Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm still got to watch this, the latest season. I
don't know what I'm taking so long.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's great.

Speaker 3 (00:03):
Maybe maybe Adam Feeling's seen it. I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I remember we once told Adam Feeling to watch the
there we.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Once suggested that, right, Adam, I think we did.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
You did. I'm uh, that's on my list. I haven't
got to it yet, but I do need to watch it.

Speaker 5 (00:17):
How many are ahead of it right now? On that
list that it's down there?

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Probably it's probably number two. I actually don't think there's
a number one.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
So, oh yeah, got it. You're busy right now, is
what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Right.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Plus is Halloween, man, im.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Me come home, man, the best time for the kiddos.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Man, And you have you have kids in the right
age range at theam too, right, they must be super
pumped for tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
It's a Friday too, no school tomorrow. It's the best.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Oh yeah, they're extremely pumped. They already, they both are.
All three of my kids have like three different costumes
because they just take all theirs from previous years, you know,
hand me down ones, and they think it's the coolest
thing to dress up every every time day they get
home from So we've already had a lot of dressed
up Halloween, but tonight will be a fun night all

(01:05):
the cousins and we'll get together and go go get
as much candy as possible.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
And do you remember how many years ago was it
you were still with the Vice. It was before you
went to Carolina. Do you remember that season? It was
like two or three or four years ago where every
holiday the Vikes had a game.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
It was like Halloween, Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It was like a nightmare schedule for probably you being
away from the family for all the holidays. But hey,
you don't have to go to Detroit, I assume until Saturday,
so perfect timing tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
It is honestly, the holiday games I actually really enjoy,
except for Halloween, but like Thanksgiving, play on Thanksgiving up
the whole weekend with the family. You actually get more
time with the family on Alidays, which actually works out
pretty good. The same thing with like Christmas. You know,
you play and then you get the weekend off of
it's like a Thursday game. I think we play on
Christmas this year on Thursday and then you get the

(01:54):
whole weekend. It's like it's almost even better. So I
don't mind those games, but Halloween it's tough to it's
tough to miss that night with the kids.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
So last week's game Adam was obviously a tough one.
Nothing went right. So how do you guys bounce back
from that? Is it one that you just throw it
out and say forget it, ever happened and let's focus
on the next week. Or were you guys having to
watch a bunch of film and sort of soak in it. Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:21):
No, I think it's it's probably better to talk about it,
Maybe get a little bit more detailed in the film study,
maybe a little bit more aggressive from the coaches as
far as how they approached, you know, talking about the
film and things like that, and then get just get
back on the grass. I think that's the best thing

(02:42):
you can do as an athlete after a tough performance
individually or a tough performance as a team, is just
get back on the grass, Go bust your butt, go
put your head to the stone, and just figure out
a way to get better individually, and then again just
get back out there on Sunday. At the end of
the day, it's easy to forget about the game. Wants
to get back out there in the next one right
because everyone else forgets about it and it doesn't matter anymore.

(03:05):
So that's what we're excited about. We've had a great
week of practice of just getting after it and doing
everything we can to put our best foot forward against
a really, really good football team. And that's probably another
great thing is it's not like we're just playing a
random team. We're playing a division employment who's kind of
had this division on lock. So we know we got

(03:26):
to bring our best. We know that we had to
prepare with our best effort this week and excited for
that challenge.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Adam, what have you seen from JJ McCarthy behind the
scenes getting ready for this game on Sunday and just
in general as he's been hurt for the last couple
of weeks.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
I think this week just his attitude and just his
attention to detail. It's not just a guy who's just
kind of going through the emotions or just trying to
do his job. It's a guy who's doing it with
an intentionality and an attitude, which is one of the
things that stuck out me when I first met JJ
and was able to throw throw with him in the summers.
It's just his attitude, like it's an infectious kind of

(04:07):
positive but competitive attitude that he brings to his work,
you know, and and how he approaches the game. So
that's what I've seen from him. Excited to see it,
you know, kind of come to Fruition on Sunday and
see what happens. But when when that ball comes spinning
out of his hand, it's it's different. So excited to

(04:28):
see that on game day.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Adam, tell me if any of this is wrong, But
is the playbook different now than it was like five
or six weeks ago for JJ, you know, were those
first two games like a warm up period where they
were trying to get him as comfortable as possible and
now they can open it up or was it opened
up six weeks ago?

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Well, that that usually comes to life on game day,
you know, for us, during the week, it's you're kind
of just practicing all the plays and and kind of
getting the whole game plan together. And then and then
it really depends on how coach wants to call a
game of how aggressive he's gonna be with the play
calling or if he's gonna, you know, keep it more
simple or or just get him kind of going a

(05:06):
little bit. So that that kind of comes to fruition
on on Sunday, But as of right now, it doesn't
seem any different for us. As as far as how
we're kind of preparing for third downs and red zone today,
it's kind of seems very similar to what it's been
all season.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
At any point, did you feel like maybe walking over
to Carson and just giving him a hug.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
No.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Usually in those situations, I give those guys face because
I don't want to talk to anybody man. But I
did hear some moaning and groaning on the sideline that
I just had to go check out and make sure
everything's good.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
I mean, I know you guys play through pain. That's
that's why you make big money. That's part of the mentality.
That's why I sit in this chair and I'm not
doing what you do. Along with the fact that I
run about a nine five forty, But that's an immense
amount of pain on his face and then you hear
about the injuries. I can't believe he played through what
he played through. And I know people have said it
at nauseum this week, but feel free to say it again.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
How tough is that guy?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yeah, he's tough. He's tough and he proved it obviously
the last two weeks, and I think that means a
lot to your teammates. I think when you play it
through stuff like that, you got it out, you try
to do whatever it takes to help your team win.
That that stuff means more than giving a motivational speech, right,
that that stuff really shows how much you care about
the team and not just yourself, because he easily could

(06:25):
have taken himself on a I'm gonna go get surgery,
do my thing and knowing what a blinked, but that
just shows a lot about who he is and and
you know his team mentality. So a lot of appreciation
for him over the last two weeks and and just
getting to know him over you know whatever nine weeks
that that I've been here, so uh, just definitely thankfully
on our team.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
For correct me if I'm wrong again. I don't know
if we've asked you this in the last couple of weeks.
Have you got a good look at either of will
Reikers kicks that have controversially maybe hit a wire or not.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Do you have a take on those wire kicks?

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I believe the first one for sure hit the wire,
even live. I was like that was that something was
weird about that, and then obviously all the clips after.
I'm not sure about the other one, but definitely the
first one interesting.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Okay, that's It's one of the things that we were
stuck on on. Definitely I was stuck on on the
first one. Was that there wasn't more outrage from Rikert himself,
and I would think that he would be the one
that would have seen it hit a wire. But I
just can't believe at him that that the wires are
even on that half of the field and even remotely
near where the ball could go. And maybe that's something

(07:35):
the NFL is going to have to look into.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Yeah, supposedly, I think they've had another issue with it.
And maybe maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm just making this up,
but I feel like they've had another issue in the
past and the international games with it. So maybe it's
something different with who's operating it, maybe not as much
experience with operating that, but I don't think there's been
really any issues in any game other than the international game.

(08:01):
So yeah, like you said, I I really don't get it,
well how it could even be close, especially on a
field goal, right, But but yeah, it definitely looked like
I hit it.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
That makes sense, all right, man. Best of luck on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Get out there and hopefully JJ slings it get in
the end zone a couple of times.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Man, good luck against the Lions. We'll talk to you
next week, buddy.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
So yep.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
