just I'm freezing all the time. I didn't realize.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Man, winter is here. Yeah, and it looks like it's
here to stay. Hey man, freeing on cool?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Do do do big article about Josh mntell us today
in the Athletic or.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
As Fox Sports called some medalists medalists.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I heard that they then for a band later in
the broadcast, but at first there.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
But Josh medalists.

Speaker 6 (01:07):
We are medalists.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
It's an interesting kids.

Speaker 7 (01:11):
Hey hogs, What that's elite liquorice everybody over here loves.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Yeah, that's that's impressive.

Speaker 6 (01:17):
I got the uh, what's it called.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
Whizzlers orange cream cream are really good?

Speaker 6 (01:23):
Yeah, they're good. I like them better than chuckles.

Speaker 8 (01:25):
Those are fighting words. Now, you know Marnie two apologies.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, well, well we'll.

Speaker 8 (01:30):
See what she thinks of these. Did she say the
other day that she liked these two or just mentioned
that they exist?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I remember her take on these. I don't know if
you don't think you know about these. I think we
found these when we were on the old Amazon.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
I think she can be happy, good good, that'd be new.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Meaning.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
I mean, Marty, m are we doing news.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Let's get to the news, the news. Marnie should be
here in a second or two.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
This is Camp News with Chris Hockey.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
So some guy got up on some flight decided he
wanted to open the door. The passengers duct taped him
to his chair.

Speaker 9 (02:07):
There was no time. He was two feet from the door.
It was just chaos. He was going for the door,
and so I just grabbed the guy from behind and
kept him from pulling the thing on the door. You know,
we're on our knees holding him down.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
All right.

Speaker 8 (02:23):
So isn't the thing though, Chris, you you seem like
you would know this isn't it Like, based on the pressure,
you can't actually open that door, right, But.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
I'm pretty sure you cannot. It's just the fact that
he was trying is alarming.

Speaker 8 (02:34):
That he's willing to try, even though it might be
physically impossible to actually get it open.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
In flight duct tape they probably have such down on
the plane in case something happens. I don't know, but
class the duct taped him, he's lucky didn't get the
piss kicked out of him a lot more. I mean,
that's a free for all right there. You're never getting
in trouble for beating the hell out of a guy
that's trying to potentially bring down a plane.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
It's like to work.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
I've seen an airplane when there's a group of people
waiting with different weapons.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Yeah, man, why am I blanket on the the undercover people?
What are they called again? Air marshals? Thank you for
God's sakes.

Speaker 8 (03:13):
You wonder how fast that person had to expose themselves
as the air marshal and.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Just throw the person trying to open the door.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
If you don't sit down, take.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
This out, I'm going to put this in you excuse me.

Speaker 8 (03:26):
Whipped this out and then he whipped out duct tape
and it wasn't quite as fun at.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
That point too. He's probably like, it looks like they
have this under control. I don't see any weapons, yeah, exactly,
just body shots.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah, body I don't know.

Speaker 8 (03:41):
Like, as a passenger, I want to know that my
air marshal, my undercover air marshal that if some guy
tries to open the door, that's the That is my baseline,
Like I want you to stand up and go all right,
this is part of my job. It's not just if
they go for the cockpit, if they go for the door,
I have to stand.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Up and do something.

Speaker 8 (04:00):
If that person's on the flight, what are they there for?
If that's not one of the options, but its beat
that guy to death, that's yeah, correct, people are not
and then duc taking to a chair or something. Oh
that's terrifying.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I just saw, by the way, when I was looking
through my news that Chicago got like four inches of
snow yesterday.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
But it's gonna be fifty one on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Yeah, it shouldn't be bad. Right, All the snow here
is basically gone from this stuff. We had a couple
of days to get appen.

Speaker 8 (04:25):
Is this did I hear right the other day that
Monday might be our next chance at snow and then
maybe a little on Wednesday?

Speaker 6 (04:31):
Is or something I can take a look here.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
I don't thought that's what I heard. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, ten day for Minneapolis St. Paul am snowshowers on.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Monday, Monday, it's sweet. And then hopefully that's it.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
That's enough.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Man, we got high of apps, high of eighteen? Next Friday?

Speaker 5 (04:49):
What is it? Thursday twenty five?

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Okay, I'll be fine for the smoker, Yeah, smoke those turkeys?

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Is that's coming over?

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Wow? Wow? Greasy?

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:07):
Kiss me? Oh yeah, there is what temperature you want?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
An international team of scientists. That sounds like something from
like a like a superhero movie.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
An international team of scientists say they found a previously
unknown compound in US drinking water. Study published in the
Journal of Science says the compound forms from the decomposition
of disinfectants that are used to protect people from diseases
like cholera and typhoid. Their toxicity toxicity is still unknown,
but researchers express concern about how widespread they are and

(05:43):
theirs similarities to other substances that pose risks.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
What a cool accidental transition.

Speaker 8 (05:47):
Because Sauce has been working on his RFKJ and your impression,
this is the perfect time to unfurl it.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Go, I've never heard that man speak. Doesn't he talk
like this?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Wait a minute, how do you say I've never heard
that man speaking? In imediately?

Speaker 7 (06:02):
Of course you've heard him talk time out restart. I
wasn't listening, and I thought I heard something else, and
then I got it.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
What part were you listening?

Speaker 5 (06:13):
You said I've never heard a great shopping lady.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
I wasn't thinking that.

Speaker 8 (06:25):
Die, You know, I have never I've never seen Seinfeld
ever once do stand up?

Speaker 5 (06:30):
And I always ask myself, what are the.

Speaker 8 (06:32):
News these people going to see Seinfeld?

Speaker 9 (06:36):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (06:36):
No, I mean I didn't know. I mean I made
a mistake. I apologize.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
That's where you have to then just kind of say
could you repeat that? And then that's while you're thinking.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Good point. Okay, now that you clearly have heard.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
Him, everything in our water is bad?

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Isn't that how he talks? You tell me you've been
working on the impression. Go, my name's are Gay Junior.

Speaker 8 (07:01):
You're just being a robot like robot. Yeah, you're Johnny
five from Short Circuit. That's four good one, the best.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Of the Johnny by the way, thank you, and Rockies. Yeah,
I'm sitting right here.

Speaker 8 (07:16):
Oh, I don't know why I make a Short Circuit
reference when we talk Robots, that's an almost forty.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Year old movie that nobody cares what you gonna do.
I like that.

Speaker 8 (07:25):
There's got to be other robots in the last don't
think of four decades that have been noteworthy in film
and TV?

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Right, what do we do?

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Wally?

Speaker 8 (07:34):
And I'm just saying, there, Wally's better we got. I
was kind of go through my brain. I'm like, if
I don't do Short Circuit, what's next? And I was
gonna say Rosie from The Jetsons, that's also like seventy
years old.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Pull your hands up. She cleans that mouth looks slam
shut too hard. No.

Speaker 8 (07:53):
Wow, I hadn't thought of it that long, but apparently
I have.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Yeah, your Mike's on Hawk.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
I've never I've never, not once, never seen the Jetsons.
But I used to love when the Jetsons would like
get into like fun family adventures or like when George
would go to spaceley sprockets and stuff.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
I would I love those episodes. Never seen it.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Did you see the side when he went to Amsterdam
in the future?

Speaker 8 (08:20):
Yeah? Yeah, Hey, y Jackson, I don't think I've ever
heard that man's dog like you didn't even take a breath.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Yeah, no, I'm full of dive cochd.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
It was like the The Chappelle Show a bit where
where he's sitting there. Oh, I'm blanking on the name,
my goodness, Rick James. Rick James is like, are you crazy?
I would never do something like that. Yeah, I did that,
like Bill without even taking a breath. Saucero wonders.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
The family of a Canadian man who died any pool
site incident is suing the ex Caliber Hotelling casino.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
The sixty year old Paul Nakashima.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Died in June or twenty twenty three when he slipped
on the steps of the court pool and hit his
head in the shallow water.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
He died the next day.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
The lawsuit says lifeguards and pool staff failed to take
immediate and proper action. The lawsuit also claims negligence and
inadequate safety measures.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
So so, Chris, you're telling me.

Speaker 8 (09:28):
That quality assurance that Excalibur is less than the standard.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
When you wear on a suit of armor, it's hard
to dive into the water to save somebody.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Lucky you didn't get eaten by the alligators in the moat.
And usually these things, when you're walking in there, you
assume all risk.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yeah, of course that's what I would think, right, Yeah,
it's sad. That's terrible.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I mean, especially the EXCaliber. Right.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
I feel like when I walk in there, I'm taking
the risk of catching an airborne disease by just breathing.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Right, everybody should know that.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
No, you're not allowed in there anymore.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
No, no, no.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
So I spent like eight hours there last year and
had a great time. Roulette Wheel Thunder from down under.
Your MIC's on bronk stay between us. Got Tim bought
front row tickets.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
He bought two so we could layout yick.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Over sixty five hundred organizations will benefit from Give to
the Max Day in Minnesota. Special day of Giving generated
just over thirty seven million dollars in donations yesterday. Over
three hundred and thirty million dollars has been raised through
the events since two thousand and nine.

Well done, everybody, awesome.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Give it the Max was yesterday. Whoops, you can.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
Still give today. If you'd like.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Yeah, but I wanted to give to the MAX right now,
I would just give to the men.

Speaker 6 (10:51):
Well he was one day, yeah right.

Speaker 8 (10:53):
The good news for those of us like me that
forgot that yesterday was give to the Max day. Rosie
had us covered, so we did for sure, So don't
worry about it. He gave to the Max works.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Every single one of them. Yeah. Bye.

Speaker 7 (11:03):
By the way, person, you have a huge tab at
the local charity.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
I hope he's thirsty.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
At least write this one on brilliant well played.

Speaker 8 (11:13):
Speaking of tab, that's the only soa they serve at
the Excalibur in Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
My dad love. That's another reason not to go, of course,
sac knows anyway.

Speaker 6 (11:28):
See if I care about anything else going on in
the news, sick of the bad news, need some good news,
some good news, Yeah, trying.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Everybody's excited about the Wicked Box Office. We talked to
doctor Z. Doctors.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
Doctor Z got.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
His degree where it's it's important you guys know this.
He's a doctor of love specialized in US. Jesus are
you talking to over there?

Speaker 5 (11:57):
I'm talking to the Lord.

Speaker 6 (12:00):
Turkey.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Is among several Thanksgiving items that will be cheaper this year.
A new reports shows prices for several Thanksgiving items, including
punkin pot, frozen peas, and sweet taters I've dropped since
twenty twenty three. Thirty prices have also decreased by six percent. Turkey, everybody,
everybody have Turkey is in by dewhand?

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Oh yeah yeah? Smoker, yeah yeah, in the gravy.

Speaker 6 (12:21):
What sorry?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Now in the gravy. The gravy is sweet.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
I thought you were singing YMCA.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Or not if you do them right? Yeah, in the gravy.
I could get you to like him. You get me
to like anything because I like you. Kiss me? What's
going on the way? Yeah? No, kiss him? See if
you like it? He says. You said he can get
you to like anything. Give it a shot.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
Yeah, here's that pinky.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
You're looking for a new smoker, are.

Speaker 9 (12:47):
You, zach Spree?

Speaker 5 (12:50):
Yeah? Uh.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
And finally, there's a weight loss drug that now may
also help uh decrease the chances of heart failure. A
trial involving the drug zep bound found that patients saw
improvements and how far they could walk in a big
drop in a marker used to measure inflammation and predict
risk of serious heart events. There are mild side effects

(13:17):
being reported, but zep bound is like we GOVI and ocempics.
So these drugs man that they figured out and doctor
doctor Zach told us when he was in here last time,
they're finding all kinds of different things that these drugs
are good for.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
And that's a terrible name, terrible name. Uh, that's a
terrible name name, Rosie Jetson.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
So that's the news.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Saw.

Speaker 8 (13:46):
So you were going to say something or not, I'm
not gonna hang on. You had a question, didn't you.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
No? I didn't. Yeah you had something.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
I didn't.

Speaker 8 (13:53):
Yeah, you had something. And now you know that what
you were going to ask or say is ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
And now you backed up.

Speaker 7 (13:58):
I did the verbal version of a check swing, which
is no, I don't swing through swing away Mary. No, No,
We're just gonna try, not going to break until you
say what you were going to say come out. I
was going to say something like who came up with that?
Somebody said, who came up with the name of that drug?

(14:18):
But I couldn't think of anything with a Z. So
I didn't come up with anything.

Speaker 8 (14:22):
What I didn't even understand that sentence, right, somebody I
speak translate for us, what what did he What is
he trying to claim?

Speaker 4 (14:30):
He was in the process of thinking of a punchline
of the person who would have came up with, but
he couldn't think of anything that started with a Z
or had a Z in it, so he check swung
decided not to go.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
Okay, So but now you have time to think of
somebody with the Z. Try the joke so we can
kind of see where you were going with this. I
think Jason Zucker has a Z and is to say,
like Johnny Sins or.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Something that's a Johnny Sins. That's what I do. I
just default to an adult film actor that I didn't know.
Jason came up with a weight loss? Here yo?

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Is that that hard?

Speaker 5 (15:08):
This way zep or Brian's here we go?

Speaker 10 (15:12):
That's what baby yeah to being played off.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
I wish you were zep bound.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
I wish I there was a punchline.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
One are the time bound?

Speaker 6 (15:31):
That's the news. Let's go to IVY, shall we before.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
We do that? Though, Johnny k you gotta go on,
I gotta go. I love you guys very much.

Speaker 4 (15:37):

like Christ, let's go to Hivey time.

Yesterday the Fargo Flash was here of course because it

Speaker 5 (17:52):

Speaker 8 (17:56):
Yeah, Fargo Flash said minnetaka fifteen and a half point
dogs and saus that he would be willing to take
the fifteen and a half.

Speaker 6 (18:04):
No chance, that's too much, that's too many points.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
Can you guys settle on a number? Then?

Speaker 8 (18:08):
How many points would you be willing to give up?
Even even money? So let's go for it?

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Sure? How much? Jeez? That was an easy negotiation. I mean,
I'm not good negotiating.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
Uh yeah, you already owe me a hundred I do, yep,
I'm just kidding.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
Yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
I was gonna say no, I was about to betting
one hundred straight up.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
Yeah, all right, straight though, just fifteen and a half
points wiped away.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Fantastic. I don't even think that's real, Fargo Flash, that
it is? When is he wrong?

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, Glen Perkins, I'm sorry. We have gambling problems.

Speaker 13 (18:40):
We'll we'll have a problems such of misfits in here, Perk.

Speaker 10 (18:44):

Speaker 5 (18:45):
I got good? I'm good.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Thank you guys for having me.

Speaker 14 (18:48):
It's good to be here bright and early in the morning,
and uh, the nurves haven't quite settled in yet, but
I know they will.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Yeah, yeah, it happens. Yeah, we got smelling cells for that.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Yeah, for sure. We're good with that.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Love it.

Speaker 6 (18:58):
Do you know the game?

Speaker 13 (18:59):
Then?

Speaker 2 (18:59):
I do know the game?

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Good?

Speaker 5 (19:01):
Are you good at the game?

Speaker 2 (19:03):
To find good?

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Like when you're listening in the car you get a
couple that kind of good? Yeah? Okay, yeah? Competitive?

Speaker 14 (19:10):
Yeah, I mean I think one is realistic. Who knows
what can happen? Right, I'm gonna be horribly embarrassed. Everybody
on my daughter's hockey team knows I'm doing this. I
have a group of pickleball friends that I play with.
They know that I'm on this morning, so there's a
lot of pressure on me.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Yeah, but we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
I hear you and Parish go back a little bit.
You guys know each other pretty well, right we do?

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (19:34):
We Yeah, we've known each other for a while and
in crosspaths here and there daughters in hockey.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
So good to see Perry this morning. And what about
that Gell. Well, now, this is the thing, this is
the thing.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Let anybody in here.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yeah, Tuesday, I'm.

Speaker 14 (19:50):
At an establishment down in Lakeville before my daughter's hockey game,
and one of the other hockey dad says, hey, I
heard Marty was talking crap about you on the air
this morning, Like, what do you What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I miss that? Yes, I'm Marnie, Hi, good morning.

Speaker 14 (20:08):
So I get the load on. I text Mary and said,
I catching I'm catching stray? Is this happens when I
can't defend myself. Corey Provis is really good at doing
this on air, And so Marnie did that. So now
I need to make sure that I beat her. But
I know that she's been playing really well.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (20:24):
I accept that.

Speaker 15 (20:28):
It's going to be fun today. Shutouts are okay. You
just you You were a good picture.

Speaker 10 (20:36):
So you just think about that.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (20:39):
What she was to say, like you your goal used
to be to shut out the table, to get a shutout. Yeah, way,
But now I think she's implying that you might get
shut out.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
I can I can handle failure. I can handle failure.
And you know what, I'm excited. I'm looking forward to.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
It'd be cool.

Speaker 8 (21:04):
It's take forty five minutes from now sas my guest
is Glenn wants to hear the sports and you're the
one that's going to deliver it to them.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
I can do it.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
That's how we're going to start it with you.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 11 (21:14):
The Fire five on the Power Trip presented by all
Around property presidents all Around.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
The Minnesota Wild beat the Oilers five three. The Wild
got goals from.

Speaker 7 (21:24):
Boldi, Felino, Johansson, and they got two from Gudreau. The
Wilder thirteen to three and three. They're one of the
best teams in the NHL.

Speaker 13 (21:33):
Perry, Yeah, they are one of the best teams the NHL.
They know what the rest of the NHL knows it.
The confidence that this squad has is so impressive. They
go out there, they know their game, they stick to
their game, they don't get rattled by much if anything.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
And that depth scoring has just been huge.

Speaker 13 (21:53):
You know, Gudro getting another two point two goals there,
He's Felino and Johansson. All the guys that we were
missing are scoring this year and they're doing it by committee.
You know, everybody's having their nights, uh, and it's sure
it's fun to watch our goalies are battling back there.
Gus obviously one of the best in the best in
the league. Wow, and Flowers still doing his thing, still

(22:14):
kicking around at geez, almost forty old timer.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
But yeah, no, while they're.

Speaker 13 (22:20):
Playing great, and they continue to play great, and you know,
shut down an Edmonton team like that. Anytime you can
beat an Edmonton team who a lot of experts have
picked to win the Stanley Cup this year.

Speaker 8 (22:29):
All right, So also have a question, Uh, you type
all of your sports notes into your phone. Did you
type into your phone they are one of the best
teams in the NHL?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
Or was that an ad lib? No? I wrote it.
I felt like you did.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
Based on the way that you said it, I felt
like you did type they are one of the.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
Best teams in the NHL.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
I wouldn't want to off the cuff something like that's.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
Got aerous. That's a good reminder, so he doesn't. Yeah,
so you don't forget to say that. That's fantastic.

Speaker 7 (22:58):
YEPI has now won the MVP Award unanimously three times,
but Aaron Judge yesterday also won, but it wasn't unanimous
because Lavelle.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Did not vote for Aaron Judge.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
So twenty nine out of thirty first place votes for
Aaron judge and Leavell didn't vote for me.

Speaker 5 (23:15):
No, I don't know what he's I don't know whatever.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Did he put Bobby Wit first?

Speaker 5 (23:19):
He probably did. Kansas City guy, he does do that sometimes.
He just liked to be contrarian. I don't know. Doesn't
go with the pack ever.

Speaker 7 (23:27):
Glenn, you played at Major League Baseball. I did the
best player ever? Yes, thank you. I said that, and
I got savaged a couple of not by these guys.

Speaker 8 (23:36):
He's no, no, no, not savage. He somebody who wrote me
a letter, handwritten letter and mailed it here to the
station with about thirty bullet points on why Sauce was wrong.
And that guy sent the same letter to me because
he knew Sauce would just throw it away, so he
wanted me to see the same stats. He's like, don't
let Paul get away with this anymore. Paul's dead wrong.
And it was Babe Ruth right that he was arguing

(23:56):
is the best and that show he's not even close
to any his categories toistically Babe Ruth.

Speaker 14 (24:03):
Adam out Ofvino said this a couple of years ago
when he was with the Yankees. Babe Ruth couldn't play
it in today's game. Let alone do what Shoeotani is doing.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
I just won. Why couldn't Babe play in this?

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Babe Ruth didn't see the velocity.

Speaker 14 (24:15):
He didn't see breaking balls the same, like the game
wasn't the same, Which is fine. There's nothing wrong with
being the best player in a different generation. But it's
my contention in every sport that that the best player
in the game is the best player of all time
because the games continue to elevate.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Well said, and.

Speaker 14 (24:37):
Just won the MVP unanimously without pitching, and he's when healthy.
One of the what three to five best pitchers in
the game.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
Also caught a break that Levell doesn't vote for NLM.

Speaker 14 (24:50):
What what we're seeing from show Hey is like is unprecedented.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
It's not even close. It's not even close.

Speaker 15 (24:56):
You don't even hesitate when sasas Juice the best player
of all time.

Speaker 14 (24:59):
You did even there is I haven't even seen him
play live, but you don't have to.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
So you got to cut up this MP three and
then email it to that guy that's intoed that letter.

Speaker 5 (25:10):
Show Hey.

Speaker 7 (25:11):
According to this quick Google search, is the only designated
hitter to win MVP full time. DH I didn't know that,
so he's even better than that. All he does is hit.

Speaker 14 (25:23):
Okay, Mars.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
The Wolves are eight and seven.

Speaker 7 (25:31):
They lost last night one ten to one oh five
to a terrible Raptors team who is four and twelve.
They haven't won there in twenty years. They haven't won
in Boston in a long time, and they played them Sunday.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Yeah, your thoughts.

Speaker 15 (25:44):
Well, they had lost nineteen in a row in Toronto,
now it's twenty they've lost seventeen in a row in Boston.
It was a bad loss last night and the Wolves
just did not play well. And it's yes, there is
reason for concern, and yes it's still early.

Speaker 10 (26:01):
But I think if you're a Wolves fan and you.

Speaker 15 (26:03):
Want to be frustrated right now, you have every right
to be because last night was a game where you
had off days on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

Speaker 10 (26:12):
I mean practice days whatever. Wednesday was a travel day.

Speaker 15 (26:15):
But that does not happen very often within the NBA
season to have three days with no game, and that's
what the Wolves had. And Chris Finch was saying, like,
we need to shore up parts of our defense and
this is.

Speaker 10 (26:27):
Gonna be great. We need to install a.

Speaker 15 (26:28):
Couple of principles or kind of sharpen things up, and
then that's the game you come out and play, and
that is concerning and there are things to figure out,
and there was sloppiness, there were so many turnovers and.

Speaker 10 (26:40):
Just not cohe what a mess.

Speaker 15 (26:43):
It is a mess right now. That's not saying there's
not time to turn it around. People were pointing out
the Dallas Mavericks last season were not title contending Dallas
Mavericks until after the All Star break and then they
just put the foot down and they rolled and something clicked.

Speaker 10 (26:59):
And the Wolves could very well be that. I mean
they might be.

Speaker 15 (27:02):
They might look like title contenders by Christmas, but right
now they do not.

Speaker 10 (27:08):
And it's a struggle and that was a bad loss
last night.

Speaker 6 (27:12):
Wanted to fire Finch.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
No, I did not. I did not say that. I
did not say that.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
I thought that's what coy No.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
I didn't say that. He wanted Tim Conley fire. Yes,
you also.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
Wanted Tim Conway fire.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
I believe he has passed away.

Speaker 8 (27:28):
Hours ago, Saws tweeted a firestorm of criticism towards the Timberwolves,
but specifically, trading Cat for two bad players is a
fireable offense.

Speaker 7 (27:37):
Hey, By the way, I've tweeted a lot of things
about the Minnesota Twins, and one of the PR guys
is sitting behind me. He knows it's all a joke,
and I'm just waiting for the right I bet he does.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
I'm sure Mitch loves your tweets.

Speaker 8 (27:49):
Yeah, sure, those are always fun where It's like when
you tweet boycott the Twins it was a joke.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
I'm sure Dust didn't mention everybody. It's so funny when
sast does one of his great jokes.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
The Gophers battle Penn State this Saturday at two thirty.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
Pre game at twelve thirty.

Speaker 7 (28:07):
The Gophers are six and four, Penn State is nine
and one, and they are about a twelve point favorite.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
Let's go super fun.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Yeah yeah, college Senior Day? Yeah? What was the one
game Hogs? Daddyrow? Yeah, get it while I was state
in Indiana? Yeah, how about that Hawk? Yeah? Now a
ten and a half point favorite, I think him at fourteen? Whoop?
And Louise, what happened? How did they? How did that
swing four points? Well? That's not good? All right? Well

(28:42):
stole more people money.

Speaker 7 (28:44):
Week twelve started with the Browns beating the Steelers. Twenty four, nineteen.
Chubb scored with fifty seven seconds left his second touchdo
under the.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
Day alligator his hand.

Speaker 7 (28:53):
The Steelers are eight and three, the Browns are the
exact opposite of three in eight and the Vikings Battle
of the Bears on the at noon pregium at ten.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
The Vikings have won three straight.

Speaker 7 (29:02):
There three and a half point favorites, Go Vikings Glenn.

Speaker 8 (29:08):
Major League Baseball will test robot umpires at thirteen spring
training parks and it could lead to regular season use,
potentially as early as twenty twenty six.

Speaker 14 (29:19):
Your thoughts, Yeah, yeah, get them get the calls right.
This same thing happened with when they introduced replay like
fifteen years ago. We can't have this. It's going to
ruin the human element of the game. If they invented
baseball right now, they wouldn't even have umpires on the field,
and there's a place for them, but getting the calls right,

(29:40):
and that's the most frequently called event in baseball as
balls and strikes.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
I would like them to get them right.

Speaker 15 (29:47):
That is a really interesting way to look at it.
If they invented baseball right now, they wouldn't have umpires
on the field.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
We have them.

Speaker 10 (29:58):
You called them dumb on Tuesdays.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
We have the tech.

Speaker 6 (30:03):
Now you're just sucking up.

Speaker 10 (30:04):
The technology is just a joke.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Yeah kidding.

Speaker 8 (30:13):
Anyway, all right, we'll just do some Vikings News when
we come back. Glenn Perkins makes his initials debut at
eight fifteen seventy eight, five hundred dollars up for grabs
with the Saint Paul Federal Credit Union Initials, Jackpie, is
that go?

Speaker 6 (30:27):
Do you have a baseball? Back there? I want to
find a bit.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
I want to see what how you hold a four
seam fastball in your hand when you're about to throw it.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
I could show you that.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
I'd like to break it down. You look around, You
look around, makes around and find ones.

Speaker 10 (30:42):
Sure it's a baseball.

Speaker 14 (30:43):
I just appreciate you didn't ask me if I have
one with me, because people assume that, oh.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
You played baseball, you must keep a baseball with.

Speaker 8 (30:50):
You in case somebody wants to have a catch. All right,
Vikings News is next.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Glenn Perkins is here, Marty gall there, Mark Parrish is
the power to morning.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Show and farewell local music on the Part Trip Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (31:09):
Good Morning, Everybody, Welcome to Friday on the Power Trick, trying.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
To say to you today. It is a seven five.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Studio, big time guests including Glenn Perkins.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
Hey, Mark Parrish, what up?

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Gus?

Speaker 6 (31:27):
Oh wait good.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
There you get everybody?

Speaker 6 (31:30):
Okay, yeah, okay, I heard some weird noises.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
We found out baseball for Glenn.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Oh yeah, good, good, good good. Mark Parrish?

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yes, do you think you could hit a four seam
fastball from Glenn Perkins?

Speaker 13 (31:47):
Oh yeah, I'm getting the nod from Perk. Yeah yeah, yeah,
I mean it would it would take me maybe a
little while now, yes, okay, that's what I was giving
Perry the nod.

Speaker 14 (31:59):
Okay, yeah, because in twenty twenty four you got it.

Speaker 13 (32:03):
Yeah, because I've watched him pitch and I'm telling you,
like the whole thing with like left east two is
different it Yeah, imagine no, I uh he's yeah, guys, Prime.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
I want to say thank you about a piece of
it to Rad Coope for bringing Vikings news and normally
right here, as they always do, we'll get you a
little bit.

Speaker 6 (32:22):
Of in the minute. But I got a million questions
about throwing throwing balls.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
Whoa I do, so, Zack, turn your mic on, so.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
We do have that baseball over there, and I do
want to see what it looks like, how you hold
the balls and stuff like that. But at what point
in your life do you know that you might be
good at throwing baseball's really fast?

Speaker 14 (32:39):
I'm gonna I'm going to tell you the kind of
the story of my career was. I just kept playing
until somebody told me you're not good enough to play anymore.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
I never, like every kid I feel.

Speaker 14 (32:50):
Like that plays baseball has like aspirations to play in
the major leagues. It's not a particularly realistic goal, but
I like, I was playing in high school. I made
the high school team. Yeah it's still water. And then
colleges were like, hey, you should come pitch for us,
and so I was like, Okay, I'll go do that.
And then I was pitching in college, and then major
league baseball teams were like, hey, we like what you're doing.

(33:12):
You could come play for us. And then at you know,
at some point they were like, heah, you're not quite
good enough anymore, so you're done. And that's kind of
how it was. So like I never really knew, like
what was I don't know.

Speaker 5 (33:26):
I was never.

Speaker 14 (33:29):
Prepared for the next thing. I was never thinking about
the next thing. It was just like, this is what
I'm going to do right now. I was never a
big kid. I never threw hard until really, until I
got to the big leagues is when I started actually
throwing hard. And so I don't know if that was maturity,
if that was working out doing all of those things
that got me better, velocity better, coaching, all of those things, but.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Yeah, I was.

Speaker 5 (33:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 14 (33:54):
I never really dominated dominated until I got older. So
I just kept getting opportunities, probably because I was left
handed and knew where the ball was going more than
how hard.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
It was coming out of my hand.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
Wow. Yeah, interesting late bloomer then kind of yeah wow.

Speaker 15 (34:11):
But baseball is kind of like that too, where in
the NBA, if you're sixteen and you're on the top
AAU circuit, you're headed to the NBA and we know it,
and it's just a manner of time.

Speaker 10 (34:22):
And in baseball there are there are a lot of
stories like yours where guys did.

Speaker 15 (34:26):
Not dominate in high school or college. They were to
junior college.

Speaker 14 (34:29):
Well every year, I mean back then they were drafting
fifteen hundred kids. It was fifty rounds of the draft,
thirty teams, so there was like there was a lot
of opportunity in that sense.

Speaker 10 (34:40):
But what round are you drafted in the first you.

Speaker 14 (34:46):
Asked the question, Mom, Okay, that's it's factual.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
We can look it up.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Marnie wanted you to be like the thirteen hundredth pick.

Speaker 14 (34:55):
Justin Verlander and I were in the same draft, which
is insane because he's still pitching and I've been done
for seven years now and I feel like I'm sixty,
and somehow he's still pitching in the big leagues.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (35:07):
Things have worked out pretty well for Justin Verlander.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
He's doing okay.

Speaker 10 (35:11):
He's talking about off the field.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
No, I'm not Young Award winner. For God's sake, he
was a first round pick. Great career.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna cut to the chase thing because you
kind of went there. How's your arm feel right now
as we're sitting here?

Speaker 6 (35:28):
Does it hurt? Does it ache all the time?

Speaker 14 (35:30):
It only hurts when I throw a baseball. Outside of that,
it's it's fine. If I try to throw like a
hard it does hurt. So if I went to strike
Perry out, I would be in pain. After made me
feel a little bit better, day to day it's fine. Though,
day to day it's fine. My career ended with shoulder
surgery and it never really healed. But like my day

(35:51):
to day activities are are totally normal.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
You ever jump on the rink with like more No
in Parish and played a little hot he or not?
Are you a part of that game?

Speaker 2 (35:57):
I've played at Maher's house.

Speaker 14 (36:00):
Justin lives like three hours away from me, so I
haven't made it to that one. Also, like Justin's game
is all like former NHL players Parish. Yeah, and I'm
always there too, I didn't. Yeah, okay, former NHL players.
And then Joe, who's good at everything. Joe's game is
all like his high school buddies, and so that's more
at like, that's more my level. I would get embarrassed

(36:23):
if I played with Perry and those guys.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
You know what I find incredible about what you've done.
You grow up here, you play college ball here, you
played pro ball here. I don't know how many people
have done that kind of thing. You're from Minnesota, and
you stayed in Minnesota the entire time, except for of
course the minor league.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
Thaing.

Speaker 14 (36:43):
I was incredibly lucky and at no point did I
ever take that for granted? I got to go home
every day after my job, and to me, it honestly
felt like what any other person does a day game.
I'm getting to the field at nine, I'm getting home
at five o'clock, I'm having dinner with my family and
putting the kids to bed, waking up in the morning,
bringing them to school.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Just incredibly lucky to never leave.

Speaker 14 (37:07):
And when I got to a point in my career
where I had the choice to sign or to try
free agency, I always chose to sign because I knew
how lucky I was to be here.

Speaker 8 (37:16):
What was the closest you ever came, though, Like, did
you ever get a call from your agent saying I
have two or three teams that are pretty interested or.

Speaker 14 (37:22):
I don't know if Mitch was in the PR department
at the point that I have heard. I have heard
rumors that that a press release was written for me
to get traded, Like in two thousand and eight, the
press release was written and then it didn't go through.

Speaker 5 (37:40):
So you know, the team that was supposed to be
too yeah, way to.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
Go meech yeah. And then and then the trade fell.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Through on the twin side or the other team side.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
I do not know.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
I don't know. It was to the bottom of that.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
Let's see who walked it was.

Speaker 14 (37:54):
They're probably like, we don't want this dork from Minnesota.
He's not good enough. It was Alfaso Soriano. What I
think he would have been the Nationals I think at
the time two thousand.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
And eight or nine, somewhere in the area.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
Traded to the Yankees, right, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah, wow, that was that close, I think so yeah, wow, yep.

Speaker 10 (38:15):
When Mitch was typing up the press release, was he like.

Speaker 8 (38:20):
Uh, Soriano was with the Cubs from seven to thirteen,
so maybe when he went from the Nationals Cubs.

Speaker 14 (38:27):
Six, it could have been like six okay, yeah, yeah,
because he got traded to the Cubs it looks like.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
And then went to the Yankees after thirteen.

Speaker 14 (38:35):
Yeah, so it definitely wouldn't have been thirteen, so it
would have been way earlier. So I was drafted four
O six sounds right, probably.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Into the line of six. The world will never know. Yeah,
I blame Mitch. Mitch.

Speaker 8 (38:49):
Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's pretty rare. Like Chris was
saying that the High School of College pros.

Speaker 5 (38:53):
It's awesome.

Speaker 14 (38:54):
I think there were kids, Joe and I mare were.
We were roommates at an All Star game right out
of high school. So he had gotten drafted, I was
going to the U and we that's that was the
first time we met. And so then fast forward three
years later, I get drafted sitting in a clubhouse in
spring training with with Joe, and so we kind of

(39:14):
had similar journeys in that sense. He was up here
as a player and I was more down here. But
we're very lucky. I mean, it's it's incredible and I've,
like I said, never taken it for granted. To never
have to leave, to always be home is pretty special.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
Are we on the camera yet? Zecho? Are we on
kN dot com slash watch?

Speaker 5 (39:38):
We will be next?

Speaker 6 (39:39):
Cool? Let's wait till next second.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
And so you can show the camera how you hold
the baseball for different throws. But I'm interested in seeing that.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Did you have yes?

Speaker 15 (39:47):
Well, obviously you are left handed. You are a left
handed pitcher. You talked about that being something that is
an advantage in pitching in general. I can't throw a.

Speaker 10 (39:58):
Ball left handed, but I right left handed. He left handed.
I do a lot of daily activities.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Are you left handed?

Speaker 15 (40:03):
Through and through in everything you do or is it
just in sports?

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (40:06):
You could tie my right arm behind my back and
I wouldn't lose any ability to do anything my right arm,
my right hand is non functional. Huh, very very left
handed dominant?

Speaker 15 (40:16):
And didn't you have a left handed grandfather?

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Yeah, my grandpa on my mom's side.

Speaker 15 (40:20):
And did he pitch or just teach you to help
you throw baseball?

Speaker 10 (40:24):
Are there's some connection to your.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, he played catch with me.

Speaker 14 (40:28):
My parents were baseball fans and you know, took us
to twins games and all those things when I was
a kid. But my grandpa was the one that I
guess if there was anybody that instilled the love of
baseball in me, it was probably him.

Speaker 10 (40:40):
Was he left handed?

Speaker 14 (40:41):
He was left handed? Yeah, yep, that's the only one.
My parents aren't, my brother's not nobody else on any side. Yeah,
so your kids who knows no, no, but yet you.

Speaker 10 (40:52):
Are dominantly left handed?

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Yeah, chances of that.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Huh right, we're was target field built sorry twenty ten?
So what was it like to throw on the Metro
compared to target fuel?

Speaker 14 (41:05):
The nice thing was going there and knowing you were
going to play and that the weather was the same
every day.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
That was the best mound I ever threw on.

Speaker 14 (41:11):
It didn't get baked by the sun, so it was
like a good sticky clay. And it was tall that
that that mound would would was on hydraulics because they'd
have to put it down for the football games.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
And so I always felt like that like that that.

Speaker 14 (41:26):
Mount drawing so they would like they would like lower
it down and then put like a steel plate.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Because that was that was at like the twenty yard
line or something.

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Just wow. I just thought they dusted it up like
you put it like a broom and a dust. Yeah,
we'll build it back, Yeah, we'll build it back up.

Speaker 8 (41:46):
We'll have sauce come out and build a sand castle
and then we'll not get in like a dome shape,
ye would I grumble?

Speaker 14 (41:52):
I was crumbled around the edges because when they would
bring it back up, then they'd have to like kind
of mold it into the field. But it a was
felt tall than the other mounds, like they raised it
up a little more.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
So I did like the metro mound.

Speaker 14 (42:05):
But I always said with Target Field, they had a
blueprint of the metrodome of everything that was horrible about
a stadium, and so they could like, as they were
planning target field, like Okay, this sucks about the dome,
Let's do it this way. And so I think that's
what part of why target Field turned out so awesome.

Speaker 5 (42:20):
What was it like playing with Johan Santana.

Speaker 14 (42:24):
I think the most entertaining thing was watching him in
Carlo Silva fight. They were like brothers, and so the
day to day interaction between them was awesome, entertaining, Like
that was my introduction to the big leagues, and like,
these guys are taking their job seriously but also having
a ton of fun. But I learned a lot from him.
When I first got called up, he was tipping pitches.

(42:45):
I didn't even know that was a thing, and so
watching him throw bullpens and like figuring out how to
disguise what he was doing.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Things like that help me in my career.

Speaker 6 (42:54):
I'm so sorry, I don't know what that means. What's
tipping pitches mean?

Speaker 14 (42:57):
Tipping pitches would be like if doing something differently, like
if you're throwing a fastball or a change up or
or a breaking ball, you would do something with like
where your glove was or the hand position they're looking
for things.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
It's like a physical tell in poker, right, you're giving
away exactly. It's the same we talk about in football, right,
or running back, whether it's a pass player or a
run play, has to try to look exactly the same.
Otherwise the defense knows which yep, Like that guy's clearly
getting the ball handed to him, yep.

Speaker 14 (43:26):
And so hitters are always looking for anything to give
them an advantage because it's so difficult to hit. And
so like that was something I learned from you back then.
But you know him and him and carlos Man were
just so fun to just try to stay out of
their way, but.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
He was awesome.

Speaker 8 (43:47):
So in that process when you were watching Silva, did
you did you have physical tells that you were unaware
of until somebody or a professional coach is like, hey,
you might want to hide this a little bit better.

Speaker 5 (43:56):
Did you have some of else? No?

Speaker 2 (43:58):
I don't think so.

Speaker 14 (43:58):
But it was more like this is something I need
to pay attention to the up Yeah, Like it just
that wasn't something that ever happened at the lower levels.
They didn't have the video capabilities, they didn't they just
didn't pay attention to that. It was like there everybody's
just trying to survive, and in the separators in the
big leagues.

Speaker 2 (44:15):
Are all those little things. It's that that extra one percent.

Speaker 14 (44:20):
And so I, over the years just did what Johann
did because I figured that was a good plan.

Speaker 6 (44:26):
What was the worst part of your game? What was
something you never were able to kind of get ahold of?

Speaker 14 (44:31):
Oh my gosh, that might be the most difficult question
I've ever been asked them in the grinder.

Speaker 5 (44:38):
I mean, excuse me.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Baseball is a game of struggles.

Speaker 5 (44:44):
Is that your RFK impression.

Speaker 14 (44:48):
That it's Carmel is coming up a little bit?

Speaker 5 (44:56):
Man?

Speaker 14 (44:56):
The things the most, I think the grind of the
season being there every day. It's one hundred and sixty
two games in like one hundred and eighty days, throwing
spring training one hundred and ninety five games in two
hundred and twenty days, just getting up every day. And
when I moved to the bullpen, it helped me a
lot because I went there every day to prepare to

(45:17):
play that night. When I was a starter, you would
do your job, or you would have your day to
do your job, and then you'd have four days where
you had where you were just on your own You
weren't even part of the team. You were doing your own,
you were on your own program. You knew you weren't
going to play that night, and so that was a
