Speaker 5 (03:23):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
We have Tony Brown here Jalen Carter's proud mother of
the most recent accomplishment of him being announced. Tony, how
are you. It's good to see you. You are one
crazy bitch. You grabbed six of your friends last night
on the phone when we were talking, and and you
guys came down with him on a mission.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
Oh yes, less than twenty four hours.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
I got the photo or the small video of the
amount of patron that got or Don Julio that got
knocked out on the bright linearess way down from Orlando.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
But nice, nice, nice work, very nice work.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
We're gonna, uh this show is we're not gonna talk
about this game today at all.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
What we're gonna talk about.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
You don't want to talk about Tanner McKey. You know what,
he is a sexy man, but no, I really just
very tall.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
You know, could see he hits his head on just
about everything, especially playing doors.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
It's fun. I always like watching people do that.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Remember when they used to have the old TVs that
came from the from the top. You know this Tony,
you're pretty tall when he's six one.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
A fine specimen.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
In case you want to know what it what it
takes to uh to deliver a Jalen Carter. Uh, yes, yes, no,
but uh I want to I want to talk real
quick about three moments in sports over the last week
and chance and you're gonna you're you're gonna, you're gonna
(04:56):
jump right on top of this with me. Three moments
in sports this week and the reason I've done this
for twenty two years. You have to be you have
to be a tad crazy to make sports. You're living
if you're not playing it seriously, and well, I like
to think I'm completely crazy as a result. If you
(05:17):
guys watch the Ravens Browns game last night, Michael Pierce
and that interception, three hundred and fifty five pound tackle
dropping back in coverage and jumping the route, and I'm
getting goosebumps right now just watching the celebration, hysterical. He's
(05:41):
got the ball, he starts to run into yours. There
is no way in hell I am going to take
this downfield, drops takes a knee, and his entire.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Team just just all over him.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Chanson talk about a moment like that, because honestly, that's
my second favorite play.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
Of the year.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, it was amazing that he just kneeled down right away.
He's like, and he kept saying afterwards in the post
came that He's like, I don't want to become a
meme and run out of gas, but I always say it,
and like, I think people are starting to realize offensive
and defensive linemen are by far the best athletes on
the field. That's like a three hundred and fifty pound
human being dropping into coverage and then intercepting a barriage
(06:24):
right like that, wasn't he he caught a tip ball
at the line of scrimmage or whatever. No, he dropped
back into coverage, covered a running back and was able
to get a pick. Yeah, all the time on linemen
are by far offensive defensive linemen or by far like
the best athletes on a football field at all times.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
There's a great story from our Hollist days when Oh
God came over from Chicago defensive end three years Eagles
mid nineties.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Has passed my time, bowler. No, I can't remember.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I can't. I was barely born, barely so bad.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
I literally have.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Been drunk for forty eight hours and I'm hoping to
finish this show.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
So there was an interception return uh while Hollis was
on defense, and Hollis started to run down field and uh, William, Uh,
I'll get it, but a more experienced defensive end stops Hollis.
(07:36):
That says, where's your fat ass going? We got to
go back out the next play. That's just reminded me
of that.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
You think Hollis at the oxygen tank real quick, just
like a quick you know what.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
I think Hollis would have made it.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
To be honest with you, I think he'd had tucked
and run, and he would have have been like the
sumo wrestler from the Replacements with six people on his
back falling into the end zone. I think he would
have made it. Uh, Tony, you know you're you're a
sports fan. You watched that play last night. Just tell
me what you thought.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
I thought that it was amazing because I love when
defense makes exceptional plays like that, and I wish that
he will.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
You are jaded?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Did has Jalen made a play like he has one
touchdown so far in his NFL career?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
But I can't remember how he got it.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
I don't remember how he got it, but I know
he got it, and I know he's capable of getting
it again.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Oh yeah, Well, we're gonna talk about that battery pack
on your kid a little bit here aside last night's
interception by Michael Pierce. Makai Becton in absolute tears after
crazy Amy comes in.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Oh hey, sorry, how are you?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Mackai Beckton in tears after a brutal road to get
to the playoffs, battled injuries and people telling me wasn't
good enough overwait Chanson, you know a lot about his
road expand but.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Yeah, He was also a high draft pick and the Jets,
you know, put a lot of stock into him, and
when you don't end up panning out, fans pile on you.
I'm sure the coaching staff was was on him. So
to be able to go to a place and have
Jeff Statlin kind of get you your confidence back, get
you into a whole different position, then also play as
well as he did and be a key contributor in
(09:26):
one of the biggest reasons why the Eagles are as
good as they are in a two thousand yard rusher
in Saquon Barkley. And that's that's got to be a
great feeling. And that's it's got to be a great
feeling just because again the adversity had to deal with
In the Jets, he got a lot of crap, I
mean from media, I remember hearing it the entire time.
They piled on him a lot, and so I'm sure
that has to break somebody, uh mentally and to think
(09:48):
that maybe I'm not good enough to be in this
league and then they go to the Eagles and to
maybe get the you know, to get that confidence back,
to have Jeff Jeff Statlin help you to have guys
like Jordan Maya, a lot, Elaine Johnson, Lane Dickerson, even
Cam Jurgens now all really great players, all really good leaders.
That's gotta be an amazing feeling to kind of see
that rewarded with an NFC East Division title, his first one,
his first division title, any title, uh in in his
(10:11):
NFL career.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
So that's gotta be a great feeling.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
We're gonna we're gonna talk a lot today about accomplishments
instead of that game. We're gonna talk about six players
that have made it to the Pro Bowl and a
couple others that.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna bring it down.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna hype everything up, and
then when that's over, then I'm gonna then I'm gonna
give the NFL the royal chef because there's a couple
of people that I don't understand. I don't understand how
did not make the Pro Bowl from this team or
it was just okay, we can't have the entire Pro
Bowl be the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Maybe you can and they should, Yeah, yeah, thank you.
The entire defense probably should have been in the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
In a in another moment of great sports everything.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
And I was talking to the ladies. Uh, I made
brunch today. By the way, Jansen, you made brunch. Somebody
didn't make it all morning to make you French toast.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
Yeah, what is what is a Quimbi brunch involved? Oh?
It was good. I got you take the express lane
and the turnpike.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Come on, you're sure plenty of Jamison involved in that
brunch as well, don't just I was.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
I was.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I was struggling, No I can. I can drink beer
all day long. I was struggling this morning. I got
we all four of us had the liquid ivy and
right his reign. Although I will be posting a video
very funny later on. Ladies come down to Hell and
they come out of the uber and they are revved up,
and forty minutes later, five of the six boom out
(11:52):
for the count.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
I have a video. That's what it's all about, in
fine fashion.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I was telling ladies this story earlier today at our tailgate.
Obviously I didn't come up for the game. I have
four season tickets. I wanted to do something. You know how,
we try to take care of first responders in military
whenever we can, and I immediately thought about Jamie Romanu,
the fallen Philadelphia police officer was shot and a routine
(12:21):
traffic stop in Kensington battled. You know, it was on
life support for a couple of months and passed away
in September. Thanks to our network, which, by the way,
you guys are just out.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Of control phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
We we not only got in touch with Jazmine immediately,
I didn't want to give her just my four tickets
and four passes to our tailgate. I only have my
four tickets, but I said, hey, bring ten people to
the tailgate. You know, the holidays have to be a
little difficult, especially with our young son, who you know,
was still.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Kind of trying to figure out what happened to Dad.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
It's it's, it's it's it's tragic in every way, but
I do know that at times we're able to at
least give people a little bit of an escape, and
that's what we were trying to accomplish. And last night,
my friend of the program, Green Legion legend, Damien cal
(13:20):
Pocus cal Pocus painting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Everybody, Damien reached
out to me and goes, hey, I have two tickets
do you want them? I'm not going to go to
the game, you know, can you give them to somebody
that would use them? And I'm like, oh my god,
why did I not think of this? And I immediately
got on just my social network personal, not even the
(13:43):
Green Legion, and I'm like, hey, we've got ten people
that's with Jasmine Hernandez and you know, the family of
Jamie Roman, and we'd like to send everybody to the game.
And within ten minutes we had fourteen tickets donated, which
we gave to other first responders as well because we
(14:04):
already had six. So we wound up with twenty ten
other people first responders at our tailgate going into the game.
Thanks to you guys, and I uh, Bri Bri Lynn Uh.
She said it best. She goes that that's effing Philly. Yeah,
that's effing Philly. And I just I want to thank
(14:25):
you guys for that. Jasmine has been so excited, her
son is so excited. And this is the funny part.
Ready Exfinity Live even comes through. Infinity Live says the
six people that aren't going into the game originally, we'll
have a table for them and we have their tab.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
The entire time, live it up.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Right, and now Aaron, you owe me one because you
didn't have to pay for anything today.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
They all went in the game. But it's it.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
It's something that makes makes you proud and h once again,
just thank you everybody, Thank you for for a very
brief period, even if it's just for a day.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
You know, you're you're.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
You're getting them away from stuff that has been constantly
on their mind. And uh once again. These three events
all happen within a week, and it just it reinforces
the love of sports.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
For me.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
It's the it's the one true venue that brings everybody together.
Doesn't matter how tall, how short, what color you are,
what religion you practice, everybody can talk about the game
at the water cooler and you guys, you guys completely
rock for that. Now we are going into a great
(15:49):
segment here because if you haven't been listening since the
beginning of the show, Jalen Carter's mom, Tony Brown is here,
by the way, with six other of the stihood of
the Jalen Carter.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
I don't know how we gotta, we gotta, we gotta.
Do you have a name for it yet?
Speaker 6 (16:06):
Football Moms of a Popka watch your language.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
What a popka? What is a papka?
Speaker 6 (16:12):
A popka is a small city outside of Orlando. And
that's how we met because all of our boys played
little league football all the way.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
Stop. Your son never played little anything.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
I swear to god, he did.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
A popka.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
Spell it a p O p k A all right,
a popka. I'll forget that your son first.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
That well, let's let's do this for a second, because
this is fun once again. Today is gonna be a celebration,
celebration until I get medieval in the NFL towards the end.
But six are six lucky stars. Jalen Carter, Zach Baond,
Saquon Barkley, Cam Jurgens.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
By the way, Beth, I know you're listening.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I'm gonna send you a text message if you want
to call in, call in. You can follow Tony Sue Landon, Dickerson,
Lane Johnson.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
All right, let's.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Let's talk about your son, all right, because this just
makes me happy?
Speaker 5 (17:23):
All right?
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Second Team All SEC twenty twenty one, First Team All
SEC twenty twenty two, Unanimous All American twenty twenty two.
That's not an easy title to come by. Two time
NCAA Football Champion twenty one and twenty two.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
Pro Football Writers.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Associate Association All Rookie Team twenty twenty three, and finally,
his first election to the twenty twenty four Pro Bowl.
Your son has had a lot of success in football
and in life. Talk to me, talk to our guests,
(18:06):
talk to our listeners, tell tell them the story.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
How do you how did you nurture it? How did
you know?
Speaker 3 (18:13):
How did when did you know that Jalen had a
real opportunity to go for broke, to make it at
the highest level of the most popular sport in the
United States and getting close because let's be honest, soccer
sucks you guys. Okay, FIFA and soccer can all blow
(18:35):
a Richard okay fact, but.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Tell the story. Uh, just in you know it.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
I'm so curious how you know how it evolved and
you as a mom of somebody that is absolutely talented.
Your your son's crazy. By the way, all right, when
he comes off the line. Nobody can stop. When I
say nobody, I mean one or two nobody. I'm sorry,
(19:04):
I'm rambling.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Please, Okay, So this is exciting all of those accolades.
I need those because I was trying to remember and
write all of those people where we're done. Definitely, thank
you for that, thank you for having us.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Jalen.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
I mean, I have no idea. He is amazing. He's awesome.
And he was from birth about five he was only
eight pounds or thirteen ounces. That is not big.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Huge.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
Now about a week later he was ten pounds and
that is no lie. Really, that is no lie. He
started formula Cereal in his formula. He started eating table
food at a very early age and I would say
three months, so he's always been huge. About five years old,
one of my high school friends said, Hey, Tony, could
(19:59):
you let him play football? And I'm like, hell no,
not my baby football. No, I don't want him to
get hurt. But he was semi fact so I'm like, Jalen,
let's go try this. And he was a very active
young man, and so I tried it and it was
(20:19):
something that he was great at. I knew from the
first day of Little league practice at five years old.
I've been told that from every coach that he's encountered. Oh,
he is going to be great if you keep him
involved in this sport. And as a single parent, it
was a struggle. It was a struggle to keep him
involved with the sports, the expenses that occurred.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
The I didn't know to ask about whether or not
you were single parent, because I think I've asked you
out every time you've been with us.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Yeah, very much so a single parent, and I would
not change it for the world. My kids, I have
two kids. My kids are amazing. I kept them on track,
I kept them guided, grounded and rooted into the church.
And my outlet was sports. I needed to say to
work until six o'clock, and I needed a free program
(21:13):
so you can go to after school. So whatever sport
they're playing out of school, you're going football, soccer, basketball.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Or whatever.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
No soccer, Hey, as long as you can stay there
until six o'clock until I can.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Pick you up. Perfect. When did when did it get real?
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I mean, I understand it, it has been real from
day one, But when did it really hit? So I
would say, you're okay for going a little over this, absolutely, yeah, absolutely,
about ninth grade it got real.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
That's when I start hearing from the college coaches and
the recruiters and you know, people that weren't even supposed
to talk to me about Jalen being as great as
he was. I but here through other people. Hey, this
person wants to talk to you. Someone would hand me
a magazine and it would have a.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Letter in it, please call me. Ninth grade.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Ninth grade, And I had seen all this stuff on TV,
but it was actually happening, you know, in my life.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Now crazy, that's nuts, that's arazy, that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
When did he commit to Georgia?
Speaker 6 (22:24):
So he really wanted to commit on our first visit,
and I'm like, no, it's other options out there. Make
sure you go out and weigh your options. But we
waited until his senior year to commit because I wanted
to be sure that he was sure. And I always
had this thing about kids that commit early and then
they come back and have to produce this letter you know,
(22:46):
oh we're going to de commit. So I wanted him
to be sure that that was where he wanted to go.
I really wanted him to go there because again I
was a single parent, it was close to home, and
we also have family in Georgia. If somebody needed to
get to him you know soon.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
That's cool, that is cool.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Uh you know what, let me do this because I
am behind here where ah, let's do it. Let's let's

coming in just getting out and getting it from everybody

I don't know if she was around somebody that I
heard a couple of boys in the back, but.
Speaker 5 (25:16):

say that anybody can beat you, you know, you're you're
you're you're hurting yourself. You know nobody can nobody can
beat me. I'm fine with you saying that, right, good
(26:39):
because if you don't have that level of confidence going
out on the field, you are going to get beat.
But it's not the Neon Dion Show anymore. There's a
lot of humble. There's a lot of you know, he man,
once you make that commitment, as you know, Tony once again, everybody,
Tony Brown, mother, Jayleen Carter here at the world famous
(26:59):
Parrot in for a lauderal where we are broadcasting live.
John Jansen back in studio, Jimmy who didn't let me
make her French toast this morning, sitting in now a
little pissed off about that. Still, it's Chanson. Tell me
when we do have Beth on the line. Beth, please, Yeah,
(27:21):
how are you, Beth.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
It's good to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I'm doing well. Good to hear you too.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I want to I want to give a little bit
of a background here because we're talking about accolades. Your son,
all right, third Team All Big Ten twenty twenty one,
spent three seasons waiting behind possibly the greatest center to
ever play the game, and when he gets his chance
(27:52):
first year, makes it to the Pro Bowl. He has
been a pivotal part of this offense. He's been a
pivotal part of Saquon Barkley's success.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
We're gonna get into Saquon two a little bit, Chancy.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
We may go over a little bit, since I'm not
broadcasting over the speaker system here at the Parrot. Uh
there's a few things to say, but Beth, you've been
you've been with us for well since the beginning, and
and and you and your husband have been fantastic.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
We are always honored when you guys show up.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
I just talk a little bit about the road for
Cam and and and how you don't use a mom
just like Tony was talking about earlier, how how you
helped him achieve these goals.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
I'd love to hear from it from your voice.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Yeah, I listened to's part of Jalen's mom talk. I
didn't hear at all. But I know Cam from the
very beginning. He was always quite an athlete. He was
quite a bit taller than everybody else at his age,
even in the Great School. And uh so he's actually
(29:01):
been playing tackle football since third grade. But he couldn't
ever run with the ball because he was too big.
So he had a white stripe on the helmets.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
And oh my god, Tony over here is just nodding
in agreement with you and laughing hysterically.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
You guys hear something in common. That's great.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Yeah, Yeah, When when he would have friends over and
they they'd always take their shoes off at the door,
I guess, and you could almost put two of his
friend's shoes into his one shoe because his feet were
so big from the very beginning.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
But no, he was.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
He was quite an athlete, never really went through an
awkward stage. He just always was very, very talented.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
So did he practice on battle?
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Well, the some of the posts make it look like
he did. I don't know if that's factual or exaggerated,
one of the two.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
You know, you know what, Beth, it is what anybody
wants to believe it is because that video still makes
me smile every single time I see it. It's it's
just and in his cowboy boots too.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, yeah, with the cattle though. But I don't know
if that was his workout or not.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
So have you ever seen the video?
Speaker 3 (30:40):
It's it's Cam standing off against a steer and you
know it kind of kind of like he's practicing, you know,
pass blocking. It's great, Beth, When did when did you
know that.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Cam was going to be special at this game?
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Well? I don't know when I actually thought he might
hit the pros. I guess. We were so ecstatic that
he was offered a scholarship at Nebraska in his freshman
year of high school. So, you know, I guess that
was kind of the first part of being you know,
(31:26):
knowing that he was going to probably be pretty good.
I think my husband thought it before I did. I
was just so excited that that he was a Nebraska
Cornhusker because you know, we grew up that was Nebraska.
Cornhuskers were everything. So now we're learning that the Pros
are pretty important too.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
That's great, that's great.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Are you going to be coming to the Pro Bowl
when he when he comes, well.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I'm hoping that he's not at it. Actually, I'm I'm
kind of hoping we're at the Super of All the
next week.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
I believe, no, no, no, I do believe that the
players are going to have an opportunity to go down.
They're not gonna they're not Yeah, they're not gonna participate
in any activities, but they're at least going to be
allowed to be recognized. And uh uh, we're we're gonna
have something to talk about later, Beth. Because Tony Tony
(32:24):
here thinks I can run a party.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
I don't know why I do it before, So we.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Might we might we might want to have a party
hosted by Jalen Carter and maybe even Cam Jurgons. I
don't know that sounds like offense defense, right.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
So.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
That I do appreciate.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
I do appreciate you get your calling in and and
thank you for putting up with me trying to convince
you to call in last night.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Well, thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
And once and once again congratulates. Are you you're going
to be at the playoff game?
Speaker 7 (33:03):
I hope.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
So right now, I'm in Nebraska and we're kind of
having a snowstorm, so I'm hanging out with my mom
making sure that in case we loves electricity, that she's
well taken care of.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
So that's good.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
You get that snowplow ready and grab her and put
her on a flight too, and we'll see you next weekend.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Okay, all right, sounds good. Thank you, Thank you you too.
How exciting?
Speaker 6 (33:29):
Thank you?
Speaker 5 (33:31):
I love that. I love that. Everybody.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Beth Jurgens, mother of Cam Jurgens, on the line from
Nebraska in the middle of a snowstorm. Everybody, We're gonna
keep going here because this is important. This is a fun.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
Player landon Dickerson.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Okay, Landon Dickerson first a steal in the second round
because at the end of the season every year at Alabama,
guy ran into injury issues. This guy is a beast,
A best second Team All SEC twenty nineteen, First Team
All SEC twenty twenty, Jacob's Blocking Trophy twenty twenty, Unanimous
(34:12):
All American twenty twenty. I know another one of those
unanimous All Americans. When was the last time you had
on your starting squad on both sides a unanimous All American? Well,
now you have it, Jalen Carter and Landon Dickerson, Rimington Trophy,
Giggey twenty twenty chance and you have to laugh at that,
(34:33):
A little no no n CUAA Football Champion twenty twenty
three time Pro bowler since he's been in the league
twenty twenty two through twenty twenty four. Just remarkable, and
we don't We could call his wife right now, but
(34:57):
she'll probably yell at me for not giving her for
a But uh, Landon Dickerson, you have been everything that
we could have ever asked for. And uh, like I said,
we're gonna talk about something right after this. I said
in the uh the offseason. We needed three signings. We
needed to re sign CJ. Gardner Johnson, and we needed
(35:22):
to sign two extensions Landon, Dickerson and Smitty.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
I would like that.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Well, hold On said no, no, no, no no, I said this
last year. I'm gonna be right again. All right, you
you just hold your tongue there, sir, getting through the
rest of the accolades. All right, Zach Bond. Some things
you may not know about Zach. He was standout player
at Wisconsin. Kind of fell by the wayside, but he
(35:49):
was first team All Big Ten in twenty nineteen, consents
US All American in twenty twenty. The talent has always
been there. And after coming on a mercenary contract, you guys,
I mean, come on, Zach Bond one point six million,
that's all he's getting paid this year. Now, everything's gonna
(36:11):
change in that man's life in about in about two months.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
But uh, it's.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
I love this guy. I love this guy next to Nakobe,
all right. They play very well off of each other.
Two hundred and eighty four tackles between the two of them. Wow,
this season, that is nuts. And Ni Kobe, don't worry
and I know you're listening, Nikidi, you should have been
(36:41):
on a plane.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
Damn you for twisting your ankle in the airport. All right,
I'm not gonna let you live that one down.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
I'll talk to you about that next weekend. There's I'll
jump the gun here, Jansen just weigh in. Eagles have
thirty six million dollars to spend next year, and if
they don't spend him on Makai Becton and Zach Bond,
I will lose my collective stuff.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Well, yeah, you want to sign this because you ended up,
you know, getting great free agent players and you would
like to keep them around.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
And the good thing is too.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
I think when that happens, players like Zach Bond and
Mackai Becton, two players that really didn't know what their
NFL future was, that the Eagles kind of gave them
a career rejuvenation. I think that would mean they would
want to come back. Not only just would they want
to test. I'm sure they'll want to test maybe free
agency a little bit, see what the numbers are out there.
But I think just seeing Mackai Becton's reaction specifically that
(37:36):
he would want to stay in a place that really
helped his career out, and he would want to stay
in a place that he thinks he can play really
good football at. And I think Zach Bond would want
to be the same way. So I don't think those
are two guys that would be really all that expensive.
They want to stay, they'd want to do everything they
can to stay here in Philly. So yeah, I think
it's just a no brainer for both of those guys
to be here.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Tony Wigan, I think, so, yes, just say yes, yes,
That's very easy.
Speaker 5 (38:05):
I've been asked. I've been asking you to say yes
for a while. Now, Oh my god, I gotta go. Everybody,
Green leads. Your video is done. All right?
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Two more players I want to get to. Then I
want to yell, and then I want to have the
fun segment.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
I do know. Damn you can we all agree.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Lane Johnson's greatest right tackle to ever play for the Eagles.
I understand you can make an argument for John runyon
nine year history shutting down that annoying Michael strahand, but
twelve seasons and well, one of the only good things
we can say about the Chip Kelly era, but literally
(38:47):
been this entire gel of the offensive line. Senior Bowl
seventy fifth Anniversary Team, Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, Second
Team All Big twelve twenty twelve, six time Pro Bowl
Or two seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty two, twenty three,
twenty four, Two times second Team All Pro twenty one
to twenty three, two time First Team All Pro seventeen
(39:10):
twenty two, Super Bowl fifty two champion Jansen thirty seconds.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
Thirty seconds, just thirty yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Just all right? You know what I thought I was
gonna feed you on this one. So Lane Johnson, after
his rookie contract, gets a nice hefty new contract and
then tests positive for performance enhancing drugs and we all went, oh,
what the hell? And the next it all disappears. I
(39:48):
still don't know what happened there, do you know? Uh No,
I'm not exactly sure. I'm forgetting because that was like
a long time ago. I'm forgetting that.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
But yeah, there have been a couple of things throughout
Lane's Johnson's career that has come up. And I say
thirty second because like this, his career has has just
been so good, and it's gone through a lot from
like the guy who drafted him specifically, and what the
Eagles have gone through what he's gone through in his
own career with as well as as you just mentioned
whatever that was with the ped suspension, but then also
(40:17):
his mental health and him being a mental health advocate
as well. Like there's just been so much about Lane
Johnson in every step of the way has been not
only professional, but just an amazing football player or two
with it. The guy's just been a class act, like
a high elite player his entire career, and that's it's
pretty amazing that the Eagles have had a player like
that for so long.
Speaker 5 (40:38):
First ballot Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
In my mind has to be like he is a
he's a one of the greatest right tackles to ever
play football, and also he has that championship like he
is a super Bowl winning player and maybe a two
time Super Bowl winning player.
Speaker 5 (40:53):
So absolutely, ah, that's what I'm talking about, all right,
real quick.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Saquon Barkley, all right, First of all, I have to concede.
Speaker 5 (41:03):
I bitched and moan when they signed him.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
I said I didn't like the signing, all right, and
once again goes.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
You could never say you're wrong.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
No, I'm wrong again, And it's been happening a lot lately,
and it doesn't get easier to swallow giggity but.
Speaker 5 (41:20):
Chanson, Yeah, don't give me thirty seconds on just this too. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
It's a game changing player. And I think the Eagles
had an opportunity. And it's not that maybe they don't
value the running back position all that much, maybe it's
not a number one priority for them. But I think
what I've noticed kind of with Howie Roseman, he just
prioritizes really great players, really special players. That's why he
prioritized getting Jaalen Carter in the draft, because that was
a really special player.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Coming out of the draft.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
And I think with Saquon Barkley, he realized, I have
a chance here, not at like top dollar, not at
some crazy ridiculous price, I could get one of the
best running backs in the league, and like a very
special talent on our foot. Took the opportunity to do it,
and behind what already is like a Jeff Statlin University
offensive line that has had Pro Bowlers left and right
(42:08):
since he's been there for the past fifteen years, that
he has turned into now like one of the greatest
offensive players in the field.
Speaker 5 (42:15):
And that is a remarkable thing.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
To have for an offense that pretty much needed it
after last year and kind of figuring their way offensively
all over again. The Sycon Barkley has been amazing. Sekon
Barkley is also amazing in other ways. He seems like
a great teammate.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
I remember seeing.
Speaker 4 (42:31):
Right, I remember his last one, but I saw video.
It was a great one before New Orleans. He told
Jalen Carter, he said, remember who you are, Like we
were scared of you when I was with the Giants.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
We were scared of you. Like know that you are
that player.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
And Jalen Carter had probably the best game of his
career against the New Orleans Saints that week. He's just
a great teammate, great football player, and it's going to
be a huge asset to have in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Letting me help everybody understand the decision today for him
to sit all right. NFL record most receptions by a
rookie running back ninety one, Second Team All Big Ten
twenty fifteen, two time First Team All Big Ten twenty sixteen,
(43:17):
and seventeen Big Ten Return Specialists of the Year twenty seventeen.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
Two time.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
Running Back Big Ten running Back of the Year twenty
sixteen and seventeen. Two time Big Ten Offensive Player of
the Year twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, two time Big Ten
Most Valuable Player twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, Second Team All
American twenty sixteen, Consensus All American twenty seventeen, Paul Horning
(43:46):
Award twenty seventeen, Pro Football Writers Association All Rookie Team
twenty eighteen, three time Pro Bowler twenty eighteen, twenty two
and twenty four NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year twenty eighteen.
And now let me ask you what is not on
(44:07):
that list of achievements. Super Bowl, A championship in any capacity.
So if everybody thinks, and I get it, it's not
the fan decision everybody, but it's the right decision, and
(44:29):
we can't fault anybody for it. This thing is I
hate to say it, and damn it. After Emmett Smith
posting so many freaking records against US rushing, it would
have been ridiculously vindicating for Saquon to bust this record
(44:50):
against the team that I hate more than anything in life,
and that is the New York Giants. But remember Saquon
and nobody has everybody in a locker room as friends,
and all we needed is some jackass that decided to
(45:12):
get some revenge after he banged out one of their girlfriends,
telling you, yeah, no, you didn't need the dumb buck.
Speaker 5 (45:23):
For that one. No, I did not.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
I'm telling you, I just I didn't like the situation.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
Everybody goes, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
It's great he could do it against his former team
NFC East Division rivals.
Speaker 5 (45:34):
No.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
No, the worst thing that could have happened is if
he suited up today and got on the field against
his former team division rival when they have nothing to
play for except stop him. In addition to that, if
Squon is going to break that record, do you know
who else has to play? Jordan Mylata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens,
(45:59):
Makai Lane, Johnson, Grant Calcatara, aj Brown, Smitty, everybody pushing
the coverage downfield that opens things up for him. Everybody
let it go, including Eric Dickerson.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
You are a douce pickle.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
In every capacity, every capacity, sir, I don't want anybody
breaking my records are meant to be broken. And guess
what nobody's talked about you for ten years because you
have nothing good to say nothing. So the fact that
(46:41):
Saque's in this conversation brings you back to life and
gets you some appearance fees. You should be happy your
bank account is jackass anyway.
Speaker 4 (46:53):
Now, So that Mas said, I understand that it and
it's a logical one, and I'm not gonna let he
hates Nick sirianniy for it. It's the right decision, like
he made the right one as a football fan though,
and I am a football fan first of or anything.
Speaker 5 (47:07):
It would have been awesome.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
It would have been a huge moment for him, for
the Eagles, for everyone. But I understand why it's not
going to happen. Let me talk now.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Since I'm on a roll, please few other people who
could have made the list of Pro Bowlers and Nikita
you know, I'm gonna say, na Kobe, all right, we're
talking about twenty three tackles, the difference between Zach Bond
and the Kobe Dan twenty three tackles and the Kobe
was all over the place, actually has more yards from
(47:37):
sacks than Zach. Just saying he might not have gotten
it this year, but I guarantee it's coming.
Speaker 5 (47:46):
How does aj Brown not make that list?
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Just saying, and then Jansena la la, oh my god.
Speaker 5 (47:56):
Really, how's how's the ankle? My ankle? No, sorry, okay,
you said Jansen and then my ankle?
Speaker 3 (48:05):
Okay, real quick, because I still want to go to Kajata.
Speaker 5 (48:12):
How does Quinnon, Mitchell and Jordan my A lotta get snuffed?
Speaker 4 (48:17):
Yeah, the Jordan my lot of one I don't get
because he's been around the league for long enough now. Yeah,
it's it's just it's dumb. Uh And it's just it's
why I don't like pro bol.
Speaker 5 (48:26):
I like all Pro.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
All Pro is a really I think good way of
indicating a good season. But Jordan Mylta is a Pro
Bowl caliber player. By the way, He's probably the best
left tackle in football, and that's a position we put
a lot of emphasis on in football. He is the
best left tackle in football, and he's been I mean,
I know, he's been getting better and he's been great,
and he's been that way for a while. I think
this has by far been his best season, though by
(48:47):
far it's been the most consistent and elite he's been
all season, all year in his career.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
I think he's just a phenomenal player. Do you think
missing four games had any effect on.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
This guy, He probably did, probably had a bit of
impact on it, sure, But I mean the player himself
is amazing Quinnon. It's just maybe the rookie thing and
he's not going to have the interception, so he's not
going to have the numbers. That kind of his eye
opening for everybody to see. It's that's one player that
if you are watching though, and if you're paying attention
even a little bit, yeah, that guy is one of
(49:21):
the top cornerbacks in football at the moment, and it's
at least played like that this season. So that's a
that's a hard one because again, the numbers aren't going
to be there. He's not had a ton of interceptions.
I don't even think he's had a ton of pass breakups.
But you just watch him play and that dude is
is a cover cornerback.
Speaker 5 (49:35):
Is that exactly? He's a cover cornerback.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
Bobby Taylor syndrome, Yeah, a little bit Bobby Taylor syndrome.
Speaker 5 (49:43):
You never heard Bobby Taylor's name. You know why, because.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
Nobody threw the ball his way. Nobody wanted any part
of Bobby Taylor. I want to part of Bobby Taylor
because you were supposed to come out to London with.
Speaker 5 (49:53):
Us Jackass, but we'll cheat that time.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Kidding, Bobby, I appreciate you so, thank you. That's all
over here, sir, Really I got a plastic cup. We're
gonna talk to Jess about that. I'm kidding, You're good,
Thanks Bob. All right, everybody, We're gonna end this show
with a repeat performance of Kajada Tony Kim E. We
(50:17):
we're gonna we're gonna ask for your input here, but
we're gonna This is a This is a This is
a repeat performance from the October twentieth pregame show. I
am throwing out because I put a lot of time
in this.
Speaker 5 (50:29):
Kajada is our final segment.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Kajada is an acronym for kick ass, jackass, or dumb ass.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
Now, you may not know all.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
These situations because you know Eagles fans for life do
and you know you I get it now, you're Eagle
fans for live now.
Speaker 5 (50:49):
But uh, I'm just gonna throw it out there.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
And you said kick ass, jackass or dumbass Jansen, I
know what you're gonna say, but feel free, Miracle at
the Meadowlands.
Speaker 5 (50:59):
One kick ass say kick ass, kick ass.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
There we go, Miracle of the Metolands too, even more
kick ass, even more kickass. NFL dot com readers voting
to Shawn Jackson's punt return the best.
Speaker 5 (51:16):
Play of all time.
Speaker 4 (51:18):
Wow, really, that's.
Speaker 5 (51:22):
A total kick ass.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
Matt Dodgers sideline in pep talk, dumb ass.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
Yeah, poor, he's a He's an alum of my school
in East Carolina, so I feel bad for him.
Speaker 5 (51:35):
But you can't do that, dumb ass.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
Unfortunately, Tom Coughlan's sunscreen kick ass, stupid ass.
Speaker 5 (51:52):
Going to the orthodontis with Michael Strahan. Oh gosh, fine ass.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
Giants you you you get my tight my tyranny today
because you don't get a record posted against your ass.
Speaker 5 (52:09):
All right, trip with Daniel Jones, A trip with Daniel Jones.
You don't know that pluck noh oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's kick ass. What a play.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
Daniel Jones running running the leg of the field, He
gets to the fifteen yard line full speed, nobody around him.
Speaker 4 (52:30):
Yeah, it's kick ass because it's simultaneously the best play
in his career and also the worst play of his
career at the same time.
Speaker 5 (52:36):
The worst hold on. It's a Michael Pierce nightmare.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
Well, Michael Pierce intentionally went down. Daniel Jones did not.
He unintentionally cut down. I know he was avoiding.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
He was avoiding, uh, locker room energy boosts with Lawrence Taylor.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
Oh gosh, kick ass. Hold on, you know what that means?
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Yeah?
