Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, it's Katie Bailey and I and vont were
sitting around talking yesterday about something that made you think
about the dating world and men and things that you.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Had a problem with.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:11):
So I've been going to a lot of like singles events,
I did that Date Night podcast, I do Pitch a
Friend things, and so I've been hearing a lot of
like wants and needs from different men who are like,
here's my list of qualifications for dating, and so many
of these men who are likely in their thirties, the
majority of the ones that I've been hearing from in

(00:33):
their thirties, late thirties, even who said that they will
not date mothers, like no single moms period. And I
am I mean, I'm not really in a spot to
be like, why not, sir? Why not sir? Because I'm
in the impression here. I mean, we're all in our thirties.
For the people that I'm like dating pool in, we're

(00:54):
all in our thirties. The odds that you're going to
have a single mother in your dating pool is pretty high.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Pretty high.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yeah, And like if I was twenty three and I
said no moms, Okay, that makes sense. I'm twenty three,
but I'm thirty eight and I say no moms. What
do you mean no moms? Like you might have that
that might be your option is a mom. Because I'm
under the impression like, okay, if I'm looking for someone
to date, and if somebody said, oh, as a kid,
you're deal breaker, Absolutely not, because I don't need, like, okay,

(01:25):
you have a kid, because you have an entire life
before me. And I just think a lot of these
guys who say no moms, I want to know why
they say no moms, because in my brain it just
doesn't make sense.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I can take a guess. I think you would prefer
no mom. But at the same time, you might meet
somebody wonderful and then find out she's a mom. And
I know that certain women will not tell you upfront
that they are a mom. Yeah, they'll they'll tell you later.
I dated Julie. I was thirty ish or so, and

(01:58):
that Julie.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Was a mom. But she it was a weird situation.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
She lived with her mother, so she had a built
in babysitter all the time, so her child, who was
about three at the time, never really was a factory.
It is like Julie and I would jet off to
somewhere exotic like Prescott, Arizona, and the kid was never
a factor. But I don't think that I've ever dated
anybody who was seriously who had a kid, and certainly

(02:27):
not past the age of thirty.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
I because I'm thinking too obviously, there's a difference between
like not wanting kids, so like, oh, I don't want
to date a mom because I don't want kids.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Period.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Like if that's your path for your life, that's great.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
If you don't want kids, you don't want kids.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
But if you are somebody who wants kids and you're
a thirty eight year old guy and you say no.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Moms, that's what irks me. I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
How would you feel about a thirty eight year old
woman who said, I don't want I don't have kids.
I've chosen not to have kids. I don't want to
date a guy with kids.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I think that's fine because if.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Why is it okay? What's the doubles?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I just said, there's no double standard.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I'm saying if your choice is I don't want to
date a mom or dad or whoever because they have kids,
and your reasoning is because you don't want kids, that
is a valid reason to not want to date a parent, Okay,
but and so like not even mom, dad, whatever. If
you don't want to date a parent because you don't
want to be a parent, that's fine. But like, if

(03:22):
you guys are on the same page there, like me
and my partner don't want to be parents, fine, But
if you do want kids and you don't want to
date a parent, that's what doesn't make sense to me,
Like you only want your own kids.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Sometimes, Yeah, I think that might be it, because there
always going to be some other man's kids, and sometimes
you don't want to deal with another man showing up
at the graduation at the softball tournament. So I don't know,
I've never really dealt with that situation. Julie's baby daddy
was he was here and there, he was there, but

(03:55):
he was never a problem.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, so I don't really have a whole love experience before.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I'm just trying to like put my feet into the
shoes of guys who don't want to date a woman
with kids, And I'm gonna guess it's just it's kind
of like you don't want a used car. If you
don't have to have a used car, you want a
brand new shiny car that's only been your car, I
mean either analogy.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Even so, if you're thirty.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Five to forty five to in that age range and
you say I want my own kids, like you're getting
to the point where you're getting kind of older, and like,
so are you gonna forty five and have your own kid?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I think there are some guys who are absolutely fine
with dating a woman with kids, yeah, and some guys
who are not.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
And that's just kind of the way it is. We
got people on the phone here to explain this.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Explain this to Bailey and see what's going on six'
five one nine eight nine Katiewb, aaron what's?

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Up? Aaron?

Speaker 5 (04:43):
Yes. Hello so WHEN i first started dating my now,
husband he had a rule that he didn't tell people
that he was dating about the children that he had
right away because he wanted the person to get to
know him you more. Hands but then ALSO i have
talk to do this that have been LIKE i don't

(05:05):
want to stay a mom BECAUSE i want to sire
my own. Children AND i thought that that was the
most disgusting reasons behind.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
It sire who says that, Anymore i'm going to sire
my own childrens.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
My own, children and SO i don't want you to
already have.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Them it's like an, old tiny like royalty, thing like mean.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Father, Yeah i'm going to sire my own never in
that contents, strange, Right it's, Gross.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
It is, gross but it's definitely something That i've heard.
Before so maybe that's part of like the weird reasoning behind,
it not getting it as like, yay that's a good.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Excuse but, like.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
You, know it's really interesting because some step parents become
just as close or closer than the actual, parent and
then some of them the kids just never really gets.
Attached and you, KNOW i don't know they didn't never
really form that, attachment BUT i think a lot of the,
time of course they do text messages to see, Basically,
bailey make your statement.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Again, YEAH i JUST i was qualmed over the fact
that in my dating life in like thirty five to
forty five year old men say that they will not
date a single. Mom AND i don't understand people in
their thirties forties who are dating who say they will
not date a. Parent it doesn't make sense to me
because the likelihood the pool that you're looking in is

(06:32):
going to be looking towards parents and or at least divorce.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
People so would you date would you date a gay
with the kids right?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Now?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah dat? Kids? Yeah any AGE i mean any age,
kid any age.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Kid, YEAH i don't.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Care, YEAH i don't like. Babies but, okay so, YEAH
i would saying it is a matter of personal.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Choice well, yeah but that's, well that's WHAT i was, Saying,
like if you don't want children, yourself it makes sense
to not want to date a, Parent but if you
do want, KIDS i not date a parent BECAUSE.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
I don't want your. Kids is that an? Ass, yeah
that's What i'm.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Saying fair, answer, right WHICH i just think that's that's
what irks me IS i don't want your.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
KIDS i want my own.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Kids but you're forty years, old, Sir how are are
you going to have your own kids if you are?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Single right?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Now you, KNOW i don't disagree with. You i'm just
trying to make you defend your. Argument, Yeah i'm. Trying
in law school WHEN i went to law, school this
is what you try to get people to.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Do where was that At William?

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Mitchell William, mitchell who's that?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Guy you know?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
What where's that local philosopher down, downtown, downtown.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Downtown so let me ask you a question.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Here, SO i wonder if there are people who if
you meet their kid and their kid is a little,
terror do you ever GO i like her a, lot
but her kid's a little a. Hole whether he's an
eleven year old boy or whether he's, troubled think about that.
One if he's, troubled then he's, sixteen would you be, like,
oh on a troubled sixteen year old that can't stay

(07:59):
out of, trouble you? KNOW i, mean, YEAH i wonder
if sometimes it's, like, OH i really really like, her
But i'm going to avoid that one BECAUSE i don't
want a troubled eight year old or a misbehaving braddy
seven year. OLD i think that's. Legit, yes look at
some text. Messages there's a bunch of text, Messages. BAILEY

(08:19):
i watched your episode of The Date night, podcast and
you were by far the best. One i'm so disappointed
in the guy and also men in. General we are
not here to bash, men but, OKAY i bet he
doesn't go anywhere with a girly. Picked she was drier
than a popcorn. Fart you were fun and funny and so.
SMART i, mean that's.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
What, honestly that's what made me think about. It because
there was one woman he went on a date with
who it. Was they're ten minute, dates and three minutes
into her date she said she had, kids and he
cut the date.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Off right, Now, Okay he's, like, WELL.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I don't want to date, moms And i'm, like, well
what do you mean you don't want to date?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Moms now here's ONE i got a text message at katiewb.
One it, SAYS i have a boyfriend who's always Said
i'm not going to date anybody with a kid and
didn't want a kid of his. Own but THEN i
came into his life and he rethought. That we've been
going strong for three and a half. Years it's little,
literally because he didn't want to deal with the possible
drama that comes with a single. Parent, yeah but here's the.
Thing he found a single. Parent there was no. Drama

(09:16):
AND i, think if you love somebody, enough you're not
going to walk away from the love of your life
just because she has a.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Kid.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
YEAH i think if you go into it, thinking, oh it's,
baggage a parent is going to have. Baggage SO i
won't date a parent you're really closing yourself off to
something that could be really.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Great, well it's like it's like any dating, criteria, right
it really. Is it's, like, Ah i'm not going to
date a guy with a. Beard beard's. Gross, Okay well
there goes eighteen percent of all. Guys WELL i got a.
DATE a guy's got to be at least four inches
taller than. Me well there goes another fifty. Guys what
if you met a guy who was five foot six
and you're, like, Damn i've never met anybody who makes

(09:53):
me feel this. Way, Yeah AND i think that's one
thing about dating. Criteria i'd never date a bald.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Guy why? Not well what somebody might.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Say but then you meet a bald guy and you
might write him off without even realizing he could be. Wonderful,
crazy could be LIKE i never date a meth. Addict
that's a good. Criteria that's that's a good BAR U,
katie good, Morning good. Morning what do you want to
add to the.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Conversation uh, SO i am fairly. Sorry i'm a fairly
young single mom with three. Kids i'm thirty. Seven twins
are about to turn. Seventeen youngest is about to turn. Eleven,
OKAY i have dated men's like single, fathers but LIKE
i have no interest in blending of family or anything
being that. Serious, okay so that would kind of like

(10:40):
be my line in this dand, like, yeah sure we can,
date but LIKE i don't really want anything to do
with your, kids AND i don't want you to have
anything to do with.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Mine so tell me go into, detail tell me why
is that?

Speaker 6 (10:50):
Why, okay so the by TWINS i had WHEN i was,
TWENTY i met my ex cousin and we had more children.

Speaker 7 (11:00):
And then that broke. Off BUT i don't know that
was just in a weird. EXPERIENCE i mean they were
infants when we, met BUT i don't. KNOW i just you,
know especially with kids as old as mine, are as
they are almost seventeen year, old men, themselves like they
don't want some new dude coming.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
In and that's a really good.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Point And i've, YEAH i think it's easier if like
the kids are the same age and you blend the
family and they're seven and nine years. Old, Yeah but
if they're sixteen and, nineteen what they start dating each?

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Other, oh this.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Isn't The brady bunch of get out of.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Here, yeah breaks Banging, marsha, gosh, no thank, You, KATIE
i appreciate. That, okay did we miss? Anything is there
anything else you want to add to?

Speaker 2 (11:36):
This it's really.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Interesting, yeah we have a lot of a handful of text.
Messages this person, says my brother is forty three and
made a comment that he'll never date someone with kids
because he doesn't want to be someone's second.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
CHOICE i was so.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
ANNOYED i told him he should be more open, minded
and it's probably why he's still. Single someone else, says
as someone dating in their, forties the difference between a
parent and a single person without kids is like living
in a different. World, schedules weekend, trips everything is.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Affected it is true because the kids have got you
got the kids on the.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Weekend M and then someone.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Else, SAYS i think it's good to express what you want,
upfront though a single mom probably doesn't want to date
someone who doesn't want, kids so best for men to
be honest and save everyone. Time AND i totally get, that,
like be honest about what you want. UPFRONT i just
want people to, question like why is this WHAT i?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Want you? Know, like because, Well.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I'm going to read something that says it, SAYS i
respectfully feel Like bailey's argument is. Unfair, now this is
from a. Mom we are allowed to acknowledge what we
want and what we don't. WANT i absolutely think it's
one hundred percent okay for a person to say no
moms or no. Dads as a, MOM i don't want
to waste my time on somebody with that attitude about.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Kids, Okay, YEAH i mean. VALID i just want to,
know like, why like the why behind.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
It, hey you're more worried about why they don't want
to date. You you don't have any. Baggage you don't make.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
It you don't have a.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Baggage it's.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Broke you have a delightful, cat you're kind of. Hot,
yeah you're fun to hang out. With you get an
easy personality to be. AROUND i mentioned you're.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Broke?

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Broke, well why do called what's wrong With? Bailey and
people can call. It we'll just do it on no
phone screen Of.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
Friday the calls will never end With.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Bailey are you actually writing that?

Speaker 8 (13:18):
Down?

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Yeah because you sounded like you were actually. Interested so
that's Why i'm writing it. Down what's wrong With?

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Bailey all? Right, no why would you do that when
we can just name them for. You what's wrong With
Van let's find that. One, well he's got a. Partner
oh well that doesn't ask. Her she'll come down with it.
Exactly she'll have a scroll that.

Speaker 8 (13:38):
He wears too much. Cologne he has a big head
that gets his teeth that gap in his. Teeth, THOUGH
i just don't think AND i know you would have
put a pin on. THIS i maybe IF i met
the right, PERSON i would be willing to do, it
BUT i, think, yeah there would just be baggage and
the same somebody can say the same thing about me.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Too as a.

Speaker 8 (13:55):
Guy there's too much baggage with having being with somebody
that has kids.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Already, okay that's wrong With.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Bailey you have.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
A mysterious lump On.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
WEDNESDE i want to get this shaved off. Truly, yeah
it's like as a kelcium build. Up, well it kind
of looks like a, horn it.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
DOES i hate that you notice.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
THAT i actually have never ever noticed it until you
pointed it. Out but my job as your friend is
to make you feel self conscious and uncomfortable and rib
you as your. Friend that's what you. Like when you

Thing oh all, right what do you?

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Wonder why? Not what do you? Got?

Speaker 9 (16:55):
WELL i like to think that sometimes you got to
put the kids in front of what you. Want it's
not about what you, Want it's about what they. Need
what does that mean that when it's a single mom
raising a couple of, kids or and their father is not,
around sometimes man's got to step up and it's not

(17:15):
always about what he wants or what she, wants it's
about what they.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
NEED i think that's a very generous way to look at.
It But i'll be. Realistic i'm never gonna be, Like,
Okay i'm dating this girl Named donna is my. Sister
i'm dating this girl Named. Carla carla's got a couple of.
KIDS i Like carla a. LOT i feel a responsibility
toward her. Kids, NO fm, kids they're on their. OWN i,
Mean i'm being a little bit tongue in. Shape, yeah

(17:40):
BUT i would never be, like you, know those kids
need a father.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
FIGURE i don't think that's into a relationship with a.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Mother BUT i respect what You're, yeah let's get on

that's a.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Float convertible would be. ONE i, said, buggy yea. Buggy.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yeah being one thing in a parade is bonkers to
me because that's what that what makes up a parade
is the.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Floats so that's what threw me. OFF i understand again
the company float that float For Spirit.

Loves them Snow, white Starring Rachel zegler And, galagadot is
available to stream now At Disney Plus. Netflix vont mentioned
this earlier debuted the Documentary tightened The Ocean gate. Disaster

(26:06):
the second anniversary of that imploding is exactly one week from,
today so that was two years ago.

Speaker 8 (26:15):
Already like when it, happened we were just, like what's
going on and what Was everybody thought it was a bad,
idea but they did it, anyway right Geez.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
YEAH i think that they were warned against, it and
the guy who put it together was not like scientifically
qualified or engineering, qualified and it just reached a depth
where it just you, know the ocean is very heavy
and like two miles down and so it just.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Collapsed it was just like a bunch of rich people
who are, like, hey let's go down into the.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Ocean it.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Was and one thing that made me sad was it
one was a father and son AND i think about
doing something like you, know, adventure not THAT i would
have ever Taken carson to the bottom of the ocean
to See. Titanic but you just think of like a
father bonding with his son and it was probably over
before they even knew. IT i mean when it, Collapsed
i'm sure it was like maybe there was a creek
or a what and then it was just.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
Over, yeah, yes exactly like. THAT i want to pass
along another. ONE i started, watching if Not New, new
but the pe we As himself. Documentary it's two, episodes
okay ON Hbo MAX i.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
STARTED i watched the first.

Speaker 8 (27:15):
ONE i didn't realize how much of a class Act
Paul rubins is BECAUSE i love like older comedy Like
conan O'Brien that type of, vibe And Paul rubins is
definitely just as like witty and like smart and just
like on it with this.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
COMEDY i have not watched. That so that's that's one
that's on my list That i've just kind of forgotten.
About so Now i've Got i'm finishing Watching apollo Thirteen
survivor or whatever it's, called which is a, documentary not a,
movie and THEN i want to watch the Titan Submarine
Ocean gate disaster, thing and THEN i want to watch
The Pee Wee herman, thing so a lot of. Stuff

(27:48):
there's another one that you might want to. Watch it's
Called Botched. Presents Plastic surgery rewind debuts right after the
fourth Of july holiday, weekend and there's a bunch of
celebrities of reality stars who consider going under the knife
to reverse their cosmetic. Procedures and it's almost a cliche

(28:09):
to talk about bad plastic surgery because it's, Like, okay
you look at somebody who who's Like monica From. Friends
what's her, Name Oh, Cox Courty. Cox, yeah she looks
not good nor pretty. Bad but then there's some people
who've had such great plastic, surgery Like Chris. Jenner Like Chris,
jenner by the, WAY i never found, attractive not in the,

(28:30):
least and probably because of who she. Is, yeah but
she is not LIKE i would rather go without yeah
than to be With Chris jenner for the rest of my.
Life Aaron rodgers is now. Married he tied the knot
a couple of months. Ago he was spotted at The
Kentucky derby wearing a band on his ring finger and
then somebody asked about it and he, said, YEAH i got.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
MARRIED a couple of months, Ago so good to.

Speaker 8 (28:53):
Know mackilmore's house got broken into and the woman that
was watching his house and his kids got sprayed with bear,
mace WHICH i could assume is not a beautiful. Experience
they got away with like thousands of dollars of jewelry
and diamond watches and rings and.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Stuff.

Speaker 9 (29:07):
Dang.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
YEAH a friend of mine's a cop and she as
part of her duty as a, cop she had to
get maced and, taste which is the darts that go
in your. Back, yeah and then they say taste or
taste or taste her and then they tasee and you
go down and YOU i, mean you go down a Hard,
yeah what do you? Get, LIKE i didn't know you
could just buy bear mace off the. Street it's not

(29:29):
really regulated and you probably get it At. Dicks we
got it At Yellowstone park in the gift.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Shops.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Really oh, yeah, wow tasting Is that's not what we
did to? You And, vaughan is? It dave me And
jenny with? That that was just stun gun stun Guns,
okay different.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Things Stun gun's totally.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Different probably not the best defense because it's only effective
when it's contacting. You it will keep people away from
you because while you hold up this thing that looks
like a cell phone with two giant prongs and sparks
going between, Them, yeah nobody wants to approach. You but
if they knock it out of your hand and then it,
doesn't it doesn't make you go.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Down it just.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Hurts AND i think one of the myths of a stun,
gun AND i THINK i got this right is it
makes you go, down and it. Doesn't it just. HURTS
i mean if you held it to, somebody but you're
not gonna do that because you're can be fighting you off.
Right mentioned this, Earlier listening to the radio is great
