Good morning, Packer Fans, and welcome to the week twelve
edition of Packer Preview on the home of the Vikings Kfan, iHeartRadio.
Great to be with you. It's Border Battles Sunday. Are
you awake yet? We're five hours from kickoff the Vikings
coming to town. The four and six Vikings against the six,
three and one.

As we get set to start the crucial part of
the Packers' schedule, three division games over the next fifteen days,
a stretch that will clearly define this Packer season. We
will break down this matchup over the next hour. Gets
you set for this one. Of course, plenty of coverage
throughout the day on the fan. After this hour, it'll

take more of a purple tinge with sermons at nine
in the Vikings pregame at ten and the kickoff on
this station at noon today. All right, here we go.
Vikings swept the pack last year. Vikings have won the
last two times they have made the trip to lambeau Field,
but they come in a very different unit.

The JJ McCarthy experience rolls on for what the fifth
or sixth start of his career, and that's the big talker.
Can he do what he's done this season, and that
is play his best when he plays.

Road division games? Right?

He opens the season with the fourth quarter come back
in Chicago. He goes to Detroit a few weeks ago
and somehow lifts the team to a surprise win over
the Lions. Everything else has been rather ugly, but he's
played his best ball on the road in the division.
Let's hope that ends today where the Packers are ready
for him. We hope as the Packers are ready for

just their second division game of the season. We're the
only team in the NFL that's played just one division
game so far. They're all backed up now. Vikings and
Lions and Bears, oh my, over the next fifteen days.
We'll also touch on the Lions game just a little
bit this morning, because obviously they'll play on Thanksgiving Day
and we sit down here a week from today, it'll

be Packer Review and we'll look back at these two
division games and maybe just take stock of where the
packs sit heading to the final quarter of the season.

Before slightly nervous, I'd say, only just because you see
when the flashes you see of J. J. McCarthy and
nine is in the biggest moments against the division on
the road. He looks great at the end tail end
of the Chicago game week one, and he looked great
for the majority of the game against Detroit, who we
thought was this great, vaunted team. Turns out they're struggling

a lot, but still an impressive win. Nonetheless, I just
really hope that that's not the case. But I also
think that Kevin O'Connell can just run, run, run, and
ball control because that's been the recipe for success against
green Bay, and they have the talent to do it
with Jones and Mason. That would be my biggest concern
if I'm met with Floor, I want the ball and
I want it to start the game.

Agreed.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
The recipe is to take the lead on the Vikings,
take them out of the idea that they can just
run the ball, because, let's be honest, the teams that
have had success against green Bay the quote unquote maybe
lesser about teams the teams that aren't the elite teams,
the Cardinals, the Panthers, the Giants. They all ran the
ball down the Packer's throat, controlled the clock. Last week,
the Giants had the ball for thirty six minutes. Tyron
(04:03):
Tracy had one hundred yards. I mean, the Packers run
defense must be better. Because if Kevin O'Connell smart we
all believe he is, he will rely on the run today.
It might go against what he likes, but I think
he knows what he's got with his quarterback and the
limitations right now, and the recipe to stay in a
game against green Bay is to run the football. So
we'll talk a lot about that. Green Bay will not
have one of its best run stoppers kway Walker doubtful today.

We'll go through the injury stuff in a second. Just
want to quickly look back at the Giants game that
ended the two games slide to losses at lambeau Field.
It wasn't pretty right. I mean, we were sweating until
the end as we figured we would be. The drops
throughout the day, the missed pats, the dropped interceptions, there
was just so much going wrong. Love goes to the
locker room in the first quarter, incomes Maleik, and Malik

leads the team down the field for their first score
of the day and saves the day again. Jacobs goes
down early. It just had the feeling early in the
game like this might not be the Packers day. Hey
and trailing twenty nineteen final what five minutes maybe the
play of the season so far, Brad, would you say
the third and ten to saveon Williams, where plays breaking down,

Loves saying go deep, I'm just gonna throw it up there,
and of all people, saveon Williams, who was in a
walking boot just a few hours before kickoff last Sunday,
makes the biggest catch maybe of the season to keep
that drive alive that obviously ended with the Watson touchdown.

I almost liked the Watson touchdown throw a little better
because that's in I think double or triple coverage.

Watson with a great catch and was Moss like, don't

I mean he could plays like that. You can start calling
yourself nine. He might have more of a stake to
it right now than JJ.

Love was led another yet another drive late in the game,
down a score, down a point in this situation and
made clutch throws to I mean, it happens every week,
It happens all the time, but no, the box score
watchers will tell you something else has happened. Thank God
that we actually watch again.

That was the fourth and fourth quarter comeback for Jordan
Love all on the road this season, three ending up
and wins, one ending up in the tie against Dallas.
So yes, he has been about his clutch, even though
PA doesn't like to believe. We have a clutch quarterback
because he threw a pick in San Francisco in the
playoffs two years ago.

He is delivering week in and week.

Out in clutch time, and these stats back that up,
and we all know we are about to get the
best from Jordan Love. It's starting to come because it's

given out trading cards this year with little pieces of
Jordan Love Toyota jerseys on them. Yeah, I don't know

so I don't know how the dealers decide which customers

and I'm sure you do, Love's splits before Toyota Than

injuries first mentioned. Kay Walker doubtful today. I don't think

he plays. Nate Hobbs will miss another game. Jayden Reed
has been activated off IR. He started practicing very nice development.
As we look for anybody with some yack ability in
that receiving cor to replaced Tucker Kraft. We won't get
read today. I don't think we'll see him Thursday. I
think that would be a long shot. I think we'd
all love to see him two weeks from the day
when the Bears come to lambeau Field and add that

little element to the offense. So no Jayden Reed just yet.
Three other receivers questionable. That seems to be a running
theme the last few weeks. Matthew Golden, don tevi On Wicks,
Savion Williams all come in as questionable. I think they're
all trending to play, but they all are dealing with
little aches and bruises. Carl Brooks also questionable, as is

Lucas van Ness. I do think he makes his return
after missing the last four games and hopefully gives that
pass rush a bit of a boost. They could certainly
use it. We will get to that story as well.
And then the biggest injury, I say the biggest one
for last Josh Jacobs dealing with the knee contusion.

Look, I feared the worst.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
He's a warrior, he never misses games, but when he
didn't come back, I just I hope it's not long term,
you know, we're hitting to the stretch run. The fact
that he's practicing potentially playing today, it's gonna be a
true game time decision. They're gonna work him out, he's
gonna practice, he's gonna get out on that field, test
the leg, and they're making a decision at the last minute.

Obviously goes without saying Green Bay's chances against anybody go
up exponentially if number eight is on the field.

Would love to have him against the Purple today. He's
a dog.

He's got the you know, the hockey player mentality of
if I can go out there, I'm gonna play. And
he kind of threw the MetLife Field under the bus
as well for the injury, which fair enough. Yeah, but
it's we've seen what happens when you rush a guy
back from an knee injury at home against the Vikings.
It typically doesn't go well. And I get, you know,

it's not the quarterback, but also the old line hasn't
really been run blocking all season very well.

So I hope that he plays.

I hope that he can play, but I wouldn't want
to push it just because with the O line blocking
as well or as lack thereof as they have this season.
I don't know if it'd make much of a difference,
but it is Josh Jacobs. He has another dimension of
the offense.

You know, as fans we think of things like this.
I don't know if the coaching staff does.

But the fact that you've got a huge road test
in Detroit four days from today, does that factor into
what you decide to do with Josh Jacobs today. You
can't take today for granted. You lose this game and
you're six' four and one to go To. Detroit if
you Lose, thursday suddenly you're six five and one and
you're on the outside looking. In so you can't just, say,
well we've probably got enough to beat The. Vikings they're

not very good and there's seasons flushing down the. Drain
we can Hold jacobs out today and save them For.
Thursday as a, fan me wants to think that we
could probably do, that but you got to get the
w today and if he is able to, Go i'm
sure the coaches, say, well we'll watch your, reps but
get out there and.

packers try to keep pace in THE nfc playoff. Picture

matchup of The packers offense Against Brian flores. Defense and

AS i, said the got the last left the last
couple of games of the two games last, year both
just two point, games but clearly didn't feel that. Way
packers were down on twenty eight to nothing At lambeau last,
year got that muff punt at the end of the.
Half they gave him a little momentum and Then flores
backed off the blitz And love lit him up in
the second half and brought the pack almost all the way.

Course the game at Us Bank stadium didn't really feel
like The packers really river in that though it was
a close. One flores is obviously as crafty as it
comes when it comes to confusing offenses and doing what he.

tough on offenses to figure out what they're doing and
kind of get a beat on what they're thrown at.

different you, know, pressures things like.

throughout the week.

A good amount and understand that there will be some
wrinkles in there and you never really know what to

Offense one of those fundamentals That i'd like to see
them stick to is catching the. Football that would be
a nice change of. Pace that was hard to watch last.

a couple where he was looking at his hands, afterwards like,
wait what like This this has to not be a
thing like.

Talker we understand this is not the most talented productive receiving.
Core we think there's a lot of talent that's getting
young and getting better and you go through growing, pains
but we can't See Romeo, Dobbs Dontavian, Wicks Christian watson dropping.
Balls not that the competition is being amped up the
rest of the. Season none of these games are easy
the last seven of the. Season And dobbs in, particular

we've relied on him this. Year he has been the
go to. Guy watson's quickly, USURPING i would say. Him
but they have to Help Jordan love out.

Today, YEAH i think eleven incompletions AND i think seven
of them were traps last. Week so imagine that box
score If Jordan, love if they would have caught even

Talk about two guys in, particular starting With Christian, watson
who was spectacular last week with the two touchdown. Catches
both were fifty to fifty balls where you know he
needed his hands to those strong hands to make the
catch going, downfield making big plays when he's, healthy when
he's one hundred. Percent you see the potential there that
this is a guy to me that he could be

looked at as a top ten receiver in this.

League he's got.

Everything he's got the speed of that anyway as fast
as anybody out. There he's six,' four, he's strong, he
blocks he, does everything and he is quickly becoming the
go to guy in. THIS offense i think we'd all
like To See matthew golden start to work himself.

Is funny when he Was at texas, last year you
didn't really Hear About matthew golden until about, This time
like the Last few texas games is when he exploded.
On scene maybe that's. His thing maybe now he'll start
to become a bigger part of. THIS offense I just

more i know he's dealing with some nicks and Bruises
and he's not the, biggest guy but the speed is just.

weakness of that, defense man just take. Some chances this
is the game Where the vikings give up explosive plays

is not going to make me. Banish HIM but i
think it was instructive to see the coaches didn't have

take more of a purple tinge with sermons at nine
in the Vikings pregame at ten and the kickoff on
this station at noon today. All right, here we go.
Vikings swept the pack last year. Vikings have won the
last two times they have made the trip to lambeau Field,
but they come in a very different unit.

The JJ McCarthy experience rolls on for what the fifth
or sixth start of his career, and that's the big talker.

Before slightly nervous, I'd say, only just because you see
when the flashes you see of J. J. McCarthy and
nine is in the biggest moments against the division on
the road. He looks great at the end tail end
of the Chicago game week one, and he looked great
for the majority of the game against Detroit, who we
thought was this great, vaunted team. Turns out they're struggling

a lot, but still an impressive win. Nonetheless, I just
really hope that that's not the case. But I also
think that Kevin O'Connell can just run, run, run, and
ball control because that's been the recipe for success against
green Bay, and they have the talent to do it
with Jones and Mason. That would be my biggest concern
if I'm met with Floor, I want the ball and
I want it to start the game.

The recipe is to take the lead on the Vikings,
take them out of the idea that they can just
run the ball, because, let's be honest, the teams that
have had success against green Bay the quote unquote maybe
lesser about teams the teams that aren't the elite teams,
the Cardinals, the Panthers, the Giants. They all ran the
ball down the Packer's throat, controlled the clock. Last week,
the Giants had the ball for thirty six minutes. Tyron

Tracy had one hundred yards. I mean, the Packers run
defense must be better. Because if Kevin O'Connell smart we
all believe he is, he will rely on the run today.
It might go against what he likes, but I think
he knows what he's got with his quarterback and the
limitations right now, and the recipe to stay in a
game against green Bay is to run the football. So
we'll talk a lot about that. Green Bay will not
