You were going to ask something, Yeah, how are they
so good? I don't know, Hines first year full? Didn't
you come in half?
Speaker 5 (02:37):
You didn't you come in about this time a year ago? Yeah?
I think so. Yeah, sounds right. I love it. Good
for them, they're good. The same exact team, isn't it.
That's last week?
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Now?
Speaker 8 (02:46):
How about the hot rumor? It's a rumor, but they
they might be in the mix for Sydney Crosby.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
The Wild Yeah, it would be sweet. Man. Would you
hear that steam from? I feel like it's all over
multi rummer.
Speaker 8 (03:00):
I don't know, man, it's all over Twitter, just because
like I don't know, I don't know if the money
works or anything like that. But like they think he
might become available because Pittsburgh is terrible and the uh
Marc Andre Flurry connection, loss the Yard, the Bill Garry
Bill Garry connection. God, he's thirty eight but still goat
(03:22):
still Well, Yeah, it'd be weird to not see him
with Pittsburgh, But I mean, that'd be pretty sweet to
see him here. But also as somebody put it out yesterday.
Brett Farr became a Viking, that's true. Michael Jordan was
a wizard. Yeah yeah, and he played on the basketball team.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Tommy Elsen, Ben Leaver, Ben Lever, Tommy Elson, Tommy Elsen, justin,
Tommy Elsen. Hi, Hi, before we dive into what really
matters and before we talk go for football and Vikings
football and all this stuff, Ben, can we go back?
I just mentioned that I do watch Twin Cities last
year time at the time.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yes you do. I texted you during your show the
other day, which I never do. I never or do that.
Such anudea. Guys, everybody in this room except time.
Speaker 8 (04:10):
Counterpubscirt with your fruit basket in it.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
No, uh, everybody except for Tom. He's gonna love this.
Ben and Elizabeth had the two very nice sisters. They
were from Hugo. Correct, sisters are.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Some black ladies blood sisters?
Speaker 9 (04:39):
No, they were sisters by blood.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
No, they were actual sisters.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
And they started like a flower business or something, right,
and they did a great.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
Job and they were very nice and the interview was fine.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
I didn't listen to a word they said because the
name of their company.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Was their nicknames. Oh.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
One of the sisters names nicknames was t and the
other one was NAE. So the company's name was t
and Nay. And if you say that fast, Tommy, DNA TNA.
It's TNA like flowers. And I'm like, TNA.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
That's an aggressive name for a couple of sisters doing
a flower shop.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
So I texted Ben, I go.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
TNA what and you said, which I think is fascinating.
Speaker 10 (05:32):
Well, they came up with the company name, not knowing
what the acronym was.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
That they walked right a TNA. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (05:41):
Yeah, And so they officially started the coming like we
really didn't know, like we didn't think about it because
this has just been our nickname since we've we've grown up,
because it's just shortened down from their regular names.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
And they talked about that on the air. No, no, I'm
talking about this off the air because you asked. We
were all just kind of gig We're giggling about it.
I mean, it's name is TNA.
Speaker 10 (06:00):
It was like in our morning meeting, they're like, okay,
we're having these girls on and Nay like right, and
and they're like, no, no, no, we we just didn't
we didn't think about it.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
They're just like completely naive about it.
Speaker 11 (06:13):
To my point though, it was like, but now that
you know, shouldn't you maybe like or lean into it?
Scandalous there's been Well that's the thing, like or you
could lean into it. But they're like, way too wholesome
to lean into it.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah, they seemed like that, and.
Speaker 10 (06:28):
So I'm like, well, it's never too early just to
change your name. And I mean there's a lot of
companies that just changed their name that one.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
And Hawk's gonna buy a lot of flowers? Is it
Hugo Week? Is that what you're doing. Yeah, we're in
Hugo on U tomorrow, blue Air. Great spot. That's what
we're going to be electric. Have you been there? Probably
never been there. Zacho's going to be there. Zacho is
going to be there. Yeah. God, back from Vegas straight
to Hugo. Thomers go join it live. They wanted you go.
(06:57):
You love it so much time three to four thirty thirty,
four to thirty every weekday. Yeah, I think I'm all
right there you should go come.
Speaker 10 (07:06):
Uh shoot, oh yeah, yeah, what just came up?
Speaker 5 (07:11):
No, I think we're cutting our Christmas tree down. Well,
there's a Christmas tree place in Hugo. There tell me
what if I told you is going to be there.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Yeah, gros put your hands down.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Oh you goes a great spot. Keep driving a little morning.
Do you Where do you chop down your Christmas tree?
Speaker 4 (07:33):
There's two places, one with sas I do Coruger's and
then the other one is Saint.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Craig Christmas Tree Farm. Go greatest place in the world.
You guys. You have to. It's the coolest. It's like
you're going back to the fifties. Yeah, that's stuffs. Sweet.
Christmas trees are sweet. I buy mine from Lieber.
Speaker 10 (07:50):
Yeah, thank sorry, Yeah, but you know what, I signed
up for our ur Leaved Grace Christmas tree lot literally
the second to last day that it's opened. So if
you want to wait, get your Christmas tree when I'm working.
It's like December fourteenth.
Speaker 8 (08:04):
I think you had to pay for mine last thirteenth,
thirteen because I didn't have any cash.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
I did.
Speaker 10 (08:08):
Actually, yeah, we get it all set up and we
like take everything down for you and we like wrap
it all up and put it on your car.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
And you're like, I don't have my wallet.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
He did this morning when he didn't have his wallet
getting into the building. My guess is this year. On
about December thirteenth, He's going to tweet out, anybody know
where I can get a good Christmas tree.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
It's not far from my house. Roll in bat'll take
care free. Do you put it in netting and all that? Yeah,
put it in.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (08:33):
We asked for a fresh cut, fresh cut yea and
hot chocolate.
Speaker 7 (08:39):
We have hot chocolate and hot cider, deep fried oreos, relax.
Speaker 10 (08:42):
And we have a giant We have a giant like
fire pit deep oreos.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Oh yeah, this is the place. This is.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
It's incredible. It's incredible. It's a winter wonderland, relaxed, deep
fried cookie does and then you can shota and put
it in your So they turned it into a Christmas
state fair.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
While you're cutting down the cheetah. The trees almost aid
cheese because the cheese curts.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
They have.
Speaker 10 (09:05):
Cheese courage the best place and probably manys all that
they got.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
It all right over the border in Somersets. It's phenomenal.
Speaker 7 (09:11):
That sounds sweet, dude. I'm not kidding. I couldn't recommend
it enough. May obviously, when there's baby sauce that you
gotta bring.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
That's a noe for you. Think Berkeley Lambert is going
to Wisconsin.
Speaker 7 (09:21):
But then you gotta cut it too, and then you
gotta drag it back in like you go out into
the like into the field and you cut it up.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Put your hand down.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
You're making a weird Oh yeah, that's what Sauce is
gonna do, is cut down a tree.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
It to his car.
Speaker 7 (09:33):
Give but like you go pick it out like in October,
and Eddie and I would hide a football in it
and so when we come back we can play catch.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
It just got the best. It was the best, all right.
You live a Hallmark movie.
Speaker 10 (09:44):
Man, do you guys see Sauce with a baby be
orn cutting down a tree?
Speaker 5 (09:53):
Your back out, Brandy.
Speaker 7 (09:56):
But there they are roubes and they name like they
name one the power Trip tree, like they have every
tree there. There's probably ten thousand trees and there's like
a power Trip tree. There's a Corey Cove tree, there's
a lever, there's a there's what they because they there's
so many names of the guys, there's so many names
of these trees.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
They just they run on the names to the Corey
cob Like I found the Time of You, I found
the fifty eight tree. I found the fifty three and
all this stuff. And this is for tomorrow, both of them. Tomorrow,
no cessus tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
Family one is actually Saturday of Chris after Thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Well, win the acts and then bring the acts and
chop it down right.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
Oh yeah, So they always said the owner always said,
if we beat Ohio State, the tree is free.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Well you can't do that this year. I've been paying
a lot, been paying a lot.
Speaker 7 (10:40):
But actually, when we beat Wisconsin or be Scan for
the first time and he gave it to us for free.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Nice, it's the best. It's so cool. You guys gotta
go there. I couldn't. I couldn't recommend a place more.
That sounds pretty cool. All right, let's do what really matters.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
We'll do scores and stats and then it matters, right,
learn something else about society?
Speaker 12 (10:56):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
The Gopher football team hosts number four Penn State Saturday,
thank thirty right here on the fan.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
The Gophers lost to Rutgers a couple of weeks ago.
They had a buye. But our six and four Penn
State has lost to only Ohio State. They are nine
and one.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
DraftKings has Penn State as an eleven point favorite. But
I heard you guys talking like twelve twelve and a half,
So it's kind of weird to have a one and
a half point range. Most yeah, sports books are a
little closer together. But DraftKings just eleven after this, of
course at Wisconsin on Black Friday at eleven o'clock. So
the regular season for the Gophers just two games left.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Flash.
Speaker 13 (11:32):
It's a big one, right, I mean, I think it's
one of those things where we said this, I heard
you guys talking about this earlier. Penn State is really
they've ramped it up, right if you get Penn State
six weeks ago. I think we feel really good about it.
I think that lost Rutgers kind of take a little
bit of the wind out of the sale. But we
have talked about this every year Senior Day Bowl Positioning
Governor's Bell, last home game for the team, last home
(11:54):
game for seniors. So it's a very emotional game. So
anything can happen. We've seen it all you're in college football.
We've seen the Vanderbilt pulling off the victories like on
any given Saturday, can happen. But what I think is
the most unique part of it, which listeners might be surprised.
It's very rare in your career to get a chance
to go up against the best, right and I scrolled
(12:17):
last night.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
There was years where I didn't have a chance.
Speaker 13 (12:19):
To play against a top ten team, sometimes even a
top twenty team. When we talk the next segment about
Indiana Ohio State, Indiana hasn't actually played a ranked team
in twenty twenty four. So having a chance to go
up against the best, I always think is the difference.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
So when you're Daniel Jackson.
Speaker 13 (12:36):
And your Darius Taylor in arianta Ursera, trying to position
yourself for the draft, like you get a chance to
go against the number four team in the country. Now,
those haven't gone our way all the time, but I
think I think you do amp it up and you've
had two weeks to prepare.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
But this is a team that's it's elite.
Speaker 13 (12:54):
I don't think it's Michigan twenty twenty three, which was
a really rough game. But this this is a this
is a really solid team. But I would be surprised.
I think you guys talked about Glenn Mason earlier. I
don't really I know college football might be I wouldn't
say it's down. It's probably has more parody I still
don't see Penn State coming through this being a contender
(13:16):
for the national champion. So this is a really solid team,
but it's not the elite teams.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
There's there's there's chinks in the armor over there.
Speaker 13 (13:24):
I think Minnesota is going to have to play a
very unique style of football this week. Max Brosmer is
not sitting back and going through five reads. There's not
a chance he's gonna do that.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
It's gotta be a quick passing game.
Speaker 13 (13:36):
You're gonna have to set up and be on schedule,
which is really difficult to do. So setting up makeable
third downs, which teams don't do.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
But that's the play.
Speaker 13 (13:45):
Calling on first and second down is the most critical
play calling of the game.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
And then defensively it is a good offense.
Speaker 13 (13:51):
But more than anything, I'm gonna stack up to to
to really stop the run and try to slow down
this all world tight end and just man up on
the outside and pray to God that they don't find
a way to complete stuff through there. But I if
this team has the ability at the you know, kind
of to wield their way running the football, that could
be demoralizing if they do that. Stack up the box,
(14:14):
stop the run and cross your fingers on the outside.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
Yeah, And I think that's that's the scary part, right
because what Aller was like eighty nine point five percent
completion lan last week.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Like crazy completion.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
I think one thing that you were starting, like how
you started when you were talking the twenty nineteen team,
right when we pulled off the greatest like the best
game ever, like when we beat Penn State in twenty nineteen,
I think there's something to be said as a team
having guys that were either on that team or recruited
about that team, or like knew about that team. There's
an aura when you beat a team like that. I
(14:50):
think there's a confidence as a team where you're like, oh,
we're not scared of these guys, we've beat them before.
I just I feel like when you're on a team
like that, like that's how we felt against like a
Michigan State when they had like Bell and Kirk Cousins
and all those guys.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Yeah, you're not scared of them. It's just I think
there's a different there's a.
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Different feeling going against a Penn State like this, where
they don't feel like the Michigan Like what you were saying,
they don't feel that way, and they don't.
Speaker 13 (15:12):
But we should confirm. This would be his This would
be historic win. That was a number five Penn State
team and a great Penn State team. But the last
time Minnesota at home won a game like this is
nineteen seventy seven against a number one Michigan team. The
last time we had a win bigger than this would
(15:33):
be in nineteen ninety nine at number two Penn State.
So the program has had success against Penn State, but
this would be this. You know, I think you know
everyone because we set it up. You know, we've talked
all year. The Penn State struggled early, so we've kind
of talked down about Penn State.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Well they've crept up. They have their painfulmentum.
Speaker 13 (15:50):
So this would be an elite win and I love
that Sas talked about it before really quickly. They do
tend to lose some random games. But that being said,
since twenty sixteen, remove the COVID year, kind of an
odd year since twenty sixteen, and remove Michigan and remove
Ohio State, there's sixty six and three. Oh my god,
(16:12):
it's like Illinois, West Virginia and pitt They just they
they they've you know, against unranked teams ranked, unranked teams ranked. Okay,
so they don't. So this is they usually put away
the people they should. Yeah, you know they they tend
to lose those games, which I think what is what
you know, Meat Sauce was saying they have had those
(16:32):
losses to like a number twenty four Illinois.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Yeah, that makes more sense.
Speaker 13 (16:36):
But when they play unranked teams under James Franklin, they
do put them oy. What James Franklin hasn't done is
he hasn't had a great victory against the two big games,
and he hasn't had great success against of ranked opponents. Yeah,
but these types of teams, his history is he puts
them OI. So there're a lot needs to change. But
I think again, you've had two weeks prepare. It's a
(16:58):
quick passing game. If the if it's not there, just
like Tanner did in ninety nine, you tuck it and run.
It's a difficult game, but it's it's doable, but you
have to be.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
At your best. Ben. Have you seen Penn State play
all this year? Not really?
Speaker 10 (17:11):
I mean, well, what was the big game that they played?
We actually had money on that game and I'm like,
I'll take State. I'm like, God, I will never put
money on Penn.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
State big games.
Speaker 10 (17:22):
Remember you ricked him, I remember, So, I mean, sample
size is small. They always seem to falter in big games. Now,
whether they consider this a big game quote unquote big
game for them, I don't know, but I mean, I
would love I would love to see I think Franklin
is one of the more overrated coaches in the league.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
So I'd love to see him get beat. So go
go first. Thank you, Ben God. It feels good, doesn't
it kind of not really, that's fine. It's just the
lesser of the two evils.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
No.
Speaker 7 (17:52):
I was gonna say, we everyone, if you get a
chance to watch Wash this tight end like he is
something special, like first rounder, guarantee, first rounder, top five.
Speaker 13 (18:03):
Yeah, it's very odd to see an offense run through
the tight end.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
The offense runs through the tight end, It's crazy. It's
very rare to watch it.
Speaker 13 (18:11):
One time in my life, which was watching Jimmy Klein
saucer at You and d playing North Kota State was
the only time in my life I saw a tight
end dominated football game.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
This is the type of guy that can dominate football games.
It's crazy, it's fun to watch. It's different. It's just different.
It's really cool. All right.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
We can talk more college football in a second at
the the Gopher Penn State game one more time. But
we can also look around the world of college football.
We can get to some other stuff. Ben Lieber is here,
Tommy Olsen is here, Fargo Flash is here. This is
the Power Trip morning show on the fan.
Speaker 3 (18:47):

Speaker 6 (20:07):
All right, normally this time we do the news presented
by Carboni's Pizza.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Thanks Carboni's Pizza.
Speaker 6 (20:12):
But on Thursdays we uh kind of turn Carboni's Pizza
news segment into football because the flash is still here for.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
One more Tommy's got like another one and.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
A half segments or so, so let's go around the
old college football world, shall we.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Let's do it well, so we got a flash worth
watching this weekend.
Speaker 13 (20:28):
Turn well, first of all, tomorrow night, and I'm gonna
have to get this connected to.
Speaker 5 (20:32):
Hawk to make sure we agree because it's a big one.
It's a big one. That's a big one.
Speaker 13 (20:36):
So we're gonna start with high school, right, So tomorrow night,
undefeated Maple Grove minus fifteen and a half oh.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
That's too many versus no te shift, no.
Speaker 13 (20:53):
List right here, Tom right here.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Wow, right here my squad draft flash kings. Okay, so
maple Grove hasn't lost. There, I haven't lost. Bennataka had
him a couple about a month ago.
Speaker 13 (21:06):
Minnetaka jumps out to a fourteen year old lead Maple
Grove within four minutes completely turn that over. So they
are the heavy favorite.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
That being said, anything can happen.
Speaker 13 (21:16):
Minnttauka's playing well, it's kind of a ball control, clock control.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
You know.
Speaker 13 (21:21):
The last week the quarterback had thirty nine carries. The
quarterback for three hundred yards.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Oh just three hundred yards. Yes, year Grove do for
an offense like perstyle, this little pro stylic.
Speaker 13 (21:31):
But they have a good running back. I think he's
going to North Dakota, so they like the ground and pound.
Who's been kind of injured throughout the year, but right
now I think he's healthy. So by far, the greatest
thing is the two best teams by far in six
A made it to the championship game.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
They did what they needed to do, so a great
game tomorrow night. Okay, but this is this is I mean,
it's almost too bad.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Chris isn't here because that is Hawk's spot, right, Maple
Grove versus Sauces Minnetonka, Yeah, Sauce.
Speaker 8 (21:58):
Yeah, what happened? I think Minnetonka wins, but I don't.
Dinah's my team? Am I going?
Speaker 12 (22:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Is now your two B team?
Speaker 12 (22:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (22:11):
I have two teams now. My Dinah Hornets are done,
which you know, great season. We're proud of them. But
my real squad, Minutetaka is crushing people. So go Skippers.
So will you take the bet if A wants it?
Speaker 5 (22:25):
No, I'm not giving him fourteen and fifteen. You're getting
fifteen half. Thanks for listening.
Speaker 8 (22:32):
I was listening. That was a test you all passed. Yeah,
I take yeah for sure.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Yeah yeah, I'll.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Take Tanka plus fifteen and a half. Y Tonkin's a machine,
So take the bet. You're gonna win your money. You
wake up and you watch actually.
Speaker 13 (22:51):
Game Day in Big newon both both at Columbus.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
That's sweet. And this is this is I think, you know,
kind of shaping up for the gaming the year in
the Big ten. So how often does that happen? This
second second? They just a couple of weeks ago. I
think Penn State Ohio State. Isn't it when Fox has
the game and then ESPAN will come. Isn't that usually
what they do? I'm not sure. I think they're just
they're usually picking the best game. Right.
Speaker 13 (23:14):
So this week we have number five Indiana at number
two Ohio State. It's a huge spread, right, it'sn't like
twelve and a half points thirteen and a half.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
That just shocks me.
Speaker 13 (23:23):
But again in the Indiana, which you know had Kurt
Signetti year one, he got a ginormous extension last week,
nine million dollars over their eight years.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Deserves every penny. Curtis Rourke, his quarterback.
Speaker 13 (23:37):
Needs to have a huge day. This is against This
is a very different opponent, right. They haven't played any
ranked teams, have they haven't played on the road in
a hostile environment.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
So this is his chance.
Speaker 13 (23:47):
He actually played there two years ago as a quarterback
for Ohio and got absolutely destroyed. So he gets a
chance to go back with the better school, with better
teammates around him.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
And I think the difference in this game, and I
know if you guys saw it is.
Speaker 13 (24:01):
In practice on Saturday or sorry, on Tuesday, the starting
center for goes down with the achilles out for the year.
Massive loss, so the so they're banged up. They also
lost about a month before that. They're starting left tackle.
And then your guy Will Howard, the transfer from Kansas State.
(24:22):
Numbers are really good. But again, if you look back
at their big game, he struggled against Penn State. So
I think in this game it's you know the points
for sure, you take Indiana, But I like the magical season.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
I just think Kurt Signetti. You gave him two weeks
to prepare.
Speaker 13 (24:37):
Their defensive line has actually had eighteen pressures of the
last three games, so they're gonna find a way.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
To pressure Will Howard.
Speaker 13 (24:45):
Put him in tough situations, have him turn over the football,
and I think, I think this Saturday kicks off with
a big win.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
I think Indiana pulls it off. I really do. I
do too.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
I think so if if Ohio State loses, though, are
they still in the playoffs. Yeah, ten and two got
to ge past Michigan next week. But yeah, then then
Michigan becomes really important. Yeah, okay, what do you guys?
So the Indiana d lineman, he's the detackle. I forget
his name, but he's like the highest rated defensive player
(25:15):
they have he's picked time. So that's massive loss that center.
I think that center, that's a huge loss.
Speaker 13 (25:20):
Well, and they're a very unique defensive line because and
you know this better than anyone in the room, when
they get when they're in a set, they're number one.
They run dozens of different kind of sets, right, and
they're so and then they're moving around on this before
the snap precint so they're confusing offensive lines with different fronts,
they're moving players to different positions, they're coming from different angles.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
So they think of that as a center what he
has to be doing this right, and he's the backup,
so he's not used.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
To making all these calls. That's a massive massive and
he's a huge story. And you found out on Wednesday
or you're right where he's usually just not having to
like really pay attention that much.
Speaker 13 (25:54):
We all know you've the in that week of practice.
Wednesday's like the last real day to get it going.
The rest of us just mental reps. So I think
it's a massive loss. Huge, And so I like Indie,
I like the Dream Season. I think really I think
what Signett's doing for real, and like straight up even points,
just straight up, straight up.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
I really don't with you. I would in the shoot.
I'll take Ohio State teams with the confidence State doesn't
have confident anymore. I'll take the Ohio State wealthiest roster
in the history of football. Anybody want to action? Let
me see, I'll take the points. That's the point.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
If you if you don't money, sure, Indiana's plus three seventy,
so it would be sauce is three hundred and seventy.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Dollars a year, one hundred. Sure, I'll take that. Is
Ohio State good? Where seventy? Indiana's plus three seven, I'll
just give you the thirteen and a half.
Speaker 8 (26:55):
Yeah, I'll give you the thirteen and a half hundred bucks.
I'm in and deal.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
I think that's a great play.
Speaker 13 (27:00):
So then we have the Gopher game, right, So we
watched the Gophers pull off the biggest upset maybe on Saturday,
which will predict that before I run off here. And
then the last game of the day, which is Ben
and I's big big pick for the week, an undefeated
Army team. I love our US Army team, and I
love our US Army for projecting.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
You don't have to put that out there. And versus
number six notre Dame. It's not at Notre Dame. It's
actually at Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 13 (27:27):
And so this is a This game has ginormous implications
on the college football playoff. And here's why Notre Dame
has to win this game. A Notre Dame lost to Army,
they're out, and an Army win puts them in the
AAC Championship game versus Tulane. They win that game, they
jump ahead of b BYU. They're in or you know, so,
(27:49):
they're in as the fifth highest rated conference. Army Army
and this and again a couple of weeks ago, Notre
Dame just smokes Navy. And I think there's thoughts that, oh,
you know, Navy, Army, they're kind of the same thing.
They're not their offenses, their teams are built very differently.
This is a really good Army football team. And again
(28:11):
neutral neutral field. Yeah, you know, lots of confidence. I
think we've always said this. When you play these teams,
their schemes are so unique you can't really prepare for
them in twenty weeks twenty hours of practice.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Doesn't Army? They just run the ball? Right? Is that
the team? That's all they do?
Speaker 14 (28:28):
Ye?
Speaker 5 (28:28):
Right, it's ball controlled but that might be.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
I mean playing at Yankee Stadium, a grass field that's huge.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Just run, just running right down the throat. It kind
of takes the speed out of the game for Notre Dame. Yeah,
so Ben has Ben. So here's what Ben has. Notre
Dame minus fifteen is what I'm showing. Fourteen and a half.
That's what I sent you. Well, I have a right
here on fourteen and a half. Army. All right, you're in.
(29:00):
You're taking thanks for protecting us, Army.
Speaker 13 (29:02):
So I have Army plus fourteen and a half, number
nineteen Army versus number six Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
And really quickly here here's what happens on Saturday.
Speaker 13 (29:10):
This is a game where it's going to have early slugfests.
Penn State's going to jump out to a lead ten zero,
and this is going to be a very different Gopher
team on Saturday. Because offensively, you have to stay on schedule,
which is really difficult to do. You have to be
great on first down, you have to be really good
on second down to set up makeable third downs. In
(29:31):
third and long teams do not convert against Penn State
it's something like ten percent of the time. So you
have to set up great first and second downs. You
do that with a very fast, a very quick throwing game.
It's not Max looking back and making four or five reads.
It's like Tanner Morgan twenty nineteen. If you go back
to that game, it was one two, three throw and
if it wasn't there, it was Tanner tucked it and ran.
(29:53):
And that similar thing has to happen this week, and
it will. There's enough separation with Daniel Jackson and Spencer
and even Darius Taylor out of the backfield. And then defensively,
we're going to sell out to stop a really good
running attack, and I think we're going to put Drew
Aller in positions where he's going to turn the football
over correct.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
So I think this is.
Speaker 13 (30:14):
A late final Gopher game for Gon Kassich walk off
fifty four yards Minnesota twenty six, Penn State twenty three.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Sweet. By the way, I saw a clip of Gersey's PJ.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Fleck Show with Pierre Newsham and Ron Johnson, and Flex
said something like.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
You know how awesome Max Brosmer has been.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
The program, but then said something like, you know, when
he gets to the NFL. I don't remember exactly how
he worded it, but he mentioned the NFL, and I'm like,
I hadn't really heard anybody talk Max Brozmer NFL. Sure,
I'm sure he'll go to the combine and said, does.
Speaker 7 (30:52):
He have an outside chance of playing NFL football or
what kind of probability are.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
We looking at for at the next level?
Speaker 13 (31:00):
If I'm a quarterback in Power five football, the greatest
thing that ever happened to me was pretty right. And
you know, we said this a couple of years ago.
When you look at Tanner Morgan and Brock similar make
makeup in terms of physical their numbers are very similar,
So anything can happen. He's the type of guy that
I think gets himself into camp. Does he hang around
(31:21):
as a number three? Does he get in as a
practice squad guy? You know, I think a year ago
the Vikings called up Tanner Morgan three or four times
to come throw footballs during the week because they had
no one around. Right, So he is the type of
guy that I think can get his chance. And then
once he gets there, and we saw this year, right,
the game speeds up, the windows are they shrink, they
(31:42):
get they're more narrow. Can you make those throws and
that's really what I think will be the opportunity for him.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
But I think he's played.
Speaker 13 (31:50):
This year with you know, for the most part, he's
been highly efficient and has shown enough arm strength at
time where I think he gets his chance.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
But he's the type of guy.
Speaker 13 (32:00):
He's kind of a borderline practice squad.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
He'll be a rookie free agent.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
Six years in college helps him too, Like all the
defensive Ye, what's that test been though? That party basically
aced that, Uh, that reaction in their processing process.
Speaker 10 (32:15):
It's not the wonder like, it's the it's the newer one. Yeah,
why am I? I'm blanking on that.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Yeah, you were the one that brought it up a
couple of years ago because they were saying that the
Brock thing was more predictable. Once you realize that his
process seems.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
To faster, and that's what PJ says about you.
Speaker 13 (32:31):
He can process information that more quickly than any quarterback
he's had.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Then maybe he has a chance. Yeah, God, it's great.
We'll see.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
Be curious to see what that score is if if
those ever you know, what help works.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
Is they go out and destroy Penn State. All right.
Speaker 13 (32:44):
By far, his biggest test of the year so if
he can go up against this strong secondary, this pressure
filled defensive line, and make some great throws.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
He just can't look like a deer in headlights. Right, yeah,
he's got looking Saturday. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:57):
You know, like comedians do jokes just for cheap applause, right,
and you're like, that was an easy joke. But I
just wanted the easy reaction. And Tommy, here's my prediction.
Penn State gets smoked by the Gophers. Fifty two to ten. Hell, yeah,
it's great, you love it, right, Yeah, I'm actually fifty
five to ten.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Yes, why are you saying this? I just wanted to
see what you did. Yes, the best. But think about it.
If we do, like think, oh great, that would be Saturday.
It's not happen. Imagine if it was fifty eight to ten.
You get it. You see clearly, I'm gotta go the
I forget.
Speaker 8 (33:30):
I have a little workdot Okay, all right, big boy, jock, Tommy.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
I love you guys.
Speaker 4 (33:35):

Speaker 6 (36:19):
Jan What do you think of a beardless sauces? As
Grim and Tommy said earlier, the human version of Shrek,
right when Shrek turns into a man.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
It's almost dead on.
Speaker 12 (36:30):
Tom, it was not a rip. Okay, I'm gonna be
honest with you. Go ahead, fire away, you always are.
I think you look more mature with facial hair.
Speaker 10 (36:42):
Yeah, no, I I think there's there's a there's a
young uh what's the right word, chrubish.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Look to you? Rubish? What's having? Yeah, that's a little
like juvenile and babyish?
Speaker 10 (36:54):
Yeah, and I think that you need some sort of
facial hair sauce.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
Let me let me piggyback on what and just said,
you know my general take on what I think.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Of you and your level of awareness and attention to detail. Correct. Yeah,
it's horse bleed. He's right.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
This looks like you're walking around. Your face just screams,
I don't know what I'm doing here or I'm lost.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
Help, Right, I'm saying this Bend's right.
Speaker 6 (37:20):
It does make you look even more innocent and lost
in cherubic or as you I think said cherubic.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Is that what you said?
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Yeah, sure, yeah, it does give you a little extra youth,
But you.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
Do look more confused, if that's even possible. Well, thank you, you.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Do kind of you look like kind of like what
if a kid in a movie wishes themselves to be older?
Speaker 5 (37:43):
That that?
Speaker 8 (37:44):
Yeah, so I trimmed my beard. Uh huh you know
and no, no, no, no, like she's at home, she's safe,
and I trimmed it and it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
I missed a few spots. We know, we know story
Ben gets it.
Speaker 8 (38:02):
It was an accident and face shrimmed off my sideburns
on accident. So then I'm was like, I can do this.
So then I would wear a hood to cover him up.
And then I'm like, this looks ridiculous. So then I
shaved my whole face. But I hate it. I wish
I had my beard back. The good thing is it'll
go back fast.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
And I hope because it looks hideous.
Speaker 6 (38:22):
Like if you went out, if you went out in
the cold right now and just stood on a street
corner and when people walk by, if you just go,
do you know where the post office is? That would
feel very right, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Just people that are lost and confused, right, And if
they said why are you mailing something?
Speaker 6 (38:38):
You would just say no, I just want to know
where the post office is. That's the kind of face
you're projecting you like the guy who pretends to be
Michael Jackson and the Simpsons. I don't get that reference.
I get that, you know, no fa over my bald head.
Speaker 8 (38:52):
Yeah, okay, anyway, sports, Uh, the worst password clue of
all time? Chris won the cy Young. The only person
who didn't vote for him Lavelli, Neil, Neil?
Speaker 5 (39:05):
How about that? How about that? So Tariq's scooball is that?
Speaker 7 (39:08):
He said?
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Right?
Speaker 12 (39:09):
Good?
Speaker 5 (39:10):
No, So Scooball.
Speaker 6 (39:11):
Was was unanimous in the AL but in the NL
Chris sail from the Braves twenty nine out of thirty
first place votes and the only one was not level. Yeah,
so Lavell kept Sale from being unanimous.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
How about that? Damn it?
Speaker 12 (39:24):
Lovelle has he responded twenty five years to the date
that he didn't vote for Pedro Martinez the only he
would have been unanimous as well, but Lavell legitimately didn't
vote for him.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
Yeah, what's and what's Lavell said about this? So far?
I don't is he publics on the sitting there? I
don't think so. I don't follow him on Twitter. He's
been mad at me for years. I don't know why. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (39:46):
Uh we twelve starts tonight with the Steelers at the Browns.
At seven fifteen. The Steelers are three and a half
point favorites. The only the over under, excuse me, is
thirty five and a half.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
Good to know, thank you. That's low.
Speaker 6 (39:58):
DraftKings says it is thirty si him, but still anything
we talked about this a week or so ago, anything
in the mid to high thirties for the NFL is
pretty low.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
Well that's Steelers, that's Steelers. Defense is great. Yeah, yeah,
really good.
Speaker 8 (40:09):
They confuse the hell and like the whole thing now
with Baltimore, who they beat last year or last week.
I think they have now beat like four out of
five times or six out of something like that. The
one thing that everybody's complaining about is when they needed
that two point conversion?
Speaker 5 (40:23):
Why is Derrick Henry not in the game right? Just
as a decrease? Yeah, yeah, problem a defensive player. I
have my eyes on him.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Right because you know, faked and then like, yeah, it's
probably going to be a tonight then, but even if
it's not. Pittsburgh is eight and two, so Mike Tomlin
is just one went away from securing yet another above
five hundred season.
Speaker 5 (40:44):
He's one of the greatest. Yeah, edible, man, he's so good.
You know, it's crazy.
Speaker 10 (40:48):
So you're talking about you were talking about the over
under on that game, right you really is a Vikings game?
Speaker 5 (40:54):
Is only three pups? You a ten points higher?
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (40:57):
Yep, thirty nine and a half is the over under
for the Chicago game.
Speaker 8 (41:00):
Hey, we brought this up, I think earlier in the week.
I don't think you were here, Ben. How about there
are some hot runners that Kevin Stefanski may be out
in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
I think that's so Papa same. He's a two time
coach of the Year.
Speaker 10 (41:14):
Yeah, and I think everybody realizes that it wasn't him
doing the making the final call on the worst trade
or worst acquisition in sports history.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
Unbelievable. He can't take the heat for that. No, No,
you cannot.
Speaker 8 (41:31):
Still years as the Gophers battle Penn State, we talked
about it tomorrow at two or Saturday, excuse me at
two thirty pregame At twelve thirty, the Gophers are six
and four, Penn State is nine and one, and they
are around a eleven and a half the twelve point favorite.
The wild battle the Oilers tonight at eight right here
on the fan, the Wild are twelve three and three.
(41:52):
They have twenty seven points in eighteen games. It's like
their best start ever. The Oilers are ten eight and two.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
That's incredible that this is their best start of all
time in the season with I mean, I don't keep
up with the Wild, but this has got to be
had all time low expectations coming into the season, right
are close to all the time, Like nobody had super
high hopes coming into the season.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
I think it's I think it's very similar to the Vikings.
Speaker 8 (42:18):
I just thought that, you know, they've got a couple good,
really good players, but the superstar that they have is
shine very bright, right, and that that'll help any team.
Speaker 4 (42:26):
The only the thing I could argue, though, max O,
the reason why I don't think they're like the Vikes
is I think people thought this they could fight for
a playoff spot, right. The Vikings had an overrunder of
six and a half.
Speaker 6 (42:38):
You're not fighting for a playoff spot if you're projected
to have six and a half wins. I think the
ceiling for the while was like, we could probably sneak in,
but we don't have a team that can do anything
now you have a schedule front loaded with road games,
and you're off to the best start in franchise history.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
Right. They are twelve three and three, and eleven of those.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
Games have been on the road already. Wow, and tonight's
game is on the road.
Speaker 5 (42:59):
Think about it. So they're just kicking everyone's ass.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
They have one regulation loss on the road, think about it.
That's insane. That's a super fantastic start. So good luck
to the while tonight at eight o'clock. I think that
game's right here on the fan, but I don't have
the schedule. Oh whenever, Yeah, tells me what's going on.
Speaker 8 (43:16):
Maxo, your nerves battle Toronto tonight at six point thirty.
Your Wolves are eight and six. Toronto, they are three
and twelve. Your Minnesota Timberwolves are seven and a half
point favorites.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Yeah, and they should be. The Toronto is one of
the worst teams in the NBA. I think they have
the fourth worst defense in all of the NBA. But
it's kind of been a bizarro season for the Wolves
thus far. They've beaten teams like the Kings and like
the Nuggets, but have struggled against the lesser team. So
this is I guess you could call this a chap game,
and it's unfortunate we have to worry about this kind
of stuff with the timber Wolves again. But Anthony Edwards,
(43:52):
he says it all the time and that they can't
play down to their opponents. So he's got to live
up to his words tonight, and they should absolutely smoke
that Toronto Raptors team that is.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
Miserable and a bunch of their good players are out. Yeah,
it's I mean, it's set up for the Wolves to win.
They just got up. They just got to play to
their level.
Speaker 8 (44:08):
Is that like two years ago, Max Ow where they
would lose to like Houston.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
Yeah, they would lose the teams like Houston and San
Antonio and Detroit.
Speaker 5 (44:16):
I think they lost to Detroit twice.
Speaker 4 (44:17):
And then a couple of years ago, and that's kind
of been the problem again. I mean they lost to
the Butler List heat and twice to the Trailblazers. Don't
win tonight, Yeah, they should win tonight. They just got
to They just got to be themselves. A couple of
NFL things are run by Ben Leber and Tom Pela Sero,
and we do Vikings news and talk to Tom Pelo
Saro after this from the NFL network right here on
the Power Taiir warning shoe on the fan.
