(00:00):
Hello and welcome Milwaukee Admirals Center Icewith Mike wil Jahowski, I'm aar and
Sims. So the Admirals have wonnineteen straight, had one nineteen straight.
Now the fortunes have reversed a littlebit. They've got the target on their
back. Teams are flying and theAdmirals and now I've lost three straight for
the first time this season. WillJoe, Yeah, they, I mean
they've had their target on their backfor what the last three for a while.

(00:20):
But yeah, and you know,we overcame a lot of a lot
of things. But you know whatwe were in everything. You know,
we've been in every game. It'snot like it's been you know, we've
been getting getting beat down. It'sbeen you know, some some pretty decent
efforts. Yeah, nineteen and threein the in the calendar, you're twenty
twenty four. I don't know anybodywho wouldn't take nineteen and three right,
I certainly will no exactly right hereto talk about that and much more.

(00:43):
Admiral's assistant coach got Ford Foordah, what's the mood like here now? The
last week after nineteen straight wins andthen it snaps in grand rapids, in
a pretty good game and then thelast couple here in Milwaukee. Yeah,
I think we're I mean, it'sobviously frustrating. You know, we've got
a standard of play that is prettyhigh for a while, so to to

(01:08):
lose a couple like that, especiallyat home. You know, we've been
going pretty well and you know, just some unfortunate bounces and you know,
just a couple of those games, you know, down that stretch there where
we're finding ways to score later towin an overtime or you know, looks
like we're kind of scratching clad backto get to get at least one point

(01:30):
and then want in a shootout orovertime. You know, we just weren't
able to capitalize. So you know, we're in a we're in a good
spot obviously. You know, there'ssome things that we've got to work on
again and you know kind of,uh, get back to our standard of
play that was at first off.You know, I was talking with Kevin

(01:53):
Gravell about the nineteen game winning streakand I had said, and then I
quickly followed up with maybe that's probablyan unfair statement, but I said,
you know, when you have anineteen game winning streak, some warts are
covered up. But that being said, you guys were able through that stretch.
It's not like it was easy likeyou guys, like you said,
you had to come back and tiethings up. You had to get a

(02:15):
late goal here and there. Likethere, there were a lot of you
don't need to lose a game foradversity to happen inside a game. The
changes you made throughout those games,we were great. They all worked,
Yeah, for sure, I meanit's part of it. And yeah,
like you said, for some youknow things that obviously we need to work

(02:38):
on in our game, and theywere covered up a little bit at times
obviously with timely goal scoring or youknow, great goaltending, good you know,
fortunate things, and that's how youget on a streak like that.
So the guys, the guys workethic has been good, you know,
are willing to willingness to compete. Is there just you know, just kind

(02:58):
to tidy up a few things.I don't think our puck management has been
as good as as it's been, you know, and that and that comes
with some success, you know, you start feeling good about yourself and and
maybe some of those you know playsat each blue line or or things like
that, you get away with someof the puck puck plays, some of
the turnovers and things like that.I just, you know, it seems

(03:20):
like the last couple of games it'skind of went the other way on us,
and you know, we haven't beenable to establish as much of his
own time and a couple of themistakes we've made have ended up in the
back of our nets. So it'sit's definitely frustrating. Obviously, we need
to get back on track, youknow here in a hurry and and get
back to some winning ways. Butour guys are have been you know,

(03:43):
pretty resilient all year and have responded. So it's a it's a good kind
of wake up call, you know, there's not what is it's you're only
failing if you if you don't learnfrom your mistakes and of your failure.
Right, So it's we've got acouple of days here, but you know,
before next one and we'll we'll getback to uh, get back to

(04:03):
the drawing board a little bit.I mean, we're not we understand the
way we have to play to besuccessful, and we've gotten away from that
just a little bit, and we'lluh, you know, hit the ground
running hopefully here on on Wednesday.I believe every time you look at the
schedule, well, uh, theteam that's coming and playing us next is

(04:24):
either unbeating their last two or threeor or whatever it is. See,
we get a we get a Manitobateam as one three straight coming in here
and and they're all they always playus tough. No, for sure,
We've got a good rivalry against themfor the last few years, obviously the
playoff rounds and and things like that. I feel like we've played a ton
of games against that team. Wemoll have them prepared, and you know

(04:46):
they're their coach. They they playa very hard style games. You know,
they play physical, they go tothe net, they funnel tucks,
and they make it tough on opponents. And you know they've they've started to
play well obviously, you know theirparent clubs has played well and and and
sometimes you know that trickles down throughthe organization. You get excited, you

(05:09):
know about how everyone's playing, andthere's a little bit of change over players
going up and down, and andthere's excitement. I think they've done that
in Winnipeg and and with the Mooseas well. You know, and you
see it with with our club aswell. Nashville's had a great run of
games here as well, I thinkeight in a row for them, So
hopefully, you know, we've aidedin that a little bit, and and

(05:33):
we see that with the Manitoba aswell. So we're you know, we're
not hitting the panic button by anymeans, but like I said before,
we you know, like to getback on track here as soon as possible.
Admiral's assistant coach Scott Ford joining us. It's Milwaukee Admirals Center ice.
We talked so much about dog daysand a wall that you have to overcome

(05:54):
and all of that, and I'mcurious your thoughts. Is it possible that
a wall has shifted a little bitand the fact that when you do win
nineteen straight you can kind of powerthrough a lot of things. Or is
the wall the wall, It doesn'tmove, it stays there. And this
is just just three games that arein aberration. Yeah, I mean,

(06:15):
hopefully it is only three games.I mean, it's definitely it gets It
gets to be a grind a littlebit throughout the season, especially this time
of year, but you know,it's getting the playoff push times a lot
of these teams are are scratching inclined. We've give ourselves a lot of separation
because of you know, our team'ssuccess and you know the work the guys

(06:38):
have put in. So we we've, like I said before, we set
a standard of play and it's hard. It's hard to maintain, you know,
that that level every single night, every single day. And we've done
a good job bouncing back and beingresilient when we've when we've had struggles prior.
So we're just kind of looking forwardto to play the next game and

(07:00):
kind of get back to that getback to that kind of compete level and
and just that maturity in our gamewhere I mean we haven't I guess scored
a lot of goals the last fewgames, and we're gonna have to get
back to just getting pucks to thenet, you know, getting bodies there
and competing hard. And I thinkthat's kind of most teams at this time

(07:23):
of year. I mean, itkind of becomes cliche a but that's that's
how it gets done. There's there'snot a free night anymore. So it's
uh, it's gonna be a goodtest, you know. It's uh,
uh, our teams, you know, makeup is is from our back end
out. Our goaltending has been good, our defense has been pretty solid.
There hasn't been a ton of movementwith with that core, and you know

(07:46):
that some of our move movement upfront and players coming in and out do
the injury or call up, etcetera. You know, guys have kind
of got to push through a littlebit here at this point of the season.
What you had said about though, the the hard aspects and playoff push
and all of that stuff. Thisthis is the time to start getting to
the net and all of that, right, like that playoff goals, those

(08:09):
are going to be the playoff goals. The teams are going to defend that
much harder, The teams are goingto be that much stronger. You guys
certainly have shown that last season inthe stretch you had. You got to
get to the net. You gotto figure out some way to get in
that goalies kitchen. Yeah, forsure. It's uh and that's kind of
a will skill, right It's yeah, anybody anybody can you know, go

(08:30):
out there and stay on the perimeterand you know, make tic tac toe
plays and stuff. But it's kindof that grind game where we're trying to
get back to where recycling tucks,we're getting pucks deep on the fore chack,
even if it doesn't materialize, it'sthat constant, you know, getting
it behind the d grinding down low, putting pressure on them to make clean

(08:50):
breakouts and things like that. Sokind of the puck play and the turnovers,
and then you know late in theneutral zone or you know, late
laden shifts where you basically giving youknow, free breakouts to the to the
opponent's team because you've tired, you'retired from defending, or you've but you
know, made you know, poordecisions at the puck and turned it over
and then it's attracted me back intoour zone. That's just not a recipe

(09:13):
for success. That's especially for ourteam. And then kind of once we
get down there and we hold ontosome pucks and and kind of get cycles
going and utilize our our skating,of our defense and our mobility back there,
you know, we can we canstart to extend some motile zone time
and get more pucks and bodies tothe net. So that that's kind of

(09:35):
one of the main things I thinkwe've been kind of preaching and trying to
get our guys to do on aconsistent basis, and it obviously worked for
a while, and now we've raninto a little bit of a wall.
And you know, that's what that'swhat happens. It's it's a fine line,
and right now we've kind of beenon the on the back end of
it. So try to get backto back to playing our style and and

(09:58):
get back to that that hard standardof play. I know, you got
to get past Manitoba first, butyou've got that one on Saturday against the
team that broke your nineteen game winningstreak. And they're playing really well.
They haven't lost some regulation and Ilost count, what is it nineteen or
so? Yeah, they're at eighteenthirteen oh three and two. Yeah,
and you know what, any extramotivation are you guys looking at that one

(10:20):
a little bit more special? Areyou just playing them as they come?
I think right now, after afterthree in a row, I think just
whoever is the next man up,is who we're looking towards. I mean,
we're we've been good at not looking, you know, pass our opponent,
you know, throughout the year andjust kind of taking it one at
a time. I mean, andwe've been we've had some road trips where

(10:43):
we've had some some success that Ithought the Henderson trip was great, you
know, getting a couple of shoutoutsthere and you know, getting some some
good scoring. And then we've hadtimes where we've found ways to win to
one or two nothing things like that. So it's where we know it's going
to be a heavy style game andManitoba's scratch and incline, and so I

(11:05):
think that just looking to that initiallyis what we're kind of going for.
I mean, we we had alot of great things happened within those nineteen
games, just personal success, guysdoing you know, things above and beyond,
and maybe, like you said,it's I don't think you hit a

(11:26):
wall. I just think you geta little maybe complacent, or you get
a little bit uh maybe too toobig for your bridges a little bit,
and then when you get into atough match, you're against a top opponent
that checks extremely hard. We justhaven't found a way to fight, fight
through that and and allow our skillto take over it. We have,

(11:48):
we have some we have some talentedplayers, and but talent only goes as
hard as your work. Epic doesas well. So if you. You
can't if you don't have one withoutthe other kind of thing. Admiral's assistant
coach Scott Ford joining us. It'sMilwaukee Admirals Center IA. And that's that's
the strange thing about when you getinto the stretch that you're on now with

(12:09):
three straight losses, like you hadfound a way to win and the will
was there and all of that stuff, and I mean I psycho and certainly
there's you're not in a vacuum rightlike there is another team that's trying to
win when you're playing these games. So it's not it's not as easy as
just saying, oh, bear downand get after it. But but that
that's the thing that made that nineteengame thing so special, and I think

(12:31):
that experience is so special for theplayers and for coaches too, is that
you found out that you have ateam that when push comes to shove,
you can figure it out, youcan get it done. Yeah. No,
for sure, we're definitely finding ways. Whether you know, we had
to play a physical style game ora kind of a run and gun no
hitter or what have you, wouldwe were able to have success playing you

(12:54):
know, a variety of different ways. And I think, you know,
sometimes when that occurs, you cankind of get away from, you know,
some of the small details and theintricacies of the game because you're you're
getting away with it either with youknow, stellar goaltending or you know,
maybe we score four or five goals. But I think we just have to,
you know, simplify it a littlebit, realize that within our team

(13:18):
that we have to have a standardof compete and a standard of work and
stuff to be successful and allow allowour skill level to come out just little
little plays, little fifty to fiftywins on the wall, you know,
getting inside opponents underneath, going tothe hard areas. You know, player
players are are going to be nasty. They see the speed and skill of

(13:41):
some of our players and they're goingto play them hard. I mean,
we're not We're not a secret anymore, right Like there's a target on you.
Everybody has video too. Everybody prepares, they understand what, you know
what some of the successes other teamshave had against us of late, and
there's definitely a recipe for that success, and we got to find a way

(14:03):
to get backed out working. Ouropponent has a target on our back.
Over the last month or since thesins the new year, is that that's
been a good thing, because Ithink it kind of hastes all at least
I think it hastens the development ofthe guys that we've had. I think
they were playing so many meaningful games. It's you know, I think,
do you think that's helping their development? No, for sure. I think

(14:26):
the best development is winning, right, It's the have a locker Yeah,
the energy in the locker room, the habits that are formed with with success
and and learning to play with thelead, learning to win a variety of
different ways. Just you see thegrowth of the group and how much they

(14:46):
care about one another and how excitedthey get when guys blocking shots, when
guys make a physical play in orderto get a puck deep or to get
a puck out. And you've seen, you know, growth and excitement and
in a lot of those areas, and we reward that, right. You
try to show, show and highlightsome key plays. And it's not always

(15:11):
an end and rush or a beautifulgoal that it is magnified by our group.
It's the guy that you know blocksthree or four shots on the flank,
on the on the penalty kill orsomebody that is grinded and maybe he's
on the back end of the ofthe play, but he's the guy that
got in as F one on thefore check and disrupt a play and he

(15:33):
might not get the secondary assists, but those plays are highlighted because of it's
a chain reaction, you know, guys that continue to move their feet on
the backcheck and break up a playlate, you know, if a defenseman
gets beat or you know, otherteams you know have highly skilled players too,
a goaltender makes a miraculous save tokeep us going. So there's a

(15:54):
lot of things that occur in agame, and we try to magnify highlight
some of those hard area plays thatkind of get unnoticed. So I think
our group is gets excited when theyget to see some of those things,
and we try to try to rewardthat, whether it be you know,

(16:15):
on film the next day or maybesome more opportunity with ice time and things
like that. And it's been agood recipe and like you said, we
run into a little bump in theroad here, but hopefully we can use
it as a learning tool. Admiral'sassistant coach Scott Ford joining us the NHL
trade deadline is later this week Friday. You when you were a player,

(16:36):
was it a big deal in thelocker room? And I'm curious if you
sense that now as a coach withyour players, if it's a big deal,
if it's a stressful time, oris it. I mean, you're
coaching in this league. You haveto roll with the punch, is right.
We all know that things are soout of the coach's control. Whoever's
here is who's going to play. But I'm just curious what it was like
when you were playing and what it'slike what you observe now in that room.

(17:00):
I think as a player, Imean, there's only probably a handful
of guys or two or three guysthat on the minor league team that are
going to be traded or you know, might be a throw in somewhere.
It's more it's more kind of whatour parent club does and what direction they're
going, whether they're in a playoffsituation or they're looking to rebuild or vice

(17:23):
versa, and and we'll see whathappens. I mean, it is really
out of our control. You know. Our our job here is to is
to develop and to get our playersprepared to play in Nashville. I mean
the winning is an added bonus, and I think the winning really enhances our
really enhances the development of our guys. So you've seen multiple players go up

(17:48):
over the last few years that arenow in roles that are that are aiding
in their success. So that that'sthat's basically our role. And you know,
we can't can't dwell on what occursas a player. You think about
it a little bit and you wonder, you know, as a as a
maybe a captain or as an olderguy, how moves are going to affect

(18:11):
the locker room, affect your team'syou know overall, you know, level
of play. You know, ifyou move you know key guys that have
had success and other teams value themas well, right, so they you
worry about that a little bit.But you know, we we try to
build a foundation from the start ofthe year and a standard of play and

(18:33):
how we will like to do things. And we hope that it doesn't matter
what players are interchange within our lockerroom, that we have a good core
group that is able to you know, bring them in and and continue to
to move all the kind of inthe right direction. So it is out
of our hands, But you dothink about it, you know, as
a staff, I think you probablythink about it more on this end of

(18:55):
it, trying to, you know, see who your lineup is going to
be each each and every night, seeing what changes are going to be made,
what you know what you have asfar as personnel, And it's probably
you think about it more on thisside now than you did when you're in
the locker room, because the dayto day kind of doesn't change. You
get up, you come to therink, you prepare, and you try
to, you know, do yourbest as an athlete to succeed and to

(19:21):
win. So on our side,it's it's probably a little bit more stressful
and a little bit you get alittle bit more wonderment of what's going to
occur. But at the same time, it's it's hockey, right. What
guys are, what guys come in, what guys go. We hopefully we've
built a foundation that people can comein and have a seamless transition and hopefully

(19:41):
help with our success. We needto take a break, but I think
you guys showed very well last seasonthat you're able to adapt with with several
several new players showing up at adeadline here. So yeah, we've we've
seen the success that comes from it. Florida. Thanks so much for the
time. We really appreciate it.We'll see you at the rink. You
have no problem, guys. Thankyou. Admiral's assistant coach Scott Ford.

(20:03):
Yeah, they played last season. You think of Austin rush Off and Anthony
Angelo coming in Amy, there wasa lot of players obviously they came in.
Is Bradcliffe oh type teller coming upfrom the coast. Yeah, I
incredible. A lot of guys cameup. That was just I had never
seen anything like that. That wasincredible. I need to literally have eleven
guys show up after the Nationals filegame. All right, here we are,
snap question, snap question, thenten seconds before we take a break.

(20:27):
You think you see the same thingthis year with the way Nashville is
going. Yes, you think,I just you know what wholesale in Scooteright
trust baby. Yep. You knowin one of those routines, there's nobody
that's got his finger on the pulseof the rosters in the American Hockey League
and what he needs to do toYou know, it's funny because I saw
him the other way when you talkto him for more than a few minutes,
it's it's literally the return. Weneed a little time, we need

(20:48):
a little toughness. You know,we lost so and so we're gonna bring
in some toughness. Boom toughness. We need this and he just he he
really gets it, you know. And then he does and it's uh,
it's in uh he the conversations, and to watch him work the room at
the All Star Game and yeah, you know, it's just talking to everybody.
He just just gets his figure onthe pull. So who you got,
what you got, what's going on? You know. And in a

(21:10):
lot of times they're not talking players, they're just talking philosophies and just or
where are you going for dinner? But at the end of the day,
he builds the relationships and he makesit all happen exactly right. We need
to take a break back in themoment. You're listening to Milwaukee Admiral Center
Ice. Welcome back Milwaukee Admiral CenterIce with Michael Jahowski. I'm Aaron Sims.
The Admirals have two more Fair toOld Fridays. We get a ticket
to an Admirals game and the WisconsinState Fair for just twenty two dollars.

(21:33):
The next one coming up on Marchtwenty ninth. They who doesn't love both
of those things? You know what? Right, you know, we're one
hundred and forty nine days away, but who's counting? And yeah, yeah,
you know, and you know what, and they really make it easy.
They really make it easy because youwon. Their website it tells you
hours, minute, second, seconds, everything. Yeah, it's it's unbelievable

(21:53):
everything. Sherry Black is running everythingout there at this at Wisconsin State Fair,
Parts CEO executive director, Sherry joinsus. Now, Hi, Sherry,
how are you? I am doinggreat? How are you guys?
We're great? And you have wetalk about the fair and Wojo saying one
hundred and forty nine days away Andpeople might think, oh, that's a

(22:14):
lot of time, but like Wiljoalways get to asked the question, what
do you guys do in the summerand we'll Jo's like, that's when we
make everything happen. Yes, isthat a full time job? You got
it? By the way, Yeah. Yeah. Sherry felt that she had
a lot of free time, sothey decided to bring back racing. Yes,
we got the twin two fifties comingup, they're selling cream puffs.
They got some ticket deals going on. There's a lot of stuff going which

(22:37):
one whe would you like to start? Oh my gosh. Well, and
you can't leave out that the Expois in its busy show season right now.
We've got events going there every weekend. That it's incredible. Yeah,
I don't people always say what doyou do in the winter? Which I
always joke. We're gonna get tshirts made that say what do you do
in the winter on the front andon the back list all the things we
do exactly right. Yeah, butyou know, we are constantly busy,

(23:03):
so got to keep up and keepcoming up with new ideas and different things.
And that's why we have these crazynew cream plus flavors. I mean
those aren't crazy cream puff flavors.I mean those are pretty tasty, Aaron,
I mean, are you a creampuffguy? I am? Okay,
Irish cream and mint chocolate okay,uh huh yep. And I understanding you
can save money if you order bythe tenth? Is that what you can

(23:26):
do here? Yes? So youjust go to Wistatefair dot com and we
have everything on there. It's verysimple. Save a few bucks if you
order ahead of time. So whenis all of this happening here? We're
talking about ordering, but when whatis the deadline? When do you pick
up? What is what is goingon here? Why? Why are we
doing cream puffs? So prices aregoing to increase on Sunday, March tenth,

(23:47):
so you want to order them beforethen, and then you come to
the drive through the fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth to pick up your cream
puffs. So these are for SaintPatrick's Day that you've got going on here,
because take him to your favorite partyand hang out. You know,
you know all the necessities. Yougot the half barrel. Yeah, you
got the cabbage, and you gotthe cream puffs. Yep, that sounds

(24:08):
perfect, sounds great, one percentperfect. Hey, I'm curious. We
had a racing night here a monthand a half ago maybe, and and
a young man driving an Indy carand you've got Indy car coming back this
year out to the track, andI'm just curious how that all, how

(24:30):
that all came about? Because youguys got a big weekend there and it's
it's an important important race for thefor that league. It is we are
so fortunate to be working with inthe car. It's really Roger Penske.
He just absolutely loves the historic MilwaukeeMile. He's had a lot of races
there and he wanted to see itcome back. So once we kind of

(24:52):
started looking at some things and makingimprovements, he came in to check out
what we were doing and thought itwas all going very well and was very
positive and believed in us and wantedto join in twenty twenty four. So
now he gave us two races, which is really exciting. Originally we were
just talking about the Saturday or I'msorry, the Sunday race, and then

(25:15):
he said, hey, what doyou think about doing a Saturday evening race,
which of course I'm like, wedon't have lights, and he's like,
no, we'll be done by seven. So we're planning for a fun
evening. Not though we want tohave the race, we'll have music afterwards.
So we hope people come for therace and stay for some fun that
night at the fair parkies right, yes, yes, outstanding, And people

(25:38):
can go online. Can they buytickets? Can they buy I think I
saw weekend passes. I think Isaw Saturday pass I think I saw Sunday
passes. Is this something people cango on and get now they can,
But then also Friday during the timingwill have different activations going on throughout the
park that Friday as well, Sowe're hoping people join us Friday, Saturday

(26:00):
and Sunday. You'd mentioned the ExpoCentertoo, being things going on every weekend,
and you mentioned the website wistatefair dotcom. People can find home shows,
whatever it might be, all comingup here. Yes, everything is
listed on our website. There's somuch. I know. The Sports Show

(26:21):
is coming up March seventh through thetenth. That's always a good one.
We have the Home and Garden Showwhich is after that March twenty second to
the thirtieth. That's one of myfavorites because it smells amazing. They bring
in so many flowers, and youjust it's fun because you can go around
the have all these different like patiossetup all throughout that you can take a

(26:42):
look at and get ideas. Becausesummer is coming, I know we're getting
a little taste of the warmer weathernow, although I keep saying we're probably
still going to get a foot ofsnow at some point here before it really
happens. But you know, summersin Wisconsin are the best. You got
to have a patio to sit on. Yes, yes, you got thirteen
dollars fare tickets online to grab those. You got five dollars bargain books.

(27:03):
It just looks like you guys gota lot of things going on out there,
and it's it's just a real goodbargain, I mean, fair deal.
Friday's twenty two dollars, so sothen that's probably the best you're gonna
do. But thirteen dollars fare ticketsis still pretty nice. It is.
So if you plan ahead early, you can really get some great savings early.

(27:25):
Okay, then you know what, that's not my strong suit, but
it's okay, We're good. That'swhy we're talking about this right now exactly.
And your head to do it thatway. You can save money on
cream puffs, you can save moneyon tickets, so you can get yourself
all set up for indie IndyCar racingweekend, Labor Day weekend. It just
sounds like a lot of fun tome. Yeah, absolutely it is.
And you have it all in there. You've got the fare and then we

(27:47):
get one weekend break and then NASCARand then IndyCars, so we are going
to be busy. Oll And Wojosaid one hundred and forty nine days until
the fair, so that the mathadding up there, Wiljo, less than
five months. It's right, andyou've got some big acts named already for
this for the main stage. Therewe do, and they just keep coming.

(28:07):
We still have to announce three more, but we just recently announced Young
Gravy, Uh Gabriel, Gabriel,Fluffy Iglesias. We have Foreigner, Lauren
Daegel. Riley Green is another bigone that we announced, So we are
getting ready. I'm excited about acouple other ones that were going to be

(28:30):
announcing probably next month as well.So I tell you what. With Foreigner,
we've had them a couple of times. Ad rolls games phenomenal and this
I believe is their farewell to it. It is so with Melis, so
this could very well be your onlylast last chance to see in his band.
And oddly enough, the last timethey played they played the Fair,

(28:52):
they had they get they went on, but they had a shortened show because
of the because of a thunderstorm, and they went on a little late.
But they they gotta they gotta youknow they played the hits. Put it
that way. Yeah, but againan exceptional, great night, great night
to watch them. Well, andit's you know, all those iconic bands
are doing a lot of farewell toursright now, so if they're near you,

(29:14):
you definitely have to take advantage becauseyou just don't know if you're gonna
be have no idea anything else.Well, is there anything we're missing here?
What's what? What is the mostpertinent? I guess we got the
fair deal Friday with the admirals andand maybe the cream puffs like you said,
that's it. Yeah, I thinka pretty pertinent all right, w
y w I Statefair dot com iswhere to go and all the information and

(29:37):
while you're watching, while you're watchingthat the IndyCar Race next weekend, just
just hop right online and and andand buy your tickets for IndyCar weekend here.
Yeah, that's the key. Lessthan six months to let Jerry,
that's so, that's the way todo it. That is absolutely the way
to do it. I'll actually bedown there because we have to go learn.
Oh excellent, well enjoy. Yeah, yeah, it's it's great.
It's it's kind of put me inthe fair mood. And you know that

(30:00):
goes. Yes, I know we'regonna blink and it will be here.
Yeah, exactly what August first tothe eleventh be there? You always do.
By the way, do you havethat like I have it? I'm
sure Wojo does too. It's likea it's been a lot, this summer's
been long, or the winter's beenlong, and then all of a sudden,
you're a week out and it's like, holy smokes, it's here already.
Yes, winter has gone really fastas well. I find it shocking

(30:26):
that we're already in March. Iagree with that. I I don't want
to jinx myself, but I justgosh, wouldn't it be great to have
an early spring? Yeah, Iknow that probably won't happen, but it
would be really nice. Well Ihave I have a wood table in front
of me that I'm knocking on.So yeah, let's let's hope that that's
the case here. It would beIt would be nice. Sherry, Thank
you so much for the time.Again, wiscon at wistatefair dot com to

(30:49):
find out all the info. Sherry, thanks so much. All right,
thank you guys so much. Havea great day. Sherry Black from the

Cream Puffs to get those orders inthe fair. Deal Friday again, March
twenty ninth is the next one withthe Admirals lots to do, go to

(31:10):
the Wi State fairshis absolutely, we'regoing to take a break. Alex Doherty
from the tennesseean Yes, hired atthe Tennessee. How about this Doherty,
He's going to join us next. You're listening to Milwaukee Admiral Center ICE.
Welcome back to Milwaukee Admiral Center ICEwith Mike wil Jahowski. I'm Aaron Simpsons.
Last we spoke to this guy justa few weeks ago. He has
a new job. Oh hell,he's now writing covering the Nashville Predators for

(31:32):
the Tennessee Down. That's rich,is fantastic. Congratulations to our next guest,
Alex Doherty. Alex, I'm thrilledfor you. Wooljos thrilled for you.
Congratulations on this. I'm just curiousnow if there's any difference for you
because you'd been doing such a goodjob otherwise, so I mean now,
is it is it easier? Isit harder? What's going on here?
More pressure, more deadlines? Well, you guys are too kind. I

(31:56):
really appreciate that. No, Iwould say it is definitely different than before.
There's a lot I'm doing what Idid before. But yes, I'm
doing a lot more of it,I guess is the big thing. Yeah,
deadlines are a new thing for me. But to be honest, I
like the pressure. I like tohave a little bit of a little bit
of pressure applies to make it makesme makes me think clearer, you know.

(32:17):
Yeah, No, I get it. You know we're here to make
things. Yeah, we're here tomake things even more more pressure for Yeah,
you know told us before we wenton the air that you got it
all figured out. You know exactlywhat Barry is gonna do this weekend for
the trade deadline. I'm kidding.I'm kidding exactly. Well, what what
do you they got to be in? Buy mode now? Right? At

(32:39):
least stand pat mode? I mean, well I would think by mode,
right, I mean, they seemto be pretty comfortable in this wild card
spot. The way they're playing, the eight game winning streak. You know,
it just seems things could not begoing better at a better time for
the Nashville Predators. It does feelthat way. You can feel the tides

(33:00):
start to turn towards that direction. It was about a week ago today that
Barry Trotz said he felt like hewas on both sides of the fence,
that he was fifty to fifty onbuying selling. And you know, a
lot this time of year, alot can happen in just a few days,
and so I mean, I can'timagine that he's selling now. I
mean, we already know Jucy Sorrowsis probably not going anywhere. They just

(33:21):
signed Tommy no Back a few hoursago, so he's not going anywhere.
There's still, you know, possibilityif someone like an Alex Carrier or a
Dante Fabreau or a Yaka of Trenninor something like that that's an expiring contract
that maybe they try to sell,But I can't see them doing that either
because Alex Carrier is they're probably theirbest penalty killing defenceman. I don't think

(33:43):
he'd want to get rid of thatat the deadline. Dante Fabreau is cost
controlled, He's an RFA, sothey can still sign him at a reasonable
salary and they really like Yaka ofTrenton. So I can't see any selling
on the board at this point, considering the big pieces are kind of either
staying or some and then yeah, you switch to buying. And I'll be
honest, I have not really beenlooking at the market very much for this

(34:07):
team because I've been so you know, most people have been so you know,
convinced that they were going to sell, right. I mean, there's
some names out there that are intriguing. I mean, like, I can't
imagine this happening, but if someonelike Vladimir Karasenko, Like what if you
just bought him on the cheap andthen thought, you know what, what's
the worst that could happen? He'dcome in and score a few goals.

(34:28):
I mean, there's people talking aboutJake Genseel. Maybe that happens. There's
I think it's got to be aforward, if anything, probably not a
defenseman. They got too many ofthose. But yeah, it definitely feels
like it's shifted towards buying for thisteam. You know what's funny, you
just mentioned they have too many defensemen. Five months ago, I think everybody's
panicking about the defenseman, and noweverybody's cool with it. Yeah, that's

(34:51):
true. I think I think theyare really comfortable with where the defense is
at right now, and especially consideringthey know they've got Spencer Sassine and Mark
el Guisa down there to to toplug in who I think that they really
are high on. So yeah, they figure out that some things that the
defense. I think that they oncethey once Roman Yosi really got going and

(35:12):
they kind of have returned to himbeing the clear and a way best defensian
on the team. And he's he'sjust rolling like he's never rolled before right
now. Just names the NHL NHLFirst Star of the Week right by the
way, by the way for talthree all three defenseman. Yeah, of
course everyone knows that it's like thenineties again, that's right. Yeah,

(35:37):
yeah, but I know, Ithink I think the defense is in a
pretty good place. I mean, helps him. You've got a good goalfender,
of course, but I think Ilike where the defense is at.
The overall the lineup together is justclicking. I mean, everything's clicking.
Andrew Burnette said today that he doesn'thave to worry about setting the lineup anymore.
It's pretty much said he just hecan kind of check that off his

(35:57):
list for now because he's he's donewith the same lineup for the last eight
games in a row, so that'snot going to change. So yeah,
again, another reason why they're probablynot selling. Why why could I break
it? It's not broken. Ithought the end of that Ottawa game when
they I thought they made a statementin a third period. I mean,
it was like, in my estimation, it was like Ottawa's was watching them
go through their drills and I meanthey literally no shots on goal, not

(36:22):
even a really good sniff of ashot. I mean, they basically imposed
their will on the Senators for thelast the whole, the whole third period
and put them away. You guys, maybe you guys can confirm this,
but I saw somewhere that it wasthe first time, maybe ever, that
the Autawa Senators had a period wherethey didn't have a shot on net.

(36:43):
I can't confirm that, but Isee that somewhere. Should I don't know
that, but I would buy that, right, Like, that's that's one
of those rare it's you know,it's a goalie goal type of thing.
It's so that's a rarity to notat least get one shot on net.
Yep. Yeah, yeah, prettywid Yeah, and the team didn't even
seem the predators, that is,didn't even seem they didn't even know that.

(37:04):
We told them in the locker roomafterwards, and they they were just
they were just focused on trying tofinish out the game and didn't realize that
had happened. But yeah, thatgame, And I mean, there's a
lot to be impressed with this teamright now. The last three games especially,
I think their third periods have justbeen outstanding. I mean, just
swarming in terms of their for check. They pulled away from a very very

(37:29):
good Colorado team in the third periodwhere they were kind of neck and neck
for a while. There is twoperiods of really good hockey and then just
pulled away from from one of thebest teams in the NHL. And yeah,
there's there's a lot clicking right now. I think the third period is
probably the best thing that's going rightnow because they just they seem to have

(37:50):
found another gear. And you know, one thing that Brunette said early early
in the season is when they weregoing through all these practices where they're where
they're they have a lot of justintense skating drills. There's a whole lot
of work just working on skating. Is He kept telling us that later in
the year, when you know, when the when the Predators, when his

(38:13):
team is able to outwork the otherteam in the third period, this will
pay off. And I wonder ifthat's what we're seeing now. Is it
just a matter of it took severalmonths to get to this pace where the
other teams are tired and you're notas tired as you were because of the
work that you put in earlier inthe season. Oh yeah, you think
about it, right, the wholecliche. And by the way, Alex

(38:34):
Doherty of the Tennessee and joining us, uh, marathon not a sprint.
Well, now you're at the pointwhere it's it is a sprint. And
yeah, I mean if you're ifyou're doing the work back, then this
is the time that it shows.Right. It's you know, you train
hard to be in the twelfth roundof a boxing match. You don't train,
you know, not necessarily the firstsecond round. You've got to be
there, and they got to havethe legs in the twelfth round. That's

(38:54):
right, yeah, exactly. Anduh, now they're getting contributions from from
everyone else. And I know youguys were probably thrilled to see a guy
like Cody Glass get his hat trick. I mean, I don't know how
much you were able to pay attentionto that. I can't remember if the
Admirals were playing at that point, but uh, that was that had to
be a highlight of the season foreveryone. I know it was a highlight

(39:15):
for him. And Uh, Iactually talked to him today. He said
he came close to a hat trickin Milwaukee, but he thinks his last
one was uh playing for Team Canadaagainst against Hungary. Maybe it's been a
while for Cody in other words, yeah, he's had well, it's been
well chronicled, right the I mean, he's had injury issues and and other

(39:36):
things going on. And you're right, like, if you can't cheer for
Cody Glass, there's something wrong withyour head. Exactly right, Yeah,
exactly, yeah, very very Yeah. He was today. I could tell
that he had had, you know, a long couple of days of thinking
about it and talking to people, but he still wanted to talk about it
because it was such a great momentfor him. Uh. And and in

(39:58):
particular, if you haven't watched it, the post game bench interview with Kara
hammer with Valley Sports where he issort of taking it in in the crowd
is just cheering his name. Yeah, I mean just I would try to
watch that and not have a heartbeat. It's just it's amazing. I've been
fascinated with Colton Sistans offensive outbreak thisyear a little bit. I mean,
he's really you know, he's alwaysbeen the complete player. I mean when

(40:20):
he was serious, a complete player. He's always been a complete player there.
But for you know, you know, he had a he had a
three point game during the streak.Yeah, Colton Systems continues to be just
an incredible value for this team, like all up and down. I mean,
I think there's no there's no questionhis his his value to the team
in terms of how much they payhim to do what he does is uh

(40:42):
second to none on the team. But yeah, his his offensive skill has
always been there. We've seen slashesof that over the years, and I
think it's just it's because he cango anywhere on the ice. There's not
a single inch on that ice thathe can't go and dominate. He can
he can play in the middle ofthe ice and see the passes and hold
off the hold off the attacker toget an extra attacker, or hold off

(41:05):
the defender to get an extra attackerin there. He can go into the
corner and win a puck. Hecan win face off in all zones.
He just does everything well. It'sit's such a it's such an unheralded thing
that in today's hockey of hockey worldof specialization and certain kinds of players that
can do one or two things exceptionally, but maybe the rest of their game
is not there golden systems. Isit breaks that mold definitively, Alex.

(41:30):
We only got like fifteen seconds here, so I apologize for this, but
I'm gonna put you on the spot. They win tomorrow night nine straight.
Do they swing for the fences atthe trade deadline? I think no.
I think they don't swing for thevinces. They buy something, but it's
not a huge, huge deal, but they get some sort of forward or
piece that they can add and itgives them a little bit more depth.

(41:51):
Very good, Alex Do already writesfor the Tennessee and covering the Nashville Predators.
