You're listening to Talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's premier
Jewish broadcast on the air since nineteen eighty.

Speaker 11 (12:56):
One, and now here's your host.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Welcome back to the program, Mom, Zev Brenner. It's been
a while since we last. Congressman Anthony Disposito. He is
my congressman in Long Island and he represents the area's
Long Island five towns, Liedle Beach, Lombage Land, Beach of Seth.
We're doing an amazing job, so thank you and welcome
to the program. Thank you for joining us.

Speaker 13 (13:19):
Thanks Dev, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
How are things coming along?

Speaker 13 (13:21):
Everything is great?

Speaker 14 (13:22):
You know, I tell you there's a real feeling out there,
whether it's going to local community events, whether it's the
polls that we're looking at. People are truly excited to
be voting in this year's election, and it seems like
the support day after day is getting better and better.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Because it's a tough race out there. It seems like
there's so many disparaging ads I'm watching. It seems like
every second there is another commercial attacking you. They must
be spending millions of dollars they really want you to see.

Speaker 14 (13:49):
Yeah, this is going to wind up being one of
the most expensive races in the country. So far, I
think as of this morning, we've spent combined about twenty
seven or twenty eight million dollars so far.

Speaker 13 (14:00):
In the fourth congressional district.

Speaker 14 (14:01):
And I think what's super important is that, you know,
most of our ads that have gone out talk about
the work that we've done, talk about the stance that
we have, whether it's about securing the border, whether it's
growing the economy, whether it's the work that we do
on foreign policy, or obviously our staunch support of Israel
and the Jewish people. You go to our website, same thing,

(14:22):
there's an issue tab to find out where we stand
and what we believe in. But yet my opponent, she
doesn't really talk about the issues. What my opponent talks
about is personal attacks. Because it's clear that in this election,
Democrats are completely on the wrong side of every issue
that matters to the most to most Americans. So instead

(14:42):
of talking about the issues, instead of talking about the economy, crime,
the border, again, foreign policy, they're sticking to personal attacks.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
So how effective our personal negative attacks? I know when
I've heard you speak, you speak off the coffee, you know,
reading from teleprompter, you speak from the heart. I love
high steel butt Israe. You are a good friend of
the Jewish community, a good friend of Israel. You're there.
But I spoke to some people and the youngers with
Lumitch the other day, say, oh, they didn't realize that
it's going to be a tough race out there. People
don't realize that. But the fact is though it is

(15:12):
a very competitive race, and the Democrats feel that they
can win the seat. That's why they're pouring so much
money into this race and using negative attacks in order
to get their goal.

Speaker 14 (15:21):
So I don't think that the negative, negative attacks are working.
I think that people, especially those who know me, who
have watched me represent them, who have come to me
for issues related that they needed help with. They know
the work that I do. They know that I'm always accessible.
They know that I fight hard and work hard and

(15:42):
even when I'm home, I make sure that I go
to every community event possible because I think that's the
best way to really understand what's happening. I think that
a lot of the negative ads that they're putting out there,
people are just tired of hearing, and some of them
are muting it, and I think others are Actually she's
creating more enemies by the nasty attack ads than she thinks.

(16:05):
And you know what it really is in this district
is it's about registration the Democrats. There's seventy seventy two
thousand more Democrats registered in the district than there are Republicans.
So when they're looking at the fact of trying to
take this seat back, it's simply numbers.

Speaker 13 (16:24):
But we've shown that we have the ability to win back.

Speaker 14 (16:27):
In twenty twenty two, people said this seat is impossible
to win. It's been in Democrat hands for close to
thirty years, but we did flip it and we won
by a little over ten thousand votes. And they also
need to take a look at Nassau County as a whole.
Nassau County is a place where there's one hundred and
forty thousand more Democrats than Republicans. But yet Republicans control

(16:48):
every county wide seat, the county executive to DA, we
control all three towns and both cities, one of those
cities being the city of Long Beach, which has historically
been a Democrat stronghold and is now in republic majority hands.
So this is about the Democrats losing their way. It's
about the fact that they've gone too far to the left.
And the Democrats that we know, the moderates, the independents,

(17:12):
they are voting Republican because they know that Republicans are
the party of common sense. Republicans are certainly the party
who's standing with and for Israel, Republicans of the party
who want to secure the border, Republicans who are the party.

Speaker 13 (17:27):
That want to grow the economy.

Speaker 14 (17:28):
And when you look at the top of the ticket,
people do not see that Kamala Harris could be better
for this country for another four years. She's been sitting
in the front seat as coal pilot for the last
three and a half years with Joe Biden taking this
country down a very very dangerous path. People know the

(17:49):
things that she's done, and they know the people that
they know the things that she hasn't done.

Speaker 13 (17:53):
And when it comes to President.

Speaker 14 (17:55):
Trump, you know, there are people who don't like his tweets,
don't like his attitude, perhaps don't like the way he
says things. But I think that we are going to
see this year where many people are voting on the
best interest in the United States of America and not
who they like personally.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
You mentioned former President Donald Trump. He seems to believe
that New York is winnable. He was a NASA accountant.
You were there just the other week. He's going to
be a Madison Square garden. He actually went to Queens
the other day. So do you think that he could
win New York and do much better than a traditional
Republican candidate in New York City.

Speaker 13 (18:27):
Absolutely?

Speaker 14 (18:28):
And I think that Donald Trump is going to do
very well in New York. He wants, you know, he's
talked about policies he wants to put in place. He
talked about at the Coliseum where even though it was
his idea years ago, he's realized that restoring salt to
high tax states is something that's important and he'll make
a priority. He's talked about putting no tax on tips,
He's talked about no tax on overtime, he has ways

(18:51):
that he wants to grow the economy. And yes, he's
made New York a priority because he also has great
members of Congress, whether it's myself or Lolar mal and Arrow,
La Looda Williams and others who are running in these
tough seats. And when President Trump wins on election night,
he's going to need a Republican House majority, and that

(19:12):
House majority is running right through New York and he
knows it.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
We's been with Congraing Spman Anthony the Esposito of Long Island,
and according to the latest reports I've seen, there is
a very good chance Republisan can get the Senate in
the upcoming election.

Speaker 14 (19:25):
Yeah, every poll that we're looking at looks like comfortably
will pick up three seats or have a three seat
majority in the Senate and could grow as much as six.
And getting back to Trump running in New York. Take
my district for example, Donald Trump lost the fourth Congressional
District in twenty twenty by sixteen and a half points.

(19:45):
We have not done a poll yet over the last
seven months, and we've done a lot of polls that
has him anything in the negatives. So he's either been
even or been ahead by as much as eight points.
So it's a very different district, very different Long Island,
and it's a very different New York and there are
people that are very very supportive of Republicans and Donald Trump.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Now, the Democrats, as you said, have really poured millions
upon millions of dollars into your race. They're looking to
defeat you. Question, is the Republican Party giving you enough
support in trying to get your voter base out.

Speaker 13 (20:21):
Yeah, I think we're doing a good job.

Speaker 14 (20:22):
You know, where there's outside independent expenditures coming in, whether
it's the Congressional Leadership Fund or the National Congressional Republican Party,
they are coming and they are spending a lot of money,
and we're doing our best to raise it here locally
as well. The last quarter was one of the best

(20:42):
quarters that we've had fundraising yet. So I think also
think what's important is the last quarter almost fifty percent
of the money that I raised came from within the district.
Fifty a big number. My opponent two point nine percent
of the money that she raised came from the district.
It tells you who's funding these campaigns. There was just

(21:04):
a story this week in the New York Post and
other outlets about the relationship and the money that my
opponent has taken from the Sorrows family, and the fact
that they actually paid her a forty thousand dollars fellowship
just to run for office. So she's receiving money from
places that and people who we certainly don't agree with,

(21:27):
people who are anti Semites, people who have funded the
protests at college campuses and been outright against the Jewish people.
And yes, we are spending the money, we are getting
our word out, and most importantly, it's about being in
the community. This morning, I started my day in the
village of Valley Stream. From there, I was in the

(21:48):
city of Long Beach, I was in Island Park, I
was out easton Seaford in Elmont. So that's really what
it's about. We're spending the money, we're getting the mail out.
As you know, here in Nassau County different from probably
any other congressional seat in the country, we have organization
and mechanics. The Nasau County Republican Committee, led by Chairman

(22:11):
Joe Cairo, is one of the best political political groups
and political organizations in the country. Monday, we're going to
be doing a district wide walkthrough. Last Saturday, we knocked
on fifty eight thousand doors. This Monday we looked to
knock on another fifty eight to sixty two thousand doors.

Speaker 13 (22:30):
So we have the.

Speaker 14 (22:31):
Troops out there, We're getting the work done. And like
I said, the feeling is there. I mean, I spent
a couple hours yesterday in our Franklin Square headquarters. Today
I was in our Island Park headquarters for a little while,
and there are people just coming in off the street.

Speaker 13 (22:45):
They want signs for their loans.

Speaker 14 (22:47):
They want to talk about President Trump, they want to
talk about the election.

Speaker 13 (22:52):
I've been doing this and been part of this.

Speaker 14 (22:54):
For a long time and probably my whole adult life,
and I never remember a feeling like there is right
right now out there for Republicans.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Well, certainly it's going to be an interesting race. And
I know that your campaigning running around and speaking, and
I said, I was impressed. I saw you have various locales,
you speaking without no you speak about Israel. So let's
talk about Israel, because Israel is in a very big
harrious situation. You have, for example, the President of the
United States saying don't bomb the nuclear reactor and don't

(23:22):
go into Lebanon and certainly trying to put restrictions on Israel.
There's certainly bad chemistry between both President Joe Biden and
Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Prime Minister snubbing him
when he was in Washington. So let's look at your perspective.
What should we be doing for Israel that we're not
doing right now?

Speaker 13 (23:39):
Right now, we need to be supporting them.

Speaker 14 (23:41):
I mean, obviously, from day one after October seventh, I
was one of the loud vocal voices saying that there
should have been a single subject bill to make sure that.

Speaker 13 (23:50):
Israel had the funding that they needed.

Speaker 14 (23:52):
Obviously, there was a battle back and forth, and we
eventually got to the funding that gave not only Israel,
but Ukraine, the indop CIVI, and some other of our
allies funding. But I think what's been most important is
utilizing our ability as a majority to hold accountable the

(24:14):
individuals who hate Israel, and utilize that majority in a
few ways. First is putting legislation and resolution on the
floor so that members of the House of Representatives have
to use their voting part and show the American people
exactly where they stand. When you put a resolution on
the floor of the House and says we just we're

(24:35):
saying that the term from the River to the Sea
is anti Semitic. And you have a group of people
who are unable to vote in favor of that, that
tells you where they stand. When you have individuals who
are unable to vote to just on a resolution to
support the state of Israel, that tells you where they stand.

Speaker 13 (24:54):
When you have members of Congress who.

Speaker 14 (24:56):
Are walking the halls of one of our nation's oldest
institution and spewing hate and trying to create animosity and
rise the tensions of protesters, that tells you where we stand.
When when we have committee hearings like the ones we
held in the Education and Workforce Committee, uh to to

(25:19):
call on the spot these leaders of so called educational
institutions that have allowed hate and anti Semitism to over
on their campuses and become peatrie dishes of hate. We've
been able to shine a light on these individuals, and
I think that's one of the most important things that
we've done with our Republican majority.

Speaker 13 (25:41):
And things that we continue to do. And it is
about supporting Israel.

Speaker 14 (25:45):
It's about getting on shows like this it's about talking,
you know, in the morning to a mutual friend of
our Sid Rosenberg, and making sure that we talk to
New Yorkers who listen to his show that are not
you know, perhaps are.

Speaker 13 (25:57):
Not huge support as of Israel.

Speaker 14 (25:59):
But when you keep having that conversation, people realize how
critically important it is for the United States of America
to support Israel because she is our greatest ally in
the Middle East. And when you see these people, and
I say it all the time, Democrats are the party
of protesters. My opponent, Laura Gillan comes from the party

(26:19):
of protesters. All throughout the summer when we saw these
protests on college campuses, my opponent and the opponents of
many of our New York Republicans stayed silent. Why because
they are pandering to the far left of their party.
They are no friends to the State of Israel, and
they are no friends to the United States of America.

Speaker 13 (26:37):
And that is the problem.

Speaker 14 (26:39):
When we see people streaming death to Israel, they're also
streaming death to America. Do we need to continue to
stay strong, We need to con continue to work together,
We need to continue to make sure that Israel has
every resource necessary to eradicate Hamas and terrorist organizations of
Iran off.

Speaker 13 (26:58):
The face of the planet.

Speaker 14 (27:00):
Be absolutely no cease fire until every hostage is returned
home and Homas surrenders.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Kudos. I think that has to be heard loud and clearly,
and thank you for reticulating that. Let me ask you
this question. She mentioned college campuses. It's come out that
variety of governments, including Iran, are supporting sending money to
college campuses to have these woke professors teach this anti semitism,
this hatred. What could be done to stop the flow

(27:28):
of foreign money into a college campuses which are poisoning
our minds of our kids, not just against Israel, but
against America.

Speaker 14 (27:34):
Well, I think it's exactly what we are doing, and
that's conducting these oversight hearings and oversight work in our
committees to see where the funding of these protests, where
the funding of these campuses and college endowments, where the
money is coming from. And that's exactly when we shut
that funnel off, When we shut that faucet off and

(27:55):
there's no more money coming into these colleges, or we're
providing no federal aid to these colleges who are taking
money from our adversaries in order to spew hate and
cause havoc on campuses and create harm for Jewish students.
When that federal money is cut off, and that's what
we're working towards, You're going to see a very different country.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
I'm looking for that because there really they should not
be allowed and they've been doing it for thirty forty years,
poisoning the minds of Americans and the money is in
the heavy hundreds of millions of dollars over the course
of time. Before I let you, I want to ask
about UNRA. It's one of my pet peeves that this
organization exists. I know President Donald Trump cut the funding,
but the funding is flowing again. Has turned out in

(28:38):
Lebanon and in Gaza. We found that leaders of the
UNRA have also been commas leaders and terrorist leaders, supporting terrorism.
First of all, as an ideal. They shouldn't be allowed
to exist because the United Nations mandate is after every
conflict you want to get rid of the refugees. One
exception the War nineteen forty eight. Those refugees are still
there and they're involved in terrorists. So what can be done,

(29:00):
if not to shut them down, but to cut off
at least American funding for this group that supports terrorism.

Speaker 13 (29:06):
Well, that's it.

Speaker 14 (29:06):
It's continued to cut the funding and to make everyone
realize that they're completely irrelevant. And the way to make
people irrelevant is by not fund them. And that's exactly
what we need to move forward and do. And we
need to make sure that we have a strong Republican
majority to make sure that that happens, because we know

(29:27):
that we've.

Speaker 13 (29:28):
Seen it in the past.

Speaker 14 (29:29):
You have even Democrats who claim that they are moderates,
they're voting ninety two percent of the time with AOC
with Rashida to lead with Ilhan Omar. Why because they
are scared of them. They are fearful that they will
be taken by the squad. They're afraid that they will
be primaried by someone more radical than they are. And

(29:53):
that's what we need to make sure. So we need
to make a very very serious approach at how we
look at this election, especially the New York seats. There
is no question. I said it earlier and I'll say
it again. The majority in the House of Representatives is
going to run right through New York. In twenty twenty two,

(30:13):
everyone said all the political pundits said there was going
to be this giant red tsunami that was going to
come across the United States of America. It didn't happen,
but where it did happen was in places like New York.
We picked up the Mike Lawler seat, taking out the
d Triple C chairman. We won my seat, taking out
a twenty six year Democratic seat. We had wins obviously

(30:37):
in the third congressional district, Mark Malinarrow won his seat.
You had Brandon Williams who won his seat. So these
are all New Yorkers who stuck to the issues and
won seats that were very democrat and we won them
because again, we stuck to the issues that mattered most
to the people.

Speaker 13 (30:57):
We stuck to the.

Speaker 14 (30:58):
Issues that when they went home at night, sat with
their family around the dinner table, we talked about the
issues that matter to them. And that's what we continue
to do. And they know that we are the Party
of common sense, we are the party that's fighting for them.
And similarly, when it comes to the issues with the
United Nations, we need to make sure that we have
strong Republicans in these seats because when we want to

(31:21):
fund these organizations that are spewing hate and flaming fanning
the flames of terrorism. We're going to need good solid Republicans,
and those Republicans are coming right from New York.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Kiles, we have a lot of Jews in the area
that you represent. Do you have any Jewish New York
thoughts you'd like to share with our audience?

Speaker 14 (31:40):
Just you know, I think that the year ahead, I
hope is better obviously than the last year. You know,
we came off the holidays last year with October seventh,
and it's been a trying year, whether it's losing hostages
or the war that continues to rage in the Middle East.

(32:01):
I truly hope that we can find some peace. We
can continue after we eliminate Hamas. We can build on
the work of Ambassador Friedman and the Abraham Accords. But
we're only going to do that with good solid Republicans
at the helm. I can assure you Kamala Harris, as

(32:21):
she showed us when Prime Minister net and Yahou came
to speak to a joint session of Congress, she didn't
even feel the need to show up.

Speaker 13 (32:28):
And she didn't show up because.

Speaker 14 (32:30):
She wanted to panderr again to the left of her party,
and we need to make sure that we send a
very strong message this election day, and early voting.

Speaker 13 (32:41):
Starts two weeks from yesterday.

Speaker 14 (32:43):
I encourage everyone, especially my friends in the Jewish community,
to get out, utilize early voting, past your ballot, and
make sure your friends and neighbors know how critically important
this election is. I said before I grew up in
this business. Every year around this time we hear about
this is the most important election of our lifetime. Well,

(33:04):
this is the most important election of our lifetime. The
future of the United States of America is at stake,
and certainly the future of the State of Israel, and
our relationship between the United States and Israel is certainly
at state.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Well, my Congressman, the Anthony Wesito, thank you for joining
us continuous success. Thank you for your strong support for
Israel to fight anti Semitism. Look forward to have you
again very very soon. Thank you for your leadership. Look
forward I guess set to speak with you again.

Speaker 13 (33:32):
Thank you, Jev. Thank you for continuing to carrying the
good word.

Speaker 14 (33:35):
And I look forward to a big victory and the
honor to continue to represent not only the Jewish people,
but all of the fourth Congressional District.

Welcome back to the program. I'm Zev Brenner with us

know what to drink for any time during the year,
especially holiday time, he is to go to guys. So
Shanato Vaga martove, welcome.

Speaker 11 (39:36):
Back, v thank you for having me.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
How is your Russia, Shana?

Speaker 11 (39:41):
Nice?

Speaker 3 (39:42):
So tell me you had different wines that we discussed
before the holiday. What was the favorite of you and
your guests?

Speaker 11 (39:48):
Oh? Wow, well there was one nice surprise, so to speak,
was the VI caryll One so Fitkin is a fantastic
Bulik winery in Israel, really one of the very best ones.
A Saspasses the winemaker and appropriator and I really mix

(40:12):
special wine and I was I was particularly impressed with
that carino because Israeli wines usually are quite approachable, ready
to drink on the go. And for you know, people
who like me enjoy collecting wine and aging wine. Finding

(40:32):
those gems that can age for many years is always
something fun and enjoyable. And that that wine was really
something special, something that can that can be put away
for ten to fifteen years. And I'm uh, as much
as I enjoyed the visting Carrion Russia, Shana, I'm looking

(40:55):
forward to enjoy it. Perhaps perhaps Russia's ten years from now?

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Well, which is right? Now, let me ask you this question,
if you want to use it in ten years from now,
what's the best way to keep it?

Speaker 11 (41:09):
What's the best way to keep it? So, first of all,
there are three things that are essential. One is light.
You need you need to keep the wine in a
dark place, away from any lights and natural or not.
That's the number one. Number two is temperature. It needs
to be in a constant temperature that is relatively low,

(41:36):
ideally somewhere between fifty and sixty degrees farnheyed. But you know,
even sixty five degrees is not is not so bad
as long as that temperature is constant. And if it
goes up to seventy five eighty degrees in the summer
or more, that's not good. So those are those are
like the basics, and then you can go into match

(42:00):
more much more fancy features when building a wine cellar
with not only temperature control, the humidity control and and
all sorts of things like that. But those are the basics.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Is a wine cell the idea or is it one
of those refrigerators that you can store wine?

Speaker 11 (42:19):
Well, it could be. It could be either it could
be either a scenar is arguably a bit better, but
having a wine cooler works out well.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
So now you people want to know what they're going
to drink right now. They don't want to wait ten years.
So what do you recommend for the upcoming Circus holiday?
And simple stories? A lot of days, a lot of
choices that people can make. So what do you recommend?

Speaker 11 (42:45):
What do I recommend? So there's one type of wine
I know you also enjoy v sparking wine. Oh yes,
And what I like about sparking wines is that they
are easy to go with any almost any type of food.

Speaker 8 (43:00):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (43:00):
And uh, there's a there's a Champagne, you know, from
the Champagne region in France, from the rough sheets. I
mean it's the rough shop. Something rose really high in wine.
It's pretty expensive, it is, but you know it's mt
of it's not the umpt of uh, you know, every
day or every week. And uh, if if you can

(43:21):
afford it, it's it's a special wine to have for
the holiday that can be enjoyed by all. And uh,
if it's if it's going to be a little warm
in the suka, which is possible. We've had a pretty
mild uh Rossana. Uh, it's going to be refreshing, and
even if we know the refreshing part is the almost
important aspect of it for you. Uh, it's going to

(43:43):
be a crowd freezer and something special. Uh that will
that will enhance the mill tremendously.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
That's a great choice. And what are some of the
other wines would you recommend?

Speaker 11 (43:54):
We've had some great uh, great wines coming out of
California as well in in in Tears, especially the herzog
Napa Valley, which is well known, too old, it's been
around for a long time, but I think that the
current Vint's twenty twenty one that's in stores right now
is perhaps the best ever and really highly recommended. The

(44:18):
santastic wine absolutely amazing and will really make the yums
of table even more special.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
I think a lot of people are going to pay
attention because unfortunately a lot of people can't go to Israel,
and I heard people not even going to Florida because
of the weather conditions. A lot more people be staying home,
which means they're going to want to try some different
varieties of wine.

Speaker 11 (44:40):
That's right, That's right, And I would also recommend everyone
to perhaps put an emphasis on drinking some Moory's ready wines.
They needs in any way, in any way possible, And
I really recommend you know to find great ones from Caramel,

(45:01):
from Castel, from Tabol Winery, Viskin which I mentioned earlier,
Hilo Tegot and so many more are fantastic. Really uh really,
it's it's going to make the meal special. Bull from
you know, the taste perspective, but also from the spiritual

(45:22):
perspective and h from the emotional perspective as well.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
Am I corrected that I saw Carmel has a pineapple
sparkly wine.

Speaker 11 (45:33):
Yes, so Camel has a line called Boss which is
the moscato wines that are fruit flavored.

Speaker 8 (45:40):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (45:40):
And they have all different kinds of flavor. There is
kind of bull correct, there's polygranite, there is green apple, peach, mango.
They're delicious, they're fun to drink, you know, asmaturities either
with dessert or just throughout the meal or without food.
You know their front, they are inexpensive and and really

(46:04):
a great option to enjoy both on both on Sukas
and SIMS.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Store and also from Israel. So it's great on all fronts,
Gave Gell, director of public Relations manager of Wine Education
for Kedim Royal Wines, thank you for being with us, Lochaim.
We should have a good year, a healthier prosperous year,
and we're looking forward to hearing and seeing and tasting
a lot more products. There's always something new coming up

(46:29):
from Kedam.

Speaker 11 (46:30):
And then and then that duel the great jumps and
really wishing uh, wishing peace and prosperity to all, for
our people and to everyone in Israel.
