Get ready for tomorrow's Nutritional Science Todayright here, right now. Hello,
and welcome to Invite Health Radio.I am doctor Amanda Williams, Scientific
director at Invite Health. Happy Saturday. You know, time flies, and

(00:44):
I am always a big fan ofspringing forward. I love when the time
change happens. And I didn't evenrealize that it's this weekend, so that's
something to look forward to for sure. And then there's a little lull before
we get into March madness. Forthose of you who have listened to me
before on the show, you know, I am a big fan of not

(01:06):
just college football, but also collegebasketball, so I'm super excited to see
how things pan out next weekend forall of the big tournaments, and then
who gets in and just March madness. It's always exciting time of year,
and we have the Oscars tomorrow,so for those who are into the arts

(01:27):
and entertainment, we've just got anaction pack weekend. Today ironically is a
National Barbie Day, and it isbecause Mattel came out with Barbie back in
nineteen fifty nine, the very firstBarbie. So we know Barbie's up for
an oscar tomorrow, so we'll seehow all of that plays out. I

(01:49):
have a lot of ground to coverwith you today when it comes to health
and nutrition and of course our wonderfuldietary supplements that we offer at Invite Health.
Doing this for twenty five years,I'd say we're pretty darn good at
putting together some really remarkable nutrients tooptimize your health. As you know,

(02:09):
Jerry Hickey is a master formulator whenit comes to our products that we have
in the line, and I'm goingto highlight some of those for you today.
But I do want to start offwith something that was quite interesting.
You know, I'm down here inSouth Florida and we're starting to get the
mugginess. It's starting to come. But that's okay. I can accept that.

(02:35):
But fau Florida Atlantic University is justup the road for me in Boca
Ratone, and they have been reallydoing some interesting research over at their medical
school, and probably about a yearago they came out with their findings on
ultra processed foods and they were actuallyquite surprised by how many Americans are consumed

(03:00):
ultra processed foods as part of theirdaily chloric intake. It's upwards of seventy
percent of your calories each day cancome from ultra process foods. And you
know, I am a big advocateof adherence to a Mediterranean diet. It's
truly the best way. I mean, the science is enormous when it comes

(03:22):
to the health benefits of the Mediterraneandiet. And I don't like using the
word diet because I always say dietfor most people kind of sends off a
flag in the brain of you know, caloric restriction or trying to lose weight.
But Mediterranean diet is really a Mediterraneanstyle way of eating, and unfortunately

(03:42):
a lot of places throughout the Mediterraneanthey don't even eat that way anymore because
of our influence of ultraprocessed foods. So you're starting to see some health markers
throughout the Mediterranean, where you know, you have an uptick of obesity and
diabetes. So they're kind of mimickingthe the same bad health patterns that we
have here in the United States. But FAU, they just came out with

(04:06):
another study on ultra processed foods. They really kind of dove into this a
little heavier after, you know, coming out and saying, wow, you
know, seventy percent of those calorieseach day are coming from ultra process foods
and what does this actually mean, you know, for health in general.

(04:27):
And they're kind of coining it asthe new silent killer. And remember in
the past, we always recognize themain silent killer as being hypertension, and
now they're saying, you know,it's really the foods, and we have
to correlate this. So the researchersover there in boke Up started to look

(04:48):
at those ultra process foods and thedifferent additives the emulsifiers that they're using in
those different food products. And rememberthis is a cross the board. It's
so hard to avoid ultra processed foodsanymore because they've really pushed it to the
American population that, oh, youdon't have time to eat healthy and so

(05:12):
it is a very unfortunate thing. But we know we can make smarter choices
and we do drive our own buswhen it comes to what we put into
our bodies. So you just haveto be proactive. I always say that,
please be proactive to your own health. We come into this world with
one body and we have to beable to be kind to our body.
Our bodies can be very forgiving. So say you've messed up for the first

(05:35):
three, four, five, sixdecades of your body's life, that's okay.
We can bounce back from that.So and work with one of our
nutritional experts, because they are wonderfulat not just helping you identify which products
in our product line for you tobe taking on a regular basis, but

(05:55):
also for you know, helping younavigate what can be overwhelmed when it comes
to just foods and exercise and stressmanagement. So please talk to one of
our nutritional experts. They're available sevendays a week. Now back to the
study. So they're looking at theoils and the fats and the sugars and

(06:17):
all the different mulsifiers and chemicals thatare contained in ultra processed foods. And
one of the big areas that theyreally were able to zero in on is
the amount of dys biosis this iscreating in the body. What is dys
biosis means? It means taking atyour natural microbial environment that resides within the

(06:42):
intestines to keep us healthy and keepeverything regulated, not just your bowel movements
regulated, but all of our differentsystems. When you think about the gut
brain connection, so your mood, looking at your gut liver connection, and
how you do toxify every single day. So they said, so many of
these ultra processed foods contain these differentcomponents and additives to them that our microbiome

(07:13):
says, what in the world isthis and they don't know what to do
with it, And so we getthis sudden shift that occurs in the microbial
environment, and so we start toharbor more and more bad bacteria which can
lead to these different disease states. So food for thought, eat healthy and
what does that mean, because that'salways a common thing that you hear as

(07:36):
well, just eat healthy, Butwhat does that actually mean? Well,
go to invite health and we willhelp you identify how to actually eat healthy
and achieve that because it's not thatdifficult I use myself as an example.
I used to have a horrible diet. And I always say, you know,
back when I was in medical school, if someone would have came to

(07:58):
me and said, hey, Amanda, give this patient some advice on eating
healthy, I mean I was definitelynot the hallmark, you know, person
to look at for eating healthy.I had a absolutely horrific diet throughout medical
school. Youth was on my side, so that's what I credit, you

(08:24):
know, being able to muddle throughevery single day was I was much younger,
and so I had a lot moreCohen's. I'm Q ten and everything
was running, you know, fairlyefficiently, even though I wasn't fueling my
body properly. But I would nothave been the right person for someone to
talk to. I would have said, yeah, eat healthy, and they
would have said, well, whatdoes that mean. I'd say, I
don't know, And it's just it'sa term that we use eat healthy.

(08:46):
But eating healthy is really not difficult. It's eating whole foods, eating fruits
and vegetables. Remember you're supposed toget two to three cups of vegetables per
day, one to two cups offruits per day, and if you want
to challenge yourself. Just keep alittle food diary for like two or three
days. It doesn't have to becomplex. You don't have to write,

(09:07):
you know how many ounces, youknow, you don't have to get super
specific, but just kind of jotdown everything that you're eating. And then
you go back and you look atthat, and you can even bring that
into an invite health store and oneof our nutritionists will go through that with
you and they will not judge anythingthat you've been eating, trust me,
because they've all been there too.And then we can help you identify where

(09:30):
we can start to make little adjustmentsto the foods that you're eating. And
trust me, once you make thatshift and you start eating healthy, truly
healthy foods that your body can utilize, that actually help to optimize your microbiome,
which in turn helps your mood andyour sleep and your stress response,

(09:52):
you're going to feel really good. And I use myself as that example.
I feel so much better now thenI did all those years ago when I
was in medical school. So youcan do this. If I did it,
trust me, you can do ittoo. Now let's move on to

(10:13):
some supplements, because that's what we'rehere for, right we want to talk
about what we can be using tohelp our body along. And we know
that there's basic nutrients that we reallyneed to get in each and every single
day. So if you're not currentlyusing a complete multi vitamin multimineral complex,

(10:37):
by all means, check out ourextensive line of multize. So we have
the Core multivitamin. That's an excellentstarting point. Get that full spectrum of
your key vitamins and minerals, thoseactivated B vitamins that really help to energize
up your cells, helps with redblood cell production, helps to regulate the

(11:01):
amount of nutrients that your liver getsto help detoxify. Your liver is highly
reliant on B vitamins to be ableto detoxify a lot of times people don't
think about B vitamins that way.So taking the Core multivitamin as a starting
point is a really good place. And of course you get the wonderful bioflavonoids

(11:22):
and the carotenoids in that natural vitaminE, which really makes a difference with
cholesterol management. It's interesting the wayin which vitamin E is working in the
body. It works along the samepathway that statin drugs work. So you
have this enzyme pathway, and soif you're taking a statin medication, what

(11:46):
that's actually doing, it's mechanism ofaction is it's blocking what is known as
hmg CoA reductase. So not thatyou necessarily need to know that, but
this house statins are working. Theylower your cholesterol because it's blunting that cholesterol
pathway. So we also know thatvitamin E works along that same pathway.

(12:13):
But what's nice about vitamin E it'sa natural antioxidant. So not only is
it helping to lessen that cholesterol ifyou are dealing with elevated cholesterol, but
it's also giving you powerful antioxidants tohelp fight off oxidation that can occur within
your cholesterol particles. So we neverwant to have oxidized LDLs, and you

(12:39):
can actually have that blood test done. Your doctor is never gonna run this
as a standard blood test, trustme, but you can find doctors who
will run this. And if yousee that you have a high amount of
oxidize LDLs, then you can makeadjustments to what you're doing every day.

(13:01):
So maybe you add in in additionto the core multivitamin. You then add
in our toke trian al extract withthe pine bark really great way as a
statin alternative. So I always liketo highlight that. So we know that
taking a multivitamin every day is keyto kind of really fast tracking our daily

(13:24):
routine. But we cannot overlook omegathree fatty acids and the importance of omega
threes because we know that if wefall into that category where we're just ultra
processed foods all the way, we'redefinitely not getting adequate exposure to those very
important and essential by the way,Omega three fatty acids. So what do

(13:46):
we do. Well, we lookat krill oil and I want to tell
you all about our Antarctic kryl oilformulation, incredibly powerful. I've been in
this industry for a very long timenow, not to date my self,
but a very long time. There'sa lot of krill oils out there on
the market. Not all krill oilsare made the same source the same,

(14:09):
the potency of the total omega threesare not the same, and the invite
health krill Oil Advanced is a superpowerhouse of in a mega three fatty asset.
So I want to talk about thescience of our krill Oil Advanced but
I do need to squeeze in aquick break, so stick around with me.

(14:30):
I will be right back just afterthis. For twenty five years,

(15:37):
morning to everyone. I am doctorAmanda Williams, Scientific director at Invite Health.
Remember our stores are open seven daysa week. You can go in
and you can have a chat withone of our nutritional experts. That is
a free service and it's so important, you know. I, as I

(15:58):
mentioned, I've been in this industrynutrition, dietary supplements for for so many
years now, and it can bereally overwhelming. And you know, I'm
on the science side of it,so you know, I'm doing other things.
But I always look and think, you know, if I didn't have

(16:18):
the background that I have, ifI didn't go to medical school, and
I didn't have, you know,my master's degree in you know, nutrition
and you know, public health,I would not have a clue as to
you know, what is an omegathree fatty acid. I mean the average
person, Like, why would youknow that? Right? So it can

(16:38):
be kind of overwhelming. So evenif there's products that I talk about on
this show that you say, youknow, I think that that sounds good
for me, maybe I should betaking that. Please go and talk to
one of our nutritional experts because theycan kind of get under the hood and
understand more about, you know, what your health goals are, where you

(16:59):
may be having some struggles. Alwayssay you want to start at a base
point always, and you know, including Omega threes is something that I say
everyone should be on. So acomprehensive multivitamin multimineral along with taking an Omega
three fatty acid every day. It'svery important. But please stop buy and

(17:22):
talk to one of our nutritional experts. We have doctor Claire. She's a
naturopathic doctor. She has so manyyears of experience and is just so kind
and really passionate about what she doeseach and every single day. So stop
by and have a chat with her. She's at our Forest Hills location,
so if you can't make it overthere, you can always give a call.

(17:42):
You can call that store directly. You can call our eight hundred number
and we're happy to patch you throughto one of our nutritional experts. So
onto Antarctic chriln and the krill oilthat we offer. It really is incredibly
powerful. The absorption rate is keyand so when we tested this product out

(18:07):
many years ago, we could seethose blood levels. And this is important
takeaway because as I mentioned before thebreak, not all krill oil, unfortunately
is made the same same thing withfish oil. And I always say,
if you want to go to Costcoand get your year's supply of fish oil
for ten bucks, then great, but is it really going to be absorbing

(18:30):
properly to give you those benefits thatyou hear us talk about on this show
when you hear Jerry talk about theimportance of you know, fish oil for
brain health and for cholesterol management andfor heart rhythm, and same thing with
krill oil. You have to beusing, yeah, the powerful extracts that

(18:51):
we use in order to see thosesame results. And so this is very
true of krill sourcing. Of krilla'sfirst place that we always look at,
so we source from those very coldAntarctic waters, and so it allows for
the healthiest of that that krill. And then you start to look at the

(19:14):
science and you know, krilla isunique in terms of its total omega component,
but also that it contains that keyphospholipid. It naturally has coline in
it, and it's known as phosphatidalcoline. But this is important because when
we start to recognize how coline itselfis working in the body, and we

(19:41):
see that coline is key for makingacetyl coling, so that we can make
new memories so that we can rememberwhat we did yesterday and make new memories
for today. So coline is aprecursor helps us make additional acetyl coline,
but it's also very important for liverdetoxification. So posatile coline is very protective

(20:03):
to your liver cells. Member yourliver cells can get quite beat up throughout
your life, and so we wantto be able to nourish our liver.
So having krill oil allows not onlyfor optimizing cardiovascular health and brain health,
but also liver health. So it'svery comprehensive and it naturally has astaxanthin in

(20:26):
it. Astaxanthin is a powerful carotenoid. So when we think of carotenoids,
we think of our eyes, butwe also think of our brain. And
so when you're supplementing with the KryloilAdvanced and ideally you're taking two capsules per
day, there are times where youmay speak with one of our nutritional experts

(20:52):
and just based on you know whatyour goals are, what health conditions you're
dealing with, they may advise thatyou take three per day, or perhaps
two capsules twice per day. Soeverybody's different, so you're not going to
get just like a blanketed. Youknow, this is how you use it,
and this applies to everybody. Wetry to personalize your supplementation routine so

(21:12):
that you get the most out ofthese formulations. But you start to look
at all of the many benefits thatgo along with daily supplementation of krill oil
advanced and you know, for supportof healthy blood glucose levels. When we
look at the support obviously of healthycholesterol. Regulating inflammation, we know that

(21:37):
chronic low grade inflammation is the backboneto all of these different disease states that
so many Americans are dealing with.So we can look at things like arthritis.
For example, millions millions of Americansare dealing with arthritis, and what
do they do. They turn toan end zid. You know, they're

(21:59):
rushing off to walls and they're gettingtheir ibuprofen. Well, how in the
world is that helping regulate inflammation andease and try and heal and repair.
It's not, But we know thatkrill oil actually can do this for us.
And it works as a lubrication withinyour joint spaces, especially for people

(22:22):
who are dealing with any type ofarthritis in your hands. And I think
this was maybe about ten years ago. I was working with UH, a
woman who was struggling with severe carpaltunnel and she had tried, you know,
all of the conventional treatments that herdoctor had prescribed to her and to

(22:44):
no avail. You know, theywanted to do surgery, and she was
very reluctant to that, and Icertainly understood why. So we started working
on some dietary modifications, lessening thoseyou know, high inflammatory foods that she
unfortunately was taking in so we changedthe diet and added in krill oil.
It was remarkable how quickly that krilloil was able to start to lessen take

(23:12):
away that inflammation within those small jointspaces. And she was she was like,
oh my gosh, I've been takingthese powerful prescription medications for pain and
inflammation and you know, kind ofin a sense numbed the pain, but
it never made it go away. And starting to use the krill, she
was like, this is like anight and day different. So krill It

(23:36):
really is remarkable, is my point. When it comes to joint inflammation,
whether we're dealing with larger joints suchas your knee, or if we're dealing
with, you know, smaller areaswithin the hand and the wrist, because
I think a lot of times whenpeople think about arthritic joints, they only
think about the larger joints, anda lot of folks do you know,

(23:57):
depending on what you're you know, occupation is or was, that you can
have a lot of damage done inthose small joint spaces. So turn to
the Krill Oil Advanced is my point. So supporting our heart, our cardiovascular
system. These are all of thethings that we know about those omega threes

(24:18):
and how they're working. And whenyou're using a powerful antarctic krill such as
what we offer in the Krill OilAdvanced, the way in which it absorbs
and is taken into our bloodstream andstarts to work incredibly quickly, you will
start to see and feel that difference. And when I say see the difference,

(24:40):
this is when you can do bloodtesting. You know, you can
directly test your fatty acid levels. That's one thing that you can do.
Doctors don't do that, but youcan get your blood levels tested of your
total omega threes and we can lookand see what that ratio is, how
many of the pro inflammatory omegas doyou have in your body versus the anti

(25:03):
inflammatory omegas do you have in yourbody. We can also look at markers
for inflammation. We can look atyour triglyceride levels, we can look at
your LDL levels. So there's alot of ways to assess the true effectiveness
of Krill Oil Advanced. And Isay that with great confidence because I'm very
comfortable knowing what our crill Oil Advancedcontains and just how powerful that is.

(25:29):
So I know if you're using it. We can see those changes in measurable
data points such as blood test, but also in the you know, the
objective. So you need to haveyour subjective in the objective. So if
you're saying, you know, hey, Amanda, I'm dealing with a lot
of pain in my knee, I'mgoing to start using your Krill Oil Advanced,

(25:51):
and I'll say, okay, we'llcome back and talk to me in
two weeks or in one month, and you say, yes, I can
see the difference. I have significantlyless pain how in my knee. So
these are the things that I expectfor you to experience when you're using our
Krill Oil Advanced. And you startto look at just the really remarkable published

(26:15):
clinical studies on krill oil. Obviously, the cardiovascular system has a really large
abundance of studies that have been conductedand really solid studies those randomized, placebo
controlled, double blind trials where theywere giving people krill oil and then assessing

(26:36):
different levels for inflammation, looking atfasting glucose levels, seeing and recognizing how
individuals who fall into that category ofmetabolic syndrome where they have insulin resistance and
they start supplementing with a powerful krilloil extract, how their blood sugar levels
start to improve. And so thisis why I always say having an omega

(27:02):
three as part of your daily supplementationroutine can be so rewarding to your system
because it's every single system. Thoseomega three fatty acids are so important for
regulation of everything from heart rhythm tobrain functionality, to the way that your

(27:22):
liver is detoxifying to blood sugar regulation. So you know, time after time
we continue to see this and thecognitive benefits are enormous with krill oil.
So if you do have concerns withmemory or focus attention, and you are
not supplementing with an omega three fattyacid, then I definitely encourage you to

(27:48):
look at the kryl oil advanced lookingat you know, keeping our brain and
our mind active as we grow olderis important. I always say, you
know, one of the major drawbacksto the high amount of ultra processed foods
that so many Americans consume is theshrinking of the brain, and it's oftentimes

(28:12):
not talked about. People usually willsay, oh, if you're not eating
good, you have to be concernedwith your cholesterol and your blood sugar.
Well, yeah, that's one component, but we don't think about the long
term effects of our brain starting toatrophy at a much greater rate than normal

(28:33):
aging would provide. So we wantto maintain the fullness, the volume of
the brain and the brain itself. It's highly complex. You know, you
have one hundred billion nerve cells knownas your neurons, and then you have
another trillion supporting cells. So that'sa lot of cells that we have to

(28:56):
make sure that we are caring forbecause if your cells are losing their functionality,
then it's no wonder why we feelbrain fog, why we don't feel
as sharp, and we know thatwhen we want to optimize our brain as
we're aging, Krill Oil Advanced canbe our partner in achieving this. So

(29:22):
I do need to squeeze in abreak right now. When I get back,
I'm gonna just mention one other studyand then I'm gonna move on to
other products, because as I mentioned, I have a lot of ground that
I want to cover today, Sostick around. I will be right back
just after this. Maintain muscle massand fuel your body with Invite Heal's brand

dot com and welcome back to InviteHealth Radio. I am doctor Amanda Williams
talking about the kryl oil advanced formulationhas the natural coaline in that along with

(30:48):
the natural astxanthon. Remember the thecryl oil contains both the EPA and the
DHA. Our brain has a limitedcapacity to produce DHA on its own,
but where it really is relying onthe omega intake is coming from our blood
streams. So this is why Imentioned that the kryloil advance, the absorption

(31:10):
rate into the bloodstream is just phenomenal. So this is why when you're looking
at different kryloil formulations on the market, you have to understand, you know,
how did they test this? Youknow, did they actually look at
the blood levels? How well thebody can actually absorb this key omega three

(31:32):
fatty ass And we know with thekrylo oil advance, we definitely can assure
ourselves that that is making its wayinto the blood stream, it can make
its way up to our brain forall of those neurons to thrive on and
help with our focus, attention andmemory moving forward. And you get that
benefit of the coaline, so thatadditional acetylchline so many ways for you know,

(31:56):
joint health, muscle health. Youknow, a lot of time you
don't think about your your muscles andhow omega three fatty acids are so important
for maintaining muscle mass. We neverwant to fall into that category of age
related muscle mass loss. It's justnot ideal whatsoever. And so through you

(32:21):
know, supplementation of krill oil advanced, we know that we're going to be
giving our muscles this wonderful way onceagain to properly thrive. And you can
look at things such as, youknow, a trail fibrillation, strong correlation
between low omega three intake in someone'sdiet and a direct correlation with a FIB.

(32:45):
It's just it really is a messwhen you think about a trail fibrillation.
Unfortunately, what happens is, youknow, if you have a FIB
and you go to your doctor, they are going to put you on a
blood dinner and they're going to say, well, you have to be on
this for the rest of your lifebecause we don't want you to stroke out
without ever looking and saying, well, what's your diet? Like, you

(33:06):
know, do you get omega threes? Are you taking crill oil advanced?
You know, what are you doingto try to offset some of these issues
that can arise. They just putyou on the blood thinner and say see
you later. Not really the idealway to address that. As a matter
of fact, American Heart Association justthis past week came out and showed that
there's a really strong correlation between intakeof sweetened beverages. So, yes,

(33:34):
folks use soda drinkers, whether thatbe straight soda or diet soda, the
zero calorie sodas. It doesn't matterif it was you know, straight sugar
or the artificial sweeteners. And Ialways say artificial shouldn't ever go in the
body. But that's neither here northere right now. The point is American
Heart Association, they drew this directconnection between intake of those sugar sweetened beverages

(34:02):
and the risk of atrial fibrillation. It was actually quite a large increase risk.
And then it was somewhere in therange of twenty percent increase risk.
And you may say, oh,that's only twenty's that's pretty high. You
know, just because you want todrink your soda that you're putting yourself at
a twenty percent greater risk of havinga trial fibrillation and then merching down that

(34:27):
path of having to be on ablood thinner for the rest of your life.
I mean, it just doesn't makemuch sense. Where we know,
you know, proper diet, adherenceto Mediterranean diet, intake of omega three
fatty acids every day, so usingthe krill oil advance, making sure you're
getting magnesium every day, Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important for heart

(34:49):
rhythm. So all of these thingsthat we know, they're just basic things,
but yet we always overlook, wedo this reactionary and we wait until,
Okay, here's the problem with theheart. You know, the rhythm
is off. What's our solution onblood thitter? No, we need to
actually say what caused this, howdid we get to this point, and

(35:12):
how can we go back and kindof undo this. Well, we just
start giving our body what it needsto properly function, including the heart rhythm.
And the heart, you know, runs on an electrical conduction system,
which is heavily reliant on magnesium. So if you are one of that seventy
five percent of Americans that has inadequatemagnesium intake each day. Well, then

(35:36):
you can see how you can runthe risk of you know, having a
fib or other conditions, even youknow, hypertension for example. Now I
want to talk a little bit aboutDGL I and the reason why I don't
talk about this product often, butI do want to talk about it because
it came to my mind this week. I had someone who reached out to

(35:59):
me who is dealing with some upperGI issues and they didn't want to take
you know, standard over the counternutrients to address this because they know that
had artificial colors in it and talkand corn starch and a bunch of junk.
And it's like, I don't wantto take that, and I don't
blame them. So we started totalking about DGL And you know what's remarkable

(36:23):
about DGL, which is a deglistenizedlicorice extract. And the reason why that's
important is because when it's not decalistenronized, then it can create a problem for
blood pressure regulation. So our DGLlozenges they are degalistenized. So even if

(36:46):
you're dealing with high blood pressure andyou're on a medication, you can certainly
take our DGL. It's not goingto affect your blood pressure, but we
can see all of the ways towhich DGL has been studied in terms of
being able to heal and soothe theupper GI. So if you're dealing with

(37:06):
acid reflux, for example, heartburn, indigestion, DGL excellent. We see
the science on this. But inspeaking to this individual, you know,
I was pulling some different studies andyou know, there's really fascinating studies on
the anti microbial effects of licorice extractsthe DGL when it comes to your oral

(37:30):
health, and so it got methinking, I thought, you know,
I'm gonna mention this on Saturday, because there's no better way to take the
DGL than to take it in theform that we have it for your oral
health. And what they found wasthat it actually helped to minimize and inhibit

(37:51):
any type of biofilm build up thatwas occurring. And we definitely know that
when it comes to oral health youhave you know, periodontal disease or any
type you know, gingivitis for example, this can lead to systemic health issues,
including cardiovascular problems, including brain healthproblems. So oftentimes we overlook the

(38:17):
importance of oral care. And yes, going in and having your regular cleanings.
All of that is one component tothat. But just think about every
day, you know, what areour mouths. I remember, you know,
years ago with someone saying, yeah, you know, human mouth is
much you know, dirtier than adog's, and so you think, well,
what should I be doing for oralcare? So DGL I just wanted

(38:40):
to mention that because sometimes people maythink, well, I don't have heartburn,
and if you don't, hey that'sa great thing, right, but
you may not think about DGL inthe setting of oral care. So it
is very easy to take even ifyou just have it a couple of times
out of the week, you know, just chew on one of those lozenges

(39:00):
and allow for that to target anyof that gingevile back, you know,
that build up that occurs. Becausewe know that the different types of bacterial
strains, the Streptococcus for example,we know that these are the root cause

(39:22):
even for creating cavities. So ifwe want to optimize our oral care,
utilizing DGL is a really good wayfor us to turn to. And as
far as the clinical research trials inthe Journal of Plants back in twenty twenty
one, they kind of went throughand they broke it all down. You

(39:43):
know how it is beneficial not onlyfor the upper GI tract, but for
you know, treating throat infections andrespiratory health and liver health. And it
has its own natural antibacterial properties andanti inflammatory properties. So it's just one

(40:04):
of those products in our product linethat perhaps we don't highlight enough for you,
But I just wanted to mention itbecause it's a really nice thing to
just have on hand. Plus, you just never know if you go out
to a restaurant or something and youorder something that normally you don't eat,
and you get home and it's justnot really sitting well with you and you
just feel like you have a littlebit of that heartburn. Much better to

(40:28):
turn to to DGL than those otherthings that you find at Walgreens and the
likes where they put artificial color inthere. I mean, I I'm not
going to mention the brand name, but I think everybody probably knows what I'm
talking about. But when you lookat what's actually in that as I mentioned,
corn starch and talk and then theyput artificial color in there because this

(40:52):
is what they think of us.They think, oh, we We're only
going to like to take this ifit's got this pretty pink color, if
it has a pretty blue color, green color, yellow color, it's just
yikes. Because we know that theartificial colors they raise havoc on our intestinal

(41:12):
microbiome. So we know the ultraprocessed foods are creating dys biosis, but
those artificial colors, that's part ofthat. So if you have heartburn,
please don't be using that stuff thatyou find at wallgreens. Use DGL,
so DGL wonderful for oral care.I just wanted to mention that. Now,

(41:34):
what else do I want to informyou of today? Well, something
I wanted to talk about was greentea and the importance of green tea extract.
We talk a lot about green tea, and I focused on green tea
over the maybe the past couple ofshows because of its anti viral capabilities,

(42:00):
especially targeting things like influenza. Sowe know that the EGCG or the epigallocatechin
gaylate that's contained in green tea hasa lot of anti viral properties to it,
but we also know that it doeswonders when you think about anti inflammatory
action and in the Archives of PublicHealth in February, they were looking at

(42:24):
a direct causal link to intake ofEGCG and a lowered risk of cardiovascular disease,
but in particular a lowered risk ofcardiovascular disease in diabetics. So this
is important takeaway because when you lookat a diabetic and you know, outside

(42:46):
of clearly having a blood sugar controlissue, you have to look at the
systemic problems that arise in the diseasestate of diabetes, which is clycation or
sugar that circulates in your body andbecause you have too much of it,
so you have all this sugar that'sjust kind of floating around and it damages

(43:10):
your blood vessels. It happens throughwhat we know is glycation. Glycation.
If you want it, like avisual of what that looks like. Barbecuing.
Okay, so summer's not that faraway. But so you say you're
barbecuing, that charring that happens onthe food, that's glycation. So just

(43:31):
think about that for a moment.Do we want to char the inside of
our blood vessels? Is that somethingthat we should all be aiming for?
Should that be a goal? No, we don't want to have barbecued insides,
and we know that diabetics are incrediblyprone to this, which is why

(43:52):
if you have diabetes or pre diabetes, you are at a much greater risk
of cardiovascular disease or having a cardiovascularevents such as a stroke or a heart
attack because of the damage that's beencreated over time within your vascular system.
So they found that EGCG from greenTea was associated with a significant reduction in

(44:19):
the risk of stroke, the riskof a heart attack just through the action
of EGCG. Because remember, onething it can do, it can target
that glycation, but it also isa powerful antioxidant that's protecting the vessel lining
and it's regulating inflammation within the vessels. So we know that if we are

(44:42):
supplementing with the green TTX for example, very easy to use that take two
full droppers of our green TTX,get a high amount of that total EGCG,
mix that in with four to sixounces of water, just based off
of what you're taste buds like, and you can have that warm. You

(45:04):
can you know, heat that up. People often ask, you know,
if I heat that up, isthat going to somehow diminish the power of
the EGCG. No, you candrink it cold, you can drink it
hot. However you want to drinkit, just drink it. That's the
important takeaway here. But I dowant to talk about the benefits of green
tea when it comes to brain health, So I'm going to talk about that
on the flip side of this break. You are listening to Invite Health Radio

(45:29):
and I will be right back.It is cold and flu season again.

(46:36):
Health Radio. I am doctor AmandaWilliams. Now back to Green Tea when
we start to analyze the power ofEGCG and we have our Green Tea extracts,
so that's the the liquid form.I advise using two full droppers into
four to six ounces of water. You can do that once or twice a

(46:58):
day. But consistency, that's justimportant. And the nice thing about using
the liquid tincture is it allows thosecatechins from the green tea to coat the
back of the throat. So youknow, there's still bugs out there in
the environment, you know, flu, just different colds. You know this,
do you want to always try toprotect yourself, So sipping on the

(47:19):
green tea really nice way to dothat. We also have our Green Tea
capsules, and that's nice because thatalso has black tea and then we know
that the theoflavens, those are apowerful way to lower inflammation in the body.
So black tea has its own kindof unique little spectrum. It has
EGCG in it, but also hasa high abundance of theoflavins, so you

(47:42):
can use the capsules if you'd like. So that's the Green Tea HX or
the Green Tea t X. Butone of the fascinating ways to which green
tea really can help with brain healthis it improves upon that gut microbiome.
So when we look at that microbialenvironment once again within the intestines, we

(48:04):
want to make sure that we're optimizingthat, that we're nourishing that with good,
healthy things every day, which iswhy your high fiber foods are so
important because they help to make buterrate. Buterrate it's really key. It's a
natural anti inflammatory, and we getthat from high fiber foods. So we
look at how green tea is alsoworking to improve upon the diversity of the

(48:29):
bacteria, those healthy bacteria in ourgut, and then we draw upon that
connection once again between the gut andthe brain. So when you look at
ways to bolster up brain signaling, for example, and we think about neuro
hacking, I've talked about nutritional neurohacking before. How do we optimize our

(48:49):
brain, how do we keep ourbrain sharp as we get older. This
is one of the ways that wecan do this. We can take our
Kril oil advanced, of course, but we can also include in the power
of green tea. And one ofthe ways that we know that green Tea
is working is to protect those billionsof neurons in the brain from degenerating,

(49:14):
from breaking down. It helps toease inflammation, any neuroinflammation that's occurring,
and at the same time it helpsto give this layer of protection through its
antioxidant power. So green tea superduper important. Mine's synergy. I want
to mention this product. This isone of my go tos. I actually

(49:37):
just had someone the other day reachedout to me from Australia, so from
down Under, and he listens toa lot of our podcasts that I do
as well as Jerry Hickey, andso then he'll, you know, reach
out to me and say, hey, Amanda, will listen to this podcast
on brain health and you know I'mdealing with this, what do you advise?

(50:00):
And so we had a chat aboutMine's synergy and Mine's synergy is really
quite amazing in terms of the blendof nutrients that it's contained within this product,
and it's a powder, So onceagain, it's very easy for you
to incorporate this into a daily routine. And I always mention to people,

(50:20):
even if you don't take it everysingle day, at least you're taking it,
So having some of it is betterthan not having any. And so
this is a combination of phosphatidyl coaling, So that should ring a bell for
you right now. What else hasphosphatydyle coling krill? So this has phosphatydle
colin, and then it also containsginko bloba, and gink is just remarkable

(50:46):
in terms of how it helps tosupport our circulatory system in general. So
even if we're thinking about blood pressureregulation, ginko bloba very very helpful.
It's every single vessel in our bodyis prone to the damage brought on by

(51:07):
inflammation, damage due to oxidative stressor free radicals, for example, So
we want to try and protect allof those vessels. And we know that
ginkgo, which has been around forclose to three thousand years and probably the
most well studied of any herbal extractout there, is really a powerful way

(51:32):
for us to get this circulatory supportand protection all at the same time,
and so when we think about theaging brain, we have to think about
the tiny little vascular system that feedsin to our brain. We want to
be able to protect that the bestthat we possibly can, and this is
where the Ginko boloba really can beincredibly beneficial. So we're taking mind synergy,

(51:58):
we're getting all of these powerful nutrientsthat are blended together. It also
has the alpha glyceryl phosphorl coaline,so this is a different variant basically of
coaline and alpha gpc over in Europeis actually prescribed as a medication for the
treatment of Alzheimer's. So take thatin for a second. Alpha gpc used

(52:22):
in European countries for Alzheimer's disease anddementia. We have it in our mind's
synergy formulation. So this is whyit's pretty important that, yeah, maybe
I would want to be supplementing withthe old mind synergy on a regular basis.

(52:44):
We can see how effective the wayin which genko boloba is working to
enhance not only the adequate blood flowto the brain, but for those signaling
pathways. Once again, so it'samazing when people start to supplement with gink
that they say, you know,it's a I feel really sharp, And

(53:07):
I think that that's a big complaintthat many individuals have, and sometimes we
chalk it up as like, oh, well, it's just normal aging.
I'm not supposed to be as quickas I once used to be. But
that doesn't need to be the case. You know, if we nourish our
body with the appropriate nutrients, we'regetting those omega three fatty acids to maintain

(53:28):
brain volume. If we're taking innutrients such as alpha GPC and genko bloba,
this can help to support the wayin which our brain is aging in
a much more graceful way. AndI've looked at the different MRI scans.
I oftentimes talk about this, butthe MRI scans of individuals who adhere to

(53:53):
a Mediterranean diet have a high intakeof omega three fatty acids and supplement with
genk loba on a regular basis, their brains are incredibly beautiful. And then
you look at someone who's on astandard American diet, who doesn't supplement with
a core multivitamin, who doesn't supplementwith crill oil advanced, isn't taking the

(54:15):
mind's synergy, and you can seethe level of atrophy and the degree to
which the brain can actually miss firebecause all of those billions of cells are
losing their capacity to properly interact becauseof inflammation, because of bad vascular supply.

(54:38):
So we have solutions to all ofthis, and this is why the
Mind's synergy formulation would be incredibly advantageousto add in to your daily routine.
And then, of course we wantto boost our brain, we have to
think about green tea. Now,green tea is such a powerhouse. The

(54:59):
stuff bodies that have come out ongreen tea and arthritis also so incredibly impressive.
And it's the way in which greentea can actually work to downregulate or
lower the a level of inflammation thatoccurs in the body. And so this
is why when I'm helping individuals kindof design a daily supplementation routine, it's

(55:24):
not uncommon that I will say,you know what, let's add in green
tea extract or let's add in therizvere trial max understanding the science behind how
these powerhouse nutrients are working. Sojust kind of recap some of the things
that I went over today. DGLwonderful for oral care. Can't say enough
about green tea are Krill oil advanced? Of course, if you happen to
