and that interception, three hundred and fifty five pound tackle
dropping back in coverage and jumping the route, and I'm
getting goosebumps right now just watching the celebration, hysterical. He's

is no way in hell I am going to take
this downfield, drops takes a knee, and his entire.

Chanson talk about a moment like that, because honestly, that's
my second favorite play.

and defensive linemen are by far the best athletes on

human being dropping into coverage and then intercepting a barriage

at the line of scrimmage or whatever. No, he dropped
back into coverage, covered a running back and was able
to get a pick. Yeah, all the time on linemen
are by far offensive defensive linemen or by far like
the best athletes on a football field at all times.

well as he did and be a key contributor in

one of the biggest reasons why the Eagles are as
good as they are in a two thousand yard rusher
in Saquon Barkley. And that's that's got to be a
great feeling. And that's it's got to be a great
feeling just because again the adversity had to deal with

Cam Jurgens now all really great players, all really good leaders.
That's gotta be an amazing feeling to kind of see
that rewarded with an NFC East Division title, his first one,
his first division title, any title, uh in in his

Bowl be the Eagles.

I was telling ladies this story earlier today at our tailgate.
Obviously I didn't come up for the game. I have
four season tickets. I wanted to do something. You know how,
we try to take care of first responders in military
whenever we can, and I immediately thought about Jamie Romanu,
the fallen Philadelphia police officer was shot and a routine

traffic stop in Kensington battled. You know, it was on
life support for a couple of months and passed away
in September. Thanks to our network, which, by the way,
you guys are just out.

Of control phenomenal.

We we not only got in touch with Jazmine immediately,
I didn't want to give her just my four tickets
and four passes to our tailgate. I only have my
four tickets, but I said, hey, bring ten people to
the tailgate. You know, the holidays have to be a
little difficult, especially with our young son, who you know,
was still.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Kind of trying to figure out what happened to Dad.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
It's it's, it's it's it's tragic in every way, but
I do know that at times we're able to at
least give people a little bit of an escape, and
that's what we were trying to accomplish. And last night,
my friend of the program, Green Legion legend, Damien cal

Pocus cal Pocus painting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Everybody, Damien reached
out to me and goes, hey, I have two tickets
do you want them? I'm not going to go to
the game, you know, can you give them to somebody
that would use them? And I'm like, oh my god,
why did I not think of this? And I immediately
got on just my social network personal, not even the

Green Legion, and I'm like, hey, we've got ten people
that's with Jasmine Hernandez and you know, the family of
Jamie Roman, and we'd like to send everybody to the game.
And within ten minutes we had fourteen tickets donated, which
we gave to other first responders as well because we

already had six. So we wound up with twenty ten
other people first responders at our tailgate going into the game.
Thanks to you guys, and I uh, Bri Bri Lynn Uh.
She said it best. She goes that that's effing Philly. Yeah,
that's effing Philly. And I just I want to thank

you guys for that. Jasmine has been so excited, her
son is so excited. And this is the funny part.

How do you how did you nurture it? How did
you know?

How did when did you know that Jalen had a
real opportunity to go for broke, to make it at
the highest level of the most popular sport in the
United States and getting close because let's be honest, soccer
sucks you guys. Okay, FIFA and soccer can all blow

a Richard okay fact, but.

Tell the story. Uh, just in you know it.

I'm so curious how you know how it evolved and
you as a mom of somebody that is absolutely talented.
Your your son's crazy. By the way, all right, when
he comes off the line. Nobody can stop. When I
say nobody, I mean one or two nobody. I'm sorry,

Please, Okay, So this is exciting all of those accolades.
I need those because I was trying to remember and
write all of those people where we're done. Definitely, thank
you for that, thank you for having us.

I mean, I have no idea. He is amazing. He's awesome.
And he was from birth about five he was only
eight pounds or thirteen ounces. That is not big.

Now about a week later he was ten pounds and
that is no lie. Really, that is no lie. He
started formula Cereal in his formula. He started eating table
food at a very early age and I would say
three months, so he's always been huge. About five years old,
one of my high school friends said, Hey, Tony, could

you let him play football? And I'm like, hell no,
not my baby football. No, I don't want him to
get hurt. But he was semi fact so I'm like, Jalen,
let's go try this. And he was a very active
young man, and so I tried it and it was
(20:19):
something that he was great at. I knew from the
first day of Little league practice at five years old.
I've been told that from every coach that he's encountered. Oh,
he is going to be great if you keep him
involved in this sport. And as a single parent, it
was a struggle. It was a struggle to keep him
involved with the sports, the expenses that occurred.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
The I didn't know to ask about whether or not
you were single parent, because I think I've asked you
out every time you've been with us.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Yeah, very much so a single parent, and I would
not change it for the world. My kids, I have
two kids. My kids are amazing. I kept them on track,
I kept them guided, grounded and rooted into the church.
And my outlet was sports. I needed to say to
work until six o'clock, and I needed a free program
(21:13):
so you can go to after school. So whatever sport
they're playing out of school, you're going football, soccer, basketball.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Or whatever.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
No soccer, Hey, as long as you can stay there
until six o'clock until I can.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Pick you up. Perfect. When did when did it get real?
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I mean, I understand it, it has been real from
day one, But when did it really hit? So I
would say, you're okay for going a little over this, absolutely, yeah, absolutely,
about ninth grade it got real.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
That's when I start hearing from the college coaches and
the recruiters and you know, people that weren't even supposed
to talk to me about Jalen being as great as
he was. I but here through other people. Hey, this
person wants to talk to you. Someone would hand me
a magazine and it would have a.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Letter in it, please call me. Ninth grade.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Ninth grade, And I had seen all this stuff on TV,
but it was actually happening, you know, in my life.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Now crazy, that's nuts, that's arazy, that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
When did he commit to Georgia?
Speaker 6 (22:24):
So he really wanted to commit on our first visit,
and I'm like, no, it's other options out there. Make
sure you go out and weigh your options. But we
waited until his senior year to commit because I wanted
to be sure that he was sure. And I always
had this thing about kids that commit early and then
they come back and have to produce this letter you know,
(22:46):
oh we're going to de commit. So I wanted him
to be sure that that was where he wanted to go.
I really wanted him to go there because again I
was a single parent, it was close to home, and
we also have family in Georgia. If somebody needed to
get to him you know soon.

ever run with the ball because he was too big.
So he had a white stripe on the helmets.

Yeah, Yeah, When when he would have friends over and

He was quite an athlete, never really went through an

was just so excited that that he was a Nebraska
Cornhusker because you know, we grew up that was Nebraska.

are two guys that would be really all that expensive.

it's just a no brainer for both of those guys

as well. Like there's just been so much about Lane
Johnson in every step of the way has been not
only professional, but just an amazing football player or two

prioritized getting Jaalen Carter in the draft, because that was
a really special player.

And I think with Saquon Barkley, he realized, I have
a chance here, not at like top dollar, not at

best running backs in the league, and like a very

and behind what already is like a Jeff Statlin University
offensive line that has had Pro Bowlers left and right

since he's been there for the past fifteen years, that
he has turned into now like one of the greatest
offensive players in the field.

And that is a remarkable thing.

To have for an offense that pretty much needed it

all over again. The Sycon Barkley has been amazing. Sekon

getting goosebumps right now just watching the celebration, hysterical. He's

is no way in hell I am going to take
this downfield, drops takes a knee, and his entire.

Chanson talk about a moment like that, because honestly, that's
my second favorite play.

back into coverage, covered a running back and was able

are by far offensive defensive linemen or by far like
the best athletes on a football field at all times.

when you don't end up panning out, fans pile on you.

well as he did and be a key contributor in

one of the biggest reasons why the Eagles are as
good as they are in a two thousand yard rusher
in Saquon Barkley. And that's that's got to be a
great feeling. And that's it's got to be a great
feeling just because again the adversity had to deal with

They piled on him a lot, and so I'm sure
that has to break somebody, uh mentally and to think

that maybe I'm not good enough to be in this
league and then they go to the Eagles and to

to have Jeff Jeff Statlin help you to have guys
like Jordan Maya, a lot, Elaine Johnson, Lane Dickerson, even
Cam Jurgens now all really great players, all really good leaders.
That's gotta be an amazing feeling to kind of see
that rewarded with an NFC East Division title, his first one,
his first division title, any title, uh in in his

the fallen Philadelphia police officer was shot and a routine

traffic stop in Kensington battled. You know, it was on
life support for a couple of months and passed away
in September. Thanks to our network, which, by the way,

We we not only got in touch with Jazmine immediately,
I didn't want to give her just my four tickets
and four passes to our tailgate. I only have my
four tickets, but I said, hey, bring ten people to
the tailgate. You know, the holidays have to be a
little difficult, especially with our young son, who you know,
was still.

Kind of trying to figure out what happened to Dad.

It's it's, it's it's it's tragic in every way, but
I do know that at times we're able to at
least give people a little bit of an escape, and
that's what we were trying to accomplish. And last night,
my friend of the program, Green Legion legend, Damien cal

Pocus cal Pocus painting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Everybody, Damien reached
out to me and goes, hey, I have two tickets
do you want them? I'm not going to go to
the game, you know, can you give them to somebody
that would use them? And I'm like, oh my god,
why did I not think of this? And I immediately
got on just my social network personal, not even the

Green Legion, and I'm like, hey, we've got ten people
that's with Jasmine Hernandez and you know, the family of
Jamie Roman, and we'd like to send everybody to the game.
And within ten minutes we had fourteen tickets donated, which
we gave to other first responders as well because we

already had six. So we wound up with twenty ten
other people first responders at our tailgate going into the game.
Thanks to you guys, and I uh, Bri Bri Lynn Uh.
She said it best. She goes that that's effing Philly. Yeah,
that's effing Philly. And I just I want to thank

you guys for that. Jasmine has been so excited, her
son is so excited. And this is the funny part.

I'm so curious how you know how it evolved and
you as a mom of somebody that is absolutely talented.
Your your son's crazy. By the way, all right, when

Please, Okay, So this is exciting all of those accolades.
I need those because I was trying to remember and
write all of those people where we're done. Definitely, thank

I mean, I have no idea. He is amazing. He's awesome.
And he was from birth about five he was only
eight pounds or thirteen ounces. That is not big.

Now about a week later he was ten pounds and
that is no lie. Really, that is no lie. He
started formula Cereal in his formula. He started eating table
food at a very early age and I would say
three months, so he's always been huge. About five years old,
one of my high school friends said, Hey, Tony, could

you let him play football? And I'm like, hell no,
not my baby football. No, I don't want him to
get hurt. But he was semi fact so I'm like, Jalen,
let's go try this. And he was a very active
young man, and so I tried it and it was
(20:19):
something that he was great at. I knew from the
first day of Little league practice at five years old.
I've been told that from every coach that he's encountered. Oh,
he is going to be great if you keep him
involved in this sport. And as a single parent, it
was a struggle. It was a struggle to keep him
involved with the sports, the expenses that occurred.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
The I didn't know to ask about whether or not
you were single parent, because I think I've asked you
out every time you've been with us.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Yeah, very much so a single parent, and I would
not change it for the world. My kids, I have
two kids. My kids are amazing. I kept them on track,
I kept them guided, grounded and rooted into the church.
And my outlet was sports. I needed to say to
work until six o'clock, and I needed a free program
(21:13):
so you can go to after school. So whatever sport
they're playing out of school, you're going football, soccer, basketball.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Or whatever.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
No soccer, Hey, as long as you can stay there
until six o'clock until I can.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Pick you up. Perfect. When did when did it get real?
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I mean, I understand it, it has been real from
day one, But when did it really hit? So I
would say, you're okay for going a little over this, absolutely, yeah, absolutely,
about ninth grade it got real.

That's when I start hearing from the college coaches and
the recruiters and you know, people that weren't even supposed
to talk to me about Jalen being as great as
he was. I but here through other people. Hey, this
person wants to talk to you. Someone would hand me
a magazine and it would have a.

Letter in it, please call me. Ninth grade.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Ninth grade, And I had seen all this stuff on TV,
but it was actually happening, you know, in my life.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Now crazy, that's nuts, that's arazy, that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
When did he commit to Georgia?
Speaker 6 (22:24):
So he really wanted to commit on our first visit,
and I'm like, no, it's other options out there. Make
sure you go out and weigh your options. But we
waited until his senior year to commit because I wanted
to be sure that he was sure. And I always
had this thing about kids that commit early and then
they come back and have to produce this letter you know,
(22:46):
oh we're going to de commit. So I wanted him
to be sure that that was where he wanted to go.
I really wanted him to go there because again I
was a single parent, it was close to home, and
we also have family in Georgia. If somebody needed to
get to him you know soon.

all right, third Team All Big Ten twenty twenty one,
spent three seasons waiting behind possibly the greatest center to
ever play the game, and when he gets his chance

first year, makes it to the Pro Bowl. He has
been a pivotal part of this offense. He's been a
pivotal part of Saquon Barkley's success.

We're gonna get into Saquon two a little bit, Chancy.

We may go over a little bit, since I'm not
broadcasting over the speaker system here at the Parrot. Uh
there's a few things to say, but Beth, you've been
you've been with us for well since the beginning, and
and and you and your husband have been fantastic.

I just talk a little bit about the road for
Cam and and and how you don't use a mom
just like Tony was talking about earlier, how how you
helped him achieve these goals.

Yeah, I listened to's part of Jalen's mom talk. I
didn't hear at all. But I know Cam from the
very beginning. He was always quite an athlete. He was
quite a bit taller than everybody else at his age,
even in the Great School. And uh so he's actually

been playing tackle football since third grade. But he couldn't
ever run with the ball because he was too big.
So he had a white stripe on the helmets.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
And oh my god, Tony over here is just nodding
in agreement with you and laughing hysterically.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
You guys hear something in common. That's great.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Yeah, Yeah, When when he would have friends over and
they they'd always take their shoes off at the door,
I guess, and you could almost put two of his
friend's shoes into his one shoe because his feet were
so big from the very beginning.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
But no, he was.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
He was quite an athlete, never really went through an
awkward stage. He just always was very, very talented.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
So did he practice on battle?
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Well, the some of the posts make it look like
he did. I don't know if that's factual or exaggerated,
one of the two.

You know, you know what, Beth, it is what anybody
wants to believe it is because that video still makes
me smile every single time I see it. It's it's
just and in his cowboy boots too.

Yeah, yeah, with the cattle though. But I don't know
if that was his workout or not.

So have you ever seen the video?

It's it's Cam standing off against a steer and you
know it kind of kind of like he's practicing, you know,
pass blocking. It's great, Beth, When did when did you

Cam was going to be special at this game?

Well? I don't know when I actually thought he might
hit the pros. I guess. We were so ecstatic that
he was offered a scholarship at Nebraska in his freshman
year of high school. So, you know, I guess that
was kind of the first part of being you know,

knowing that he was going to probably be pretty good.
I think my husband thought it before I did. I
was just so excited that that he was a Nebraska
Cornhusker because you know, we grew up that was Nebraska.
Cornhuskers were everything. So now we're learning that the Pros
are pretty important too.

Are you going to be coming to the Pro Bowl
when he when he comes, well.

I'm hoping that he's not at it. Actually, I'm I'm

they don't spend him on Makai Becton and Zach Bond,

Well, yeah, you want to sign this because you ended up,
you know, getting great free agent players and you would
like to keep them around.

And the good thing is too.

I think when that happens, players like Zach Bond and
Mackai Becton, two players that really didn't know what their
NFL future was, that the Eagles kind of gave them
a career rejuvenation. I think that would mean they would
want to come back. Not only just would they want
to test. I'm sure they'll want to test maybe free
agency a little bit, see what the numbers are out there.
But I think just seeing Mackai Becton's reaction specifically that

he would want to stay in a place that really
helped his career out, and he would want to stay
in a place that he thinks he can play really
good football at. And I think Zach Bond would want
to be the same way. So I don't think those
are two guys that would be really all that expensive.
They want to stay, they'd want to do everything they
can to stay here in Philly. So yeah, I think
it's just a no brainer for both of those guys
to be here.

I'm not exactly sure. I'm forgetting because that was like
a long time ago. I'm forgetting that.

But yeah, there have been a couple of things throughout
Lane's Johnson's career that has come up. And I say
thirty second because like this, his career has has just
been so good, and it's gone through a lot from
like the guy who drafted him specifically, and what the
Eagles have gone through what he's gone through in his
own career with as well as as you just mentioned
whatever that was with the ped suspension, but then also

his mental health and him being a mental health advocate
as well. Like there's just been so much about Lane
Johnson in every step of the way has been not
only professional, but just an amazing football player or two
with it. The guy's just been a class act, like
a high elite player his entire career, and that's it's
pretty amazing that the Eagles have had a player like
that for so long.

First ballot Hall of Fame.

In my mind has to be like he is a
he's a one of the greatest right tackles to ever
play football, and also he has that championship like he
is a super Bowl winning player and maybe a two

Saquon Barkley, all right, First of all, I have to concede.

It's a game changing player. And I think the Eagles
had an opportunity. And it's not that maybe they don't
value the running back position all that much, maybe it's
not a number one priority for them. But I think
what I've noticed kind of with Howie Roseman, he just
prioritizes really great players, really special players. That's why he
prioritized getting Jaalen Carter in the draft, because that was
a really special player.

Coming out of the draft.

And I think with Saquon Barkley, he realized, I have
a chance here, not at like top dollar, not at
some crazy ridiculous price, I could get one of the
best running backs in the league, and like a very
special talent on our foot. Took the opportunity to do it,
and behind what already is like a Jeff Statlin University
offensive line that has had Pro Bowlers left and right

since he's been there for the past fifteen years, that
he has turned into now like one of the greatest
offensive players in the field.

And that is a remarkable thing.

To have for an offense that pretty much needed it
after last year and kind of figuring their way offensively
all over again. The Sycon Barkley has been amazing. Sekon
Barkley is also amazing in other ways. He seems like
a great teammate.

I remember seeing.

Right, I remember his last one, but I saw video.
It was a great one before New Orleans. He told
Jalen Carter, he said, remember who you are, Like we
were scared of you when I was with the Giants.

And Jalen Carter had probably the best game of his
career against the New Orleans Saints that week. He's just
a great teammate, great football player, and it's going to
be a huge asset to have in the playoffs.

All Pro is a really I think good way of
indicating a good season. But Jordan Mylta is a Pro
Bowl caliber player. By the way, He's probably the best
left tackle in football, and that's a position we put
a lot of emphasis on in football. He is the
best left tackle in football, and he's been I mean,
I know, he's been getting better and he's been great,
and he's been that way for a while. I think
this has by far been his best season, though by

far it's been the most consistent and elite he's been
all season, all year in his career.

I think he's just a phenomenal player. Do you think
missing four games had any effect on.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
This guy, He probably did, probably had a bit of
impact on it, sure, But I mean the player himself
is amazing Quinnon. It's just maybe the rookie thing and
he's not going to have the interception, so he's not
going to have the numbers. That kind of his eye
opening for everybody to see. It's that's one player that
if you are watching though, and if you're paying attention
even a little bit, yeah, that guy is one of

the top cornerbacks in football at the moment, and it's
at least played like that this season. So that's a
that's a hard one because again, the numbers aren't going
to be there. He's not had a ton of interceptions.
I don't even think he's had a ton of pass breakups.
But you just watch him play and that dude is
is a cover cornerback.
