Speaker 3 (07:11):
Okay, so ready, I don't have a run seat today,
Let's play Steelers Eagles, Steelers.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Actually, before we get an Eagles Steelers, we're gonna get
in a match up on it.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I want to I want your take on why this
team is as successful as it is.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
I mean, you know, I think it's not.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Not not not not you know, the you know, not
the obvious, the the.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Ones that people the intangible.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Right so so last compared to a business all right,
last year, the Eagles lose six of the last seven
games out out of the playoffs in one round.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
What do you do?
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Do you rip it apart, do you bring it back
and just run it the same way, or do you
take your head coach, your CEO and make the situation
around him stronger. So the step, the first step was
to take the coaching staff and revamp it. And they've
done that, and I think that everybody would agree that
Vic Fangio is a great defensive coordinator. And he brought
(08:10):
with him a group of really talented position coaches, Bobby
Hurt or Bobby King, Clinton Hurt, Christian Watson, the kids
that some of the guys that they have that they've
been just so technically sound. When you see Zach Bond
delivering a great tackle, and Cooper de Gene tackling Derrick
(08:31):
Henry with perfect form. They're taught by their coaching staff
and so the Kellen Morons.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
And it's fun that you bring up tackling because that
had been an issue for a while.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yes, and so the first step for the Eagles was
to build around the CEO.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
And then you take the COO.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Who is Jalen Hurts, and you build around Jalen Hurts,
and you bring in a superstar in Saquon Barkley. And
like we've had a lot of good running We've had
a lot of really good running backs, and we've had
some backs that are bordering on great, we've never had
anything like Saquon Barkley, who has taking the offense in
a totally new direction. And so you start the season slowly,
(09:14):
then your young kids come on. Cooper replaces Avante Maddox,
the offense stops turning the ball over, the defense starts
to gel and what this team is is a.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Team that's built for the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
They don't turn the ball over, knock on wood, They
play really good defense, They do well in the red zone,
and that's the formula for winning games. Late in the
season and in the playoffs, and so there's a lot
to work on here. The passing game needs to be better,
we know that. But I love the way this team
is playing right now.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
All right.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
That has been a bit of a topic of screw
of course, And you know what, I want to go
to Trey here on.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
This one just to get his take.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I don't see the passing game has a problem. I
just see a passing game that's in the first year
in decades in this city that's taken second fiddle. The
running attack is the primary source of offense.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Tray, Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
I think that, well, the running game is the primary
SoC of this offense because the offensive line, I mean they,
you know, Coach Stoutland is one of the best in
the game, especially when you're talking about combination blocks and
like you say, you bring Sa Kwon Barkley and who
is a superstar in the backfield. You know, but there
are some throws that are missed out there at times.
But you know, to me, I feel like when you
(10:27):
have a team that can just attack the way they have,
if you could just keep everybody focused, who cares about
the personal stats?
Speaker 4 (10:33):
The end game is winning the rings I agree. I
think where they need to be better. They can't keep
having goose eggs in the first quarter of games. They
need to have generate some early offense, some consistent offense.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
They've left too many points on the board.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
They've got too many drives that have been stopped by
penalties or lack of execution. I think that's where they're searching,
and you know you don't want to get. For example, Baltimore,
the Eagles have three really bad drives to open the game.
They're down nine to nothing, and they're still in the game.
When it happened in Tampa, they were out of the game.
If it happens in a playoff game in Detroit, they've
(11:08):
got the kind of The Lions have the kind of
offense that can put twenty one up on you really
really fast if your offense isn't sustaining drives. And so
the Eagles need to get the offense going early.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
I'm gonna throw this to dis and and Sack. Won't
you both talking about this because it brings up an
excellent point that three bad drives, they are down nine nothing,
they're still in the game. This is a bend, but
don't break defense and it's a young defense, and I
want you guys to weigh in on that. I think
what happens when people get frustrated about the passing offense
is not necessary. Like you're saying, they can win games here,
(11:41):
but the expectations have been leveled up and this is
a championship quality level team. Now they might not win it,
but they certainly have the talent to be doing better
than they have been doing. You just can't have eighty
net passing yards if they won the game and everything, and.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
There's just opportunities there they can't wait. But sorry, up
and in and Sack weighing on this.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
The offense isn't turning the ball over anymore because it's
not throwing as much. Let's be honest, why why why
do we have to throw? I get it, you don't
have to throw. You have to be more efficient with
the passes going to Sack, all right? You know they're
throwing the ball less, hence less turnovers, and why not
when you can pick up just as many yards with Saquan.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yeah, but you got I'm sorry, No, it's okay.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
The thing is about, yes, we're turning the ball over
less because we're not putting the ball in the air,
and it's easy twenty five times a game to turn
around and just hand the ball off the Saquon. The
problem I agree with Dave on this when it comes
to the passing game, it's actually getting out to a
fast start and in a rhythm, because if you don't
get that in the first quarter, it's gonna bite you
later on in the game against these these uh we
(12:50):
were talking last week about Detroit can spot ten.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Since when did Detroit become a hotbed?
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Right?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I mean, like, yeah, they are a great team.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
They're struggling defensively right now because they're losing a lot
of players.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
You have to be prepared to go toe to toe
with that offense.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
You can do that all day long with Saquon, but
when a team is just as talentson' as you starts
to load up the box with an extra defender and
you're playing one on one, Jalen needs to be able
to hit and make them pay on the outside. With
guys like aj Brown Davante, the key is early on
in the game, getting them involved, in getting them in
gage because then we don't want them falling asleep as
(13:22):
we're getting into the second quarter into the second half.
We want them to be out there knowing that they're
gonna get the ball early and often, and they're gonna
be a big part of the game plan going forward. Dave,
talk about our two young defensive backs out of this
draft because one of the topics that Katin and I
talked about on the road a couple of weeks ago.
(13:44):
There's been hit and misses with the draft room for
a lot of years, but man, the last three drafts
you're talking about pretty much five. You're talking about close
to eighteen or twenty players out of these drafts, whether
drafted or undrafted, that are making significant, significant contributions.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
To this Yeah, no, no doubt. Great job from Howie.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Also, it's really interesting, like if you look around the league,
a lot of young players are contributing that extra The
COVID year really helped college players grow up and get
an extra year playing time and they come into the
league has more developed men.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
But it it does.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
It takes an elite athlete and an elite kid, though
to walk in into a man's world into the NFL
from college, regardless of what program you're coming.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
From, especially Toledo.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Toledo right when they literally shut down every receiver that
has gone up again.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
I mean it's really remarkable. I you don't even nobody
even talks about Quinnyon because.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Nobody Nobby Taylor syndrome. Nobody throws at him. No, he doesn't.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
He doesn't have any action. It's like I've never seen
anything like it.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
And he's not gonna He's not gonna. Ye, he's not
gonna have any either, said since because nobody's follow the ball.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
And then Cooper is just like by the way, just
like a fun We're waiting. The Eagles are like dying
waiting to get the Cooper de Jen jerseys in the
pro shop.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
We hope to get him in this week because.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
We know that the Cooper de Jen jersey won't probably
get to the level of Jalen or Saquon, but a
white cornerback in Philly who's doing it like he's doing
it will be a hot jersey.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
And you know, I heard a lot a lot of
Grandma's big he's a cutie guy.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
It's like it's fifteen years old.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Yeah, but anyway, so he I think Quinon's the first
Eagles cornerback to start on day one since Eric Allen.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Like that's amazing nineteen eighty eighth.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
It's very difficult to do. I love the way they've
been coached. I think vic as As. All we heard
about vic when he got hired was how the young
players in Miami he didn't relate to them. He was
old school, the game had passed him by. He's certainly
shown that is not the case. And he's put together
a great defense. This is a legit number one defense
(16:04):
in the NFL. And I'll tell you they're just they
haven't been off the edge as productive as you want
them to be. But somehow they find a passing pass rush,
largely because Jalen Carter is like, just be destroying. Like
he's like Reggie White junior inside and he's.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Only gonna get better and better.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yeah, I got a question for you, Dave, if you
could help me out with this, because it's interesting.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
To know these these are topics we're not allowed to
discuss here.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
These these two guys though, Quinyan and Cooper, they were
highly rated.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
You know, they got all the talent in the world.
But then you talk about.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
The coaches too, and it's hard, you know, it's we
can't decipher what is what I'd be curious to know
if you had any insight on like is this just
like is Quentnwn just that talented.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Or I was just I need I need some help
with from Trey on this.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
I believe that everybody comes into the league and they're talented,
and then you then you go to other parts of
their game. How much do they want to work, how
much do they want to be great? And what kind
of coaching are they getting? And like Jeff Stoutlan is
a great example. Not every offensive lineman who's come through
Philly is a great offensive lineman, but Stout makes you
play to the very best of your ability, right, Trey
(17:12):
like it is a combination of Quinnyon and Cooper being
really talented, taking the coaching and being taught really well.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
I think it's that, Yeah, your talent has to be there,
but I think being able to receive the coaching and
the coaching that's you know, when you can break it
down and you can break it down in the steps
to what the guys can explain understand and then they
have a progression. When you have coaching that's giving you
that style and can show you on film exactly what's
going on, that's that can only make you better, especially
(17:39):
with your talent, and you have to be a student.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Of the game to get to that level.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I'll say this too that I like about Vick Fanziel
is He's from the area, He's got roots in the area.
He's an older guy and older coach. This is probably
gonna be his last stop. Like you don't have to
worry about like two years ago, where you had young
coordinators that were gonna get picked out.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
As soon as you got to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
You mean the guy that forgot, You mean the guy
that forgot the created defensive schematic for the Super Bowl
before he got hired by Well.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
They had a good first half.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Jonathan annin that defense did a great job in the
first half and then Patrick Mahomes does what Patrick Mahomes
does and he and he made it happen. But I'll
tell you that I think that the Eagles have all
the pieces, the maturity, the and.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
They they're gonna have it for a little while.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Yeah, it's gonna be a team now that the position
coaches are gonna be picked apart, but the coordinators, I mean,
I don't know if Kellen Moore gets a job, but
I don't think the I don't think Vic's going anywhere,
and I think that's really comforting.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Aha. See no, rutche keep going love it?
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Uh and so so I mean so, And what is
your read, Quinnie, because you're the harsh critic, what is
your read of Jalen this year?
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Honestly, you you get reports and rumors. You know, you
don't hear a lot of you know what's actually going
on at the Nova Care Complex. But it seems like
he's been a better leader this year, at least not
the leader from the last seven games of last year's season.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Isn't it interesting? Okay?
Speaker 4 (19:09):
And a tangent Kelsey retires, Fletcher Cox retires, young energy
comes into the building, and all of a sudden, the
perception is that.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
The vibe is better in the building.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Breaking news on Twitter, Dave Spadar says last year's collapse
was brain was.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
I said, the perception is thanks Diaz, good to see again.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Doesn't say what it What it is is young when
when older players are done, young players have an opportunity
to step up.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
This team has had young players step up.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
And you know, Jalen Carter is a star, and the
young defensive backs are great and all of a sudden,
red blanket.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Chip's a really good player. All of a sudden, we
got good line.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Nakobe Dean is healthy and making plays.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Nakobe zach Bonn is the.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Best free agent signing other than Sakwan Barkley in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Nakobe Dean's mother, Nikita and Jalen Carter's uh mom had
been pivotal figures at all of our tailgates pep rallies
on the road.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
They're they're they're with the Green Legion since Brazil. I
didn't know that. Yeah, they're, they're fantastic. They nowhere to go.
Can care of them always?
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Yeah, I mean, could you did you ask missus Carter
how she it's actually missus Brown.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Missus Brown, how how she gave birth.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
To such an If I may, if I may, he
may may. I want to make sure I say this properly.
She's a very attractive woman. She's also about six to two.
That's without heels, so she.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
That there's there there She's not, she's not you know
this way.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
She's She's beautiful. She really is, you know, like.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
I'm just saying, I'm saying she's.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
About the only one to right.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
I just thought I don't want to say that she's
the only one that could given birth to Jalen Carter.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Restraining order in three.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
All right, all right, so I think he's an animal
to take you off.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
It's not the wags of Green Legion, it's the m
o ms of Green Legion.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Katy Ring goes, Mom, does she ever come by?
Speaker 6 (21:27):
No?
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Whos Cam Durgon's uh durs always around?
Speaker 2 (21:33):
How about has has a Cooper's family? Like are they
part of you know? As soon as as soon as
we find them?
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Yeah, all right, because they will generally come, you know,
find us. Yeah, just hey, we want to hang out
and Steph and Steph sniffs that out immediately, it's like, okay,
your permanent partner.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Like like here's here's like an example of why the
Eagles have been good this year, Like Dallas Goddard has
been injured all season, right, and Grant Calcatara finally gets
his chance. Who's been a frequent he was on our
show shows, and he's making plays and scoring touchdowns and
helping the Eagles win.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Like it just my favorite Grant Capitara play is him
about ten yards behind Saquad run it into the episode
like this, Yeah, mine was when Goddard ful the football
and he recovered it.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah, mine, that is mine.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
But the one that caught my attention last week other
than the touchdown, DeVante Smith catches a pass on the
sideline and Calcutta is down there in the block and
knocks this guy down and Davante gets like three or
four more yards inside the eight yard inside the ten
yard line, and like a cheering and like all of
a sudden blocking is a is a big part of
what Grant's doing, and he's enjoying it, and he's gotten
(22:39):
really good at it. And to me, that's good coaching
and a player who wants to get better.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Dave, I got a question for you based off of,
like the Eagles kind of got away by the skin
of their teeth last week. If the guy catches that
football and he doesn't drop it right right by the
goal line, you know, obviously they would have a shot
with about forty seconds left to go down the field
and tie the game or take the lead, or go
to overtime.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
However it would it win.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
There's been a lot about how the team responded after
the game. They weren't they weren't happy about how the
game went, how they performed. There's been a lot of
media publicity going on this week about like, is this
the downfall the Eagles after last year's collapse. I don't
believe that it is. You're around the team a lot
more than us. What had been the vibes this week
at the Novacare compell.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Obviously the big story was Jalen and AJ Brown and
Brandon Graham, And I think that you know, when when
something like that happens, you go into figuring out where
is this all coming from? Then you kind of do
damage control. Brandon Graham misspoke, he accepted responsibility for it,
and Jalen and Aj I thought were both very and
(23:39):
Nick really good with the media. Now what does that mean?
It is AJ gonna get fifteen.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Fifteen, He's gonna get fifteen targets?
Speaker 4 (23:47):
Absolutely, I mean you think, right, oh yeah, he's gonna
get the ball. I mean to Trey lived through t
O and Donovan, and that's the story that never went away.
This story goes away, This story goes way if the
Eagles win. When the Eagles win today and A. J.
Brown has a big day, nobody will talk about it anymore.
If that's not the case, then I don't know how
(24:08):
it's gonna turn out.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
But this is my problem.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
And I hope that this or that that, that that
coach Sirianna doesn't abandon the game plan to appease. I
don't think you will. You know, well they have done
that before, where you know, like iff Devontae Smiths doesn't
get any he has one target. Do you know he's
going to get a lot of targets the next game?
Speaker 4 (24:25):
So soak tray. Honestly, to me, if they throw a
lot to AJ Brown, I'm on the work.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
We're not arguing, We're not just pointing it out that.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
You running the ball and feeding your cow bail, just
to say, all right, you know what, we're going to
turn this thing into a passing game again.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
I was raised in the Andy Reid years of throw early,
get a lead and run lads, and we've been talking
about that year and so I but I early on,
if you have a choice of throwing to Johann Dotson
or a J. Brown, maybe H Brown's a better option.
Get the offense going early on three and ounts.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Aren't gonna happen. I think a third option. I'm not
gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
This crowd today is all geared up looking for number
eleven to get the football.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Yes, we are right, So so what.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
A great way to get the crowd into the game.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Throw the ball at a J. Brown early.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
I have no idea what they're gonna do. A lot
depends on the looks that the Steelers give them. I
think the Eagles can move to the football. I actually
think the Egles going. I actually think in a weird
way that the Steelers. This is a bit of a
trap game for the Steelers. They played Cleveland last week,
they played Baltimore next week. What does this game really
matter to the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Do they have a short week? Are they playing on Christmas?
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Are they one of the teams Christmas is two weeks
from now. Well, I didn't know if they're playing on Saturday.
They play Saturday Saturday against and so.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
That's Is that why Elliott's not playing? Is that why
Pickens is playing? Are they holding them out for the
Baltimore Ravens. I mean they're missing three starters today the Steelers,
and so I think the offense can do whatever it once.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Honestly, as long as teach what is under control.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
You guys, we only have five minutes left with Dave,
I do want to appease myself. Yeah, And I want
you to talk about Zach Bond. I really do, because
you're talking to talking about a one point six million
dollar contract right now.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
That's going to turn into ten plus million a year
next year.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
But with who Yeah, I mean, I think it's a
pr nightmare if you let him go.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
I think you win. I think you win the Super
Bowl and then then you figure out what to do.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
But Zach Bond is an example of a personnel department
that identifies, along with the coaching staff, a player who
can fit into your scheme based on very few reps
of what.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
They saw in New Orleans.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
So you go out and you sign him, and you think,
all right, well, maybe he's gonna compete for some playing time,
good depth, really good on special teams. All of a
sudden he comes in and from day one, Zach Bond
is like, Hey, I got a chance to earn some
playing time here. I got a chance to have a
one one year deal, prove it and go out and
have a great year. And everything is just falling into places,
and he is the perfect linebacker for.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
This football team.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
He can cover, he's got athleticism, his tackling is outstanding.
He's got a knack for big plays. Everybody loves him.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
I mean, why didn't New Orleans see any of this?
Speaker 4 (27:18):
The've always had it, but New Orles has always had
a really good defense. And again, I think a player's
success comes from not just having talent, but the coaching scheme,
the coaching staff where they're putting the player that you
always hear, oh, we got to put players in position
to make plays. This is an example of that, putting
Zach Bond in the right spots. He's not an edge player,
(27:40):
he's an off ball linebacker, but he can blitz and uh,
he's done it all for this defense. He has been outstanding.
And it helps when you got Carter Davis, Williams, Morojomo
and all those guys up front.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Real quick talk about Bill Williams.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
He wins up front.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
He's he's a an active, produce producing guy. He's hungry,
he's got great energy, he's really physical. He can play
on the edge a little bit for you set the run,
set the edge against the run. Wins in one on
ones at getting to the quarterback, very good against the run.
You know, when you look at the defense for next year,
you got Bond, you got you got a sweaty j
(28:25):
and you got Williams free agents.
Speaker 6 (28:27):
What about Jordan Davis because you know what I'm saying,
because he has been stepping up.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
You know, you don't see the numbers, but I think
that well.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
I mean, hey, Trey, when you only when you get
when you get to a point where you're only playing
twelve snaps a game, you look around you go, why
am I only playing twelve snaps a game? I need
to play better there. Vic Fangio is not gonna doesn't
give a crap if I was the first round draft pick.
He's putting the best players on the field. I'm not
on the field. I want to be on the field.
So you you step up your game. And he stepped
up the game. Yeah, and I love it. And today
you have to do that because I look at the
(28:55):
Steelers and I'm like, if they can't run the ball,
I don't know how many moon balls Russell Wilson get
through down the field. To be Russell Wilson was always
the biggest paint in the butt for have we ever
beaten him?
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Live?
Speaker 6 (29:05):
And not.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Tell me?
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Let this guy in so yeah, pains wrong party, Wrong party,
my friends.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
That way wrong, wrong green. Make sure he has a.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Wristband, looks like Martin back to the Future.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Three that I was. I was just gonna say that.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
The two pickups of the Austin Saquon, who's just everyone
everyone locally here with the Penn State Ties ever.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Loved him anyway, and like, oh man, I just hope he.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Could be like the best, the best Saquon and he's
been the best running back in Eagles history. And then
Zach Bond on the opposite where hey, maybe this guy
will contribute, and then you know he said.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
One minute, wait and wait, wait, there's one more though, Diaz,
what about again?
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Same as Bond who tackle a tackle.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
At with the Jets and he's playing guard and he's
playing well.
Speaker 6 (30:02):
Just playing guard, but switched over to right guard. Yeah,
because he's played left tackle. The muscle memory that they
had to take. And when you're saying, all right, you're
playing right guard for this offense, you have to control
the silent count. His addition to this offensive line has
been coach stoutless cherry on the top of what.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Is alright?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
And the other one is this, how about Cam Jurgen's
being a great center?
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Is a great center.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
He is.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Yeah, you have to go over there and turn off
all their mics.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
You're saying with the special teams for a minute. Special
everybody his hands down. Coach Stoutless.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
I mean, you know, haven't man?
Speaker 4 (30:43):
That was amazing, right? Who would have thought that trade?
Nobody would. In New York he was painted as being
soft and didn't want to play, and here he's physical
and he's playing.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Would want to level.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Alright, Thank you everybody. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Go birds.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Go birds.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Hopefully, well let's catch up in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
That's day. Health, family, everybody good, That one's good.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
All right?
Speaker 2 (35:46):
I want to go back to Makai Beck then.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Switching over there is a journalist that's right, well offensive
Nan good offensive Lineman.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
Man, I mean, come on, dude, dude, you know when
you talk like you look at what join Malina, what
coach Stein did with joint Mayelata, which was extremely impressive,
but you had it was a progression. It was a
four year project and you finally got j A Lota
to step up and be what he needs to be.
But man, switching Makai over from left tackle and then
putting him over at right guard, I mean, dude, and
(36:20):
you only had a couple of months to get the
muscle memory and everything that happens. Man, that was right
there is one of coach Stottlon's biggest feathers.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
In his cap.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
I got a question for you, Trey about McKay back then,
because you came here high draft pick and it worked
out and we were all happy that you were here.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Mckaye. Back then, you know, high draft pick, lots.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Of talent, natural talent, some injuries, didn't work out, conflicts,
you know, hold on jets.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Yeah right, I know, I know no.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
But then to come here, I'm just saying because you
you were in that same position. You know you were,
you worked out, but you almost have to kind of
swallow your pride a little bit and accept what what
people are seeing in you or something like. To get
to that level, you gotta be happy, lack of a better word,
an ego.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
You gotta believe in yourself and.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
There's gotta be some sort of you know, attitude adjustment
or something like.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I'm not saying he was a bad guy before.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
I'm just saying like, hey man, I gotta accept like
maybe you.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Know, I need to listen more or something like you
talking that.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
I think one of the things when you have coach Stotlin,
I mean, he's he's someone that commands respect, you know,
So you have someone that as long as you have
a player that comes in that's home readier, wants to learn,
and that he's gonna give you everything that he has
to play, then that's all you need, you know, and
I think Coach Stotland has that command that you can
bring someone like that then that may have had some
issues on another team, but that's gonna come here and
(37:41):
feel like, you know what, if I listen, I can
continue to be the player that I thought I would,
that I had built myself up to be, and that
everybody else built myself up to be. So I think that,
you know, his adjustment here has been one of Coach
Stotland's greatest coaching things.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Absolutely, absolutely trade Trey coming from a guy that watches
the tape, talk a little bit about what the offensive
line the Eagles is going up against today in TJ. Watt,
Cameron Hayward, that that Pittsburgh defense, say what you will
about about you know what's going on with Russell Wilson
five and zero against the Eagles. Obviously George Pickens is
out on the other side offensively, but that defense still
(38:19):
has a lot of talent at every level on that
side of the ball. But knowing what the Eagles are
going up against with TJ. Watt, Cameron Hayward, Patrick Queen
there in the linebacker spot, why don't you talk a
little bit about what you've seen on the tape this week.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Going into this.
Speaker 6 (38:32):
Matchup, I think that you know you're gonna have to
those combination blocks are gonna have to be there.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
You know, it's gonna be the same game plan.
Speaker 6 (38:38):
It's pretty much like you did at Baltimore, where everybody
in this offensive line needs to make sure that hey,
we get these combination bocks, we get Sa Kwan going early.
This defense is going to set up situations where you're
going to be man on and Cam sometimes is gonna
have to hold down the middle of that offensive line. Now,
what TJ. Watt is going to bring not only as
a good pass rushers in the where the brunt is
(39:01):
going away from him, he is heavy in pursuit. So
how you handle that is going to be important as
well when you talk about does run game with this defense.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
By the way, Green Leadson announcement at this tailgate, At
this tailgate only, we're giving a fifty dollars discount for
the Washington bus trip next Sunday. If you want to
go to Washington. If you want to go to Washington,
go see step at the front where you checked in
(39:33):
and take advantage of the fifty dollars discount.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Sorry, that's all I happened. MC kai Becton. All right.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Well, first of all, you said going from left left
tackle to right guard, it is a bit of an
easier transition going from tackle to guard, and almost impossible
to go from guard to tackle.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Well, you have that, You've had that happen all the time.
Speaker 6 (39:52):
Where Todd Harrimans can go from tackle to guard. That's
not a problem. You know, you had a friar that
did that, that would do it, you know, So that's
not the problem. The problem is when you switch sides
where you go from left to right, your job different, Yes,
it's totally different. Your power, your post step, everything is
totally different, and the timing you know. Okay, So as
(40:13):
a left tackle, I never want to shoot with my
outside hand first. That's just one of the things I
was always taught, always play inside out. If I throw
my outside hand first and you have a defensive end
that cleans that outside hand, or he does any type
of swim move to attack that outside hand, you have
nothing else to battle with. So you're always taught to
throw inside, inside, inside, only bringing outside. So if you're
(40:36):
saying all right, bringing right, bringing right now, if you
switch over to the right side, and you're used to
throwing your right hand first all the time. Now you're
throwing you outside and it gets cleaned.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
So how long does that take to It takes a lot.
Speaker 6 (40:49):
I think that the progression that coach Stoutley did by
making him play that first preseason game help big time
because he's the only starter on that offensive line that
played during the preseason, and I was in the per
preseason game, and what Coach Stoutley did there is to
make him to get used to the rhythm of the
silent count.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Being the one to look back and get back.
Speaker 6 (41:08):
You know, there were times earlier in the game where
you could see his footwork he kind of got a little,
you know, just muscle memory kicked in. But I think
he has handled it extremely well, switching to the other
side and being able to be strong enough to create
the power that's needed in the run game as being
a guard.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Speaking of big hands, how many animals did they have
to kill to provide your gloves there, Trey? I mean,
or at least you could you could take those off
and cover up sass bag.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Parsonfield say, like, where do you even buy those? I
don't even know where I got them. I don't know,
but they fit.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Yeah, I don't know. It's like Ricky Bobby. I don't
know what to do in my hand. I don't know
what to do, you know. Yeah, but yes, hey, before
we go into predictions, I do want to there it
is who said it was?
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Uh, just get around the league right now, because obviously
there's two pretty important games aside Today's Eagles Steelers matchup.
Do you see any shot of New Orleans handling Washington,
uh and giving us the NFC East with a win.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
I believe that if now they can win the.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
NFC East today with a win and Washington loses, now
they can wrap up the two seed today. I believe
if they win, Washington loses and the Packers lose, that'll
give them the two seed. Interesting for the playoffs after
today and then and the Packers are.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
Playing in Seattle tonight on Sunday night football. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
I mean New Orleans is starting the guy today, making
his first NFL start, and the guy, I don't know.
You've seen the pictures. I know you're the social media guy.
This guy, Holy no, he's a jibbro. He's a metrosexual
to a team like this guy doesn't look like he
plays football at all. But I mean, like Brittain Covey Britton.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
We love you man. That's a joke. It's a big
Actually it was great. You have it.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
More of it on your first Players Show Guests. A
couple of years ago, Eddy cursed and it was in
a casino, in a casino.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
I loved it. It was fantasisic.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
I think I think for me is the fact that
the Bills lost last week in LA I think it
makes it more realistic than well, thank you for allowing
me to prep for all the games because you went
to all three.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
No son of a bitch, no run sheet. Yeah yeah,
there was no rush.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
How do you feel about Buffalo taking on Detroit today?
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Well, I'm mixed because I want you to go after him.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
I obviously this is just like real service level, this
is this is all about the Birds. Obviously, I want
Buffalo to beat Detroit for us to get a shot
at the one seat. But I think if that happens,
I think the MVP conversation is just locked up. If
Josh Allen goes on the road beats Detroit today, I
don't give it, Josh about the MVP. I don't either why,
(43:54):
I don't care. I don't either. Obviously I want Buffalo
to win. Can they I don't think so. But the
way they the only way they do that is if
Josh Allen has another you know, five TV games, you're
away in.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
No, Okay, care about well, you have to.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
You have to look at this. Okay, we're we're we do.
We want the one seed. I want two home tailgates
and that's it to get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
Sometimes I buy and hurt you. You got you gotta
remember this now, all right?
Speaker 3 (44:32):
We both have what's considered pretty easy schedules for the
rest of the season, Eagles having.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
A little bit easier of a schedule than Detroit.
Speaker 3 (44:41):
But Detroit does have to play Buffalo today and Minnesota still,
and Minnesota is not ready to give up the NFC
North not done yet.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
I'll let you know when you can speak. Thank you
after the roast last week.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
I don't know what you're talking about. Kiss my ass, Siri,
what's a rose?
Speaker 3 (44:59):
He let's the rest, But this, this would require us
to win out DS weigh in.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
I agree, and actually, hey, great, I think I think
I think I should. I'm gonna have to correct you.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
I think Detroit's got like the sixth hardest remaining schedule.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
No, I think this is the sixth easiest.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
No, no, no, because they got Buffalo and Minnesota still
in the schedule.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
But they have oh and they have green Bay too.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Yeah, the Bears and the Niners or the other two games,
and green Bay is in green Bay.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
I don't yes, yeah, because that they already played green
Bay twice.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
It's it's Buffalo, the Bears outdoors, Sanfran outdoors, and because
they're right, you're right.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
That's Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
So it's it's there's still a chance we've got the
easiest schedule.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Well, there's a there's.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
A there's a lot to be said also for resting
players that there's that.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
I like, I understand.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
I don't I get it. You know, I don't want
to go to Detroit. First of all, anytime anybody says, hey,
quib let's go to Detroit, I'm gonna tell you to
go to Hell.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
I thought you had. I don't care in Detroit. I
don't care if it's for a game. I don't care
if it's for a wedding.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
I don't care if it's to bang the prom Queen
all right, I'm not going to Detroit, prom queen.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
I thought that already.
Speaker 7 (46:12):
The Green Legion branded bulletproof best right, Detroit.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
How often do people go up Tuesday, hey.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
Quick, the Legion, the green Legit Kevlar collection. How often
are people asking you to go.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
To Detroit with you? Dude?
Speaker 3 (46:26):
I know, right, So let's go to predictions real quick.
And I only have two kajatas today. I like to
think they're pretty funny, Drake, give us a take on
today's game.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Good prediction.
Speaker 6 (46:39):
I think that one of the things that we have
to do is just make sure that we stick to
the game plan. You know, I see us winning this one.
It's going to be a tighty one. I think twenty eight,
you know, twenty three?
Speaker 3 (46:52):
All right, that's a that's a higher scoring game that
I mean. I think I bet the under. I bet
Pittsburgh to cover the five and a half twenty seventeen Birds.
I'm just gonna go twenty four to seventeen as well,
because I just look at it. The Eagles right now,
it's a five point spread. I think with a five
is a five and a half. Now, it's still an
Eagles line to make.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
I can't I can't make up full production. I think
it's gonna be lower.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Than all of you think, of course, Sam lower than
all of us.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
Well that she wouldn't say that after Spots was here.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Yeah, slash not the way that microphone looks.
Speaker 7 (47:28):
I think George Pickens being out huge, like Spud said,
not gonna be many moon balls for Ross.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
I think the Eagles cover the spread.
Speaker 7 (47:36):
I think it's probably about twenty six twenty nice still
one possession.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
I'm not you know, I don't do it, yep, no, no, no,
you can't go full panel. Don't do it.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
No, but we also need Jensen, who hasn't said a
word all day.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Well because he's hired. Nice, I got birds winning.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Twenty four to ten.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
Alright, double up on the spread, all right. Two Kajatas
will be the judge whether they're funny or not.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
You are not, sir, I am very funny, sir. They
did they.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
Include any references to pop culture before nineteen eighty six?
Speaker 2 (48:22):
Hey, Siri, fire Ds, I don't know. I don't know
if your hair will represent that either.
