That's KFN dot com slash furnace to enter today. He's
(00:31):
a couple thirteen fourteen pasted. I'm common.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
He is tenn to be Deuce and Roseen at one
for another edition of Spread Swing. Then Rosie will stick
around for another hour. We'll talk a little disc dat lap.
Right now, it's time for five to three four here
on the fam.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Time now four.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Five questions, well, actually three, but five sounds like more
than four. Question number one, we're going the way for Twins.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
We're going.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
It's now time to delve deep into Twins territory.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Holifori. We want to keep cheering for the Minnesota Twins because,
acording to Dan Hayes of the Athletic centerfielder, Byron Buckston
could consider waving his no trade clause for certain teams
if Minnesota continues breaking up their roster. Common your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Well, you know when when Byron signed what most people
considered a hometown discount deal, right, was it one hundred
million dollars or everything?
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Like ten years.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
It was admirable.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Hey, you know that's where I started my career, like
to end my career here, blah blah blah. And when
you're playing for a team that they had moments with Buxton, right,
and you're thinking, hey, you know we can win here. Well,
all of a sudden that after a while, when you
see the team hasn't been winning, And then when you
see what they did, I wanted. They were talking about
(02:07):
selling the team and then they cut the payroll and
then they traded eleven players. So now that that fairy
tale start your career and end your career with the
same team and maybe win a World championship isn't looking
so realistic anymore. And then you see other players your
(02:29):
you know, your peers and your your contemporaries qualifying for
postseason play, advancing through postseason play, and winning World Series.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
You're thinking, maybe staying with the Twins.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
From my entire career is and such a good ideas. Hi,
quite frankly, don't blame them. I mean again, you most
of these guys play to win, right at least you
want to win, So I don't blame them. And yeah,
it would be just another reason to to not pay
very close attention to the Twins because right now, and
we've talked about this for the past several weeks, ever
(03:08):
since the season ended, they have a handful of players
that are quality players. Buxton is good, we think Royce
Lewis has a chance to be really, really good. You
have a couple of good pitchers on the club. You
got Joe Ryan and Lopez. You know handful of other
players that are eight. But now, if if you continue
to part ways with your better players, if Buxton goes,
(03:31):
and I guess there's a good chance Joe Ryan goes
and Lopez, well what is it? Why would you even
want to follow the team? You're better off following the
Saint Paul Saints. And and if you're one of the
better players and you're you've got some money, been playing
a long time, you want to play in.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
The postseason, why would you want to stay here?
Speaker 1 (03:51):
So yeah, I found it interesting because, after all, after
the trade deadline last year, Buckston makeson I'm loyal here,
I'm going to stay here. And that has changed in
a what four months stretch for four months time three
four months, which to me, signifies he knows there's more
cuts coming, and it's probably the names you just mentioned, right,
(04:12):
Joe Ryan and or Pablo Lopez. And it does come
to the point if you're bucks and why am I
staying here? If that's gonna happen. We're like, he's got
a couple of years left in his prime and those
years are gonna be You're gonna be one of the
worst teams in all of baseball during that stretch. So
I don't blame it. I will say, if Buckson is gone,
(04:33):
and let's say Joe Ryan and or Pablo Lopez are
sent away as well, who's showing up to games this year?
They're gonna get nothing for attendance.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
The people that will show up will be the There
are several different new I've talked about this before.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
There are there are different.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Types of fans, and the fans that will show up
will be the ones where it's mom and dad and
the two or three kids and they're just go to
go to the ballgame.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
They really don't My kids like baseball and they just
want to go to baseball.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
They just go to a baseball game, and you know
that they're they're not as concerned about the direction of
the team and winning games. It's just, hey, it's go
out to the ballgame. You know, it's one, two, three strike,
you're out if you a ballgame. So but yeah, tenants
will I think we'll plummet for sure?
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Question number two, it's time now for it's a low
down in Dunky Town.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
The Gophers men's basketball team led thirty three to thirty
two early in the second half last night at Missouri,
but ended up losing eighty three to sixty. Only two
Gophers had double figures, with Kate Tyson leading the way
with seventeen points. The Tires shot fifty nine point two
percent from the field and made fifty percent of their
three point tries. Common what sticks out to you from
(05:50):
the Gophers loss at Missou last night? I guess I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I mean, look, it was probably too much to ask that,
you know, you changed the coach. He brings in some
new players in voila, here we go, We're ready to play.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
That was probably too much to ask.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
And it's only three games in through the JJ McCarthy bit.
If you want, you know McCarthy, he's the way to
play four games. Everybody cal him down we've only played
three games. Now, this was our first real competition though,
I think a real team, right, and that's that's not good.
So there's going to be some growing pains. That looks
like Tennabee. It looks like there's some growing pains. Your thoughts,
(06:28):
do you have any more?
Speaker 5 (06:29):
You have anything?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
I don't have. I did not see the game, have not.
It's so hard now in college athletics, specifically in basketball,
that the roster is a completely different than it was
a year ago with transfers. And so it's even hard
to like be completely attached to a team in early
Novembory because kay Tyson, I know of the name, I
know when they transferred in, but I never seen him
play basketball, correct, So it's hard to be connected.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Question number three, And now it's time to go.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
In the trenches. Actually I probably should have done this, opening,
said the year of the cap Common Lion's running back
Jamir Gibbs. He's only twenty three years old, and after
his three touchdown game on Sunday, he has forty one
touchdowns in his NFL career. Hall of famer Barry Sanders
(07:22):
scored forty seven touchdowns before his twenty fourth birthday, which
is the most in NFL history for a player under
the age of twenty four. Gibbs won't turn twenty four
until Mark, so he has the rest of the season
to score seven touchdowns and eclipse Barry Sanders record. Common
Will Jamiir Gibbs beat Barry Sanders record? And will Gibbs
one day be thought of in the same category as
(07:43):
a Barry Sanders. We're extrapolating quite a bit.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Out.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I don't sure, Hi, it's too early to determine if
you'll be considered Sanders. What made him so special is
just the way he was able to defy gravity. I mean,
you would see him do things that you just never
saw any run back ever do. It was just bizarre,
the way he contort his body and the control he
had over it. Gibbs is a hell of a running back.
(08:08):
It's fun to watch him. His his explosiveness and his ability.
He is he's and I think they've already said a
couple of times, like he has the you know, he's
the second fastest you go. You know, they said, I'm
that touchdown running ran twenty two point two miles per
hour or something like that. So catch a ball out
of the backfield, and we saw the one thing he's
(08:29):
not very good at, at least the Vikings certainly with
with their blitzing linebackers.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
He wasn't very good at picking up linebackers. Matter of fact,
they had to take him out of the game against
Minnesota for chunks of the game.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
And I don't know you would think he could get
the seven touddies. I mean, they like to get him
the ball when they get near the end zone.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
I was just going to say, like both Barry Sanders
and Engineer Gibbs, to me, what's is amazing about the status.
I don't think either of them got the ball to
goal line a whole lot. Barry Sanders definitely not. And
throughout I think they're now certain to give it to
Gibbs more than they once did. But early in his career,
like it was mostly David Montgomery inside to five, Jamier
(09:10):
Gibbs is getting through the twenty. So the fact that
the two record holders for most touchdowns before age twenty
four were not even necessarily goalline guys kind of blows
my mind.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I don't and again to rank, I mean, Barry Sanders,
he's the greatest I've ever seen. Yeah, he's you know,
we've had this debate before, we've talked about it. I
would say he's. I still think Jim Brown might be
the greatest running back of all time to be able
to do all things right. But as far as just
to pure runners hard are you with Sanders?
Speaker 1 (09:41):
It really is?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Yeah, question number three, all.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
My games, let's.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Win, let's game.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
It's now time to take an in depth look at
the state of the school.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
All Right, common prediction time. What will the Vikings final
record be this season? What are we now? Four and five?
Four and five? Do you have this?
Speaker 5 (10:06):
Do you have the record schedule? Front?
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Sure, Bears at home this week, that's a wor five
and five, at Green Bay five and six, at Seattle
five and seven, home to Washington six and seven, at
Dallas seven and seven, at New York Giants eight and seven,
home to Detroit nine and seven, home to Green Bay
(10:31):
ten and seven. We'll come in, We'll come in seven,
ten and seven. I think you'd be pretty happy with that,
and I think they probably will get you playoffs, probably.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
Qualified for the players. I think that mean.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Now, again, there's a couple of those games that are dicey.
I mean, they beat Detroit at at the litter Box.
Now that doesn't guarantee that they'll beat them in in
in at the bank.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
But but even the at Green Bay game, they said
the last like, that's that's winnable. Oh, absolutely winnable, Absolutely winnable.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
So yeah, I you know, I and so much of it,
I guess does depend on can quarterback whisperer. How much
can he ring out of a young quarterback who's to
this point. I know, I know, I know the the
hardcore Viking fans and the kids that love nine are
annoyed with me when I say he's had more struggle,
(11:25):
he's had more struggles and.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
He's had success. He just has. I mean, it's it's
and so.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
But if he can continue to make progress, if he
can continue to if he can stop overthrowing wide receivers,
if he can help keep the team out of third
and lungs, as Ben Lever said, I think, yeah, the
Vikings could win some football games Defensively, They're gonna have
to really lean on that defense a lot, and he's
gotta they've got to find a way to get Addie
(11:55):
and Jets involved, because you saw the numbers last week
tend to be they were, they were targeted a number
of times.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
But how many passes did each of them catch? Oh
he didn't even he didn't even complete fifty percent of
his passes.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, so we you know, Addie and Jets barely had
any catches.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
So that's all got to change.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
But yeah, if if he can continue to get better
and make progress and pick up the pace of that
progress and the defense plays like it does, I think.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
The bike I'd be pretty happy with ten and seven.
I think they could win ten games.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
I do.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
And that's it for today's edition of five questions, Well,
actually three questions, but five sounds like more than four.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Do you think that was Ducky and Bunny enough for
everybody trying to ducky and Bunny enough what I'm trying
to do. We'll take a break, We'll come back, and
by the way, ten to be I believe you have

Speaker 2 (13:32):
What do we call list radio? Lazy radio? And why
do we like lazy radio?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Here on the phone, why do we like list radio? Yeah,
because we're lazy. Correct.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
CBS Sports did a piece called grading NFL QBS on
Rookie Deals.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
M you ready for this?
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Sure, Drake By it's an A plus. Yeah, that's an
obvious one.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
He's the cod betting favorite to NFL MVP at FanDuel.
He's taking the paths from worse to first. What else
is there to say? If you want to quibble. He's
taking too many sacks thirty five, that's second most in
the NFL. But that's where the negatives end. Caleb Williams
said to me, what do you think his grade is?
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Uh? B minus? He gets a B From year one
to year two.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
There have been glaring areas of improving, with Williams developmenting
glaring areas of stagnation as well. The sack prone Williams
we saw as a rookie is no more.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
He's on pace to take fewer than.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Half the sixty eight sacks we saw.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
From him as a rookie.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
That's allowed for a much more consistent flow over the
Bears offense this season. When you've been sacked that many
times and you get sacked, is.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Thirty five still a lot? Like? What's half of sixty eighth?
That would be thirty four? Is thirty four still a
lot of sacks?
Speaker 5 (14:52):
See what I'm.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Saying ten to me?
Speaker 2 (14:53):
I mean, yeah, if you cut it in half from
sixty eight, that's great. But getting sacks sixty eight times?
Is that a National Football League record for one quarterback
in a season?
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I thought it was that to like eighty or something.
That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
On the flip side, it would be more consistent if
he didn't have as many pure misses on tape.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
He has.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Adjusted completion percentage has taken a step back even from
his rookie season, and he's especially struggled finding his mark
when on the move. The scary thing is the Bears
offense is already effective, with so much more potential of
Williams yet to be unlocked. Jackson Dart tendebe gets a B.
A good Dart is imperfect, and his play style has
(15:36):
quite obviously not been sustainable. The Giants offense would not
be as effective as it's been under his tenure. He's
twelveth amongst starters in EPA Slash play this season and
is responsible for seventeen.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Scores in only seven starts. Bow Knicks uh C minus
Nicks is a bit of a roller coaster.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Nix is one of those high button quarterbacks were an
honest review of his strengths and weaknesses as a rarity
to a certain segment of the Broncos fan base. His
play is the reason Denver's eight and two. To another
segment of national media who never saw him as a
first rounder to begin with, his play has been bench
worthy so far.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
The truth is.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Somewhere in the middle. Nicks has almost all of the
traits you want from a franchise quarterback. He's been the
best QB in the entire league at avoiding sacks when pressured,
while also leading the league in game winning drives.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
The one trade he obviously.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Has not shown the season as a pretty dark, big
one though accuracy. We see a little of that here
in Minnesota as well. What do you think of Bonix
Tendab I mean, like I say, it sounds like there's
really different opinions about him.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Well, I just brought up right before you talked about
it is it's just inconsistent. There's a game where you'll
be like, Bonnicks is awful, he's one of the worst
quarterbacks in football, and then the next game they're down
twenty points and then he's leading to a comeback victory,
right right. I do think he benefits from a lot
of good stuff around him. I think his offensive line
(17:07):
is one of the best in football, and his defense
is elites, specifically the past defense. So some of his flaws,
they can still win games, and it's not all on him,
as opposed to some other teams in which the quarterbacks
have to carry the load a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Cam Ward's getting a C minus says no quarterback in
the NFL is fighting a tougher uphill battle each game
than the Titan signal caller. His top three receivers of
late have been two Day three rookies and a journeyman
who's been on four teams in three years.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Oh and he's already had his head coach fired.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
You can't evaluate him purely statistically because it's the worst
situation in the entire NFL. That being said, there's one
area he has to improve on and fast amazon Sam
schwarztein Ef actually calls it scrack sack EPA combined with
scramble ep. It's a stat where playmakers such as Josh
(18:03):
Allen Patmomes.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Routinely lead the league.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
In other words, able to get out of the pocket
make throws, which is big Tennabe. There's nothing better because
in this league we talk about it all the time.
This just then the guys playing are the best football
players in the world, and they can all get to
the quarterback and they can all beat good linemen. Now
the linemen are really good. That's why guys oftentime get
time to throw. But when you're flushed out of the pocket,
(18:28):
can you make the throws? And some quarterbacks are awful
at it. McCarthy struggle with that a little bit so far.
But there are other guys that are really good, and
Mahomes and Allen.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Would be two of those.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yes, CJ.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Stroud gets a D plus. I think that's fair. Here's
what they say. There are valid excuses for Stroud's poor
performance this season. His offensive line, the inexperienced receivers, the
first year offensive coordinator. It's not an easy situation to
play a lead football And Stroud, though, isn't some rookie
just finding his footing in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
He's the third year player. We had one of the
best statistical rookie seasons of all time. The bar for
him is different than it is for other quarterbacks on
this list. I was just going to bring that up
that his rookie season was, you know, other than jayde
and Daniels, one of the best rookie seasons we've seen
out of a quarterback in the last five six years.
And people thought this guy's going to be a top
(19:19):
five quarterback in the league and he has completely fallen off.
And as they mentioned, I don't think it's all his fault.
I don't think he's had a lot to work with,
especially their offensive line has just been horrendous for a
good chunk of his time there. But still the expectations
after year one were much higher for him, and he
is disappointed. Michael Pennocks Junior gets a D.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Says the exciting downfield passer we saw last season and
at Washington has been nowhere to be found this fall.
In fact, Penis has as many deep completions this entire
season seven as he did in three starts as a rookie.
That seems wholly incompatible with the player most expect Pennox
to be. He's only managed a three pounds yards and
(20:00):
sixty eight rushing yards on the fourty three times he's
broken the pocket this season. For someone who has to
win from the pocket, Pennix needs to be more precise
than he's been this season. And then that leads us
to today lower well they are and J. J. McCarthy's
next on that list, and he gets an F you thing,
and the listeners think you and I are tough on McCarthy.
(20:24):
CBS Sports on List Radio is giving him an F.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Here's what it says.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
McCarthy has more interceptions six than Tuddy passes five, has
the lowest completion percentage in the entire NFL through four
starts fifty three point seven percent, and is sack pace
extrapolated to seventeen games would be the sixth most all time.
It's important to reiterate though, that it's only four starts
(20:52):
in the first four of his career at that if
you're looking for encouraging signs, you'll find a couple of
throws a game, but not in an extented stretch of
play to warrant grade higher than this. And that's what
we've kind of been saying about them all along, and
that we both have let's reiterate, neither of us say
get rid of McCarthy, give up on him, and let's
see we can get Wentz.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Ready to go in the next week or two.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
What we're saying is it's that this is a longer
learning curve than other quarterbacks. The injuries have been a problem.
He was heard as a rookie year and he had
the high ankle spring here. But and then you know,
quarterback Whisper was supposed to bring a lot out of
this guy. We haven't seen a lot of it yet,
but it is early. Bryce you old gets an f
as well.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
But I do wonder I know Koc is the quarterback Whisper.
I do think some of JJ McCarthy's bad stats can
be attributed to Koc because McCarthy has been inaccurate. But
he's also throwing the ball. He's throwing the ball farther
downfield than the vast majority of quarterback. Like, he's not
doing a lot of the easy gimme dump offs that
(21:56):
that you can just rack up completion percent of John
So he's all so taking a lot of sacks because
he's holding onto the ball longer than most. So I
think that's a lot of that is koc Is saying,
this is my offense. I'm going to get you to
the point where you can fit in my offense. I
think you're right as opposed to Well, maybe he can't
do that as of right now. We'll see if it
changes much.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
On Sunday a game, we're here on the station coverage

Speaker 1 (23:34):

beautiful Thursday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
And of course, as I mentioned on the Connectical Water
Systems hotline, it's my firstborn Deuce, Deuce, how are you me?
Speaker 5 (23:44):
Boy?
Speaker 6 (23:46):
I'm doing pretty well doing I just churning out in
the Excel spreadsheets over here in my lovely Arden Hill's office.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
It's a good day.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Let me ask you a question. You ran again this morning?
You've changed your schedule. You were you were leaving work,
coming home, getting into your running gear and going for
a run.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Now you're leaving early, you're up before I am.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
You're you head over to your office and you you're
running over inn Arden Hills.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Did you run again this morning?
Speaker 7 (24:12):
Then?
Speaker 6 (24:14):
Yes, yes I did. I I start out Arden Hills.
In the past couple of days, I've just been going
south on Lexington Avenue, and yesterday I made it all
the way down to Como Lake before I turned around
and came back. And I'm planning on doing a marathon
in Nebuary hopefully, so I'm starting to really amp up
the mile again.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
How many did you how many? How many miles did
you go today?
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Today?
Speaker 6 (24:40):
I did nine number nine nine miles?
Speaker 8 (24:44):
Did you run past that site that was going to
be the site of the Viking Stadium in Arden Hills?
Speaker 1 (24:48):
That's when I wanted over.
Speaker 8 (24:49):
It was I remember up there with Lester Bagley and
they were talking very positively about this is where they
were going to build a new stadium.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
I wonder if anything went in there that. Nothing's gone
in there now, nothing's gone in there. I drive by.
I drive by it every day. Nothing nothing still. You know,
that's that's great piece of land too. Obviously it's basketball
bill target show. You need to clean up the water
and all that stuff, But I mean I drive by
it every day.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
The last thing you would want to do is have
to drive to our hills to go to the Lexus Club.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
You don't want it to be build.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I don't want to go there. I tell my kids
every time you drive, we drive by it on the
way to a kid's school. Yeah, and every day we
drive by it because I was tell them once I
win the power ball and build a golf course there. Oh.
It's just a great piece of property.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
There's no question about town.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Dude. Since you're in the neighborhood, you can start raking.
I got a house in Sharby. If you want to
rake some leaves or mows and grass while you're up there,
he's got price.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
Maybe you could get the spread swing music work. And
if I could hear that during the during the little
break in between pick, that'd be well worth it for me.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
We you got a hockey game coming up right? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (25:55):
Uh tomorrow, we got the girls hockey. It's Lakesville North
taking on Marshall and I don't even need to say
you and all the listeners know two teams that don't
like each other.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
So it'll be a story high.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
School hockey game that I do for this season, I'm
doing most of the Lakeville North boys and girls hockey,
so nice. It's gonna be a good matchup.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Is lake Villa and Marshall. It didn't.
Speaker 6 (26:21):
It didn't Lake Village. Okay, games, if I if I
had to drive to Marsha, I would need a little
little gas money from from the head hon game time.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Yeah, very good, all right, we're ready to play. Ready
to play. Let's let's go over. Yeah, let's go over
the results from last week. First, So going into last week,
come and you were in the lead with forty four points.
I was in second place with thirty nine points. Juice
was in third with fifteen and a half points, and
then in last place minus sixteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Better.
Speaker 8 (26:54):
Hey, hey, mind your manners. So that's my birthday today.
Be nice to me.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
And let's just say I feel better at seventy four
than four. You look stronger, you do well. Your your
spread swing picks aren't any better into seventy four than
they were a man, because you are still in last
place after last week. Rosie. You had Philadelphia plus one
and a half against the Packers at Lambo and they
(27:20):
did win by three, so you did gain four and
a half points. There s more than But you had
the Vikings plus four against when they scored the first
touchdown of the game against the Baltimore Ravens. They lost
by eight, so you lost four points there. I just
realized I wrote on your wrong score, so of course
did at least I corrected. So you're gonna be at
(27:41):
minus seventeen point. You only dropped a point on the week. Deuce,
You're still in third place. You had the Chargers minus
three against Pittsburgh and they won by fifteen, so he
gained twelve points there.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
Whoa.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
But you had Carolina minus five and a half against
or Lens and they lost by tens. You lost fifteen
and a half. So for the week you lost three
and a half. You dropped down to twelve. I'm still
in third place, though I did have a slight victory
this week. First one did not go well for me.
Had Tampa Bay Tampa Bay minus two and a half
against the Patriots and they actually lost in New England
(28:16):
by five, so I lost seven and a half points there.
But I had Seattle minus six and a half against
Zona and they won by twenty two. Gain fifteen and
a half there, so I go from thirty nine to
forty seven points, which means common. I'm just in your
mirror may be closer than they appear. Well, Luckily, Luckily
(28:36):
for you, Common, your kiddies came through with a similar score.
You Detroit minus eight against Washington, they won by twenty
two points. You gained fourteen. You had a small loss
in your other game. You har Chicago minus five, they
won by four over the Giants. You lost a point there.
So Common, you're in first place with fifty seven. I'm
ten back with forty seven, deuces, in third with twelve,
(28:59):
and Roses last of minus seventeen. Hey, well he was
minus seventeen, if you know what I mean. Okay, so
the first quarter today is Rosen deuce me Common spread swing.
(29:21):
Now it's time to put the pedal down.
Speaker 8 (29:23):
I'm not putting up with this nonsense anymore. You're taking
that Viking club, No, I am not that. That's probably
gonna be a three point game either way. I'm not
quite sure about that one. But I'm gonna go with
the forty nine ers on the road minus three at Arizona.
Banged up Arizona team. Now Jacobet continues to play a quarterback.
That's not the problem, but now they're missing Marvin Harrison
(29:44):
Junior is out with the appendicitis.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Zay Jones killes tenth.
Speaker 8 (29:49):
There and and for the forty nine ers, brock Purty
is scheduled to come back at quarterback. There's six and four.
That's a team that's you just can never ignore. I
don't care if they're on the road. I'm gonna double
down in this one. Oh wow, minus three, I think
they're gonna Arizona's just you know, they've lost six of
their last seven games. Uh, they're a mess. Uh, they
(30:13):
don't really have much going on. And I think San
Francisco is still the forty nine ers. So I will
take the forty nine ers minus three and double that.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
We got a double down. Yep, first one of the year.
All right, here comes the music by.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
There may not be any points in this game, or
I'll probably only get a handful. But I really like
the way the Rams have been playing. I think Matthew
Stafford is sneakily playing some of the best football of
his career. I don't think he's thrown an interception in
the past six seven weeks or so. I think he's
been He's been playing beautifully and in the last three
(30:58):
games they've scored thirty five, thirty four, and forty two points.
Now they have to play a team that's a lot
better than what they've seen in the past few matches.
The Seahawks are arguably the best team in football right now,
but I think the Rams are going to pick up
a nice victory. They're at home, and I just like
them over Seattle. I think a grizzled veteran like Matthew
(31:19):
Stafford knows how to win tough football games like this
at home. So I'll take the Rams. I have to
give up a few points for it. It could be a
close game, but I got a good feeling about this one.
I'm taking the Rams minus three and a half.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Right, last time Darnold played there did not go too
well for him. The La Rams, you might still have
some might still be seeing some ghosts from that one.
Good point I meant to do this first hold on
it's spread swing. It's been a roller coaster season for
(31:57):
your Minnesota Vikings. They won in the down part of
the roller coaster last week. Now they start to ascend
up once again because they are playing one of the
most overrated teams in the National Football League. That would
be your Chicago Bears. And even last week, right you
look at the Vikings game against Baltimore, they ended up
(32:17):
losing by eight to two. I think a team that's
gonna win the AFC North, and they did it with
three turnovers and one hundred yards of penalties. I'd like
to think they're going to clean some of that stuff
up on their end. Still quarterbacking with training wheels. On
the other hand, Caleb Williams struggles against the Blitz who
Blitz is more than any team in the National Football League.
(32:39):
That would be b Flow's defense. They also play a
little bit of zone, which Caleb Williams struggles against. Chicago
has just been beaten up on really really bad teams.
Vikings have already beaten them once. Now they're going to
do it at home. I'm going to take the Vikings
minus three against the Chicago Bears. Vikings Vikings sway.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Yeah. Being the leader, my guess is, you guys love
this because you're thinking, I've got to pick the kiddies.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
That's what I do.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
And they're playing at Philadelphia, and Philadelphia is the defending
world champions. Their talented squad, the Lions have lost a
couple of games to some teams. I mean, I guess
what I'm saying is they've beaten teams are supposed to
beat and they've lost to some to some of the
they lost to Green Bay, they lost to the Vikings,
(33:36):
and their other losses to Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
So they haven't really beaten anybody.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
And you would think they're gonna have their handful hands
full with Philadelphia. But I would take this game even
if it wasn't spread Spring. It doesn't matter to me.
I like the way to Schrot's playing football right now.
What I really liked was I watched the and I
know this, this doesn't this doesn't guarantee anything, but I
like the way Campbell during his Newscars on the Barrier
and he said when I played, I love playing.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
On the rope.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
He goes, and my team is going to eat this up.
We can't wait to play at Philadelphia. Here's what I
else I said about Philadelphia goes, you know some places
you go to the way betch and say, hey, we're
glad you're here playing us.
Speaker 5 (34:14):
He says, it's just the opposite. In Philadelphia, there.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Was the toughest place to play.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
They're embracing it. Other teams have said it and failed.
I like the Lions. I'm getting two and a half points,
and I think the war that's.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Gonna be well good pick. It should be.
Speaker 8 (34:27):
It could be an NFC Championship preview. I mean, very well,
could be that swing. I like, it's a couple of
games here and I'm ten. I'll probably say I sniped him.
I I like Buffalo Bulls track against Tampa. But that's
not the team. I'm not taking them. I think that
(34:48):
you know, you almost snipe me.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I go ahead. The team that's just abysmal.
Speaker 8 (34:54):
I'm going with more of the fact that they're so
awful as opposed to a Texans team that's very good.
You know, defensively, they have to give what are they
six and a half points favorite half at Tennessee. At
Tennessee's one and eight and they're going nowhere. They're looking
at the number one pick next year. Texans. Defensively, I
don't know Titans will cross midfield. Really yeah, it's just
(35:15):
I mean, six and a half seems like a lot
of points.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
The road part of it doesn't matter. Do a double.
But they're no, no, they're four and five.
Speaker 8 (35:22):
They're they're kind of fighting for, you know, possibility to
kind of keep themselves in the playoff hunt. So I
will take the Texans minus six and a half at
the mobile Gan Tennessee Titans problems.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
They might not have their starting quarterbacks still, though it
doesn't matter. J Stroud doesn't matter. It matters a little bit. Well,
it doesn't matter. He's good.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
I give this.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Quarterback.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
When you look at you, great rookie, isn't You're right?
Speaker 1 (35:55):
That's your juice? Yeah, yeah, my bad bokes.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
I think for my second election. They played one of
their worst games of the twenty twenty five campaign last week,
and I think they're due for a bounce back against
one of the worst defenses that I've ever seen in
my time watching football. Now Dad's been watching since the
leather helmet era practically, so I haven't seen a ton
(36:23):
of football. But I don't think you can get much
worse than the Cincinnati Bengals defense. And I think Aaron
Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to walk into
hind S Field a little bit ticked off, the returning
home after a brutal beatdown against the Chargers where they
just look really bad. And I think Aaron Rodgers is
going to pick apart the Bungal defense. It's an AFC
(36:44):
North collision, and I think the Steelers are gonna win
by two or three touchdowns. I'll take the Pittsburgh Steelers
over the Cincinnati Bungles, and I'll give up five and
a half.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Man.
Speaker 8 (36:54):
I like the other one in that one, okay, And
you like Joe am I love Joe Flacco.
Speaker 7 (37:01):
Spread swing, no snipitch today.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
I have two games that I like. I like Atlanta
minus three and a half against Carolina, But we're we're
gonna go a different route.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
What route you going?
Speaker 1 (37:19):
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've had one
team that has gotten me some wins in the last
couple of weeks, and I'm just gonna keep riding them.
I didn't pick him last week, but I'm gonna go
with the Baltimore Ravens minus seven and a half at Cleveland.
They've been a different team since Lamar Jackson comes along.
They've won three straight games, and during that stretch, they
basically outscored their opponents on average twenty eight to thirteen.
(37:42):
Cleveland's two and seven, And they know at this stage
like Dylan Gabriel is not the guy ye and like
they could fall apart pretty easily middle a second quarter. No,
this game is over and Baltimore can just absolutely route them.
Seven and a half is a lot of points at
good points. Why don't you double down? But Baltimore is
beating everybody by over seven and a half points of
(38:03):
the stage. So I'm gonna go Baltimore minus seven and
a half on the road at Cleveland, spread swing k
c k c oh boy, I know it's at Denver.
I know Denver is Denver.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
They eight and two.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Yeah, that's a big one for the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Will Chiefs got their back against the wall, gut check time.
And I think the Chiefs have that quiet confidence about them.
They're that team that they don't really it's the old
we don't care what happened.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I mean, you got to play well in there. Your
season will qualify.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
For postseason places. We just need to get into the tournament.
And I think they're going to show this Denver club
because Denver's probably feeling.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Good about themselves, and then they go We're going to show.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
Denver what championship football is.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Like, I think Kansas City goes in and dominates the Broncos.
I think, not just I know I'm giving up three
and a half points, but I like.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Three and a half at Denver against the real one
of the best defense in the league is little worry
some for me.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
I'm I'm in. I'm taking.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
It has to be a low scoring affair. I'm taking
k I think it's gonna be like a twenty to
seventeen type game.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
I think it's going to be I think Kansas City
might score over twenty points in the first quarter. I
think they're going to have a big game against the
Denver Broncos. I'll take Kansas City and give the three
and a half points.
Speaker 8 (39:35):
Well, let's see if Pacheco plays. He's been questionable all
week with the knee.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
He's not out for a while. It doesn't matter. The
Kareem Hunt the last couple of weeks doesn't matter like
Kareem Hunt. Yeah you do. Even if Checko's healthy. I
don't even know if he's their guy any The key
is it you give the Hunt. You'll never have to punt.
That's it for all, right, Bob. Now what are you
(40:00):
flying to Atlanta? This world traveler? Are you still going
to Atlanta?
Speaker 2 (40:04):
That?
Speaker 6 (40:06):
No, that trip kind of fell through.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
I was it was.
Speaker 6 (40:08):
It was under consideration, like last week, and then some
work stuff came up and the plane tickets. They're just
getting outraged and what we've been seeing lately before, I
could have got canceled all together. So I bailed on that.
So our next trip will be our little excursion to
uh the Palm Spring.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Yeah, that'll be fun. You know, we're gonna do a
little trip to the family. We're gonna have some fun
down there.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
All right, me boy, we'll see you tonight, big one. Tonight.
It's New England the Jets. That should be a good game.
Speaker 6 (40:36):
Wow, it doesn't get any bigger than that.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
What's your choice? Jets, Patriots or Gilligan's Island.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
Just sut my hair on fire before I'd watched pat Jets.
So I'll take an episode of jan maybe the pilot.
Let's watch the plet again where they were skippering Jigans
sail away from the island in search of rescue.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
And I'm very mini me they got to the other side.
He's just a mini common He.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
Is where where where he's Well, that's why he's doing
cut from the same clock.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Good day, drive home, careful, I'll see you tonight. Take care.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
There you go, a little spread swing, We'll take a break,
come back another hour with
Speaker 1 (41:17):
The legendary Mark Rose and coming up all right here
on the fan
