do another live Christmas Wish here onKatie WB. We have a couple of
wishers here in the studio, motherand daughter. It's Rachel and Cheryl.
Good morning, Rachel, good morning, and good morning, Cheryl. Good
morning. Who's going to do thetalking today? Who's the vocalist on the

(00:21):
Christmas we're sharing? You're sharing itsemotional story. You got to share it
right mother, daughter? And I'veseen you before, Rachel, Where have
I seen you before? So wecame to Girls' night and my mom put
me into the contest where you hadto put a quarter in your butt and
drop it in a cup, andI won a thousand dollars. I did

(00:42):
it three times in a row.I remember you, I do, And
I was going to say that wasa hard contest. So you crushed it
and I got it before anyone evengot one, and I was just as
shocked as everyone else. Amazing andembarrassing at the same time. Rachel,
thanks for coming in, and Cheryl, thanks for coming in. We're about
to do a wish. Before weget to the details here, we're going
to thank our boy is it Brandonout at College morning? Brandon, Good

(01:06):
morning, Brandon gets up early. He works at College muscle movers. And
what part of town are you inright now? Brandon? One of the
Brooklyn and I get him mixed upall the time too. And you're going
to deliver today's wish, which isgoing to happen live thanks to College muscle
Movers. You need him to moveanything you need to move from across town.
You know you're moving down to AlbertLee. They can hook you up

(01:30):
and get a hold of College muscleMovers. Look for them online. Brandon.
Thanks for doing what you do andthanks for getting up early and helping
us out with Christmas wish. Ofcourse, please hold Brandon, let's get
started. Who is the person,Rachel, that you are doing the wish
for today? We're doing it forgood family friend of ours, the black
Hawk family. Okay, and Cheryl, how do you know the black Hawk

(01:53):
family? We go way back abouttwenty five years. I can kind of
read what I got here. No, that doesn't not yet. We want
to have you read that when weget them on the phone. Yeah,
you wrote them obviously a long longtime. Yeah, yeah, okay,
you must love these people a lot. We do very Christmas. Let's call
them right now. Are we hopingto talk to Brian or lou Anne or

(02:16):
either one? I think I gaveyou lu Anne's number because Brian's resting a
lot. Okay, but I alsohave their daughter's number if that's not successful.
So twenty five years, that's along time. How did you get
to know them in the first place? Rachel went to Confirmation and girl Scouts
with their oldest daughter friends, sokind of grew up with them at some

(02:37):
point. Okay, got it,all right, we're calling I believe lou
Anne right now live on Katie wB, hoping she'll answer the phone.
What did you tell her to getan answer to the phone. Brenda's there
with her. I think she toldher she needed help getting ready for her
work thing today. Nice. Hello, Hello, I'm calling for lou Anne.

(03:01):
Please, this is her. Hilou Anne, my name's Dave Ryan.
We're on the radio right now overat kd WB, and we have
it's good news. Have you gota minute? Yeah? Okay, you
sound like you kind of maybe knowwhat's going on. Have you ever heard
of Katiewb's Christmas wish? Lou Anne? I have I trust me? I

(03:24):
have? Yes, Okay, good. We've been doing it for a long
long time. And guess what twofriends of yours are here that want to
talk to you. Rachel and Cherylsay good morning him. Oh hi guys.
They wrote in to nominate you andyour family and Brian for a katiewb

(03:47):
Christmas wish, And we're live onthe radio right now and I'm going to
have Cheryl read what she wrote tous about you and your family. Is
that okay? Yeah, okay, okay. We've known the Blackhawk family for
about twenty five years. Some ofour favorite memories have been camping together,

(04:09):
going on mission trips through church, and spending holidays together. A fun fact
about this family is that after theirthree biological kids were older and out of
the house, Luanne and Brian starteddoing foster care. They have fostered over
one hundred children throughout the years andeventually ended up adopting five of those foster
kids, to which they are stillcurrently raising in their household. This family

(04:31):
exemplifies pure love and you can alwayshear laughing coming from their house. About
six months ago, the black Hawkfamily got some terrible news. Brian was
diagnosed with brain cancer. Between chemoappointments, Dad spends most of his time

(04:51):
resting, causing him to be unableto share in any of the family duties.
Before the cancer, you could findDad fixing something around the house,
cracking a joke about farting, orbanging nineties hip hop while watching sports in
the garage. The cancer has createda shift in the household, placing most
of the responsibilities on mom. Mamhas stepped up and done her best to

(05:13):
continue to keep the kids in activitieswhile supporting the flow of the household,
all while working a full time job, and she's doing a terrific job.
If we could hope for anything forthe black Hawk family, it would be
for them to receive some joy duringthis uncertain time. Wow, five adopted

(05:35):
kids in your house? Yeah, the youngest of seven. Well, let's
talk about these kids. First ofall, My gosh, what an admirable
thing to do to take in thesefoster kids and treat them as your own
and give them a family. AndBrian was a huge part of that.
Everything from blasting the nineties hip hopto the fart jokes around the house,

(05:59):
I mean, Brian was a bigpart of what made their lives happier.
Yeah, that is for sure. And how is Brian doing right now this
morning? He's still sleeping. Yeah, it's not good. It's not good.
He's probably he's probably sleeping a lotlately. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And the kids miss old Brian, who is like, you know,

(06:20):
building things, fixing things, playinggames, that type of thing. Oh.
Absolutely. And Brian is also,of course you can tell by our
name, is Native American, andso all our children are Native Americans.
So he's very spiritual. And thepowwalls and the and just everything that we've

(06:41):
learned from him and the children havelearned from him has been really important in
their lives. I so admire youfor doing what a lot of us,
having one foster kid would be ahuge thing to take on. But five
we want to make this a littlebit easier for you. And I wish
there was more we could do,but we're gonna do all we can.

(07:03):
Let's talk about your youngest. IsCamille? Am I right about that?
Yeah? Is that Camille? Camil? Right there? Hi, Camille,
you're on the radio right now.Camille. We got some things for you,
just you know, and I'm gonnatell I'm going ahead and tell you
what they are in advance, becauseit's kind of fun and you can if

you know, have a little troublegrasping everything. Is that true?
It kind of is. I dohave them all in therapy, and we
we're pretty open and we talk, and so I'm hopeful that you know,

(11:35):
they'll be okay, Yeah, Igotcha. I don't you know, what

healthy people in your house. Andthat's something that we so take for granted,
is the healthy people in our house, that nobody is in the hospital
and nobody is going back and forthto chemo. We take that for granted
