Speaker 1 (00:03):
All right, it's Thursday, Thomas Fargo, ben All here talking
college football little bit more here, look, golden go for football.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
We're gonna get some predictions and stuff like that. Speaking
of a golden.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Go for football, here's your quarterback, mister Bruisemer on the
Neveda will back.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
I think it'll be a really good challenge for us offensively,
you know, to be able to battle, you know, throughout
the whole game, but also just to figure out how
can we put our guys in the best spot possible
with schematic wise, but also to feel out the rest
of the game of our how can we see does
the defense change throughout the game? We'll change after halftime
because it's still pretty early for us in the season.
They're in their fourth game right now, I think, and
they're going to have new stuff in for us, and
it's an every week thing where you have to see
(00:39):
what you see on film and prepare for that and
then react to what they give you kind of towards
halftime and through the rest of the game.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
What do you think they're Fargo five, Well, what I
liked last week is what they did on first down.
So this is so unlike go for football but on
first down in the first quarter they threw three times,
so again we're a run first team going into this game.
In the second quarter, on first downs, we threw eight times,
and then in the third quarter when we put the
(01:06):
game away, we threw the ball seven times on first downs.
So that's I've never seen in the eight years of PJ. Fleck,
I've never seen a throw first offense. And again, part
of that's because of the run struggled. You know, the
running backs average is three point two yards of carry.
But you know, but I also like the idea that
if you're going to develop a passing game, let's do
(01:28):
it against some crappy team, right, because we got to
get those singers. This thing has to go. It's got
to go this week. But you're gonna really need the
passing game to go against Iowa, Michigan and USC because
I don't see us running the football much at will
against those teams. A little bit, we'll break it in
a little bit, right right, But at the same time,
(01:48):
Max is going to have to be a dude. And
week two we saw it, we need to see it
again in week three. And then we jump into that
that brutal run that we have coming up, So I
liked it. There had been a record for us to
do that throwing for PJ for sure. I actually believe
that the twenty seven of thirty or twenty four out
of thirty, I believe that's the most completion since your
(02:11):
guy Mitch Leidner in twenty fifteen. So of all the
run of all the great games that Tanner Morgan had, yeah,
I don't think he had a game that actually had
over twenty four seven should have been twenty seven. There's
a there's a drop, huge ball across the middle to
le Micky Brockington, and I believe the first quarter drop
and then a couple other ones. So they'll look at
that stuff short up.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, let's hear it man prediction times.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I think this game is this game again. It scares
me because you know, it's a little bit of a
trap game. That being said, one of the things I
also do like that happened in college football last weekcause
you had a Purdue go into Notre Dame and and
pull off a huge upset. You had an Iowa State
team that was on the road in a hostile environment,
down big at half, they come back, and I think
what that does hock. It just wakes up college football.
(02:56):
If you're a you're if you're PJ Fleck, you get
to walk in on Sunday and you have this huge
victory forty eight to zero. And what PJ does is
he says, cool, let's see what happened in college football
to kind of kind of reground all of my players.
What can happen when teams like Nevada walked in and
now and now there's a bit of a scare factor.
(03:17):
So it's like, you, guys can go ahead and take
this team lightly. If you do, this is what can happen.
So I think I think Nevada is probably a little
bit better than we think. Though, So I like Minnesota
win this game, but I think it's it's probably closer
than people expect that. Like Minnesota thirty four, Nevada seventeen.
My heavens, I was gonna say, thirty five seventeen. You
(03:38):
can you complete me?
Speaker 5 (03:40):
If anyone's over there, I don't know, my heaven. So
just to clarify, I cut your pearls. The spread is
seventeen and a half. One of you is a half
under and a half over.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
I never gambled, never gambled on Gopher football.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
So I start.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Now, you guys just watch.
Speaker 7 (04:00):
We're gonna have like three receivers, spread them out a
little bit, and we're gonna try to gash them. When
dariuses on a little bit of a like a pitch count,
it felt like he didn't play as much.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
But when he touched it, oh, he was. He's different.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
He's different. He is gonna be He's playing on Sundays.
He's that good. He just stands out. He's the best
player on our team, not even clothes, I think.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
So you have thirty five seventeen. Yeah, wow, there you go.
Was going to say, well, let's make it happen. And
then the big game that we have is tonight, right random,
it's not and it's not the NFL game that we previewed.
It's not Miami Buffalo. We have the number one rated
team and six A football, the number one ranked team
(04:43):
in the state that just blew out Eden Prairie. We
have a Dina Liebers squad and Meets squad squad graveling
to Minnetaka, the number five team in the country. In
the posted spread on this game as as of this
morning is a Dina minus six and a half. Wow,
(05:08):
don't forget a Dina goes to the state championship game
a year ago they lost. Think of the mild teammates
a coach there, the Mason West, the great junior quarterback,
Meyer Swinny, the great wide receiver four touchdowns a week ago,
the player of the week last week across the state
and for Minnetonka, Caleb Francois is the running quarterback. So
(05:28):
last week he took it to why Zeta as Corey
found out, losing twenty dollars of me. And then and
then and then we talked about this SoC but your guy,
Matt Lombardi again in the off season, the head coach
of Maple Grove decides to leave that head coaching position.
He's at Minnetonka. His task this week as the defensive
coordinator is trying to find a way to stop a Dina.
So of course I'm taking Minnetaka plus six and a
(05:51):
half and I got meet Sace and Lever that are
all over that as well. From the Dina side, I'm
where's the game at Tonka? At Tom?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
How much fun?
Speaker 4 (06:01):
And it's actually on you, It's on Caro Eleven, Carol Leven,
will be carrying the game on their on the right,
streaming it online, kidding him, all right, I will I
will fall for your phony lines.
Speaker 8 (06:13):
Yeah, I will do your phony like betting lines on
high school football.
Speaker 9 (06:17):
And I absolutely will take you on that six.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
And a half.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, anybody.
Speaker 8 (06:23):
So here's the thing about Adyna. You just named two
big players, but you know there's there's one other player
that has like a little bit of a like, you know,
a fan connection or.
Speaker 9 (06:34):
So.
Speaker 8 (06:34):
So Eric bard Guard, who you've heard talk about with
Metropolitan Ford and PA. His son Chase is their running back.
Oh really, he's a stud too. So here's the deal
with Thena. So he Dina from the way I understand
because I haven't been a game yet, is that they
can hand it off to beer Guard and game one
he goes for one four. So it's like they can
hand it off and they can ground and pound you
(06:56):
if they want or there's not probably a corner in
the state that can keep up with Meyer Swinny on
the outside.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Six.
Speaker 9 (07:02):
I mean, he's going to Cal. He's going to Cal
as the receiver.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
My goodness. And he had and he had offers from
a lot of places, but he just had to go
to Cal because his brother.
Speaker 8 (07:10):
Yeah, so it's like pick your poison, dude, Like if
tomk is shut down the run game, fine, then all's
throw it over the tome was the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Isn't he a good hockey player?
Speaker 9 (07:19):
Mason Mason West, He's like it's like and back in
the day. Yeah, everybody's saying like.
Speaker 8 (07:23):
He will eventually be like a first round NHL draft
pick man.
Speaker 9 (07:28):
My squad's so staff.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
I know that's what six and a half?
Speaker 9 (07:31):
What a couple of dogs? All right, So twenty five
on that.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Game, twenty five dollars.
Speaker 9 (07:36):
I love this BA.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Matt Lombardi's biggest challenge, make it happen, Matt Man, big game,
big games Man. In my last nugget that I wrote
down here, I had a couple other things here. So
when you watch the game at eleven o'clock, when you
watch Bama Wisconsin this week, the thing that I think
is crazy and watching Bama this year, there's two storylines here.
You have a seventeen year old wide receiver and Ryan Williams,
(08:00):
who I believe reclassified to graduate early hawk, so he's
supposed to be a high school senior and he and
when the coaching change happened. He decided to stay in
high school, and then debor talks him into actually sticking
to his commitment reclassifying so you actually can finish high
school and and joined Alabama and he is he is
(08:24):
the next dude, first touches two touchdowns? Are you kidding me?
It's crazy?
Speaker 7 (08:29):
Sophomore year Gatord player, junior year Gadrid player in Alabama?
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Like biggest freak of all time?
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Wow?
Speaker 9 (08:35):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (08:36):
And my last My last nugget in watching the game
this week is there's an alignment from Iowa who committed
a five star I Believe offensive tackle it two years ago, Proctor.
So he's a Iowa, Iowa product. He could he commits. Yeah,
he's a ballpark six. He ends up committing to Alabama,
(08:58):
and he goes down. He starts all the games last
year I Believe as a true freshman, and in the
off season he decides to enter the transfer portal. So
in January seventeenth, the answer he goes into the transfer
portal in the Iowa fan base raises one hundred thousand
dollars to have Procter commit and go to Iowa to
come back to his home state. So he does until
(09:19):
he goes on spring break in March. What and he
goes on spring break with all of his Alabama friends?
And what does he do? Within two months? He leaves
his commitment from Iowa, goes back to Alabama with one
hundred thousand dollars of NIL money funded by Iowa. And
now he's he's getting back into the Midwest. He's got
(09:40):
all of his buddies come over to Camp Randall to
watch him take on the Badgers. I mean it just
shows you how goof for the NIL is y. Wow,
that's eight weeks, one hundred grand, not going to spend
a single down playing football for Iowa.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
That's tough, man, Thanks Flash, appreciate it. Man, Guys, you gave.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Go you gotta go to or what I can stay for?
Speaker 9 (10:03):
One more?
Speaker 10 (10:03):
Okay, one more on a CEO songs, will do sports
in a second, Ben Levers here, Tom Pello, Sarah in
like twenty minutes, Parker Fox later about an hour from now,
we'll do our KOC press conference. We had a chance
to talk to him yesterday. We'll play that back. This
is the Power Trip Morning Ship.
Speaker 3 (10:17):

Speaker 10 (10:59):
There you big, bigger kiss of death right now than
Zach Halibers. Unbel it has officially been converted from Chris
to Zach. Zach is the kiss of death. He picked
Caleb Williams last week first pick. Yeah, and is already
something like twenty two points behind the ghostwhere one weekend come.
Speaker 9 (11:17):
On it or not yet? No, we're waiting on a.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Couple of people still moving parts.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
Yep, it'll be great.
Speaker 10 (11:24):
We need two different entities to give us a green light.
But again, everybody that is in the bet knows what
the plan is. It's not like one of us is
going to get blind sided by something we didn't agree to.
Speaker 7 (11:36):
Is it on the on the list of all your guys.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Charge challenges the hardest. Oh no, no, it's somewhere in
the middle. May be the funniest, Yeah, be the funniest.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I think it could be funny.
Speaker 10 (11:48):
Yeah, okay, yeah, I'm interested. There are definitely more tortuous
ones than this. Yeah, okay, if you really wanted to
lean into this one, this one could be fun. Yeah,
depending on how the person handles it. What year was
it when charge.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
He completely ruined one of you guys and they did
like a tight end in a quarterback, or he.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Can't had three players running back.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Just sword one of you guys for you.
Speaker 11 (12:12):
But as Corey and I have always said, whether we're
losing or winning, you can't have double points.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
I take a double points.
Speaker 11 (12:18):
That's not fair to if Hawk has gained a big
lead or just yeah yep.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
We didn't do the news, but thanks to the Saint
Paul Saints, who they lost seven to six to Columbus
and they're against the Clippers again tonight with Andrew Morrise starting,
but they'll be back at hs Field soon. The Saint
Paul Saints, we love you, Thank you for your sponsorship.
Check out Saints Baseball dot com. But it's time for
sports sports Sports.
Speaker 11 (12:39):
By the way, Zach got six points last week. He
trails hockey by twenty.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Already it's time for Fan five on the Power Trip
presented by All Around Property Preservation.
Speaker 11 (12:50):
They All Around b Minnesota Twins have won two straight.
After they beat the Angels six four, they had eleven hits.
The Twins are now seventy eight and sixty. They need
nine more wins to hit the over for Ben Leeber.
But they still trail the Guardians by six and the
Royals by one and a half. But they have a
three game lead over the final wild card spot over
(13:13):
Detroit and then a four game lead over the Red Sox.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
We have to win.
Speaker 11 (13:17):
They host them Runners tomorrow at Target Field at seven
to ten.
Speaker 9 (13:23):
We have to win.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
You're right, Rocke, you have to win them gotta win.
Speaker 11 (13:25):
Yeah, So the over under bet between the two of
you is seventy or eighty seven eighty seven.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
So he needs nine more wins. He said, how many
games left? Well there, I don't know. You gonna do
the quick math.
Speaker 11 (13:38):
Well, they're seventy eight and sixty eight, so let's have
you do this.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
So they have.
Speaker 11 (13:48):
They have hold on.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
I can do this.
Speaker 11 (13:50):
They have sixteen games left boom go so so nine
and seven. Yes, yeah, so good luck to you, Ben,
Come on, Bucks, thank you very A month ago it
was over for you that you were going to win. Yeah,
they were seventeen games above five hundred.
Speaker 10 (14:11):
Then they had a what they wears like something like
six and fifteen in a twenty one game stretch that
pretty much doomed you.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Now it's gonna be razor thin again.
Speaker 9 (14:20):
Come on, Bucks doomed him. He is the over.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Yeah, so that's what I'm saying. Yeah, it's gonna be
very very fox I thought.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
I know, well, I mean, yes, either way, I mean
it's gonna be very close. I mean, that's that's the
fun thing about this bet, this long this long term
bet is like it really is coming down the water.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
It's like these Vegas guys know what they're doing.
Speaker 9 (14:37):
Yes, correct.
Speaker 11 (14:40):
The Minnesota Vikings battle the Niners this Sunday at noon
pregame of ten hogs Daddy right here on this station.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
That's right.
Speaker 11 (14:47):
Both teams are one to zero. The Niners are six
point favorites. The over under is forty five and a half.
We got our first injured report yesterday for both teams.
Addison and Van Ginkel did not practice.
Speaker 9 (15:00):
Where did that.
Speaker 10 (15:01):
Injury come from? Ben, Andrew van Gingle with a foot injury.
Didn't hear about that at all. Anybody have an idea
where that came from.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
No, we saw it though, Ben. Remember he didn't go
back in like the last two defensive series.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (15:13):
Yeah, so like basically he had that big play at
that big pick six and then he was thirty. He
was in there for maybe one other series and then
it was like he's just not in there, you know,
So that's not good. At some point in time, you
must have, you know, hurt his foot. But I didn't
see an actual play and there wasn't an actual like
designation of the game, so.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
They never took his helmet or anything like that.
Speaker 8 (15:36):
Yeah, he was always just kind of standing there on
the sideline and looking like he was ready to.
Speaker 10 (15:39):
Go in Bradbury limited in practice, but Jalen Naylor a
full participants.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Let's go. Well, that's great news with the Addison situation.
Speaker 11 (15:48):
And then the only forty nine er on the injury
report that we are monitoring is Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
He was limited with a calf and achilles injury.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
Yeah, apparently he's been battling this Achille tendonitis, which is scary.
I mean, depending on the severity. I mean, we all
know that it seems like the killer for athletes of
all ages, but especially NFL players is the Achilles injury.
So it's no longer like the acl It's like, oh,
suffered the Achilles rupture, depending on how it was ruptured
(16:20):
and and all that stuff. I mean, that's that's the
one that could take down a player in their career.
Speaker 10 (16:24):
So and just never forget the one guy in Will
of Fortune that pronounced it.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Hush, yeah, I loved it all time we played and
that was good. We can't be sure he wasn't right,
and Pat it is no.
Speaker 10 (16:38):
Yeah, so far through a couple of days here, Seacrest
infinitely more positive than Pat Sajack right say, Jack kind
of had a smirk when they would get puzzles correct
and be like well done. Ryan's like, good for you, Tommy,
you did it. Like a lot of positivity coming out
of Seacrest. I like my Wheel of Fortune, a little snarky.
Speaker 11 (17:05):
Thank you for supporting Ryan's secrets. You're very welcome. And
again this is here's this is this isn't it picking?
Speaker 4 (17:12):
But that's what I do. This is in my DNA.
Speaker 10 (17:15):
So this I don't know how long it's gonna last,
but I already hate it. For the debut week, LG,
the company LG is helping sponsor Wheel of Fortune. Well
for the last handful of years, right, it's R S
T L N E. And then you get three extra continents,
one extra vowel. We're getting close to god dang near
half the alphabet.
Speaker 9 (17:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (17:33):
Well, now, because it's sponsored by LG, they gave you
R S T L G N E last night the puzzle.
The answer was low fat yogurt. I'm not I don't
I'm not saying I'm a genius everyone in the world.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Before she even picked other letters.
Speaker 10 (17:50):
I'm like I would have just said q x Z
because it was so obvious it was low fat yogurt.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
There was too many letters. You're giving them too many letters.
She won fifty k, fifty grand.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
This is one of the biggest problems in America.
Speaker 10 (18:03):
You've talked about this on Tuesday Night Cats in springfand
what about too many letters?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
In the final posit, you're obsessed with this show show.
Speaker 9 (18:13):
He's a game show. It's worked out.
Speaker 10 (18:17):
Yeah, we don't need LG to sponsor unless sposor the initials.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Then guess what.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
Then every week.
Speaker 8 (18:28):
This situation, just take out a consonant. If you're going
to add the G, just take out something else, like
why do they need to add the G and keep
everything else the same?
Speaker 9 (18:36):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 10 (18:38):
Most of the time the G is going to pop
up at the end of the word after an N.
Speaker 9 (18:42):
Any Way, we.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
Don't need the G.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Ice Cuba sponsoring Wheel of Fortune. Next month, they're giving.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Them og.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
Sauce.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
You do one me who Yeah, come on next week. Yep,
you will be shocked.
Speaker 11 (19:00):
But TCB y yogurt is sponsoring Real of Fortune, so
you're gonna get.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Tc N B y.
Speaker 10 (19:06):
The only reason that's in your head is because I
just said low fat yogurt for twenty five seconds ago.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
You dreaming about TCB.
Speaker 10 (19:13):
Why Michael Scott, And as Michael Scott once brilliantly said,
Ben won't get this reference.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
I can't believe it's not yogurt, brilliant friend, Ben.
Speaker 10 (19:25):
I was so so happy that the Twin Cities Live
crew and Elizabeth crapped on you so hard the other day.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
Yo.
Speaker 10 (19:33):
Yeah, and Elizabeth, Elizabeth had the line of the day.
She just fled out said, that's the thing now that
I hate about you the most is that you haven't
watched The Office.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
That's why she's the best.
Speaker 10 (19:45):
Yeah, So if we can't guilty get you into it,
you were getting booze from your Twin Cities live to like,
how dare you not watch The Office?
Speaker 8 (19:54):
The staff and everybody behind the cameras and behind the scenes.
Speaker 9 (19:57):
We're all just like just gasping gusted with me.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
So look, I'm one of these guys too.
Speaker 10 (20:03):
Does everyone shaming you into it make you want to
do it more or fight the urge to even do
it less?
Speaker 9 (20:10):
No, it makes me want to do it more.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
Okay, because it's been it has been a motivation of
mine to watch the show, because it's not like I
don't watch the show.
Speaker 9 (20:17):
I had nothing, nothing against the show.
Speaker 8 (20:20):
Even it wasn't like one of those things like, oh
everybody loves this show and I just hate it. You know,
I've always liked the show. I just never got into
the show got it. And now it's like one of
those things where we're so many years past that it
seems like it's so overwhelming to go back and start
from square one, which it sounds like a lot of
people love to do anyway, even though you've already watched
the whole thing, you just turn it on and just
watch it from wherever it's at.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
It's the best background show all the time.
Speaker 9 (20:42):
Yeah, so I do. It's motivating me more too.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
So you're traveling and everything, you'd love it.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
Well, that's the thing now that now that I'm in
like sort of a season routine, you know, it would
be something I could watch on the plane.
Speaker 10 (20:54):
Tommy, is that also the thing that you like about
Lieber the least that he has not seen in office
at all? Essentially Leah at all, because that sounds like
Elizabeth hates it the most. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
No, it's when I go on to rant about open
football and the look he gets me.
Speaker 9 (21:11):
That's what I do.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Like your shirt? Where's that from?
Speaker 9 (21:14):
This is actually from our guys at Brandon Bills.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
All right?
Speaker 6 (21:17):

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yeah, yeah, they have T shirts. They got merch out, Yeah,
they got merchant Were they a bunch of merch all

Speaker 9 (21:28):
She looks.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
I like the fabric.
Speaker 9 (21:30):
You don't have to touch him? Good? Please do? Well, you
won the lottery.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
We have dot com tom coming up next and and

Speaker 7 (21:49):

Speaker 10 (21:55):

the one of the deer she schedule.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Tom, Thanks for our friends at Radco. We're gonna do
some Vikings news, but some uh some football news. Thanks
to our friends at bell Bank. Now listen to this
uh the Bell Bank pay It Forward promo. We have
our first winner Care Clinic, red Wing. That's cre Care
(23:03):
Clinic's mission is to contribute to the community by improving
healthcare access, connecting people to resources I can't talk resources,
and promoting health education.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
She nominated them because they provide a.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Free medical clinic along with affordable mental health and dental services.
Well done, Megan Goodwin. Congratulations to care Clinic red Wing.
You are first Bellbank pay It Forward recipient. Thank you, Bellbank.
Well done. Love those people, right, Ben, Love them. They're
the best, always doing the right thing.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Gotta love that.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I hear Max talkdold dot com toomback there. Did you
guys see the ratings the ratings for NFL Week one?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (23:42):
Oh I did not see them.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
It just continues to set records.
Speaker 10 (23:45):
Twenty one million viewers on average per game. That is
an all time record for Week one of the NFL season.
That's up twelve percent from last season, and which is
really the number that matters, I think the most if
you think about it. And one hundred and twenty three
million people saw at least a part of one game.
That's the highest total for an opening week since twenty nineteen.
(24:07):
Now giant numbers, though, don't necessarily translate to revenue.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
It or come on, Billboard, come on now, let's suck
to dot com.
Speaker 10 (24:17):
Tom dot Com, Tom, Tom Pelasaro, Tom Pelisaro of the
NFL Network, Hi.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
Tom, how we doing better?
Speaker 10 (24:26):
You better than better than most. We're we shouldn't complain.
You know, we're going to have you on now thanks
to Bell Bank. Then we're going to see you tomorrow
morning anyway to talk more football, and you're going to
be an initial semifinal number three.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
Yep, just remembered that again.
Speaker 12 (24:40):
So I have a few more alerts on my phone,
so I don't.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
Forget this entirely. I'm ready. I'll be ready. Don't worrying.
I'll be ready again.
Speaker 10 (24:47):
Oh man, uh, where do you guys want to start?
You guys want to start Vikings Niners, since that's the
big game here. The Niners obviously looked pretty good on
on Monday night. Right, they could have obviously ended a
couple more drives with touchdowns, but they look pretty efficient.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Defenses crazy Rogers look pretty terrible.
Speaker 10 (25:02):
But no Christian McCaffery on Monday night, and it's looking
like he might be a long shot to play on Sunday.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
He's saying, you.
Speaker 12 (25:10):
Know that he's preparing to play. It's a you know,
it's a long season. He's dealing with his rapidpalle reporter yesterday,
like Achilles.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
Tend to night is.
Speaker 12 (25:19):
And so that's one of those things that's kind of
there and you're gonna have to deal with it. And
so the calculus is going to be you know, do
they put him out there as a you know, a
partial participant Sunday on turf? You know, the next two
games are on turf and then week three there at
so far against the Rams, you know, at some point
they're going to have to, you know, make decisions about
when the right time is the role the guy out.
(25:39):
But when you got Jordan Mason just truck sticking guys
like he was the other night, and you kind of
look at it and go, uh, you know, we we
maybe can try to get this thing right.
Speaker 6 (25:48):
But it's not as if, you know, he's magically going
to heal.
Speaker 12 (25:50):
This isn't an NCL or a high ache or something
else like he's he's dealing with something that might be
an irritant to him, you know, throughout the entire season here,
and so it's gonna be a matter of how he
feels and when they feel like it's the right time
to cut him loose.
Speaker 11 (26:03):
Obviously, Christian McCaffrey is one of the best offensive players
to maybe ever play football. How long, in your opinion
do you think it could last if they did let
him sit for three or four weeks?
Speaker 12 (26:15):
Yeah, I mean, it's tricky again, because this isn't like
an injury that's just gonna disappear. It's kind of like
a planter fascist situation or something else where. There's not
a whole lot you can do with it. You obviously
can rest and rehab and things. It's a good question,
and a lot of people took Christian McCaffrey Round one,
pick one in their fantasy drafts and have a lot
(26:36):
of questions. Am I one of those people who had
to quickly pick up Jordan Mason on Monday night.
Speaker 6 (26:40):
And sell them in.
Speaker 12 (26:41):
Maybe, but it's just you know, that's going to be
one of the questions marks. So I think rolling forward
here is maybe Christian McCaffrey's not a twenty plus touch
guy in the near term here. You know, they can
divide it between multiple backs. I wouldn't anticipate whatever mcaffery
gets out there. I would just say this, I don't
think you're going to see him with you know, twenty
twenty five carries in the first game. I think it's
(27:02):
very much going to be Eastman to action. See how
the body responds. Knowing him, you know, he might decide
he's totally flying in a few weeks here but they're
they're going to proceed cautiously here because for you know,
when you're a team like the forty nine ers coming
off a Super Bowl appearance, you're not playing for you know,
you're trying to win the games, but you're.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
Not playing for September. You're playing for January and February.
Speaker 8 (27:23):
Tom Pelisaro, So what I want to get your thoughts.
We'll shift over to the Vikings real quick. So we
saw the forty nine ers play against the Jets. Now,
say what you want about the Jets. I think they're
actually going to be a pretty decent team. Maybe they
didn't show it in Week one. Vikings come off a
pretty pretty easy win against the Giants. Now that's a
team now after the we've seen all four quarters, maybe
(27:45):
not as good offensively as we thought was going to be.
So what do you make What do you make of
the Vikings victory against the Giants last Sunday?
Speaker 12 (27:53):
Well, so I think the NY time and you know
there's like going on the road and you know, play
in a Week one game, crowds hype.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
They're wearing the khaki pants. Like.
Speaker 12 (28:02):
There's all sorts of reasons for you know, for optimism
and has some juice and the Vikings just stole it
right out of the game. You know, that's not an
untalented Giants team. You do have, you know, players, you
can make plays in the passing game. You got Elik
Neighbors out there, Dan Jones. First game off the ACL
I think that's always tricky, just like you know, Kirk
first game off the Achilles, like Rogers first game off
(28:24):
the Achilles.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
You know, so it might be a little bit bumpy.
Speaker 12 (28:26):
You've missed a lot of reps and you're you're trying
to get you know, full confidence and get back to
game speed.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
I still think it's a.
Speaker 12 (28:32):
It's a good win for the Vikings in part because,
I mean, nobody could know what to expect from that
defense coming into the game. I mean, you signed Stefan
Gilmour midway through camp and you're kind of, you know,
slapping it together.
Speaker 6 (28:45):
It's other positions.
Speaker 12 (28:46):
There's a lot of new faces, and they played, you know,
start to finish, they played really well offensively, you know,
the difference maker. I know we talked about this in
the recent weeks. Here to me, the reason to believe
in the Vikings, you know, the biggest reason is justin
jeff because a couple times a game, he's going to
have that catch and it was a beautiful throw by
Sam Donald on the left sideline, but he's gonna you know,
(29:06):
you get right down to it and it's a goal
line situation and you know you can jam that ball
into Jefferson and he's going to take it away from
the defender. You know, that guy is such a difference
maker here. Different challenge this week. You know, the guys
that he's going to be facing forty nine ers has
some really good corners. It's going to be more of
a challenge. They know Sam Donald well, they know his
(29:27):
strengths and his weaknesses. I'm sure that they're going to
have an attack plan for him. But I wouldn't discount
what we saw in week one. I mean, we could
easily be sitting here on the other side of it
and the Giants, just again by virtue of being at
home and week one and some you know, positive vibes,
they could have come out and the score could have
been flipped. And then what we're gonna be saying about
the Vikings, it would be like, you know, they're buried
(29:48):
if they got this difficult stretch over the next six
weeks here, this is one you had to have in
week one. Now, let's see coming home per a couple
against really good teams.
Speaker 6 (29:56):
Let's see how it goes.
Speaker 10 (29:58):
A lot of people crabbing on Daniel Jones, justifiably, so
same thing with Brian Daball. I assume he's on the
list of the coaches on the hot seat in twenty
twenty four. Give me your your sense of which coaches
really need to get something going pretty quickly here.
Speaker 12 (30:12):
I think that there's always Corey an overreaction to week
one and certainly just based on where we were at
last year with the Giants, the number of changes that
they made, Dabell took over the play calligue, you know,
and he's in year three. Year three is always the
big year because at that point after that season, you know,
history would show you you're either going to sign that
out of a contract extension or you're going to fire.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
That's just kind of how the league goes.
Speaker 12 (30:35):
It's all, you know, a lot of it tilts on
year three, and so you know, Dabell was a you know,
had a really good season in year one. Year two
was bad for a variety of reasons, including all the
injuries that they have. I wouldn't write him off at
this point, but certainly you know there's going to be
pressure there. Same thing with Doug Pearson and Jacksonville. Similar
type of thing where I believe they were nine to
(30:56):
eighty to the last two seasons, but they had the
playoff appearance and they won a game in that crazy
fashion against the Chargers.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
And then last year and.
Speaker 12 (31:04):
I made again, but they struggled down the stretch and
Trevor Lawrence didn't play as well. So you know, inevitably
there's going to be pressure there. The Jets obviously have
a lot of pressure. Aaron Rodgers has flat out said, hey,
we better win or a lot of us are going
to be out of here. I think that that's that's
a fair assessment, just based upon you know, what they've
had going here, and then you get some of the
new coaches who you know, everybody's going to bag on
(31:25):
the coaches who's you know, in their first game, and
the teams don't come out and play well.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
I mean Carolina was really rough. It was.
Speaker 12 (31:31):
I saw enough of it because I got red zone
in one year on Sundays and the Saints were pretty
much in the red zone the entire game, and when
it's whatever was thirty to nothing in the first half,
they're like, all right, this might this might be a
battle for the Panthers in twenty twenty four. That one, though,
was about getting Bryce Young, you know, playing.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Better, and Week one did not look good. I believe he.
Speaker 12 (31:50):
Threw an interception on the very first past of the
game and then another interception on like the second pass
of the third quarter. That's not the growth that you
were hoping to see. There's under many and just from
a personal perspective, as any defense in the league. And
then they just lost Derek Brown, who's their best player
on the.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
Entire team, to a season.
Speaker 12 (32:07):
Any knee injury, you can tell, like right out of
the gate, this is probably going to be a challenging
season the first year coaches. It's also about are you
seeing the growth in the program? Are you seeing the
team get better over the course of the season. I
would apply that to the Raiders as well, who didn't play,
you know, particularly well out of the gate. There's other
situations like Cleveland where you know, Kevin is a two
(32:27):
time NFL Coach of the Year, you know there shouldn't
be heat on him. But there's heat on that entire
program right now because you're in the year three of
Deshaun Watson, even setting aside another lawsuit that was filed.
Speaker 6 (32:39):
In Texas this week.
Speaker 12 (32:41):
You're just hoping that he's going to play better. But realistically,
a guy played like twelve games total over a three
year span, you don't suddenly just come back. You got
to hope that you're improving over the course of the season.
And now they got this other amble langing over their
heads that they're going to have to answer questions about
on a weekly basis.
Speaker 6 (32:59):
It's just, you know, since Defans.
Speaker 12 (33:01):
He got to Cleveland, it's been a NonStop battle of
you know, he made the playoffs, you know, COVID season
in year one, and then they had to dip the
following year, and then you make the Watson trade, but
he's not available, and then last year, you know, he
suffers the season, any injury, they start like four or
five different quarterbacks still go to the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
I mean, it's been.
Speaker 12 (33:19):
NonStop, you know, having to fight off the demons in
Cleveland here, and that's kind of the you know, the
definition of that program. But they got to get the
quarterback playing better. And I think that that's one of
the themes across the league.
Speaker 8 (33:31):
All right, So let's stick with the coaching situation, because
this kind of this became a little bit of national
news and definitely Vikings world news. When Mike Zimmer had
an article come out about him. It really didn't I
personally did not paint his personality in a very good light.
But the point is he's back to coaching. He's defensive
coordinator in Dallas. Seems to be after week one, you
(33:52):
want to overreact. He's got that defense playing at a really,
really high level, and let's just say that he continues
to stay there. What is the vibe of the NFL
right now for guys like him that are a little
longer than the tooth when it comes to coaching. You've
got Bill Belichick, who's going to sit out of here
and his whole do this whole media tour and show
everybody's got it personality and whatever and all this other
stuff you heard about me. Maybe I'm not as curmudgingly
(34:13):
as you think, but what is the vibe with those
type of guys getting head coaching opportunities next year?
Speaker 12 (34:19):
I think it's a great question, and I think that
That is one of the things to monitor going into
this next offseason because last year it was all positive
energy coaches.
Speaker 6 (34:31):
Who got head coaching jobs.
Speaker 12 (34:33):
You know, Jim Harbaugh is his own animal entirely, but
he's very much a positivity. He works the crap out
of guys, but he's very much a you know, you
watch the postgame thing and who's got it better than us?
Speaker 6 (34:43):
Like it's very much like a, hey.
Speaker 12 (34:45):
We're building this positive reinforcement culture. Same thing with you know,
Brian Callahan, who's kind of a cooler head, but he's
certainly you know, from that school of thought where it's
going to be more positive. Dave can Alis in Carolina
is a positivity all the time. Guy uh Antonio Pierce
really galvanized people by going from the Josh McDaniels hard,
(35:06):
you know, hard lessons way to.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
Being a, Hey, we're all gonna band together.
Speaker 12 (35:10):
And we're gonna we're gonna kick everybody's ass. That was
what we were looking for last year. But you know,
there's always this it's the opposite theory where you know,
whether it's within the organization, you hire the positive guy
and then you go to the negative guy. Whether it's
league wide you know, it's some of these guys, their
teams struggle in year one.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Maybe you go back to you know what.
Speaker 12 (35:29):
This this generation needs the ones who are gonna come
down harder on people. And I think that, you know,
in Dallas there was a little.
Speaker 6 (35:36):
Bit of that.
Speaker 12 (35:37):
Dan Quinn is very much another guy who got to coach.
You got, he's very much the brotherhood and we're going
to band together and it's all gonna be positive and
we're gonna get him with that that positive.
Speaker 6 (35:46):
Energy to them.
Speaker 12 (35:48):
You know, maybe they need a little bit of that
and we'll see, you know, when times get tough, some
of that stuff gets over. He had the Week one thing.
Even though there's a ton of tape on Jim's defenses,
he had the Week one thing working for him, which was,
you know, the questions of all right, how is he
going to use Michael Parsons. The answer was He's going
to use him everywhere and the Browns are going to have,
as Tom Brady put it, no answers for it. And
(36:09):
he attacked and it was fun to watch. They got
a really talented defense in Dallas. You know, I'm happy
for Zim. I know that he had some maybe not
necessarily the most positive things to say.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
About certain occurrent and former members of the organization in
that interview with Mark Craig.
Speaker 12 (36:27):
But I get it, he's been bottling a lot of
that up for a few years.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
Here is he's going to be a head coach again.
Speaker 12 (36:31):
I mean he said in that story he doesn't think
that he's going to but you know, knowing Zim, he
believes that he can do it again. He's a third
winning his coach in Viking's history. If they win and
win big, I do believe he's going to get interviews
and it's probably going to depend on the right fit
because every owner, every team has got their own criteria.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
Well, last thing for Tom Pallasero, thanks to our friends
at Bell Bank more information on how to nominate somebody
for their paid Forward charity or a charity for a
paid Forward program. Momentarily, but Tom, before we let you go,
give Vikings fans reason to believe we can be maybe
one of the best teams in the league on Sunday.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
I mean it starts with Justin Jefferson. That's the biggest thing.
And the forty niners are gonna be cooking up this week.
How do we make that guy, not the one that
beats us.
Speaker 12 (37:15):
I think that we've seen in Jefferson's career some of
the highest profile types of matchups is where he's had
his best games. I mean, he likes the challenge. He
likes to be put up against the best one. He
likes to be told, you know, this is a really
tough matchup. And he's got that way of you know,
kind of saying, all right, well let's let's see. You know,
Travarious Wards a really talented corner. You know, Diamador Lenore
(37:38):
is going to get paid in this offseason, if not before.
He's one of the best nickels. He can play outside.
He's a, you know, a really good threat on that
defense as well. We fascinating and see kind of how
they they decide to match up. We'll see about Jordan Addison.
I don't know if he's gonna go or not. His
ankle storry hasn't been practicing, you know, keep an eye
on that one here. But also defensively, you know, Brian
(38:00):
Flores is very creative, and sometimes you get burned when
you you know, you're trying something different and you're throwing
something different at him.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Other times you're able to kind of keep them, you know,
keep them off balance.
Speaker 12 (38:11):
Kyle Shannon is as good as anybody in the league
at getting people open. So the challenge for Flores this
week is going to be how do you muddle that picture?
How do you do enough stuff that Kyle.
Speaker 6 (38:21):
Shanahan, you know, the things that he schemed up through
the course of the week, he might have to adjust
within the game.
Speaker 12 (38:26):
I know this one, to oh feels a whole lot
different than Owen one in terms of the vibe that
you're going to.
Speaker 6 (38:32):
Get in US Bank Stadium come Sunday. The building will
be rocking.
Speaker 12 (38:36):
You talk to anybody, any coach on another team, they'll
tell you it's one of the louder, one of the
tougher places to play in the NFL. Get off to
a good start, telling somebody the opening possession, which has
been a problem for like two years. Here, just just
get some get some vibes going.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
I think it's going to be a really good game
on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Appreciate it, dude, see you tomorrow morning.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Thank you, are you ready? Let's do it? Thanks to Banks?
Speaker 4 (38:59):
You send you a text or my you tonight. There
he goes a righty real quick.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
This football season, bell Bank is giving one kfan listener
each week one thousand dollars to pay it forward to
a charity of their choice. You can nominate the charity
of your choice right on kfan dot com just putting
the bell Bank there. You can nominate the charity of
your choice, and each week at seven forty, we're going

(39:26):
Red Wing thanks to our friend Megan Goodwin.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
That link is a kfan dot com. Thank you, bell Bank.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Pretty cool. We'll come back.
Speaker 10 (39:33):
We'll do Fan five, a KOC press conference in about
twenty five minutes. Liber for another forty or so. As
Parker coming today, I haven't seen him yet. No longer
is here by now, Okay, Nobalie's here by now when
we come back. Though, lesson learned, Benjamin Liber not necessarily you,
but this is a good PSA for everybody.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
If you're not super.
Speaker 10 (39:51):
Familiar with social media, if you're not sure how everything works,
be very careful and make sure your phone's off.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
We'll explain why after this power trip. More a show
on the Fan
Speaker 1 (40:03):
And
