Welcome to year thirty of Packer Preview on the Fan,
now live from the KFA and studios the head cheese himself,
Dave Sinnagon.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
Good morning, Packer fans, and welcome to a Thanksgiving weekend
review edition of Packer Preview on the Sports Leader and
the home of the Vikings KFA and Radio. I hope
you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
One am I?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Who am I kidding?

Speaker 6 (00:58):
I know you did after that scintillating performance in Motown.
Great to be with you this morning. I am Dave Sinekin,
joined by my partner Brett Blakemore. A nice job as always,
mister executive producer on the two game NFC North winning
montage this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
There were so many highlights.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
I mean, the first edition of the montage was like
six minutes long. I had to edit down touchdowns, I
had to edit down great plays. That's how great of
a weekend. It was not a bad problem to have,
is now it's pretty good.

Speaker 6 (01:27):
We sat here a week ago knowing we were heading
into the meat of the Packers schedule with three consecutive
division games, and knowing that at worst this team could
go no worse than two and one. May as well
make it the sweep with the Bears remaining next Sunday. Right,
one weekend has been. We'll spend this hour looking back
at both games, because I'm not willing to forget about

(01:48):
the demolition of JJ McCarthy and the Vikings a week ago,
even though we've seen a more competitive, maybe more important
game more recently. We'll get into both of those games
during this hour. We welcome your calls on this Packer
Review edition. That's what we do. I'm gonna remember the
number now, eight hundred three two zero. Oh my good,

(02:09):
thank you. That's been that long. It's been that long.
I'm sitting here for thirty years. It's been that long.

Speaker 7 (02:13):
Though.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
We haven't taken calls for a while. Five three two six.
If you care to, we'd love to hear from. You
can also text us to the brad Shaw on Brian
Cafe and text line.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Six four six eight six.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
Your Packers sit here this morning as actually prohibitive favorites
to win the NFC North, even though they are sitting
and looking up up at the Chicago Bears. More on
that later, Packers minus one forty to win the North.
The Bears are plus one sixty as we head into
week fourteen. More importantly, when the season started, job number

(02:45):
one was to perform much better in the division after
a very disappointing one in five performance a year ago,
and even the one was kind of shaky. Packers halfway
through our three and zero in the NFC North. They
are three and one season against teams with winning records.
That's the best percentage in the NFL, tied with the
La Rams who are six and two. And I'm not

(03:07):
burying the lead. How great was Jordan Love on Thursday?
He owns Thanksgiving Day. He is now the first Packer
quarterback with three Thanksgiving wins since nineteen fifty And as
we sit here, as Week thirteen is about to continue
through the rest of the NFL, the Packers have the
tie for the third best odds to win the Super Bowl,

(03:29):
tied with Indy and trailing only LA and Philadelphia, but
believe it or not, still second to win the Super Bowl.
All right, mister Blake, poorl. Let's go back to last Sunday.
Let's start with the game against the Minnesota Vikings, a
twenty three to six victory. That was the game. Of course,
no Josh Jacobs. Emmanuel Wilson steps up with thirty touches
and one hundred and twenty five yards other big developments

(03:52):
in that game. We kind of saw a changing of
the guard upfront. A rookie Andrew Belton comes into the
second series replaces Jordan Morgan at right guard. He hasn't
left the spot since he played the rest of the
game against Minnesota. Started for the first time against Detroit.
Wasn't a great performance, gave up six pressures, but he
is now the new right guard and clearly that reconfigured

(04:13):
offensive line was really good against the Minnesota Vikings. The
Packers were able to run the football. Metlafleur was kind
of in his bag. I know a lot of Packer
fans were disappointed, but with the play calling against the Vikings.
Thought it was two conservatives. He called forty two rushing
plays out of the sixty five snaps. He had a
sixth extra offensive lineman Darien Knard on twenty one of

(04:35):
the snaps. And you know, look, I said afterward, I
was just fine with that.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Look.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
The Vikings had no resistance. Love came in with a
sore left shoulder. You're down a number of starters in
your offense, and as I said, the Vikings couldn't stop
the run, so why not just take care of business.
It was clear on this day that the defense was
going to absolutely dominate the Minnesota offense. I finished that
game last sight Brett, and I thought to myself, I

(05:02):
can't remember really a more enjoyable half of football that
I've watched. In the second half of that Viking game.
When you hold a professional football team to four yards
four yards of offense and a half of football, not
just any team, your rival, the one that's been barking
at you about their fourteen win season and about their
young quarterback and about now they can be the new
forty nine ers because they can build an expensive roster

(05:24):
around a rookie contract.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
And look what they can do now.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
And what they did now is manage four yards of
offense in the second half and allow the Packers defense
to be on the field for just forty four plays,
and that I think does play into how well they
played Thursday, being the much more arrested team against Detroit
who is coming off an overtime game. So just a
magnificent performance by the defense. Three takeaways. That was the

(05:50):
first multiple takeaway game of the season. No kay Walker,
here comes Isaiah McDuffie to earn a game ball with
nine tackles, a sack, a pick, a couple of third
down stops. Even Warren Brinson, the rarely used Day three
rookie lineman or defensive lineman out of Georgia, comes in
for fifteen snaps and gets five pressures and shows that
maybe he can step in and actually he might be

(06:12):
needed after what happened Thursday, did Devonte Wyatt More on
that later, but just exactly what you had hoped to
see against the Minnesota Vikings. It was the defense that
stood up put the Vikings away, and again, Serve noticed
that when Micah Parsons and company are on their game,
they can beat anybody.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Well, as your son said, well don't worry, we have
the best left tackle in football. That's another arrow that's
been slung our way as well, we've got don't care
if you have Michaeh Parsons. We've got Darrisaw and Dearrisaw
is world class. He just didn't look like it last
Sunday because Michaeh Parsons ran around him, like Pa said,
like he was tied to a post. It's just a
weird change of pace for us because it's we know

(06:54):
the offense is going to be great. Let's just hope
we don't give up twenty eight points. That's been my
entire life as a packer. Yeah, it is not that
way anymore. And the floor didn't have to do anything
against the Vikings. He just had to run the ball
and move the chains and not do anything stupid because
he knew the defense was going to hold up and
make some big stops.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
And we forget. You know, it's ten six at half.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
After Ryker hits that fifty nine yard field man, that
guy's gotta less good.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
You know, it's ten to six.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
Packers get the ball, they get one first down, they
punt the ball, and you know, we're all a little nervous.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Really it's ten to six. Vikings get the ball.

Speaker 6 (07:27):
Let's just let's be careful here, McCarthy has shown somehow
when he goes on the road in division games, he
seems to play his best. So I was, like many
of you, probably still a little concerned. At ten six.
Then we all know what happens to play. The game
turned on the punt that was muffed by Miles Price.
Let's give Zane Anderson his flowers there. He earned a
game ball as well for doing what he was taught

(07:50):
to do. Once a returner turns to block the guy
so that the ball can maybe go into the end zone,
he's now eligible to be hit. Anderson hits him, he
goes into the football, and Anderson lands on the football. Was
just a great play. It turned the game, and it
gets lost in the dominance of the second half. That
play doesn't happen. Look, they may have gone three and

(08:10):
out kicked the ball back to the pack, but it
was a turnover. Two plays later, Wilson's in the end zone.
Now it's seventeen six, and we all say, all right,
good luck score a seventeen today. JJ McCarthy, Right, that was.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
The big exhale moment of just like if there was
any doubt, if there was any tension, I think you
had the line with Pa could have been the dagger
call right there if Wayne wanted to.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
So it was just it was delicious.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
What I'd like to see Love throw against the Vikings
defense for four touchdowns like eatons the Lions. Yes, but
Lafleur paid back the conservativeness with a bunch of aggressiveness
on Thursday.

Speaker 8 (08:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
And I thought after the game and hearing a lot
of the complaints from Packer fans about.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Man, why aren't we throwing more? Why an't we?

Speaker 6 (08:52):
I thought to myself, I won't at all be surprised
if we haven't seen an entirely different game script from
Matt Lafleur on Thursday. It's going to need to be
a Jordan Love game on Thursday. You're not going to
see forty two rushing attempts against the Detroit Lions. And
sure enough, that's exactly what we got on Thursday. We'll
pause here, we'll come back and look at the just fantastic, enjoyable,

(09:14):
and yes, on Thanksgiving Day, delicious victory against the Motor
City Kitty put kitties, putting them out of their misery
on Turkey Day.

Speaker 9 (09:22):
Well, I'm proud to be a Packer fan for best football.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Fans, and all the land got a Packer fans, and
it's a Packer fan. I Will. There's a town in Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (09:45):
It's not quite as big as Away. We had something
we're gonna see, so.

Speaker 10 (10:01):
We pay Packers Google.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
We're back.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
It's Packer Preview Review edition on this Thanksgiving weekend on
kfa N Dave sinikin along with Brett Blake Moore as
we look back at the two division wins over this
past week. Packer's sitting now at eight three and one
and five games left, two of them against the hated
Chicago Bears, the first one up next at lambeau Field
at three twenty five. Obviously we'll preview that game next Sunday,

(10:40):
but we'll have some thoughts before we are done. Also
want to remind you this is our last seven o'clock
kickoff for the rest of the season. Que the applause.
Now the Gophers football season is over. We will reclaim
the eight a m. Time slot. Thank you, thank you
very much. I know I will enjoy the extra hour
of sleep. Brett Will and all of you should as well,

(11:00):
beginning next Sunday and through the rest of the season.
As long as the Packers are playing Packer previewel air
at eight am on Sunday mornings. There might be a
game or two on Saturday down the stretch as well.
I think the rematch against the Bears is on a Saturday.
I think the Ravens game could be on a Saturday.
So we may have a couple more review editions, a
couple more opportunities for Brett blakemore montages. If you woke

(11:23):
up a bit late and miss the opening montage, I
will tweet it out a bit later this morning, so
just check me out at TC had Cheese on Twitter
and you'll be able to listen to it. It was spectacular,
as were the two Packer victories this week. Let's go
back to Thanksgiving Day. There is no better way to
begin a Thanksgiving Day than to beat the Detroit Lions.

(11:44):
It just makes everything taste better, even the maybe the
most hated thing, you know, the one thing you always
avoid on the plate. For me, it was the califlower
grotten on our dinner table. I took a spoonful. I said,
you know what, everything's gonna taste good. It wasn't bad,
it wasn't. Everything tastes better after a Packer's victory. Thirty one,
twenty four, the Packers and Matt Lafleur beat Dan Campbell

(12:07):
at their own game. That's the headline. You look at
the stats, they were virtually identical. Plays run, total yards,
yards passing. Everything was virtually equal. Neither team committed a turnover,
neither team have penalties were the same. Everything was equal
except fourth down conversions, the staple of the Dan Campbell offense.
They went zero for two, Packers go three for three.

(12:30):
And they were all so impactful, right. I mean that
first fourth down, the touchdown to Wicks, where I gotta
be honest, I watched it a few times. I thought
they were going to call it in complete because maybe
his hand comes off the ball just a touch after
that foots very happy they allowed that to stand. And
what a play call from Matt Lafleor on a fourth

(12:51):
down to take a shot of the end zone. Want
to throw from Love and want to catch from dontavi
On Wicks, who we've been waiting and waiting and waiting
to see if he might just break through, but the injuries,
the drops. Maybe this was the breakthrough moment for Dontavian Wicks,
who had six catches ninety four yards a couple of
touchdowns and the dagger catch on fourth down. Obviously, the

(13:15):
headlines Jordan Love with the four touchdown passes, the three
big fourth down conversions, took zero sacks, had zero turnovers
toyota than season in play as Jordan Love was absolutely
spectacular from start to finish, delivering key passes whenever the
team needed it most. Christian Watson making big plays as

(13:35):
he has done since he's come back, And maybe the
biggest bit was, so the lines lose i'm on Rossaint
Brown early. That's obviously a huge huge loss for their
offense or early dealing with the loss of Sam Laporta
for the season, and then i'm on Rossaint Brown goes down,
so it makes the cornerbacks jobs a bit easier.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Obviously, Jamison Williams had his way.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
Cornerbacks didn't have a great day, but they contained the
most electric football player in the NFL and Jamiir Gibbs,
who for some reason does not look like Jamiir Gibbs
when he plays against the Green Bay Packers, has held
at eighty six yards for the day on twenty three touches,
both running and receiving. The two games against the pack
Jamir Gibbs is averaging three yards of carry against the

(14:18):
rest of the league. It's six point four against the Pack.
As a receiver, three point eight yards of care a
catch against the rest of the league nine point two.
That's the story. You contain Jamir Gibbs. You don't let
him wreck that game, and you can walk away from
Detroit the Ford field of they thirty one twenty four victory.

(14:39):
So let's start with the offense. Brett number ten was
in his bag on Thanksgiving Day. He got his turkey
leg after being snubbed two years ago. That's what we
had hoped to see in our dreams. Maybe the night
before we could envision Jordan Love, Micah Parsons, maybe another
star or two munching on turkey legs.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
At least I did, and that's exactly what we saw.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
How about a one twenty four point two rating, four touchdowns,
no picks, seven point eight average.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
It this is what we wanted to see.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
This is what I was kind of pining for after
the Vikings game, which I was still happy with because
they won the game, and that's the four's main job
is to win football games, regardless of how you do it.
But man, was he just he let Jordan Love go
and it was all Man and you know, it took
receivers and Wix a huge performance and Watson with a
great performance. But Love was just in his bag and

(15:28):
none of it happens if he's not on his game,
and he absolutely was. And about a'mn raw, I get
a lot of the coping Lion stands, well, we lost
him on Rod, we lost this guy. It's like we've
had red Craft, you know. I mean, you go down
the list, Golden Golden was out as well, so I mean.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
I mean they're not I'm on Rusty Brown's about ourself.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
That's fair, but injuries or injuries, and Reid was probably,
you know, one of, if not the number one guy
for the past couple of years. So everyone's got injuries,
so I wouldn't put that in. But Love was just unbelievable.
And that's the game. That's a game I'll be watching
come August when I'm pining for football.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
I feel you.

Speaker 6 (16:08):
Obviously, the Pack had a huge break early when they
were given the timeout right in the red zone inside
the five yard line fourth and fourth down, and Anthony
Beldon clearly moves and Laflour clearly asks for the time
out after Anthony Belton moves. I can't believe they warred
the time out to Lafloor. It boggles my mind. If
I was a Lions fan, I'd be absolutely going crazy.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I get it.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
That was a gift, a gift that all award of
the Pack four points, really, because if they don't, if
they get that penalty, they're going to kick the field
goal and then it becomes a twenty seven to twenty
four game. And that's the exact score that I predicted
going in twenty seven twenty four Pack. So I'm a
bit bitter that the officials allowed the Pack to not kidding, Yes,
they caught a break. Did they catch a break? When

(16:51):
Christian Watson was mauled, his hand basically taken away from him,
a key third down conversion that went in completed, No
PI was called. No, they should have gotten that call.
Some might say Watson pushed off a bit on his
long touchdown catch. I didn't think it was enough for
a call, but I can see how you might be bothered.
There were a couple of calls that went the packsway,
maybe one or two that went against him. It wasn't

(17:12):
the story of the game, but that early allowing Laflorida
call the time out was just crazy. I just I
can't believe they allowed that to happen. Meanwhile, on the
defensive side, once again Isaiah McDuffie in for Kuay Walker.
I was really concerned not having Quay against this quick
team on this quick surface because McDuffie, while you know,

(17:35):
a good run stuffer, is not great in space, but
he was great twelve tackles.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Did his job.

Speaker 6 (17:40):
I think the unsung star was Evan Williams, who was
always around the ball and earned the top Special.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Teams grade for this team.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Williams is sneaky, you know, getting into that Pro Bowl conversation,
he is becoming all everything safety for this team. You
just see him around the ball all the time, and
he made some big stops on Jamier Gibbs. He was
one of the guys that really did the job on
the electric young running back for the Detroit Lions. Of course,
the star was Micaeh Parsons and you heard the highlights

(18:09):
from Brett when he put the montage together. He just
saves his big plays for the biggest moments, right. So
it's a third down to turn the ball over on downs,
or it's a sack or a strip sack, whatever it
might be. He saves his big plays for the great moments,
historic start to his career. He now has twelve and
a half sacks through these what twelve games, and he's

(18:31):
number one of the league in pressures. By the way,
he's the first player in NFL history since they started
recording sacks, which was in the early eighties, So not
everybody like the old Deacon Jones might have surpassed this.
But for you old timers, you know who Deacon Jones is.
Brett's going who who? He's the first player in NFL
history to start his career with at least twelve sacks

(18:53):
in each of his first five seasons, and with five
games to go and a couple against the Bears, I
think we'll see those numbers continue to climb. Just want
to step back and remind everybody when the draft season's
happening next April in May and you're sort of going, god,
this is no fun. We had no pick until very late,
perhaps in the second round. Just don't lose sight of

(19:16):
what number one means to this football team and how
fun it is to watch him ply his craft. He's
one of two. It's Miles Garrett and Micah Parsons. And
you know, did Agent Hutchinson play Thursday? I think he
was out there, but Zach Tom did a great job
making Aiden Hutchinson invisible. When you've got a game wrecker
on defense like Micaeh Parsons, not only you know changes

(19:39):
what your defense can be game to game, big picture,
looking at the big games down the stretch, knowing this
guy as your closer, I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
To see what he's got in store in December.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
You want to talk about miss calls and you know
breaks going our way, you can when you have Micah
Parsons on your team, you can add about nine to
ten breaks that didn't go your way. Of all the
holdings in illegal hands to the face takes to block
this guy, he is just He was worth every pick,
worth every penny. The guy is just a game wrecker.
And I can't imagine the defense and where we'd be

(20:11):
without him, because it has definitely changed a game.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
Let's go through a few of the negatives from Thanksgiving
DA because there were a few, and I don't want
to just say, wow, we beat the Lions, we won
three in a row. We're the greatest team ever. Losing
DeVante Wyatt's devastating for this defense. It's no coincidence that
this team has won three straight. It's not just DeVante Whye,
but the defense looks different when ninety five is on
the field, and they have been different since he came

(20:34):
back from the injury. If you heard Micah Parsons after
the game, he was devastated. He knew and we didn't
know at the time he was carted off the field.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
We knew it wasn't good.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
We didn't know at the time that he had fractured
his ankle and he was officially lost for the season.
But Parsons, he knew what a loss this is for
the run defense and the defense as a whole. You know,
he had two sacks against the Vikings and so feel
terrible for that young man. I really feel bad for
the defense because it's not going to be the same
and it's going to now mean that Kyle Brooks, who

(21:05):
has missed the last couple of games and is probably
back next Sunday, he is going to have to step
in along with Kolby Wooden Warren Brinson, one of the
Nazier Stackhouse, got a few snaps on Thursday. You're gonna
have to rely on one of these young guys or
maybe a couple of them, to step up and try
to be something close, certainly not going to be Devonte Wyatt,
but something close to what Whytt gave them. Could the

(21:27):
pack look outside the building to add a body, of course,
whether it's a practice squad player from someone else, or
rolling the dice and saying, you know, Christian Wilkins was
a really good player, and he got cut earlier this season.
He's just sitting out there. Let's bring him in and
see if he wants to play and if he's healthy,
because he he's got some Pro bowls under his belt.
And so I don't know if they'll do anything like that,

(21:47):
or more likely they just look for one of the
young guys to step up and try to do somewhat
what Devonte Wyatt did. Other things I didn't love about
Thursday mentioned earlier. Andrew Belton gets the start at right guard.
Look really good against the Vikes. It wasn't as good
against the Lions. He gave up six pressures in that game.
Nobody else on the line gave up more than two.

(22:08):
Early in the game. I thought that Jared Goff had
way too much time. He was in the pocket and comfortable.
It got better as the game went on, but I
was a little concerned about the pass rush if I
felt he was a bit too comfortable in the pocket
for much of that game. I didn't love the fact
that we remember the Robo Dobbs fumble in the red zone.
You forget about that. If Rashid Walker doesn't land on

(22:31):
that ball, that's seven points. That changes the momentum. Those
little plays. Dobbs has to be much more careful in
traffic like that. The two cornerbacks Valentine and Nixon did
not great out well after this game at all. We
saw the Valentine miss on the Jamison Williams tack where
he throws a shoulder at him. He just bounces off
him and waltzes into the end zone. They allowed Williams

(22:53):
to have a career day seven catches for one forty four.
He was really the only downfield weapon and God looked
for him early and often, but the Pack didn't do
a great job on him. And then Brandon McManus first
three kickoffs are in the end zone and you're putting
the Lions on the thirty five.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
I mean, the.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Rules are the rules.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
You have one job, will you have a couple jobs
to do. You got to put the ball between the
uprights when you're asked to, but then you're also asked
to just kick the ball somewhere between like the ten
and the goal line, just in that ten yard little window.
Just just put them there and make them run it
out and let your guys try to tackle him. Well
before the thirty five, that shortened feel for the Lions
first three times, could have really opened up the door

(23:33):
for them, But kudos to the Packers defense. They didn't
allow that to happen. So now there were some negatives,
but obviously the positives far outweighed them. Packers first sweep
over the Detroit Lions in five seasons, their division hopes
are dead, and the exciting news they had earlier in
the week that they're all pro chan Hassen native center

(23:56):
Frank Ragnow had chosen to come out of retirement to
rescue the interior of the offensive line and become the
center again. Unfortunately for him, he failed as physical on Friday.
He had a hamstring injury that I guess he didn't
realize he had, so he fails as physical, he will
not be returning to the Lions. All things aside, I

(24:16):
feel bad for him. I would love to have seen
him if that's what he wanted to do, get back
on the field and try to help his team. That
will not happen, so that little bit of shot of
adrenaline goes the other way. The Lions at seven and five,
with a game at the Rams coming up in a
couple of weeks. They got to go to Chicago. Still,
it looks like their reign is over and it's a
two team race in the NFC North. Who would have

(24:37):
thought right last year the Lions and Vikings combined for
twenty nine regular season wins. They could both be on
the outside looking in in the postseason. It's the Bears
and Packers who will fight for the NFC North with
five games to go. When we come back take calls,
we'll talk more about where this team is right now
with December looming and five games left, and of course

(24:58):
we'll take an early look at the BI showdown at
Lambeau next Sunday.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Tell all the people across the USA, I love my
Green Babe, who won the first Propose ever played.

Speaker 11 (25:15):
I love my Green Babe.

Speaker 7 (25:32):
Le energy to me today, really history to say less.

Speaker 12 (26:08):
Party shotgun three receiving options to the left out, consenting motion.

Speaker 8 (26:12):
To the right.

Speaker 12 (26:13):
Money, Josh Oliver, We're gonna think a toss right. The
party is a tack from behind by Michael Parsons who
ran around Christian Darisol like he was tied to a post.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yes, oh yeah, let's go. Packers have won three straight.

Speaker 6 (26:30):
They take care of the Vikings and Lions the last week,
and they're sitting at eight three and one, just a
tick behind the Chicago Bears, who for my money, registered
the most surprising performance maybe of the NFL season on
Friday with what they did to the Philadelphia Eagles, not
just beating the Eagles, but dominating the Eagles up front
on both sides of the ball. You run for two

(26:51):
hundred and eighty yards against that front seven. You have
my attention. I don't like the Bears, but you have
my attention, and I will be very interested to see
how the Packers' defense, run defense handles what suddenly become
a dominant Bears running attack and that offensive line which
they spent money on. I think much more intelligently, I guess,

(27:13):
or at least with much better effect than the Vikings did.
Both of those teams made it a priority to boost
up their offensive line and find veteran talent. The guys
for the Bears, led by Joe Tooney, they have figured
things out. That offense is humming right now. The Bears
have won nine of ten we at all. At least
I had said, well, yeah, they've won five in a row,

(27:35):
but look at the quarterbacks. They've beaten a bunch of
backups and lousy quarterbacks. Get back to me, when you
beat a quarterback, not only beat a quarterback. And they
went into Philly on Black Friday, and Philly had come
off a loss to Dallas where they had gotten off
to a twenty one nothing start and blew the game.
They were angry, they were ornery, they were ready to
take down the Bears, and the Bears were having none

(27:56):
of it. So, as I hate to say it, the
monsters of the mid Way earned my respect on Friday,
and we get them twice in the next three weeks.
And that's the interesting quirk to the schedule we noticed
when the schedule came out. Didn't know that Chicago would
be nine and three. Well, when for teams would meet
for the first time. I don't think anybody did outside
of the city of Chicago, but we'll have to deal

(28:18):
with a obnoxious Bears fan base if you pay attention
to those things. Over the next week, we might allow
our favorite Bears fan, lavell E Neil the Third to
join us next Sunday morning for a segment to chat
about what he's seeing from his favorite football team. That's
a three twenty five kickoff in Green Bay next Sunday.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
More on that in a moment.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
Let's hedge the Packer lines and welcome our good friend,
old Southside guy. Good morning, Tommy. How you doing.

Speaker 8 (28:47):
I'm doing well, baby. I hope to follow things well
in our hometown.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
For your Thanksgiving, yes, thank you. It was outstanding.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
Just a whole lot of fun being with the family
on Thanksgiving Day as always.

Speaker 8 (28:59):
That's great, hey, Davy, as you at least have tried
the cauliflower grott. I'm happy to see Lafloor trying to
put more trust in Jordan Love. I have been as
critical as any Packer fan about some of this play calling,

(29:19):
but boy, I've got to give him kudos here. He's
really he really opened it up against Detroit. I hope
we see that going forward, because we're going to have
at least four very tough games coming up here. That
going to Denver is going to be a tough one.
Playing Baltimore at home is going to be tough, and

(29:39):
of course the Bears twice and then the Vikings. But
I hope that. I know we're moving the ball around
more on offense, but I would really like to see
Watson become our number one target and receiver. Give him
the most targets. He's our most fluid, our tallest, He's
got great hands. I'd like to see him get number

(30:02):
one targets every game. And on the defensive side of
the ball, Davy, I don't know what's happened to Gary,
but you would think, you know, he had that great
start to the season first few games, but boy, he
has really disappeared. I'm concerned about him. I hope down
the stretch here, Parsons is going to have to have

(30:24):
more help. So let's let's see Gary showing up and
a lot of these guys that are going to have
to fill in because of the losses we've had, especially
with Drinkins in the middle on offense and Wyatt in
the middle on defense. Some of these new guys are
going to have to fill in, but it looks good.
Keep it up and go pack, go Thank you sir.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
Great to talk to you, Tommy as always, and enjoy
your week. A couple things there. Let's talk about trusting
Jordan Love. I don't know that I buy that narrative necessarily.
You can look at it that way when he's not,
you know, putting the ball in his hands and letting
him chuck at thirty or thirty five times. You know,
from my perspective, it was more about not trusting his
offensive line, which specially up the middle, has been less

(31:10):
than what we expected for most of the season.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
It has improved the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
I don't know if it's putting Sean Ryan in its
center and belting it right guard and things have stabilized
or whatever the reason might be. But I haven't felt
the last two weeks that that's been a concern, And
I think that a lot of it is you're dealing
with a lot of offensive weapons missing. You can't implement
the offense you want. Craft goes down now, maybe you

(31:35):
want to rely on the run a bit more if
you need to. I think he has full belief in
love and I do think, as we saw Thursday, he
knows when to uncork him and let him do his thing.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
As far as targets, I had made a note about this.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
Over the last three weeks now the target's share for
wide receivers go like this. Watson has been targeted twenty
two times, Wis and Dobbs thirteen each. So a couple
things there. Watson is the number one target now with
Kraft gone. He's delivering everything you would hope, right. I mean,
in the last two games he's made a number of
gigantic plays. He's also great in the blocking game. You

(32:11):
just want the kid to stay healthy, because that's been
the knock over the three four years he's been in
Green Bay. He just can't stay on the field. When
he's on the field, the offense is different. The game
breaking speed, the size, the hands. He's got every single
thing you would want, and I expect that to continue.
What was most encouraging was the perhaps breakout from Dantevion Wicks,

(32:31):
who we talked about it earlier. The two touchdowns, the
dagger catch on fourth down, six catches ninety four yards.
You know, I've equated his his sort of journey to
DeVante Adams, because Adams also his first couple of years,
was a you know, he was a second round pick,
a little higher than Wis, who I think was a
fourth round pick maybe, but same thing. You see everything

(32:53):
you want physically from a could be a gifted receiver,
but the hands let him down.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
And for Wicks it's been injuries too.

Speaker 6 (33:01):
With all the guys out, no Golden, no Reed, no Craft,
you needed another guy, and Wicks I think is starting
to pass Romeo Dobbs on the confidence meter for this
team because he's just physically stronger and you saw the
hands on fourth down going up and making that catch.
Brett If d'antavian Wicks has taken a leap, and I'm

(33:21):
not saying he has after one game against Detroit, but
in a big spot, time after time on Thursday, Love
looked to Wicks and Wicks delivered. And now you likely
get Red and Golden back next week for the Bears.
And now you've got four guys without even discussing Romeo Dobbs.
And that's why I don't believe Dobbs has a future
with this team. I think the fact that they drafted

(33:42):
Golden and Savian Williams, who also missed the game Thursday.
With Watson and Wicks, I think Dobbs might be the
odd man out. And he's been very good. He's been
the most trusted receiver from week one through now. But man,
you see that fumble, you know, you see a couple
of drops against the Giants. I don't think it's far
fetched to look at the future of this receiving corps

(34:03):
and go, all right, you know, Watson, Golden, Wicks, Reed Craft,
you know someone's going to have to be left out.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
I think it might be eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Well, that's been the idea of this wide receiver room
for years now, is it's so crowded. There is no
you know who's number one, There is no number one.
The problem with that is that you don't have many
reps to prove yourself, and the mistakes stand out. It's
not like Dobb's going to get targeted a bunch of
times to where he can make up for that fumble
couple drops. So when mistakes happen, you remember them and look,

(34:37):
Watson has planned like that long hail Mary home run
ball is something that no other receiver on this team
can do. I think they're missing that man demand beater,
which I think will be golden and let's ride with
a gadgety, you know, Jayden Reid in the slot and
a Gadgety save you on and go from there. But
I do like Dobbs, but we've got some good receivers
and Wix is one of them.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
Yeah, I'll be into see how this offense evolves. Clearly,
when you lose Tucker Kraft, you have to change what
you're doing offensively. I think Lafleur in the offensive staff
are figuring that out and as we said, they should
get some fun chess pieces back next week as we
enter the stretch drive. In the final five games in
December time you mentioned Rashan Gary, who I thought did
have some impact plays against the Vikings. I know he

(35:20):
had one pressure that led to the interception by Evan
Williams where they ended up doing the skull chat in
the end zone, which was the enduring image from the
Vikings game, the shot from behind the defensive guys in
the enze where you can see the crowd doing the
chat with them.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
That was fun to see, was it not?

Speaker 6 (35:37):
But it was Gary who impacted that play with the pressure,
so He's had his moments, but clearly not enough of them.
He's heard the chatter. We all know. The attention that
Parsons gets should open the door for Gary to pad
his statistics, and he hasn't been able to do that.
So it's a concern, and it's why I'm not sure
what they'll think about Gary long term, because they do
have some young guys. Lucas Fedness comes in and plays

(35:59):
six naps against the Vikes, his foot doesn't feel right,
he comes out, he doesn't play Thursday. I still hope
to get something out of him this season. I still
think that Lucas van Ness figures in to the long
term plans. Of course, a lot of us, as all
NFL fans do, go back to that draft. Every fan
goes back to Draft Knights, and we can do it.
Every fan base can do it for every single draft.

(36:21):
My draft crush that year was Jackson Smith and JIGBA
and they went Lucas fan Ness. By all accounts, Jackson
Smith and Jigbab was not even on their radar. They
like Zay Flowers more than JSN, but he was my guy.
He's now maybe well, he's the most productive receiver in
football this season. It may not be the best, but
we all have those kind of moments. So van Ness
hasn't given them much. But I think Bari shows out

(36:43):
Sorel the rookie they like him. Gary's gonna have to
prove his worth, I think down the stretch, or he
might be a trade candidate as they look to recoup
some draft capital. Maybe a team decides to give a
guy in his mid twenties a shot. He's making a
lot of money and with Micah Parson, maybe you don't
need to devote those kind of resources to your pass rush.
But I'd like to see Gary, certainly down the stretch,

(37:06):
your step up and show that he can be that
disruptive force that we've seen in the past. We have
not seen it so far. Are there any things about
this squad? Brett now, with the three game winning streak
knocking on the door to get on top of the
NFC North, that you're most concerned about? Things that worry you?

Speaker 3 (37:24):
You know? For me, it's the loss of Wyatt. I
mean that's the simple one.

Speaker 6 (37:27):
I just I know what this defense looks like with
him on and off the field, and I want to
see you know what timing Now you gotta stop maybe
the best running team in football the last few weeks,
and you just lost your big guy in the middle.
What maybe has you kind of tossing and turning at night?

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Well, that would be the big one, especially going into
a team in the Bears that just ran for fun
against the Eagles. So we thought were a vaunted defense.
Apparently not. I wish we would have known that a
couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
And they can't give us the note on that.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Seriously, I would just say the consistency because it like
we've rowed, you know, it's a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking of that game where the offense is broken, it's over.
Is it time to fire la floor? And then we
go up the roller coaster and now we're on a
winning streak, we're playing the montage. It just feels like
it's that time in the rhythm where you start to
go over the roller coaster hill and plummet down. Hopefully

(38:19):
that's just not the case, and they keep going up.
It is toyota than the fan has learned. So if
that keeps up, but it's just the not that I
feel like it's coming, because there's no reason that it should.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
The defense playing great. Love is on fire.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
But that's just been the rhythm of this season, is
ups and downs and lefts and rights, and so that
would be my biggest concern besides Wyatt and the run defense,
is just the consistency and putting people out there. But
we're getting a couple receivers back that should be good.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
I can't wait for that early line on the Packers
Bears game.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Have you seen it? You want to take a wild guess.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
I have. It was at like six something.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
It's five and a half yesterday, okay, but I'm a
little surprised. I would have probably guessed it was closer
to about a four point line. I think that five
and a half that seems a little bit heavy. I'll
take it.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
It's going to be a huge next Sunday.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
I can't wait to plan for it, think about it,
and preview it next Sunday morning. Bears at Broncos at
Bears the next three weeks. That's meaty. The two of
the hottest teams in football. Broncos have won eight straight.
They're on Sunday Night Football tonight. We'll get a chance
to watch them. Patrick Sirtanna's back for their defense as
is Singleton. They're leading tackler who's been out dealing with

(39:30):
a cancer scare. It's not going to be easy the
next three weeks. It's never easy to beat a team
twice in a three week span. As much as we
want to sweep the Bears, that might be difficult. The
main thing is to take care of business in the
first one at lambeau Field, snap their win streak, get
back on top of the North, and we'll see what
happens over those last four games.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
It's been a great week.

Speaker 6 (39:52):
We couldn't have asked for more, embarrassing the Vikings and
shutting them completely down at Lambeau on Sunday and then
heading to the Motors City and dealing the Lions their
ninth loss in their last ten Thanksgiving Day games, making
it too straight for the pack in the last two years,
the last three years against the Detroit Lions, and Jordan
Loves strutting his stuff chewing on the Turkey leg along

(40:13):
with Micah and company. This is what we wanted. We
wanted to be in position to make a Super Bowl run.
Packers are tied for third best odds to win the
Super Bowl as we sit here, and the calendar gets
set to turn to December. Enjoy a stress free Sunday
at football if you're going to watch today, and we're
back next Sunday at eight o'clock for the rest of
the season as we get set for the showdown with

(40:34):
the Bears. Enjoy your game and out of your day,
and as always, go pack
