison Smith got
the veteran's day of rest, Andrew van Ginkel limited in
(03:54):
practice today as well. That is your very lengthy Vikings
injury report. Anything else to add there?
Speaker 5 (04:01):
So are you.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Starting to get a little bit excited about the possibility
of brosmer starting or do you think I've given.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Up because I think they don't want to play him.
He's going to be too good. He's gonna he's gonna die.
He's gonna come in there and play unbelievable. You actually
buy that theory? What other theory can I buy?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
This makes no sense.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Sources close to the situation say that Carson had his
surgery yesterday in Los Angeles.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
That explains it because.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Then, I yeah, because I didn't notice anything because I
thought I saw him on the sidelines, uh for our
last game. So uh yeah, I'm told he waited until
the birth of his fourth child. Congratulations, Oh he did, yeah, literally, Okay,
so he chill. He postponed the surgery until until then.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
All Right, we got to stay on. You don't have
anything else we have to We are out at six.
We have the Vikings report, and I have two segments
of Kessler to get to one of the Wolves play
next Friday, played Friday NBA Cup games, like you even mentioned.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
We got a point last night.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Did get a point against the young and rebuilding Sam Sharks.
They're gonna end up being great before we are, aren't
They probably because they have a young Core. It's like
New England is going to have another all pro quarterback
again before we have one. The fan and two men
at a jun truck want to give you a shot
to win bonus box with our national cash contest. You

Speaker 4 (05:23):
I wish the American media would take a great look
at the views of the people in conference and find
out are they pro America or anti America? Pat Kisler,
because people have got to know whether or not their
presidents are crump. But I can't trust Obama's Pussler tear
down the dish wall. I did nothing wrong at the
(05:44):
Minneapolis Airport.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Senator, you know Jack Kennedy.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
Kissler and now to help Dan break down all the
tough questions in politics. It's our own Kssler political walk.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
I feel like a Super Bowl, except like Times ten.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
It's Channel fours with Dan Morero on the fan.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Many of us are frustrated. Kessler.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Do you have you have a computer in front of you?
Do you have any paper?
Speaker 7 (06:17):
Uh? You know?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I have an envelope. I write all my notes on
the back of it.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Okay, then you have an envelope and you got a pen.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yes, I do. Did you hear us talking about the
math problem earlier today? You know? I did that. I
can't well, no, but I didn't hear it. You didn't
hear it. No, I didn't hear it, but I heard you.
Here's the I heard. I heard everybody doubting GUARDSI yes, yeah,
and he got it right, including guard pressure. Oh okay,
So here's.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
The it's it's a it's an arithmetic issue. Seven plus two,
okay equals blank plus six. Seven plus two equals blank
plus six.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
You know it's so cute is that you asked me
if I need did or to get out a piece
of paper? Because I thought, because you have to.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Tell me again, seven plus two yes equals blank plus six.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Can I use my calculus?
Speaker 8 (07:13):
No?
Speaker 4 (07:13):
You can't? Three?
Speaker 6 (07:15):
Am I right?
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Correct?
Speaker 4 (07:18):
You looked worried there for a second.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
I thought this was a trick.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Twenty five percent.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
I thought it was a trick.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Of students entering University of California, San Diego got that
question wrong.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
One quarter of them got that question. They wouldn't answer
that correct. Which higher education institution.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
University of California, San Diego.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Have they been accepted.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I don't know. That's a good ques. I think they
have because they like the money. I'm guessing they like
the money. Come on, serious, that's not a hard one,
is it. I mean, I'm intimidated by any map as
anybody listens to the show knows guardsy in me both.
But that one, even under pressure seven put Yeah, well
(08:03):
that's that.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
That stocks me, stracks me. Now, So these are incoming freshmen.
So let's say they're eighteen, So five years ago during
COVID they were thirteen.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
Yeah, that's it.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
But they should have been learning this, you'd like five
years before that. You'd like to think when you're eight,
when you're seven six. Oh, my goodness, that's not good.
That was a discussion we got into earlier today. We
got a lot of Oh, by the way, my sources
say that you were bad mouthing the host of this
program a week ago. In this time period, do you
(08:39):
ever listen? Because I bailed early to attend the event.
I thought you were going to the big Prince World
premiere Prince Musical downtown Minneapolis, where I was hanging with
my good friend Spike Lee. No, you could have yes sis,
(09:00):
Oh my god, why did I miss that? You want
to know the honest truth? You're afraid to go out freaky?
Is that?
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Well?
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Do you want to know the honest truth? Yes, I'm
committed to the bit you're going to say that. I
just I am, And I mean I agonized social six thirty.
I mean so technically I agonized over this for days.
You did in days because it was on a Wednesday night.
This is the only thing I do in my entire
week that I take pride in and I shouldn't. Uh,
(09:29):
And I thought, well, no, I'm I'm committed to the show.
And then I show up and you're not here because
you failed to go to this show early.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Yeah, I missed an hour early.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Sorry, I'm I'm just I was. I was so irked,
I was, I really am.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Beautiful people were there, including he had a better seat
than me.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Not gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
I thought you were with him not that tight.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
That tight we did bond, but not that tight.
Speaker 7 (09:56):
Now.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Yeah, I mean, and I've been very disappointed in And
then one of your kind listeners offered me tickets. Did
he really? Yeah? Absolutely, it was so nice. Well, I
think it's still playing the man from Manderville, a Manderville guy. Yeah,
and uh, and I I couldn't go because I have
(10:18):
I was attending the Gophers Alcorn State were on Saturday,
Gophers el Corn sport. We call that bad men's basketball.
You know, all of the basketball teams are scoring ninety
Why didn't you bother? Because I really enjoy it?
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Well, yeah, I enjoyed, enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
I know I would, but I knew I enjoyed the
show more.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
Are you a part of this new Netflix series.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
That's gonna be not made here but about a Minnesota
hockey team.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
This sounds pretty awesome.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Starring your gal Michelle Monaghan. Been in a bunch of
good movies, very familiar, including She Was Terrific and True Detective,
which I still missed the first year of True Detective remains.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Yes, that's where it is.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
That was Woody and uh, what's his name is? That's
never been topped, That show has never been as far
as I'm concerned.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
Yeah, she was.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
She had a huge role, well not a huge role,
but a decent role.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
There. I'm surprised you're not in on this.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Well maybe I am.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
You might be, and we don't know yet.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
I don't. I don't know yet. I mean, this is
the the Hockey, the Hockey, yes series, the unnamed yet
they're sel entitled it.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
But it's in a fictional, presumably northern Minnesota town called
South Dorothy.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
South Dorothy. Why would do well you know why Dorothy
as in like Judy Garland as in Grand gran Yes,
so that's why. But is it shot in northern Minnesota? No,
(12:03):
it is apparently being shot in uh Vancouver, is it that?
British Columbia. I mean, do we want do we want
business here? Film business? And we're not good at that,
are we? Apparently we've added we've added tax breaks apparently
not enough, not enough, not enough, according to can To
to Canada, Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia. I mean they have
(12:27):
incredible tax incentives for for American companies beautiful town Vancouver
to go beautiful. Is that your exit plan?
Speaker 5 (12:38):
No, No, it's not that much.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
No MAUI Uh now probably yeah, Gary, So here's the deal,
get good real estate and Gary. So for all of
the tariff threats that President Trump has been making, among
them is a threat to throw huge tariffs on foreign movies,
(13:01):
well that would effect yeah, companies like Netflix and that
and series said, are shot in Vancouver, So no that
I mean, that's pretty awesome, though they hope they capture
it correctly.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
I have a lot of things I need you to
be my fact checker. Good luck with that today.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
What's the first one I had for you?
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Is this true?
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Axios? A last minute provision? Okay, the the shutdown is
allegedly about to end, right, although technically still has to
pass the House, right, Yes, okay, A last minute provision
in the bill to reopen the government would recriminalize many
THHC products, reversing they're twoenty eighteen legalization, to which a
(13:48):
guy follow on X who I like, named Scott Greenfield.
I think he's an attorney, writes, don't you love it
when a bill is sold is doing one thing you
want but secretly does others you don't as well? And
there's the five hundred thousand gift to eight GOP senators
buried in there as well.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
Do you know anything about this?
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Yeah, let's talk about a couple of things with this
shutdown bill that was agreed to very controversially by some
moderate Democrats, passed the Senate, and during this show, it's
probably going to pass the House for very soon. They
kept talking about a clean bill. Just vote for a
clean bill to reopen the government. Then we'll debate everything.
Clean bill, nothing else in it. Just reopened the government. Well, no,
(14:29):
that is one of the the provisions that was stuck
in at the last moment, which says that any hemp
derived THC which is different from some of the other
the THC and marijuana derived products, that those are going
to be outlawed. This is heavy lobbying by the beer
(14:52):
industry and also by the marijuana They don't want the competition. Well,
you know they this was supposed to be for them, right,
and then there was a loophole in the twenty eighteen
Farm Bill in which they allowed hemp derived products. I
didn't know you could. I did not know you could
get high off him. I've tried it many times. I'm
(15:16):
not joking. I am not joking. You know, we find
ditch weed when I'm on the farm as a kid,
ditch weed, ditch weed. We called it. All right.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
We got a break because we're behind, because we got
to get out at six. I'm going to hold that thought,
as they say, as Phil Donnau used to say, hold
that thought, and when we come back Marlo Thomas will
join the program as well as Pat Kessler. Will continue
with both of them next time.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Now for the Vikings report on the van presented by
Miller Lyte.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Vikings wide receiver. Adam Feelin joins danbur Room.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Next, man, are you successfully Pat Kessler? You passed the
math test.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
I'm actually surprised. I was nervous. I thought it was
a trick. Here is my next one. This is this
falls out of the class classification of can you identify the
individual who spoke these words?
Speaker 5 (16:21):
Here's the quote.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
I resigned from the Heritage Anti Semitism Task Force because
Heritage leadership failed to stand against the voices of anti
Semitism on the political right. Inexplicably consistent voices of anti
Semitism on the political right were embraced and worse defended
(16:48):
by the leadership of Heritage Foundation.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Who spoke those words?
Speaker 4 (16:53):
You know, I wish I could tell you. I know
the story and I know the boss under fire, but
I don't know the name of that person.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Will be maybe you know this person. Well, okay, you've
covered this person. Oh here we go. I cannot believe it.
I'm going to be so embarrassed. Michelle Bachman. No, Michelle Bachman, that's.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
That is really that's that's that's interesting, is yeah, this
is a this is a controversy that is just dividing, uh,
the conservative Republicans because of anti Semitism charges, particularly because
Tucker Carlson on his podcast had on Nick Fuentes and
(17:39):
avowed Nazi socialist. And so when he was defended, when
Tucker was defended by the head of Heritage, I mean
that was just one step too far by by a
lot of people, and including Michelle.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
What times your apology to Michelle Bachman, and well, I
applaud to him for that.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I applauded herm for that. And I need to correct myself.
I think I said about Nazi, He's not an avowed Nazi.
He is a he is a white nationalist. He is
a white national important distinction, I think it is. And
so if Michelle Bachman said that, I did not know that,
And that's really something. For a long time she was
(18:22):
Michelle Bachman, the former sixth District Republican congresswoman from Minnesota
in the seat now held by Tom Emmer. For a
long time she was on the Religious Council, advising President
Trump on serious religious matters. So, I mean that's pretty impressive. Actually,
speaking of Tucker Carlson, Guardie, I just texted you some
(18:44):
sound that I would like our audience and for Kessler
to hear if you've not if he has not heard
it already.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Tucker Carlson, who is it?
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Fairness say?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Once upon a Time was sort of kind of a well,
if you go back to this CNN show, he was
on kind of a mainstream righty.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Well, he was in that debate show.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
That the debate show. What was the name of the show.
I love that show? Was that the show with Robert Novak?
Speaker 4 (19:10):
No, this was this. This was Tucker Carlson and the
debate show on CNN. Was it the California?
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I know, I know, I know.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
All right, let's John Stewart took it apart and yeah
the audio Okay, well, let's listen.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
This is I don't know how long ago, crossfire, Crosssfire,
great Fire. Yeah, this is Tucker Carlson. I'm not sure.
I don't think this is I think this is pretty recent.
And this was apparently during a talk that he was
giving a presentation or a speech. He's sitting down on
(19:47):
a stage, he's got a moderator with him, and I
don't know if the moderator is asking him questions or
whatever on a subject utterly unrelated to what we've been
talking about today, but I found it rather interesting.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
Let's listen.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
And then I go to bed with my wife and
four dogs who sleep in the bed. My wife's had
four children. My dogs are hunting dogs. All five of
them wake up like that, like they you know they are.
We have no home invaders in my house. I wake
up at two thirty in the morning. I checked my
and I couldn't breathe at all. My throat was closed.
It wasn't like I was appnear. I was strong, as
(20:19):
I couldn't bathe. So I get up. I stand in
the doorway of our bedroom and I'm like, wow, I'm dying.
I can feel myself turned to gray out. And then
I started walking in the backyard and then it slowly
came back, like my throat kind of opened up a
little bit. I was like, really weirded out. I walk
back in and my wife wakes up. She goes, what
is going on? I said, I don't know. I can't breathe.
(20:39):
I feel better now, and all of a sudden I
had this horrible pain underneath my arms, like on the
side of my chest, like bad. I thought I'd been
like ripped with a knife or something.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
I'm captivating very intense. So I go into the bathroom.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
I flip on the light and I have claw marks
on both sides, on right and left side on my
rib and they're bleeding and they're club They're literally.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
Claw marks, four on either side.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
I put my fingers and don't fit my fingers and
I sleep on my side, so how could And by.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
The way, no one woke up.
Speaker 8 (21:13):
So I show my wife and she's like, oh my gosh.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
And then I have this like crazy intense desire to
read the Bible.
Speaker 8 (21:20):
So I read the Bible and I pass out in
like two minutes and I wake up. And the next
morning I thought, man, did I have a wild dream?
And then I see blood in my sheets and I
go in the bathroom and I have these bloody marks.
And my wife goes, I think you were attacked by
some supernatural being, and I was like trying to be
logical about it, and I was like, yeah, I definitely was.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
And then I called one of my producers. She's like, oh, yeah,
well that's pretty common. I was like, what it And
I've had a couple other experiences.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Is this real?
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Is this AI generated? Or did he actually say.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
I have never heard this? It was I got a
captivating storyteller. He's tremendous. Really, but I want in this happening?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Is happening?
Speaker 4 (22:02):
That's the question. I mean, this is crazy packed by
a demon? Yes, well, who hasn't And he said that's
pretty common.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Pretty common. Apparently I didn't.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Is it common?
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I guess maybe I need to spend more time he
felt hitting the supernatural.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Well, he felt the need to read the Bible now.
He was still wounded afterwards. It's it's not like I'm
just telling you. What do you make of that? Well,
I don't even know. Well he happened to him. You
remember you're talking about I see the thread here from Crossfire.
He became the leading a show on Fox News, The
(22:39):
Opinion Show, and if you recall in twenty twenty, early
on in the presidential campaign, he was considered a contender,
a possible candidate. He was to be president of the
United States. Absolutely he was, and when Donald Trump began
to emerge, he was one of the people who was
(23:00):
mentioned as a possible vice president now he is after
the tobacco at Fox News where he was Sarah dumped
from from the air. He has become more powerful now
than he ever was on Fox. I think he has.
(23:22):
I think he has. But going to this podcast, some
of the things that have you ever been attacked by
a demon in your bed? I have not that you remember.
I try not to pay attention to it. I'm not
gonna lie. I have been concerned about that sometimes, about
the existence of Satan around me.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
And remember that movie back in the day, Linda Blair,
the Extorsist, the original, and I grew up in an
extremely religious family and so affect you still does to
this day, to this day, and I fear that supernatural power.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
Have you ever seen Extresses? Part three?
Speaker 7 (24:10):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (24:10):
How can it be better than two?
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I actually think it is better than No, it's not
as good as one, but it's the most underrated horror
film of all time.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
It stars George C.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Scott.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
George C.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Scott a legendary actor.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Somehow this movie, and he gives it gravitas. It's spooky,
it will scare you if you watch Part three. I
will never watch it. All right, I haven't watched a
horror movie. Guards well, I I since the Extracise and
I was like eleven, you were terrified and still am
(24:45):
to this day. Have never watched a horror movie since.
So the Green I did watch the Omen. I guess.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
All right, we're gonna run out of time, so let's
get you got a couple of good nuggets here that
we probably should at least touch on. One involving an
independent investigation regarding the police response during the shootings, the
Hortman murders, et cetera. So where is this coming from,
what do we make of it? And how long is
(25:14):
this process going to play out?
Speaker 4 (25:16):
You know, this is a topic that no one wants
to really address. We don't want to talk about it
because of everything that happened with the terrible shootings, the stockings,
and the assassination then of Melissa Hortman and husband Mark.
It was one of the most tragic days in Minnesota
history with these murders, and we've never really been able
(25:39):
to get the true story, all of the facts out
on what was the police response. Right now, I get it,
this is all happening in real time in the middle
of the night, you've got shootings, you've got people stalking
other politicians, and you're not making it up as you
go along, but you don't know where to go next. Well,
(25:59):
let me get the headline. The Brooklyn Park Police chief
is saying now that there's going to be an independent investigation.
It's been approved by Brooklyn Park and the City of
Champlain and also Hennepin County, and it's going to be
an action after action review. So we're going to find
out all of the stuff that a lot of people
(26:21):
have tried to know through data practices try to get
some of the some of the facts, some of the
documents in the case, even the police recordings of what
was happening, and we've not been able to get it.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Uncomfortable questions about some ariage of the police response.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Very very much so, including one that we just don't
seem to have an answer to where the New Hope
officer encountered the assassin.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
We talked about that AshEL there he was.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Wearing this Halloween mask, driving a fake police car before
the murders, apparently on his way to the hortman's and
the police officer said hey, hey, hey, what's going on?
Rolled down your window it was parked her. She pulls
up next to him and he wouldn't roll down his window,
ever responded, but he looks like he's a cop in
(27:09):
a cop car, and she just drives on. We've never
been able to figure out what that is. We don't
know what exactly was happening once they got to the
hortman's house. Why it took them an hour to get
into the house, why they put a drone in instead
(27:29):
of sending in a swat team. I mean, all of
these things are questions. And then here's one that's really
intriguing to me. Vance Belter, the accused assassin, sent a
note to the FBI director Cash matell He wrote a
letter to him before he was captured. It must be
after the shootings and murders, and then before he was
(27:52):
captured forty three hours later, and he says, cops were
pulling up right next to me in their vehicles and
I had an ak still named right at her head,
and I could have left a pile of cops dead,
and I didn't. We don't know so much about this,
And again, it's uncomfortable questions because we are so grateful
to the police for what they do. Every single day,
(28:16):
and what would you do if you're in this situation
in the middle of the night, not knowing And it
was only by happenstance that some sergeant going off duty says,
you know what, we should check the other people, and
that's how they apprehended this guy. So which is good
police work. It's incredible. Yeah, and we get good police
(28:36):
work day in and day out. And I think it's
important for everybody to know with transparency what happened here.
So now independent investigation, it's going to cost you half
a million dollar.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
So who's doing the investigation?
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Do we know? We do know, and I've lost it
in my notes here, but yes, it is out of state,
out of state in Virginia, which probably makes sense. Task
force that is going to look into it. It's going
to take six months. It might take a while to
get this. Coincidentally, today Vance Belter went back to federal
court and his defense attorneys have asked for more time
(29:12):
to go over the notes. There's hundreds of thousands of
pages of notes. So now it's going to be delayed.
We're not going to get into this trial at least
until on next year. So yeah, this is a troubling
thing that we still don't have all the answers.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
To, and I hope we do.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Let me get briefly to the shutdown ending. I want
to get your reaction to an observation from one of
my favorite analysts. He actually writes for The Atlantic, Michael Powell.
Here's what he writes. The Democrats bet they could weaken Trump,
forcing a nihilistic president to compromise and restore subsidies for
the Affordable Care Act. That was a bad bet at
(29:50):
great moral cost. It put government services and the needs
of the impoverished at great risk. Now he breaks this
down a lot less simply than it's much more nuanced
than that. But that's the open question, even among lefty
leaning individuals, is that there were no you could argue,
no good choices for the Dems, but ultimately, in the end,
(30:13):
did they have any choice? His point is, ultimately, the
only time you're gonna have a chance to exact revenge
on Trump is in the on election day, which, by
the way, they had a very good election day just
this last week. But he's talking about the midterm elections, etc.
So what's the post mortem on Because I know within
(30:33):
the Democratic Party obviously there's great difference of opinion about
the Dems who caved. If you want to use that
term to open the door to a settlement.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
Well, I think you could use that term because they
got nothing. The eight Democrats who joined the Republicans to
end the shutdown got nothing. What they had one thing
they wanted. The only thing they wanted was to guarantee that,
in fact, people in this country who are on Obama
(31:03):
Bambacare and get subsidies from the government are going to
continue those subsidies after December thirty first. That's the only
reason they were holding out. They didn't get it. Not
only didn't they get it, it's not included in the
in the shutdown ending bill, there's no guarantee that it's
going to pass the House. They're going to get a
(31:23):
vote in the Senate, but it may lose there and
Trump will be to it. So I'm telling you they
got nothing out of this. It's like in Godfather Too,
one of my favorite movies, Michael Corleone speaking to the
US Senator. You want my offer, here's my offer. Nothing. Nothing.
Speaker 6 (31:40):
That's what Trump did. But now a lot of.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
People are going to get paid who needed the money. Well,
here's the yes. So that's that is very very important.
Six hundred and fifty thousand federal workers were furloughed and
they're not getting paid. Are they going to get back?
Six hundred thousand workers were forced to work for no pay.
They going to get that back. That is part of
(32:02):
the bill. So in the bill, they're going to fund
the government to January thirtieth, and we're going to go
through this all again. They are reversing the layoffs that
Trump made, you know, punishing democratic supporting unions and whatever.
They're going to get paid for back pay because Trump
was threatening not to pay anybody. We're going to fund
(32:23):
the food stamps that's good through next year, and flight
delays whenever through that again. We're going to I think
that January thirtieth. I think they're only extending this through
the thirtieth. And there's a real question about why we
do this anyway? Why do we go through this every year?
And we're one of the only countries in the world
that does. And the big thing for people to remember
(32:46):
is that it's very likely that if they don't pass
a bill before December thirty first, and you're getting ready now,
a lot of our listeners are looking at their healthcare
premiums and they're going up already. They're going to go
up a lot more once these Obamacare covid Era premium
subsidies disappear. You're going to be paying a lot more
(33:09):
and the government's not doing anything about it right now.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
All right, we're gonna have to leave it there.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
I know there's a bunch more on the list, but
I think we covered a good cross section of of items,
and we'll hope that next week. I won't get ripped
again by you during on my show, during your segment, which.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
I'm a guest, just and I just ripped it. I
know it's it's it's kind of embarrassing to me.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
No, I think you enjoyed it, and that's okay. I
didn't stick up. I know that's not true.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
I ripped Kessler for being here. Oh, I said he
should have canceled the cancel.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
And we gave him options to go to the Alcorn
State game, which you can't miss.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
At eleven.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
The audience member offered him tickets for a two o'clock
show fraud.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
They scored ninety points. You could have left.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
After sixty left after sixty. Couldn't you You could have
seen all lighty and still made it.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
That far away.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
I'm really glad to be back. Yeah, it's good to
have you back.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
We're out now.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Why because we've got x's and o's vikings x's and
o's followed by go to go for men's basketball back
in action against Missouri, the Missouri Tigers. That's a road game,
right guards the dreaded TA. So that's coming up on
the flagship tomorrow, Big Show. Sean Salisbury. Mike Conley is
going to join the broadcast, maybe the inbox tomorrow. Thank
(34:33):
you to Glenn Mason, thank you to Pat Kessler, thank
you to all the listeners and all the Texters. And
we will talk to you tomorrow beginning at three o'clock
right here on the fountain.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
And that's a fact.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
We see you later.
