Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wilson Bethel, there's a little bit of an echo, but
I'll take it.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, I'm getting it too. It's all right, We'll live
with it.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Bullseye. Are you kidding me? There's no way I'm not
going to do this interview. It's it's great having you
on the show. You know, I was a Marvel comic
book fan growing up. I don't know if you were.
I mean, I've got issues with Bullseye from the seventies
early seventies fighting Daredevil.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
You'd been murdering people for a long time.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Hasn't unbelievable? And listen what you and what you and
Charlie Cox did in that in that first episode that fight,
I heard your little shot to his his, your little
pat you improv That is that true, Wilson, That.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Is correct, That is correct.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Unbelievable TV. I mean, dear Deevil born again. There should
be Emmy nominations. Charlie Cox obviously goes without saying what
Dono Frio is doing there? And we my son said
right out of the gate when you first showed up,
but when I'm still on Netflix that you were just
killing it as Bullseye. I have a nineteen year old son,

(01:06):
you say, thank you man.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, well, we've just finished shooting the new season just
a couple of days ago, and and I honestly think
this might be the best season of Daredevil yet. So
there's a lot to look forward to this This new
season is just absolutely off, off the chain.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Is Luke Cage in it? You can you know? I know,
I do know I should have done that. That was
disrespectful to do to you, because I do know that.
But I know Kristin Ritter has already confirmed. So we're
getting some Jessica Jones. Great to have the show back,
I'll tell you before we get into Untamed too. And
that's great stuff new Netflix series, and it is dropping

(01:46):
in just a couple of days. But when I used
to see for all those years there like on social
media petitions to sign to bring Daredevil back. I remember,
you know, I'm a big comic book geek, as I
already told you, and I think these people are pathetic,
like you, shows don't get brought back. It really changed
my view on what the people can do, what fans

(02:08):
can do.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Look, man, the fans, I will say this generally, first,
fans make the world go round in this in this
corner of in this corner of entertainment, and and I
see that every time I go to one of these conventions.
It's a beautiful thing. The enthusiasm that the fans of

(02:31):
of these types of genre shows and movies, the types
of people that they are, is just incredible.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah, as far as the Daredevil fans in particular, I mean,
take that general level of dedication and excitement and just
ratchet it up to like a gazillion. They're just the
most hardcore, lovely family of people that yeah, basically are
are in no small part responsible for bringing the show back.

(02:59):
And they'reenthusiasm for these characters really was absolutely instrumental to
making this show be what it is and the fact
that it still lives on so huge props to everybody
in the Daredevil f fandom.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah, and I take back all the mocking that I did,
because I remember just being like, it's not gonna happen.
You guys, got to let guts are not gonna happen. Lo,
and behold it does.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's a it's a real testament to just pure unbridled enthusiasm.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Man.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's like you can wiel things into existence.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, true enough, you have it all so now interestingly, uh,
you know, as much as I said I had those
old comic books, I don't know if it's like Cannon,
that Bull's Eye was just uh traumatized former soldier and
he's just a broken man in a lot of ways,
delusional and you nail it. Uh and now in an

(03:51):
untamed former army ranger. I mean there's similarities between I
guess to a degree as far as there's a past,
but this and yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I mean, look, these are uh, these are both sort
of like for starters, they're both sort of like interesting
lone wolf type characters. I mean, they're very different characters
in a lot of ways. But but I would say
one of the big crossovers, they're definitely sort of lone wolfs.
They're also each individually very deadly men, and and they're

(04:26):
they're time in the military, you know, as part of that.
But yeah, the character I played on Tame Maguire, he's
an ex Special Forces guy who lives in in the
park in Yosemite. He works you know, wildlife management, but
he's basically like an opha grid you know, lone wolf

(04:48):
guy living in the middle of you know, nowhere in Yosemite.
And he likes it that way. He's got, you know,
I think some mysteries in his past that the season
starts starts to uncover. But certainly one of the things
that you recognize right out of the gate about this
guy is that he means business and that he's he's deadly,

(05:09):
and there's I think there's an element to that that
that brings sort of an immediacy and a bit of
danger to the show right off the back, from the
moment he steps on screen. And I guess if you're
a fan of Daredevil, you know that bull Dye when
he steps on screen, he brings a small element of danger.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
As well, just intensity, just absolute intensity, you know, untamed
reeks of you know, based was there source material? Is
this a ton of books? It's got a little bit
of a tracker vibe. I don't know if you know
that show, but it's a pretty damn good show and
that's based in popular book. Is this based on a series?

Speaker 2 (05:48):
No, it's not, but you know, I think it's a
project that was kicking around in the head of the
creators for the head of the creators for while. I
mean this particular corner that they're exploring, and you know
Eric Bannon, his character plays a guy who kind of

(06:10):
exists both within and without the system of the National
Park System, and it's just sort of fascinating. I think
they took that idea of a guy who investigates sort
of high crimes but within the park system as being
a really interesting endpoint to a mystery story on the

(06:31):
one hand, and now on the other hand, just like
an incredible opportunity to shoot in some of the most
beautiful locations that you possibly could. So it's kind of
the best of both worlds. You get this you know,
kind of pop boiler mystery vibe, and then you also
just get to look at you know, unbelievable nature.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah. Yeah, that had any a lot of work with animals.
Were you working with animals? Were you doing some dangerous
stuff there too?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Not with animals? No, not me. There are other there
are other other characters that have some animal interactions, but no,
I mean for me, Like, you know, I'm a very
outdoorsy person. I've I've spent my whole life, you know,
hiking and backpacking and all that stuff. So getting to
do a show based in Yosemite, which is one of
my favorite places on Earth, and although We didn't shoot

(07:16):
it in Yosemite. We shot it up in British Columbia,
which you know also one of the most beautiful places.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah yeah, you can't live.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah yeah, It's just incredible, man. I mean, it was
an amazing opportunity to work with an incredible group of actors,
an incredible creative team, and then just doing it honestly,
and summer in Canada. Are you getting its like insane?

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, it's and it's untamed. It's on Netflix. Episodes begin
this coming Thursday, July seventeenth, and it is Wilson Bethel
who right here. I mean, we talked about how Foggy's
not really dead. Foggy is not really dead. I can't
even trick you into I kind of don't want to know,
so I don't know why I'm putting that out there, but.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Well yeah, I mean, look man, I don't I don't
want to disabuse you of anything, but he's pretty dead
as far as I'm concerned, unless unless that must some
miracle happened.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
I got to tell you the truth. When that scene
played me, my nineteen year old and my twenty two
year old, we were my twenty two year old daughter.
I should say, Wilson, we all stood up. We were staying,
we had been sitting down. We stood up in the
living room as we watched the end of that fight
when we thought you got killed, we thought Daredevil did
blood right there. But I mean that was we got

(08:31):
off our our respective couches and we're standing. What a
moment you gave us.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Hey, man, I appreciate that. That's a real testament to
something I suppose. And thank you, Thank you for thank
you being part of that fandom.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, and we'll be on the lookout for Daredevil Born
Again season two as well. It's Wilson Bethel continued success.
You deserve it, man, and again.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Thank you, man, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
You got it and then again. Untamed Thursday, July seventeen,
Netflix
