Speaker 1 (00:01):
Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly from iHeartRadio, your weekly
source for the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Now here's your host, Paul Chargian.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Welcome to Fantasy Football Weekly, everybody. I am Paul Charchian.
At the outset of the show, I want to mention
that this episode will be a turning point in the
history of Fantasy Football Weekly, a show that started thirty
one years ago nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Listeners.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
To just clarify the situation, when I sold Guillotine Leagues
to Fantasy Life, I went all in. I included the
Chop podcast and Fantasy Football Weekly. So when I decided
to resign from Fantasy Life, I was also resigning from
Fantasy Football Weekly. It was a difficult choice, made harder
by my love of the show, my co hosts, and
(00:54):
its listeners.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
But this is also not just about me.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
It will also be the final show for Matt Harrison,
Scott Fish, Thor n Eystrom and knt Wyrock. You'll get
to hear from each of them today. This is our
first ever six host Fantasy Football Weekly. I'm happy to
say Brian Johnson will remain on the show, bringing continuity
and weekly eye rolling a grades for Kyle Pitts. Fantasy
(01:21):
Life has some amazing content creators. I have not been
told what Fantasy Life plans to do with Fantasy Football Weekly,
but I'm sure the show will be even better without
somebody who thinks Tank Bigsby is a league winner.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
I encourage you to keep listening to the show.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I'll have a few more words at the end of
the show, but now I'd like to bring in all
of my co hosts, Brian Johnson, Scott Fish, Matt Harrison,
kunt Wyrock.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Welcome to the show, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Great to have you here, and is a special send
off gift to all of you. In our final show,
pluses and minuses are allowed.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
No what yep?
Speaker 5 (02:05):
I did not notice? Oh my gosh, all right, this
changes everything.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
Today.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
You guys can hear myleyboard keyboard a clacking you have.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
You've been asking for it for thirty one years.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
You're getting it in the final show.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Pluses and minuses allowed in this episode.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Out of respect for the show, I might not use any.
Speaker 7 (02:32):
Out of respect, I'm only using pluses and minuses using letters.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
And you didn't distinguish charge.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
If we can use like two pluses two minuses maybe
just a plus N minus just to equal it out.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
And D grade just egregious usage.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I say, go for whatever the hell you want at
this stage, do whatever makes you happy.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
We'll have a few more words at the end of
the show on this, but for the moment, let's roll
up our sleeves to the things that we do best.
In this show, we're going to break down all the
games we'll have. Take a chance on me, we will
break down all the games Fantasy Football Weekly style. I
want to begin here Kent Detroit Lions taking on the
Philadelphia Eagles. This is two offenses, honestly, that have underperformed
(03:20):
at times. Let's start on the Detroit Lions side of
the matchup here. Do you want to start with our
running backs Jamiir Gibbs and David Montgomery against a good
Eagles run defense.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Yeah, I will. I think the underperforming will unfortunately continue.
This Eagles defense is very healthy, meaning literally every player
was a full participant this week in practice on Friday,
So it's gonna be a tough lookout there. David Montgomery
I have a bench plus grade on He's gonna look
real good down there, but you can't start him. He's
(03:52):
really had rough yardage totals this season. Five out of
nine games have been forty or fewer rushing yards, and
his Eagles defense in last week's fourth lowest success rate
to opposing running backs, second fewest explosive rushing plays allowed
zero one hundred plus yard rushing games two opposing running
backs as well, and Montgomery's just been an afterthought in
the receiving game, something he's done a little bit better
in the years past. So he's on the bench.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
Jamiir gives bench plus.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
I gave him a bench plus just for the bit, Yes,
Jamiir Gibbs, I will give a B grade too. He's
to make something out of nothing player for this offense.
So even though it is a tough matchup, you just
got to keep him in your lineup and hope for
the best. He's had three plus targets and receptions in
each of the last three games. Only one running back
has had more than thirty three receiving yards against the Eagles, though,
(04:37):
and that was Bucky Irving. So if there's anyone who
can kind of replicate that kind of success, it could
be Jamior gives. So I'll just give him a flat B.
I hope he does okay there in the receiving game
slash passing game. I guess Jarreck Goff. I'll give him
a C minus. I almost said bench. He's only had
three top twelve quarterback finishes this season. Nearly fifty percent
of his fantasy points have come from touchdowns. He's twelve
(04:59):
in yards per game, and this Eagles defense has only
allowed two multi touchdown games all year, and in the
red zone they are staunched. They have the lowest epa
per pass in the league by a country mile. So
I really don't want to play Jared Goff unless you're
truly in a pinch his receivers. You know, I'm on
Rossaint Brown. I'll give him a C plus. He's a
good player in the last month, averaging ten plus targets,
(05:19):
seventy two yards and half a touchdown per game. But
the Eagles defense uses a lot of nickel personnel, especially
in the red zone, which means a lot of zone coverage,
and a'man Rossaint Brown has not scored in zone coverage
yet this season, so I don't like his opportunity to
get into the pay dirt. And you know this Eagles
defense again, they've allowed just one touchdown to wide receivers
(05:41):
lineup in the slot as well. Cooper dejene is a
very good slot corner six fewest yards per snap allowed,
so to not a good spot for Amana Rossain Brown
this week. Jamison Williams. He's been on the upswing three
of his last four games, six plus targets, four plus
reception sixty six plus yards and a touchdown in each
of those three games. The fourth game was a Detroit
total system failure against Tampa Bays. I'm not going to
(06:02):
give him too much guff for that one. He's been
very good lately and the Eagles are twenty second and
explosive passing plays allowed in last month granted against or
maybe not granted, but even considering it's been some tough
for passing offense like Green Bay the Giants twice at Minnesota,
so I think this is an okay spot. I will
give Jamison Williams a B minus, hoping for a big play.
(06:23):
They probably will only have one or two in this game,
and Jamison Williams has been the guy to get it.
Also should mention that Sam Laporta is out Brock right
on the other hand, bench him bench minus. Don't want
to deal with him at all. Last year, he did
play eighty two percent of snaps in the one game
Laporta missed, but he had one target, one reception for
one touchdown. I suppose, but I'm not gonna take that gamble.
(06:44):
I'm out on him.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
But wait, bench minus is better than bench plus, though
I would think.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Oh, do I need a flip?
Speaker 6 (06:50):
Yeah, I don't know, but we'll just give him the
flat bench that I'll to make things easy.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
Over on the Philadelphia side of things, Jalen Hurts, I
will give a B grade two. I'm not going plus
or minus on him. He's right in the middle. He's
just had low volume, no more than twenty six passing
attemps in the last three games. The lines have the
third lowest dropacks success rate in the last month. The
only other thing, though, is that the lines are potentially
missing many secondary pieces this week already out Kirby, Joseph Still,
(07:17):
and and Ryan Arnold, and then questionable for this game
is DJ Reid and Amik Robertson. So a lot of
losses in the secondary could open up a little bit
of passing opportunity. But the rushing lately has been very muted.
For him only eleven yards per game week five on
and one rushing touchdown compared to weeks one through four
where he had forty five yards per game and four
rushing touchdowns. So it's been a little bit muted. Sakuon
(07:39):
Barkley C grade. It's just really hard to start him
in many spots over a lot of players with better matchups.
He had one hundred and one scrimmage yards last game,
but he was twenty two for sixty on the ground.
It's two point seven yards per carry. He's only had
four rushing touchdowns so far this year, and he's twenty
third in red zone rushing attempts, which is rising considering
(08:01):
this offense was so powerful last year. He needs those
explosive rush tds, but the lines have allowed the sixth
fewest of those this year and their third fewest fantasy
points allowed to running back, so it's just not really
a good path for that, and their secondaries more beat
up than their front seven. Is the passing game. The
receiving weapons for Hearts Stevanna Smith, their wide receiver one,
(08:23):
gets a B grade. In last three games, he's averaging
nine targets, six point three receptions, and one hundred and
twelve receiving yards and two touchdowns in that stretch. The
Lions have only allowed one one hundred yard receiver all year,
and that was Jamar Chase. But again, with these secondary
issues going on in Detroit, I think there's a little
bit better opportunity. Since Amik Robertson transition out of the
(08:43):
slot a few weeks ago, the fillon has been thirty
two year old journeyman Arthur Mallett, who has a plus
sixteen percent catch right over expectation and plus six point
five EPA per play, which is twelfth worst among qualified cornerbacks.
I think just a pretty decent spot for DeVonta Smith.
I'll leave it to his words quote, if you got
me on Fantasy, get rid of me. I give him
(09:05):
a C grade. Like I'm sure you probably have to
start him in some spots. But he's coming off a
three target, two reception, thirteen yard stinker of a game. Granted,
the whole game was a stinker, but he really didn't
do much in it at all. His only double digit
target game all year was way back in Week three.
The secondary injuries to Detroit make the splash play a
little enticing. He does have two top five wide receiver
(09:27):
finishes to DeVonta Smith's one, so there's at least that
he gets the C and then Dallas Goddard he gets
a C grade as well. Forty four fewer yards in
all but one game this year. He's had a lot
of touchdown In fact, he leads to the league with seven,
but three of the last four tight ends against the
Lions have logged. Excuse me, the tight ends against the
Lions this year have only allowed four touchdowns, so it's
(09:49):
a little bit of a struggle. But they have allowed
at least fifty four receiving yards in three of the
last four weeks, so he's got a little bit of
a yardage floor. And that's it for the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
All right, let's go over two, the Seahawks taking on
the Rams. Brian will start on the Seahawks side, and
of course Sam Donald.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, this game better off known as the Battle of
Brian's but yes, we're rooting for Sam Donald here in
a homecoming game. Either way, Uh a grade for Donald.
I won't give him the plus. I'll be realistic here,
just the best quarterback. By the way, someone told me
Sam Donald sucks for scoring like six fantasy points last week.
(10:30):
If you didn't watch the game, it went pretty sideways. After
he threw an eighty R bomb to Jason for a touchdown.
Then the defense scored twice and they didn't need to throw.
But anyway, A for Donald the best quarterback the Rams
have face since Week five, but since Mac Jones, and
they've seen him twice. Mac went for three forty two
and two and then three nineteen and three last week,
(10:50):
So A for Donald. He's going to Jackson, Smith and Jig.
But who gets an A plus matchup proof great Calvin
Johnson's singles steven single season receiving record.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
And people say, oh, he's going to an extra game.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
He's on pace to do it less than forty plus
targets than what Megatron did in twenty four whoever it was.
And receiving yards per route run leaders JSN four point
six to two. Next up Pop and nakup at three
point four to four. That has a massive delta A
plus or JSN just to see for Rashid Shaheed and
(11:24):
Cooper Cup. Revenge game for Cooper Cup. Can't leave that out.
Last week's route of the Cardinals went sideways so fast
we didn't get a full read on the revamped Seahawks
wide receiver room Cup ran sixty nine percent of the routes,
she heed sixty two percent.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'll get.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
I'll give both the seed. The matchup is not bad.
Over the last five games, the Rams have surrendered just
two wide receiver touchdowns, but during that same span, opposing
wideouts are averaging more than one hundred and sixty yards
per game as a whole. That's a solid number. That's
getting stapped big time by a dud game from the
lowly Saints in Week nine. So she heed an cup
post startable, But I got Kenneth Walker and Zach Sharboney
(12:04):
on the bench. Sharbone blew up the box score last week,
Walker still outpaced him. I don't care this match of
his brutal on paper. Just one running back rushing touchdown
allowed by the Rams all season. LA also allowing just
seventy three rushing yards per game to the position. And
the only way you're having success through the air is
if you're Christian McCaffrey. Kenneth Walker is not Tony Pollard,
(12:27):
Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Travis etn Alvin Kamara all nothing
on the ground through the air against the Ramps, so
both Seahawks backs on the bench over and so on
of the tight ends too split there. Aj Barner underrated
push push, though he's pretty good at it over the
Rams side. Kyron Williams C minus here for Kyen brutal
(12:49):
matchup Seattle allowing just sixty seven rushing yards per game
to running backs this season. No blown back has topped
seventy rushing yards against the Seahawks, who have also surrendered
just three rushing score to the position all year. So
just a C minus for Williams. Blake Korum is on
the bench because he is stealing work from Williams. Why
Williams gets such a low grade, But do not start
Korum this week. You are going to start pooking a
(13:12):
Kua and utilize the minus though just an A minus.
Seattle has only allowed one one hundred yard receiver all season,
and their corner duo is scary good. Three k Wollin
and Josh Joe both ranked top five by Pro Football
Focus in lockdown percentage. That's why DeVante Adams just a
B minus. Hurt his oblique rotating his upper body at
the start of a break on his route last week.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Welcome to old age. Davante Right.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Boys should be okay for this one, though, but just
a B minus. It's a tough matchup, tough matchup, the
toughest match up for the Rams in general all year.
That's why all four Rams tight ends are on the bench.
If any of you guys can name all four, I'll
give you a prize. I doubt it can be done.
You have ten seconds, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
I don't think we're going to get to the three
or four.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
To be honest, they're all on the bench, so I
don't worry about it.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
And Matt Stafford B plus for Stafford over his last
three games four touchdowns, no picks, four touchdowns no picks,
five touchdowns no picks. Those three games total the same
amount of touchdowns thrown by Jordan Love all season. But
this is by far the toughest test for Stafford. But
you can say the same for the Seahawks, who have
(14:23):
allowed multiple touchdown passes Jacobi Prissett and Trevor Lawrence in
recent weeks. This game should be an epic showdown. I
think the offenses prevail over the defense, so I'm excited
for this one. And lastly, and certainly not least for
my hero, my good friend and the godfather of fantasy football,
Paul Charchion. My final Fantasy FONSI A. Charch Brending you
(14:50):
on face cooked over fourteen years ago changed my life.
It wasn't glorious at the jump, started with pro bono
writing gigs. Btxj's prospects were bleakd, but your tutelage was priceless,
and your belief in me birth the bell cow whose
dream of working at Fantasy sports had come true. From
fantasy victory to guillotine leagues. Thanks for taking a chance
(15:11):
on me, Charge, especially here on Fantasy Football Weekly, for.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Ten plus seasons.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
It's been an honor to be one of your fortunate
co hosts, an opportunity many would kill for, and one hell.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Of a ride.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
I will ever forget. I will peacock about this experience
until the day I die.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Charge.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I speak for everyone on this show and the millions
of listeners over your thirty one plus historic seasons on air.
You are forever the one oh one of Fantasy Football Weekly.
I love you more than a million. Sam Darnold's out
Hi praise, Thank you man, man.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
That's very, very touching. Thank you very much. I really
appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Ken.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
You this is your final segment Fantasy Football Weekly. Anything
you want to say to our listeners.
Speaker 6 (15:58):
My tenure has been short with this program, and I
know you all have been grinding at this for a
long time, and I absolutely respect the hell out of
each and every one of you. I thank you very
much for including me in this podcast, this show, and
this event, this life event. So I appreciate you and
best wishes with everything else.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Thank you, Ken, It's.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Been great working with you, getting to know you.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
You are really, really talented.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
When we come back, the final Take a Chance on Me,
Although it may continue in its next life with Fantasy Life,
but for at least for this crew and this group,
this will be the final Take a Chance on Me.
When we return to Fantasy Football Weekly, you are guaranteed
(17:26):
to smile with these nine players that you can pick
up off the waiver wire. In many cases, these are
not players you would normally start, but for whatever circumstances
you can. This week, we begin with Scott Fish. Hello, Scott,
who is your take a Chance to meet? Quarterback?
Speaker 7 (17:42):
Hi?
Speaker 5 (17:43):
I'm going with Jacoby Brissett this week. As I've mentioned
on previous shows. The forty nine Ers are bottom three,
usually the worst in almost every pressure category pressures, Hurry's
knockdown sacks, blitz rights, everything he won't see pressure. Brissett
has two hundred and fifty plus yards and multi scores
in four straight games going against that bottom forty nine,
(18:04):
bottom ten forty nine Ers defense. That's allowing top ten
marks in completions, attempts, yards, and scores in the past game.
They also only have one interception this year. That defense
is not what we're used to for forty nine ers defenses. Yeah,
and it's a banged up secondary. They have allowed multiple
scores in five of the last six to quarterbacks and
just one of those quarterbacks was under two hundred and
(18:25):
forty yards. So good spot for present.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I'm putting the over under on Trey McBride targets. With
Marvin Harrison out at twenty three, let's go.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Let's come a season high. Jamar Chase had that earlier
this season.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
That's right right, that wouldn't even beat the season high.
Matt Harrison, who is your take a chance on me? Quarterback?
Speaker 7 (18:49):
I've got two tunguevailoa in Madrid against the Washington Commanders.
He's thrown for multiple touchdown passes in six of his
ten games this year, including two in each of the
last three weeks against Atlanta and Buffalo. They're both top
ten pass defenses, so two is getting it going a
little bit. This week he gets his best defensive matchup
(19:10):
of the year against the Commanders. Washington has allowed the
most passing yards of two hundred seventy three per game
and the second most passing scores at twenty two already,
which is well over to per game.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Go to a.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
My take a chance with me quarterback is Aaron Rodgers
taking on the Bengals. Cincinnati's allowed multiple touchdowns six times,
including to Aaron Rodgers, who threw for four touchdowns with
these teams met a month ago. The Bengals are historically
bad against tight ends. They are dead last and tight
end yards allowed, and they are on pace to allow
(19:46):
twenty three tight end touchdowns this season that would shatter
the all time futility record.
Speaker 7 (19:53):
In one season.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
The beauty of starting Rodgers you don't have to guess
which one or two of the tight ends will do
well for the Steelers because he's gonna throw them all.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
And these teams met.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Last month again Rogers four touchdowns. We're going to go
with Aaron Rodgers. Did they take a chance for the quarterback.
Let's go to the running back position.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
This is a nostalgic one for me. I'm going with
the guy who I've played in a fantasy league with before.
I know who it is, and I've actually chosen this
guy twice this year and he scored a touchdown both
times I chose him as a take.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
A chance on me playing peacock right there.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Okay, so let's go for a third time with Tyler
Algier going against the Panthers a bottom ten defense against
running backs in both touches and yards. Loud to backs.
He doesn't just lead carries inside the ten over Bejon Robinson.
It is a thirteen to five advantage when you get
inside the ten and the five, it is Tyler Algier time.
(20:52):
I think his seven to ten touches are likely here.
Game scrap should be good for Tyler Algier and he
might get you a score again. I mean that's the trend, right, that.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Is the trend.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
He's got more touchdowns than but John Robinson, Matt Harrison,
your take a chance on me running back.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
I'm gonna go with a guy that I play in
a fantasy hockey league with, and that's what he's playing
against the Titans this week. Marx has led the Houston
backfield in fantasy points in three of the last four weeks,
and last week he led in touches sixteen to six
over Nick Chubb. The Titans are terrible against the run
four point nine yards per carry, fifth worst in the league,
(21:30):
one hundred and thirty five combo yards per game that's
eleventh worst. But the main issue is they've allowed the
most touchdowns to running backs this year at fourteen. Woody
Marx guaranteed touchdown.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Wow, all right, going out to do well. See, you
don't have to live, you don't have to answer to
anybody if you're wrong. Your guarantee means nothing. In the
final episode, what he marks a sending player. Although they've
been they've gone out of their way to say that
Nick Chubb remains on top of the depth chart and
that it is not a fish change.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
But the coach did make a statement this week that
Woody marks is now the starter.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Oh okay, all right, so the back finally, finally, yes, exactly.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Are we all knew that a little bit.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
All right, let's go to my take a chance on
me running back, and that is a Mari de Mercado
going up against the forty nine ers. Bam Knight dinged up,
may not play A Mario Demccado looks better anyway. De
Mercado would be the latest and a long string of
new and different starting backs for the Cardinals. They of
course went James Connor, Terray Benson, Michael Carter to Bam Knight,
(22:33):
and Mario Demarcado. If he starts here, yuck uh dear
Marcado can catch, which factors into this. Niners have allowed
the third most running back receptions. I think will help
out in PPR. I'm not saying he's a special runner,
but he does have the ability to break these long tackles,
and with enough use, I think he gives you some
opportunities against a six to seven nine ers defense.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
That was for the kids there, that's seven bit.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Yeah, I don't really even know what I'm talking about,
but we're gonna throw that in there too. I'm up,
all right, Scott, take it, Canceler, you take it.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Answer me, receiver.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
Yeah, you went with Aaron Rodgers and you said it
doesn't matter who you who he throws to, You're gonna
get the points with picking Aaron Rodgers. Well, I'm gonna
take one of those tight ends that I think he'll
throw to the most, and that's Pat Fryarmouth. He's he's
been the better tight end of that group all year
opposing qbs. Opposing qbs have a one fifty three passer
(23:25):
rating throwing to tight ends against the Bengals. That's a
Paul Chargion stat right there. The Bengals charts just talked
about their futility against tight ends. Just a few weeks ago.
Pat Fryermouth was the tight end that had five for
eleven and two scores in this exact matchup. I think
the other two tight ends are more dart throws that
you hope for a score. Friarmuth is the one that
(23:47):
you can feel more confident about volume.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
I'm rooting for Darnell Washington because I just love seeing
a man his size catch the ball and rumble, Oh, it's.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
The best, big, oh, big oh slash mount Mount Washington.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
All right, Matt Harrison, your final take a chance on
me player.
Speaker 7 (24:03):
If we would have planned this correctly, we would have
all taken a Steelers tight end as our take a
chance on me receiver, but we we didn't write it.
I have a tight end though as well. I have
zach Ertz against Miami and Madrid in two of the
last three weeks, zach Ertz has led the Commanders and targets,
and since Washington has allowed thirty four to twenty eight
to thirty eight and forty four points in the last
(24:25):
four games, they've been in some pass heavy game scripts.
He faces Miami and it should be a high scoring affair.
The Dolphins defense has been doing their best Cincinnati Bengals
impression in the last two weeks, allowing four touchdowns to
the tight end position in just two games. It's not
just the last few games, though, They've given up the
third most yards and the third most receptions to tight
ends as well.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
All Right, my final take a chance on me player
and I do meet final. It is a Washington versus
Washington matchup. Malik Washington the Miami wide receiver taking on
the Washington Commanders. At this point, any carbon based life
form facing the Commanders is in consideration. My carbon based
life form runs from the slot where he faces the team,
allowing the second most fantasy points to opposing slot receivers.
(25:10):
Guys who predominantly run from the slot are nuking the
Commanders last week. I'm on Ross Saint Brown, Jackson, smith
Manjigbo before that, then Tory Horton and Rashid Rice and
Seedee Lamb going back. All of them way better than
Malik Washington, but they all posted monster games against the Commanders.
I think Malik Washington running out of the slot for
Miami is an option here. Matt, like Tatua Tungo Violoa,
(25:32):
as has take a chance with me quarterback, I'll take
one of his receivers as well. All right, let's go
back to the matchups. We go to the Cincinnati Bengals
at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Scott, this might be Joe Flacco's
final start for the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
It might be, and I expected to be yet another
good one on the Bengals side. I love the pass
game here. I have a grades on Joe Flacco to
mar Chase and T Higgins. The Steelers allowing the second
most attempts completions in yard to quarterbacks, most receptions to
wide receivers, second most yards to wide receivers. It's a
great spot for both of them. Flacco had three hundred
(26:07):
and forty two yards and three scores in their first
meeting a few weeks ago. Has had multiple scores in
every game since. Chase saw twenty three targets that game.
I'm not expecting that this game. But he has been
averaging fifteen targets a game with Joe Flacco, which is ridiculous,
and his lowest yard at day was ninety one yards.
T Higgins has double digit fantasy points in five straight,
(26:29):
including every Flacco start, And I'm gonna give a C
minus because I'm gonna try it. Seawal a C minus
to andre Yosi Vash Over the last six weeks, Steelers
allowed the sixth most fantasy points to the slot just
over the last month and a half. Yoshi went three
for forty nine in the previous matchup. Chase and Higgins
(26:51):
saw thirty three targets game, and those targets have slightly
even out a little more since. So I think Yoshivas
yoh Stevosh can get a little extra work here see
minus grade there. Chase Brown gets a slightly better than
volume C here, maybe a C plus, maybe a B
minus in a yeah with Perene samaj P Ryan having
(27:15):
a high ankle spring. Chase saw fourteen targets last week,
which is unreal for a running back. That's I think
that's the most this year. He caught eight of them. However,
the Steelers are seventh to seventh toughest against fantasy backs.
It took Kamani Vedal twenty five carries just to get
to ninety five yards on them. Two games before that,
(27:36):
Jonathan Taylor was forty five yards, Josh Jacobs was thirty
one yards. Backs need to do a lot to get
a good grade, and Chase I think gets the volume
C plus the pass catching C plus for Chase. Lastly,
no offense is on the bench. He scored in two
of his last three, but only three tight ends have
top forty five yards against the Steelers, and those three
(27:57):
were targeted at least nine times. I just I brought
up just to get that up. Get the ninth n
Rogers was play quarterback. Obviously grade on him as well.
Bengals are terrible against quarterbacks, running backs and tight ends.
(28:19):
Against wide receivers, they allow the ninth fewest receptions and
sixth fewest yards. It's weirdly the one spot where they're
actually not letting up a lot. The QBS thrive on
throwing to the tight ends and the backs. I'm still
gonna give dk Metcalf a C grade here. The Bengals
allow the fourth most explosive plays, though their little bend
not break. Metcalf has been known to break one. He's
(28:43):
averaging five for fifty, which is nice.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Four.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
He gets a lot of targets. However, he will be
guarded by PFF's third graded coverage corner, DJ Turner. So
just to see there. Pat Fryarmouth was my take a
chance on me tight end, and I said, the other
ones are more dart throws if you're really hoping for
just a touchdown. Jalen Warren I have an a grade
on him, and I think it's smash spot they've allowed.
(29:08):
The Bengals have allowed ten runs over twenty plus yards,
the second highest yards per carry, the most conbo yards,
the second most scores to backs, and six of the
last seven lead backs all topped one hundred total yards
on the Bengals. The game where it didn't happen was
Jamar Jamier Gibbs and David Montgomery going for eighty seven
(29:29):
and seventy one, respectively. So it was a split duo
that kept him under one hundred, so a grade for
Jalen Warren. Here.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
All right, let's take a break when we come back.
Commanders taking on the Dolphins. This is a couple of
defenses that can be very yielding, but can these offenses
take advantage? Find out when we come back to Fantasy
Football Weekly. Welcome back Fantasy Football Weekly. I am Paul Charchian,
(30:42):
co hosts today Scott Fish and Matt Harrison Matt in Madrid,
early Sunday game. Commanders take on the Dolphins and the
Commander's running game has been a disaster for over a month,
but now they face arguably the worst run defense in
the league.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Something's got to give.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
Yeah, And I'm gonna start this segment by becoming Matteo,
which was my Spanish name in fourth grade back at
Minwah Elementary and obla a little Espanol in a few
spots here for you guys. So Marco Mariota gets a
sey Minos grade. He's been mui officiente, completing over seventy
(31:19):
percent of his passes over his last dose starts, but
the yardage has been low and he's only thrown six
touchdown passes in the last SINCO games, he has had
at least twenty Corriendo that's rushing yards in every game
that he's played in this year, which helps a little bit.
And the Delphines that's the Dolphins have been vencido, which
(31:42):
is beaten by rushing quarterbacks. They've allowed the sixth most
rushing yards and the fourth most rushing scores to quarterbacks.
Zach Ertz was my Dama una opera Tuna Dad, that
receptor might take a chance on me. Receiver Aha, go.
Deebo Stamuel has actually been very good against ancho receptorrees,
(32:07):
but for some reason they're giving up the third fewest
recepcion yards. That's okay because debo five point seven depth
of target is so low. So amongst wide receivers with
at least thirty receptions this year, only Khalil Shakir and
Malik Washington have a lower a punto than Deebo. It's
an a dot yeah, sou. Short passes are a thing
(32:31):
for Deebo and Miami. They faced the aforementioned Khalil Shaker
last week and he put up seven for fifty eight,
which is fine in PPR. So all gave Deebo a
sey Moss grade since a CPOs. All the other receivers
are getting between twenty and thirty nine percent of the snapshare,
so they're all out the running backs Jacory Krosky, Merritt,
(32:51):
who they call Germo in Spain, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez.
But Giermo is getting about half the rushing attempts in
McNichols and Rodriguez are splitting the remainder. The problem for
Krossky merit he hasn't scored in Sinco weeks. He also
is in top three point six yards per carry in
any game in those last five weeks. But the Dolphins
could be a depression destructor a slump bufter. They're allowing
(33:17):
four point nine yards per carry and the third most
rushing yards in the league. I'll throw a se Moss
grade on Guillermo Krossky, Merrit Banco. That's the bench for
the other two running backs. Devon a Chan gets an
a Moss grade. That's an A plus for him. Two
hundred twenty five Comba Nacion yards and two scores last
(33:37):
week against a bad Buffalo. Rundi run Dy and the
Common Dantes are not much better. They've allowed the fourth
most combo yards to opposing corridores at one hundred and
forty four per game. That's almost all a chance. Uh.
I guess you could call him dose tua. He was like,
oh yeah, my dama una opportunity, the adad parasour and
(34:02):
so bad at this leake Washington was charge, just take
a chance on me, receptor.
Speaker 6 (34:08):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
The final dolphin you can start is Jalen Anadir, which
is waddle in Spanish. He is a bay Minos grade.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (34:18):
He scored in two of the last trace and has
had at least sinco recepcis in five of the last six.
The comment Dante's are allowing the most wide receiver yardage
in the league this year at one hundred and seventy
eight per game, and the fifth most tokar abbajos, which
is very loosely translated to touchdowns. Okay, I hate myself
(34:42):
for doing that. I'm so sorry.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
I thought it was great and I am I am
going to miss all of our correspondent correspondence.
Speaker 7 (34:52):
Well, I wish that Colin or one of the other
guys could have joined us today, but unfortunately it was
no Dice.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Baltimore take on the Cleveland Browns. I want to start
with Dereck Henry. Ravens have been leaning on him heavily
of late, averaging twenty one carries per game over the
last month, and that has helped spark three consecutive raven wins.
So they're highly motivated to keep running him. But that
is the end of the good news for Derrick Henry.
The Browns are an elite run defense. They ranked third
in Fantasy points allowed first and yards per carry first,
(35:21):
and run defense success rate first, and yards before contact,
which is critical for Henry because Derrick Henry doesn't break tackles.
Get this, Derrick Henry has only ten broken tackles on
the year. That is fewer than teammate Justice Hill, who
has one hundred and thirty fewer carries than Derrick Henry.
(35:43):
He comes into this tough matchup with just a B grade.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
That tracks. That tracks for me. I see Derek Henry
and I think easy to tackle. That's the first easy
to tackle, go go figure never expect weird.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Right, Yeah, We'll head over to the passing game. Lamar Jackson.
Obviously A grade.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Browns are far easier against the pass and pretty much
impossible to run on in every good quarterback to face.
The Browns has posted good numbers, including Jackson, who threw
for four touchdowns in the Week two matchup between these teams.
For Zay Flowers, he stung the Browns in the earlier
matchup seven catches seventy five yards, and last year in
Cleveland he posted seven catches for one hundred and fifteen yards.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
We'll figure seven catches here.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Flowers runs from all parts of the field and none
of the Browns quarterback cornerbacks have PFF grades higher than
cornerback fifty one. So Zay Flowers safe start B grade
for Mark Andrews totally touchdown dependent, giving you almost nothing
when he does not score. But Andrews has scored three
times in two games. In the earlier meeting with the Browns,
(36:43):
he had one catch for two yards, and that illustrates
the downside of Mark Andrews whatever it's worth. He scored
in both of the Browns meetings last year. Cleveland has
allowed the six fewest tight end receptions. So I would
not play Andrews unless you are a huge underdog and
you need something. You need touchdowns bench for markners. All right,
let's go over to the brown side. Quinch On Judkins
(37:04):
is an absolute workhorse unless the Browns are getting blown out,
in which case they go away from him because he
doesn't catch. But the Browns defense has been great at home.
They're giving up just thirteen and a half points per
home game, so maybe this game is a little bit
tighter than people think it's going to be, and the
Browns keep it close and they keep running Judkins. Now,
(37:26):
the Ravens run defense is the only element that really
hasn't improved for the Ravens defense over the course of
this year. They are still very beatable on the ground,
as they have been all season, and Judkins comes in
with a beak right. Both Harold Fannin and David and
Joku dinged up but will play. In the earlier meeting,
they finished respectively with forty eight and forty yards against
(37:48):
the Ravens, which is where most leading tight ends tend
to finish against the Ravens. Baltimore is only allowed two
tight ends scores all year. That's fourth best. Despite playing
through a hamstring injury. Fan and has a higher utilization
score in three straight so we prefer Fan in here.
I'm giving him the C grade and a bench grade
for In Djocob. Let's go over to Jerry Judy. His
(38:08):
twelve targets last week was an aberration, and I don't
like chasing last week's box scores, so we're gonna be
very cautious on Judy. The Ravens secondary now at full health,
much much improved. They clamped down on Justin Jefferson last week,
but the two previous receivers, Jalen Waddle and Roman Dunes,
they were able to post good games against the Ravens
and that opens up a small window for Jerry Judy
(38:30):
with a C grade. Last guy, I want to mention
on the Browns Cedric Tillman. I'm convinced that he is
the best receiver on this team, but I don't love
the matchup against the healthy Baltimore secondary, and he didn't
do much on his first game back half off IR
last week. So we're just gonna wait and watch Cedria Tilman.
All right, Let's gover to Scott Fish the Los Angeles
(38:51):
Chargers taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
In this one.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
For the Chargers, Camanie v Dall potentially sitting on a
really game against he's struggling Jacksonville defense.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
Yeah, I could start there, but I'm actually going to
start in the pass game real quick Herbert gets an A.
The Jags allow the ninth most yards, third most score.
Six straight quarterbacks have gone for multiple scores and or
three hundred plus yards. Davis Mills even went for three
hundred yards and two scores. So with Herbert with multiple
scores in four straight, I'm giving an A grade to Herbert.
(39:26):
He is actually my number one ranked cornerback quarterback this week.
Lad McConkie is the only other wide receiver that is
going to get an A from me here. He has
fifteen plus Fantasy points in four or five going against
a bottom twelve pass dy that's allowed seven wide receivers
scores in just the last four games. Jsn and Devonte
(39:47):
Adams and Nico Collins all crushed them. Quentin Johnston and
Keen Allen are are on the bench. I understand a
dart throw maybe on Quentin Johnston, as he scored in
two of the last three allow the sixth most explosive plays,
and he's he's going against PFF's ninety ninth ranked corner
Greg Newsom, who's already coming in dinged up so he's
(40:09):
got he's got a decent matchup. But keenan Allen Way
on the bench since lads started breaking out two point
six yard catches per game for thirty four yards, that's
just that's nothing. That's absolutely nothing. It's not even a
good matchup in the slot. The Jags over the last
six weeks are sixth the best against the slot. Gadsden. Oh, man,
(40:31):
I got an a grade on him. He's been practicing,
he's in full he's good to go. The Jags have
allowed six straight double digit fantasy days to tight ends Gadsten.
Gadsden himself was averaging an insane six for ninety four
over the last month, and he had no games under
sixty eight yards in that stretch. Over to oh, I
(40:54):
lost it for a second here over to commanding, but
oh he wanted to talk. Yeah, Commandi Vidal, Yeah, commanding
of you, doll. Let's see where I love.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
Here he is. Uh, he's he's doing what he's doing
very well. And he has seen forty one percent stacked
box eight man plus boxes, like one percent of the
time he's facing an eight man stacked box. That's ridiculous.
The Jags, however, are eighth best against fantasy backs, holding
runners to three point eight yards per carry. Each of
(41:27):
the last two weeks, Vidal has been at or around
that mark. He's been under four yards per Gary Jags
allowing the third fewest rushing yards and third fewest scores,
but they do allow the seventh most receiving yards to back.
Maybe backs, maybe Vodell can get a little work there. Unfortunately,
he only has nine catches in his last five starts.
I think you're hoping for a lot of high volume here.
(41:49):
If you want to get him to A to A B,
he's probably a ceed, but high volume. I'm gonna give
him B because we saw him take twenty five touches
last week. I think he can get enough volume to
be the rarest of rare A volume B maybe a
B minus B mine. Okay, over on the Jaguars side.
Over on the Jaguars side, excuse me. In the past game,
(42:13):
the only player I have a starting great on is
Parker Washington. Only one QB has multiple passing scores on
the Chargers on The person who did it was Daniel Jones,
and he's also the only one to top two hundred
and thirty five passing yards against the Chargers since Week one.
The Chargers also ranked fifth best against fantasy wide receivers,
so it's a tough spot. Washington's been dealing with that hammy,
(42:35):
but since Travis Hunter went down, he's been in the
slot and making the most of it. He's been their
best best wide receiver since then. And the Chargers may
still be without slot corner tarheb still, so he gets
the softest spot of a tough Chargers d I'm keeping
Jacoby Myers and Brian Thomas Junior on the bench. Jacoby
only played forty four percent of snaps got three targets.
(42:57):
Brian Thomas Junior has that high ankle sprain and he's
got a tough matchup on the outside, so even if
he guts it out. He hasn't even been that great
this year in the run game. Traves Cytien fifteen plus
touches in all but one game, and that was a
blowout loss. It was the lowest snap percentage of his season.
He has multiple catches in most games, and lead backs
(43:18):
have topped eighty yards in six of the last eight
against the Chargers. The other two were routinely known as
split backfield, so I'm giving him the volume C plus here.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
All right, Matt Harrison, The challenge is yours ninety seconds.
Houston Texans Tennessee Titans. A dreadful matchup with very few options.
Speaker 7 (43:37):
Woody Marx was might take a chance on me receiver
or running back. CJ. Stroud has been ruled out. Davis
Mills is kind of a bonus take a chance on
me quarterback. He gets a C minus if you give
Mills a full week of practice to get into a
game plan. He came out solid. He had two ninety
two and two through the air, twenty rushing yards and
a rushing score on the ground. It was the second
best quarterback day for a Texans quarterback all season. That's
(43:58):
a shot directly at CJ. Stroud and the Titans are
not very good at football. They've allowed multiple passing scorers
in three straight They're bad. Last week. Davis Mills pepper
Nico Collins with targets fifteen targets in that game, and
he'll match up most often with Jalen Armor Davis, who's
a real person. And they one hundred and ninth ranked
cornerback out of one twelve on PFF. The other four
(44:19):
receivers you don't want to mess with them. Snap counts
there between thirty three and fifty seven percent. They're all
on the bench. Dalton Schultzton practice winsdayre Thursday with a
shoulder injury and an illness. Kate Stover might be back.
The tight ends are on the bench and on the
Titan side, don't start anyone. Spears and Pollard splitting touches
against the top ten run defense. Cam Ward sucks and
(44:39):
there's no obvious advantage for a wide receiver or a
tight end in the game. Derek Stingley and Kamari last
that are better than Calvin Ridley, who probably returns.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
I like it nicely done. Matt Harrison.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
When we come back our number two Fantasy Football Weekly
with Paul Charchi and Scott Fish, Matt Harrison back in moments.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
What's up, guys.
Speaker 8 (45:01):
This is Thorne Eistrom. I was on Fantasy Football Weekly
for the past three years. I hadn't done fantasy football content.
Speaker 7 (45:07):
Prior to that.
Speaker 8 (45:08):
The reason I agreed to do the show was Paul Charchian.
There's nobody better in this space than Paul Charchian. He's
a legitimate radio legend in my home state of Minnesota.
I've discovered in my time in media that not everyone
is the same person on the microphone that they are
off of it. Paul Charchian is an exception to that.
He's as genuine as they come. He took me under
(45:30):
his wing and he showed me the ropes. I owe
a ton to him professionally. He's also as generous as
they come. Little story for you. My mom was a
longtime host at Minnesota Public Radio. Her radio work stopped
in part because she developed MCI, which later turned into Alzheimer's.
A couple of years ago, when she could still get out,
I thought it would be cool for my mom to
sit in the studio with us for a recording of
(45:52):
Fantasy Football Weekly, to let her put the headset back
on be in a studio again, get that feeling again.
I asked Charging if.
Speaker 7 (45:59):
That was possible.
Speaker 8 (46:00):
I didn't expect him to say yes, but he did
say yes immediately. When my mom came into the studio
that day, Charchian told her that he had interned at
Minnesota Public Radio earlier in his career at the same
time that she was there. They had a really nice
conversation and Charge had a spot for he had headphones
for her. My mom was glowing. Paul Charchian is an
(46:21):
elite host and he's been a great mentor to me personally,
he's an even better person. So on his last episode today,
I just wanted to pop in and say to my
friend and mentor, Paul Charchian, hell of a run. Thank
you for letting me come along for a leg of it.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Thank you, Thor nice from that is, those are sweet words.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
I'm Paul Charchian, Scott Fish, Matt Harrison with you Fantasy
Football Weekly, our number two. It's been an honor, by
the way to work with Thor and very excited for
the next stage of his career. We turned to the
Green Bay Packers taking on the New York Giants. No
easy transition there, but we need to make it get
through our matchups. I want to start with Josh Jacobs,
(47:03):
who is sitting on a gigantic game.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
Potentially.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
The Giants run defense is awful, their pass defense pretty good,
so I expect a lot of Josh Jacobs in part
to settle down Jordan Love. So Love can throw fewer
passes and just be efficient, not heroic with his throws
and the Giants have been absolutely smoked on the ground
all year, but the last three weeks of particular. Get this,
They're allowing two hundred and fifteen yards per game to
(47:30):
running backs over the last three weeks.
Speaker 4 (47:33):
That's insane.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
If Jacobs is going to get most of two hundred
and fifteen yards easy A grade for him. Even Emmanuel
Wilson should get out on this number. Two runners have
scored or topped one hundred yards and three straight against
New York. Emmanuel Wilson a viable dart throw candidate with
a C grade. Going over to the passing game. Musgrave
(47:54):
who did nothing last week in his first start without
Tucker Kraft, but that was against a great Eagles tight
end defense. The good news is Musgrave was on the
field all last game. He'll be better this week. The
Giants have given up big games to four the last
five starting tight ends they've faced, including a good game
to Colston Loveland last week. C grade for Luke Musgrave.
(48:14):
Christian Watson comes in with a C grade. He's the
only receiver I would start among the Packers because he
profiles perfectly against the weakness of the Giants secondary. New
York has struggled with fast vertical receivers like Rashid Shaheed,
Taekwon Thornton, Cavante Turpin all posted big games against the Giants,
and they normally don't. Watson led the team in routes
(48:36):
run last week, and he's going to be on the
field enough for some opportunities. And he comes in with
a C grade. For the other Packers receivers, I've talked
about this so many times in the past, few shows
bench grades for all of them. I continue to urge
you to avoid this mess. Romeo Dobs is gonna play.
He would be the safest of these guys. He doesn't
profile great for this matchup. In a pinch, you could
start him. But I've got a bench grade on all
the other guys. Tanatavian Wicks is coming back.
Speaker 4 (48:58):
You to mess up.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
Mess up the snap accounts and routes run for these
guys as well.
Speaker 7 (49:03):
I just don't do it.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
For Jordan Love, as I mentioned earlier, a quiet, efficient
game coming, I believe, not an explosive one, as Matt
Lafleur tries to just restabilize Love build some confidence. I
think that's especially true with the loss of their starting
center Elton Jenkins is out and his replacement, Sean Ryan,
had been benched earlier this year when he.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
Was playing guard.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
The Giants secondary started the season pretty well, but they
have allowed multiple touchdowns to quarterbacks and four straight games.
I just have a sea grade on Jordan Love in
this one for.
Speaker 4 (49:34):
The Giant side.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
Everybody's excited for Yo Lo Jameis Winston throwing into triple coverage,
but the Giants aren't exactly replete with downfield receiving options
for Jameis Winston's trademark deep passes, and the Packers' secondary
is really good. The last two quarterbacks to face Green
Bay have averaged one hundred and forty two yards and
(49:55):
half a touchdowns. Just a sea grade on Jameis Winston,
only on the hope you know he does hit on
one of his trademark long bombs. Wendell Robinson has been
the safest of the Giants receivers by a mile and
the only receiver to consider in this matchup. He runs
mostly from the slot, but the problem is the Packers
are really good from the slot. Green Bay gives up
the third fewest lowest slot percentage of Fantasy points to
(50:18):
the slot, just eight PPR points per game, and even
if Wendel Robinson gets most of those eight PPR points,
that is still not much. THEO Johnson, though, this is
an exciting guy who's really starting to come around. He
has posted top ten finishes in four of the last
six Giants games. Jameis Winston last year in Cleveland is
(50:39):
when he started games. I think it was six games
he peppered David and Joku with targets and he averaged
ten targets, six catches, forty six yards and half a
touchdown David and Joko did with Jameis Winston. So I'm
hoping that THEO Johnson's going to get some of that
same ten targets, six keeds. It's forty six yards half
a touchdown. That'd be great.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Are giving up?
Speaker 5 (51:01):
Yeah, Similarly, THEO Johnson athletic freak, like David and Joku
athletic freak. Maybe that's the style that Jamis likes.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Packers giving up big games to high volume tight ends.
Opposing tight ends with six or more catches are averaging
sixty four yards in a full touchdown per game. And
again six catches is what David and Joko was getting
for Jamis Winson. So we hopefully Hopefully that all comes together.
Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy, I don't like him here.
The Packers are really good run defense, and this time
share feels really ugly. Two weeks ago it was more Singletary,
(51:33):
last week it was more Tracy. Only Rico Dowdell has
scored against Green Bay on the ground since Week four,
and only Dowdell has reached the one hundred yard mark.
If starting center John Michael Schmidz is going to miss
another week, that further complicates matters for both guys. Most
teams are rushing around seventy yards as a team against
green Bay. If you divide that between Singletary and Tracy,
(51:55):
they are both on the bench. Allow me to mention
the Fantasy Life you two channel tons of content every day.
You get the Chop podcast for Guillotine players that continues
on without me every Tuesday and Thursday, plus Eden hard
It's show is awesome, and that's pretty much every day.
Check out the Fantasy Life YouTube channel. All right, let's
(52:17):
get back to more matchups, including the San Francisco forty
nine ers taking on the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 5 (52:22):
Scott the return of Pertty and Piersoll, this week. Yeah, yeah,
they're finally back and I'm giving them both starting grades.
I have C grades on pretty Piersoll and Jennings in
that past game. Pertty's two games were nice two hundred
and seventy seven yards and three hundred and nine yard
days with a pair of scores in each, But the
Cards have only allowed three multiple score games and no
(52:44):
QB his top two hundred and fifty yards since week five.
A slightly interesting note. Second round rookie in PFF's fifth grade,
fifth ranked corner Will Johnson played week one, got injured
in week two, came back week six. All three of
the passing days over two hundred and fifty yards against
against the Cardinals were when he was out or not
(53:05):
playing in full. Two of the three multiple score games
were when he was out or not playing in full.
So like when he's out there, that's when all the
numbers drop. Apparently he had to credit one guy for
the entire defense. Okay, just a really interesting note. He
will be in and he will get he will get Pearsall,
So a C grade on Pearsall. It's better option before
(53:27):
the injury. Couple hundred yard days, a lot of targets
in three or four, but again tougher matchup, and I
think the yards might be a little lower this week
for party. Juwan Jennings is getting a C grade as well.
He's getting Max Melton on the other side, one hundred
and six out of one hundred and nine cornerbacks ranked
by PFF. He should get just enough volume to get
(53:48):
you the C. George Kittle's gonna get a be here.
Five tight ends had seven or more targets against the Cards.
Every one of them had fifty plus yards, and two
of them scored the yardage. However, fifty yards, fifty four,
fifty eight, sixty three not like explosive explosive days, and
the Cards have only a surrendered three tight end scores.
(54:08):
So just a B for George Kittle. A grade on
Christian McCaffrey, who doesn't have a game below nineteen touches
and hasn't had fewer than six targets in any game.
The Cards are middle of the pack against runners, but
they have given up a running back score in all
but one game. Brian Brian Robinson, I am leaving on
the bench. I do see that he's getting those eight
(54:28):
to nine ten carry games, but unless you're looking for
fifty yards, forty yards, thirty yards teams is not. The
thing you need from him is touchdown. He has scored
in two of the last three, but if he doesn't
get the touchdown, he doesn't get you a starting grade.
And I'm not going to count on the touchdown. So
bench grade on Brian Robinson. Over to the other side.
Jacoby Brissette was my take a chance on me player.
(54:51):
Nmri de Marcato was charges take a chance on me
player quarterback and running back respectively. I did have starting
grades on both of them. In the passing game. Michael
Wilson's getting a pretty interesting C grade for me, a
rare volume C grade. I believe Marvin Harrison is out,
Zay Jones is out, so there's gonna be a lot
(55:13):
of targets to go around. It might be a Mario
Demarcato with eight targets and Trey McBride with twenty three
targets I believe you predicted, but there should be some
targets left over for Michael Wilson, who's been the next
man up in targets. The forty nine ers d allowing
the fourth most receptions, fifth most targets, and tenth most
scores to wide receivers, So I think he has been
(55:35):
averaging forty yards a game with Persett. That extra ten
plus targets that need to be spread around, I think
that bumps him from forty to sixty or seventy. Trey
McBride gets an A grade. His four best target games
are with Jacoby Brissett, thank you Ian Fish for that.
With Harrison out, this may be a huge day. Forty
nine ers in the middle of the pack in yards
(55:55):
and receptions to tight ends, but they have allowed eight
scores and Trey is the best tight end that will
face all year, and he gets the highest volume of
all the Titans they've played all year. And with a
Mario demccado, as you're taking chance on me, player, I'm
actually putting Bam Knight and Michael Carter both on the bench.
I don't even care who starts or if one sits.
Their totals they're totals. BAM's last four games thirty three,
(56:18):
forty seven, sixty four and fifty four yards like so
nothing with one score, and Carter's four games four yards,
thirty six yards, zero yards and sixty four yards no scores,
like even when they've had the backfield to themselves. Mostly
they're not putting up anything, so bench great on both
of them.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
All Right, Matt, let's go over to the Buccaneers taking
on the Bills. There was some talk and hope that
Bucky Irvy might come back, but that is not going
to be the case. And really we've seen kind of
a two headed rushing attack for the Buccaneers of late.
Speaker 7 (56:51):
Yeah, I think Sean Tucker is kind of a bonus.
Take a chance on me running back this week. Sean
whiteson play too. They're likely going to split carries as
they did last week. It was ten to nine in
favor of White last week and thirteen to twelve in
favor of White the week before. Tucker had more rushing
yards in both of those weeks, though, and the path
of least resistance against the Bills is on the ground.
(57:13):
Ask Devon ah Chan and his two hundred twenty five
combo yards last week. Buffalo's allowing five point three yards
per carry in the second most rushing scores in the league.
And this game also, it's forecasted for thirty six degrees
sustained wins with sixteen miles an hour gusts in the
thirty an hour range and likely lake effect sneat.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
Oh baby, we're gonna get some sneat.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (57:39):
So I think it's a heavy ground attack for Tampa
and I'll give both of these guys C plus grades
in this one. I think Baker Mayfield has a really
tough matchup here. The Bills are top three in passing
yards and passing scores allowed. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging one
eighty seven and one and Baker Baker rebounded last week
with a good performance against the Pats, but he's been
(58:00):
struggling a bit without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. I
got just a C grade on Mayfield for this week,
and I don't feel great about it. Tes Johnson is
totally touchdown reliant. He's scored four times in the last
four games. He doesn't give you much for yardage though
Buffalo has only allowed nine total passing scores all year.
That's nine times nine times nine. I think I'm gonna
(58:24):
leave Tes on the bench. Amecca eg Buca has thirty
four targets in his last three games. It's baby like.
He was healthier last week against the Pats coming out
of the by and that's why he hit one hundred
and fifteen yards in a score. The Buffalo corners aren't great,
none of which is better than fifty fourth out of
Pro Football focuses one hundred and twelve ranked corners, and
(58:46):
it's especially good matchup when Egbuka splits out wide against
Christian Benford, who's allowing a passer rating of one twenty
six in his coverage. I got a B plus on Egbuka.
Kate otten is on the bench, though Buffalo has been
insane against tight ends. One tight end score that was
in Week two, and only one tight end has topped
three catches or fift yards this season. It's gross. Let's
(59:10):
go over to the Buffalo side where James Cook gets
a B. Tampa's middle of the pack again overall against runners,
but one aspect I like here is that the Bucks
have allowed the most receiving yards to opposing backs, and
they're allowing over eleven yards per reception to the running
back position.
Speaker 5 (59:27):
That's insane.
Speaker 7 (59:29):
Isn't always featured in the passing game, but Dalton Kidkate
is out and Cook could just be the default short
option in this one, and he could bust out for
some good passing game stuff here. Josh Allen gets in
a grade. The last rushing quarterback the Buccaneers face was
Jalen Hurts in Week four. He had sixty two yards
on the ground. Tyrod Taylor had forty eight on the
ground the week before that, and I think Allen will
(59:51):
get it done. However, his backup Sad Trombone Ski. He's
on the penches. We just needed to get one more,
one more in thank you. Khalil Shakir has been limited
with ankle and rib injuries all week. He's been in
a non contact jersey. However, football is a contact sport
and we believe Shakir will suit up in a regular
(01:00:12):
color jersey this Sunday. I'm only giving him a C
grade though he's only scored once in his last five games.
And charge, I know you love Shakir.
Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
I do.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:00:20):
He hasn't topped one hundred yards in a game in
fifteen straight contests.
Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
He is number one in yards after contact. That's Khalil Shaker.
But think your stats one hundred. He can't get to
a hundred. That's because he also has an a dot
of like three yards.
Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
Yeah, he's all flow out in the league.
Speaker 4 (01:00:39):
Yes, he does.
Speaker 7 (01:00:40):
Kean Coleman hasn't topped fifty yards in a game since
Week one, and he's only topped three catches twice this season,
so he's on the bench. And lastly, Dalton Kincaid has
been ruled out and Dawson Knox. Some people are going
to he did score a touchdown in the loan game
that Kincaid missed earlier this season, but it's not a
glaringly good matchup. I can't find a way to put
(01:01:00):
Dawson Knox into a starting grade here.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
No, I don't know. I think he's got I think
he's got a chance just on usage in volume, you.
Speaker 7 (01:01:09):
Have one of the Steelers tight ends than Dawson Knox.
Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
It'd be a lot more fun to have Darnold Washington
in my lineup, I'll be honest, than dark Knock. All right,
fair enough, fair enough, This would have been a time
for a C minus.
Speaker 7 (01:01:22):
It would have been a time for a D plus.
How about that?
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
Well, sure, while we're inventing grades, why not when we
come back the Chiefs take on the Broncos. These are
two great defenses. There aren't a lot of great starters here,
but there are some. Find out who you can trust
Between Chiefs and Broncos when we come back to Fantasy
Football Weekly.
Speaker 9 (01:02:03):
Hi everyone, this is who the hell is Robbie Rosenals,
longtime producer and even longer time listener to Fantasy Football Weekly.
When I got my first radio job back in twenty
twelve in Atlanta at a startup station that now broadcast
the Falcons, I was tasked with starting a fantasy football
segment and show, and having already been friends with voice
of the Vikings, Paul Allen, he put me in touch
(01:02:24):
with charge and we spoke for almost two hours on
what makes good content and how to entertain the masses.
Here we are a decade plus later, and the pleasure
was all mine getting to produce it post COVID. From
the way you'd coach up new analysts like Thor and
kent to the patients you'd have with me stuffing my
face with lo Maine missing a queue, the show simply
(01:02:47):
is something I look forward to doing every single week.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
For three plus years.
Speaker 9 (01:02:51):
I worked mornings in radio and came back to the
station Fridays in the late afternoon. Not exactly ideal for
someone who wants to get their weekends started early, but
for a show with this good of people, like charge
and what Scott Fish does with Fantasy cares, it hardly
seems like work at all. From Briann Burdette to Brett
Blakemore to Robbie Rosenhaus, thank you. You took a chance
(01:03:15):
on us and none of us ever realized. A prerequisite
word of the day to produce this show was to
have double initials.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Welcome back Fantasy Football Weekly, Paul Churchi and Scott Fish
and Matt Harrison with you. Another block of matchups here,
beginning with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos,
and which should be a low scoring game for Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
This is a tricky matchup even without Patrick Surtan.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
In this Broncos defense, they have not allowed a passing
touchdown in the two games he's missed zero. Eight of
ten opposing quarterbacks have thrown zero or one touchdown against
the Broncos and Mahomes history against Sean Payton and Vance Joseph.
He's had three meetings against this Broncos coaching staff and
only two touchdowns. The Broncos pass rush is the best.
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
In the league.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
They have the not only the highest pressure rate for
this year, they have the highest pressure rate in the
history of the Next Gens Stats Era, so greates opportunities
for them in a difficult matchup for Patrick Mahomes, who
comes in with a C grade. For his receiver Rashi Rice.
He runs from the slot more than anywhere else in
the field. That puts him up against cornerback Chakwan McMillan
(01:04:34):
most commonly, and like every Broncos defender, he's really good.
He's only allowed one touchdown all year. Still, Rashi Rice
is fantastic and he's averaging nine targets per game. He's
had three touchdowns in three games. Rashee Rice be great
and a tough matchup.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
For Xavier Worthy.
Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
I normally would I would have advised you to bench
him if Patrick Sartan were going, But he's not, and
that means he's gonna have some opportunities to run again.
Sophomore cornerback backup Chris Abrams Drain. Abrams Drain will be
circling Worthy and that is a post. It's not a
real name, charge it's not. Abrams Drain has allowed ten
(01:05:13):
of eleven passes in his coverage to be completed. So
Xavier Worthy comes in as a plausible starter here and
a C grade how about Travis Kelce. Since Rasie Rice's return, target,
Travis Kelce's targets have dropped a five per game. Broncos
are six best in tight end DVOA, so I don't
love this matchup. And they put Brock Bauers on one
(01:05:33):
catch last week. Now, in fairness, the Broncos had allowed
some bigger games over the previous month, and since Rice's return,
sometimes Kelsey does find himself basically uncovered when he goes
in coverage because Rice soaks up defensive attention in the
middle of the field. So I've still got a C
grade on Travis Kelcey for Kareem Hunt. Isaiah Pacheco has
(01:05:54):
been ruled out of this game. The Broncos are a
really good run defense, though no back is top seventy
yards since Week two, and over the last five weeks
opposing runners are averaging only three point seven yards per Carrie.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
It's a tough matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
Hunt doesn't catch much and the Broncos are excellent in
that department anyway, so he's not going to help you there.
It's really a C grade for Kareem Hunt, who's really
touchdown dependent in a tough matchup, all right, let's.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Go over to the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
R J.
Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
Harvey gets his first ever start with JK. Dobbins out,
and it is a tough one. The Chiefs run defense
very good. Over the past five games, they've allowed the
third fewest Fantasy points to runners. Last week, James Cook
was able to get to one hundred and fourteen yards
against the Chiefs, but it took him twenty seven carries
to get there, and prior to that, the Chiefs had
(01:06:40):
slammed the door on Jakorey Krossky, merit ashen Gent, Jamior Gibbs,
David Montgomery, Travis Etn and Derrick Henry all struggling against
the Chiefs. Harvey's going to catch some passes that'll help
from a PPR standpoint, But that's all I can give
you is a C grade on RJ.
Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
Harvey.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
For Troy Franklin, he has emerged the go to receiver
for the Broncos, averaging nine targets per game over the
last month. It is a tough matchup, though, no matter
where Franklin lines up. Get this, all three of the
Chiefs starting cornerbacks rank in the top sixteen of Pro
Football Focus cornerback coverage rankings. There's nowhere to hide Troy Franklin.
(01:07:22):
Since the opener, the Broncos have only allowed three wide
receiver scores and nobody has topped eighty yards. Brutal matchup
for Troy Franklin. I've got just a C grade on him.
Cortland Sutton has moved to the background here, getting fewer
attention and weirdly, they don't throw to them in the
end zone anymore, even though he's got the big body
in the physical presence the contested catches. I don't know
(01:07:43):
why they aren't, but they're not. He has zero end
zone targets since week seven. He's just got the the
I've got a bench grade on Courtland Sutton as Evan Ingram,
just one end zone target all year, and his average
target is just four and a half yards downfield. Fill
a box score that way, he is on the bench.
And lastly, for bon Nicks, the problem is he doesn't
(01:08:06):
run anymore. There are no design runs for this guys.
Most games he's getting one design run a game and
then scrambling is just a total wild card. To his credit,
he's thrown touchdowns in every game, but he's posted explosive
passing games only against terrible defenses like Cincinnati, Dallas and
the Giants. Kansas City is a punishing defense for opposing receivers,
(01:08:27):
allowing zero or one touchdown pass in seven of the
last eight games. Just a C grade on bon Nicks.
All right, let's go to Scott Fish the Carolina Panthers
taking on the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
Yeah, a little bit of an easy one here on
the Panthers side. I only have two starting grades. It's
Rico Dowdell, the Dowdler Road McMillan was tough as Atlanta
has been against the pass, and that's why a lot
of the pass catchers are on the bench. They've led
it up on the ground. They allow the seventh most touches,
sixth most yards, seven most scores to backs. Josh Jonathan
(01:09:02):
Taylor obviously just had a huge two hundred plus yard
three touchdown day over against them, pulling a Ricoddle like
statlite when he was my taket chance on me player
a few weeks ago. Just gonna throw that in there.
But a bunch of other lead backs had eighty plus yards,
and eight different backs have scored against the Falcons. It's
a B grade just for Dowdler because the truly big
(01:09:26):
A level day against the Falcons came on the back
of thirty one touches and thirty five touches. I don't
think that that level. I think he is more in
line with the eighty and maybe a score type level.
So a B grade there. Tedron McMillan, Yeah, is still
seeing five plus targets per game, but the volumes dropped off.
He's still averaging five for sixty, which is a good amount.
(01:09:47):
The Falcons' secondary is a little bit banged up, and
despite being the third best, third best team against wide
receivers this season, more recently, they've allowed five wide receiver
scores in just the last three weeks, and the lead
wide receiver had eighty plus yards in each and all
three of those lead wide receivers scored. So's there's a
chance here for McMillan to still do some work. I
(01:10:09):
gave him a C grade. It's probably better. It's probably
closer to a C plus or B minus. I would
guess I have to make a statement. I guess. I
guess it's let's go with C plus. I guess all right.
Over on the Atlanta side, Bjeon Robinson is an automatic
A and Tyler Algier was taking a chance on me
runner this week. So let's move to the bass game.
(01:10:31):
I have Michael Pennix on the bench. He averages two
hundred and twenty five yards in a score. Carolina allows
an average of two hundred and twenty three yards at
a score. Ennix is a little better at home, but
recent Panther games have been really low scoring, tough battles
and if you need and I don't know how easy
it's going to be for Penix to get a second score.
(01:10:51):
He doesn't do that often. The Carolina Panthers don't allow
that often. And Penix hasn't scored on the ground since
Week one, so he's on the bench. Drake London is
basically an automatic A. Now like he's an auto eight.
Now is he close?
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
I mean, I think so.
Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
One of the most highly targeted red zone players, one
of the most efficient one hundred plus yards in four
last five, scored in four the last five to the
tune of six touchdowns. He's had fewer than eight targets
just once in this entire season, and that was Week two.
So eight plus targets every single game except for that one.
Three straight wide receiver ones went for eighty five plus
(01:11:27):
against Carolina. Two of those three scored, so in a
grade on Drake London, I had hopes for Darnell Mooney
when he came back from injury. His last three weeks
one catch eleven yards, one catch fifteen yards, one catch
seventeen yards. That's the last three weeks. That's just terrible.
Mooney is on the bench. And of course, finally, lastly,
(01:11:47):
we will leave off with Kyle Pitts Brian Johnson Boys
players of all time. He has five plus targets every
single week. In every week this season, he's averaging five
for forty five, which is not bad for a tight end.
It's a good matchup against the Panthers team allowing to
the fourth most yards to tight ends, and it's a
(01:12:09):
Panthers team that just got tagged for one hundred plus
in a score by the Saints tight ends. I believe
jaw Juwan Johnson had ninety three and a score himself.
He hasn't really had many A level games, and even
in this same matchup earlier this year, he only went
four for thirty nine in a blowout where they kind
of stopped passing. So I'm only getting to a B
grade on Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Final matchup of this segment, and the final matchup for
Matt Harrison is Dallas Cowboys at the Las Vegas Raiders.
This feels like a start everybody for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (01:12:44):
Matt Yeah, and I'm gonna channel my inner John mellencamp
here and saying a little ditty about Dandy Lamb. Dak
gets a B minus here. The Raiders have been actually
quite good against the past this year. No quarterback has
hit three hund undred yard mark against Vegas. Only three
of the nine quarterbacks they've faced have thrown for multiple scores. Now,
(01:13:05):
the Dallas defense has been so terrible that it forces
Dak to push the ball though, and his favorite receiver
is still CD and he gets an A grade. George Pickens,
I'm given a B minus two. Pickens has been targeted
nine times or more in three of his last four
times all the Lamb returned. The Raiders have allowed the
seventh most receptions to wide receivers this year. All of
(01:13:29):
the passing yards against Vegas basically are funneled to wide receivers.
They don't give up hardly anything to tight ends. And
hardly anything to running backs. It's all the wide receivers,
but still no wide receiver has topped one hundred yards
against the Raiders since Week one, so go figure. I
think that changes this week. Jake Ferguson, I kind of
wanted to bench him. I'll give him a C minus grade.
(01:13:49):
Though he's had seven targets and two of the last
three and the one he didn't he had one target
and didn't catch a ball, So that's the downside here.
And as I said, the Raiders don't give up much
to tight end. Their top five in every category against
the position. Tyler Warrens fourteen point four PPR points way
back in Week five. That's the high water mark for
(01:14:10):
a tight end against the Raiders this year. That's probably
the ceiling for Ferguson. So that feels like a C
minus grade. Javonte Williams, I'm gonna give a C plus
grade two. There's been some ups and downs for Javonte lately,
rushing yardage totals in the last four games eighty three
forty one won, sixteen twenty nine. Luckily, he's been scoring
(01:14:31):
three times in his last four games, and the Raiders
kind of have a sneaky good run defense. Only Jonathan
Taylor has had an explosive day against the Raiders. No
back has topped eighty four yards on the ground against
them either, So they have allowed rushing touchdowns nine times
in nine games, a double nine times, Robbie sorry nine
(01:14:51):
times nine times, and Robbie, I'm gonna test you here.
Ashton Genty gets the very final Fantasy Ardvark of Fantasy
Football Weekly. There it is. He had a day on
twenty two touches against Denver last week, and the Cowboys
are just brutal against the run. One hundred and fifty
six combo yards allowed to opposing backs. That's almost all Genty.
(01:15:15):
Brock Bowers has the toughest matchup, but I'm still giving
him an A grade. The Cowboys have been best against
the tight end of all the positions, but Trey McBride
had five for fifty five and a score in Week nine,
and that seems like a good guess for where Bowers
will probably come in in this game. They have to
go back to him as the top target this week.
Only three targets last week in that terrible game against
(01:15:37):
Denver the week before, he had thirteen targets, twelve catches,
one hundred and twenty seven yards and three touchdowns. That's
the Brock Bauers upside. You're not sitting him anyway. Tyler
Lockett had the most targets for the Raiders last week.
That's the world we live in now. And Trey Tucker
was also there. Here's the deal. If you have either
(01:15:59):
of these guys on your roster and you're not starting
them against the Cowboys this week, in which you would
ever start them and you can, you can send them
to the Waverwear. The Cowboys have already allowed sixteen touchdowns
to the wide receiver position this week this year. That's
most in the league, and Deron Bland and kyr Elam
they both have a passer rating of one twelve in
their coverage. So I like all the receivers. So Gino
(01:16:21):
Smith gets a B plus. He put up two eighty
four and four two weeks ago in another good matchup
and then was blanked in that weird Thursday night game
in Denver last week. A Scott Fish nugget on Gino Smith.
The last quarterback to fail to get to multiple scores
on the Cowboys was Drew Locke in Week thirteen of
all wow, and Stroud was the only other one last year.
(01:16:46):
So in the last twenty six games, twenty four quarterbacks
have thrown for multiple touchdowns against the Cowboys. You can
bank on two touchdowns for Gino.
Speaker 4 (01:16:57):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (01:16:58):
That's uh.
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
That is that is some remarkable futility right there, that
the likes of which I did not expect and figure
to be drew locked. By the way, who would give
the Cowboys that one opportunity?
Speaker 4 (01:17:13):
When we come back?
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
It is the final segment of this iteration of Fantasy
Football Weekly, including the Chicago Bears taking on the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
Stay tuned.
Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Final segment Fantasy Football Weekly Coming up next, Welcome back
(01:18:07):
Fantasy Football Weekly, Paul Georgie and Scott Fish and Matt
Harrison with you. Final matchup is the Bears at the Vikings.
I have done a lot of these Viking matchups on
this show for thirty one years. If you'd have told
me back in nineteen ninety five that I would have
zero Super Bowls to look at over the course of
thirty one years of this show, I'd be very depressed.
(01:18:28):
Let's get into the Bears side of this matchup. DeAndre
Swift to kalumannung Guy combined since the week five by
for the Bears are on fire, averaging just above and
just below six yards per carry. The Bears offensive line
dominate fourth best and run block win rate, and a
heavy run game is coming for the Bears. The Vikings
run defense isn't bad, but good backs generally end up
(01:18:50):
in B grade territory against the Vikings, and that's going
to be DeAndre Swift here. He's still the one A
ann guy is the Bee back, but I'll mention this
non number one backs have scored on the Vikings in
consecutive games, so I'm a young guy absolutely in play here.
Roma Dunze is the one really reliable part of the
Vikings passing attack outside of his inexplicable goose egg two
(01:19:14):
weeks ago. The Vikings second hear has been ravaged over
the past month, allowing the second most points to wide receivers,
and Romaduonza is.
Speaker 7 (01:19:20):
A safe A grade.
Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
DJ Moore is a little clott murkier. He's the clear
second fiddle to Rome, but still gets enough action to
be a flex level guy and a C grade here.
Viking injuries are going to force a journeyman cornerback Fabian
Moreau onto the field. He is on his seventh NFL team,
He's only seen thirty five covered snaps this year. DJ
(01:19:43):
Moore plays everywhere on the field and can potentially track
down that matchup against Fabian Moreau. He comes into the
Sea grade Paulson Loveland.
Speaker 7 (01:19:50):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:19:50):
At this time last week, I was nervous about Loveland's
role in this offense because the return of col Comet
and Luther Burden.
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
Matt was correct that Loveland was gonna have a good game,
and he did.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
He's split time and routes evenly with Kmet, but Comet
but dominated Comet and targets and receptions. Hopefully that continues here.
The Vikings have given up five tight end scores in
the last five games, so a nice opportunity for Loveland,
who comes in with a Sea grade Caleb Williams. The
Vikings secondary has struggled for five weeks, allowing two point
two passing touchdowns per game, and I like Williams passing prospects,
(01:20:22):
even if it is a run heavy approach, which I
do expect. That's especially true if the Vikings elite pass
rusher Jonathan Garnard can't go then I like Williams that
much more, and mobile quarterbacks have fared pretty well on
the ground against the Vikings, including Caleb Williams in the
season opener when he ran for fifty eight yards and
a score. All right, let's go over to the Viking side,
Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. Since Aaron Jones return, he
(01:20:46):
leads Mason in snaps, carries, routes, yards, and touchdowns basically.
And at this point we just can't start Mason. And
I need you to acknowledge my major with from my
preseason tout to double digit touchdowns for Mason Viking. The
offense just isn't good enough and his roles is not
big enough. Jones is startable, Mason is not. That is
(01:21:06):
me eating Crow. That's exactly what that is right there.
The Browns run defense, bear, excuse me, run defense much improved.
Only Derreck Henry has scored since back in Week four.
C grade on Jones, bench grade on Mason justin Jefferson
coming off a weirdly low effort game, but should bounce back.
The Bears have one healthy starting cornerback, Tyreek Stevenson. He's
(01:21:29):
pretty good, but he only plays one side of the field.
And he can't shadow, so Jefferson could go to the
other side of the field. He's still getting plenty of
targets from JJ McCarthy nine and twelve the last two weeks,
but Jefferson needs better targets.
Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
He needs more accurate passes.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
The Bears have allowed the third most fantasy points to
wide out, so hopefully it gets better for Jefferson here
beer B grade for him for Jordan Addison just two
catches and three catches the last two weeks from JJ McCarthy,
but it's a very positive matchup against Chicago's back. Cornerbacks
Nashaun Wright, CJ. Gardner, Johnson and Addison did post one
hundred and fourteen yards against Chicago in the Week one
(01:22:06):
meeting with McCarthy at the Helm C grade on him.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
TJ.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Howkinson just two catches in each of the last three games.
He hasn't top forty nine yards all year. We are
bench grading TJ. Hockinson unfortunately. And lastly, JJ McCarthy is
a viable dart throw in superflex and two quarterback leagues.
The Bears have seen the second most quarterback rushes in
the NFL, and they've allowed the most quarterback rushing yards
(01:22:32):
and McCarthy's got some mobility. I'd like to see him
get some more design runs. Last week, Jackson Dart ran
in two touchdowns and three quarters before he got knocked
out against the Bears. Opposing quarterbacks have found their way
to multiple touchdowns in five of the past six against Chicago.
Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
I think McCarthy finds his way to two touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:22:48):
Air or ground, making him see grade Hubble. All right, guys,
that is our final matchup for this iteration of Fantasy
Football Weekly. Matt and to Scott, I'd love to give
you an opportunity to talk to the listeners and say
anything you'd like.
Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
Scott, is there anything you'd like to say?
Speaker 5 (01:23:08):
Yeah, I actually didn't prepare anything because I'm I see
and talk to you all all the time, and I
don't think you know. I'm sure there's there's more to
the future coming at some point or whatever. I don't know.
Nobody knows. But since my heart attack eleven years ago
this week I mentioned it a bit this year, I
(01:23:29):
viewed the world differently since that moment in many respects,
and some of it is, you know, to not take
things for granted. Life is sure cherifhing cherishing moments like
when you're in them, and I feel like I've truly
cherished my time on FFW. I love doing this. I've
been blessed. I've been blessed to be a part of
(01:23:51):
a lot of really great things with really great people,
and this is right up there with all of those.
I met some of my best friends outside of the
fantasy industry in this on this show. I love my listeners,
the listeners of this show. I love the co hosts. Paul,
You're one of my favorite people. You've been a mentor.
(01:24:12):
You've been You've helped me in work, You've helped me
in life. You've taught me so much over the years.
I am so happy and proud to consider you one
of my best friends outside of the Fantasy Football Weekly Show.
We're real friends in real life and it's been an
awesome run. And congratulations to you on thirty one years
(01:24:32):
doing this. And you know I love you, man, I
love you.
Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
I love you too, Scott. Thank you very much for
those kind words. Matt, anything you want to say, yeah,
fourteen years man for me.
Speaker 7 (01:24:45):
I'd like to thank my wife Melissa, my kids, Tate, Haley, Jacob,
and Sam for putting up with me delaying their weekend
for fourteen years, and Fish, Brian Kent, thor CP and
two V for all the fun and Bo Mitchell for
retiring from the show which opened a spot for me.
And people always ask me how I got into the
fantasy sports industry, and it really has to do with
(01:25:06):
this show. I loved Kfan, I loved Fantasy Football Weekly,
and I made it a personal goal to get on
this show. And I went and bugged Chart at a
Sludge in Lake Live event at Majors in Albertville, and
he put me in contact with Bo Mitchell at the
Old Fanball and they gave me a job as an intern,
and I got laid off three months in, and I
(01:25:27):
just kept bugging charge, first to write for Fantasy Victory,
then to work at League Safe, and then to start
the Fantasy Football Almost Daily podcast, and then to let
me on this show. And for some reason he said
yes to all of those things. So I owe just
an absolute ton in my professional life to you, Charch,
and I really can't thank you enough for taking a
(01:25:47):
chance on me and becoming such a great friend. So
I raised my glass of old red reserve to you.
Speaker 3 (01:25:53):
Sarah, all right, that is delicious Old Red Reserve nine
nine years absolute. As I mentioned at the outset of
the show, Fantasy Football Weekly is turning a new page.
Fantasy Life owns the show, and starting next week they'll
bring you a new version of Fantasy Football Weekly, hopefully
launching another thirty one years. I want to thank the
(01:26:15):
various stations that picked up Fantasy Football Weekly and syndication.
It's been amazing to hear our show in markets across
the country, and a very heartfelt thanks to my co
host Matt Harrison, Brian Johnson, Scott fish Thorneistrom you.
Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
Got Kent Wyrock.
Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
Fantasy Football Weekly Listeners is a labor of love. I
know you can hear the absurd level of preparation and
dedication that goes into every episode. They have brought insight, laughs,
and hopefully some fantasy football wins you might not have
otherwise had perhaps exactly nine of those fantasy football wins.
(01:26:51):
These guys aren't coworkers, they are friends, and I hope
the love and camaraderie that we have between us was
obvious to you the listeners. If I get hit by
a cement mixer, I would like you guys to be
my pallbearers, which would be fitting since you've been carrying
my carcass on this show for years. Thank you also
to the past hosts. I sincerely apologize anybody I have missed,
(01:27:14):
but I think I've got them over thirty one years,
John the Commissioner, Hebermeyer, Rob Fifthy, and Rick Kamlo, Bo Mitchell,
Jeff Haydoc Ben Vickers, Christian Peterson, John Tuvey, and even
Colin mccockney. Robbie Rosenhaus has been our engineer for the
past several years. He has kept us on the air.
He's helped us with the absurd collage of animal sounds
that you hear on the show. His dedication has made
(01:27:37):
this show better. I want to thank kfa n's original
station manager, Doug Westerman, who green lit Fantasy Football Weekly
in its earliest roughest form when there was not any
fantasy football radio content in the country in nineteen ninety five.
We were just a who should I start calling show
back then, and Doug put Fantasy Football Weekly on and
(01:28:00):
he kept us on the air.
Speaker 4 (01:28:02):
In our first years.
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Fantasy Football Weekly was a live show in front of
an early arriving Saturday morning audience on site at Mystic
Lake Casino in the Twin Cities, and our bleary eyed,
unpaid intern would arrive at the casino in the morning
to set up our ISDN connection to Kfan and try
to keep us on the air from the casino, which
was a surprisingly tough challenge in the nineties. Over the years,
(01:28:25):
that intern rose through the ranks, got promoted repeatedly, and
eventually turned into objectively the single best station manager in
the country.
Speaker 5 (01:28:36):
And that is Chad Abbot's awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Amazing Chad Abbot has been connected to this show for
all thirty one years. His support, advice promotion of Fantasy
Football Weekly has been invaluable, including helping with our syndication
and eventual migration to the podcast format.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
You know in love.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Thank you so so much, Chad Abbit. I adore you,
but most of all I want to thank you are listeners. Together,
We've had years of laughs, wins, losses, and bowel loosening
levels of existential dread. You've been there for all of it.
(01:29:16):
Your loyalty to Fantasy Football Weekly was the driving force
behind all of our episodes, by my count, eight hundred
and eighteen of them. A final peacock for you. The
listeners of Fantasy Football Weekly.
Speaker 5 (01:29:40):
Oh, I love it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:41):
It's draft time. The excitement is palpable.
Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
We've got our own drafts, our auctions. We're gonna have
so much fun today and over the course of the
next four months. Fantasy Football Weekly like introduced my co
hosts Scott Fish, Matt Harrison and Brian Johnson.
Speaker 4 (01:29:57):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 7 (01:29:59):
Yeah, no, louder come on.
Speaker 5 (01:30:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
They need it. They need it.
Speaker 6 (01:30:02):
We need the attention their self.
Speaker 4 (01:30:05):
This team is very, very low.
Speaker 6 (01:30:06):
They have to work with me.
Speaker 4 (01:30:07):
It's not easy.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
They deserve all the love you can possibly give them.
We are live at Canterbury Park, the Expos Center. This
is about our tenth, eleventh, twelfth year of doing the
Fantasy Football training camp. Every year gets bigger, better, it's
crazier than ever before, and.
Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
We love all the people that come down.
Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
So I was listening to the fabulous nine to noon
show with you and Paul Allen this game, and I
caught you guys talking about biting fish heads off, biting
the heads off fish.
Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
That has happened, That has happened.
Speaker 5 (01:30:36):
I don't like the idea of that. No, that wasn't
about me, was it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:39):
You're not that kept off.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
No, there was no fish biting in that Regardlet's o cover.
Speaker 5 (01:30:44):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
I have been tempted to take a nibble from time
to time.
Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
I'm back in the line.
Speaker 5 (01:30:48):
No biting fish, no biting fish.
Speaker 4 (01:30:51):
Do you think we knew what a peacock sounded like
a year ago?
Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
We had no idea, and.
Speaker 1 (01:30:55):
Yet here we are with a peacock sounder Charles Clay
give him a seat average whoa, this is not distracting
at all.
Speaker 5 (01:31:03):
There's your box.
Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
On the part. I want to get the vaulture sound
Roland for this year.
Speaker 4 (01:31:10):
Fantasy Football Weekly.
Speaker 9 (01:31:12):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
That is a horrifying noise.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
That is a horrifying noise. Weekly returns.
Speaker 6 (01:31:41):
It's called take a chance.
Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
I mean nine players not normally in your starting lineup.
Many of them are available on the waiver wire.
Speaker 5 (01:31:47):
I have Jimmy Garoppolo, I.
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
Got Kenny p Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
I was.
Speaker 7 (01:31:55):
I was not exactly right nine times, nine times?
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
Guys, what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
At what point do we apologize to Mitch Trubisky about
his Thursday night performance? Do we?
Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
We don't have to avow that for anything. Yeah, we
didn't call bad day.
Speaker 7 (01:32:09):
You coming. It sounds like a happy trombone ski right there.
Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
What I what I'm really disappointed in is.
Speaker 3 (01:32:16):
I've got this great, horrible trombone solo and I've only
been able to use it one time because Mitch has
been good.
Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
Come on, Mitch, I bring back this version of Mitch Trubhisky.
Speaker 10 (01:32:40):
Yes, our London correspondence happens to be here in studio
making a visit to the Twin Cities due to unspecified
medical issues required to go to the Mayo Clinic.
Speaker 4 (01:32:52):
Allo Colin mccockney, It's so good to have you back.
Speaker 7 (01:32:57):
It's me I'm calling the winner. Ain't I got a
bag a few apples and pears with them? Strike us
to get y'all sorted for the Fantasy Footy.
Speaker 4 (01:33:06):
Tough Question number four, WHOA, WHOA? Where's Krocky J?
Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
Because, as you probably know, Carson Steele's alligator is named
Krocky J. Now I know if you're Carson Steel and
you've got a pet alligator and out of the blue,
you get an invite to Kansas City's training camp back
last summer. Are you suddenly gonna buy a bunch of
swampland in Missouri for Krocky J?
Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
No, of course, not right So where's Crocky J. That
means he's in his apartment in Kansas City? Is he
in the tub?
Speaker 7 (01:33:41):
Is he in the apartment pool?
Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
Where is Krockey J?
Speaker 7 (01:33:44):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (01:33:45):
Where's Under city ordinance, no one is allowed to keep
our harbor alligators and crocodiles within Kansas City city limits?
So if he's there, could Carson Steel get arrected?
Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
You're harboring an.
Speaker 7 (01:33:58):
Alligator, foggy underwear and a base and a gravy for
Travy Marvel. He's the dog's bollocks, no doubt.
Speaker 11 (01:34:09):
He's saying the bills weakness is the run and Travis
et and gets an A grade in this one, and
then Colin went on to say Buffalo has allowed five
point nine yards per carry on the year, which is
the worst in the entire league.
Speaker 5 (01:34:20):
I am grateful to be on this show and to
have you guys as friends. November twelfth coming, you know
this Sunday is my heart averse. In twenty fourteen, I
had a heart attack and it really changed the way
I look at things, and I feel like I need
to be more grateful for the things I have in
my life because I might not be here and I'm
very very happy to be a part of the show.
Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
Oh that's sweet and we're happy to have you here.
Speaker 3 (01:34:44):
Let's go to the Colts taking on the Patriots in Germany,
and for that we go to our Germany correspondent Dinner.
Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
Welcome back to the show.
Speaker 12 (01:34:54):
Bick Kisa Dinner, Von Forts and Coon House, Frankfort Doesnoy,
growth of Britannian petron Odin and Spielman, Indianatomis fallen An
Hastug boards talk.
Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
I think he just was talking about how Indianapolises is
playing the paper at the Frankfurt Paris Campbell.
Speaker 4 (01:35:13):
Is seeing a surge and usage lately.
Speaker 7 (01:35:15):
That's my guy.
Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
But that was with Matt Ryan.
Speaker 4 (01:35:18):
It's unclear if that's going to be the case with
Sam Ellinger.
Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
We hope.
Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
So he got a he's got a favorable.
Speaker 10 (01:35:22):
Matchup in the slot against mostly untested starting Rashot wild goose.
Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
I love the name wild goose. I'm looking on here.
Speaker 5 (01:35:31):
Well, we've got but we also have the Mond goose.
Speaker 7 (01:35:37):
Oh that's right here now. If it was if it
was Rishot, we got a vulture on there, we got
a peacock, we got several birds, but no waterfowl all
over the place.
Speaker 1 (01:35:49):
I hate geese, like one of my least favorite animals.
Speaker 4 (01:35:52):
They're jerks the.
Speaker 7 (01:35:53):
Worst they are jerks.
Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
They're basically just poop machines for honest about it. They
don't throw to them downfield, which is just killing Deebo.
Samuel's Killed Me, Kill Me. The last three weeks, he
has had an average distance of target
