Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, this is Vinnie.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Hey Vinnie, how you doing. This is Freddie Rodriguez.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Freddie Rodriguez, I love it. Welcome to the show, big
fan man.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Thank you for
having me.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm a big fan. I want to talk about Blue
Eyed Girl, but there's a couple of things we got
to touch upon before we do. First of all, yeah,
you got it. First of all, I just a couple
months back, I actually had one of your former co
stars from Six Feet Under on, although I don't know
if you ever had a scene with Billy on before
with Billy during the show, but I was telling him

(00:32):
how I just binge watched six Feet on it. I
watched it in real time when the first year one
of the best shows ever on television. And my twenty
two year old daughter was like, I keep hearing about
this show. Would you Binge watch it with me? And
I said, I'd love to watch it again. So worth
a second viewing, especially with a lot of years in
between them, you know, there's stuff you miss. You view

(00:54):
characters differently. The funniest thing about Rico is when you
first showed up like she loved you, and I'm like, oh,
you're gonna wait until his wife comes along. Wonderful, like
my recollection, Rico was, I was a Rico Freddie was.
I'm like, wait until his wife comes along. It's a
beautiful love story. And then as we continue to watch

(01:15):
the show, she's like that he's a horrible husband. This
is a.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Horrible So.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I didn't remember, but I thought you guys kind of
stayed together. I didn't realize it. And then the just
the more off the deep end, your character went. My daughter,
she's looking at me and she's going, and you love
this character and this relationship. I'm like, I remembered it differently,
What do you want me to do? Hey?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
You know, relationships are compact. Marriage is compact.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, they are. It was so great to uh you know.
I had asked, like I said, your former co star,
what about a six feet under? You know, there's so
much we can do it. And he's like, well, don't
forget that final episode they showed how everybody died. I
guess that's true, but it does mean doesn't mean there

(02:07):
wasn't a ton between then and now.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
That is true. That is true.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Do you miss anything?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
And I mean not at the moment. No, you know,
and and my character veers off and starts his own
funeral home. So so that could also do something else
as well. Yeah, but but no, at the moment, I
don't believe that there's any other like spin off or
reboot or anything like that. But oh yeah, yeah, you

(02:33):
had Billy Jeremy Sisto, right, Jeremy Sisto on you.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, yeah, it's great.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I'll tell you a fun fact. Jeremy sister and I
went to a rival high.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Schools Oh, no kiddo in Chicago. No kid, So you
were aware of each other before you when you wound
up on set together.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh yeah, absolutely absolutely. We talk about high school and
all that. But he's a he's a he's a really
really nice guy. Yeah, really good guy.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Oh yeah. We have a lot of laughs talking about
the show too, it being so fresh. You know what,
we really fought over my daughter and I and then
of course we'll move on. Is I love Nate. I
love Nate's Carra, I love the story arc And she's like, Dad,
you're not supposed to love him. I disagree. I mean,
I'll give her you, I'll give her reco, but you're
not supposed to love Nate. I think you're wrong. I

(03:21):
told her, and she's like, we really disagreed on Nate,
who I don't know, is kind of the heart and
soul of the show. She says, it was clear she
might be right. It is a great rewatch and I
would encourage people to do it.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
And bank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
And before we get on to Blue Eyed Girl, I
now have to bring up my son. He's nineteen years old.
He works at fro A movie theater and he just
started his own grindhouse series. Yeah, he's been working there
for a couple of years. He earned the trust of
the manager the owners there, and he's like, what I
want to do is once a month, eleven o'clock at night,

(03:57):
I want to pick a grindhouse movie. I think people
a little show up. He did his first one. It
was sold out. It was a beast. Oh and I
remember watching you know, Planet Terror with it, you know,
we did the whole Robert Rodriguez, you know, and Tarantino
know the double feature. He's a huge Tarantino fan and
Rodriguez fan. Planet Terror was fantastic. We don't know what

(04:21):
happened with that double feature. Just like Tarantino says, he's like,
I guess we were wrong. People didn't really want that
we do, though I don't know what happened there.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I think that people, you know, sometimes the advertisement of
a film doesn't make clear to the audience what it is, right.
So so the concept of like the double feature, the
concept of like the Grindhouse movies, I just think that
people didn't get it until it came out like on video,
and then people started to discover it, and they they

(04:52):
started to realize that it was really good. And so,
you know, I think that maybe the advertisement for it
was a little was a little kookie.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah, you might be wrong. Yeah, his is going great.
He's got next week. He's showing blood rage. He calls
it the Graveyard, the Graveyard Grindhouse. He calls it his friend.
His first one was sleep Away Camp, I think, and uh,
like I said, it was sold out. So I told
him I would get you to say, Freddie Rodriguez, go

(05:20):
and check out the Graveyard Grindhouse. You do that for me?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Oh sure, Hey, this is Freddie Rodriguez, and go check
out the Graveyard Grindhouse.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
The man I love it. Rico himself dar himself. So
now I've been catching your podcast too, by the way,
very entertaining stuff. Yeah, I don't know if it just
started appearing in my reels and I'm like, it's reco
I love it, but it's very entertaining stuff. I didn't
know if you had moved on from acting. And now
you know, so many are love the podcast world. But

(05:53):
then I see Blue Eyed Girl. Tell me about the film.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Oh yeah, yeah, Well, Blue Eyed Girl is directed by
Jamil's Goodlow. And he directed a movie called Age of
Adeline with Harrison Ford.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah. Good movie, yeah, real good movie. Blake Lively, real
good movie.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah. Yeah, he wrote that film and and so he
directed our movie. And and it's our movie is just
a good old fashioned romance movie. And and uh, Marisa Coughlin,
who wrote our movie, stars in it with me, and
we play a married couple and and uh, you know,
it's about the complexities of marriage and the complexities of relationships.
And so, you know, to the outside world, we seem

(06:33):
like a normal couple and we're married, and we've got kids,
and we've got a house and jobs. But the deep
down inside, she feels this void and she's unhappy and
and all of that comes to light when her father,
who's played by Bo Bridges passes away and she goes
to Minnesota and she reconnects with an old flame, which
is Sam Tremmell, who you all would know from True.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Bloody And that's weird and and.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah man and they they they connect and it puts
our relationship to the test, and it's about how us
as a married couple get through this test and through
this hump. And I'm sure all your listeners could could
relate to that.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah. And the only reason I say that's weird too
is because I'm pretty sure for a while there I
would go from True Blood to Six Feet Under? Did
you or were both shows? Did you not air Sunday
nights in tandem? Or were you done by the time
True Blood came along. I don't think so we.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Were done because True Blood and Six Feet Under are
by the same creator and his name is Alan ball
Wild Yeah creator. Yeah, yeah, he created our show first
and then he created that show. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, Well, don't tell Trammel this, but that's right. My
daughter discovered that and she said, so we got to
do True Blood next, And I was loving watching that too,
but she bailed on that after like season one or two,
and yet Six Feet under We literally did, honestly, the
whole series literally in two weeks, about two weeks time.

(08:00):
But this this sounds like very timely too, because there's
a trend I see too, as far as I don't
know the ages of your characters in this, but they're
saying that dissatisfied women there's there's a term for it,
a hashtag for it right now, or they're feeling an
emptiness right I know that they're filing for divorce at
record numbers. It's women instigating divorce in twenty twenty five

(08:24):
America more than men. It was a recent statistic. I
don't know if that's what will happen in Blue Eyed Girl,
or if your character will win her back from a
you know, a werewolf.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Right? You got to watch man, Yeah, watch you gotta
watch the movie to find out.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, Now, where can we see Blue Eyed Girl with
Freddie Rodriguez?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Oh, it's in theaters, it's on video on demand, you know,
November twenty first.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
I love it. We'll be checking out. I love it,
And I appreciate you giving that shout out to my
son for his little uh, his grind housing and continued success.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Man, big fan, Thank you so much, I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (09:05):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
